Flashlight at every pallet or bodyblock even once = no mercy. OIherwise, if you don't BM, I'll go easy on you.
Other than shirtless David. He is going to be tunneled. Don't like cocky survivors.

Yes, let's complain about winning
Did you even read it? This is not about winning or losing. It's about SBMM.

People seem to be skating right past that one.
Seriously, is a 4k not enough anymore or something?
You entirely missed the point. Not sure if you even read it. I've been playing for over 2 years now. But this was a new account test playing second match ever. Killer with total of 10 minutes experience would get 0k against those survivors.

and the sad part is, the Killers at the top start to recognize the same names as the Survivors at the top, and some of the top Survivors SWF use team names in brackets, so it becomes easy to dodge.
I dodge SWF, unless I play strong killers. Sometimes I wonder who is the poor soul that gets my dodges.

A lot of people say things like "grade doesn't mean anything" or something similar earlier about the purple perks.
But the thing about grade is, and even moreso having a wide array of tier 3 perks, is that they are correlated positively with playtime, and experience/playtime is the strongest corollary of skill.
So while not airtight by any means, these things do mean something. If you go against a team or player who has unlockable tier 3 perks, odds are good that said player is not a potato, at the very least.
Yeah, I doubt anyone with teachables has as little experience and skill as someone playing second match ever.

The purpose of the system is completely defeated when it ignores itself in favor of queue times. Then you just end up with terrible matches. Either use SBMM or don't, but trying to slice it both ways between queue times and MMR has led to awful games more often than not for outlier players.
True, what's the point to have quick game at the expense of fun.

Na, as an actual new player, the worst part of the game is the forum. I have played maybe 4 games as a survivor, and it's not really my thing (being dependent on others to carry their weight-even as a new player I can see walls, and avoid running into them-not so common apparently). So, I've put my time into killers which has been awesome. I'm very satisfied with terrorizing the survivors, and if that results in 1 kill, that's enough for me. For the record, my first game was as nurse, and resulted in a 4k (the last 4k I've had as nurse btw). Then, I found huntress. Fantastic gameplay since I mailed Hanzo in overwatch. I know if I win a game easily, the next will probably be harder. If I get stomped, and they all escape, then I'll play another where it is either a lot more even, or I stomp. I probably should've started this with: I'm an adult. So, all of the toxicity talk and whining is completely lost on me. I'm still having a great time playing.
You say that the worst part of the game is forum, yet you still come here. Go figure...

How do you derank though mmr wise? It's too late since tomorrow it will be reset
That's grade reset. I'm talking about MMR. Just let everyone leave 20 games in a row and you will have easy matches.
-
Derank to get easier matches and then you will get your grade 1 if it's so important to you.
Edit: By "derank" I meant "deMMR"

@Yankus said:
What happens is someone with high MMR sees the 4 man SWF and dodges the lobby because who can blame then. After a killer leaves a lobby the game will put ANY MMR into that lobby so the SWF doesn't have to wait. This includes killers who might literally be playing their first match ever. Also congrats on the 4k, a good killer can easily kill non sweaty SWFs even without perks. Just because they have all level 3 perks doesn't mean they are good. I play against my GF and her SWF in KYF and even when they run the most meta builds I still stomp on them as legion with no perks or addons. A lot of SWFs are a lot more casual than you think.
Do you have a source for your knowledge how SBMM is supposed to work?
In any case, my point is that it's obviously not working well for new players at all. There is nothing non sweaty about those perks. And they did try to play sweaty actually, but made mistake not to genrush.

