Isn't the stacking just additive though? Seems like there's no reason to hoard them for another event.

As for the OP's question, I'm not entirely sure. I know I had upwards of 50-60 on killers that I played a lot during the event, and a good chunk on every other killer that I took advantage of the event to level. I'll have to count when I get home, now I'm curious.

It is. But others usually burn them then as well. So you end up with tons of points.

I dont think this was console, otherwise OP wouldnt be able to take a picture WHILE working on the gen if they had to go through a menu. As for what I would do...Lets back track real quick. Theres 3 survivors left, 1 guy gets hooked. Lets give him the benifit of the doubt and think the first guy hooked WASNT the one with kindred so OP didnt know where his other teammate was. The moment his other teammate took damage and it became clear he was being chased, OP shouldve been moving for the save. Its real easy to wait til things are completely out of hand to stop and go "Well what else am I suppose to do NOW" when the time to act is already over. OP turned this into a hatch game by not prioritizing a save when it mattered. Since it IS a hatch game, doing that gen will only give away their position. The only smart thing to do at this point is to wait til they both die while standing away from things like gens.

Now, I'm gonna present you a similar question. You're the Deathslinger. You down and hook one guy, then get into another chase and manage to hook another guy. You have 4 gens on the side of the map your at and 1 in the far corner. What do you do now exactly? Judging by the bars under the names, its been about 30 seconds since your last hook. Thats enough time to verify at least the gens on your side of the map are still sparking.

It's also entirely possible the first one hooked had Kindred. The other survivor was closer and went for the unhook. Was already injured and got caught. We can spin theories back and forth all day. But neither of us know what exactly happened in this match. I'm not saying either the killer or the OP did anything wrong.

My only point has been that I don't believe you understood the OP's point. And given the photo they took I can see why. Especially given that, at least from what have been able to tell you seem to play more killer than survivor.

It takes like 1 second to snap a picture. You just hit F12. If thats all it takes, I could put on kindred and hit the button after EVERY hook to claim its camping. What your asking the killer to do is basically to stand in a corner, and even then... We clearly see OP has poor priorities so they probably STILL wouldnt save. This gen the OP is on is very likely the only gen remaining on this half of the map.

Pictures take a little longer to grab on console. But yes they could do what you described. However, at least in my experience nearly every Deathslinger plays like this.

Also I'm not asking them to do anything. I'm saying what I would do. Of course there's no guarantee they will save if you leave. But it's a guarantee they won't if you don't. If they don't save I have a head start looking for them. If they do I get more points. For me leaving better suits my goals.

As for the OP's priorities, what else would you like them to do? They have two options. Try for a pair of yolo saves when the killer can see them coming from a mile away. Or work a gen and get some points. Letting their team die isn't preferable, and depending on how that match had gone I'd probably try to save. But I also understand not feeding the camper regardless of if the camping is justified.

  • @goatslinger said:

So you saw them crouch behind the hook, or know they're in the closest locker, and instead of getting them you're just going to camp and tunnel? I don't get it.

That was my thought. Just kill the guy you know is there. Who cares if their other friend unhooks them then? You already have your next hook lined up. And it'll probably be the same thing with the next hook. Just take the easy win.

  • About 150 total I think.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443561#Comment_1443561

I get that, but you cant expect the killer to assume the player is doing the worst thing possible either. The Deathslinger got up on a hill trying to spot the last target because their BBQ hasnt told em anything on where OP was and unless they have Whispers... Theyd be searching the map blindly on a very bush dense map to begin with.

I get that. But if the OP had time to snap that pic he was on that hill for a while. Personally I'd have used the hill to see if I could spot them then move on. Yes he'd be blindly searching. But again from my perspective I want the points. He's not in any real danger of losing. I'm not saying he's playing it wrong. I just care more about points than securing the sacrifice.

  • @Boss said:

For me it's the other way around.

