Should tea bagging at the exit gate be considered an unsportsman like conduct with reason to ban players for that and holding up the game?

How is this holding up the game? You know where the exits are right? You can't run to them and chase them out? And then there is the EGC too. Nice bait. +1 I suppose we can follow this with banning killers who slug players and leave them to bled out for 3 minutes? You see how ridiculous you sound right?

Tunneling and camping are rampant on PS4, which is where OP plays too, I think.

Even before the Ruin nerf, I dreaded getting too high in rank because there's so much camping & tunneling with red ranked killers there.

From my experience on Xbox...not much camping or tunneling at the Purple Ranks (hasn't been at Red for awhile)..maybe 2 games out of 50.

  • Tiffany Cox-type bikini for Feng or the full-bunny outfit that Deborah Kim had in F13.

  • "DS is still way too strong and it's rework has it still sitting as the best perk in the game."

Don't tunnel and you don't need to worry about DS.

  • @ApeOfMazor said:

Camping and tunneling is fine. Blame the devs for not nerfing survivor perks or fixing gen time.

No blame low skill killers who can only win by employing scummy tactics.

No skill killers will still camp and tunnel all day long even if the equally low skilled survivors are blowing gen after gen and running around like scared rabbits. If you have any skill at all you can still get a 3 or 4k without camping or tunneling.

  • @Blueberry said:

I don't see any of these things to any significant degree in my games.

    Have you tried playing killer?

I don't see much tunneling or camping or slugging either but in the trash ranks all they do is camp and tunnel the entire game.

  • The problem is they should rework the emblem when there is a scummy killer camping. The scummy killer is camping (for fun let's say there is only one gen left and you know it is being worked on so we can avoid "just do gens)." The timer is almost over...so it is either leave him to die or try a last ditch effort to save him. You unhook him, scummy killer downs him and you then get penalized for that? So I guess in this case the devs just want the other guy to die?

As if surv care about killers' feeling when they loop us around mindless objects for a min till they get caught? After all, they are just doign their "job".

But when killers do their job, which is killing you by any means necessary as there are 4 of you to go against, then we are toxic.

If we play by your rules we lose. Every time.

Have played scores of games this past month and just a few scum who camped and tunneled (and there is a special place in Hell for the Huntress that brought in an Ebony Mori and an instadown hatchet and tunneled everyone after every unhook) and yet they were still able to get 3 and 4Ks.

  • I am more concerned with the competency of those who would make this happen, but there is the fact that various aspects are easier on PC from what I've been lead to believe.

  • @Carlosylu said:

Rule number 1: Play as you wish if it makes you have fun

Rule number 2: It doesn't matter if you're a "good guy" or a "merciless killer", if you camp or tunnel, if you insta mori, blah blah blah, ALWAYS follow rule number 1

Rule number 3: Pizza, Nachos, Tacos, Popcorn AND Chicken wings can make you a better killer cause you'll enjoy the experience even more

I sometimes feel like giving away hatch, I sometimes feel like not tunneling nor camping, I tend to mori only instead of 3rd hook AND after all survivors have been hooked at least once. But yes, that's my gamestyle, not everyone has to play the way YOU want them to play. Remember kids, it's just a game. :)

True you can play how they want, but then don't cry when you get mercilessly attacked afterwards. You can play like scum and then I can return the favor and treat you like scum.

Crossplay is available on all platforms and it was for a some time, ever since the steam x microsoft crosplay. So basically the system is there on every platform, just not used, and probably will never be.

The person you saw was just some hacker/ funny guy who used the fact that the servers are not protected at all and connected to a console server from a PC

I am telling you knowing how great things are with this game now that having PC players able to play against those on console would be a total disaster. If PS4 want to play with pc players fine as long as people can opt to not have to face those on other platforms.

I have been messing around with inner strength and I like it. I tend to at least look for totems in between moving to gens for fear of noed. Depends on the flow of the match. If were doing well I'll totem hunt, if were doing bad I ignore totems for gens.

If you add detective you'll see the totems (and gens and chests) close by. Should get one done early on. I like it better than SC. You could also use small game instead of detective as well.

yeah you don't see ps4 players complaining when they vs pc players on fortnite if one of the players is a pc player.

Yeah and you know why that is? Fortnite isn't DBD.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Most of my advice has already been said but one thing I can suggest. Run pharmacy and farm a couple green medkits. Try to build a stock pile. Take off pharmacy and bring a medkit instead of a key. Even the best players get ht from time to time and sometimes there isn't a fellow survivor around to heal you. Stealth is difficult already but it's even harder when your bleeding. SC takes too long and I don't feel like devoting a slot to it.

