Well the shrine shouldn't kill all survivors then, just 1?
EGC triggers when third survivor dies is best way to, well, end the game. The hatch should not exist, it's just a free out-of-jail for survivors.
There is still the issue of balance. Since it is meant to be on 2 die 2 escape then it skews this and if the kill rates go up then you know that means more nerfs for killer. Your idea is to flip it so killers have a 50/50 chance to kill instantly instead. As always be careful what you wish for.
Its not a free escape this way of thinking is wrong as its still a 50/50 chance. A free escape would be guaranteed.

Three dead survivors, one remaining get a free out of jail card.
Not an advantage to survivors, how so? It's like having penalty kicks when the teams are not at a draw, but one is losing, and then saying it's a 50/50 chance.
Because the killer has an equal chance to find the hatch before the survivor. That is why it is 50/50.
Ask yourself honestly how many survivors do you actually lose too in this scenario?
You keep going to it being free escape instead of looking at it what it is. A way to end the game.
If you really think by saying this shrine idea of killing all survivors compared to one having a possibility of escaping is even remotely is the same or a good comparison I don't know what else to say.
Killing all 4 survivors should be hard. It's not meant to be the norm and only the best of the best should be able too.
Think about this. The more a 4k happens the more killers will be nerfed. Think outside the box instead of complaining about a mechanic where both sides have an equal chance.

The EGC is a step forward for sure, does not mean the hatch is not a poor design.
There are better solutions to "end game quicker" without giving the bigger advantage to survivors, don't you agree?
The hatch isn't actually an advantage to survivors as its a 50/50 chance on who finds it first.

Incorrect. It doesn't specify that camping refers to killer only. Camping is camping.
Holding game hostage means that game can't end without a DC, for example if you body blocked last survivor. Camping game can end by one of the sides completing the objective.
Not doing objective refers to AFK. They obviously were not AFK or he would find them with crows.
They are doing objective. Surviving as long as possible is one of the objectives. You even get BPs for that in survival category.
Camping Is in fact only referred to from the killer standpoint nothing to do with survivor gameplay.
This does constitute holding the game hostage as it does not simply cover blocking someone but also in this case the survivors are not actively engaging in trying to do the objective as they did not touch a gen.
This is bannable and has been stated as such many times by the devs.
The op of course would need video evidence to show this.
-
The hatch itself is a mechanic not designed to give an escape but to make it a race for both sides to find it first and simply help end the game quicker nothing else.
The egc was the only thing needed for the hatch to work as intended.
-
I use them on killer as they look quite cool on the hook.
Survivors I never equip them tbh as they dont add anything to the cosmetic imo.

The problem at the moment is that the new MMR is not in place yet so you want to try pig you ready up and your locked into playing pig (which is at your current rank), while in the lobby the survivors all decide to change there items and all bring in flashlight the only thing you can do is hope you have perks that can counter the survivors/items your facing or dodge the lobby.
So right now using your example you have killers with a 500 mmr vs survivors with a 1500 mmr and if you see the survivors are decked out with map, key, flashlights if you don't have any perks to counter any thing they bring in perks/items how do you think the match will go for that killer.
That's the problem a lot off people have and why they think survivors should be locked or at least there items when they ready up, until the MMR is in place they are forcing a 500 mmr killer to vs a 1500 mmr survivor.
Thats due to this needing implemented in a patch while the matchmaking changes do not. That tends to say its almost here.

Preventing quickswitching has been asked for for a significantly longer amount of time. The Dev's have proved that they will happily lock characters so you cannot switch to get a giant advantage. So why only affect one side with it?
You forget quickswitching never came about until players started dodging lobbies. Players did not switch to gain an advantage primarily they switched to use what the game offered.
These are two differnet things as one is trying to use what is allowed and the other would be using the system to verse lower ranked players. If players accepted what the game was none of this would be an issue.
This is also why if you read above i already covered that as to sort this a punishment for dodging lobbies would be needed along with locking survivors in at say 30s so killer can change perks as otherwise too many would dodge.

