I’ll give them a first hook. Let them get rescued and leave them for a few minutes while I focus on everyone else. If crows form again and it’s been a while, straight on the hook to die. I’ve given them plenty of time to get back in to the game. Some of them do, some don’t.
I feel that’s fair. If you’ve loaded into a match, you should be at your keyboard/controller. If there’s some kind of issue behind the scenes I give them time to get back. Too long and that’s tough, you’re not doing anything anyway after all that time.
(crow notifications are annoying as well)
Exactly what I do.
They get the first hook as their price to pay for wasting my time and then I'll leave them alone until the explosion notifications start because that's now annoying me so back on you go. Repeat a third time if necessary if someone grabs them off in time.
Although I do love getting whiny messages about it. You not being ready to play is not my problem mate. Pay attention to your game next time.

I'm fine with the term but kind of like Tunneling, many have labeled acts of...well...playing the game as Bully Squads rather than a very specific playstyle. The term has been watered down something fierce by people who think that a player who is good with a flashlight is a bully squad.

It was a requested feature that the community wanted, because a small minority of people who play this game will go out of their way to harass other players.
This unfortunately
This was less about "being special" or whatever and more about people who were getting sick of getting yelled at and harassed outside of the game because we can't have nice things in this community

And this is kinda where BHVR have shot themselves in the foot with shards. There is no shard sink apart from literally their income streams.
Can't use Shards to buy specific Items/Addons whenever you want, can't use 'em to buy Perks outside of the Shrine which has a low refresh rate and limited sink power for veterans, can't use 'em to buy Charms that are effectively discontinued each time a rift is finished. Can only really use them to buy cosmetics and characters.
And so people have huge stashes of them. And when given the choice to buy something with money or with shards, why not use shards? Even if you really like the thing they released, well, why not use that free currency? (This is under the assumption that you'd never pay with real currency even if the released content was stuff you enjoyed, so long as you had shards to spare).
I have like....130,000 Shards
I could stop playing right now and buy originals for the rest of DBD's life

So I guess you didn't like the chapter because you bought it with Shards, a fake game currency that does nothing to support BHVR as a business.
If they really wanted to convince people to buy their stuff, they'd remove Iri shards from the game completely and rebalance Auric Cell prices accordingly.
Yes
If I had to pay real money to get this last chapter, I wouldn't have. But I have so many damn shards that it means literally nothing to me to spend them. I feel like I somehow have a higher opinion on The Skull Merchant than many others and I still wouldn't pay real money for her, or at least not full price.

the point is BHVR has a track record of always trying to fix things. They care. So why starve them of money, the very funds they need to keep working? BHVR's track record of always trying to improve speaks for itself.
If not buying this DLC is enough to sink the company, BHVR was in FAR more trouble than anything anyone here could do to fix it

Who does Holly support 😍
Holly supports The Artist because Holly loves birbs and The Artist creates Birbs for her
Edit: Wait, that's Olive. Eh, close enough!
-
I "bought" it already with Shards
But it's on BHVR to convince people to buy their stuff. It's not on the consumer to blindly throw money at a company and hope they do good with it.
If BHVR can't convince people of that, it's on BHVR. You can't blame your customers when you release a bad product for not buying your bad product.

But you can communicate.
And...I do not want to.
I'm not sure what else you want me to say. If BHVR adds comms by default, I'd likely stop playing.
-
If comms are in the game, BHVR will start balancing like everyone can communicate. You'd put yourself at a big disadvantage if you (or your team) chooses not to use the voice comms if they are put in by default
-
I have zero desire to add comms to my solo queue experience
Hell, I think the reason why I gravitated towards this game over the other Asymmetrical games like The Evil Dead Game is BECAUSE I don't need to use the comms.
-
We shall see
While healing has taken a major hit, a lot of the gen regression perks that make getting gens done are also getting hammered. Whether that is enough to balance the two out or not, we shall see.
But as I've said in the other threads, survivors will figure out how to adapt. Personally I already run Bond so I've already quasi-adapted to the change.

I don't know, after two poorly received chapters and now this. I would not be surprised if this is the last straw for a lot of people.
We shall see
I've seen way more praise for these changes than people mad in my circles but we won't know for sure until it actually comes out.

