    Stop. F'ing. Hiding

You can do anything else. Go unhook something. Go do bones. Go do gens. Run in front of the killer and yell NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo when they're about to hit someone else.

    Just...do something. Anything. Please.

But i do all of that and hide if i can...why is hidding wrong, if you do bones, and do gens, and unhook, and even take protection hits? Because it all depends on the situation, and if the killer comes to my gen, i will hide, until he either found me or leaves again. Why is that bad exactly?

@Topic Gens. Latley, i get more teammates that are not gen allergics, and i escape most of the time easy. Nice i reached that mmr bracket.

can't believe people think you can reasonably cleanse 5 totems per game in solo q lmao

and that is why you fail, just to quote Yoda.

Because i currently prestiging my chars i hadn´t before, i run a farm-build on survivor where i get between 28 and 32k base in most matches, and you need to find totems to do that anyway (unless you just rebless everything with a boon), so i do 5 totems almost every game, and i dont even need a perk for that.

  • I´ll take the dredge over the current version of legion any day, if we talk about boring.

  • And thus, you are the problem, because you just make this work in the first place.

  • Ähm no. I do have the right while keeping my profile private. The thing is, you have the same right and can also keep your profile private if you dont like it.

The reason i have a private profile is that i, when i started this game 4 years ago, i used the same name for my online-persona, meaning i used the same name in games, forums etc (it was not common, and i have a gaming history back to 1998, there are transcpits of matches i played in starcraft around the internet).

When i started this game, a very salty killer started to stalk said online persona, registering in forums i am member of and sending me messages, and entering other games i played to find me (and if possible backstab me).

I learned, and since then, i use a different name for every forum, game, or whatever. And yet, i still have the right to comment in any profile that allows it.

Yeah ofc i want free dc it would be best cos there are facecamping bubbas and starstruck nurses and other bs like that. i que in hopes of finding normal match and if i dont get one i want out of it.

Well, you are doing it wrong. If you leave as soon as you could against facecampers, then you just validate them, because you actually make their tactic work. Because of you dying faster, they can just go for another one, and 4k.

If you would instead struggle as long as you can, while your team genrushes, this gamestyle would get both boring for the killer, because noone comes for unhooks, as well as ineffective, because 3 people just leave.

Basicly, you leaving the game early makes people facecamp you.

You didn't get the gens done.

The killer played well enough to kill the other 3.

You didn't find the hatch before the killer.

The killer played well enough to find the hatch first.

You still want the odds to be changed to be in your favour rather than that of the more skilled player in the match on your third chance to survive.

One could make the argument that if the killer is that more skilled than the survivors, he shouldnt have played vs them in the first place and is only carried by bad matchmaking, you know.

  • @DEMONANCE said:

wait for him to teleport to a nearby locker then it'll take a bit to recharge if he's not in nightfall giving you enough time. also try the 20% strat if you manage to open a gate to 20% just before the first light is on and then wait for the killer to check it you can escape most of the time.

Or do the 21% trick that works for me. You just open the gate to the point where the light turns on, then you go to the other gate, while the killer searches around the first gate for you.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

Gate escapes should be zero MMR points for the survivor if all the generators aren’t done yet.

The reason is because hatch escapes are already zero MMR points for the survivor, and if a survivor escapes through the gates before all the generators are done, they were only able to get through the gate because the killer found and closed the hatch. This means that gate escape was a 2nd chance escape, just like the hatch, and shouldn’t be counted as an MMR win for the survivor.

By the same logic, kills shouldnt count before (2 + number of dead survivors )gens are done. If a killer manages to kill one or multiple survivors before they managed to do a decent amount of gens, it means matchmaking gave him an easy match against unskilled survivors, and that shouldnt count as an mmr win.

  • Hmm, i have to say, i disagree. Becaue that teammates that rush to the hook just to unhook in front of the killer to then botch a flashlight save but never touch a single gen are the ones that get me killed. In most games, where people do gens, its a win for the survivors, at least in my games. However, never coming to a hook rescue is very rare in my games, usually more than one peopel rush to it to get those points.