My Survivors seem to either put nothing, or personal BP.

Honestly as survivor I usually burn nothing. If I do I'm usually the first found and tunneled out. Same thing if I run Deliverance. I'm guaranteed to be found first.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443524#Comment_1443524

From what I'm seeing, OP working on that gen is so low on the list of priorities, theyd be better off hiding in a locker than actually popping it. Theyre the only ones left so unless they plan on letting their teammates die, they need to get moving. If they DO plan on letting their teammates die for hatch, announcing their location is the worst thing you can do. With all this in mind...you can't expect the killer to go across the map to check the gen in the corner. Theres really nothing in this picture that suggests the killer was playing cheap at all and looks very likely that OP was just popping gens in the furthest end of the map while basically every other player was on the other side.

Like I said, they didn't pick a good picture to convey their point. Personally I disagree with the Deathslingers choice though. It might be the most efficient play. But in the situation above i would want them to get saved. I have one dead with 3 gens to go. I'm clearly in control and want to secure more points in that situation.

  • So don't? The amount of points lost isn't that significant. The only reason to really care enough to slug for the 4k is if you are worried about piping. Then again I feel they need to lower the standards for killers too pip slightly. But that's another discussion entirely.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1442966#Comment_1442966

The picture shows none of that though. All it DOES show is OP working on gens on the opposite side of the map from where the action is while distortion is hiding them from BBQ. Looks like the killer is standing on a hill trying to get an idea where the last survivor could be.

Yes, they picked a poor picture to represent their point. Unless I've deeply misunderstood what they were trying to convey. Based on the picture the OP provided I would say the killer is making the correct play. But that looks like nearly every Deathslinger match I have. Regardless of how many survivors are left. Or gens there are to go.

  • @LordGlint said:

With 1 dead and 2 on hook next to each other, why should he both crossing to the opposite side of the map? You're clearly not gonna pop 3 gens before they die so the timer is on you, not him.

That's not the point the op is trying to make. The vast majority of Deathslingers, at least that I face play exactly like this. They proxy the area and wait for you to come to them. Even then they won't chase you. And most of them will run Monitor to avoid BT so they can immediately slug the unhook. Sadly I've yet to have a single enjoyable Deathslinger match.

  • Why do some survivors feel the need to tbag or send harassing messages after a game? People are generally ######### on the internet. They have no fear of actual consequences because they are safe and secure behind a monitor. It's just an unfortunate fact of human nature.

  • Or they could buff the under used perks to make them more appealing.

But yet if I protect my hook in a situation where I know I should I'm called a camper and "the problem with dead by daylight" by entitled survivors who EXPECT you to sacrifice your game as the killer to pamper them and make their game fun.

It's end game. Nobody can ######### if you camp when then gens are completed. If they do to bad for them.

  • Or run Deliverance, DS, Breakdown, and Saboteur. Just be an obnoxious little #########.

  • It can render killers powers like the Trapper's worthless.

Yeah I get it shes hard to go against big deal she has counter play you guys just are too stubborn too utilize it! You just killed Billy stop trying to kill Spirit.

We didn't kill Billy. The devs did that.

  • You can't balance around top tier play. Nor can you balance around the noobs either. You need to balance around mid tier play as that's where the majority of your playerbase is. Then you need to look at high tier play and tweak things to make them as fair as you can for those players.

  • I much prefer Spine Chill. It helps to counter stealth killers and Spirit. It help you determine if the killer is coming to you or is just in the area. Also the small bonuses can come in clutch.

Yet they rate Freddy, Oni and Spirit (the good killers) as unfun while clown, trapper and huntress (easy to bully) are at the top of their lists

Please tell me what the problem with deathslinger is then

And he tops the comment off with an ad-hominem

People don't like Spirit because she feels like a guessing game.

People don't like Freddy because they almost all play a massive stall game. Add in his broken looking lunge and he definitely can feel bad to face. Personally I don't dislike him. But I understand it.

