Is it a strategy? Yes. Not a legitimate one. But it is one.

Either that. Or fewer killer players are using the Spirit and so there are fewer complaints from survs.
Also possible.

I mean I get where they're coming from. Still not cool though.

Or just make all hex totem effects persist for 40/50/60 seconds(depending on perk tier) after destroyed such as haunted grounds.
That's actually exactly what I was thinking.

If they added hook saves to it as well it'd be solid.

Yes but lockers aren't in every square inch of the map, and now you have iron maiden since legion to counter that anyway. My point isn't that there is no counterplay, but there isn't much and there is no downside to that perk. You already are getting a leg up with the hook, now you get extra points and free information unless people have been able to find a locker
It's a perk. Perks shouldn't have downsides.

I'm sorry the perk that automatically gives you extra points for doing what you're supposed to try to do and automatically let's you see survivors nearly anywhere on the map isn't a crutch? Run rancor, at least then there is a balance if you have to run a "I can see you" perk
Lockers hard counter Bbq...
-
It's possible, that her nerfs, while not addressing the issue people had, brought her to a more enjoyable level. I'm just guessing but that might be what has happened.

They ruin the game for some. For others it's the only way they like to play.

It was a great feature. I don't think I saw a single complaint about it.

Assuming that both sides play efficiently, the game is survivor sided. For one simple reason, time. Time is not on the side of the killers. This is of course assuming that the map is neutral. The map can swing things alot in one sides favor.

Fair enough.

Sorry Jeff!
There are Jeff mains?

Claudette, Feng, Dwight, and Nancy. I started with each of them because I liked their perks. Claudette was my OG main. After that I stuck with them as I'd grown fond of them all.
-
The most likely answer is there are simply not enough high rank killers to survivors. This is probably due to killer being a bit harder to rank up and players that decided killer is too stressful. Though the stressful part is ridiculous to me. The only stress in this game, is the stress you place on yourself.

Lol. I'm like level 19.

How? I'm legitimately curious. It's pretty much useless as far as I can see.
-
My guess is they'll look at them this summer. Along with keys. They'll have to hit keys at the same time, or killers will riot.
-
1) Crouch removes TR faster. 2 seconds at most.
2) An addon to remove her roar during dash attacks.
3) Have bear traps activate when you put them on. Force them to actually remove it immediately instead of doing other things.
4) An extra trap would be nice.
5) Also an extra box.
6) An addon to increase her crouch walking speed.
7) An addon to increase her dash attack duration or distance. Possibly one for each.
8) If number 3 wouldn't be implemented have survivors suffer from a repair and healing speed debuff while wearing a rbt.

No, it is finally in line with other Exhaustion perks.
I wouldn't mind a buff to 80% stagger, but 100% could create infinites.
How? It's one use. It would be impossible to create an infinite with one use. I don't think the percentage needs buffed. But your argument doesn't really make sense.

I wholeheartedly disagree on this.
Many of our members are very well versed in discussing issues and provide great and constructive feedback. And positive posts aren't the thing we are looking for, even if they are quite nice to see once in a while.
Even if many members use it for that purpose, forums aren't only created for feedback, it is also a place for the Community to get together, exchange ideas, discuss, share cool DBD related stuff. Critiques and expressing frustration is a part of it as well.
Now, we aren't mindlessly reporting ''this is OP'' or ''this sucks'' to the team, we select mainly constructive feedback and ask questions to make the discussions progress (Peanits is our champion for this). Forums are also not the only place we collect feedback from.
Anyways, as long as it is done within the rules, no subject is out of the question and if a member desires to express a frustration towards the game, they are welcome to do so.
Lol. I didn't look at the name. I just assumed it was Peanits responding at first.
-
And all killers do is call for survivor nerfs. It's just the nature of having two opposing sides.

My point being, constructive is the way to go. I completely agree. However, when you see the same trend happening, despite any amount of constructive criticism, It starts to become redundant. Which is where emotion then takes the place of reason.
Which is my point. At a certain juncture, people will be fed up, it's starting to show. People don't want to stand on that side of the fence, pretend it's not a thing, but it certainly is.
I do agree. Constructive points are best but they are meaningless if left unheard or ignored.
I disagree that they are meaningless. Regardless of whether that criticism sparks change. They'll have done what they can. Gave solid rational feedback. In the end that's all we can do that might lead to positive changes. There's no guarantee. But it'll get you farther than rage filled rants.
To clarify I'm not saying that's what you are doing.

Complaints get you nowhere? Really? That's your argument?
Look around the forums.. use the search bar.. look at how many "complained" about, Oni. Now he is a much worse, Billy. Who didn't cost anything.. btw.
Positive feedback only goes so far. If you are upset with something, you want change, you express it. Sitting on your hands never did a damn thing for me in life, not about to start now.
I agree you should express when a change is bad in your opinion. The key is doing it in a constructive manner. Most of the threads about this hotfix have been anything but constructive.

