Survivors say
This is why players gen rush as they need a way to be able to punish camping, slugging and tunelling.
Killers say
This is why players camp, slug and tunnel as they need a way to punish the gen rush and second chance perks.
Each side says they play a certain way as its the only way to win versus the other strat.
The issue then will always come down to when its not the only way to win a match and they still do it. I can't see things truly changing until the players mindset does. The only problem with that is it needs those that will always take advantage of what they can not too. Its a never ending cycle.

It sounds like a server sync bug. Try restarting the platform you are on and then reload the game.
If that doesn't help send a ticket in to support using the link below.

I wouldn't call that a win because I didn't need any skill or brain to win in that situation.
Didn't do the objective at all, but got away because of a ######### mechanic.
They need to keep the whole "if you haven't done enough gens, hatch won't spawn" thing because there are so many times where I'll kill 3 people and then hatch spawns on top of the last guy and they get away without any skill needed.
They did try this but all that happened was the game would go on for longer then they wanted as the only option for survivor was to stealth around trying to do gens.
As a killer would you rather spend a lot of time looking for a survivor or have the game end asap?

Yes but a win or loss is team based. You may have done well, you may have escaped, but as a team you still lost. A baseball player can be the mvp of the night and still tske an L if tge rest of his team sucked that night. This mentality you have is tge reason survivors take it personally when a killer camps or tunnels. Its why they beg for a lot of the nerfs and make a lot of tge complaints they do. You see this game as 1v1, its not. Its a 4v1. You lost.
You seem to not realize the concept of what DBD is. While survivors have a common goal they are not a team in the normal sense. The game is pitched as a help others or dont. It's a choice and not a forced concept.
Team games you always win or lose as a whole and one person can save it for the others while in DBD others dying has really no bearing on your end goal as you still have the chance too escape and the others gain nothing from you escaping.
This isnt the reason survivors complain about such things like camping. The reason is that it makes for a bad experience and removes being able to take part in the game itself.
-
I can't see any definite answer they can give you on this as all they have said right now is it is something they would like to do and not that it will definitely happen.
Also when it comes to dlc chars, perks and skins they may have to broker a deal with the ones which are licensed.
-
That all depends on whether the bug is a simple fix like the cake so it can be done quickly and then pushed when approved.
-
They are by working on fixing the servers as they are what is causing the issue with what you described.

Has anyone had any experiences where other people have brought Gateaus/bps but you only get the bps for whatever you bring in?
I’ve tried to circumnavigate the issue with swf by getting everyone to bring in one bloody party streamers/one gateau, bound envelopes/escape cakes etc to ensure the most bps, but most games I played yesterday we only got bps for the streamers, or the gateau, or just for whatever we brought in. We specifically made it so it should have been 300% bonus and I still got 50k despite making 30k points.
Do gateaus cancel other bloodpoints offerings or something? We constantly had issues with bloodpoints not registering yesterday. I have 26 gateaus on Jane so we tried it enough times to see an issue.
They have been bugged since the event started whoch has been acknowledged by the devs.
They are working on it and have extended the event by another week and logging in between July the 7th and the 14 with give you a one off bloodpoint bonus.
-
@MassiveLegend said:
do we know how many bloodpoints it will be ?
They haven't said How much for now and i'd wager it will be kept as a surprise. We will just have to wait and see when we log on 😉.
-
While cakes and offering can seem better its not always the case yes the killer is in control but most games don't go with a mori after 2 hooks and ive seen some killers get say 8k.
While killer does on average get a bit more points I don't think the disparity is as high as it seems.
-

