  • Well, player count never tells the whole story.

Before the patch, i played mostly solo survivor, and i had reached a very good mmr bracket, because i had constantly groups who knew how to do gens. DBD was my main game, i played it most of my playing time.

Since the patch, solo survivor had been hell to me. I think they changed something in mmr, because i got lots of players not doing anything usefull, in conjunction with killers camping and tunneling way more.

Since then, my gaming time in DBD is reduced by 80%, because i spend way more time playing other things. When i play dbd, i might do one or two survivor games, but mostly i play killer (since the patch, i did killer adept achivements, which are quite easy now. i got them all the last few days i played, only missing 2 , but working on it.

So, while i still in the player count, both my time and role contribution to this game has changes quite a bit. Pure numbers dont help you see that, but it might be as bad as players just stopping to show up.

well its not lazy, if you are an aggressive player who doesnt focus on gens as much and you dont tunnel you just add pressure but at the same time if i dont have bbq and i hook and walk 20 meters away towards a gen 50 meters away im not gonna keep going. its smart to down 2 survivors while the other 2 are doing something else. they are split up or stacking on a gen and once 2 survs are hooked and i chase 1 more the other does nothing and if they both run to the hook ill pressure the whole team. but yes some killers will go back to hook mid chase with a survivor even if youre cross map which is annoying and pointless

With other words, you tunnel anyway, because its a smart move. So the only thread you are making is you tunnel the stealth player instead of any random survivor, do i understand you right?

  • I am a survivor main, but i do play killer. Up before dredge, hag and doctor where my most favorite killers, but dredge just became my mainkiller after just a few games. I like him very much, but i dont play killer too often.

  • @MommyHunktress said:

I will go out of my way to camp and tunnel each and every one i find. It is the easiest, most bs gameplay in my opinion. you make the killer waste all of his time and because he cant find you your teammates get juggled. its a selfish way to play and very unfair in my opinion. if my mmr is high enough to where i have to be on my toes at all time the fact someone can just hide is really annoying. I just had a girl working on a gen on dead daweg and go for saves but i could never freaking find her. its the worst feeling in the game

IF a lot of killers wouldnt camp and tunnel anyway, there would be no need to hide that way. Because then, every survivor would get hooked evenly, and survivors could take the risk to just lose a chase easier.

But as it is, with a lot of killers camping and tunneling, not being found in the first place is the safest way. Its a result of how killers play. Thus, you going to tunnel and camp doesnt matter much, because thats what happens in most cases anyway.

Seeing how I only ever play solo when I play survivor and it was easy before the update, I have to assume swf was easier. So, my statement is true.

Playing killer now feels much fairer than before, which survivor mains think must mean easier.

Well i am a (solo) survivor mains, but i do play both sides. The fact that i did a number of killer adept achivementes on killers i dont even play often tells me it is way easier. The achivements on the few killers i do play regular are way harder, because of the higher mmr.

You are acting like they are related. I disagree pretty much with every change they announced in the last announcement.

Explain to me what a killer is supposed to do when they literally cannot cross the map fast enough to stop the first gen from being done?

prevent the last gen from being done instead.

    Learning.

    Improving.

If it's "lost" there is always something to take.

Humans learn with their mistakes. In these "lost" games, these mistakes will basically be free because it was already over anyway.

The thing is, you cant learn for your next random teammate in solo queue. And you cant carry a match alone, at least if mmr is working in any way.

They literally nerf tunnel and camp in this patch.

Have you even read the patch note before you make a post to complain?

Yet, tunnel and camp has increased in my games. before, it was about 25%, now its more than every 2. game. Why do people tunnel and camp more if it was nerfed? Do you even play the game as a solo survivor after the patch before you post comments about it?

Edit: to be fair, i didnt play survivor for some days now, because the experience before was just bad. However, that means tunneling is now in 100% of my games, because i am doing all adept-killer-achivements, and tunneling one guy out first (with 3 hooks) works most of the time.

Then why react to a post that does talk about stats in a thread who talks about stats?