    All else has been said.

Fixated or UE. Spine chill for early warning(works wonders on gf) dance with me+lithe to try to break los after a fast vault, q&q+head on for locker plays. SB is a great "oh #########" button encase your stealth fails. Mainly against billy, LF, and, to a lesser degree, Oni. Those are the only killers I won't try to stealth against unless I brought SB. If I'm crouching behind something and they find me I probably won't make it to the pallet before they chainsaw me.

If you use IS+detective, almost 100% you'll get a totem to kill and you heal in 6 seconds--it will cost you two perks and you only have a maximum of 5 totems but I have found it works well as a solo when you can't count on anyone healing you. I don't run any of the alert perks--like Spine or Alert or Premonition--just try to stay aware if someone is about to run up on me. Even better if you are swf on comms on that point.

  • Yeah and you'd have people on PCs crushing people on console...oh the joy. I'd much rather wait for 10 minutes and not have to face some sweaty guy on a PC. Puppers said it best I think on this...not only no, but HELL NO.

And seeing how buggy the game is now on both sides and knowing the current skill set of the developers how well do you think a cross-over game between platforms would work? In case you weren't aware, the dedicated servers on Xbox for example had to be taken down. The current problems with the game would seem like a well oiled machine compared to the FUBAR a crossover would be.

  • First obviously wear something dark. I play stealth. I like Fixated (and previously UE), SC+med kit (but now use inner strength+detective's), I liked Quick and Quiet, Lithe or BT and Left Behind. Currently running Fixated, IS+detective and BL (but not as useful on some maps). Wear Feng's GG Noob outfit, but obviously a Claudette P3 is even better.

  • I never want to see cross-over from PC to console. Pretty sure most feel the same way...it would be awful.

Yeah...I am not all that interested in the killer having any enjoyment...if the killer has fun, well good for him, but I'm not playing for him to have fun...in general if all goes well he won't have any fun facing me at least I hope that is how it works out. Think I had fun when some trash Huntress instadowns me with a hatchett and then Moris me?

Protects you from being downed with a hit, but you can still get grabbed just like a healthy survivor could. That's different from being downed.

So probably was wise to leave at that point. Thanks.

  • @Oberon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128424#Comment_1128424

Regardless of your opinions on those add-ons, the sheer amount of survivor second chance perks clearly skews the game in the survivors' favor. They have nine to choose from at any give time, and every survivor can run four of them. A killer who doesn't care about slowing down gens or downing survivor can run four. That's sixteen second chances against four situational second chances (especially hex perks and blood warden).

I don't typically run any second chance perks--no DS (I did run it all the time before it got broken often with comic results...like being downed right inside the gate and BOOM DS and away I went...hilarious), no BT, no adrenaline. I run fixated (formerly ran UE), Inner strength+detective's hunch (over self-care), and BT. Plenty of overpowered perks that give killers an advantage too--BBQ, NOED, Devour Hope. In my games (Purple Rank) I rarely see a match where we all leave. The game is only slanted toward survivors if you think killers should get a 4k every time and if you a killer main you probably do believe that. "Oh no someone escaped...the game is so unbalanced."

Syringe, maybe, but styptic is even better than before know

I'd rather have an instaheal to full health than 8 seconds of protection from being downed. I do have a question though about that. Awhile back I had this add on and I had BT. I had the gate opened and this hag was hard camping the hooked survivor literally right at the gate. I tried for the unhook but got hit. If I applied the styptic and tried for the unhook could I still be grabbed or would the 8 second protect me, because if it would protect me I could have unhooked (with BT) and we could have both easily ran out.

  • I don't suicide on the first hook but if there are two of us left and I get hooked I'll suicide to give the hatch. You can slug me I guess but I'm still giving the other guy the hatch.

  • "Killers may have access to moris, but survivors can get keys, styptic, and the syringe." Keys are good, but styptic and the syringe are basically trash since the rework.

    My understanding as well.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

I mean, because you have bad games that doesn't mean you should blame the devs for it -_-

Also I think that slugging ti everyone bleeds out is called "keeping the game hostage" and it's bannable

Since people who are slugged will eventually die and once they all die the game will end the game wasn't held hostage and it is not bannable. That said it is a scummy play and you can expect dc's and much worse after the game is over if you do that and it is rather stupid as you don't get credit for a sacrifice if they bleedout and lose points and probably a PIP...so scummy and stupid, yes...bannable...no.

