  • Those are boobs. It's Amanda.

This exactly, killers cried and cried that survivors are always taking the game hostage, and now that's been changed they're upsetti spaghetti that their way of taking the game hostage is also gone.

    LOL "upsetti spaghetti"

  • Rank 1 for both. Probably something like 70/30 for survivor/killer.

  • I had this happen to me exactly once. I found that, for a controller at least, if you hold up on left stick and use the right stick to change the direction you run it's playable. You just can't turn your camera to look at the killer, so you're running blind. That said I don't blame people for quitting it is a very lame bug.

  • It would be cool if there was some sort of silly mini-game everyone could play in the lobby. IDK what it would be, maybe something along the lines of a card game. Something chill and non-competitive just to kill time.

However improving the matchmaking would make this feature obsolete. I would rather than honestly.

  • @MegMain98 "When did I ever say that Nurse was a bad killer on console? I never said she WASN’T the best killer in the game. She is. What I was saying was that she is not AS viable on console as she is on PC because the frame rates on console are ass. I play on console, I know how bad the frame rates are. I’ve even had the game run like it was in stop motion at one time and I just had to stop playing."

She is as viable, that's my point. I know Nurse players that are really good and are ALWAYS very difficult to play against. Also, you play on PS4 yes? Xbox frame rates are bad too but if you have Xbox One X it makes a HUGE difference in frame rates. PC Nurse might ultimately be better, yes, but that doesn't mean console Nurse is that much worse. The differences is very minimal at most, and mostly comes down to the map (Haddonfield and Lery's are generally bad for killer frame rates, but that's it really).

  • Maybe if Clown's bottle could damage gens that would improve his map pressure.

  • Follow the "rule of 1". 1 gen solo, 1 heal solo, 1 safe rescue, 1 minute of chase. Do this and either survive for 9 minutes or escape for a guaranteed safety pip. Now in order to pip, you just need to double up on 2 of these (if you escape you can sometimes get away with doubling up on just 1 though). So if you follow the rule of 1, then do 1 more gen solo and make 1 more safe rescue that should be a pip, even at red ranks.

At purple and red ranks you have to play a bit selfishly to pip. That means hogging gens or saves when you are given the chance. You also have to make sure you escape or live for at least 9 minutes. If you die early at red ranks and only get bronze Unbroken, chances are you won't pip because you didn't have time to do enough in other categories. But if you play for that guaranteed safety pip every game you will see net positive results because you won't be losing pips at least. Just do a bit extra beyond that and it becomes rather easy to pip.

  • @Blueberry

"Like I already said. "You got extremely unlucky then. That doesn't make it the norm."

Dude it's almost EVERY GAME at red ranks. It is indeed the norm for Spirits.

"This is just stupid. They don't go afk and a kill just falls in their lap. Spirit is one of if not the most skillful killer in the game. She is literally completely reliant on mind games and predicting movement. Even WITH PB the survivor is still invisible during phasing. To call that unskillful is just being ignorant."

I main Spirit, I'm aware of the skills needed to play her. PB removes a good chunk of those skills because you can just hunt down survivors and they have no idea you are even around. It does indeed make using her WAY easier. It's like night and day.

"Premonition and Spine Chill completely counter PB entirely and are even just a counter against Spirit in general even without her using PB. Iron Will also hard counters Spirit even when she is using this addon as she is completely reliant on her hearing. On "most" maps you can also see her coming through grass quite easily. Finally, a tiny bit of map awareness goes a very long way. Seeing if someone's currently in chase and know where in the map she is at. I can usually predict when she is probably headed my way."

This still doesn't change the fact you have to play super immersed/cautious to counter Prayer Beads.

Iron Will is trumped by Stridor, I know I use it on my Spirit just for that reason. Also you can hear footsteps and see grass move to track survivors. Iron Will only helps so much.

Premonition is worthless if the Spirit changes targets frequently.

Spine Chill is the only valid counter but guess what? It just pushes you to play immersed, going back to the same issues I've been stating.

Regarding the grass moving because Spirit is phase walking THIS IS FALSE. Spirit does not make grass or corn move while she phase walks. The only thing that gives her away is the crows.

