My name came in part from my nick name being Monkey as a boy as I would always be climbing trees .
The Twisted part was added from my days of training in Kung Fu. One of the forms we had to learn was called the "Twistedmonkey Form" and I just liked the name as it fit in well with my current nick name.
Its been my username since I was 17 which was quite a few years ago 😉.

A ping lock won't stop VPN users as it fools the server into thinking they are from another country and the VPN server itself may have a ping of 50ms.
This is why they are trying to change it so those with high pings don't gain an advantage like they do now.

And putting everyone else also at an disadvantage in the process.
They will actually be fixing it for everyone else with decent pings rather than give and advantage to any side.
If the hit happens right now it should be the same. The only difference is that a survivor should be closer to the killer on their screen so that the hit looks legit.
-
There is a region lock but they circumvent that by using a VPN for the region they wish to play in.
They are working on the servers so that those doing this won't gain an advantage anymore and if anything be disadvantaged.
-
Peanits said they have been testing it in a few areas behind the scene, what areas these are have not been mentioned for obvious reasons.
When its ready to go fully live they will let us know. They tend not to say exact dates for things like this as unforseen problems can arise and this community has been extremely critical in the past when dates were mentioned and a delay happened.
-
Yes some will still DC but that has dropped dramatically according to the dev streams.
They stated the figure is around 50% less DC's than before its implementation so it is doing what its intended too.
-
Its actually probably more due to perception rather than reality as when they posted the stats an swf escape rate was not that much higher than solo.
So what they don't want to condone are players being dodged due to this perception that some players have.
Now having an swf indicator at the end would be fine imo and it may just change the mindset of some players.

If you play with friends the friend with the best rating should be the 'Score' that app lies. If you want to play with your friends of different skill level...that would have never hit up the same lobby of not for SWF. The penalty should be best survivor rating is all that counts.
Thats what I was saying. We don't have the info to truly know how it will work but I believe it should also be off the highest rated player to make it fairer for the killer.
This means in the OP's scenario they will still get those players who shouldn't be in the high ranked brackets due to swf.

If you close the program it won't switch profiles in the background, in my experience. If it's left open I've noticed it will switch my profiles in the middle of the game.
@OP I'll try later tonight and see if I can get mine to work. I'm guessing you're using a g600?
Yeah as I said its finicky and it takes some tinkering to work.
Its just from experience playing division 2 or Wow.
I just double click the taskbar icon at the bottom left so i can see it on screen and then start a game. 90% of the time that works but sometimes I have to do the alt tab scenario just so it kicks in properly.
One way to test if it's working at all is to set your default profile to the same as your DBD one and set auto profile switching to off.
-
I wpuld reinstall the game and eac as there could be a corrupt file somewhere for it to happen this often.
Also check your internet logs. Log into your modem and router and see if they are having issues with DBD by looking at any error messages.
I have had a similar issue before in the past where one specific game used to disconnect due to the packets being sent. Turned out it was overloading the connection with the amount of packets due to a faulty modem.
-
That depends.
With SWF a true red ranked playing with friends may still be in your lobby If they use the highest rated mmr player.
It may of course take an average of the group but that could have other consequences like in the past of a lower ranked mmr killer being matched with someone way above their level.
-
G hub is finicky at the best of times as it seems to have issues changing profiles.
I use it for set actions in others games and I have to have it open in the background instead of just being on the taskbar at times for it to change from the default profile and sometimes I have to also alt tab out down it to register the change.
-
I used too when it first came out but the cost now imo is too high if you own the dlc as its quicker and cheaper to lvl a char up to lvl 40.
I just use the shards for cosmetics now as even the blood points you can get quicker by playing.
-
I never equip it as once they realise they are less likely to try and use the flashlight.
I like to mind game and lure them in so they are off gens and I can get a hit on them.
-
This would need your friend to be hooked after the other person to deny it as it only negates the struggle phase and kills them instantly if everyone else is on the hook.
While they may have been able to escape the hook 100% with the perk the chances of escaping are less likely as this situation pre the change would have the killer just standing there waiting for it.
it would take a certain perk setup and be close enough to an open door for it to be worthwhile as any competent killer should easily down them and put them right back on that hook.
It's basically a qol change so everyone can just move onto another game.
-
The devs have always said changing icons is a use at your own risk.
Yes many have done so for a long time and nothing has happened but that doesn't mean one day that won't change.
-
The only issue I see with NOED is that it can reward camping. The direct counter to camping is doing gens and getting out. To do gens and totems generally won't work out. Since gen speed is linked with hook time to punish campers every second counts. Now if a killer is camping it reduced the time to cleanse a totem it may reduce NOED's effectiveness with true campers.
Now if a killer is not camping and the game is going along and NOED procs then that is on the survivors imo.
As for camping in general well it is punishable and Orion is correct in that regard. If survivors feed it and the killer gets them all then that is on them. The game itself is designed as I mentioned to punish this strat and the killer should only ever get at the most 2 kills and very little points. This makes it non worthwhile. If you reward a strat then you can't blame a player for using it. Think outside the box. It's not about good sportsmanship but using what you have to show the other side its not worthwhile.
What does need changed imo is the emblems and point system so punishing camping is more rewarded.
-
Its not mlga or mleb as they didn't work when dedicated servers were implemented.
It seems to be a program built on the same code but that one doesn't specifically tell you what killer it is but it gives you the killer ip information from the server.
So it doesn't say what killer they are actually playing but it does gives info on how many times you have played them and allows you to write note. If they main one they can use notes to say this which may be what is happening.
Since this doesn't interfere with any dbd files and simply gets information you can also get on any pc with some knowledge much like in the past with mlga EAC can not see it. Its also a legality issue since for EAC to see it they would need to scan for files outwith the game itself which in some countries breaches privacy laws.
-
The main reason killers on VPN get an advantage is how the system works right now. Killers have more priority on the hit so the longer the latency delay the more hits look to appear from far away due to the difference of what a killer and aurvivor seems.
This is more likely a bug which probably happens due to random desync issues with the servers themselves.