I never really hear people complain about Oni. The only issue I have with him is his funky terror radius.

I've said it before. And I'll say it again. Survivors don't dislike a killer being strong. Billy was the perfect example of this. He was fun to face. He could wreck you but was never oppressive feeling.

  • Ngl. I'm tempted to try this to get my tombstone achievement.

  • The match making is just kinda broken at this point. But I find it less bothersome than their attitudes though.

  • He has addons to slow down the game. His teleport gives him map pressure. And his snares end chases faster.

Dunno how long until people realise this:

If the killer wins in the first 5 minutes, the survivors played trash.

If the survivors win in the first 5 minutes (or more), either A) The killer was trash, or B) The survivors genrushed to high hell

There is absolutely nothing in this game that makes you win as killer in under 5 min against a good squad, nothing. As much as you might want to deny it, the survivors were trash.

Marth's Nurse would disagree with you.

And therein lies the problem, he'd be able to see every survivor around him.

Which would make him a much more interesting killer to face. Currently every PH I face likes to proxy and tunnel everyone they can. It's ridiculously boring. Needing to worry if they will cage a survivor. And have you be revealed by Bbq while you're really close would add some excitement and variety to PH.

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1437942#Comment_1437942

Sort of my reasoning for legion..I like intensity in my killer opponents..legion fails at that

Whereas I simply don't want the exact same strategy out of every Legion player. I have had enjoyable Legion matches. Not many. But when you get a Legion that doesn't just try to tunnel everyone down they can be fun.

  • @Orion said:

Nope. Cages are not hooks and if they did this they'd need to do the same for killer perks like BBQ.

I don't see a problem with letting all the hook related perks work with cages. Hell if you made the aura from Bbq trigger 40 meters from where the survivor goes into a cage PH could probably begin a new chase almost immediately.

  • It all depends on what that person means. When I call a killer boring, it's because I don't have enjoyable games against them. By which I mean it doesn't matter if I won or not. That game was still not fun.

Other survivors appreciate a fast heal before the killer tracks them down.

Y'all acting like this does anything to help, though, and it doesn't.

I'm sayin something has to be implemented to deter camping. Feeding or not feeding the camper doesn't matter at this point because one or the other doesn't stop them.

They gave killer Bbq to encourage them to leave the hook. They removed literal face camping. They added emblem penalties for ccamping. They can't do anything else. Regardless of what they add campers are gunna camp. Nothing will stop them from doing it.

  • I don't know what to tell you. The counter to camping is finish the gens and gtfo. Does it make for a boring ass game? Yes. And likely everyone will either depip or safety at best. But your only alternative is feeding the camper.

  • His power level is fine. He unfortunately tends to attract scummy players.

  • I know. But it would have been cool.

  • Damn. I was hoping it would cause items to double.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

"just use DS" when you complain about being tunneled is also pretty common, but somehow that's okay?

"Also using anti-gen rush perks don't slow down gen rushers at all." Damn guess my Freddy build of Pop, Surge, Surveillance, and BBQ doesn't slow down games and all the teams I face are just #########?

Survivors don't need to be nerfed, either they need an actual second objective (because if someone tries to tell me an optional objective is enough I will scream) or killers need to be buffed at base. If you have to camp to "win", you're not a good killer.

A second objective isn't needed. Maps are what need fixed.

  • If you care about rank sure. But those head pops can be really fun.

It's because us killer mains don't have many crutch perks, and when we do use them, we get harrased. It's just annoying survivors have so many, and I think that's why.

The "crutch perks" are used to counter killers playing scummy. They wouldn't be as popular if not for that. But as to you're other point, survivors need to stop bitching about Noed.

The problem is the current meta is genrushing. Its basic math. Early game doesn't exist.

    Look at it this way.