"I seriously find it hard to believe you are playing at red ranks if you are actually serious with this comment. The only people getting yanked off gens with PB are low ranks with potato survivors. I literally can't think of even a single time I have EVER been yanked off a gen at rank 1 much less how rare I've seen it happen to another in any games."

This screenshot was taken 4/25. I have been rank 1 since then, only depipping here and there but then getting my pips back the very next game. I have been playing survivor at rank 1 for at least a year now. The only month I didn't get to rank 1 was March when the survivor ranking was totally screwed, but I still managed to get to rank 3 (almost rank 2) before the reset.

Also I have not ONCE said I have problem being yoinked off a gen. THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE, hence why I question your reading comprehension. My problem with PB is that 1) it reduces the game to one where you just play super cautious the whole time and it's really boring, 2) that Spirit players will go out of their way to try and yoink you, leading to this "I just won't do stuff" mentality for survivors, and 3) it removes a large chunk of the skill require to actually play Spirit because you basically have to assume she is always about to show up. I've been yoinked off a gen MAYBE 3 times ever by PB Spirit.

AGAIN read and understand my actual complaints and stop assuming things about me.

"It's how strong most other killer addons need to be brought up to. It doesn't have any downsides because Spirit already has a high skill floor to perform well to begin with. If you want to argue it should be upgraded to an ultra rare quality then make a post on that because that's something I could actually agree with."

Every strong killer add-on has some sort of drawback. PRAYER BEADS HAVE NO DRAWBACKS. None. There is no punishment for using them. If it reduced your speed or your lunge, or something then I would have less of a problem with it because it would be less abused. But as it stands, any crap tier Spirit can put on Prayer Beads and INSTANTLY get a huge boost at no cost. Hence why I am see a lot of boosted Spirit players at red ranks using nothing but Prayer Beads every game. Then when a good Spirit player uses them, it's literally game breaking. I've used them myself from time to time. Prayer Beads, Stridor, Surveillance. Survivors stand no chance, it's literally EZ mode for me. Which is why when I do use them I don't yoink people, I appear and hit them to start a chase. It's the only way I can play with them where it's braindead simple.

"This is subjective and I, along with many other simply disagree. It does not carry bad Spirits as she already has a high skill floor. It simply makes good Spirits even better. There is no continuing to abuse it as it isn't being abused in its current state to begin with."

Subjective yet I have nearly as many up votes and support comments as I do people defending it (in the killer section of a forum that is very killer biased to begin with). So clearly there are at the very least as many people that feel the same as I do, that Prayer Beads are stupid and need some sort of drawback. Not to mention, you nor anyone else has really presented any valid reason for it to stay the way it is. You are just defending it for the sake of defending it because it's killer. Admit it.

  • TBH it seems overcomplicated and doesn't follow the design of the current MoM (in that it turns it into a totally different perk). I don't think all that is necessary, just create a more strict requirement to get stacks to allow for counter play on killer's end and it would be fine.

    @thesuicidefox

I mean yeah, sure, that's a great solution but the thing is, sometimes you have to hit a survivor. Killers can only hook in one direction so if survivors are smart, they will camp the front of the hook.

However, your idea is really good but sadly, it's going to take a while for it to become a thing.

Then that's a good play on survivor's part. But it allows for counter play from the killer at least, where currently there kind of isn't any.

  • Ranks 1 and 3? I don't get why you pick these two ranks. Like what's the difference?

  • I would get behind this. Have like the last weekend before resets be a x2 BP Bloodhunt.

  • @Blueberry "Was it LITERALLY the exact same Spirit every game? Doubtful. So they aren't using it EVERY game."

Yes it was. If you include playing against the same Spirit multiple times then it would be something like 18 out of the last 20 games. If I could I would name at least 3 Spirit players I regularly run into that ALWAYS have Prayer Beads. ALWAYS.

You are defending a lame and skill-less add-on.

"Also SUBJECTIVE. if you are being forced to play immersed and hiding all game because of this addon anyway, then you are playing it wrong. You don't know how to properly counter the addon and are coming here complaining that the incorrect way you are playing in which you think counters the addon is boring."

Then what are your other options? Because the only thing you can reasonably do is play super cautious all the time, which means playing immersed. If you play in any other way you will get grabbed off gens/totems or you will get smacked with no warning. It's dumb.

