In certain scenarios it is, but it is more than often used to simply annoy other players not to win.
It can become very exploitable without really playing the game.
Not sure what you mean by annoying other players not to win. If killer is camping a hook, there's not really a reason for you to be annoyed because that's a free pass for you to do gens.

Not really a legit “strategy” when survivors can complete their objective while you camp.
God Windows were a problem, but camping is also a problem.
Not all strategies are successful. It is a legitimate strategy, albeit and annoying and often unsuccessful one.
-
It's not OP, but I'll be damned if it's not the most annoying perk in the game. Well, except for DS at the Endgame gates.
-
Things like the Shack pallet get broken because the Shack is a god loop if it isn't broken.
Not all pallets are created equal, so the ability to restore four strong pallets in a match, let alone one, is insane.
-
@alaenyia said:
Considering the changes coming soon where they have massively reduced the amount of pallets per map. I think this would be fine, as a once per game or large cool down situation.
Peanits has said countless times now that the amount of pallets on each map has not changed except for the central building on Disturbed Ward.

The stats were posted by devs a while back, it literally has the lowest survival rate of any map.

Were you using FOV perks?
Cause this wasn't happening to me ever, and I face flashlight alot
No, I dont have any unlocked. I have my sensitivity up at 100 and I still couldn't turn my camera fast enough to get out of the flashlight stun.

I said look at a wall as in "pick up the survivor while looking at a wall"
Oh, gotcha

Bait the survivor to attempt to go for the flashlight save, or just look at a wall
Couldn't look at the wall because I couldn't turn fast enough to get to it. Will take into account baiting, thanks.

I hope you are joking. lol
This one perk alone was not a make or break and actually I like it the way it is now. It makes it easier to pressure them off the gen while not having to kick the gens. I just have to scare them enough to leave them alone and it progresses down pretty quick. I use Pop Goes the Weasel now and love that combo.

As far as I know Legion isn't nearly as weak as you make him out to be. In fact, I'm pretty sure most killers find Legion pretty good, and most survivors think it's too overpowered.
Legion is consistently at the bottom of people's tier lists so idk who you've heard from

Listen to what others have said but I saw you were playing GF and I really enjoy him but I never use bitter murmer on him. I'm sure since you said your new you don't have it but if you can get BBQ & chili its way better. Other than that maybe swap sloppy for a different perk or try to stack something with sloppy like thana or nurse's calling. Main advice tho is to take deep breaths and know its not on you and that you did really well considering the odds against you. If we had proper matchmaking system this wouldn't be such an issue in my eyes.
Yeah, I know Bitter Murmur isn't too great, I just don't really have anything else. I have Discordance and Thanatophobia unlocked as teachables but the Bloodweb refuses to give them to me as Ghostface. I'm pretty close to getting Nurse's Calling too.

Man truly if you want to get better at the game you gotta move as the killer and go to gens and stuff man it will make you better overall camping and tunneling only works with survivors who only care about rescuing and not really escaping. If I see you camping which I will I run kindred I’m going to make sure 3 gens pop then hopefully switch places with the person on the hook let the other 2 gens get popped open the gate and get saved and 3 to 4 survive that’s a easy game man I run duos only man if I had a team I’ll be escaping more that’s why I run kindred hoping others do the right thing.
I do neither of those things. The only reason I tunneled at this point was because it was the endgame collapse.
I can usually pop 2-4 iridescents against players within my range, I'm moreso asking how to not feel like ######### whenever you get matched up against players who are of a much higher rank.

I don't know about the official marketing, but someone legitimately paid for a Reddit ad talking about how bad the game is.

She wasn't going to be free. The devs issueed a challenge before her release. It was like break a million pallets or something within a week. We did that. Hence why she was free. Otherwise they would have charged us for her.
But she's free now, so she's more of a poor man's Huntress than the dude who costs like five bucks lol
-
Isn't Huntress a poor man's Huntress because she's free?
-
I thought the consensus on him was that he wasn't bad, it was just that there's virtually no reason to play him over Huntress.
I haven't played him yet so I can't say, I'm just describing the vibe I got from people.

Starting tomorrow it’ll be much faster. Like 3 seconds if I remember correctly. Whether it’s a toolbox or the perk.
But there are other changes as well. Toolboxes get used up ultra fast, but don’t disappear when depleted. And the Hangman’s Trick perk gets a big buff. Namely, it’ll show auras of survivors who are near hooks when you pick up a downed one. That you you can walk toward a safer hook.
It's 2.5 seconds exactly.
-
Keys should at least make it take time to open the hatch. Even Ebony Moris make the Killer spend a little bit of time because of the length of the animations.

Welcome to the club, rank 11 here who meets nothing but red ranks.