-
Its a gage for ranking up in a sense as 2k is an average. If you get over 2k then you technically are above average in theory and these are the players who should find themselvesin red ranks.
Now its not just about killing but also how well you do in other aspects. As the best players can win chases fast, do multiple hooks, basically put out pressure all the while the survivors still have hope to feed the entity.
So in terms of lore securing even 4 kills by say slugging, camping or doing it too quicklywould displease the entity as the survivor didn't have a lot of hope to feed it.
In terms of the game though not ranking up due to being matched with lower skilled players is an issue as sometimes you can't help but just be a lot better than them. There is also the issue that certain killers do better in some emblems than others like Legion being great at gaining emblems while Billy gets punished for using his power. This is why a lot have asked for the all for one system to be looked at.
Then there is of course each individual person who has their own ideal of what they want to get out of a match and its why a lot of people say rank doesn't matter.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I do think that things that are there purely "for fun" do have a place in DBD, but both moris and keys are unfun. On both sides. It's pretty obvious that losing just because the enemy team has a Mori/Key is unfun, but even using this isn't fun ... It's a pretty hollow victory, because you know you didn't outskill anyone, you just brought an op af item/offering in, sure it can sometimes be fun when you escape by an inch with a key or Mori a toxic survivor (still only for the user's side.), but those are such edgecases ... It's not worth keeping such unhealthy things in the game just for said edgecases.
That depends what side you are on. Mori's will be fun for some killer players and keys will be fun for survivor players. You may think they are not but ones opinion doesn't make it a fact for all.
Your comment goes back to what is said when you mention win or lose, instead of looking at how these can make players change up how they play. You focus on the outcome only.
Outskilled doesn't have to come into it with these as again they are designed not with perfect balance in mind but as something really powerful which changes up the game.
I dont think anyone on the dev team has ever said they were meant to be balanced. For some reason players want this game to be perfectly balanced and all things that are or seem to be overpowered taken out without thinking maybe that is part of what makes the game so unique and why it does so well.
-
Yes they are overpowered but technically that is by design. Its a game more about fun than balance and I feel players look too much towards an outcome of winning or 100% balance than just enjoying the game for what it is.
-
Its just skins and they are optional and never needed.
A pizza isn't needed either but since you are willing to pay $10 for one dinning experience or a one time use. If you like a skin for the price of $10 it can be used for your whole playtime throughout the game. The value of the skin then technically is worth more as you can equate it to hours played. Play 100 hours and it has cost you $0.10 an hour.
-
its probably due to survivors needing to escape and really what is the point in staying to farm until the cakes are working?
Each player has a range of characters to play if they want all the cosmetics so there will be rushing from a lot of players.
Both sides are as bad as each other In any events. I myself managed a few survivor games to try and get crowns last night on various chars with 3 out of the 6 having ebony mori's. This could also be a good reason to rush and try to secure the crown.
It works both ways unfortunately.
-
To be fair every event has had the same issues as they change how people play. They have tried numerous ideas now.
The Hallowed blight which many liked and many hated was the same as players would suicide after filling the vial.
Personally my favorite ones were the ones with event hooks and gens as they didn't detract from normal gameplay as much as the second objective like the pustuals and crowns. All they needed to do was change the event hooks so they couldn't be saboed.
-
Its possible they may give them away in the future anything can happen but it's also possible they follow the same suit as the more recent events and will be available to buy in the store only for those that may have missed out.

The only issue I have with it tbh. It's impossible when they have a common name to find their ID
You don't need a steam ID for chat logs just report at the end of the game.
This gives the devs the person's unique DBD user ID and they can look up the chat logs of the match.
-
Its possible and I'm sure it was considered and one of the reasons.
One of the other reasons was probably so survivor's like the vial scenario did not just suicide on the hook after getting the crown.
-
Who know they may well decide to release the free track ones in the future but that is up to them and since the skins given today were released a long time after the event then everyone may have to wait for that to happen.
The paid track of course is different having a monetary value and they should be on the store soon enough so everyone can have a way to get them

They did its in the rules.
A pinned statement won't help as they cant make someone read it and not post. Plus most are about why they should change it not that its not a legit tactic.
-
They won't make a queue which would separate solo and swf as it would increase queue time for both killer and swf.
This has been suggested many times over the years and its not logical as the ones who post it would never play in the "unranked" where swf is playing ergo my first point.
-
The issue with leaving posts is you never know if they did. Take steam forums some users posting still play the game. Maybe not as much but they never left.
Even the peak numbers don't represent much apart from active players. In a day it could be over 1 millions logged in for example and that is just one platform.
On here if there are say 10 posts that could be over 5 platforms due to pc having 2 now.
Overall people will always leave and vets can be some of the ones too go. I myself take breaks now and again as i play other games too. The games survival has to rely on new blood like all games in reality.
-
Yes it's a very fun game and there I'd a reason it is the only assymetrical horror game which has been so successful.
My advice is to play and have fun, don't take it too seriously and don't get caught up in the forum or the end game chat drama.
Play both sides and find the role you prefer. It's always good to mix it up niw and again as it gives a better persepective on the other sides woes.
The game can have balance issues for a new player due to matchmaking atm which is being worked on but its a game which will never have esports balance.
It has a high learning curve and a large grind but its a good time to start as an anniversary event is happening on the 23rd of this month which hopefully will give more blood points to level up characters fast for a while.
-
Very nicely done
-
This happens with every new killer.
It's a mix of not knowing how to play versus the new killer and having to learn how to play him well.
We don't learn that much at the start as it can feel easy, it's only when we start to be challenged do we start to think more and mix up what we do ourselves which makes us become better with them.

