  • I can't believe somebody has said something so ridiculous that I need to respond this way. But, get good.

  • Play how you want. But don't try the tunneling is needed line. It's a bunch of bullshit.

New Ruin might actually be even worse for new survivors. A lot of time newer players play scared and leave gens and hide after hearing the slightest heartbeat so it could be just as punishing.

True. But you also see alot less Ruin in general. So it still wouldn't be a problem for them.

  • It depends on your goals. Legion is great for giving you BP and has 1 good perk. Spirit is by far the better killer. But her perks are pretty bad.

That actually explains a lot, but i doubt thats the reason for the flood of bad players.

Not by itself. But I feel like it was a big contribution to this problem.

  • Because running/hiding for your life can be pretty tense. I imagine most people who tried this game initially tried it because they were horror fans. Why wouldn't you want to recreate that feeling in a game?

And when I'm in the mood to, or am simply sick of ######### teammates I get my murder on.

You're damn right. Ranking up as survivor is easy and doesn't demonstrate any skills besides holding M1. We can just wait and see how this new matchmaking system will be.

That wasn't quite where I was headed in my reasoning. My thought process was without old Ruin newbie survivors can complete gens not too much slower than an experienced team. As a result you get overall shorter matches. And as we know, shorter matches favor the survivor team. Meaning more escapes and pips. Without needing to develop game sense or any of the other skills needed against good killers.

"They said they changed Ruin because it wasn’t fair on newer players who couldn’t hit skillchecks."

. If anything new players should be able to run around and do a totem, reeasons like "new players miss skill checks" only believed by the gullible.

Ruin had pretty much no effect on experienced players. The only people it harmed were newbies.

  • @TheLastGreatStar said:

They said they changed Ruin because it wasn’t fair on newer players who couldn’t hit skillchecks. PGTW doesn’t make hitting skillchecks more difficult so I can’t see why they’d need to change it.

    Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

  • Except they've already touched the perk once when they buffed it.

  • We don't need a new item. We need to clear out the useless stuff we have clogging our blood webs.

  • I don't mind his power and actually think he needs several buffs. Granted though, his power isn't the most interesting to face.

Yesterday I ran it for one game. I got all 5 checks within the first two full heals. I then never got another healing check the entire game despite running around as a medic the whole time. It was comical.

If you were guranted at least 2 skill checks per heal it would be an okay perk. As it stands, it's trash.

  • No. They're both fine.

  • Honestly if they could increase the rate of triggering skill checks while healing with Autodidact. That would probably be enough to at least make the perk okay. It's main weakness is the ridiculously inconsistent nature of it.

People aren't disagreeing with adding the idea of a per killer base match making.

People are disagreeing with the execution of said idea when it comes down to the survivor's side.

I understand that. But all I'm seeing is them trying to get something they've been complaining about for years worked into this.

just be prepared for a lot more lobby dodging.

If dodging mattered I suppose it would be a cause for concern.

  • Because they don't like the idea of not being able to switch killers to make items useless.

Which is why they aren't asking for them to be unlocked. They just want equal treatment across the board.

They implemented an entire new system to make killers lives easier. And that still isn't enough.

Its the same for killer i like to level up other killer during the time im searching for a game. But lobby locking the survivor will remove the possibility to bring multiple item at the last second. Lets say i try legion and i dont have franklin or lightborn on him and i see a lobby full of item i can just dodge that lobby and find another lobby and the survivor that were there dont lose the priority they had for a game. Now i see you have zero item and you swich last second and i dont have the time to dogde then i will quit during the loading screen like that i dont get the dc penality and my queue are still fast but the survivor who were in this lobby just lost the priority they had for a game and they need to reset the queue time that not healthy for the game

I understand that. But then the MMR won't work if killers can switch at will.

  • I said it in another thread. I oppose the idea of locking survivors for a simple reason. I, and I imagine many others spend our time between games spending BP. Usually on a character we're leveling. Not the one we intend to play. I would however support at least the charters being locked after 30 seconds in lobby.

  • I would oppose this as I can't tell you how many times I was putting BP into a character while waiting on a match. However if the changed it to look the survivor in after 30 seconds I'd be fine with that.

  • At this point seemingly touching a gen is enough.

  • So people complained they couldn't practice new killers without getting wrecked. So they gave each killer a separate rating so you could practice without getting wrecked. And now you're mad they implemented a system so you could practice. There really is no pleasing people.

  • Yeah no. I refuse to burn anything during blood hunts. People almost always play incredibly scummy during them.

  • I definitely don't want the SH screen to stay. I wouldn't mind an option to pick your screen theme though.

  • Welcome to the internet.