Stop defending this BS. It's one of the most powerful add-ons in the game and it has absolutely no drawbacks and is purple rarity. It all adds up to a lame experience. It carries bad Spirit players on top of that. It needs a drawback else killers will continue to abuse it.

  • MoM should require bodyblock/protection hits to trigger. Then reduce the hits from 3 to 2. This allows killers counter play options as they can simply avoid hitting the MoM user while carrying or chasing someone else, but keeps the perk more or less the same as it is now. That would be the most fair solution IMO.

  • @Blueberry said:

This is just a bunch of salt and nonsense. You being a good or bad spirit has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not you use PB. This is just a stupid and salty comment. I run into a PB Spirit MAYBE once every few days if that. It is not an issue. Not to mention that there are multiple counters for her and just PB in general. This is a L2P issue but instead you come here blaming the addon.

Dude literally the last 10 games I've had against a Spirit, at red ranks, 8 have been Prayer Beads. And yes, if you use nothing but PB you are a bad Spirit. FACTS

Again someone that doesn't read. IT'S NOT ABOUT IT BEING HARD TO BEAT. It's about it making the game super extra lame to play. It's not fun to play super immersed and waste a crap ton of time hiding all game, unless you are rank 20.

  • @Dehitay said:

Having all the pools cleanse when they all get used is annoying as hell. Why don't they just do what they did with Hag's traps. Like the hag trap that's been around the longest disappears when another is placed over the limit, why don't they make it to where the pool that's been corrupted the longest gets cleansed when the only clean pool left gets corrupted? That way you don't completely wipe out all the Plague's options and completely open all the survivors' options simultaneously.

The game should tell the killer how many pools are left for survivors to use. A simple QoL thing so you can manage Corrupt a bit better. I always find myself mid-chase about to take a pool and all of a sudden I have Corrupt and all the pool auras disappear. It seems like some maps have more pools than others too, but it's hard to tell how many there really are.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

I mean. It's worth pointing out that in order to get value from prayer beeds you need to somehow know someone's exact location from outside your terror radius, which isn't easy to do.

You would need perks like Surveillance, ToTH and Discordance to make it work. All of which themselves have counters.

It's really not hard. Phase walk up to gen from >24m away, hear/feel survivors on gens, easy grab. Same with totems and heals. You can easily tell where survivors are if you listen. The only grab that's hard to do from phase walk is grabbing out of hook rescues, and only because it's so quick you have to be there that exact moment.

  • @Dwight_Confusion said:

Nope. It's a very rare add on, therefore doesn't appear too often in the bloodweb.

Deal with it. it's a powerful set up. Adapt.

I have 40+ with 30+ Black Wards. If I dump my BP into Spirit I could easily play 100 games in a row with Prayer Beads every time.

Also you lack reading comprehension as I state the problem is it makes the game lame. I adapt but what you have to do to beat this add-on is boring and not fun.

I don't think it will. Killers could just tap 'W' and 'S' keys and stay in the middle of the stairs. Nothing will really change.

But if you press forward against them the only way they can move is backward and eventually they will move back enough you can slip past.

  • No best solution is to break killer's collision if they stand still for more than 20 seconds. If they try to move to avoid this you just press against them and they can only move backwards. Eventually they will move far enough back you can get out.

  • @EqMonkVeeshan said:

Thantaphobia works well at getting the chain going on the cleanses.

Yes this works. I use both Thana and apple which both force survivors to cleanse. Once they start they have to keep doing it, and as long as survivors are using pools she is a good killer.

  • @StarMoral said:

    Spine Chill.

Like I said I don't have a problem countering her it's just not fun. You have to play super immersed which is boring and just draws out the game unnecessarily. Spine Chill just make this problem worse honestly. If I used this she would just never find me, but hiding all game isn't at all fun.

  • @legion_main said:

    DOCTOR WILL REMEMBER THAT

You do that, but the only counter to Calm Spirit as Doc is to use the add-ons that show auras when they tier up, and even then it's only a semi-counter since they don't scream in Madness 3.

  • If apple was made baseline I think that would help her a LOT. The reason no one will cleanse is because it gives her Corrupt, which is crazy OP especially if you are already injured/Broken. If apple was baseline (start 1 pool corrupted) then she could force you to cleanse after you are sick by taking Corrupt. Once survivors start cleansing they have to continue doing it.