@sulaiman The data being falsified is because people choose to play a different way in protest, as opposed to playing how they want to, in an attempt to alter data that could have a more dramatic response because of a sudden surge. You said it was happening before - we know - and if killers decide to do it more after the update then the devs will notice and it may change. However, if every killer did this then the devs may completely overcompensate. Also, it would be making a situation way worse than it is. And we still don't honestly know how many of those who claim this happens actually have experienced it, misinterpreted a situation, or flat out lying. It clearly happens, and some have shown evidence. But I highly doubt everyone who claims it actually suffers from it.

It's like not being happy with bin collections every fortnight when they used to be weekly, so people dump the rubbish and let vermin get to it and claim this is what fortnightly collections do, when they have plenty of room still, or too lazy to sort it. It harms more than it helps.

Let data happen naturally. If this is increased, it will show to the devs. And put suggestions through. Heck, bombard the devs! But don't ruin other people's fun just because you want to make a point. It's obvious already - why make a silly decision to prove what's already there?

Well, i disagree with you. I understand where you come from, but i dont share your approach.

I belive, if somehting is op, it doesnt matter how often it accured in a game, it shouldn´t be there. Your approach seem to be, as long as it doesnt happen too often, it doesnt matter how op it is. Well, everyone has his own opinion.

But people taking killer and use this tactics is actually good if you follow my approach, because you get way more data on that tactics, and you can see how often they result in a 4k or any k. So you can figure out faster if something needs to be done about this tactics.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3102448#Comment_3102448

Yes, but you would be manipulating a situation to a worse point. That isn't BHVR, that's the player.

There are going to be changes in future that can only be useful with proper data. The proposal you presented will only give false data that will mess things up and besides there will be adjustments in future. Suggestions are far more useful.

When I play killer, I shall not be doing this.

Camping and tunneling were issues before, and the devs (and most killers) not only call it a valid strategy, they also buffed it with longer gen times and shorter chases.

So using a valid tactic that got buffed is now a manipulation? Are only people who tunneled and camped before allowed to do it?

How would that give false data? On how often that tactic is used? On how often it results in a 4k? What data exactly do you think is falsifyed here?

Just look at the Olympics, it is competitive and it's fair, that's why there's different categories.

Is doping a part of being competitive or a part of being fair?

it gives better results, so its competitive, and everyone does it, so its fair?

  • There are several aspects, some of them lead me to stop playing for now.

First, you can see early on if a game is going anywhere or not, because if survivors don´t use their early window, the game is lost anyway.

The other side is that so many games are lost early because of bad teammates, so many killers camp and tunnel, that you get a kind of gaming fatigue. I realized that i started the game, but as soon as i got an "oh, that again"-moment i just wanted to quit. But afterwards, i just started a new game (in search for a good experience), just to have another "oh, that again"-moment.

When i realized that, i stopped playing. I played killer a little instead, but killer is not as satisfying to me as survivor used to be, so i get tiered of that soon, too, so i spend way more times in other games at the moment.

But others might not yet have realized what their problem is, so they just keep trying. Killer mains misinterpret that as people who want to somehow temper with the data, but i think its just game fatigue.

Solo. Used to play in a 3 man but they gave up the game a good while ago but i love it so i just keep playing.

I don't mind solo queue. I tend to not get as frustrsted at random teammates than i do as a swf as i expect better haha.

You have to realize then, that you are exceptional lucky. Because most of us solo queue players get teammates that dc, hooksuicide, or just hide. Only a few i encountered seem to know how to do gens.

A while ago, when i kept stats about my games, i had a survival rate about 75% (even when a lot of survivors were complaining), then with mmr, i finally reached a bracket were i got good teammats rather consistantly, and my win rate even got higher (and a lot more survivors seemed to escape).

However, since the patch, i almost never get decent teammates anymore, while i still get high-skilled killers.

Please not that the patch didnt affect me directly, since the only perk i run that was changed was self care, which i swapped for boon:Circle of healing, so its not a big deal in my personal playstyle. But teammates and other changes plummet my survival rate to about 20%. At that point, i just play killer, or most of the time, i play something else.

