Yeah, I've had it happen where the game screen tells me that X disconnected and not me but I'll receive the DC penalty
I'm not sure why. It's rare but it does seem to happen every so often.
-
Some people don't see swears as aggressive. I have a buddy who calls us all ######### in the group chat :D
-
I play nothing but Solo. I go in expecting to lose but that's perfectly fine with me. It's always a fun surprise when I get a good team but I just kind of by default assume I'm going to be the leader of a group of potatoes :D
Although once in a while, I get to be the potato who looks like he's never played a game in his life so it all kind of evens out
-
That's really all it comes down to. Some people are just #########. When you get four survivors, statistically (at least) one of them is likely an ######### :D
-
I feel like it would get painfully boring as both survivor AND for you as a killer but you do you. If you find it fun somehow, slug away.

I'm guessing you'll have to submit a ticket on that. Not a whole lot I can do, even though I keep asking them to let me ban and unban people at my leisure for fun :D

We also used to have coloured text
Dang, well that kind of buzzkills my joke 😅
All well!

I didn't do anything :,(
Also, this might sound shocking but I've seen console players do what you're talking about AND I've seen PC players doing what you are talking about. There are bad players on both sides just as there are good players on both sides.

Kick the [strikethrough] baby [/strikethrough] totally an adult Ike!
:D
EDIT: (Awwww, does DBD Forum not let you do strikethrough codes? Or maybe it's just different coding on DBD Forum...)

It's a bug. They're not supposed to be able to adultnap Victor (NOT A BABY!!!).

I don't know why anyone is wasting time arguing about chase music when the perfect chase music already exists

Blood Warden FTW :D
The game wouldn't let me out of the gates! Clearly the killer is hacking it!!!!
-
The problem with Solo Que is I can be the very best (like no one ever was) at DBD but even if it's just a tiny bit, you almost have to rely on your team in some capacity. I can only do so much on my own and I swear the people I get put in with are people who have never played the game before :D
I've come to just accept that I'm going to have potato teammates and expect to be killed each game. If they surprise me, then awesome!

And I’m saying that sucks, but what changed do you propose to the key/hatch to make it balanced?
I don't have any ideas. I was just answering your question "How are keys unbalanced". What I said in my first post is why I think keys have the rep they have. If there is a key in the match, there are a few ways you can help mitigate their damage but there is nothing you can actually do to stop them if the survivors using them are even remotely smart about it.
To me, introducing the keys period was the mistake but what's done is done so all I can do is deal with it the best I can.
-
It's all I really do as a killer
Sure, there are times where I'll hook the last person only twice (so they're ending on the struggle phase rather than the Death phase) but that wasn't my end goal. When I play as killer, I do my best to not tunnel or camp or anything of that nature because I find both of those games super boring.
I'd rather get 0 kills and have a fun match than get 4 kills but be bored by it
The problem with adding a mechanic is I'm not sure how you'd actually do it and make it fair. There are already a lot of survivor groups who do their best to make you not 12 hook the team (the people with DS or BT dive bombing you as they get unhooked because they know they're safe and they're just looking to get in your way) but I'm not sure what kind of mechanic you could introduce that would both be fair AND not exploitable as hell by cheeky survivors getting cute with the game.

This
Had this been done at the beginning (so it was all designed from the ground up to be this way), it would probably be a lot easier but at this point, I think we're a little late to implement something like this.
In theory in DBD2 ever comes into existence, that might be the time to give this a go but I'm not sure there's really any reason to have a DBD2 given how this game can basically just be forever updated the way it has been (new killers/survivors/maps as DLC and upgrading the graphics every so often to make it stay pretty).