I'm not feeling bad for the killers and I'm not saying that survivors are bad and mean it just feels boring to play like every game is the same
"Then when a new chapter reales its really fun for a couple of days until the killer gets nurffed or the survivors find out how to counter the killer."
"fun for a couple of days until the killer gets nurffed" followed by "I'm not feeling bad for the killers"
"fun for a couple of days until ... survivors find out how to counter the killer" followed by "I'm not saying that survivors are bad"
you are not making any sense.
-
I was going to upvote you based on title... but... you are not talking about game getting stale, you are just complaining "killer weak, survivors bad". Those are completely different things. Yes, game is stale, but that has nothing to do with "bad mean survivors" and "poor killers"

Cheaters have no confidence in their skills and don't believe they can improve. They cheat because it's the only way for them to be in a game with their betters.
I wonder if the surge has anything to do with the "everybody gets a prize" mentality.
It must be a shock to finally realize the world doesn't work that way.
How pissed they must be if the ever understand their growth has been sabotaged by people not caring enough or too delusional to push the children in their care to be the best they can be.
Or it could be because SBMM is utterly broken. When people are new at the game, they get dominated with barely any chance, so they decide to cheat.

You have such high rate of escapes as solo against Pinhead? Holy crap! He is my most hated killer in solo :[

My killer queues have been instant for a month and I was getting a hodgepodge of survivor players during peak hours. Now it's peak hours and I'm waiting 3+ minutes for a killer game and I'm getting nothing but major league gaming squads. It's ######### awful. Played Pig for the tome and I got 1 hook and 10k points against a Team Oracle. I'm also noticing that it's taking longer to initiate a chase and chase is dropping earlier. It feels different like something is broken. This update sucked
I'm encountering even worse today. Just had a hacker duo. One kept running with permanent adrenaline and the other one has unlimited unbreakable. At least they didn't fly around the map.

Yep, body blocks of any kind means tunneling is fair game, according to my rulebook. Thanks for the laugh.

This is not a game design fault. This is matchmaking fault. I win at least 80% of my games as killer and feel sorry for baby survs. I should win only 50% if SBMM was working correctly. If you lose too much, it's because you are baby killer and matchmaking fails at matching you with baby survivors.
-
Yes, I find killer as relaxing as I want it to be, because it's all under my control.
Solo survivor on the other is very stressful to me. Good think I only have to tolerate it for rift challenges.

It's low skill survivors who suffers most even with all those extremely survivor sided nature of this game, and there is SO MANY thanks to their popularity.
Undeniably. Low skill anyone is suffering in this game, thanks to nonfunctioning SBMM.

Ive switched to playing killer a lot more since i changed to PC. I find killer im getting mostly 4k or 3k. Occasionally destroyed and only a couple hooks.
The biggest problem with matchmaking is it puts too much weight on my kills as a whole so when i pick a new killer my games are against fairly good players and i dont get a chance to even practice or play much while im trying to learn their abilities.
I think its harder to win consistently as survivor (mostly playing as a duo or 3), but depends mostly on RNG and how the killer decides to play.
One thing ive noticed is if im playing killer i can often change the entire way a game is playing by deciding to slug, proxy camp etc. Whereas for survivor youre forced into trying to fit around that which is a lot harder.
Saying that, killer is still the more stressful of the roles as youre not in a team so i do get it more from both sides now to be fair.
I'm the opposite. I find killer relaxing, because I keep in mind a few important factors:
- I control how match goes, because I'm 100% of my team
- I get to play to the end of it.
- Statistically speaking, I'm probably going to win. (I win at least 3/4 of my matches)
As survivor I find it very stressful, therefore only play it for rift challenges:
- Not much in my control as I'm only 25% of team.
- I may get tunneled out quickly or left on hook or be ignored by killer, so I have no interesting gameplay (hanging on hook or M1 on gens is waste of time to me) to show for wasting time waiting for match.
- Statistically speaking, I'm probably going to lose. (I lose at least 3/4 of my matches)