  • Since the game can end (either the guy bleeds out or he recovers somehow and escapes) it is not taking the game hostage. If you are hanging around the exit gate, still not taking the game hostage as the EGC will eventually force them out or they will die. If you wait until the very last second to pick them up and then hook them, again not holding the game hostage as once you hook the last survivor they die and the game ends. None of what you described would ever been acted on.

xbox does. I quit a match with an escape challenge as my teammates were just trolling hooked players and not doing gens. Got a 3 minute one

Unless they have put the dedicated servers back up, DBD currently doesn't have the ability to ban you for dcs on XBox. Once the servers are put back up then the bans will be back. Now if you had quit a few weeks ago, then yes the ban would have been in place.

  • First time I was finally able to escape or the time I and the other two survivors were all tbagging at the gate and the killer rushed the gate with the chainsaw and instadowned me and I was too far from the exit to crawl out and he picked me up and hooked me and since everyone had run out when I got hit there was no one to save me. I don't care who you are, that was funny right there.

  • @Rey_512 said:

It’s 5 minutes for your first DC?

5 minutes...then 5 minutes for the second...then it goes up from there...by #7 I think it is an hour and this isn't like seven in a row, but cumulative over time. It decays over time, but they won't tell you how long the reset time is because "then it can be abused." Heard various answers...24 hours of game play and it resets, 24 hours of just real world time, a month. If the reset is a month someone could easily get 7 timeouts in 30 days. One day I had super lag for two games which made me dc...this included me spawning being carried by the killer to a hook and lag so bad when downed by the Wraith the wiggle bar wouldn't even move and then last night when the game crashed as I was 360ing at the exit. That would be 3 right there.

  • @OtakuBurrito said:

The ban allows you get your net together and ensure you don't ruin the game for others. Additionally the system knows when it's on our side.

-Literally BHVR and this is not a joke.

And when it is not your net but the buggy put together with duct tape game instead? What then? And I am pretty sure they don't actually know when it is on their side.

  • Xbox doesn't have the bans, but last night was playing a trapper. A Dwight opened the gate and he got chased out. I was standing on top of a rock and he saw me and came up after me and I having BT jumped and ran toward the gate and once inside started to 360 him and then boom loading screen. I didn't earn a PIP, I didn't get any BP, I lost my item it was as if the match never happened. The end game screen showed the killer dc'ed, the Dwight having escaped and me and the other two still in game. I don't know if the game dc'ed or just crash. I guess I'd have got a dc ban for this match if Xbox had them. Pretty unfair to give bans for leaving a game that has more bugs in it than the Okefenokee in July.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

That's all this game has turned into now. Survivors will act toxic as hell to killers just for the lols, while killers have to just take it and know they can't do anything about it. This game used to be fun, but more and more groups are just making the game so unplayable for others. And for what? Because it's so funny to see someone rage? But, if it was them on the receiving end, they'd despise it. Really hope this game changes for the better soon!

And what to you exactly are survivors acting "toxic" to killers?

  • Probably...didn't do a thing against that swf team I faced it seems. Like I said before my killers and my survivors are so far apart rank wise they might as well be in different universes. Never seen a killer I played against turn up as a survivor in my lobby and thankfully the numbers of low skilled camping trash killers have been pretty few and far between for me lately. Seen a few things which I'd consider scummy play, but overall they have been semi-decent in how they have played.

  • Killers in general basically.

legit payback? youre kidding. A killer can do nothing that would give a reason to do this except bodyblocking you in a corner so you have to dc.

If some killer downs you and stands a foot away from you until you die at pretty much the start of the game and he ends up as a survivor in your survivor lobby? Yeah...I'd have no problem seeing that survivor sandbagging him on the hook as payback.

I don't know why im wasting my time replying. OP literally said in his post that he's doing this with the intention to hold the game hostage for an hour: " Fine, I'll make you stay for another hour, laughing at you every time you pass." Not sure what you're trying to defend here ;)

If the game can end you can't hold the game hostage and with EGC collapse you can't stop the game from ending. I suppose if you are a brain dead killer who is too stupid to find the hatch someone could keep you for an hour, but sooner or later the killer will find the hatch and I have yet to find a killer so incompetent that he can't find the hatch in under 5 minutes. Two people could take the game hostage you say...again unless the killer is incredibly stupid he will find one of the two, down them, kill them and then can find the hatch and start the EGC and most people won't want to hide in the bushes for an hour just to annoy the killer--I might be the exception to that rule. Some might call hiding from the killer at the end of the game "hostage taking" but it isn't and there is no way you are going to get banned for just using a valid strategy...hiding from the killer. If there is just me and the killer I am going to be looking for the hatch, not hiding in some locker and if he closes the hatch and I don't have a key I am going to try to open the gate (works about 50% of the time), but if it is just me and one other and there are 3 gens or more left then I am going to be hiding someplace and if the other person wants to hide too...great...and if the killer is too stupid to find us? Whose fault is that?

