Is it possible from a programming perspective to create an algorithm which recognizes the lag and adjusts the game accordingly?
-
So after 5 games over two days I had no DC errors. Today with 72 hours between last DC error I got another killer who DC'd and I again got the matchmaking ban, it went down to 1/2 hour from 24 hours, it only took 3 days. This is still a major problem and a huge game annoyance. Still getting DC penalties for someone else's actions. Please fix and respond.
-
It takes awhile to get good on survivor the first dozen games are terrible, it will get a bit easier after about 20 games, but until you get some helpful perks you are going to get killed a lot.
Stick with it, you will improve.
-
Safety Pip is too easy to achieve. As a survivor it is way harder to depip than to pip. Unless you dc or afk you will just keep going up the ranks.

since we don't know how your account can be transferred to another platform, i assume it's going to be through a BHVR account.
i heavily doubt it will combine your two progresses. instead, i think you will pick which platform to make a BHVR account on, and then login to that BHVR account on another platform to access cross-progression. kind of like how it works with fortnite on multiple platforms being linked by an epic games account.
this is just a guess though. once again, wait until they fully reveal the FAQ and details then you'll get a certain answer.
This makes sense. Thank you.

Is it only dbd or other games as well?
Otherwise just have to make secondary account and play from scratch.
Eventually u'll be juggling 2 accounts which is better than getting banned on 1 account and be unable to play.
VPN in and make account in foreign server.
It only effects DBD on PC. Other games and apps work fine. We have 3 computers and the other ones never have this problem, but they also are work machines without graphic cards for gaming.
I have it on PS4, but it runs way better on the PC. The Playstation seems to run slower with less fps and it has greater lag issues.

Pretty sure they completely reset after 48hrs without a DC
I will try this. I will also look for a better game to play and give my time and money to a better game studio who cares about their customers.
-
I have DBD on PC and Playstation. Bought it two times. I have different characters on each system. Would it combine my two different progresses into one big progress or would it replace one progress with the other?
My Playstation characters are all maxed out Prestige 3 with all perks. My PC account is pretty new so I only have all the survivors to level 50 with only two Prestiged 3, I still have a lot of grinding left to do on PC.

Record it happening and report it
Have done, as have many others. It does no good to report it because you get no response.

I think they have their own cooldown but they've never went into depth on how they work so people dont pick and choose when and how many times they dc.
Could a Mod shed some light on this? How does the cooldown work? I think you can see the problem with increasing the time for each progressive DC. It is great if someone is actually dcing, punish those fools, but for those who do not dc this seems like an unwinnable situation. The more I play the more chance I will get kicked off until Behavior fixes this, so the more I play the more I am penalized.
-
Bernie takes camping to a new level by bringing a chair.
-
So any news from Behavior looking into this? I like to play DBD, it is my reward for getting work done and taking a 1/2 break. I currently have a 24 hour penalty and I have not dced once. Not once. Seriously this is a major problem. The frequency of false dc's has increased greatly over the last few weeks. As someone who has worked in customer service I can not imagine not addressing this issue, it is business suicide to punish your customers when they have not done anything wrong.
-
I also ran into an endless no progress chest. I just kept opening and opening and opening and opening and opening and never showed any progress. After about 5 minutes I stopped trying and just gave up.
-
Maybe 1 or 2 for every 20 hours of play.
The good ones are hard to detect because they do not want to get caught.
The hackers I notice are using ESP which shows the location of everyone and everything. I run bond so I can see my teammates. Once in awhile I will notice a killer who never searches for anyone but always knows where everyone is. They never walk in a direction where no one is, but instead is always moving directly towards a survivor at all times. If the survivor changes direction the killer does too a split second later. This should be impossible when there is no line of sight or aura perks in play. To test the ESP hackers I will walk to a locker on the other side of the map from them and hide in a locker. If they walk directly to me I know the score.
Very infrequently I see a survivor with a speed hack, which is always funny.
Recently I played against a killer who obviously had like 6 or 7 perks, I lost count of all the perks he was running; he had all totem perks, NOED, BBQ; it was nuts. At the end of the match his picture showed only one perk in use, and it was not a totem perk or NOED.
-
I too am thinking of taking a break.
1.) The game is broken. It disconnects you mid match then penalizes you. Most Devs would mark this problem as "code red" all hands on deck we need to fix this ASAP. Even if the problem took a lengthy time to fix they would acknowledge the problem and try to make amends to keep players around. I get snarky moderator remarks if I get anything when reporting a bug.
-
Toxicity often is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think telling other players they did something wrong is being toxic, but most folks can't stand to be corrected or receive advice.
-
Anything guys? Are you working on this?
-
This is a known major problem. This is the sort of thing which needs fixed yesterday. Can you devs post some info on what you are doing about this problem? Played one game fine today, second game I got disconnected. NOW I HAVE A 24 HOUR ban. As I have shown proof that I am not disconnecting, it isn't a problem on my machine and there is nothing I can do on my end to remedy it, I would appreciate some feedback on your end. I would tend to think banning your players from your game would be an unwise business decision. Being banned tends to cut down on my playing time and enjoyment of your product. I refuse to spend another nickel until you fix this.
-
Midwich Elementary School is by far my least favorite. I never dc from games, but this map makes me want to every time. As a survivor running is a no-go because the layout makes following tracks so easy for the killer. So walking or crouching is the only way to get around. The loops are pretty poor on here. Matches drag on forever because everyone is walking and gens are real hard to find. Ambient noises are distracting. It feels like the killer is always on top of you because the closed quarters mean you are always only a few steps from the killer's terror radius. It is pretty dark and bland, and like most schools everything looks the same.
What I would do to improve it is add some visual distinctive for each hall, like have one hall be the sports hall and have trophy cases and sports equipment, framed photos etc. Make another hall the art hall and have finger paintings and art supplies displayed. Make one hall the science hall, another the math hall, etc. You get the picture.
-
Now I got a 6 hour ban!!? The killer dced and I got banned, at least this time I got to keep my bloodpoints. Come on Behavior, you have to fix the ban times when they are applied against non dcing players. This is nuts. How can this be good for your brand?