No. Because it can also affect gameplay. A Survivor shouldn't be able to switch from a Survivor they have no perks on to one there fully geared out and get it out on if Killers cannot do the same it is unfair.
I don't think you quite understand.
Say mmr has a rating which goes from 1-2000.
Survivor has one mmr, say they have a fully decked survivor and have a rating of 1500. Even if they chose to play with a new char and no perks they will be matched using that 1500 mmr rating.
A Killer player has a rating of 1500 on Huntress. They want to try Pig with no perks. They will be matched at a lower mmr. For arguments sake I will say possibly 500 (we don't know how much it will change atm)
Now take a scenario and they start with pig to match make at 500 mmr and once in the lobby they change to huntress. So they are a 1500 rated killer and versing survivors in the 500 bracket.
-
The difference is changing survivors doesn't affect the mmr rating as they all share one.
The only way to sort it really is to punish lobby dodging and also lock survivors in half way through the time so killer can setup perks.
Remember this change was done as many asked for it. It makes it more viable to try killers players are not familiar with.
Id imagine a lobby punishment would also be met with complaints.

The problem is probably it will increase the amount of "played" killers on the killer side but will decrease the amount of variety of killers "played against" (atleast in high rank/survivor mmr) due to some killer performing way better than others while survivor have there on MMR across the board.
But maybe the devs will manage to bring all killer at an equal power level at some point.
It could go either way but the argument why this was asked for was players didn't want to try other killers in high ranks in the first place.
So in theory this gives players a chance to learn a killer they don't know how to play which then in the long run could mean more variety in the high ranks. Time will tell of course.

Survivors will abuse that fact that your locked into a certain killer, because that's exactly what i would do.
It's not optimal for a someone to main killer to choose someone below top tier if they are locked into what they are vs'ing.
As survivor who's rank will be the same across the board, means your going to be vs'ing those same killers constantly if your in high ranks, because no-one is going to choose a sub par killer that can't deal with flashlights, medkits, gen rush etc.
There already is a lack of killer variety at red ranks for this reason and this is just going to strengthen that.
While that is true for now as this is the only change, when the new mmr system is put into place in theory that should allow players to choose a killer they want to play rather than feel they have to play.increasing the variety of who you wish to use.
This change needed to be done in a patch while the mmr system doesn't. This says to myself that the mmr system is planned to be implemented pretty soon.
-
Leatherface for BBQ as it will make getting the others easier and grinding for them on the chars you want with double bloodpoints.
-
On paper it has always sounded like a fun idea but in practice it would ruin diversity and instead of meta perks it creates a survivor meta as people will always flock to the ones which they feel give the best bonus.
-
It seems like an issue with what is stored at their end compared to what your system is saying.
I would try deleting the game and removing everything related to dbd from your system. Restarting the system and then reinstall the game. It may then pull the data back from their servers.
-
The main point with the deathgarden shirts is the monetary value attached to them. If they give them out they would have to give all skins out with the same conditions like the blood letting one. Deathgarden was advertised with those skins as part of the purchase.
Now ones which were given out for free at game conventions are different as people paid money for the convention tickets but the skin was free for visiting the stand and not part of the ticket purchase itself.
These were also codes and not tied to the account so they gave them out as many people were being scammed online and they had a means of stopping that from happening and so they did.
Game event exclusives well I had them all by playing and I feel they were extremely easy to obtain and I also feel it was something they went back on as they found they couldn't track the data needed to get in the skins to those that lost them.
Legacy is a hot topic for those that lost them of course. I think they should do something for those players. Since they can see user data now and who has what along with steam achievements a simple way to fix this is to just give one legacy skin for each side of the players choosing. They may have had more but I feel one is better than none.

They are engaging the game. As long as they are not AFK they are engaging
Not according to the rules and its why it is bannable.
Engaging in the game means actively trying to do the in game objective of gens or hooking/killing survivors.
If you do neither of those and prolong the game by a silly amount and it cannot end due to your actions then you can be banned.

There's no timer on gens. So it's not a hostage situation. The games been developed this way. No one was asked or forced to DC. It's a choice
The act of not engaging so the game cannot finish is something which can be done h3nce its classed as a hostage situation.
This is why hostage situations are bannable as per the game rules.
Yes no one needs to dc but let's be honest after 20+ mins of not being chased or someone stealthing from locker to locker you would either give up or dc out. The situation is the same and why I said its not about the op DCing its about the act itself.
-