Again I already tried to search. Found nothing, that's why I mention I can imagine.
Also Mathieu said flashlights were fine until he got destroyed by a korean group of swf. During that time, would you have also said so, giving the right part to the ones over you.
I found them easy enough and its why I mentioned it. No one can help you search or say what to search here. If you can't find the right words to search ask somewhere else like reddid, ask in some streamers chats, try youtube etc.
Flashlights were entirely different. They are a mechanic within the game which were seen to be too strong. It was just a nerf to them much like many other things which have been changed.
The change to the locking the ini files was to stop the exploitation of the system as they were being manipulated in many ways to gain unfair advantages. Once you find it you will see exactly why.

ok please quote me so I can answer faster because I can't know when someone posts here. I didnt say that's the reason, just that some people blamed on AA. That's all.
Next point: I believe you, I might have seen that comment before, however, that's not what I wanted to see as I said in my comment, people just mentions malicious tweaks, but I want to see those things myself, otherwise I can't trust it
The only way to find this out is to do a Google search as these are considered cheats so no one can post links to them as its against the rules. These tweaks have been common knowledge for a long time but can only be done on PC of course.
I dont see why you wouldnt trust what Peanits or Mandytalk say. They are the voices of those within BHVR actually working on the game here. They just can't say exactly how something is done for obvious reasons.
-
No because they are just words spoken by players who may think they actually are cheating.
If the person is not cheating then they have nothing to worry about as they won't be banned as 100% proof has to be given and will be reviewed.
If they are just angry about losing then this would fall under trash talk imo. Some random person saying this doesn't mean much if the others like yourself know they were not.
-
Much like the current one between steam and windows store on pc from what we know now there will be a tick box to disable crossplay.
-
I think the main problem here is not understanding what the rift actually is.
The rift itself has two purposes. The first purpose is to make money and the second is to get people to play more.
The rift, challenges and lore aspects of course is an optional extra and you can chose to play the game without participating in any of it.
-
They know about it and why they are working on a new system.
Personally I'd rather wait for the release to be in a working state than it be thrown out there because of the complaints. A non working new system could be just as bad if not worse than we have now.
-
A BP system could possibly work.
Say instead of having to use BBQ or wglf to grind. You now have p3 a char which gains the same bonus.
-
Its a map add-on you can use.
-
The new player experience has always had these problems as seeing a similar rank has never indicated a fair match up.
If we remember the old rank reset along with how easy it was for players to derank we can see changes have been made over the years to try and eleviate these issues it just that the more this happened the less spread the playerbase has become.
Hopefully something is discussed in the anniversary stream about the upcoming matchmaking changes.
-
Dead hard wasn't designed specifically for Nurse. It can negate a hit from all killers not just her.
Deah Hard is just another exhaustion perk which worked versus the Nurse if they hit instantly but was negated itself if they didn't.
Dead hard should only ever be able to be used once to miss a hit and then its for distance as its so easily baited once you know they have it. Its also only usable once in a chase so the one miss from a Nurse shouldn't stop someone going down versus a decent player.
-
I don't mind them. If they got changed or stay as they are it wouldn't bother me.
They do change up the game versus a huntress which makes me play a lot more careful, I kinda like that at times. It does feel rewarding to dodge three hatchets knowing each one could have downed me.
If hatchets weren't how they are right now in terms of how many feel like they shouldn't have hit. Would this change anyone's perspective on them?
-
Both sides use what they want which is allowed or given by the game.
Its like asking killers not to use NOED, slug, tunnel or camp Etc.
The issue stems more from each side reacting to things from previous matches. Some feel they need DS or BT much like some killer feel they need to play a set way. Its not about what match you are in but the potential of how it can go.