As much as I'd love this feature to be finally added, even as just voice proximity chat, I doubt these people will ever remotely care they aren't team players. I've had people literally hide for a full 5 minutes while I'm looping the killer all so they can steal hatch and escape free, despite doing nothing to help and having barely 10k points. Escaping is just some peoples objective, regardless wether they help or not.
If they don't add cross platform chat, maybe they could add a couple more hand signals besides pointing and the come this way wave. I have one particular hand gesture in mind.
I feel your pain. This last game, it was down to two survivors. I unhooked the other player twice. They went down again and I knew it was death hook so I ran in and got the killer to chase me. I eventually healed them but in the process I went down. I get first hook and they run and hatch sit until I die.

Yeah I can imagine being bummed about it, must admit though...I'm having a bit of a giggle at imagining how I'd react if it were me.
I just kept walking up to the chest thinking eventually there will be something in there. So I moved the camera around to see if there was something in there but maybe it was unreachable; nope, just empty.
-
These are not all terrible. What is your definition of a good game? 4k or bloodpoints earned? You seem to have done alright points wise.
-
@Mandy said:
I must admit I've not seen that before! It's made me laugh, as I can imagine what I'd be like in game if it happened to me, especially as I run Plunderers a lot!
It was a bummer, I too had never seen it before. I was hoping for a medkit because it was a really fun game against a nurse. I love playing against Nurse because when they are a terrible killer it is so funny and when you run up against a really good nurse it is truly terrifying and action packed.
-
This happened again today, Nurse DCed and I got the penalty. Sometimes it gives you your bloodpoints when you do this, but not this time. Super bummed because I had healed survivors, dropped pallet stuns, saves, and chase escapes out the ying yang. I reckon I was north of 30K bloodpoints, all gone.
This is frustrating because I am grinding points for a new character, so instead of points I get an hour ban. NOT COOL.
-
If this is a perk, could I suggest instead of nothing it says, "you got new socks," and then the wah wah sound would play.
-
Okay got proof now, it is the killer DCing and both the killer and I are getting DC penalties. This seems to be a major problem.
-
Never mind the above comment, it did it again (running out exit victoriously when it drops me from game). This time it gave me a 1/2 hour DC penalty. My crime: playing well and exiting. I guess this by this point is old news, this game is so so so frustratingly broken.
-
On a plus note, today the game did it again, I was at an exit gate leaving to victory and it dropped me, I figured I would get a DC penalty and I did not. All that happened is I lost all my points for the game. So there appears to be no rhyme or reason to why it drops and if you will be penalized every time.
-
Happened again just now so I am able to confirm I had 20mb/s at time of game disconnecting. I was monitoring and I see I never lost connection.
I am now wondering if this is a bug that when the killer dcs the survivors are getting hit with the penalty. I had maxed out all saves, chase, bold, survivor points with a bloody party streams so I lost north of 60,000 bloodpoints. I was running around dropping pallets and blinding the poor killer. I was not being toxic, just a bad matchup.
Or it could be the good ol' Behavior employee who has taken to harassing me in game thinking he is cute. He got reported so I could see him holding a grudge.