Rather than DC. Face a wall. Get BPs. Game finishes. No one holds it hostage. The OP decided he couldn't take it so DCs
Its not about the OP dcing its about players not engaging in the game by means of doing the objective when a hostage situation occurs.
-
@Frareid88 said:
Can't reply to all 4 comments above. But it's 3 v 1.just the oppiste of a real game. Just because survivors can hide in lockers for an endless time, but when they get downed and the killer just stares at them and has a timer, what really makes this different? The fact the killer got fed up and DCd. JuSt RuN iRoN mAiDen
A Hostage situation by definition means the game will not end unless someone dc's. Its a very simple concept.
This is why when survivors hide as in the ops situation its considered holding the game hostage since they are not doing the objective.
If a killer has 3 gens close and refuses to chase and just hits and walks back prolonging the game for 20+ minutes that can also fall under the same bracket.
If a survivor is bleeding and they let it happen its not a hostage situation as the game ends within 4 minutes. While its considered being toxic its not a hostage situation.
-
Personally I get no freezes playing on PC using with an i7 and gtx1070 with 16gb of ram.
Some more info could be helpful.
Platform you play on - steam, ms store, ps4, ps4 pro, xbox one, switch.
If on pc what are your specs and what graphics options do you run?
Does it happen every time or is it random?
Does it happen more on certain maps or versing certain killers?
-
If they start by trash talking i generally leave instantly.
If they say something ban worthy before that report them and they will be dealt with which may just make them not do it again once the ban hammer hits them.
These players need a harsh lesson in manners and its an unfortunate part of playing online games that people seem to think they can say whatever they want.
There is no ignoring what some say and growing a thicker skin which many post saying isn't something anyone should need to do when players are abusive.
-
I can see why they have it this way as its advertising the current chapter.
I do really like this idea however and wish we could change it.
I would love a background with the halloween music playing with the strode house in the distance and Myers looking out from behind a hedge row stalking Laurie walking home.
-
inner strength for healing, detectives for seeing totems, wglf for blood points and the last I generally use iron will, quick and quiet, bond or bt.
I sometimes switch out wglf and mix in and random others for fun.

Meh. They still didn't respond or took an action about it, eventho' i sent 4 vids / pics and his profile. So from now on, i won't report them, let them be free on servers, why should i care if the devs can't ban a cheater, but they are playing all day dbd on twitch, right? Right.
That all depends on what proof you had of course as it does need to show 100% it was a cheat. You should also show the match or s decent amount of playtime and not just random clips of something that happened.
The devs when on twitch they are off the clock so no longer working. It is their free time to do what they please.

Half the rift is behind a $10 pay wall and you can only get your money back if you finish the entire rift where as you said, is designed for people not to finish so they have to spend more money to complete it. Regardless, you still have to spend money.
Half the rift isn't behind a pay wall only the cosmetics in the pay side which is exactly how all battlepasses work.
That is what all battlepasses. These systems are designed to make money of course and keep people playing the game with something else to strive for. What is in the rift takes people to design and make and they of course need paid for that work. Would work for no pay?
That is why these systems are designed with those who really put in the hours to get it for free but I would day most probably won't and each month they may be another 2 dollars or more to get the next one ir they can spend some to complete the current one if they want A specific cosmetic. Its all about choices.
You can complete the free rift if one has enough time to play and gain all the free items from it. You can do all the challenges for the lore and if you can't finish them all in time you can go back and do them as these are always available even if it is closed.
Always remember they are just cosmetics and no cosmetics are ever needed in any game. If you have the time or disposable income and you enjoy having these cosmetics you can chose to purchase it. If you don't or just want to play the game you can choose to ignore it.

Okay so you're saying rather than do anything to make the rift tolerable like other games, simply ignore the problem, play the game 2-3 hours a day while the challenges become gradually harder, or spend my money? You're right that it's a want, just like this entire game is. I can just quit playing this game altogether and spend my time with another game that's easier to do game passes and isn't as repetitive.
The ridt is tolerable for a lot of players. If not a lot more complaints would be posted.
Many other games the rift may be tolerable for you but those that can't complete it may feel how you feel about this games one. The rift then is tolerable for some just not for others which again is a personal feeling.
The fact the rift is optional means you have to spend no money what so ever for it that is why its a want and not a need. You can freely play the game in its entirety ignoring the rift completely if you so wish or play another game like you said.