Hiding in the basement doing nothing is a different thing entirely.

its a vicious cycle caused by the game design.

Survs do gens as fast as can to get out

Killers camp and tunnel to combat having 3 gens done by 2nd chase.

    repeat

However, i think that is a misconception by killers.

When i play killer, and i lose 3 gens while just having that one hook, i do feel the same. But there are plenty of games where i started snowballing then and got a 4k out of it still, without camping and tunneling.

To me, it all depends on personal skill. Camping and tunneling is something you do if you are outskilled by the survivors (at least thats what i do sometimes). If i feel that i have a fair game (or even have the advantage, that happens too) i can play the game how i think it is intended to be played.

I think the problem is that killers are often matched against survivors at a higher skill level (both due to a lack of killers, as well as having inflated their kills and ratings by camping and tunneling).

But some killers go for the easy route anyway, even if at the same skill level.

But they rework perks and look into the reason the perks are used, so who knows whats up in the future.

  • I play solo survivor when i play survivor. Half the games are with killers that hard tunnel and/or camp.

It just takes so long to learn, so now if i go into a game i asume its a tunneler/camper and the best way to punish that is genrushing. Seems like a lot of other surivivors feel the same.

And i only wait at the exit gate to make sure noone needs help. When i know all are save, i leave.

  • I had a survivor game where a totem spawned on that place (or onother car, and next to the next car was another totem...both were dull, yet...

also, i had 3 gens spawn on that map near the middle, with no los-breaker between them. ig you stood near one, you could clearly see the other ones, and nowhere to hide as survivor. That road is the road to hell.

  • I had a similar thing. i was hunted by Pinhead, and he hit me while i was vaulting. I was stuck there for about 30 seconds, and after that was standing injured behind that vault, but the pinhead never moved again the whole game. It was also the first chase, so maybe his game just crashed.

  • Depends on the dc. If its an dc because i found and downed someone early, the game loss is on them, and i dont care.

However, if it is a dc that i think is for real, then i play the game normaly, with exceptions: i will never hook someone more than twice (unless they message me they want to die with morse code, aka teabagging), and always leave the hook early so people unhook even if they are scared.

After that, i only slugg. Then, if i got the whole team down, (or if someone is close to bleeding out), then i will just pick them up, finish the gens (since chases, hooks and heals have been real, it is already farmed) and let everyone go.

  • i thought escapes do? So i really thought the hatch would. If i am mistaken, look for an swf to play for some time.

  • The last games as solo survivor for me were very good. Maybe it was just a streak of luck, but i ended up mostly with survivors that are not gen allergics and dont suicide all the time. Yes, it still happens, but at the moments its more like 10% instead of 50% of games. If i am really lucky, this is just mmr working for me.

  • clairvoyance and a key, and dont get found first. Clairvoyance alone with get you the hatch if the killer is not slugging, and if he is, dont fall for it.

The last few dozen games for me tend to be filled with survivors on my own level of competence (by which i basicly mean they actually do gens, i dont ask for much), which means most of the time 2-3 survivors escape, highly depending on the killer playstyle.

IF you reach that point, solo queue is what it should be, in my opinion. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but only a few games are frustrating because your teammates suck or the killer tunnels/camps heavily.

  • For me, its blight, because in the right hands he is just too good

Legion, because he prolongs games greatly, becasue a lot of survivors don´t know how to play against him, also i find his chase-musik annoying.

and bubba, the lord of camping

  • @BenOfMilam said:

The issue is honestly gen speeds. I say that as a killer main that hates slowdown perks because of how boring they are and I hardly use them, and I also think complaining about gen rush is cringe.

It takes 80 seconds to do a single generator, and lets say it takes 20 seconds to find a second generator after you finish one. So 100 seconds per generator.