  • @ReikoMori said:

It's far too fun to yeet people off gens with your bare hands. That shouldn't change as it is literally the best part of playing spirit. Touching people when they think their safest.

Fun or easy? I think you like it because it's easy. No drawback to using them. Perfect example of a boosted Spirit.

  • @JAWS_BDSM said:

you suggest killing strong killers` addons, be kind to suggest killing some OP survivors` perks, ty.

Because saying X is OP means that Y is not OP. SMH

Topic is Spirit Prayer Beads not survivor perks.

  • @Kurisataru said:

How dare you call ANY good spirit player boosted? Tell that to the ones running Noed, myc, and Haunted Grounds *huff puff*. Prayer beads are awesome. Plus, spirits sound bugs arent fixed so she needs add ons

If you run Prayer Beads every game you're not good, you're boosted.

  • No Mither should give 100% BP earnings across all categories, similar to how Distressing/Prove Thyself/Beast Of Prey/TOTH work. You can't actually earn more than 8k per category, you just earn it at a faster rate. This makes is a BP farming perk and ties well with David's other perk WGLF.

I would also say remove the injured music, allow survivors to ALWAYS fast vault, and make their hook timer count down at something like 80% speed (to discourage camping). That would make NM viable.

  • @Mc_Harty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/459396#Comment_459396

What's stopping the killer from tapping the keys to avoid that then?

In theory if they move then there is a chance they will allow you a chance to slip past on either side. Even if they do it perfectly, if you just press against them the whole time they will only be able to go backwards, eventually getting to a point where they aren't blocking you anymore. Also they have to stay there and do it continuously and perfectly if they intend to keep you trapped. Since killers will just sit there AFK it means that most instances where this occurs will be eliminated as no one will want to actively troll someone that hard. Some people might but at the very least this would solve 99% of hostage situations.

  • Apple should be baseline if anything. Just so then she can force you to cleanse without an add-on.

  • Data is probably skewed though. Plague is a new killer and the data points were taken from 4/1 to 4/7 so chances are it's not an accurate representation for her. I'm sure most players were playing with off meta builds because they were prestiging her and such.

  • @Mc_Harty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/459349#Comment_459349

Honestly, it's dumb that some people are trying to defend this. They need to make the hitboxes smaller for killer.

A better option would be to break killer's collision if they stand still for more than 25 seconds. Then they could do it to wait out BT but can't hold you hostage like this.

  • @Mr_Black said:

You need 13 points to pip at red ranks. 1 iri and 2 golds is only 10 points. He would need another gold to pip.

Key word, “several”. There are VERY few Nurse mains I see on PS4. Of course they’re good because they can work through bad frame rates and have had many hours of practice with Nurse. The reason she is so lowest on both consoles is because to the vast majority of the playerbase, she’s not as viable as PC. No, she isn’t UNPLAYABLE but most players would do better on PC as Nurse.

Console Nurse can be as dominant as PC Nurse but it’s not as easy and people don’t want to struggle playing her due to bad frame rates.

You are making the assumption that just because most Nurse players are bad on console that Nurse is a bad killer on console. No she is still the best killer, it's just most players never put in the time to learn her because it's a bit more difficult than on PC. Majority of Nurse players on Xbox play at low ranks and tend to get bullied by derankers (or are just flat out not good killers in general). That brings down her average kill rate, but it's not proof she is bad, just proof that most players don't care to put in the time to learn how to play her properly.

  • Spirit's not a strategic killer. She's a mind game killer that's a very different thing. Strategy implies that you have to do some sort of setup to catch survivors. Trapper and Hag are strategic killers. A mind game killer is one where you have to out think your opponent in real time, you're not doing any sort of setup for it. Spirit is really the only killer in this category, though Nurse could qualify too (though IMO she is more of a brute force killer like Billy or Huntress).

Plague is a semi-strategic killer because of how you have to properly use Vile and Corrupt. Vile is for controlling space and setting up zoning. You puke on some gens and objects to set up for a survivor getting sick, or to deter survivors from doing stuff. Then you have to use Corrupt at the right times, and you need to plan out which fountains you will and will not take. If you take Corrupt every time its available you end up wasting it and you lose. You have to wait for the right time, usually when you have multiple survivors injured/Broken or a basement hook, stuff like that. She's not strategic to the same degree and Trapper/Hag though.