But keys aren’t unbalanced though? If it’s a swf team then they have to do all gens for the hatch to spawn anyway? Therefore there’s plenty of time to outplay them, hook one, slug one etc. Nothing wrong with that..
They still had one gen left. Had I not played like I did, three of them would have been able to waltz right on out as soon as they wanted to. Instead, my hand gets forced and I have to slug one of them with the hopes that the other three are going to be altruistic (which in this case they were).
EDIT: Actually, I must have taken one of them out before this because if there is one gen left, the hatch wouldn't have appeared. Adjusting my post accordingly (so changing the fours to three). I just recall slugging once they got to One Gen but I must have killed one of them in the process.
Had they not been altruistic or had I not been able to find one of them to down before they all got to the hatch, I'd have had three people skip their way right out of the trail without having to finish their objective or worry about me stopping them. I got lucky I found one of them away from the hatch area and I got lucky that the two people didn't just cut their loss and leave like they probably should have...

You don't get to derail a thread that would improve solo q as a killer pity thread. You, yourself are saying that self care helps killers, so why would a survivor perk help killers?
I'm pointing out how your changes would nerf the hell out of a killer perk. If talking about how your change would nerf the hell out of a killer perk is derailing your thread about you wanting to make changes to a killer perk, then I don't know what else to talk about here...

This discussion was made by a perspective of someone who plays solo survivor. If you want to add a way to make it more helpful for solo q, sure, this isn't about nerfing killer perks. Also if that person can't self care, they will be an insta down anyway.
You can argue it from whatever perspective you want but ultimately what you are asking for is a Killer Perk Nerf here. But not some tiny little Nerf, this would basically make Sloppy Butcher useless.
I'm sorry if that makes your game as a survivor harder but killer perks aren't designed to make life easier for you...
-

It would still affect others healing you and medkit usage.
and nerf it so hard with that 90% that it would become virtually useless outside of a few niche killers like Oni where keeping the survivors injured is the primary source of their power.
I suppose I can't say for certain as I'm not every single person who plays killer but I imagine the majority who do use it use it BECAUSE there are survivors who will sit in the corner and Self Care a hour because Sloppy is equipped. That survivor sitting in the corner isn't doing gens or saves or totems and therefore they are doing what the killer WANTS them to be doing.
-
That would take out about 90% of Sloppy Butcher's usefulness as a Killer perk...

I love how ppl always AiM bEttEr and the "non-existent" autoaim pulls my weapon to a invisible object/pallet/wall like there's a black hole attracting it.
Clearly your subconscious feels bad about killing these poor innocent survivors so when you swing, it twitches your arm muscle and makes you swing wide!
OT: I've found not lunging to be the only reliable way to not get autoaim screwed. It sucks because it burns a few extra seconds but if you're having trouble with a specific person who is really good at it, you're better taking the extra few seconds to not lunge.
-
My game yesterday was a great example
In the lobby, no keys. At the one second mark, two survivors switch to keys and they have the offering that tells them the hatch is in the main building. We go to the preschool level.
People act like getting 3 gens popped off is impossible but it's not until the end that killers can realistically defend gens (when there are only a handful left). There's literally nothing I could do cause I know exactly where that hatch is but I can either stand there and defend it (letting the gens get done) or I can defend the gens (letting everyone walk out via Hatch at their leisure).
The only reason I was able to actually do well is it was clear this was a SWF so they were overly altrustic when I started slugging once the hatch spawned. I forced them to choose to leave a man behind or just leave via the hatch with 3 instead and they insisted on getting their downed person saved. But then of course somehow I'M the ######### for slugging when they pulled their little lobby stunt :D
-
I used The Dwight face one game. My LF wouldn't leave the damn locker...
-
I have found if a survivor is being an annoying clicky click, ignore them. Almost every time, they will either be trying to get my attention away from the injured survivor nearby that I haven't seen yet or they'll keep chasing you clickity clicking, in which case that's a survivor not doing gens.
They want you to go after them. Don't let them play you.