You excluded challenges that require you to play certain characters like Kate and Jane for example. Same goes for killers like Legion and Spirit. Some of the cosmetics also go to characters you may not even own or play. The rift wouldn't be a problem if the more difficult challenges didn't require you to play the game abnormally or to be in very strict circumstances that hardly happen. The only thing from the Rift that can be used on every character are the charms and unlike rift cosmetics, they'll never be rereleased. It's also unlike this game that I can't actually finish the rift on time when I could with Rainbow Six, Brawl Stars, and Apex Legends.
Everything you mentioned is optional. None of the rift is ever needed to play the game for what it is. The rift is an extra and something you can choose to participate in its not forced.
I've said it many times the rift is a want not a need. These system's only work due to the people who pay for them and make them possible as if they made no money then the work making one wouldn't be warranted.
You may finish the ones in other games but how many other players do not?

So you're telling me it's not enough for the devs to pay $25-$50 for the game, dlcs for characters that are in the rift, $10 for every single outfit you buy, and $10 to get the other half of items in premium rift? Are the devs really that greedy?
Well The game is only $20 at full price and goes on sale a few times a year for $7.99 and most of the dlc you can earn for free by playing.
The dlc is $7 if you wish to buy it but only licensed is not available to earn due to the licensee getting a portion of the sale.
Cosmetics are in part what can keep the dlc lower in price and like the rift are a choice. You don't need any of these to play the game.
The whole battlepass concept for any and all games is the same. Designed to give you far more for the money you spend even if you reached 40% of it but its still a lure to keep people paying.
You can play this game of course without buying any dlc and stick to base characters and wait for the shrine to give certain perks which may be weeks or a year. Still its an option.

Am I the only one who thinks BHVR's reporting feature is a completely futile endeavor? Is the expectation that everyone is a streamer and records every game they play, just in case there a cheater? Submitting video evidence seems to be a ridiculous requirement. I could understand this being required before we had dedicated servers, but now that we do, how is it possible that the servers themselves cannot keep track of in game actions such as movement speed (the most common hack as far as I can tell), generator completion speeds, players teleporting, spawining of hatch, or beginning of EGC at incorrect times? Shouldn't the dedicated servers be able to record anomalous events like these and if a player flags that game as one with fishy activity, BHVR can use their own logs as proof?
This is what the anti cheat system does but not one system is infallible. The issue with any hacks is they need to be found before they can be caught and this unfortunately is a never ending cycle as if someone can make it some will be able to break it.
The main reason for video evidence is so they have the proof needed to ban a player as without that its your word versus the other player. Its something else we as a community can do over and above the cheat system to help get rid of these players who ruin it for us all.

@YaiPa said:
little issue: the entire point of the rift is making it as grinding as possible, so that people spend real money.
This ^
The purpose of the rift is two fold.
To make you play the game and to bring in more revenue for the devs.
The rift itself is not designed so all the players can complete it or its then a one off purchase. The design of all battlepasses are for the vast majority to not quite complete it so they have to spend at least some money for each one.
-
They generally don't respond and let you know if someone has been banned or not. The thing you need to do is keep a copy of said profile and check yourself.
Always remember when reporting to send in video evidence also as without proof nothing can be done.
They do actively do something when they have the evidence. I've seen this happen on streams where a dev or mod is in the room and a cheater is in their game or they break the rules in the after game chat.
Reports are dealt with manually so the time frame is dependant on how many they have. Just think if in one day 10k reports are sent in and 500 have 15 min videos.
That is a lot to go through and why the devs ask not to report for silly things like camping etc as it slows the real reports down.