The problem I see with future strategic killers is that there might not be many more viable abilities. Like what other trap-like power could a killer have that's not just a copy/paste of Trapper/Hag? Maybe if you look hard enough you can find 1 or 2 powers that would work, but I don't see a lot of other ways to make these types of killers.

  • @Arroz said:

    Really?

Well i'll give calm spirit a try

Yes but you have to be doing the gen/totem/heal when you enter Madness 3. If you stop you get locked out like usual.

  • 1) Survivors will just do what they did before SWF... que up and try to get all 4 in the same game. So longer wait times and all that stuff.

    2) Considering how infrequent 4 man squads are, and the rather minuscule difference between escape rates of solo and 4 man squads, why even bother? You're just ######### up the game to account for a very small minority of players. A big change with a rather small payout = not worth development time/resources.

  • They get some things right. Freddy at the bottom, Billy and Spirit near the top. They are WAY off on Hag and Huntress. And LF being top 4? LOL.

More than likely they just Google searched "DBD tier list" and picked the first link then changed a few spots so it's not complete plagiarism. Game journalist are so far out of touch with gaming it is sad.

  • @MegMain98 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/456972#Comment_456972

Yet Nurse is obviously the best killer but has the lowest kill rate on PS4 AND Xbox. Due to Nurse being basically unplayable on console.

This is far from true. Nurse is not unplayable, except on Haddonfield because of frame rates. Trust me I know several TOP TIER Nurse players on Xbox and I face a few of them regularly. They will crush you as hard as any PC Nurse.

The reason Nurse has the lowest kill rate is because she is hard to learn. Most Nurse players on console are complete garbage, which brings down the average. If I could I would give you the names of some Nurse players on Xbox so you could see she is still the strongest killer on console. It's just, due to frame rates and controller sensitivity she is very hard to learn so most players never even come close to that level. But face someone that plays her all the time and you will see she is still the best killer in the game.

  • Spirit isn't that hard to run from, you just have to be extra unpredictable. I feel most people don't like her for the same reason they don't like Freddy, because they don't actually understand what the killer sees when they are invisible.

I main Spirit and I use Stridor, but I still get very smart survivors that know how to juke my phase walk. Most of the time it comes down to backtracking after running or slow vaulting windows. You have to be aware of when she last used phase walk too as a lot of Spirits will fake phase walks at pallets and such. I will admit Prayer Beads are stupid. They need a drawback, specifically just remove the ability to grab out of phase walk and they wouldn't be as bad.

  • I try to avoid it as long as I can, but if others use the fountains or I'm on death hook I will cleanse. Also if killer has an apple and takes Corrupt.

  • I have been running it this month because I can't rely on others to heal me all the time when solo and because I don't want to use up medkits.

  • Iron Will is top tier perk. There is a reason it's top 5 at red ranks according to the dev's data blog post. It makes it a lot easier to juke at jungle gyms and such and let's you hide from the killer while injured. It can make a huge difference in corn too. The only reason I stopped using it was because I swapped to Calm Spirit after just getting completely fed up with Doctors. If you use IW you can usually forgo Self Care and just play injured instead.

    @Theluckyboi said:

The only reason i still run stridor on my nurse (also because it is an underrated perk)

survivors should use it more, it is makes it WAY harder to find them, i cant tell you how many survivors i have gone against could have saved their asses by running this perk

Same here but for Spirit. People have told me only baby Spirit use Stridor, but then when you get a survivor with IW they become REALLY hard to track/find in phase walk. Stridor hard counters IW (basically turns IW3 into IW1) and it makes it impossible to hide from phase walk.

I've also used Stridor on Nurse and Huntress, as I find it helps with corn blindness in particular. As Huntress it's fun to snipe survivors at a distance through corn by tracking them with sound. Probably very scary for them because they don't see me or hear a heartbeat either.

  • What I would like from a season pass is the ability to purchase cosmetics that normally cost Auric Cells with shards instead. Even if the shard cost is higher than usual. Also bonus BP/shard earnings, maybe early access to new content.

That said, I think their store model is in a good spot right now.

  • I would rather just "moderately" reduces duration of Corrupt and remove the Corrupt Purge speed penalty. That would make it really powerful but still fair.
