Tinkerer?
Sounds cool, but it better apply after 50%+ of the gen are done. So risk will make more sense

Hello
Would like to clarify one aspect of the next killer, but game development is not just about making what you want, unfortunately.
For reasons that I will not go into details, the navigating the upside down effect was not possible, so we decided to not use it. Its not because we didn't want to have it...
Thank you!
What was the reason of not showing Demogorgon's ability to smell blood in any of his perks or power?
-
Idk, just run Iron Maiden. I always use that perk on the legion against smartasses who jump in lockers when I use Feral Frenzy (as I cannot pull them out in FF). Nyo-ho
-
It seems to be a sort of a "gap closer" when you feel like survivor is going to make it to the pallet and you know you don't have time to reach him with normal lunge. IMO

I don't receive hate mail. I play with closed chat and closed steam profile.

1) Don`t leave 3 gens nearby for the last
2) Close Portals.
If Democondom chose 3 gens from the start and decided to live there you have only 1 thing to do:

It's more like hillbilly than pig because of forced forward movement.
I think teethface's ability is best explained as a jumping attack. You cannot control your character until he hits an object or lands again.
Ive watched a clip and i think the jump speed is faster than pig. It might work as gap closer/skill shot.
Jump? Can he jump over obstacles like rubbish loops in the pallet heaven?

**Very minor, nonspecific spoilers for Stranger Things ahead, as should be clear from a post discussing the lore of a character from it.**
I'm not a fan of Stranger Things, but I forced myself to sit through it about a month ago when it was glaringly obvious this was the next chapter.
However, with the full announcement of the Demogorgon's power today, putting aside my dislike of the series, the power is just... dull.
We have a creature that comes from another dimension. It's controlled by a god-like being that completely dominates the minds of it's victims and can destroy them at will. The creatures in the dimension seem to spread infection that can grow more of themselves within the bodies of victims.
And it's power? It can dig holes.
Yeah, open and shut holes, oblivious when closing them, it has merits, but it's just such a generic power for a creature with so much potential.
The entire series revolves around the upside-down, a dimension accessed through gateways. The generators could have spawned split between the two dimensions, increasing the time survivors take to find them, confusing them about what choices are right, a more physical separation than Freddy's dreamworld. However the only hint of the upside-down is a blue overlay during certain interactions with basically no impact.
I'm not saying he might not be fun, or strong, (that largely remains to be seen and relies on how the pounce feels to use) I'm just saying for the potential this chapter could have brought, solid meh.
Totally agreed. I think that guy who creates new perks and powers just ran out of ideas and just copies himself.

Slenderman is a made-up creepypasta thing from the Something Awful forums. I was asking if SCP is essentially the same type of thing, like where did it come from originally?
Idk, It all started from "SCP-173". I`m bad at descriptions, so I really advise you to find out yourself.

Nothing against Slenderman. I glanced at the Wikipedia page, and I'm just wondering if SCP has the same sort of roots. It would be pretty different than adding a big movie or TV franchise to the game.
You should check this out for yourself. I have never read any Slenderman Fanfiction besides a few stories with "Evidences".

I gave arguments, if I am to take your opinion into consideration so should you.
It is serious and global change which would affect survivors' gameplay against ALL killers, not to mention that it would make survivors' gameplay fell worse and more hindered.
Also it seems you didn't take aura revealing perks and powers into account. How do you imagine survivors are going to play against doc (especially with notorious "Restraint" type of addons), clown (with increased slowdown addons and his tonic in general), against pig (it would be EXTREMELY hard to dodge her dash attack when they move slower), against ANY addon which puts "Hindered" status effect, against bubba (now dodging his chainsaw is nearly impossible if you are not near window or pallet (which is instantly sold in that case), against Dream Snares, against Hag's trap with her ultra-rare slow addon.
Changing such major aspects of the game without taking many things into consideration results into ruining the game for people.

No.

Look I camp and tunnel too I know how this Works but there's a HUGE difference between camping me a few mins and camping me an entire game.
Btw I did end Up making more than him but still lost a shard. And "well he just made 4k" doesn't seem like a good excuse.
I lost 15mins in matchmakings for this crap.
Unless shards don't mean anything it shouldn`t bother you. And I don't see anything bad in making complete loss better for a killer who isn't good enough to kill survivors. A sort of a second chance. This game doesn't forgive killer's mistake, at least not like it does with every survivor's ones.

SCP-106 fits so damn good in the game.
What if the entity was actually the one who gave him his powers? what if the dimension he travels to is shared with the entity?
Would be neat IMO
HELL YEAH. We already have some similar powers like Freddy's teleport (they way he emerges from a blood pool near gen) and Demogorgon's portals.
BTW, here's my view on what SCP-106 could be: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/51350/scp-106-as-a-killer

@JAWS_BDSM I've emailed the SCP licensing team, asking about this kind of stuff, and I'll be abke to get back to you soon enough :D
Though if I had to take a guess, I'd imagine an OC would be ok, but to get a pre-existing SCP like say 173 then you would need permission from the original author. I'm not sure about the SCP branding tho or their logo.
Thank you.