I imagine it's because sometimes you didn't see them
With the rise of TTV Names with crossplay being implemented (so I play a lot more PC players who put that stuff in their name), it's amazing how many games I'll watch from their viewpoint and realize that I walked right by them.
Sure, when you see them, they look like idiots as you walk up to them and give them a smack but I imagine they think you look like an idiot every time you walk so close to them that they could have goosed you with their flashlight :D
-
NEVER!!!!
Anytime I get caught by the killer, it's because of BS mechanics!
Anytime I have a survivor escape, it's because of BS mechanics!
NOTHING IS MY FAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell, I play as a killer primarily and there are still plenty of perks that killers have that I don't fully understand.
So it's not shocking that there are plenty of survivors who don't realize everything Blood Warden does, especially because I've found killers using BW is incredibly rare. Hell, I use BW and I've considered plenty of times to pull the perk because it's just too dang niche to be that useful (but when it is useful, it's usually VERY useful so I just can't bring myself to pull it from the lineup. Especially when it becomes useful against that group of A-hole survivors who are in for a very sad surprise when they realize they just got themselves all killed taunting me instead of leaving when they had the chance T-Bag at me all you want guys, I can see the EGC timer is going to expire before BW goes away; you're all literally dead men buttdancing!).

Why do people call it this? ######### is the origin of the term "Kobe" as it pertains to jumping off of a hook in Dead by Daylight? Is this related to Kobe Bryant? Is basketball somehow related to Dead by Daylight? Is this just some stupid millennial zoomer thing?

I have no idea why it is called kobeing lol, probably something to do with Kobe Bryant (rip)
Yes, it's based on Kobe Bryant. Basically it's making a clutch shot. It's also popular for those of a certain generation to yell KOBEEEE! when they take a shot
OT: I've said it a few times now because for some reason this forum likes to find one topic and then beat that dead horse so badly that it is nothing but a bloody puddle of goo on the ground but to be OT, you try to Kobe in front of me, there's a decent chance I'm going to just let you go to 2nd hook for it. I ran all this way to save your dumbass and you're trying to take away the points I should get for coming all this way (especially as I routinely like to run WGLF) so you get yourself off the hook yourself if you're so independent
-
I've gotten myself killed because some selfish ass tried and failed to unhook themselves from the hook (I was crouching to them walking through Hag traps and he decides to try to jump off the hook, forcing me to trigger a trap to get him down before he went to 2nd stage).
So yeah, I have zero sympathy anymore after that. I won't just leave you to die (probably) but if you end up in the 2nd stage because of your own stupidity, so be it.
-
It is not bannable. There are three other survivors still alive per that screenshot (I assumed the EGC had started based on the post and you can't see the top of the screenshot but maybe it wasn't).
As long as the game is able to end, there is no taking the game hostage. It's scummy and annoying as hell (especially if this is towards the beginning of the match but we can't see how many gens are left) but the only way to take the game hostage is if the killer corners you AND there are no other survivors alive that can finish gens and open the gates and therefore the game can't end.
-
Nothing you can do about it. If the EGC has started, it's not taking the game hostage so there's no rule being broken.
All you've gained is a valuable lesson about making sure not to put yourself in a bad place
EDIT: As pointed out, I guess EGC probably hasn't started yet as you can see gens in the screenshot. Either way though, unless you are the only survivor left (and therefore the game literally cannot end while you are stuck in the corner), this is not taking the game hostage and all you've gained is a valuable lesson about making sure not to put yourself in a bad place. It's annoying and scummy but it is not illegal.
-
Can you imagine a world without Moris?!?!
Shudders
In seriousness though, I'm not sure I'd really ever notice. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe people are WAY too hyperbolic over how often they see them but I feel like I see a Mori MAYBE once every dozen games or so. As a killer, the only time I will ever use a Mori is if I have a daily challenge to kill someone by my own hand (and even then, I won't use it until either the survivor is on their Death Hook or my hand is forced like the EGC has started or something).
-
So are we just going to get (at least) a thread a day from people bitching that they're only getting 10K BP on some of the days (even though there have also been charms and cosmetics and iridescent shards also given out)?
Christ people, if the game makes you that miserable, have you considered just not playing anymore?
-
I've had games with Bubba where I never ended up using the chainsaw. If you don't have good add-ons to it, it can be incredibly risky to try to chainsaw people. If I'm not in a spot where I KNOW that chainsaw is going to land, I'm not going to bother and just bop you on the head with my meat hammer instead.
Then at that point, why chainsaw someone already hurt?
-