That's at base but with add-ons its more 😉. I don't mind the base speeds but add-ons make them too powerful imo.
It's a pretty steep BP cost for the power it brings. I wouldn't oppose some add on tweaks. Not as long as they don't nerf them to the point that they're a giant waste of points.

Tool box addons need looked at, toolboxes are too strong especially with some addons.
Personally I dont think the best tool box should remove more than 15s and the addons should be more about keeping the toolbox for longer periods and having easier skill checks to help with the likes of Ruin. it should be something to give you a little but they do give way too much atm.
To be fair, the engineers toolbox only removes 16 seconds.

Interesting.
You know, I've ranted A LOT about many things from this game. I admit it. And I've ranted about this topic before as well, but I mean seriously???
This just SADDENS me... I cannot believe Adam has been out for OVER A YEAR and YUI has more cosmetics than him!!! And she came out like 15 seconds ago!!
This is just ugly. Every character that came out after him has more outfits... @not_Queen @Peanits @Clyde
I know not a lot of people care about Adam (for reasons they wont admit), but there are a few of us that DO.
I know at this point it looks/feels like I'm grasping for straws... and I'm sorry for bringing this up over and over again. But PLEASE, give Adam more love and attention. He's a professor for goodness sake! He deserves respect lmao.
Please talk to Filip and the Art team or whoever has the power to make this happen.
I expect a new outfit in the store and in the upcoming rift when the latter comes out! (just kidding... but not really...)
What reason do you believe people dislike Adam for?

What about if there was an option where if you own the character, you can spend shards to instantly unlock the teachable instead of having to level them?
People wouldn't have to level characters they don't want to, they can unlock perks they want easier and redundant free perks wouldn't need to appear on the shrine anymore.
I'd be happy with that. Though I'm sure BHVR would never go for that.

Well you are getting something out of it so you aren't wasting your points.
Yes, but spending shards would be more efficient. If I wanted Self Care for example. But don't want to play Claudette. I'd be annoyed I had to waste a bunch of points. With no chance to avoid that with the shrine.
-
So your argument is they should waste points on a character they'll never use?

With EGC whispers isn’t needed as much anymore because as killer you should be satisfied with 3 kills.

Alright so ive been playing killer a lot and I've found that most games you get gen rushed. I'm trying super hard just to level up The Hag to get ruin.
But I don't play as Hag. I just think its unfair that i have to grind to level up a character I don't want to play as just to get one perk. I would like to spend my bloodpoints on a killer I main.
You guys might not find this a problem but I just find it irritating especially when the perk never shows up in the Shrine of Secrets.
While I agree that it can be frustrating, it has in fact shown up on the shrine. Twice in the last year that I can recall.

Just buff lower tier killers rather than affecting gen speed, cause all killers are going to do is play with A tier killers and 4K every game because no one can do generators since they take longer
I think you're overestimating the damage being 20% slower on a gen would do. If they decide to not bother with looking for a toolbox it would take 16 seconds more. The idea is to slow down the early game by just a bit.
As a side note. I've suggested multiple buffs for lower tier killers. I'd argue for those buffs and this.

No heal meta is overrated unless you are facing Plague or Legion.
If you are so confident in not going down while injured then why are you injured?
Regardless the better you are at looping until a specific thresh hold (however long you need to loop in order to never get hit) the more valuable healing is. Meaning that as you become more and more skilled the better it is to be healed.
Basically, being healed among other things doubles(ish) your next chase's length at the cost of 32 seconds (or less with perks or a medkit). If you can loop for more than 32 seconds without getting hit then you will always profit on time by healing, perks can lower the time requirement.
In my case I run both Second Wind and Well Make it. That's effectively 2 heals in 16 seconds. Thus even if each of us can loop for only 8 seconds it's worth the time spent healing.
I prefer to be at full health as well. But so many people think the best play is to always not heal. It can make something like Second Wind hard to get.
-
@ArrowTheGreat11 said:
If you want to reduce gen speed then all killers would have to be nerfed. Killer mains are always thinking in SWF but never realize how hard it is for solo players. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve been in where 5 gens were left despite no ruin because everyone wants to urban evasion to the corner of the map when they hear a heartbeat.....in red ranks....................
Uhh I'm a survivor main. I suggested this to try to balance things out for lower tier killers. The example you gave is an outlier. You can't balance around rank 1 everyone playing perfectly. Just as you can't balance around everyone being potatoes. You have to find aa happy a median as possible.