If only one survivor, I repeat, only ONE survivor out of the four survivors is doing gens and the killer is playing for 12 hooks, the killer has around 40 seconds per hook before the gens are completed. One survivor being chased, one on hook, one going for unhook, on on gens.

If two survivors are doing gens, the killer has 20 seconds per hook. Two on gens, one in chase, one hovering for unhook or flashy save.

If three survivors are on gens at all times, the killer has only 14 seconds per hook before the gens are finished. One survivor in chase, three on gens. The hooked survivor unhooks himself with Slippery Meat or Deliverance.

So the most efficient way to get multiple hooks quickly and put a dent in the survivor's gen efficiency is to just tunnel a survivor off hook. Face camping is a great way to throw the game, but tactically camping someone to second stage to punish a late unhook is a good play. Camping to force a 1 for 1 is also a good move.

Camping and tunneling is more an answer to how DbD works as a game. You do not have time to run around and chase every survivor, you need to kill them ASAP or they have a good chance to escape.

But even if you had that time, wouldnt it even be better to camp and tunnel then? Because you still got one survivor out, but the gen progress hasnt punished you so hard for it anymore. So why would it change anything if its still the better option?

Because if the only way the killer doesnt camp or tunnel is to make the game so he 4ks anyway, i dont think the game has much time to go, and on every other scenario its a better option.

  • But why dont you discuss it there, then, because then the people saying this can answer? Why go to another plattform to ask about something someone on that plattform said? Unless they use both, you wont get an answer, right? Because everyone else can just guess.

FoV does nothing to affect darkness and hiding in corners; unless you are talking about crouching at the killers feet where they can’t see you being almost ‘inside’ them because of the unnaturally small FoV, which should not be a thing.

Survivors already have a 3rd person camera that can see over some loops the killer cannot, and even around corners without the killer being able to see you no matter how much the FoV is increased.

FoV is a basic QoL option that most first person games have and should not require the use of a perk slot.

People used to use the same ridiculous argument against adding basic colourblind accessibility options because in their mind it provided too much of an advantage. It’s ridiculous and is just bitterness towards anything that might help ‘the other side’ out without feeling ‘your side’ got something in return. This isn’t us vs them it’s basic QoL that shouldn’t be tied to a perk.

But i play both sides, so why should i use an us vs them argument? It is about game balance and stealth option, not us vs them.

Also, you said: "Brightness settings and options to adjust aura and scratch mark visibility should be basic options and not require use of filters or manual adjusting if you tv/monitor for this one game specifically."

Thats a quote from you, and THAT would affect darkness and hiding in corners, would it? I actually read your whole post, so i took the freedom to refer to what you claimed.

So, you brought no argument to change my opinion, other than "other games (that are functional and balncewise completly different) have that option, and i dont care for balance that doesnt affect me".

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2972038#Comment_2972038

I’m not suggesting punishing SWF, but pointing out that may it provides a clear advantage to the players who use it with 3rd party comms over solo and that is acceptable.

So why are you against adding basic FoV options to the game instead of requiring a perk because that provides a small advantage?

FoV is what this thread is discussing and my examples of accepted advantages not limited to just SWF using 3rd party comms, which is the only one you bring up; is to show how something providing an advantage is not a good reason to keep certain things out the game or punish for their use even though they are not in the game.

FoV should be a basic option and not tied to a perk slot.

Anti aliasing and removing FPS cap should be a basic option and not require editing the ini files.

Brightness settings and options to adjust aura and scratch mark visibility should be basic options and not require use of filters or manual adjusting if you tv/monitor for this one game specifically.

The only argument I’m seeing against adding FoV options is it provides an advantage; which all these other things do and are acceptable.

You don’t think these things should be punished so why do you think a small FoV increase for QoL should be punished by requiring a perk slot?

So, how do you propose to enable stealth, if there are no dark corners to hide, and the fov is wide enough so noone goes unnoticed? Stealth is a factor and should be, so how would you make it still viable? Turning the survivor invisible?