It's really really really really easy to RR1 as a survivor. Someone who is at least mostly competent (not necessarily good. Just competent) can pretty easily and quickly get to RR1 as survivor.
It's honestly a major reason I don't pay any attention to rank. It's more of an indication of how much you play rather than your level of skill.
-
I play nothing but solo.
Does it suck sometimes? Yup. But it's still a lot of fun to play. I just go into the game expecting to get ded and if I do escape, it's a happy surprise rather than expected.
-
My favorite thing as a killer is body blocking a survivor into the corner they tried to hide in and then throwing up on them until they get hurt as Plague because it doesn't let them phase through me when they get hurt by that (unlike if I were to smack them normally, in which then they can escape because they phase through me). Then I can just smack'em! Basically a free down when a survivor puts themselves in a corner :D
Sorry if you think that's "cheating" or whatever because it's not. You put yourself in a bad situation that the killer could take advantage of by standing in the way and you pay the price for it. If the survivors are body blocking you, that I can understand being mad about but as a killer, you bet your ass I'm going to do what I can to knock you out as efficiently as possible!
-
I've always loved me my Surveillance. The information it gives you is incredibly useful as not only does it tell you where you might need to go when they turn yellow, it also tells you now where you don't need to go because if it's still white, you know you can completely ignore that area.
Even after the accidental buff was taken away (evidently once the gen regressed to 0, it was supposed to go back to red but for a long time, it always stayed white), I still have it on basically every killer.
Thrilling Tremors while also good, basically only gives you the info for 16 seconds or so. Once that 16 seconds is up, you're right back to being starved of information.
-
Thanks Michael! Have a Merry Christmas yourself!!!
-
Yeah, I certainly do
and I know I shouldn't. It's stupid that I let that ######### get under my skin like that and downright embarrassing how many keyboards I've replaced because some ######### sat there t-bagging after I had such a sucky match. I've considered quitting this game on multiple occasions; not because of bugs or balance or issues but because I got so pissed off and deflated after my fourth game in a row filled with ######### mocking me the entire time that I had no desire to want to play the game again.
It's annoying too because I know those ######### don't care that they're ruining the experience of the game for so many players. BHVR is the one that pays the price (since if I'm not playing anymore, I'm not buying DLC or Cosmetics or Rift Passes anymore) while they just skip along getting joy off of making others miserable.
-
It's a very strange hit or miss system. It took me a few games to figure it out.
1. It doesn't go nearly as far as you probably think it does. You can get a good idea of this though by throwing up far away from gens (you'll get "contagious" points once you've actually hit so you can dial in your actual range)
2. If there's anything in the way, you'll probably miss. You could see 90% of the survivors body with 10% behind that car and it's likely you're not gonna hit them
3. Them jumping through windows is almost guaranteed a miss. They seem to be invincible going through the windows
4. It's a lot easier to throw up on everything around them. Throw up at the pallet/window before they get to it (see above for why waiting doesn't work).
5. You're usually better off charging the full spray and hitting them multiple times rather than a half charge that somehow manages to miss because the game flips a coin when determining if that Throw up actually hit them or not...
Hope that helps!

It's not that deep dude lol, it's just wildly inefficient.
You just wasted a teammates time if you waited until they're right at your hook to pull it off. I can understand if they try it shortly after the killer leaves, but most people are just doing it in the faces of other teammates after sitting there idly.
Especially when I made that trip across the map with the expectation of having my "We're Gonna Live Forever" perk pay off...
-
Leave them when they get on the next hook. You want to just save yourself, get yourself out of it again :D
Or at least wait for a while. Let them feel your pain in their thumb having to tap the button to struggle!