Far as I’ve heard, he won’t be buffed. That being said, someone did suggest he be able to drag downed survivors which I think is a hilarious idea.
Also low key hope he stays weak so I feel special making him my main. If I said I main Freddy or Spirit then people would just roll their eyes. I don’t want that reaction for Deathslinger.
I mean, ######### them. Play whoever you want dude.

Legion - The other three members of the Legion appear. One grabs the survivor's left leg, one grabs the right. A third member stands over the survivor, a foot pinned on each of the survivor's arms. The member you're playing as creeps over the survivor from behind, staring into their eyes as you slit their throat while the rest of the Legion scatters.

These were of course not just because of feedback here, but also because of statistics and other design team input. But the feedback here helped prioritize those changes and get them in sooner. There are more, but these are good examples.
Forever Freddy complaints led to nerfing those addons.
Feedback on Plague and the no-cleanse strategy led to giving her a bonus apple to start with.
Some unannounced changes for the next Mid-Chapter update.
Concerns about Legion weakness led to the recent FF speed increase and restoration of their original vault speed.
Concerns about spending too much time mending led to a shorter mend timer.
Thanks! I know you've already said a lot, but is there any chance you can tell us whether those mid-chapter changes are based on PTB feedback or general feedback? Or both?

It still CAN reward you for literally afk’ing.
Nobody is saying that there is no counter just that it can directly reward killers for literally doing nothing. You don’t even have to hook anyone or pressure a gen to get it to proc.
If the killer is afk'ing, you have time to do totems.
-
@rita_book said:
I'm sorry, no. Compared to survivor, killer is so much easier and less stressful. The amount of effort you have to do to blood farm is absurdly low compared to survivor also.
I've noticed that killers expect the game to be completely tailored to them. I mean, the original poster even starts with the fact that he was going to get a four kill. How much more does he want? The fact that there was no hook around is the mechanic of the game to give the survivor a chance to escape. The survivor should have been trying to escape, and wiggling when you picked them up to pull them away from the gate when you picked them up. To demand anything else is to ask to circumvent balance and build in mori for all killers.
Oh no, it's #########

@gatsby said:
Slugging and camping does nothing for the emblem system. You won't rank up even in the scenario that everyone tries to be altruistic and the game ends in a 4k.
So why do Killers play like that?
Because half the time it's the only things the Killer can do to try and fulfill their objective successfully.

Exactly this...it seems that higher ranks are generally more toxic as well, seen to want to annoy the killer so they disconnect. I've had 4 rank 1s in my last game, 3 flashlights, all had DC and BT and all used the same character so it made it impossible to know who was who. Tbagging constantly. It's a shame because all that will happen is nobody will play killer so that will be the end of it
Yeah just happened to me again and I've been having a really ######### day and I feel like ######### #########. Decisive Striked at the gates, teabagged, I feel like offing myself.

Unrelated, but I'm getting tired of seeing constant red ranks as a green rank killer on console. I actually feel like ######### rn.

Wasn’t Legion a group of people, specifically 4? I always thought the other 2 would pop in eventually. Also wish when he was released that each Legion character was slightly different. Like 1 would let you vault windows faster, one would let you vault pallets faster, one would put you in mending longer, and one could use their power longer, by default.
Legion had a lot of potential, and to be low key 4 new killers in one package, but instead we got 2 and they are identical.
No, we have 4, it's just that the other two of them have to be purchased. I love the stabby gang but there is no denying that they are just a vessel for cosmetic sales.

NOED takes 80 seconds to deactivate DS only takes 60. Against a killer who doesn't tunnel you're left with 3 perk slots all game, Killers have a method to make sure DS never activates AT ALL they don't even have to disable it they just have to not tunnel the unhooked survivor. The presence of NOED is at the killers discretion until after the game is over or its served its purpose. If you equip it at all survivors are either forced to hand the killer 80 seconds of free time or sacrifice one person at end game.
You don't have to do every single hex totem to deactivate NOED. Use your eyes and find the one that's burning. If you aren't doing the totems until the Endgame, that is 100% your fault. You're not "handing the Killer free time", you're fulfilling your secondary objective and not just unga bunga'ing through your first. God forbid you actually have to use some brain cells and strategize in a match.
The issue with DS is that you will run into it even if you're not tunneling. Survivor gets unhooked, you chase the unhooker and down them and hook them. You run into the survivor who got unhooked who is now working on a gen and you are forced to slug them because they still have DS even though you weren't tunneling anyone. And because DS lasts 60 seconds and the time for a lone survivor to complete a generator without a toolbox is 80 seconds, they can very well do an entire gen with a teammate while also having a get out of jail free card if the Killer dares to pull them off of it.