    Ps4 Player here

So i mostly play survivor, but i still play my fair amount of killer and all i have to say is that when Playing survivor, i get Dodo Teammates that act like they're rank 20 but they're actually rank 1 (idk how) and when i play killer (im a low rank killer, only rank 13, but i still know my way around the game) all i get is a bunch of toxic SWFs or Red Rank survivors or just one or two survivors who bully me throughout the entire game and i never have those teammates during survivor...

All I'm saying is that this game hates Me :))

Does seem to be the way of things doesn't it? Player killer you get the best possible survivors. Play solo survivor and you get people who can finish a single gen.

I have to strongly disagree, I've lost countless times on that map. Especially the two gens which I mentioned are flatout impossible to prevent from getting repaired, or are you implying that YOU can deal with this insane gen placement?

I have many times. The gallows aren't safe at all. The saloon isn't safe after you break a couple of the walls. The gens are so tightly grouped that a 4 gen strategy is easy to maintain.

  • Wraith and Hag are African. Huntress is Russian. Oni and Spirit are Japanese. We have survivors of nearly every racial background. I'd say the game is already pretty diverse. I have no objection to adding more characters from different backgrounds. But not simply for the sake of diversity.

  • You're kidding right? It's a pretty small map. And heavily killer sided. And you think it needs nerfed more?

so where is the problem then?

i just pointed out that there is a difference between what a 2k is ment to be and what it actually is.

personally id like a mix between the current emblem system and the previous hook / kill counter.

that way, a 2k will be a safetypip, even with bad emblems (if enough hooks were achieved that game, so campers wont safetypip all the time), where as a 4k is a guaranteed pip.

for survivors i'd add something that detects whether they died or survived, so that those who actually made it out will at least safetypip.

thats how i'd like the emblem system to change, personally.

I think we're of the same mindset. We're just saying it differently.

  • They will never do what the OP is suggesting. You can grind for everything but licensed characters. If they made their perks easily accessible for free nobody would buy the Dlc. I would however favor increasing the number of perks in the shrine. Either to 6 or even 8. Then your odds of getting the perks you want increase.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1458352#Comment_1458352

and i merely said that the only reason why i am complaining is because the game treats a 2k as a clear loss.

a depip is not a tie after all, im happy with a Brutal Killer when i 2k thats not at all a problem - yet it doesnt happen a whole lot.

and i havent really seen OP adress the emblem system flaws that lead to the mindset he obviously complains about. maybe i just missed it, but when i look at the headline of this discussion, it becomes rather obvious that he isnt complaining about the emblem system flaws, but rather the mindset of killers that results from those.

in the end, i just pointed out why many killers have this mindset. its not their fault, he cant blame them for seeing a 2k as a loss - that one is entirely on the game.

As I read it at least that was what the OP was saying. That a 2k is meant to be a tie. No they didn't address the emblem system. At least not that I noticed. That was my addition to the thread. And one the needs to be addressed by the devs. Truth be told I'd scrap the emblem system entirely. And move to a system that simply counted hook states. But that's a separate issue.

  • @VonCrow said:

That doesn't make playing Killer easier than ever. Both sides got some nerfs.

Some of the things you mentioned were so strong but there was no dead hard, borrowed time plus decisive strike in 4 survivors at same time.

DH, BT, and DS did exist at those times. They were, with the possible exception of DS, even stronger. By definition anything that nerfs survivors will buff killers. Getting downs is significantly easier now as a result of many of these nerfs. Which in turn makes killer easier to play.

  • @Mister_xD said:

ill stop complaining onnce a 2k will actually be acknowledged as a win by the game.

A 2k isn't meant to be a win. It's meant to be a tie. That's the OP's point. The devs are trying to balance towards the games averaging out as tie games. Which raises the obvious point that the emblem system needs to be adjusted. That way a 2k gives the killer an actual tie. Or at least a 2k played under normal circumstances.

  • Ah another killer is so skillful let's all pat ourselves on the back thread. How refreshing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/172683/farming-off-hooks

I confess that, when I play Killer, I'll down someone just rescued off the hook if I'm able. However, because that kind of thing annoys me just as much when I play Survivor, I'll at least not re-hook them right away and won't impede pickup. I'll just slug them to maintain pressure and go after the unhooker.

I appreciate it's probably frustrating to the Survivor, though it does help maintain pressure by keeping at up to three people off gens for a period of time (the unhooker, the unhookee, and whoever goes for the pickup while I'm after the unhooker). On a slightly more vindictive note, it denies the unhooker any extra points/emblems for safe unhooks so their farm achieves as little as possible.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1454767#Comment_1454767

I've also taken to using Borrowed Time and Babysitter as Survivor to help give anyone I unhook the best chance possible.