I know a lot of players dont like the stealth-aspect of the games, but for others its the reason to play, and you cant just ignore them because their playstyle doesnt suit yours.

    @Brimp said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2971661#Comment_2971661

Yeah I find the whole "well this provides an advantage" to be extremely stupid when every other modern game has said options and people will adjust them to how they want to play. I never really heard people complaining about FOV in a game like CoD since if they really wanted that they could just turn it up themselves.

But in CoD, all players can use that option, and all players get the same advantage out of it. That is not true for DBD, where one side gets an advantage and another does not.

So if killers get a fov-slider, survivors get a distance slider so they can look over obstacles like stretched res?

If you ask for a real ingame advantage, you should offer something to balance it. At least thats my opinion.

  • @TheDarkTyrant said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2965057#Comment_2965057

Yeah it should be player choice. And not be forced into perks. No other game I've played does this. If people want to play with a more restricting FOV because they like it, that's on them. If others want to see more then they should be allowed to without using 1 of 4 precious perk slots.

So, and how do you balance around the hidding survivor you are seeing that you are not supposed to see? Should strechted resolution that makes it impossible for killers to mindgame be a basic option for survivors, too?

Visuals are a big part of the game, because stealth is an option, thats the way the game is designed. Killers have a limited pov because surviovrs should be able to juke them. Flashing lights are there to distract you from a hidding survivor, and dark spots are there to cover them.

But you know what, since its about motion sickness...just make a slider for it. For every % you increase the killers pov, its balanced by reducing the killers speed by 1%. What the killer gains vs. stealth, he just looses in chase potential. Fair deal.

  • Well, i belive there is one even dumber complain. If the killer hooks someone, sees with bbq a survivor at the other end of the map, go to the other side, engage the survivor there in a chase, and he runs the killer back all the way to the hook...and then complain about camping and tunneling. I think thats even worse.

Afk, dc, suicide on hook, griefing their own teammates, wanting to lower their rank for easier matchmaking? Lots of reasons killer data is so warped

When the game is designed for escapes anyway, as was the claim, how much easier could it become? Why cd or hook suicide, when the game is basicly won from the beginning? While the reasons are good for explaining warped killer data, they dont make any sense with the original statement.

  • @Tryharder said:

Good at what exactly? Shilling for a dead game lol. Of course it’s all about survivors, they’re the majority= more money. Gotta make sure the 10 year olds can guarantee escape onryo and other weak m1 killers so they can steal mommy wallet

Can you explain that statement? because even weak m1 killers have killrates above 50%, so how is it all about survivors and garanteed escapes? Shouldn´t the kill rate then be at 0%? Please, add the facts about killrates and escape rates, and then explain it to me, because in my understanding your statement doesnt fit the facts. But maybe i am wrong.

  • @Chiky said:

I don't really get it. Why survivors dont have a 1st person POV while the killer does? It would be WAY better that way.

Also, why dont survivors have weapons while the killer does? It would be WAY better that way. And a way different game.

The question always is: better for whom?

  • @Juicyman said:

At least DCing as Killer doesn't ruin the game, it just ends the game (and although I'm guilty of just quitting as Killer it's not something I advocate). But had a scenario last night that just blew my mind and made me question a few things.

Was on a Killer with no mobility options but spawned in with Lethal Pursuer. Watched the four survivors at the other side of the map do a little t-bag meet n greet, one ran off, two continued to dance until my perk almost finished with one on gen. I went straight to that corner but by the time I had reached the tile (not even the survivors) the generator was already complete.

"Get better" was what I as told in response to DCing, so it's almost like I'm being told to play Blight and Nurse.

yes, even killer dc´s ruin games. Either because of bp-offerings, or because of survivor challenges. Yes, not every killer dc ruins a game, but they can potentially do that just like survivors dcing.