Yeah its possible I never said it was but as @Always_available said they played for hours daily, the devs have stated before that they tried to model tier profression around the typical average daily play time which is 1 hour but this isn't the case especially given volatile queue times and I've seen quite a few people on the same boat
I do obviously think that tiers shouldn't just be handed out to you but I think that it should not be so difficult to progress through the pass if you miss a couple of days or dont play for hours on end every day, it's a bit excessive right now. I'd even settle if they just gave a boost to people who bought the premium pass since they spent actual money on it and it would be a bigger incentive to buy it.
Honestly I don't see how anyone at all misses out on lowering the progression requirements of the rift tiers a bit
The rift like all battlepasses is not designed to be completed by everyone or it makes no money as players will get it for free each time.
The battle pass business model has always been about the majority not quite making it so they keep buying some cells to top it up or buy the rest of the tiers to complete it. Unfortunately it seems you fall into this camp.
Since they always said you can progress through the free one at the same speed and then buy it and reap the rewards if they put in even a slight booster for those purchasing the pass at the beginning it negates that principle.
This is personally why I never buy battlepasses.
-
Cosmetics bring in revenue and help the actual content keep being sold for a lower price.
When it comes to licensed dlc and ccosmetic there are two parties which want to profit from it hence they can be more expensive.
Not liking how its done or the price is not a valid issue as its an optional purchase which isn't needed to play the game.
This then comes down to a want over a need.

I usually run BBQ for the bloodpoints but if I hook someone and notice that no one is highlighted, that usually means they're close by, so yeah absolutely I'll stay within the vicinity!
To be fair BBQ has so many counters now that hide your aura its never guaranteed they are close.
What those who complained about the perk failed to realise was BBQ was designed to help with camping and without seeing aura's a lot of killers will do just what you do.

Well if that was the case questions should have been strictly for the dlc/4th anniversary but there were many miscellaneous questions also and when a question was asked about the upcoming event they couldn't answer it? in my opinion this actually felt more like a general Q&A and even if it wasn't i think the next gen of consoles and there plans need addressing sooner rather than later. i think the whole thing could have been done to a much higher quality in terms of questions no?
The event itself is part of the 4th year anniversary. It's therefore a relevant question on the topics being discussed which they should answer to let people know if they information or not.
Right now they don't have anything they can share so they answered letting them know when they will.
Yes other questions are out there which could do with being answered but as I said that is for another Q&A or when they have Information they can let us know about them by posting on the news section on this forum.
-
The Q&A was specifically done to answer questions about the 4th year aniversary and the silent hill DLC anyone has about them.
This has been a common theme with the past DLC's and the thread they make for the user base to ask questions states to only ask ones pertaining to certain topics as they don't have time to cover everything.
Its understandable being the first stream you watched to not fully understand why some questions were not touched upon. For the future watch out for a more general Q&A stream when they happen.
-
Thank you again for doing this. I've always appreciated how much work you put into these posts.
I hope to see you back with a red avatar soon.
Best wishes.
-
I do use hook charms as they add a little something.
Survivor well my favorite cosmetic has a jacket and that covers the charms so its kinda pointless to put any on.
They are just cosmetics and never stated to be anything else. Any and all cosmetics can be seen as pointless to some its all a matter of personal opinion.
-
Personally I dislike the map.
It looks really nice and pays homage to silent hill really well I just find it very boring to play on. Its like a mix of Haddonfield with those long fences and Hawkins with the less mind gameable pallets.
I like to feel like I outplay the other side and not just be granted a hit.
The corridors are too long and need more breaks into the center area along with more places on the second floor to drop down.
I hope they make some changes to it soon.

