The difference between Decisive Strike and Pop Goes the Weasel is that one can be used a single time by each survivor (so 4 max) while the other can be used 12 times in a single game. If you have ever used D Strike 1, you know how fast it goes down, which is why that perk needs to be a full minute rather than Pop being a full minute, because now the Killer has to rush to use it.
So the killer should have to rush to pop whichever generator they hope has progress... But the survivor should get a solid minute of immunity to do... Whatever they want.
Solid argument.
No entitlement at all in that😃
P.s. I do also play Survivor and use decisive strike. I've never been tunnelled off hook for more than 20 to 30 seconds because a tunneling killer WILL down you before that.
The only time the 60 secs on DS seems short is if I'm trying to bait the killer for the DS stun.

The way they talk about the statistics really worries me.
They provide us with statistics which say Nurse is the weakest killer and Pig is top 3
Then use those egregious statistics which are obviously flawed as their basis for reworking/not reworking perks and killers.
Hearing Almo drone on about why their secret stats are reliable while simultaneously dismissing the only statistics they show us as unreliable makes me wonder what kind of logic they use when they say OoO is fine.
I imagine something along the lines of "Person with OoO doesn't escape more than 25% of the time? Perk must be fine." Can't wait for MMR to use the same system.
Sadly, too many companies fail because of this... Early on data can drive decisions but you reach a point in success and popularity where statistics are just cold numbers and you have to listen to the voices behind the numbers.

Gonna just repeat MY old arguments for this, but I've done 4 WITHOUT these perks or items, still made all the saves and died in 1 hook and ONE HIT because NoED.
The OP also said that the "do bones" argument is not realistic as we, as solo players, have as many things to do and contend with as the killer. Bones are a priority, but so's keeping alive the other 3 meatsacks that we have to call teammates so we can DO said bones.
Equipping perks is also unrealistic as we only have 4 perk slots. And, well, they're usually taken by perks more necessary for immediate survival. I never run Adrenaline because of the fact that endgame is a maybe.
And Avis, it does reward bad killers. As much as it does bad survivors, if not more. It is a perk that says "You're doing badly and losing, here's Exposed. The strongest status in the game. I'll even hide it for you too!" and that's just wrong. Devour Hope is the ONLY other perk to do so, but you have to earn that.
It doesn't just reward bad survivors. I use it every so often in an actual end game build and play my whole match plotting and pushing survivors on certain gens etc for my endgame plan.

Great yet another annoying rant about no one escapes death.
When I play survivor it is often solo Survivor I have never really had any trouble with no one escapes death if I start to see it popping up I equip small games or detectives hunch.
I swear killer mains (myself included) have a sixth sense for it. When I'm playing solo Survivor I'll know within 5 mins if the killers play style matches NOED.
My advice to survivors is play more killer to learn killer behaviors and styles. I know I refused to play as survivor forever now I do and it's helped my killer game immensely.
Also if the killer is playing sloppy but vicious... Expect NOED

If you spend the full duration of pop to find a gen to kick you're not using the perk effectivilly anyway you should have a general idea of which gens are the ones you need to protect. Pls don't spend time traveling to a gen in the corner in the map to pop it that's just a waste of time
Same for discordance if you're ever more then 96 m from gens you want to protect you're already doing it wrong
So in short if you use the perks right then barrely nothing changed
Pop is about getting the most regression value so finding a gen with progress is key. Not every match is 'find a 3 gen and camp it' situation. Discordance is used to find multiple people to determine and separate teams. Which strengthens my point on OoO... Which could be used to ensure a team works on the farthest gen possible. Which makes this topic even more valid.
Thanks😃
-
It's almost like killers got 2 unneeded nerfs (1 that wasn't even disclosed), while survivors got executive confirmation that their most toxic perk is fine as is. And every time we bring it up, survivors call it "whattaboutism". I'll be tunnelling, camping, slugging til bleed out til someone listens to us.