No problem.
For example, using a population size of 62,074 (last 30 days steam charts) and a generous 90% confidence level with a 5% margin of error you’d need a sample size of approximately 270, which is still on the low side considering we are dealing with a video game and not a survey.
Going for the minimum sample size of 100 is not going to give you an accurate result with the number of variables involved.
A goal closer to the maximum recommended sample size of 10% will give you more accurate results.
6,207.4 of course is too high, so you’d need to cap it out at 1000, which is 10 times more than the sample size you’re currently using.
Edit: I just want to add that I think it’s great you’re doing your own research/testing and I know it takes a long time, but if you want a reliable degree of accuracy, a larger sample size is required.
I see where there is a misunderstanding now. You might be confusing total population of players with total number of games played by individual player.
The population size would be relevant if I was trying to determine if matchmaking works for everybody. In that case we would need 10% of all players to take stats over multiple games each. But again, in this case people would not need to record more than 100 games each. But yes, we would need 10% of 62k people to participate for excellent results or 1000 for good results.
However, this is not what I'm determining from my stats. I'm determining that SBMM doesn't work for me specifically (as opposed to other people), therefore only the number of games that I played is relevant.
Just to make it clear: the conclusion that I'm drawing is that there is a category of people for whom SBMM doesn't work. This doesn't mean that it doesn't work for everybody, which is where total population size would become relevant.

Technically card counting isn’t gambling. That’s interesting though.
No, I didn’t know that.
Did you know that the oceans of the world contain approximately 20 million tons of gold (that’s $771 Trillion Worth of Gold)
Not on the ocean floor—in the water itself, in tiny particles of approximately 13 billionths of a gram per litre.
Ok, fine, card counting... But what does it have to do with DBD? Is there a new killer coming out that requires you to know how to count cards? Or are we getting a new map with ocean where side objective is to collect gold?
-
@fulltonon said:
Oh btw SBMM is proven by devs to NOT work, since there is extreme shortage of killers in most region, killers tend to throw onto already existing lobby... which can have excessively higher or lower MMR thanks to "priority".
Devs said that? When? Care to post a link?
Don't get me wrong, I believe you, but I just want to read or hear the exact words myself.
-
@El_Gingero said:
In Blackjack, a card counter can still lose their bankroll despite a 0.01% risk of ruin.
Well, if we are going to provide random gambling info unrelated to DBD, I can add one too:
The opposite sides of a die will always add up to seven. If you take a look, you'll see that one and six are on opposite sides of the cube (1+6=7), as are two and five (2+5=7), and three and four (3+4=7).
And did you know cats can't taste sweet things because of a genetic defect?
-
Don't worry. As a grade 1 killer, I've get your brown/silver grade survivors all the time and matches are over with 1 or 2 gens done. So it all averages out... Don't you know, according to BHVR, it's the average that matters 🤣
-
It doesn't matter how MMR is calculated if the matching based on that MMR doesn't work. As killer main, during certain hours of day, I get survivors with 10 times less hours than me, who don't have any understanding of what looping is or capability to look behind and then the match is over with 1 or 2 gens done. Boring to me, frustrating to them. But time to match obviously takes precedence over proper SBMM.

I think you're reading into the intentions of OP far too much.
OP recorded some stats, over his last 100 games, based on those statistics and then the comparison between them and someone else's statistics, he made his conclusion. Is it perfect? no, but you will never get a perfect conclusion on statistics that have far too many variables to begin with. So trying to reduce the argument down to that, is pretty redundant
Thank you. I'm glad we have some level headed people on these forums :)

@OpenX said:
Grades are not correlated to SBMM. And your SBMM does not correlate to skill.
And they are so salty probably cause killers like me are out there BMing the crap out of them while playing basement bubba and other assorted toxic builds 24/7.
Playing nice with survivors? Lol. Yeah, I did that like 4 years ago. Not worth the effort, never was never will be. I only play nice as killer if I want to get more bloodpoints. Otherwise, killing someone first hook is peak efficiency and I will do it every time I can.
If I was learning killer id probably disable the endgame chat and slap on NOED tbh. You will get 1 gg for every 10-20+ salty survivors. And you will get a person who compliments you for playing well as killer maybe 1 in 300 games. Endgame chat is almost purely negative as the killer, I only leave it on if I wanna hear some crybabies whine about getting camped.
So you are admitting that you are being toxic and then saying you only get compliments 1 in 300 games? Any chance you might see a connection here? I play like a decent human being and get complements all the time and my average kill ratio is over 3 without NOED or camping :) All you need is to git gud :) Imagine that! Of course, if you have no skill, than do whatever floats your boat :)
-
Pinhead has highest kill ratio. Is it fun knowing in advance that you are at a disadvantage?