We can go on and brainstorm a thousand ideas that would at least improve the situation. Kindred basekit has been suggested many times, for example. Make it so that hook grabs don't work anymore, similar to the hatch, so at least survivors can get a 1v1, which is still advantageous for the killer. Make BT proc upon any unhook so it's not cheese countered by sneaky camps. Disconnect hook time and hook stages, i.e. you die on your third hook or after 2 minutes total, so instant re-hooks are not as rewarding. There are many possibilities that could at least be considered and tested to see how they work out. Obviously, it doesn't have to be all of them. Do that and stuff like DS could be nerfed into oblivion and the game still be fair.
But the devs are convinced otherwise. @Almo says that it's the survivors that reward camping, despite evidence that is not always the case. @Peanits says that camping is an intended mechanic because it can be punished by survivors, despite solos not having anywhere near enough information to do that. On top of that we get Pyramid Head and his cages that don't count as hooks for anything except... wait for it.... hook stages. Oh and moris, they count for moris too somehow. It seems clear that 'consistency' is something that is used very conveniently as justification only for those changes that are cherry-picked.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1363864#Comment_1363864
This is exactly what killed Deathgarden. Just saying. Nobody likes to load into a casual game and have an insignificant chance to play it. Again, another issue, because the devs view DbD as competitive, despite the bugs and the plethora of unbalanced items and features.
Solos to have the information if they wish to use a perk for it. Kindred was designed specifically for this. Basekit kindred while seems like good idea gave more information than they wanted without a perk being needed and it doesn't just help solos but swf also since they can get info if they can't see a stealth killer. That is just something we have to accept.
The rest is down to the players not the game, those who give up on hook reward it, those who try and bait the killer reward it. Those who refuse to gens reward it. I would bet these same player will probably complain about being camped but refuse to help punish it by using what they have.
Most things within the game don't lead to the devs thinking the game is competative but actually leans more to a casual experience. If it was competative mori's, keys, certain perks along with many other things would not be part of the game at all as they completely change it and remove the competitiveness for an easier time.
Pyramid head cages actually goes against camping as the cage itself spawns far away from the killer. Survivors can then run to the other side quicker than them. The mori well it needs survivors to be under a condition so its not simply given. Again both of these tend to not lead to competative play imo as they negate perks on both sides.
This isn't what killed deathgarden. The issue with deathgarden was actually listening too much to the community and the first major change done removed the fear of the hunter. The DBD devs listen and take feedback but most just isn't actually that good and this game has lasted 4 years and continues to do well. I would say they should stick to what they decide to implement as it seems to keep the majority happy as the daily player numbers themselves say much more than the people on a forum.
-
Then as the tip says survivors should punish the act by doing gens.
If you feed this act then you are the only one truly at fault as you made it worthwhile and rewarded them. If they do this and the rest do gens and get out and the person stays on the hook for the duration of the camp the killer gains very little BP and 1 or 2 kills at most. This makes it not worthwhile to do so hopefully they will eventually end up changing how they play.
When playing survivor we hold the power and while it may be horrible for the person on the hook its a small price to pay to try and change someone's mentality.
-
The problem was that some abused those setting so they had to be locked. They gave way too many advantages which had been documented.
Half Life 2 isn't a great example as its a very old game so practically any pc can run it.

If it doesn't have the voice it is incomplete, and if it is incomplete they should have waited to release the skin.
No skin has ever had separate voices they just change the look of a character so its not incomplete as a different voice was never mentioned. Its just not what one wished it to be.
Thats not to say they won't be thinking about making changes after the feedback but that may not be possible to do quickly as it would have to be part of the original deal made with Konami. This would mean asking them for permission since any changes to licensed dlc or cosmetics need to be agreed upon in the contract by both parties.

Those are some nice stats and a very interesting read.
Thank you for taking the time to do this and write out the results.

The thing is, something being rare does not make it balanced. I mean, currently Moris are not rare, especially the Ebony Mori is more of an yellow Bloodweb Item than a pink one.
Buf if they would be as rare as you suggest, they would also need to be removed from Killers who already have them. Because there are people with Hundreds of Ebony Moris on their Killers. And while this would be logical to remove them, it would not really be fair.
Nothing will stop people hoarding items or offerings or those who have already done so but that doesn't mean a change shouldn't happen which helps in the future.
The game isn't meant to be 100% balanced with these items as they are designed to be complete game changers.
As I said items like this aren't the issue as the use of them is by design but its seeing them way too often along with players taking the game too seriously when they are used.

