But for real, why does she need to see the aura?

Its so easy to find a survivor with a trap on and tunnel them out

She can output pressure that way, if she leaves you to get the mask off, how is she any different from a meme m1 killer with some slowdown perks?

  • No, because the majority of the playerbase is incredibly bad at the game, the last stats showed how much people die to meme killers like sadako and freddy, so as long as they have a high killrate why change them? They are performing fine.

  • Hell yeah I hecking love gacha games where getting a skin can get up to 200$, but honestly with the current monetization trends on main dbd, I think we might be getting there.

  • Even with eruption out there showing people what an uncounterable combo looks like, people still manage to complain about a combo that literally warns you when it will proc, idk if people are legitimally trolling at this point.

So in solo queue you like playing against a Wraith (with the build I mentioned):

    • Which you can't see coming
    • You get slugged over and over again
    • You spend 5 seconds in chase each time once the nearest pallet to the gen is gone - either this or you're AFK hiding in a corner not doing anything to progress the game
    • Difficult to heal against - pretty much injured/slugged all game
    • Very difficult to co-ordinate against in solo queue
    • Constantly having the incapacitated effect (because remember, he's just kicking gens and downing people over and over again). Meaning you can't do gens, heal or even heal other slugged survivors
    • Teammates having to run around the entire map to find you because of knockout

So yes, I don't like that gameplay - which is why I say I'm glad CoH discourages this because you have a chance to heal throughout the match.

If the loud af bell doesn't hive him away, or the incredibly noisy breathing or thr easy af to see shimmer he has still the potential to surprise you, idk what to tell you.

  • I haven't used eruption (because im stupid af and run no regression), but I really wanna see what's the next in dire need of a nerf, probably call of brine or overcharge, which unlike eruption do have a counter but I predict it will be a deadmans + pain res situation again.

  • Complaining about dissolution might be justified on certain cases, but dissolution on an m1 killer? How do you even let that proc, you can loop the easily without dropping/vaulting the pallet.

And wanna know what all those killers with low map traversal have in common? A strong ability in chase. A killer shouldnt be able to excel in several areas, all that does is limit counterplay.

Also dont act as if only killer perks are the only ones being complained about.

Not really, I personally have seen so many people call certain killers very good in chase, when it is due to survivor mistakes, I quite literally main slinger and if people ask me, he is not that good in chase, however he punishes survivor mistakes quickly, I literally facepalm when I get snipes or shots through little holes, since they are easy to avoid as survivor, when I get those downs I literally think "this down was not because of my skill but the lack of skill from the survivor", yet many people consider slinger to be a powerhousr on chase, now its true that only few people are actually good, but that doesn't mean his power and many other "incredibly good" chase powers are as good as people say

It’s just not believable. Every game? Nah. There are not that many blight & nurse players running around. And an even smaller number of them know how to actually play them well. Those are two killers that if you don’t know how to play them, you get smacked.

I was being sarcastic but poes law always being there.

  • @HugTechLover said:

I doubt you play against nurse and blight every match.

I do, I have no proof but I do, im a a slinger main if that helps :)

  • This is curious, I personally do not play with eruption, I use pop only (which is useless tbh, bu thats besides the point) and yes sometimes people are so bad that they let me win, but when someone escapes, there is always mockery, or straight up bms, I personally like it but for someone who doesn't, what incentive do you have as a player to handicap yourself by not using the most busted stuff?

  • @AssortedSorting said:

The game as it is now is balanced around the last few generators being the most difficult to repair given the Killer has less to patrol.

Generally speaking as Killer you’d also want enough resources to have been wasted by this time so this patrol has quick chases and subsequent downs can be placed in the shorter patrol route, which feeds into the above.

It would be interesting to see how the game would play out if Survivors had less resources to start with, and could build resources to a limit over the course of the match.

Might make the start less pressuring for the Killer, but also allow Survivors to recoup lost resources to make the chases harder at the end.

If the team is good and repairs gens in a strategic way, you can make the last 2 gens hell to patrol, thr fact that the majority of the playerbase still doesn't do this is baffling.

    Ehhhhhhh.

His counterplay is basically just stay near high walled structures and even then, you go down eventually.

By the time a trickster downs you on a high wall loop at least 3 gens should pop, if not, that team is asking to lose.

  • I see your justification does not go into why they are not second chance perks but on how they counter certain plays, in a very antagonic manner too, but it still doesn't present an argument on why they are not second chance perks, I agree some of them are not, but due to reasons different from "killers are evil".

  • One of the only good things slinger has, I don't have to deal with dh as much.

  • As a slinger main, I have always considered slinger to be budget huntress, but with the addition of so many awfull maps, I realize comp players were right all along, huntress is very map dependant, slinger while being less map dependant is not a good killer, no good survivors should be hit by a snipe/gap shot, however since most people are really bad at the game, you will get snipes/gap shots.

Imo he is more fun because I prefer the harpoon over hatchets, since its quicker and chases feel fast paced, so I play him.

  • Tbf it's kinda funny, I swear if I get a good snipe on a survivor early on the match or doen them quick, they will 80% DC, however I have noticed that when I do not do so well at the start no one DCs, my personal interpretation:

The killer being decently good is "unfun" and ruins survivor matches. Mind you I play addonless non meta slinger, I am literally handing out free 4 man escapes, people still DC lmao.