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

It's the opposite end of killer not getting points for killing everyone within the first 3 minutes. There needs to be some form of engagement outside simply doing the objective then leaving.

Besides, it's that guy getting hit who kept you from being found.

And by the same token the stealthily gen jockey (which is what I prefer to be) did three gens, two totems and unhooked two people allowing the person being chased to eventually escape. Only time I want to see the killer is when I am inside the exit gate doing 360s waiting for him to chase me out.

  • @TheLastGreatStar said:

It's happened to me before and I wasn't sure why, but it turned out that I had killed the survivor doing it in a previous match as Michael and apparently they wanted to punish me for doing my objective as a killer. Sounded legit. 😂

If the killer played scummy I can actually see this as legit payback, but in my case I hardly ever play killer and 90% of the time they all escape as I just play killer for some easy BP for a daily like chase survivors for 180 seconds or catch three people in a bear trap and my rank as killer is so low I never see the survivors I faced as a killer in my survivor lobby. They just wanted to be jerks and get the person not in their group killed which is stupid as it just makes it more likely the killer will win. If you played it straight as a killer I see no reason for them to bully you like that, but if you hard camped or tunneled the entire game...then in that case yeah you probably deserved it.

    This poor solo survivor :/

I thought toxicity twards killers is the worst thing, but never i felt so frustrated in this game before.

    Is this reportable?

I let them blood out at the end because i thought i had to punish behavior like this, but if you can do this every game?

    holy cow thats ######### up!

Had the same thing happen to me. I was playing with three swfs and I was the solo. I need to do the headon rift challenge, went into a locker and this Dwight came up to it and began opening and closing the door then started to body block me to keep me trapped. I was eventually hooked, the same Dwight comes up to me does the whole "I am going to unhook you but I'm not" routine then waits until the second stage of the sacrifice and then unhooks me. I got hooked again eventually and then died. I wish people like this didn't even exist. The killer and I reported them, not that it will do any good.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

Even tho i am heavily against being toxic as both killer and survivor, if i come across a toxic team as a survivor i will be toxic to them and the killer. By this i mean i will body block, not go for saves or heals, reveal positions and go to the others if im being chased, and not help with gens in any way.

Yes I get a TON of salt from the toxic survivors who tried bullying the killer (I use bond and kindred a lot so i kinda know when a group does this) but if your going to play like that than as someone who HATES groups like yours i will try to get you all killed.

What do you consider being toxic as a survivor? The object is to escape and get BP...so flashlight saves, hook sabos, dropping pallets on the killer over and over...is that toxic? I did have two instances where there were toxic survivors toward me. I have that headon rift achievement to do (and still not done it) went into the locker to try to stun the killer when this jerk Dwight shows up and starts opening the closing the locker I am in. Then another game it was even worse. I was the solo on a swf team. I go into the locker in the killer shack and again this Dwight (and why are Dwights typically the biggest jerks in the game?) starts opening the door on me over and over and then tried to body block me. I did finally get hooked (surprise there huh?) and he comes to the hook and just waits until I am at the second stage and then he unhooks me and eventually I get hooked again and die and at that point I attacked all three in chat and reported them all and got the killer to report them as well--not that it ever does any good...and then there was the farming game where I didn't farm and (yes another Dwight) got hooked and then he unhooked me 2 feet from the killer, I was downed of course, hooked again, got unhooked again 2 feet from the killer, hooked and dead. People like that deserve far worse than simply being banned from the game too such as being removed from the planet.

  • @Accullla said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1126215#Comment_1126215

Well, he did call it a "confession", but yeah - this is probably not the best place to brag about breaking the rules

If it was just him doing this it wouldn't be breaking the rules or is hiding now against the rules? Is there some rule I am unaware of that I must do gens or do anything? If I want to be a potato can't I go sit in a dark corner? Is there not a perk called whispers? If so can we then now ban every survivor who just goes and does nothing then...might as well throw in camping killers as well. Even if there were two doing it I'd still argue it isn't hostage taking...you can actually find survivors who hide you know? You can chase them...shocking I know...and amazingly even hit and down them and at that point hook them or slug them (yeah I'd agree they would deserve that too) and then go look for the other one or you can just camp the slugged guy or hook him and camp and once he is dead go find the hatch and start the EGC. EGC pretty much ended survivors being able to take the game hostage.