(please not that there are other issuse too, for one i have rubberbanding and ingame-freezes again and again. Sometimes in specific matches, sometimes all the time, sometimes not at all. but loosing games because you cant move after picking up a survivor or when the killer starts a chase with you really hampers the fun, too).

  • Which survivors do you mean? Solo or swf? Its not the same, you know.

  • I agree with the FoV-Slider. It would finally eliminate most stealth plays on survivor side.

  • @Dwightslocker said:

Im happy with survivor at the moment. First time in 2 years ive actually made the red ranks. So im either getting better or killers are getting worse.

    swf or solo?

A lot of players play killer now because its the way easier role now, so there are more inexperienced killers out there. But that doesnt help if most games turn into a 3v1 by themself.

  • the problem i see is that you have to prestige once you finish lvl 50, because you dont get much high-value-items when you return to lvl 1 all the time. Its not even an option not to prestige.

  • @drsoontm said:

Apparently the plethora of other threads wasn't enough.

    Neither were the detailed explanations.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0BM3O8ZUXBHW/image.png

This was before the devs said killer rates were lower than they wanted.

    TL/RD: "gitgut"

There is a lot of documentation available to achieve this, both texts and videos.

That means what? We know that starter-nurses dont get kills, and once they hit a certain skill threshold, they make up the kill statistics for most nurses alone. Left high-skill killing machines alone because they are balanced by low killrates from people who havn´t mastered them yet?

  • @Rescultir said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/337307/what-do-survivors-want-to-achieve-by-dcing-afking-giving-up-in-matches

They want to mess with the data so killers can get a nurf quicker. They don't realize that by doing so they only make the changes take longer.

I could see that if they all were afk-ing or hook suiciding, but so many do dc, and dcs leading to the game being discounted for data collection, how would that work, can you explain that please?

I personally dont dc, but i give up faster than usually at the moment, because you can see early on when a game is lost. But thats only part because of the (way overdone in my opinion) balance changes, but also on the fact that i run bond and can see my teammates hidding instead of doing gens, even if the killer is in a chase or nowhere near.

Lastly, i am tiered of tunneling and camping, which seems quite rampant (at least in my games). So if the firstr person is tunneled out, the killer won, i just run to him. He wants a boring game, he can have it.

However, i used to play about 6-10 games throughout the day, and now i barley play 2, because its just unfun and pointless if you dont have an swf. I spent too much time on this game the last few years, so i am not disconnected from it yet and try again and again, but at the moment i dont keep playing after a bad match, i go playing a different game.

  • I have an even larger escape streak if i am allowed to discout the matches i died in. Your point?

  • @D3spair said:

Just for Discussion, Let's be generous and say that 50% of all DBD Players are Solo queue players. Of all the complaints here saying that Killer was overbuffed as Solo queue is much more miserable.

My opinion is to have Solo queue get buffed so that SWF should be more aligned to Solo queue and Killer can get buffed more. but I see a lot of People here voicing that Killer should get nerfed instead.

Well, i think saying 50% being solo queue is not generous, because we know the statistics.

i dont share your opinion at all, because i like the lack of information in this game as solo survivor. You can never bring solo up to swf, because bespite the information advantage, which you cannot get with icons (nor with a chat option, because here in europe i often play with people i dont share any language with). But even if you could, you cant make random teammates as reliable as swf. You cannot make them do gens to help the team instead of hidding, you cannot make them not dc or hook suicide because they dont like the killer.

The solution is to have one queue for solo survivors, and one queue for swf, both balanced around the information (or lack of) the team has.

As long as you dont do this, there is a power difference between solo and swf, and the further you buff killer to be able to handle swf, the more solo got thrown under the bus. If you nerf the killer to give solo a fair chance, you are back where they cant keep up with swf.

I really don´t think there is a solution other than splitting it up and balancing both queues differently, so both are equally fair, giving killers no reason to dodge swf.

  • I belive most maps got brightend in the rework to nerf stealth, because so many killers didnt want to cope with that, despite there being more than enough perks to handle it.