  • @UnknownKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2966479#Comment_2966479

    Well the thing is

I see much more surv that dc cuz they are the first downed than killers that dc cuz ruin is gone.

Thats not surprising, since a killer those game turned bad can always resort to camp and tunnel the one guy he get hold of, while a survivor, most likley solo, has no alternative action if he is being camped and tunneled. However, i never understood the "first down-dc" anyway.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/325006/can-you-please-give-players-the-option-to-pick-aura-colors

I cannot see red gen auras or hooked survivor auras at all on corn maps being colourblind; the colourblind options we waited so long for don’t affect the main things I had issues with such as scratch marks and auras being invisible to me in lots of frequent conditions.

Yeah, same with me. I mean the color filters make it a little better on certain maps. Its better than the nothing we had before that

  • No its not, and that mostly the opinion of people who dont understand math or game mechanics.

  • Yeah, dbd did not do nemesis justice, and it never could, because it is a complete different game. Thats why you should be careful what you wish for. Because the wish coming true might not be the one you had in mind.

  • It might be that those players understand why self care is indeed a very good perk, because they understand the math, and equaly important, they know when to and when not to self care.

  • Dont forget that you can unlook perks for all chars in the bloodweb at will, if i got that right, so you might have to figure in shards as well.

  • @Laluzi said:

I see this suggestion crop up from time to time. It'll never work because most killers would not play against SWFs if given the choice - and on the flipside, a disproportionate number of killers in the SWF queue would be stuff like Basement Bubbas and AFK shard farmers. Bloodpoints don't matter much when weighed against whether your match will be fun or not, and unfortunately playing DBD with friends would become a pretty awful experience between the queue times and only ever getting sweaty or troll killers.

The thing is, most killers wouldnt play against swf because swf has several advantages. But if both queues are seperated, balancing modifications could be made, like longer gen times or killer being faster.

If then swf would provide an actual fair game just like the solo queue, why would killers still dodge?

  • Thats why i dont bother with reporting anymore. I dont video my games usually, so i dont have evidence, so reporting is futile. I already accepted this, if cheating becomes too much, i will just move on.

  • @Hannacia said:

Guess people would die then since im usually cleansing 3-4 totems per match. I play both sides i dont use NOED as a killer but i do think its a little too strong perk for killers that get 0 hooks in the game and end up 2-4k because of NOED.

yes, but then only one other survivor will have to cleanse one totem, and noed is gone anyway. I think hex perks are ok, especially since the toth- and undying-change. They bring their own counter always with them

  • @Hannacia said:

Just make it token based. Reward good killer gameplay. If killer hooks a survivor you get a token for NOED. Make it max 4 or so tokens.

Right now NOED rewards killers that play badly during the match and its a crutch for the endgame and quite often does give the killer 1-2 kills sometimes even 4.

I used to think NOED was fine perk but lately i see it way too much and way too often on killers that perform badly during the match and they get rewarded by 1 perk alone.

on the contraty, make it punish lazy survivors. Every survivor who cleansed a totem becomes immune to the instadown.

Does anyone here remember Gamespy? It was a external program to find lobbies/games internationally. With tons of filters for maps, languages, game modes, etc.

Something like that could be implemented for voice chat. The people that don't want voice chat can simply opt out of it. No problem in that.

That is a problem. Because if you bring voicechat, you have to rebalance the game, and then its not simply a choice to opt out anymore.

If you dont balance the game around it, killers will get a hard time with the people who do use it. I dont think thats a solution.

Do you camp and tunnel as a killer? IF so, you might have gotten enough kills to bring you to that state, where you can´t keep up skillwise.

  • The moment the killers starts camping and tunneling hard i actually stop caring about the game, so sometimes i just give up. No need of playing a game i dont enjoy. IF the rest of survivors would be efficent enough to punish this, it would be ok. but in solo queue, mostly they aren´t.

So, lets make the games boring for the killer as well. also, he rises to the ranks where he faces swf more often, and i think they deserve that.