Maybe, maybe not?
I mean, if someone who made an SCP page were to sue, they could claim any upsurge in players (and thus sales of the base game) after the SCP DLC was added could be attributed to SCP being in the game. Thus, legally, BHVR would be making money off of SCP. Even if the DLC part was free.
Copywrite laws and IP's are very murky.
That is why I think if Devs ever decide to add SCP characters into the game, they would get permission from authors of the chosen SCP and etc

Most the SCP things are...things. A room that devours people. A doll that moves at the speed of thought and kills anyone who blinks. A soda that gives you super-human speed but burns out your body. A marching band that makes other people join in until they die of exhaustion..
It would be neat but..Not too many SCP's are even humanoid.
SCP-049, SCP-106, SCP-082, SCP-1062-RU, SCP-1069-RU, SCP-173 (barely possible), SCP-1249, SCP-027, SCP-062-FR, SCP-058, SCP-1018-RU, SCP-610 and many-many-many others.

@JAWS_BDSM No, they said, no pallets nor windows, they show a "jump/pounce" towards a high ground like the ones survs use to activate balanced landing in the coldwinds farm
so he can leap over low loops? like heaps of rubbish in the palletheaven?
-
Hostage Doc laugh intensifies
-
Wait, what do you mean by "you can jump on a higher ground"? can you jump over pallets or low loops?
-
From what I saw he seems to be around bottom mid/upper low. Charged attack seems to be weak in loops, because of the slowdown and inability to control it.

Starting to become aggravating how many killers have half or more of their power in the hands of survivors
Because killers need to be fun not strong (c) guesswho
They better make him at least not weaker than GF.

@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
Slow limited teleport that you can place where you want, but Survivors (again) have control over you power and can destroy it / avoid it.
Honestly, sounds like worse Hag to me lol.
The only new thing is that dash attack, idk what to think about that. We will have to see it on PTB.
So far, I don't find this Killer no way near good, may not even mid tier lol.
At least his perks seems pretty good.
Yeah, Just going to level him up to lvl 40 for perks and forget if he turns out to be bad. But we need to wait and see.

I'm actually quite excited for the lunge. We're finally getting a killer who's power can help down a survivor that doesn't rely on them being still. Last time we got something like this was Spirit. I'm very excited to see how skillful the lunge can be.
I think it's comparable with "Bull's charge". You prepare an attack and them launch forward without being able to change your direction after you release it. The main question is if he gets slowed down while charging it. I hope not.

Play in green ranks. Seriously though, no Ruin = carte blanche for survivors to safe drop pallet after pallet because the gens will be done before the lack of resources can possibly be felt or cause any damage.
"Play in green ranks" great, thanks for useful advise, too bad I`m rank 1 killer, who rarely plays "TOP 3" killers because they are extremely boring.
-
Big chance. I hope his map will also have "special" starting music like The Shape's map?
-
Ok, so how do you think killers (especially those without good map pressure like GF or Clown) are supposed to counter genrush without ruin?
-
The only thing I wish is that The Demogorgon's power will not be trash and he will actually be a viable killer for high ranks and his addons are not useless ones, which only hinder him or only 2-3 are useful (ghostface, plague, pig).
And yeah, Dart`s skin, PLEEAEAAAAEAEAESE

Idea's are solid expect for a couple in the Upside Down.
- Survivors unable to heal in the Upside down and dying faster are way too powerful. Neither of these should be implemented. Sorry.
- Either Survivors are hindered, or the Demogorgon is faster, but only by 5%. Both at the same time, or 10% is too fast.
Agree, it is too powerful,
- I just wanted to show that the Upside-Down world is toxic for humans and The Demogorgon is way more powerful in the Upside-Down
- Faster dying on hooks is to encourage survivors to enter the Upside-Down, but it seems that is really too much.
I think I will remove it from the original post, thank you for you opinion.
-
ye, why not. but they should be balanced, bc they are probably going to make killer lose vision of a survivor for seconds
-
I just pray he will either have powerful map pressure&slowing game tool or his power will have 2-3 separate parts and he will have decent chasing tool and map pressure.

Plague's power is literally fine lol, people heavily overreact over that one. From these pictures, looks like demogorgon can create upsidedown tunnels, that he can possibly use to travel around. It also looks like survivors can either also go through them, or destroy them.
the main question is "what upside-downs servs for".
-
I heard the stream is happening today

@Janick said:
I can confirm and appease your fear by saying that the Demogorgon power is very far away from Freddy 1.0.
When can we learn more about his power? Is there going to be a devs` stream leaking his power&perks like it happened with GhostFace?

I'd hate to hijack this whole thread with all this Alien™ talk but it's entirely possible.
The Xenomorph is from space not an entirely different dimension. It's simple lorewise but it can tie in with dbd lore with the entity being queen-like and the alien being a creation of it.
Toss in the Michael fastbender Android and you got a massive amount of options to go with it.
So many instalments of Alien ™ so I would imagine you can just pick and choose one and do what you like with it.
Whether you want Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus or Ripley herself from the earlier ones then there's always alternatives if it does get complicated.
I would actually enjoy seeing alien getting ghostface treatment - using his overall image and adding more links to the entity like burning scars or less human-like body.

-get auric sells
-buy characters you like

I think we are going to have something similar but WAY more different in sense of gameplay. Like same concept but another gameplay.

Alien chapter when
Alien is too OP imo. I would rather encounter Demigorgon than that horrible creature. From films Aliens seem to be extremely fast when they were actually chasing their victim, not to mention the ability to freely move on walls and ceilings. Their claws, tail and teeth do horrible damage (other killers' weapons are nothing compared to Alien's claws, which are able to SHRED STEEL). Not to mention he doesn't have eyes and thus is invulnerable to flashlights. Devs would have to nerf him to the ground so survivors would stand a chance