That's what I do. I slug them and go for the rescuer. Honestly I wouldn't even bother with the slug. But I want to destroy the idiot rescuers emblem.

  • @Orionbash said:

You'll never get that out of the devs. They're way too killer-sided. The devs nerf the game around top tier survivors but don't do the same for killer.

Hate to break it to you. But the devs aren't killer sided. Nor are they survivor sided. They make changes that they think are in the best interest of the game. You or I may not agree with what they think is best. But they aren't favoring either side.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1456430#Comment_1456430

Never been easier to play? Can somehow develop that line?

Pallet dead zones on every map.

    Insta heals gone.

    Toolboxes gutted.

Infinite loops and near infinite loops gone.

    Balanced Landing nerfed.

Exhaustion perks in general were nerfed.

    Healing time nerfed.

And many more survivor nerfs over the years. Along with various killer buffs. None of which are changes I really disagree with. But they have made killer alot easier than it used to be.

  • Since you already have pop, I'd definitely say Oni.

  • @VonCrow said:

Well you're playing probably one of the worsts killers in the game, in one of the worsts metas for Killers.

I recommend you to try to play for fun and not be obsessed with the results. Chasing as Legion is hard because you have to go without the frenzy and M1 againts loops and jungle gyms. I would recommend to not commit that much into chases and just create chaos in the game and farm some bloodpoints. If you don't care about ranks you'll be fine.

One of the worst metas for killers? Killer has literally never been easier to play.

As for the OP it will take you time to find what works for you with Legion. I'd suggest checking out Otz on YouTube. He made a guide with what he feels is the best builds for every killer. That might help you out. Otherwise just keep practicing and experimenting.

  • This whole thread is just a massive facepalm.

  • So you have no proof they did nothing the whole match? So you assume since you didn't see it they didn't do things. That is just ridiculous reasoning.

  • @Talmeer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1456092#Comment_1456092

Well, every person has things he like, or dislikes. I have never deny it. Even in the days back then, but it is also true, that not every person has the same preferences and in my opinion - a multiplayer game should try to make everyone happy and not crushing one feature down, just because some people scream to loud.

What the new Legion matters... Well there are plenty of tiny possibilities to buff them. Yours are one of them. Even if after that the Legion would still feel like a m1 killer to me imo and that lets a bad taste in my mouth.

The problem is old Legion was simply too oppressive. There was no way to actually have an enjoyable match against Legion back then. They were literally impossible to escape in a chase. As I said, they did over nerf them. But they badly needed a change.

  • @Talmeer said:

To the time where the rework of the Legion had happened, 1-2 bigger streamer (far as I know) were with crocodile tears complaining about the Legion. I guess for publicity reasons, because most of the things they have complain about were either not possible, or not possible in parts.

Also there was a very vocal part of the survivor base, that had cry for nerfs. I have talk a lot with them and they were not willing to learn, to that time.

They had purpose not watch any training video against Legion's abilities and not care to read 1 single tutorial in the forums. Instead they have mostly watch those streamers, that have either show exploiting Legion's, or Legion's with op addons equipped.

To this day! I have not seen one op video of the Legion from this time, that had not fall in one of the categories above.

Those guys had overvoice the Legionplayerbase and the survivors who have stay neutral.

The Legion pre rework was perfect, if the killer player has use no exploits and stayed away from the strong addons.

In my eyes, BHVR had just punish every Legion player for the deeds of a small part of the Killerplayerbase of that time.

Legionplayers were the only ones that got banned for exploiting on a scale like this and we were the only ones that got a nerf... sorry rework like this.

To this day it is a red flag for me and I know many players who see it on the same way.

TL:DR The Legion rework was not a rework. It was a insult right in the face of every honest playing player.

Pre rework Legion was not perfect. They were absolutely miserable to face. Which is not to say I agree with how far they went. From the time I've spent playing Legion I found a few things that I felt needed tweaked.

I think the stun should move down to 3 seconds. The Frenzy power meter should not be depleted by basic attacks. I think you shouldn't lose you power from on missed hit. I feel if a hit was missed it should deplete 50% of the power bar. And if you connect on the second swing you only get 50% of the bar back. Not a complete refill. Lastly I think the power bar should only take 15 seconds to refill at base.

  • It baffles me how many people are looking forward to PC killers wrecking console survivors.

  • I wish there was a training ground. If would be alot easier. What I would suggest in the interim is farming games. Once the survivors realize you aren't trying to kill them they'll usually go along with it.

By doing this you'll get them to not rush through the game. This gives you time to play with the killers power. To help get a feel for it. I've found most survivors are willing to help you with this. You can even message them in the pregame lobby to let them know what you're trying to do.

This is not foolproof. And it won't completely replace the experience you gain from playing a real game. But I do believe it to be a viable training method.