well yes i get around 10K-20K points each match without using WGLF, WGLF is a useless perk and gives you no benefits like BBQ does.
when a survivor needs to play around 50x matches to get the same amount what a killer can get in 10-15 matches then here is something wrong.
i play in the evening and my survivor lobbys take 5-10 minutes + average 10min gameplay makes me wait atleast 15min
means every 15min i get around 20K BP
as killer lobbys are instant and you get around 50K-90K BP
ok lets see how long it takes as survivor to get 1mil BP.. its around 9-10 hours
as killer 10min each match atleast 50KBP = 3hours to get 1mil and im talking about the least number because most of my matches i get 90K BP with BBQ and pudding.
and even if you use WGLF what gives you pretty much no benefits.. tell me what are the chances to get 4 saves in one match? everyone is rushing the hooks anyways so?
now again where is the fairness when we compare these numbers
9-10 hours grinding vs 3 hours grinding
Queue times are being worked on. Some region are worse than others.
WGLF is not useless I get 4 stacks almost every game and I don't hook rush. You also don't need to unhook and take a hit instead to gain stacks. That seems more of a player issue. They are also working on something more for WGLF right now.
As I said take it over actual game time and not wait time as that will be fixed soon enough.
-
Your matches had an average of 10k if you made 500k in 50 games. This means you aren't really doing enough.
You also bring up using BBQ but didn't mention wglf, while not quite as good it does increase your BP along with aurcivor BP offerings.
I average around 40-50k per survivor match using wglf. Add in a BP offering and I wouldn't be far off your killer points. It comes down to the individual.
You also have to think as a solo survivor you do have the option to move on to another match while the killer has to stay till the end each time. So taking the average playtime in game instead of matches played gives a better representation of the difference.
-
This has been known for a while. Players with higher ping can gain an advantage and some even use vpn's from other countries to gain this advantage.
They are working on a fix to this as stated in the recent dev stream.
-
There are many good solo perks it just takes some playing around with them to find what fits your play style.
I like to use bond or kindred, iron will, inner strength and detectives haunch. I mix it up with others such as WGLF, unbreakable, quick and quiet depending on how my games are going.
l use lithe as my go to exhaustion buts its rare I ever use one.
-
Why would you download while playing an online game? It will affect your connection making you lag and the game can be less fair for those you are versing.
While it's not bannable if it's constant (be careful of spikes as it can look like connection manipulation) they are working on the system so doing this will leave you at a disadvantage and not the others.
-
Queue times were OK until the release of dedicated servers and the new matchmaking system. We had the change not long after which made swf be matched off the highest ranking which made more players queue up with red ranks overall.
It only took 30 red ranks to play with those of lower ranked to mean 30 more killers were needed so this did compound the original issue.
The reset change was done after these changes so the problem was already there before.
-
Anything is possible but until I hear it from the horses mouth I am always skeptical about any leaks.
-
I would not worry about the keyboard unless you are playing far from the laptop hooked up to a TV. If you are then I'd say yes along with a decent mouse.
I find keyboard and mouse makes movements more fluid and feel instant especially looking around with the mouse.
-
The largest issue with it as a base mechanic is what someone already said. It promotes gen rushing.
There is no urgency to get off a gen since you can't see the pigs boxes to remove it Before one is finished. It actually promotes staying on a gen so you know where to go rather than blindly search.
So it would probably only be effective versus newer players and not versus vets negating what traps are designed to do. Slow the gens down.
-
They don't have a definite answer right now so its the same as always, it is something they have looked into and would like to do at some point but it's not a guarantee it will ever happen.
So if does come about they will announce it when and if it will be coming.
-