I know you have to heal someone first but OP said "after being unhooked". So it's basically DS
Which means it's not free. Especially in a no heal meta.
-
@Rin_is_my_waifu said:
We already have to deal with DS which is really annoying even if you don't tunnel and you want to add another free healt state - second chance perk
How about no?
How is it free? They had to meet conditions to use a one time use perk.
@joshuashep22 said:
From my testing the perk seems very underwhelming for example decisive strike is a perk survivors do not have to work for but yet it provides a very powerful benefit whereas second wind can be countered easily and survivors have to work for it's negligible effect overall I think the perk should be repurposed or buffed in a unique fun yet fair way. My proposed changes would be to give the user 32 seconds of the endurance status effect when being unhooked or unhooking yourself acting like a personal borrowed time that can be used with deliverance what are your thoughts?
32 seconds is probably too long. 20 would be okay I think.
-
@sir_pookychan said:
I think we should just remove the toolbox ability to affect gen repair speed. Have them only for sabotage except with am item like a BNP which instead of its current ability unlocks the ability to increase repair speed with toolboxes.
They'd have to rework nearly all the addons, and toolboxes would become basically useless.
-
@DBDfan12 said:
im so tired of the term gen rushing. its so dumb, thats what youre suppose to be doing. the role of survor is to fix gens. no you didn't gen rush if you finished them quickly. the killers job is to stop you . there is NO SUCH THING AS GEN RUSHING
I'll see your no such thing as gen rushing. And raise you 4 commodious toolboxes. With socket swivels and clean rag addons.
Now that said. The term is ridiculously over used. But my above example sure as hell is gen rushing.

I wasn't talking about you I love your idea!
My idea would probably be to make Ruin basekit but its regression depends on the amount of other totems up. Also the Ruin totem respawns after 90 seconds. A clunky idea but its an idea
I wasn't being snarky. My hope was to get people engaged, without the usual survivor verse killer stand off these things usually attract.
Your idea is similar to something I'd suggested in the past. Where survivors had a repair speed debuff for each totem on the map. I've also had an idea where ruin was spread across two totems. You had to destroy both to get rid of it.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
It's funny how many people are saying "make gens slower" without considering other solutions or even the repercussions of that solution. I guess they realize that is all devs will do because devs aren't willing to add another objective. Slightly disappointing.
I thought hunting down something to fix gens, would basically be another objective. I was looking for something fairly simple to implement. That would still, hopefully, give lower tier killers a chance to get going. If you have an idea I'd like to hear it. That was the main point to this thread. To give my solution, and let others improve upon it. Or give a better idea.
-
@Troman said:
So, you are basically proposing to make gen repair slower on average. The speed is either slower or the same, on average it will be slower than now.
The question is why would you want that? Survivors are already barely surviving with 30% escape rate on average in red ranks. Do you want a 100% kill rate?
Where is the logic? This idea makes no sense whatsoever. If anything, the gen repair must be made faster, to balance out the very low escape rate.
Because games can go way too fast. This would be a small change that would hopefully balance that out a bit. Especially for lower tier killers that need time to get rolling.
@Myers_Is_My_Dad said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/906311#Comment_906311
I always thought it would be a nice idea if totems were linked to gen speed, like the more totems are done the faster the gens are able to go since the totems are kind of a fun easter egg hunt for survivors while they sneak around avoiding the killer. It seems it must have been suggested already though, but is there a reason that hasn't been tried?
I'd actually suggested this before. It never got any traction.
-
@Peanits said:
Now I'm not totally against it, but there's a bunch of things that need to be considered, such as:
- Where do these toolboxes spawn? Set locations? Chests? Literally anywhere? Do I need to search every inch of grass in case they're in there? Do you see them?
- What if I want to use a different item, like a medkit or a flashlight? Would I have to drop that and grab a toolbox instead?
More importantly, in order for it to be worthwhile for survivors, you would need to find a toolbox and get back to a generator in under 20 seconds, otherwise you'd be better of powering through it. But that also raises a different question, would those extra 20 seconds really be a game changer against a really good team?
Those are the sorts of things I'm curious about.
They couldn't spawn in chests. There would be too many chests to search if that were the case. Spawn points would need to be semi hidden but not off in a random patch of grass. Obviously it would take alot of work to make something like this happen. But I think it could work.
As for the different item thing. Unfortunately yes. But realistically it wouldn't be that hard to set your preferred item in a good spot. I also toyed with the idea of once a survivor picks up the toolbox it becomes invisible. There would just be a separate icon for the trial specific toolbox. The more I think about it the second option is probably a better way to go.
That's why I think it could work. Survivors have to decide if it's better to power through or hunt for a toolbox. You see the complaints about 5 minute games. An extra minute can be a big difference in this kind of game. I feel like it's a small enough change, that no survivors are going to complain. Except for those that would complain no matter what. But if could be a big enough change to give killers some room to breathe. Obviously this would need more fleshing out. But I think the basic idea is there.
-
Depends on your goals for the match. If you want to know whether to go for the saves, Kindred would be best. Empathy would be really good if you'd prefer to use a flashlight and try to keep your team off hooks. Or even a toolbox and break those hooks as the killer approaches.