so you now think i know how the internet works? yes it does possibly punish people for things out of their control, but what you don't take into account is the year and a half of abuse that was done and thus making this necessary. ALSO there is a ticket option on support to discuss and have them evaluate things here. problem is internet issues is rare but possible, and many times there are other issues here and one drop here usually only results in a 5-10 minute issue no sweat according to people that DC all the time like you indicate you are all in favor of. Now the thing is this type of disconnection is impossible to detect for all but the BEST automated systems. You insulted me then tell me that I illustrated YOUR position? no your position is that all the internet issues are at dbd's server and they need to fix their system and drop the penalty system which I do not support even with the possible issue i illustrated. No you can not use this on your crusade to allow people to disconnect willy nilly. I still see it but in reduced numbers so that is good. If you even took the time to learn what they have in place you'd have known you can submit a ticket to review disconnections in your case. I don't know what they can do but it's there.
You initially disagreed with me and then finally posted a confirmation of my original post. So I think the problem is you were a bit quick to disagree when you actually agreed with me.
Today it happened again. The game loaded to only the backdrop of the fire ring and crows, so I restarted and got a dc ban. The penalties are supposed to be for folks who abuse the ability to disconnect from a trial. It is not supposed to punish players who do not dc; it currently punishes players who play (I assume) just like you. We just want to play but constantly get penalties for dcing even though we did not. I would like to see that fixed or a workable solution for those who do not disconnect and get penalized anyways.
Oh and reporting it to Behavior is a joke, they do nothing.

Oh you mean when the killer is at the pallet?
In that case you need to stop running yes, if you run to the 0 position and you are still in the running animation, you won't be able to drop the pallet. That is normal.
Got it, so pallets are designed to work differently if you are walking or running.
-
I guess a less wordy way to put it:
Walking or crouching you can drop a pallet at 0-4, but if running you always have to run completely past the pallet before you get the prompt to drop.
-
@Leachy_Jr said:
They removed pallet vacuum ages ago, you only being able to drop the pallet at the 3 or 4 position while running is normal and has been normal for ages.
For walking or crouching, it vacuums you to the closest side of the pallet.
Not lag :L
So to be clear, Ignore the position of the killer in the picture, now instead imagine he is coming at me from inside the killer shack. I know I can walk up and drop the pallet on him from the 0-4 positions. I do this all the time walking, usually from the 1 position. But you are saying the game is designed so I can not run up and drop the pallet at 0,1,or 2; that I actually need to run past the pallet until I am on the same side as the killer at the 3 or 4 position? So pallets do operate differently based off of if you are running or walking?
And also to clarify sometimes the game vacuums you to the side you are closest to, but sometimes it vacuums you to the side furthest from you. I am trying to figure out how the game decides which side to vacuum you to. This happens if I am walking or running. Pallets are weird, sometimes I will be in front of a locker, I will get the prompt to enter the locker and instead it will drop the pallet and vice a versa sometimes I will be standing right next to the pallet, get the prompt to drop the pallet, and I will jump in the locker.
-
I would also add I find it odd that half the time I drop a pallet and I am at the 3 or 4 position the game will push me to the far side of the pallet (the side furthest from my current position), the 0. position in the picture, even though I dropped it from the other side.
-
Run Diversion, it is better than Spine Chill in my book. It lets you know when the killer is close, not just looking in your direction. Tossing the pebble is just icing on the cake, the real strength is you know how close you are to the killer.
-
I think the problem is for a business continued revenue is top priority. I would imagine more manpower is thrown at creating new dlc than is given to fixing the current bugs. New DLC creates new problems which compounds the problem of fixing existing bugs. I have to imagine it is frustrating being a programmer who understands the existing problems but their work is seen as less a priority than those who create content which will generate more revenue.

you are so full of yourself. I have 1 gig up and down, and have only had an issue when i lost power, or steam shuts down. when people are telling me that it has to be the server at dbd's end I ask them why then did I have no issue. I will give you ONE potential issue that could cause what you described and it's not something they can determine unless they have someone examining the data logs for several days. this shows that you can loose connection to dbd but maintain other connections. If you want to tell me what I do for a JOB and have been working with long before the internet EXISTED with dialup networks, you can live in ignorance.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PQH4NADRAKYV/internet-issue.png
This is just a straight one easy posibility. the internet is much more than you being connected to everyone with the same direction you go. lol use the commands tracert and you will see that different places take different routes!
You have offered one possible problem which justifies my original post and illustrates the point I was making, thank you. DC penalties are for punishing players who intentionally disconnect. It should not penalize players who live in a world with an imperfect internet structure. It would be really easy to fix. To DC you have to select "leave current trial," this is disconnecting. A player who does not dc should not be penalized.