Never said DS was okay or doesn't reward a survivor for bad play.
DS also can't be deactivated by literally just holding a button for 14 seconds.
NOED is a high risk, high reward perk, like all Hex perks. With it, you essentially only have 3 perks until the Endgame. Survivors have a method of disabling NOED from the beginning of the trial without completing their primary objective and its effects are only present at the trial's end. If a survivor finds the totem, you only have 3 perks total throughout the trial.
DS is a low risk, high reward perk. The Killer has no method of disabling it from the beginning of the trial without completing their primary objective and its the presence of its effects are at the survivor's discretion. If you use it early or mid game, you force the Killer to waste time by either avoiding you in a chase, slugging you (which opens up the possibility of Unbreakable or being revived by teammates), or eating the stab. If you use it at Endgame, you can very well reward your entire team with an opportunity to escape the trial as the killer takes the stun. DS has an incredible amount of benefits over NOED and has practically no downsides for doing so, outside of having 3 perks for the entire game should you choose to use it early on.

Literally just take DS stun
Make it so DS has multiple uses and deactivates after a survivor performs any action but vaulting and throwing down pallets and I will gladly take it.
NOED is a punishment for you not doing totems. DS is meant to be a punishment for the Killer tunneling survivors, but at the moment is a punishment for the Killer hooking survivors in general. If you've got time to do gens or heal, you're not being tunneled.
-
Literally just do totems

I love all of this, but at this point, I would legitimately be content if they just got rid of a missed attack cancelling Frenzy. As a console pleb, constant low frames makes it really easy to miss basic attacks constantly on certain maps.

Not really....
Bt counters camping...ds tunneling...unbreakable slugging...adrenaline is a reward for doing objectives....Noed is a reward for failure to do their objectives.
Play it if you want...but if you constantly rely on it. .then it seems one would constantly be allowing gates to be powered.
These kinds of claims can be made in favor of NOED too. NOED counters Survivors unga bunga'ing through gens and not bothering to do totems.
-
Borrowed Time is a reward for making stupid plays.
Decisive Strike is a reward for getting picked up.
Unbreakable is a reward for getting downed.
Head On is a reward for getting caught.
We can make these kinds of comments all day.
-
I do it occasionally (four toolboxes is a nope from me), but I've never gotten matched with the same lobby twice.

Everyone uses it in CoD, what lmao
I genuinely can't run into an MW lobby without people screaming at each other. I haven't played Siege in a while, but I do remember most of the time players would invite everyone on their team into a party. I haven't played the latest Battlefield tho so I can't speak on that.

How would it balance it equally? Let me run a scenario here. Two friends join a lobby, one stays on on side of the map, the other on the opposite side. Both are with the other two solo survivors, however, they're still talking across the map. Now they can relay information to each other and pass it on to the solo's.
Mm, yeah, I see what you mean. It's a tricky situation to balance and it's why I don't envy the jobs of the balancing team.

I sort of agree with this idea, however, only on the exceptions that SWF is removed from public matchmaking (Custom can do whatever), the voice chat is local (meaning that it varies based on Survivor location) and that the Killer can hear it.
Idk about removing SWF from public matchmaking since voice chat would allow survivor balance to affect both solos and SWFs near equally, but I agree with the other two. The Killer's ability to hear them should be proximity-based as well.
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1131078#Comment_1131078
It isn't cheating, it never has been and never will be.
Adding voice chat will make things a lot more toxic, but, yes it would allow for a new area to balance.
The amount of Solo players not in voice chat will leave us in the same spot as we are now. If we balance assuming everyone uses it, we hurt 75% of Solo players. If we don't, we hurt a lot of Killers.
I agree that it's acceptable and should be allowed in the game, but it is inherently cheating. The game is not currently designed with verbal survivor communication in mind, so platforms that allow it are objectively unfair and break the conventions the game is built around.
Maybe it's just because I'm a console player, but I feel like the majority of solo survivors would use voice chat. It would be an incredible disadvantage to those not using it to the point where it'd be almost a necessity.
-
I genuinely feel like the devs hate Legion and regret implementing him for some reason. Idk why, I just get that vibe from how he's treated.
-
@Pulsar said:
People should be allowed to play with their friends.
Buff Solo's to SWF levels, then buff Killers accordingly.
Or just add voice chat and balance around that instead of going on about preserving your "vision" for the game and then also saying that a practice that outright ignores that "vision" isn't cheating.
-
Either this or just add voice chat and start balancing around it.
The game quite obviously isn't designed with survivor communication in mind, so regardless of what the devs say, SWF is inherently unfair. It's pretty much socially acceptable cheating. And rightfully so- who wouldn't wanna play with their friends? But people who say SWF aren't a major problem with this game are kinda just wrong. There's almost no point in playing a stealth killer like Wraith or Ghost Face because an SWF squad will just constantly be telling each other where you are exactly.
EDIT: Or block SWFs from running the same perks.
-
The red-purple rank SWFs that flashlight blind and teabag my rank 12 ass every match are actually starting to make me feel like #########, so there's something.