Then prove it. Wait, you can't because it's not possible.
If you look at the video @Lycidas posted from Paulie Esther you will see he showed this as he edited the page himself and put his name with as a character called tin foil.
-
The devs know about it and its why a new system is being worked on, they won't reply to every single post about matchmaking as they have already acknowledged the issue multiple times.
Spamming the same thing in multiple threads won't hurry it up or change the situation as it atm.
-
I don't think it will be Jason. If anything the mask or face in the year 4 info most resembles one of the new candyman posters for myself. Since they would not be exact so its obvious we know the black, gold could represent the black honeycomb on the poster in the pic below and the gold the honey from the bees.
-
it wasn’t just to stop the red stain but many other settings which were being changed basically removing walls completely etc.
A graphics option would be nice and I am hopeful for one but that will take time due to the red stain issue as that needs worked on.
I don’t blame the devs for fixing something needed for now as it was the players after all who abused what options they were given which caused this change.
-
I don't bother with them. They are cool enough and a nice little addition but they don't stick out ebough for me.
As the cosmetic I like to wear has a jacket so it almost covers half of all the charms.
As killer I so put them on the hooks but tbh I never even notice them anymore.

But it does indicate new or Vet in a sense as well. If I purchased DbD a year ago, but it sat and sat, and finally I fired it up this weekend and played 10 hours of it and then posted a review, I am still a new player.
Likewise, if I purchased it a year ago, played 10 hours then and left it to never launch it again, and just now left a review based on those 10 hours from a year ago, I reviewed it as a new player.
Purchase time doesn't make one a new or old player, a noob or a vet, play time does.
That was the actual point of what I was stating though. It was about how many new players are coming in and actually buying the game not old purchases.
If they bought it two years ago and didn't play much well yes they are considered non vets in terms of knowing the game and how to play it but they are not a new purchaser.

Actually, you can tell. Go to Community Hub, Reviews, Recent reviews, and it lists the hours played by each reviewer at the top of their review post.
It's very easy to tell if a review is made by a new player or a Vet in Steam. Granted, no one in their right mind is going to check all 9k, but you can easily glance at 30-40 reviews in a few minutes.
Hours played dont indicate when they purchase the game.
I have seen a players in two months rack up over 300h and some with 50-100h have the game for 1-2 years. The only true way is to truly check is by the achievement dates as all the hours say is how much time someone has had or put into playing the game.

The fact of the matter is the player count isn't increasing really at all, it's slowly dropping as some people don't come back at all.
No one knows that its old players returning and not new ones. Technically new players have to come in or the playerbase would always be dropping since not everyone will play a game for hundred or thousands of hours. Games generally only have a certain percentage of overall players who stay for the long haul.
Now if we look at this screenshot of steam it shows over 9k recent reviews. While it doesn't state old or new players it can be taken that a portion would be new. Let's say it's 50% to be objective that's still a decent amount of new players over the time period for an almost 4 year old game and since only a small percentage of players ever leave reviews at all the number should then be even higher overall.
-
Personally I don't think seeing survivors names in a lobby is needed anymore as all it does is allow toxicity to spread. As the OP said a simple nea 1, meg 1, 2 etc allows the same info in game.
I don't think items should ever be hidden as it is set up in such a way that the killer can react by using certain builds which is by design since it is a 4v1 game. What they could do instead is make a better system so dodging lobbies has a longer cooldown for anything other than a certain ping.