Match starts, survivors and killers typically spawn on opposite sides of the map. As a killer, i immediately run to the other side of the map where survivors spawn ( i have 1000 hours so it's generally easy for me to know exactly where everyone spawned). Depending on the map size, it takes 20-30 seconds to walk to that point. Assuming survivors all spawn apart (which they typically do), its probably going to take them around 10 seconds to find a gen. Let's say it's a small map.

10 seconds to find the first survivor. they run and hold W.

Takes 15 seconds to catch up to them (all they are doing is holding W) I hit them.

Take another 15 seconds to catch up to them (again, just holding w) i down them.

Take a couple of seconds to pick them up watching for flashlight/pallet saves.

Take another 5 or so seconds to walk to a hook.

Another second or 2 to hook and get my bearings.

    Now lets do that math.

    10 seconds + 15 seconds + 20 seconds + 3 seconds + 5 seconds + 2 seconds

    10 + 15 + 15 + 3 + 5 + 2 = 50 seconds

Now, a killers power can slow this down depending on the killer, but survivors also have pallets and such they can go to, which i didn't even address yet.

Now, factor in that walk speed walking to another generator, and you have most likely lost 2-3 gens (if survivors smashed them immediately, which at thousands of hours played they all do).

Now factor in that if the survivor can loop, find a pallet, a window. All of which, if they are unsafe, will add maybe 5 - 10 seconds to a chase (for the mindgame), or add another 20 if it is a safe pallet.

If you do the basic math, you see that early game doesn't exist. There is a reason ruin was strong and used so often, because it was the only perk in the entire game that addressed this problem and slowed down the early game. Corrupt does not address this problem because survivors will often either wait out the timer or just hammer the gens anyway, maybe instead of losing 3, you only lose 2. This is not to say survivors are OP. Once that first hook is down, pressure is getting applied and the game starts to naturally slow down. But until that early game is addressed, i have no options.

This is why i'm a nurse main, because those 2 15 second halves of the chase become 5 seconds and means survivors might not complete 60% of their objective in the time i complete 8% of mine.

Except Ruin didn't make a difference to the kind of survivors you mentioned. They just powered through and hit their skill checks. Or someone ran the totem down and it was gone in the first minute or two of the match. Literally all Ruin did was make me get better at hitting greats.

    @Mister_Holdout said:

Dead Hard is the main reason I think more safe pallets should be replaced with unsafe pallets.

Survivors using DH to reach a safe pallet is very frustrating as killer.

So, you don't like DH. And your plan is to make maps even more unsafe. So that you force survivors to use it to stand a chance?

  • It all depends on who you ask. The meaning will vary from person to person. If I were calling somebody sweaty/a tryhard it would be a Huntress with Iri hatchets an Ebony Mori and Noed. To me it's something like that which screams to me they are desperate to win.

Others will say it because they are mad they lost. Or sometimes because they felt like the other person is taking the game/themselves too seriously.

  • I was going to point out how absurd everything you said was. But you are either trolling or beyond help.

  • Bro you have lost it. DH is easy to bait. It's stupid easy to counter.

  • @Bovinity said:

I dunno, been playing Slinger lately and people seem to clearly react when I'm at a certain distance, even if they can't visually detect me.

Maybe it's just inconsistent, like so many other sound bugs.

In any case, if it's legit, I bet it gets fixed so fast your head will spin. Can't have sound bugs favoring killers.

Last Deathslinger I faced had a TR. I would guess it cuts in and out like all the sound bugs.

  • The punishment is your team doing gens rather than feeding the camper. Depending on how early you're caught they can finish the gens before you die. If all 4 start on separate gens and you put up a minute long chase before going down 3 gens are done by the time you're hooked. The other 2 done before you're dead. Hell they could even have the gates open before you're dead. If they got 30k from camping it's because that team fed them free hooks.

  • They don't have to completely scrap it. All they need to do is tweak the numbers to not feel so bad.

1 … 63 64 65 66 67 … 117