Handholding (noun) the provision of careful support or guidance to someone during a learning process or a period of change.
Guidance and information don't do anything? Please...
I should have been more specific. Yes, many perks in the game handhold. (See definition above.) Also, I'm not implying that handholding perks are inherently good or bad. Making decisions based on accurate information is a good thing, so I think everyone should use a detection perk. Personally, I don't have a problem with handholding perks being made worse. The new version of Discordance may be worse than before, but it still serves it's purpose well. I don't think we need a learning or teaching style of perk for every aspect of the game. This may be quite the assumption, but I don't think you'd want to find yourself in a situation where you can't play the game without a very specific perk. Eventually, you might want to have the option of riding your bike without training wheels.
You are funny 😂.
If Discordance is hand goldy (🤭). What is OoO? Oh I forgot you use another fake word to keep from answering relevant things.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
I mean the nerfs are prety marginal at best.
You can still get to any gen with pop. The only time this nerf matters is if you win a short chase while it's active at which point you're already winning
Discordance nerf only makes the first 2 tiers bad. Outside of that it's bassicly the same except it doesn't barrage you with sound queue's anymore.
These nerfs hardly make them unplayable.
I didn't say unplayable. I said the changes weren't asked for and 1 wasn't even disclosed to us. Pop is useless now unless you're using bbq. You probably can get to any gen... Issue is not every gen has progression. And you don't have enough time to second guess. Did you say Discordance only affected 2 tiers?! That's 2/3s of it. Plus even 96 meters will miss gens on big maps. So not only was it not disclosed, it was entirely neutered compared to what it was. I wish F13 was still relevant... That damn lawsuit is the only thing that saved THIS toxic mess.

sure here's a list
- No event currency which is stupid since we have always been able to earn 2 full cosmetic sets and the devs got a TON of complaints last year for at first only providing 1 free cosmetic set compared to 2 and now we don't even get a single cosmetic.
- gameplay is still stale and it feels no different than just doing regular tome challenges. only "unique" thing are the THREE games i can spawn a flower to harvest for a challenge. Sure there are special hooks/gens but can you really call that an event when it just gives extra bp.
- The "event" items are SUPER rare to find in the blood web and all survivor event addons are permanent while the killer version is only available during the event to use and feels like a waste of bp, actually in the long term it is.
- rift feels stale compared to previous rifts and the last charm doesn't even have an animation and it doesn't look good.
- "Event" charms are code locked and half of them are exclusive and there is a limit to how many times a code can be used which i believe is 10. Love the this bs because they gave away my hard earned event cosmetics for the reason of it being exclusive yet this bs is allowed?
- No actual game play interaction like what we had before with the first Halloween event and the first lunar event which were THE BEST we have ever had because they introduced competition for the event objectives. again this "event" and even the ones before it just feels stale.
All very valid and well put. Thank you.
-
I'll start.
I miss harvesting serum as in game currency to unlock certain halloween themed goods. I don't mind that some are puchase-only as an online pvp game needs to generate revenue. I however liked the halloween currency better than adding the rift challenges for the halloween freebies.
I am also perturbed that the killer rift challenge that requires 20,000 bp in Deviousness is bugged as it is impeding progress and in order to bypass it I'd have to do Survivor challenges to bridge to the next killer challenge. It is stuck at 13,360 bp and will not progress.
I also believe the twitch streamer codes giving premium content is going to cause a lot of unnecessary problems among the community and nears the mentality of a "pay to win" issue. Not that you pay, or the charms do anything but it's the people with the fastest internet on pc that will capitalize on this. Console and rural pc have no chance.
Gotta say I love the blight serum killer addon as it creates some truly entertaining moments (not a complaint but I had to mention it).

Then it all depends whether asking others not to give more money for cosmetics to the devs is considered by them a premeditated attack or not
If you were to blatantly just say "don't buy this because it's garbage and they suck for trying to sell it" I think that could be considered for removal because it doesn't address a particular issue.
If you were to say "I refuse to buy this because the value is far less than it should be or used to be. Does anybody else agree?". I believe that should be fine as it starts a conversation that will give the sales and dev teams a reason and an option to fix it based on how many people feel the same way.

Jesus determining who's right and who's wrong in dbd is always so difficult 🥵
I think most times it's not so much a matter of who's right or wrong but how they go about expressing their opinion. If things stay civil even the worst of difference in opinions can settle in a "agree to disagree" if both sides are respectful.
I agree peaceful protests are the best way to cause a change. But I also understand a company not wanting their own forum seemingly used to hurt the company.
If more people voiced their valid issues (which there are MANY) without immediately insulting the team in the process I think more issues would stay in open view and then be fixed.