  • @Peanits said:

You know you just admitted to taking the game hostage, which is against the rules, right?

No...it's not taking the game hostage now is it? Not unless he has a partner doing the same thing...not since the EGC became a thing. If all the gens are done the killer can just open the gate starting the EGC and if there are still gens he can find and close the hatch which again starts the EGC. To take the game hostage now you need a partner in crime as it were and you both have to actively not do gens and start hiding and how often does that happen? If there is a bunch of gens left...4...5...just me and one other...yeah I'm out of the gen repair business at that point and off to find a series of good trees on the edge of the map to go skulk behind for the rest of the game. If the other guy gets hooked, I'll attempt to go save him if I can and then back to my trees--I'll either eventually be found and die or the other guy will and I can find the hatch as often I will run Left Behind.

The OP is 10000% incorrect that hiding in a locker over and over is hostage taking. I would say though it is a bad (even if valid) strategy unless the situation is completely hopeless--e.g. 4 gens left and down to two people.

  • Oni is pretty much trash which is why in say 50 games I might see him once. You can 360 him into the ground.

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Sounds like a typical survivor main. The idea they screwed up or got outplayed is not possible. So therefore they think the killer cheated.

Let's see I literally rezzed into the game being carried by the killer. Another game the wiggle bar wouldn't even move. I am not saying these two were purposely lagging, but they sure as hell were lagging me to death--and Xbox is p2p. On dedicated I have vaulted windows and literally been 10 feet from the window and still get hit, I've juked a killer and the killer was again feet away from me and still get hit. I've been hit by the Huntress while inside the locker. Again this is not the killer cheating but just problems with the game itself, but if you think there aren't real problems with how hits are recorded you are living in some place where unicorns paint pretty rainbows across the sky and Skittles fall as rain.

  • @Duckodb12 said:

The first disconnect should be a 24 hour ban, this little pissy 5 minutes or whatever it is is not gonna stop anybody.

And since the game has more bugs than the Okefenokee in July and people get randomly disconnected by the game or they get an infinite loading screen, or they end up inside a wall, or the lag is so bad they can hardly even move or they end up teleporting all over the map...they should get 24 hour bans then? And how long before they lose 70% of their player base when that happens?

  • If you are rank 15 and play a swf group on coms all ranked in the red ranks you are going to get pummeled. I don't play killer but for dailies and I am a rank 16 as a killer. Recently, I played a rank 2 and a rank 4 (obviously swfs) and two others closer to my ranks. I was able to hook a couple, they killed my NOED, everyone escaped. But it works both ways. Played as a smurf, met a rank 20 survivor with 5 hours. He got smoked. I gave him some advice (like get rid of we'll make it and replace it with technician as he kept blowing gens left and right), we played together a few games. He got tunneled by some rank 19, he managed to outlive two other survivors in the next game, but still ended up hooked and dead. If you are new you'll get smoked--killer or survivor and new survivors have it worse than new killers of equal ranks anyone who has like 20 hours in game isn't going to do well against someone with 1500 hours.

And I have a swf team I play with and we play on comms and we still at least 50% of the time all or nearly all die. It is easier to wipe out four solos than four swfs...typically sure but they aren't nearly as strong as you make them out to be since often they go on these suicidal quests to save their friends and end up dying...something many solos simply won't do.

  • I can't comment on PC--seems it is much more buggy, but who knows. At the purple ranks I didn't see all that many DC's at all--and remember Xbox again doesn't have dc penalties. Playing in a good 30 or 40 games, I saw one survivor dc (who wasn't me) and one killer dc. I dc'ed twice because of the ridiculous lag--once against a Wraith where the lag was so bad my wiggle bar wouldn't even move and once against a Hillbilly where I actually rezzed into the game being carried to a hook--OUTSTANDING. I am sure at the lower ranks people dc left and right, but in my games I just don't see it that often and certainly not very fair to punish people who get kicked by an overly buggy game. Things seems pretty good now, but this past summer I got kicked 20 times over one afternoon. It was so bad I even submitted a ticket...apparently had to do with the killer's trash connection unable to keep me connected.