Ever since the map rework, i enjoy the game less, because i am actually a stealth player (and no, i do gens, i do unhooks, and i dont just hide as soon as the terror radius is heard). This thread remindes me of why i came into this game, but it is actually gone...

Maybe it really is time to move on.

  • Since solo survivor is not fun at the moment. A lot of teammates cannot handle the change as it seems, and it seems like tunneling and camping has even increased, at least in my region. I dont see any reason to be part of that at the moment.

Also, i have a long list of games i bought and never played, because DBD was very fun for me. I am catching up right now.

  • If you want, i can post some screenshots with me getting between 33 and 36k. My record since the change was 38k, but sadly, i didnt make a ascreenshot from them. And all those were non-farm-games, and in a lot i got more bp than the killer.

  • @brewingtea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3088365#Comment_3088365

This is a good point. If you never play Survivor, do you know what the frustration is like? Not necessarily.

But are you perhaps better educated on WHY the frustration exists in the first place...?

That is a good point for me why the game feels so bad at the moment.

Before, playing killer could be very frustrating. To me, killer was never as rewarding as survivor, even if i managed a 4k, simply because killer games are a lot more binary. For each survivor, you are either better, worse, or equal to in skill. Equal happens seldom, so you either are better than your survivors and handle them with ease, wich lead to unrewarding victorys, or you have one or more that are better than you, leading to a very frustrating game.

Survivor, on the other hand, could lead to good games even if i died, because of plays i managed to do, or because i bought the rest of the team time to escape. there was frustration too, mainly with camping or tunneling leading to boring games, but it had its upsides.

Thoser are gone now, and to me, both sides play more frustrating than rewarding. (but that might have to do with the fact i am a survivor main, who also plays killer, but not equaly.)

  • To be fair, even in games without dc, most games are lost to solo survivors. I consider myself a pretty decent survivor. When i kept stats of my games, i had a survival rate of about 75% in solo queue, and i belive thats a lot better than average.

The patch itself didnt concern me at all, the only perk i run that was changed was self care, which i just swaped for circle of healing.

Since the patch, i escape maybe 20% of the time (i didnt keep stats of that). A lot of that has to do with camping and tunneling killers, and a lot has to do with teammates not knowing what to do (i run bound, so sadly, i know what my teammates are doing, and where they hidding instead of doing gens). If i had decent teammates more regular, i would have a better survival rate for sure, were i swf, nothing would be different.

But as it is, a lot of the time i would have spent playing dbd i played other games in the past few day. I still start dbd in the beginning, but after 3 games i dont care about waiting for maybe finding a decent game. No matter if its because of the killer buff or solo teammates not being able to cope with it, its neither fun nor thrilling the way it is. (and face it, those survivors were bad before, too, even with dh or other perks. They never were a problem, because they never touched a gen)

the problem is, that there was always a balance from solo <<<< Killer <<<< SWF. the balance patches just shifted that balance, so now its more like solo <<<<<<killer << swf, but it didnt adress the underlying issues.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    "first down, survivor dc'd"

I feel like that's the main problem right now. Survivors are throwing tantrums and giving up left and right before the match even really starts, even more than usual.

We can't even gauge how strong the changes actually are accurately because survivors are just throwing.

But the thing is, it does affect solo queue so much, that i am on the verge of leaving, because i cant get a decent match anyway.

Even if there is no dc, a lot of the time the killer is camping anyway, which doesnt make for a good game either.

No matter how much i love this game, there is no way to keep playing just in hope for a decent match.

I don’t think you can use soloq as a reason that those saves are impossible when talking about balance. Cordinated team can still easily get those saves.

While that is truet that nothing has changed for swf, i think its completly valid to use solo q as a reason in a thread about experience in solo q. (if you care to read the last sentence of the op too).

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/336648/survivors-are-giving-up-and-deranking

Yes, it looks like people are trying to make it look like the changes were to much. So the devs roll them back.

Honestly, the changes aren´t as bad as everyone claims. The new slowdown meta isn´t as oppresive as people claim. Yet they refuse to do gens.