You can't deny that they are making the game a ton less fun with this patch. They will most likely lose a lot of their player base if they go through with this.
It'll be like every other DOOMSDAY DBD IS DYING Y'ALL patch
I'll keep playing and I'll learn to adapt to the changes
-
So the devs gut your least favorite part (the gen kick meta) while killing a perk that you admit is unhealthy for the game and needed to be changed while also making your favorite playstyle (healing and altruism) a lot stronger (as survivors are going to need strong healing players to help counter the loss of CoH)?
I mean...you can do what you want but what you're saying and what you're complaining about seem to be at odds with one another.
-
Does eating Pentimento flavored bones give stacks to Inner Strength? I know you couldn't Boon goes the Dynamite them but I'm not sure about Inner...
-
That actually used to be my jam until CoH came out.
Welcome back old friend...
-
Some pretty big changes that at least on paper looks to really shake up survivor side. Certainly some to killer side too but that CoH nerf feels huge.
I'll be curious to see how this all shakes out cause at least on quick glance, it feels like survivors really got hammered. Or maybe it just feels that way cause I use CoH because my team isn't reliable to heal me and now my main perk just got roasted 😅

I don't know birbs so I don't know for sure what he is :D
I did buy a birb book so I need to start giving it a read and figure out what birbs are what. Basically unless it's a Cardinal or a Woodpecker, I don't know what they are.

Watch the silent hill transmission from last year for all the news about upcoming silent hill games
Part of that is on my jaded self. Konami has fallen so badly from grace and after they kept announcing and JK'ing Silent Hill stuff, I basically have tuned it all out now

I believe Blooper Team (or whatever they're called) is doing the SH 2 remake. Unsure if they have a hand in other upcoming SH titles.
Ha, we were both half right
I Googled it; it's Bloober Team. So I had the name right but you had the order right :D

Konami announced they're codeveloping one of the new titles together with BHVR. Kinda wild, that.
Huh
For some reason I thought Team Bloober was in line to do that game but maybe I just made that up or maybe it's just what people online wanted (for some strange reason cause the Bloober games I've played have been...not great).
-
...what's that Silent Hill game on the bottom?
WHAT'S THE SILENT HILL GAME BHVR!?!?!/!/
ANSWER ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't fill me with hope only to crush it BHVR. I can't take it. Not again...
-
Sorry BHVR, KurtCo says you can't make games anymore because they don't like them. Turn in your badge and your gun.
-
I do my very best to make the game fun for everyone. I'll go for probably foolish saves to help a teammate, I won't tunnel, I won't BM, ec etc
That being said though, I have no problem returning energy given if it comes down to it. If you want to try to bully squad me, I'll leave you all on the ground for four minutes to think about what you've done...

There does seem to be way less, though as others have pointed out, there's a lot more "automated" codes like Rank Reset and whatnot
I liked the codes just because it was fun but I can understand why they've gone more away from them in favor of automatic sign in rewards instead

Getting frustrated over tunneling and camping is completely normal, I do it all the time. But I don't get why people would immediately blame the killer player for using a good strategy. It's on the devs to finally nerf tunneling and camping enough, and buff the fair play of killers more, so that tunneling and camping don't really have reasons to be used anymore.
I'll roll my eyes when a killer does it cause it's a cheesy ass way to play the game (like spawn camping in a FPS) but I'm not gonna get mad and shout at the killer for doing it. BHVR has let it be a very effective strategy so I just deal with it and move on with my life.
But others will and the killer player just has to be prepared for that, whether it's fair to blame them or not.

It can still light up when the killer is looking at you. That's still fairly useful information without completely invalidating stealth killers.
@rororoxor said:

It could be made more fair, like what OP is suggesting. Look at it from the other side, where as killer you're forced to M1 chase with no power because someone with a perk completely shut you down.
I thought that's it did only go off if the killer was looking in your direction but evidently it changed to 36m no matter what.
Then yes, I am on board with the LoS change (assuming the OP means just looking the survivors way, not that they physically have to see the survivor for Spine Chill to go off, the survivor having to be physically looked at before it goes off would make the perk virtually useless since most killers worth their salt keep stuff between them and the survivor on their way to a generator).
-
Then...what would the perk even do? Lighting up to say "OI! The killer is in your area and is coming to stab you in the butt" is the entire point of the perks existence...