Killer hosts the game and is 4 v 1. Survivors can do gens the [Bad Word] off with zero interaction.
No way are they nerfing killer blood gains. Nuh uh.
Edit: And it's cute you're correlating your own personal demands with net profits when people will buy cosmetics regardless because they want to look like bunnies or whatever no matter the state of the game.
Just FYI killers do not host the game anymore. That was only when the game was P2P using their connection.
The servers are now the host of the games.
-
The thing about solo queue is not the unknowing but the reluctance of some to cleanse a totem.
Ask yourself how many totems you see when playing solo. Looking for gens or being in a chase I can safely say I will see at least 3 without actively looking. If everyone who saw them did one instead of sitting on that gen close by then NOED would be a perk no one uses.
This then is on the mindset of the other players you are matched with and as such should never be blamed on the killer, devs or the perk itself imo.
I wonder how some would feel if the original NOED was still in game. That activated on last gen being done for the rest of the match with no way to disable it.
-
Reply with a GG and a :) or <3 and leave.
Nothing annoys these players more than when you don't take the bait. They are simply trying to anger you and get a response and if you retaliate it's like a psychological win for some.
-
Like any new killer when you start out playing them you will only see the weaknesses. After 5 games you won't have his power down enough to utilise it properly.
Most thought Nurse was a bad killer when first started playing her.
It's the same when he first came out when survivors played some games and said he was overpowered.
My advice is to play a lot more games with him and while he is not top tier he isn't bad by any means and is really good baiting loops for hits.
-
Most of the meta perks have changed over the years for survivor especially.
Ds changed 4 times, exhaustion introduced, SB used to recover in 20s while running, BT used to protect both players, Self Care heal time increased etc. This shows the meta wont change by simply buffing other perks as its more about why these are run over others due to what they do.
A lot of other perks even if buffed won't change the outcome of what these meta perks give a player.
Killers for the most part chose slowdown or perks to find survivors along with some to try and help in a chase or endgame with NOED.
Survivors use perks to try and prolong a chase, protect themselves from being hooked, slugged and get safer saves or extra health states.
Most meta perks are used due to how each side play to combat the most used strats.
Personally I feel some do need changed. BT for one should take 15s after a hook to activate.
-
Why does everything need a motive like "to get more sales"
I think it is the right time since they are currently in the process of expanding lore.
At the end of the day nothing matters we are all simply human regardless of anything else. Including something for the LGBT community is progression and it shows a little love for those who have been ostracized for simply being who they are which some didnt or want too understand.
I for one applaud decisions like these.

Players will always blame a mechanic rather than working around it. Noed can't activate if the totems are destroyed. While swf have the upper hand there are perks to help solo players find them also.
The survivor perks you mentioned also have a work around for killers and only become some what unfair at certain times in a match ie end game. BT and DS won't work if you go after the unhooker for the most part and DH well thats so easy to bait out its laughable most of the time.

They can with permission.
Anyways that doesn't matter, I was saying that to the person who was going crazy
Yes they can ask but you have the right to opt out in certain countries and they then cannot remove your right to play the game by denying them that permission.
This then makes it a non viable solution.

Billy was always fun to verse and people loved playing him.
The changes to his basekit imo are way overdone and remove a lot of the fun of playing him. Feathering around pallets and t walls overheat you in seconds. If you do a long chainsaw around the map then your power cannot be used if you do find someone and you turn into an m1 Billy for a time. His base kit was not bad and while a little tweak may have been warranted imo this is way too much. Animations need a lot of work too most a chainsaw looks like an m1 half the time. I don't think this ptb is ready for release with these Billy changes and his part should be postponed and really looked at again.
Then we have that awful roar he makes, that honestly makes me cringe everytime he does it. I don't understand putting such an annoying noise into the game. I hope they remove that aspect and i dont mean change the sound or voice just remove the roar completely as it is not needed and gets old very very quickly hearing it over and over while playing him.

Have you played the ptb which was out yesterday? (not today).
Bubba has actually gotten a buff. I'd play him or watch some videos if you are not on pc and you will soon understand the changes much more than just reading about them.
-
Dave Richard's stated they chose characters and aspects over the game series not just one of the games to try and have something from them all.
-
All this does is prevent people from playing with friends which may be why they bought the game.
This then could just drive players away instead of making them play solo as they could just play another game with friends.
Its not a great idea as it can affects all players queue times.

No. The graphics update hopefully will come later this year. There is no confirmed date as yet and there won't be till its ready.
-
Every change ever mentioned which is seen to make something in the game weaker has been met with the same reaction.
It doesnt matter if there is a valid reason (MoM), the plans for the future or recent changes if its a change to what they like using.
-
Some are really good and other not so good much like many developers of the games they make.

I dont think I have ever worn a full set of clothing. I always pick what I like the best by mixing and matching.
I wonder what will happen with the separate rift sets if clipping really is the reason.

It is only available to the characters created by BHVR.

That means hook times and bleed out timer would need to be increased.
It also means a lot of just hiding as no one would want to be caught and would just sit out the timer making for very boring play.
DBD thrives of the engagement between the killer and survivors to make a system which lowers that wouldn't be fun.
-
I think 30s could work with your suggestions including the locker scenario but the timer would need to not go down when slugged and also it should block aura reading imo within a set distance for all survivors within say 5m so being healed is viable as it blocks both.
BT also needs a timer before it works when u hooking say 15s and then it can also work on killers who are oblivious.
DS changes within the egc and slugging the timer does go down.
The issue with the perk is the amount of stipulations we can see are needed for it to still be beneficial and have a purpose but not to be useless.