One of the problems with that is, as a killer main, you will get mori daily rituals regularly, and having to level 10-20 bloodwebs just gto get a dailyu done will make it painful to accomplish.
Survivors get daily rituals that dont ask them to do anything out of the ordinary, for example "repair gens for 120 seconds" you do that normally and theres no challenge to it, killer mains get mori rituals that you have to have a offering to even do. Rituals need balancing.
Those can be changed of course but even then it would stop players using them every other game as right now I can get 10 mori's easily in say 5 bloodwebs with how rng it is now.
The same with keys if rng favors you then you will have too many appear. Then there are chests. Using plunderers I got 3 keys in 4 games.
These items are complained about not just because of what they are but more so how often they are seen.
-
Probably never as they have already been nerfed. Before a killer could mori instantly.
The only change I would like to see are Mori's and keys to actually be extremely rare and have a set pattern so say one in every 10 or 20 bloodwebs. I don't mind over powered items or offerings but they should not be the norm imo.
-
Its an emblem system issue.
This happens on both sides and just one of many reasons they added the DC penalty.
As killer if you kill too quickly or players dc you can depip.
As survivor if you are camped or tunneled out the game you can depip.
Emblems are a way to try an make players engage more so they don't just use the quickest methods. It works in some ways but it's infuriating in others.
As for the report don't worry as it will come to nothing.

imagine you wanted a bag of chips. The coverage looks good, the words that are written on it are promising. You really want it. There's the issue, the one who made this bag of chips grabs it and waves it in front of you as if they were teasing you. The one holding tells you that you need to pay the astronomical amount of money for it. You gather a good chunk of money you had for these delicious chips you were looking for. You get them, open the bag and... Nearly the 2/3 of the bag filled with air and the chips themselves don't even taste good.
You get the feelings? We want to get Lisa. We are ready to spend money on her. The "bag" looks promising, it's the overall model and menu animation look cute. The "inside" part (the voice, the lobby name, the lore) is bad. I want the skin but I don't like how it was treated during the development. That's why I complain to begin with. And I have the right to complain about it considering the price.
You got Lisa and what she is is probably due to the deal that could be made.
Lisa was always stated to be a legendary skin.
The character themselves is not owned by BHVR and as such they may only be able to do so much.
Of course you can complain but have you considered what you want may not be something BHVR can actually do with the her? Licensed deals are not just down to what they would like to do but more so what they are allowed too.
Who knows it may change over time but like Bill on console or Freddy on switch its not a decision they can always make alone.

I didn't bought it but... remember what BHVR said "You can play as an entirely different character", Legion with Nea clothes is still legion... just saying.
They said it when the PTB started, that excuse would work if you are intending to buy X license, if they said a year or so ago "we are planning to get Lisa's license so you could play as her" and then along the way they couldn't do what they planned, then sure, that's ok BUT... they actually had Lisa when they told people about it.
Thats all about context and interpretation.
Lisa is in fact a different character in terms of being from Silent hill. So you can play as a different character from that series by using Cheryl's legendary skin Or cosmetic which is listed in the link below.
Now like all skins nothing else changes apart from appearance.
The Entity welcomes Silent Hill into the fog. Customize your character with a dedicated collection of outfits available in the in-game store, inspired by some of the most iconic characters from the Silent Hill.A full blown character in DBD always comes with a set perks. Its different than Steve and Nancy in stranger things dlc for example.

Always remember licensed content can cost more due to profit sharing. Its also down to the licensee what they can and cannot do.
To give her another voice could be more expensive as its another character not just a skin which could mean a different deal made.
Skins are also an optional. If one doesn't like it you don't have to purchase it.

They need to be named because 5 MONTHS later they still do it. I ve got the same problem they are just annoying AF. I encounter all the time they get more toxic each time. So what's next ?
As stated in the post already you need to record the matches and also report them after each game. Then you upload the videos to a site like YouTube and attach these to a ticket you can submit on the dbd support site using the link below.
Copyright © 2019 Behaviour Interactive. All rights reserved. This is all you can do and it must be clear they are teaming in the video before stern action will be taken.

if you are referencing the power then it makes sense.
The cannibal is a standard 115% killer who has to chase to down with no other mechanics apart from the insta down saw which can be avoided.
The spirit has a power which enables map along with mind and guessing games. There is a reason she is considered one of the strongest killers. Removing the cool down would make her OP.
The Doctor actually has two powers. One which he can always use and helps in a chase and another which is on Cookson which adds madness and shows any survivor who is near. Madness when full also slows the game down as survivors need to snap out of it before doing actions such as gens.
The difference is clear between these killers and why the cannibal is considered lower tiered than the others.

Using hex perks are a choice. They have always been designed to be risk v reward. The more hex perks you use the more you risk playing with less perks but they also mean survivors will do totems taking them off gens.
While some hex perks don't really seem strong at the start they most always gain in strength as the game progresses. Without being able to cleanse them they could be too strong in certain scenarios leading to prolonged games.
Personally I don't use them as I find other perks more useful for how I play.