Ok. I want to make sure people are understanding the intent here. I don't want a blame game insult contest. I want a constructive conversation on what changed in monetization that has created this rift in the community. And that way Behavior can see clear concerns and possibly course correct it.

I agree. There has to be a line. Well defined and communicated, so we know how to voice our issues without punishment or having those concerns deleted. That's why I started this topic. I noticed that when people mentioned monetary sides of the event, the reaction was very inconsistent to other topics.

Because heaven forbid we try and force a change to the quality of product that gets released and breaks the game. Heaven forbid we try and force a console optimization after it was promised two years ago.
heaven forbid we start comparing bhvr to bathesda.
the status quo isn’t working. It’s why folks are forced to do these things.
I can understand them not wanting their own forum used as a place to gather a following to stop paying.
But if there are enough players in this mindset we do need to use this forum to tell them why we won't spend money. Otherwise, they can't fix the issues players have.
But no company is going to allow their forum to be used to boycott them.
-
@twistedmonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1698369#Comment_1698369
That depends on the context of the thread itself. I have seen so many threads be fine even discussing monetary situation and be left up but then it turns into an argument or gets derailed and they can end up being closed.
Certain things should never be stated such as telling other to stop spending money or boycotting etc since its akin to a witch hunt on the company.
This is their forum and we are just users thry allow to post and discuss things so having people state something to try and harm their means of income, well I don't see any company really allowing that to be fair.
I agree. But if there is a large portion of the community that refuses to spend money but is afraid to discuss why this could be detrimental to them financially too. I would think they'd rather hear why (preferably articulately) and fix it than just have people suffer in silence while sales slowly stop.

We're merging threads as it makes it easier for everyone to see the complaints as a collective - if threads were all individual, it'd make it harder to keep track of. Merging threads always has been done as it's easier to forward the feedback.
Even if it's all in one thread - it's still noticed and seen. It doesn't make the feedback less valueable. It's just as valueable as if it wasn't merged.
Ok. I've just seen so many threads stopped quickly today especially. I was legitimately curious about why.
The conversation should always stay civil and non hostile. I agree whole heatedly.
People can disagree without reverting to insults.

For the most part i believe it isup to the community managers and mods to pass on the feedback. When they look for feedback and have little time to do so maybe they only look in the feedback discussion itself.
Realistically if it's a post giving feedback about something then the section should it be posted in is the feedback one.
Its the same as bug reports being moved to the relevant section.
So moving the post doesn't necessarily remove the feedback from reaching the devs just the playerbase from seeing it who may only be spending time in general discussion.
That makes sense. But at what point does the discussion end to be filed as feedback? In general less people will give their opinions in the feedback section than the general discussion section.
If the topic stops being discussable or gets out of hand with insults/attacks then yes, it's not a conversation anymore. But the monetary threads seem so sensitive that they can't be discussed. Which isn't healthy for a community.

My question now is: are controversial but valid concerns stopped by mods before behavior developers or marketing gets to see the issue?
-
@RockoRango said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1698282#Comment_1698282
That's already been discussed, but every single time it's been discussed the mods have moved it to a supervoid (superthread in Feedback) and it's hidden from everyone.
I even argued against it and won, yet it's still going on because they have the final word.
That's scary. The mods have to moderate while still keeping relevant things discussable. That's a responsibility they have to Behavior. If legitimate gripes are buried by moderators, then behavior can't fix them. So is the issue Behavior, or that the valid concerns never make it to Behavior to consider?

You're right, but that's just entitlement and whataboutism. Killers are indignant that their meta perk got nerfed without survivor meta perks also being nerfed. The decision of whether or not to nerf Pop didn't have anything to do with the survivor meta, though, and besides it's unreasonable to expect the devs to always change the survivor and killer meta together just to make the partisans on the forum happy.
The devs should make whatever changes make sense to balance the game whenever they feel they're necessary. Pop was the strongest killer perk in the game before the nerf, and it will remain the strongest killer perk in the game after the nerf.
Totally agree with you that it's hard to blame them for not changing everything at once. I'm sure they'll nerf DS again at some point, and I agree that they should.
As far as I can tell the decision was random at best... I struggle to find the cries of "pop needs nerf", "PGtW is op" etc. However there are actual balance breakers (leaving DS out of it) look at OoO, how is that not addressed?
I know it's unrelated to the post but it's related to your defense to DS.
Edit: misread the last post. Sorry and disregard the comment about defending DS. Sorry.