To be fair, i think it is a mmr-issue. Before the patch, i had a blast since the last change. Since the patch, i again get the teammates that hide with 3 survivors left instead of doing gens or anything constructive. So the first kill (usually trough camping and/or tunneling) just turns the game into a 2v1 instead a 3v1 (i know this because i always run bound, and see a lot of what my teammates do).

Yes, if that point happens with 3 or 4 gens left, i dont care about the game anymore, because i know its going nowhere unless i hide too.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3081562#Comment_3081562

And I never said that communication wasn't somewhat important. I'm just saying that 4 good loopers is the true strength of SWF. Not communication

But that is not true for the majority of swf. not even the truth for the majority of 4-people-swf. Its just the strength of 4 good loopers that decide to play swf. If the same loopers came together in a game at random, the outcome woulnd´t change at all. (unless communication was a bigger factor).

For all other swf the outcome would change if they were random without communication, because communication is where they get their advantage from.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3081274#Comment_3081274

Do I think being able to communicate some of that stuff is more important then having 4 strong loopers ? Hell no...Because guess what ? If you have potatoe friends who can't stay up. You're not making it to that less gen. That 90 % gen doesn't matter. Because it's probably only gen 2 or 3. If your team mates constantly have to get off gens to save. They're not getting it done.

I promise you ...Well use Oracle as an example. The members of team Oracle don't need communication to juice you and make you look silly.

I never said communication is more important than 4 strong loopers. Having those loopers might even eliminate the need for communication.

But i belive that most teams don´t consist of those 4 strong loopers. And yet, those team can still kick the killers ass because of communication. And i think that is true for the majority of swf you will find in this game. And that makes it everything but meaningless.

Taking an argument that is only true for a minority of players, however, is mostly irrelevant to the player base as a whole.

But this can't be happening. The Devs said 5 seconds of BT and buffing Killers in all aspects would eliminate the need to face camp and tunnel.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3078342#Comment_3078342

Based on what ? Escape rates ? Again. I'd argue that's more the strength of being able to put together 4 good players, and having long chases throughout the whole game. Rather then the communication aspect. Communication doesn't mean anything if you're constantly on the ground or on the hook

Not? So, if you have a ghostface or bubba camping you, and you can tell your teammates they dont come to a save and do gens instead, then communication doesnt mean anything?

If you can tell the team where the killer is going, and the survivor on that gen has enough time to get into a good hidding spot so he isnt found, that doesnt mean anything?

Telling your team that the gen the killer kicked was 90% done, so they go and stop regressing it, doesnt mean anything?

Telling the team to work together on the last gen while one loops instead on splitting up on gens doesnt mean anything?

I am not sure you know what this game is about. Its not just about running in circles the whole game.

i played this game as part of a 4 swf, and there was one good looper, the rest was just decent. And yet we won most games, no matter the killer. Because of communication, because the bad looper can hide in time, and you dont waste much time.

  • Let me ask, how often do you play solo survivor? Because in my games, people like to break totems, even if they now i have Boon:CoH, which makes it very unreliable.

Unless you refering to swf, where none of that should happen.

This patch is such a healthy change to the game. Gen speeds have been addressed and dealt with, along with camping and tunneling. Metas have been butchered. Dead Hard is dead (which is a massive relief lol). Basekit BT isn't that hard to deal with compared to Dead Hard atleast. The endurance effect stacking is now fixed after the ptb. And the grind has been reduced.

But some players (especially survivors) are threatening to leave the game saying "oh killer sided patch, solo queue is destroyed". You do realize that these slight killer buffs were necessary because kill rates weren't high enough in the first place right?

What do yo mean with camping and tunneling was dealt with? I see more tunneling and camping than before, its almost every game now.

How is that being dealt with? (i have to agree, some killer dont start at 5 gens, but only at 2, but they still do it).

I ´d rather play the hide-and-seek-part, but that was heavily nerfed because killer didnt like it.