- Some players suffer from motion sickness with a narrow FoV, they either can't play killer, or they have to run Shadowborn as a necessity, essentially robbing them of a perk slot because Shadowborn is a terrible perk.
- Similarly, some players (probably even fewer than the above though) suffer from motion sickness with a FP FoV that's too big, these people cannot run Shadowborn, because then they get motion sickness, so simply raising the static FoV is't a solution, there needs to be a choice, and one that doesn't consume a perk slot.
- A narrow FoV leads to a high level of disorientation whether you suffer from motion sickness or not, playing killer is incredibly disorienting, viewing the world through a set of binoculars strapped to your eye sockets. This is what enables survivors to literally hide on your toes, or spin you around. While survivors have become used to these tactics that doesn't mean these "techs" are an essential part of survivor gameplay, any more than the old instant flashlight blinds or hook facecamping used to be. This is a QoL issue that killers have had to simply 'put up with' since the game's inception.
Simply "spotting a survivor out of the corner of your eye" is the last concern for killers, you don't expect to be able to spot survivors more easily with a wider FoV, it's about disorientation, whether in close-quarters with a survivor, or because of very real issue of motion sickness preventing play at all.

Motion Sickness, some people can't play video-games (specifically, First-Person) if the FoV is lower or equal to 90, and the default killer FoV is 87.
I can't play killer without Shadowborn cause I get nauseous/headaches without it.
The FOV of FP games that I play need to be 100 or higher.

People who get motion sickness, or have other visual impairments that aren't about color.
Huh...that's not something I've really ever heard of before but I'll take y'alls word for it.
Edit: I googled it and it seems to be common enough that it has a name; Simulator Sickness. I've never had any issues like that and figured motion sickness would be caused by...well...motion. Although I suppose your FOV is motion when you're whippin your head back and forth searching.
-
Oh good, a FOV thread, I can finally ask this (and I swear I'm not being a Judgemental B, I legit don't get it)
What is the accessibility fix that a FOV slider would give? I can see why you'd want one for gameplay reasons (larger FOV gives you more to see so you might catch a survivor out of the corner of your eye you otherwise missed) but I don't get how that is an accessibility issue.

What saddens me is that you are missing the point. Survivors getting attention but killers aren't getting any changes to improve their quality of gameplay. Why aren't both getting the same treatment?
Did you have this same energy when they added the colorblind mode to make scratch marks easier for killers to see?
-
I don't play DBDM so does the heart just "glow" more as the terror radius get louder? Like it starts with no heart and gets brighter as the killer gets closer?
-
LOL Freudian Slip in the title
-
I stick around but if it's an immediate DC or they killed themselves on the hook, but I imagine most people would understand if another player chooses not to.
As a killer, I personally play normal until we hit the death hook, then I just let them hammer gens. If a survivor gives themselves up though, I'll grant their wish and hook them to death.

So cute.
you should sacrifice someone -anyone- to satisfy Frostys needs.
The problem is that Frosty's bloodlust is unquenchable. Every victim just makes her more powerful but her need for Death will eventually kill us all if we let her power grow unchecked.

How tf are you maxing sacrifice????
That's why I added the "damn close to it" part :D
I think it is "technically" possible but it takes a lot of things falling into your favor (namely getting 12 hooks and having some of them in the EGC because those ones are worth more points).
I have maxed it out before but that was an exception, not the rule
-
You can do whatever you want
Just don't be shocked when people get irked at you in the chat or whatever
-
There's a zero percent chance it's not autospend, right?
BHVR is well aware that this is like...one of the highest asked for features in the bloodweb so even they wouldn't make the mistake of teasing us like this only for it to end up being like...a reroll or something...
Right?

Except I guess doing better at the beginning of the match and getting kills earlier, that is exactly what you should have done in that given situation.
I had a team of survivors get pissy at me for the same exact thing as Plague. The survivor was under a pallet so I couldn't pick the person up without getting stunned but I had zero reason to leave that spot as chasing after someone was just going to lose me everyone. So I posted up with my campfire and marshmallow and waited for them to make the first move and got a 4K out of it (I had Blood Warden on so them waiting so long REALLY screwed them over once I was able to down and hook one of them there).
"Desperate Camp There!"
No S word there Sherlock. It's the EGC and it's a desperate play to try to salvage the game. It's not my fault that it worked because you guys misplayed the situation.

This might sound weird but I think there'd be a lot more people mad about that than happy.
There are long time players who see those as a "badge of honor" kind of thing (they have expired add-ons and offerings from forever ago).
Personally I imagine I'm the majority opinion (couldn't care less) but the people who care REALLY care and would probably be super bitter if BHVR deleted their stuff.