Hm, I'll keep it in mind, the next time I'm at the gate and can see all my teammates are safe. I honestly only ever saw the fact that both, killer and surviver, get a few more points if they spot each other one last time.
It's probably not players like you they are referring to. There are the types like you; usually emote to come near you, let's killer get a hit etc.
There are the other type; where they 4 man outplay a killer, open the farther gate, if you're not there in 10 seconds they drop a nearby pallet and fast vault it til you go clear over there. Then you see them all tbagging and exit as soon as they KNOW you saw them tbagging...
Totally different then a Survivor sitting on the line and letting killer hit them.
General rule I follow: if you guys totally mopped the floor with him, just escape asap. No killer wants a pity hit.
If it was a close game then if he doesn't approach the gate within 10 seconds and everybody is out/safe just leave.

No that's true, you can still escape through the hatch with an active trap. I think that should change because I personally don't see a reason why you can escape one way but not the other.
I entirely agree. At least if the exit gates were powered through the generators getting done. If it's due to only 1 Survivor left and there's still gens then it's not too bad because they're probably new.
But when all gens are done and 1 person stays behind with a trap just to hatch escape that shouldn't be ok.
-
Deathslinger+NOED+Blood Warden+ Rancor.
Very situational but when 4 are tbagging and you hook 1, 2 will scatter for totem and the last will hang at the exit gate... Til you go after them and they realize Blood warden's wall is there... Another free hook. When they return after finding NOED totem, find obsession and mori them with Rancor.
They will think twice next time they hang at the gate.
Note* if all Survivors come to save the one you shot, slug him and pretend to get side tracked in chases to kill time but stay close enough to the slugged so they do not get up. As soon as EGC collapse gets to about 30% remaining grab n hook him. Blood warden does the rest😈

So I'm going for the "No Mither" challenge in the archives, but get frustrated after getting spirit twice in a row. The first match wasn't too bad, but I got caught in chase very quickly. The next match I got matched against the same Stridor Spirit who knew I wasn't running Decisive Strike and relentlessly tunneled me into the ground.
Now I'm not happy that I screwed my teammates over, so I'm asking if anyone has any advice on if not counter Spirit completely, at least buy myself a few extra seconds in chase. I've tried breaking LOS and walking, doesn't work. I've tried Window vaulting quietly and back, didn't work. I've tried throwing pallet early, and breaking LOS, nothing. Iron WIll barely does anything since every Spirit runs Stridor as well.
Call me a nub for having played this game for nearly 1800 hours and still being shite against Spirit. I usually play killer mostly but have been playing survivor near exclusively recently and so I have to deal with spirits I never learned to face. I admit I have to get good so ANY advice on how to go about that against her will be appreciated.
So easy... Check it:
Just stop moving, or walk, or run. 1 in 3 chance of avoiding a hit.
Also do bones, unless it's haunted grounds and if you get interrupt-grabbed just don't do that.
That help?
Basically do everything and or nothing 😁.
Spirit is tricky lol

And the reason is - no one god darn knows. BHVR is a relatively big company and has been developing the game for 4 years now, they should be able to change these sorts of balancing problems quickly
It'll come in this order:
rework (destruction) to mori.
Sometime much later:
Rework (slight time constraint with major buff of some kind, perhaps hatch spawn condition with a key) to keys.
Later.....:
7 more killer perks nerf-er um reworked without any real reason or request.
Then FINALLY!:
OoO will still be ignored.
Too busy with newest OP killer/Survivor DLC and their respective perks that will get nerfed after the sales drop off for them.

They activate when a gen finishes. So if all gens are done, whatever traps you still have are useless. As far as I know, as long as it's been activated (was already on someone when a gen finished) the gates should kill them upon escape...
BUT for some awful reason the hatch is still available to escape even with an active trap.
This is my understanding. Hopefully if I'm mistaken someone will clarify.

It's funny you mention the "team" aspect cause all these killers complain about SWF and comms and what not when it is a team game
A team is not just a SWF lol. You're all survivors...
COMMON GOAL=SURVIVE.
SURVIVAL ALONE=HARDER and more work per Survivor.
Therefore a team with or without comms =TEAM