  • Actually, i dont feel any thrill. Also, i dont experience that struggeling, since a lot of killers still camp and tunnel just as before, and you just can genrush them as easy.

It's clear: they were getting carried by these perks so they got pretty lazy about thinking of their success of reaching this pallet or window. Properly hiding from killer and etc...

Now they're losing chases and outraging on killers 10% buffs and 2.5% kicking gens. -_-

Without these perks some survivors can have a good look on their ability to loop and mindgame and trying to improve or get better with. Others just outraging and "quitting" in forums.

Don't you guys think the same?

No. before, stealth was a valid alternative to looping. But stealth was heavily nerfed in the map reworks, and on a lot of maps, stealth is not an option.

I always used lithe, because it gave you an opportunity to juke the killer, thus i never used dead hard (and i dont care about that nerf), but it is wrong that its just survivors not having looping skills anymore, when map reworked were mostly adressing looping and hiding. Peaple didnt care because they still had dead hard, but now the effect of the rework comes to frutation.

Also, killers still have bloodlust, and that beats mindgaming and looping skills on a lot of tiles.

Mindgames in chases actually matter. Now its a mental fight between survivors and killers. Not press E to win anymore.

As killer you feel less forced to tunnel and camp as it seems games are slower now, so more chases, more fun, more opportunities for everyone, more BP!

I might be rushing this feeling but this might be the best balance patch they ever did.

Thank you for making this game great again.

IF it is now a mental fight between survivor and killer, why is bloodlust still in the game? Because killer need the help with their mental fighting?

And you might feel less forced to tunnel and camp, but it is still an easy and effective method, and thats why killer still doing it. It just got more effective. So for the one hooked first, its not more fun, nor more opportunites, nor more BP. thats basicly only true for the killer, if he decides to camp and tunnel.

IF you want to talk about balance in this patch, play as many games as solo survivor as you do as killer. then talk about the balance again.

Personally, I love it. I love going against the killers now knowing that if I make a mistake I'll be punished for it. I like that it's starting to actually feel like a real horror game for once on my end. Yeah the game is definitely harder and with all the slowdown perks it feels a bit annoying but honestly I don't see a big problem with it.

For years everybody has been begging for a meta shift and that's what we got. On both sides. I don't know why there are so many complains about the changes. Did some survivors really expect them to just change the killers meta and not ours as well? DH nerf was hard but stop complaining because that's what a meta shift is. DH was always used so it shouldn't be surprising how hard it was hit. And about self care being nerfed whats the big deal? Two months ago everybody said how useless self care was but today your mad about it being nerfed? Yes self care was mostly nerfed because it was also a huge meta perk but mostly in Asia.

Honestly this update is good, no its not perfect but it really is going into the right direction. I know most people want a free win but why bother playing a game like this when you know fundamentally most killers couldn't do much.

And yes killers are still camping and tunneling. It sucks, its boring, its lame. But did you really think some killers were going to stop? Bad killers are going to be bad and camp and tunnel. Some good killers do it as well but guess what? The game isn't just about you thats what some people need to realize. The killer shouldn't have to worry about your fun and your enjoyment just like we don't need to worry about theirs. They wanna win by any means so do we.

The thing is though...as solo survivor, you also get punished for your teammates mistakes, as well as for their decissions not to play.

For example, i had a game vs a nurse, and i was in 3 chases with her, and i escaped every single one of them. But my team didn´t bother doing gens in that time, and then nurse got after all others which she caught one by one, until only i was left.

so, did i get punished for my mistakes. No, because i didnt make them. Nurse, however, did make mistakes, and was she punished for it? No, her hand was held by the changes made to the game.

Dont get me wrong, while i am a solo survivor main, i do play both sides, and a lot of this changes were needed.

But the game turned from "The killer is punished for mistakes, but survivvors get free" to "survivors get punished for mistakes, and killer go free". I would have liked that every mistake makes a difference, no matter which side did it.

And thats not what we´ve got.

  • I also saw people saying clown and wraith were op.

People say a lot of stupid things.

  • Ok, that explains the problem i had with nancys perks as well.