This would not be great... this would just encourage this awful meta even more. I don't trash someone for using meta perks, it gets boring after a while to just know "Oh yep I'm not gonna hit them here and end the chase 20 seconds quicker, fun fun"
Well it is an exhaustion perk, so it isn't like it is a "get away free" perk. It just gives survivors a chance to outrun the already faster killer, who basically from the get go is running die hard the whole game (if you base if off of player movement speed.)

you are the one that does not know how the internet works. wow... if you have a tunnel that is 5 meters in diameter and try to force 6 meters in diameter through it because only 5 meters will go through, you'll either loose something from one or the other, or your connection might drop completely. running a ping test without everything else you have running in the background however it will tell you what the conditions that you have AT the time of the test are and what your latency at that specific time is, not what it was 10 minutes before nor one minute after.
You have no idea how the internet works because your audio book could be sourcing from a network that has ONE common device as the one for dbd and that being your router. and there could be a drop between your router and dbd's game servers, and that is why dbd dropped but your audio book did not. Also your audio book (assuming audible) is downloading to your device as you listen to it so it will not stop even if you completely lost your internet because there is extra on your device before it lost connection or all of it had already downloaded.
This is why the penalties will not change (per the devs) because if you're having a bad connection day, you best relax and perhaps do something else for once. there isn't anything pressing in game right now tbh. my connection to dbd today has been great so i can say you are having some other issue.
oh yea there are a great many more issues i can come up with that can cause you connection issues to ONE thing and not another.
Yes, if I had incredibly old internet from the 90's this would be relevant. I have high speed internet which never comes close to maxing out its limits. Audiobooks use very little for streaming, it would also effect other online apps all which maintain their connection. So I am sorry to imply you do not know how all internet works, you just do not know how big my bandwidth is. Since others are having the same problem we can assume it is not just on my end. My original point is since the dc penalties are effecting folks who do not DC the penalties should be adjusted. Right now they are punishing folks who do not rage quit but can do nothing to change the problem from a consumer level.
-
This would be great if you could control Dead Hard. Right now if a killer hits you and the game turns you to compensate for lag when you Dead Hard you fly off in odd directions. With the wonky hit boxes I will dead hard and the killer will swing and hit the air where I just was the game will turn me and Dead Hard will run me right into a wall or some other odd direction.
-
@apathyinc said:
Are you streaming the book on the same device that you are playing on? If it's the same device, the audiobook could actually be buffering, so you wouldn't notice a drop. Try streaming a live broadcast on the same device that you are playing on and see what happens.
will do
-
Follow Me!: Your foot prints never disappear. Create confusion by leaving footprints which lead the killer on a wild goose chase.
Killer's Path: See killer's footprints in a similiar fashion to how they see survivors.

Sounds like an unstable connection, try some ping tests like Fast.com or Ping Plotter.
Thanks, I will try these again. Initial tests show my connection is strong and fine with no drops.

@slowbeice said:
I dont see any issues with the servers today, and no they wont be changing the penalty system because someone had an internet error.
Perhaps listening to audio books is drawing from your bandwidth and causing you issues.
Nope, not an issue on my end. Streaming audiobooks does not effect gameplay; that is not how the internet works.
-
two ideas
1) Power Play: gain haste and invincibility for 5/8/10 seconds after completing a gen.
2) Two-Fer: when repairing a gen another gen is repaired at 10/25/40 rate of success.
-
Another idea is I would love in lobby if you could reorganize your perks and items. I have like 6 perks I use, all the rest just take up screen space. Same with items, never bring maps or keys, I hate the space they take up.
The way the players just stand by the fire is super boring. Maybe you could win or buy "lobby dance moves." So you could dance or do fun or interesting moves for the amusement of others sitting by the fire.
-
I can't play first person games because it gives me motion sickness. Only time I play killer is when all dd's are killer based. But I am one of those goofy friendly killers who walks around like he is drunk swinging at walls. I would play killer if he was third person, but that would ruin the game for most folks.
-
I don't know what they are allowed to do in terms of licensed characters and dressing them up. If you gave Quentin a paperbag with two eyeholes as a possible head he would become one of the most played characters just because it would be funny
-
This would be a great DLC especially if they added a map based off of RE1 mansion.