    Or.. hear me out

Pulsar is actually a good player, and comp teams a tad bit overrated

I do not doubt pulsar at all, but if you are good/decent comp team, there is at least a minimun I would expect, and that minimum is dunking on every m1 killer, if you are in a 4 man swf, know how to do good comms, know how the game works and have good perks, there is no excuse that you let a sadako get more than 4 hooks, you might have played in tournaments but you are not a good team.

  • If they were a comp team and gave you 7 hooks as onryo they were a pretty bad comp team.

your comment makes no sense, knowing the killer's perks is not in anyway screwing them.

"Hey the killer has bloodwarden", bloodwarden will never proc,"be carefull he has discordance", people only work on one gen, you can nullify the perks by just giving that info, this happened before and was exactly the reason it was changed.

  • The moment you choose an m1 killer to play as you accept you will get dunked on if you face good players, they are rare but no good team will let an m1 get more than a 1k, so if you choose plague, you literally knew the outcome that could happen.

  • @Batman781 said:

ok so a few things to mention, the last loopible killer that could be mind gamed was Oni. Every killer since ignores pallets and windows 100%(in the control of a skilled player). They are all beatable if the team spreads out and does gens. The problem with this is most survivors waste too much time and the most time is wasted while injured. These killers must be kept at a distance which can be done with resources but if ever you use a resource to avoid a hit you will fail. Resources need to be used to create and maintain distance.

The trouble with this is that very few players understand this. With all of the time wasted it makes gen regression perks a menace to DbD society. Now we are never going to have complete balance due to the 3 types of survivors mentioned above by StarLost. That wouldnt be so bad if there were a way to generate a fair matchmaking algorithm.

My escape rate is relatively high, I'd say 80% or so. I guess my gripe is just losing to killers who have little to no skill as players because they can knock gens from 90 to zero in about 10 seconds consistently. Id almost rater perks and add ons be removed from the game. Let killers be base and survivors win using raw skill and not toxic tactics. I think it would honestly make more people say "good game" at the scoreboard screen than "get good".

On top of all this a large number of people who play this game are the worst quality human beings alive which doesnt help the community have fun. I literally cant play a day through without someone messaging me something that I could honestly have them thrown in prison for.(racism and other hate, threats, and DOS attacks, to name a few) Toxicity and hostility are a big part of it and I think it is generated in part by killers who get bullied by elite SWF teams.

Just regarding thr last point, even if you get bullied or mocked by SWFs that doesn't excuse that type of behaviour, dure you can play pretty unapologetic after, but doing those things is just trying to slice bread with a sword.

  • Seeing thr latest stats, you can apparently win while not using your power, blindfolded and without audio, the fact that even at the 5% top mmr people still die to meme killers like sadako, and also die to killers as easy to counter as dredge speaks volumes about how good people are at the game, id say your chance of actually encountering someone who is not awfull at the game is probable like 5% or lower, meaning you can play how you want, wanna play trapless trapper? Go ahead, most survivors will somehow get wrecked by that and call it OP and boring.

  • Im about to hit 2k hours and have never seen a mercy kill offered to me nor any sign of empathy, but its ok, since I do not show any mercy either, we are playing by the same rules.

  • Lmao, Bhvr making a meme killer even worse, I hope they see this and fix it, but keeping their track record, it seems I have to drop the redeemer until the first or second hotfix for thr midchapter patch.

In almost all the 150+ matches of my winstreak I'm doing right now, 90/95% of them Ruin doesn't get found, cleansed, or if it does get found it's too late because someone is already almost dead, and I didn't have a single one where ruin was found right at the beginning, perhaps they improved spawns or something, or maybe it's the combination with Corrupt that makes it so they don't search for it if it spawns near them.

If after they know Ruin is in place someone wastes even 30 seconds trying to find it, that's MASSIVE, because after the first survivor is dead it would be gone anyway, and it might be the difference between killing the first survivor at 3 gens left instead of 2 or 1.

If during 150+ games no team was competent enough to get rid of a perk that is so easy to counter, then holy hell, I knew the average player had no idea how the game works, but I thought they were at least semi competent.

If what you are saying its true, then that also explains sadako's high killrate and so on, then again I still 4k while playing addonless slowdownless slinger, which should be a free 4 man escape if the team is mediocre.

With that said if you have won so much games with such an easy to counter build, with a low mobility killer that cannot pressure hex totems, then imo you can make the case any killer is OP and out of control, since people can get beaten by the easiest to dunk on strategies.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

It works well because 99 gens regress, same if you leave a gen to go to another one

Not really, by the time deadlock should proc in the first time, ruin should be cleansed already, also blocked gens cannot regress, so if I as survivor see my gen get blocked and I know the killer has ruin, I literally get a gen that cannot lose progress, meaning I can leave that gen and go clease ruin without any risk, that combo literally gives survivors a benefit when affected by deadlock.

If a team of survivors actually manages to let you get value from that combo and not use it against you, I would say even bloodhound can be an OP perk against those teams.

  • @Krazzik said:

So many people don't seem to understand that a guard camping a hook isn't strong. Does no one read killer-power descriptions?

Some specific interactions with powers are not specified in their description, however if you are gonna complain about something you should at the very least know how that thing you are complaining about works.

And more to your topic, most survivors have no idea what killer powers do or killer specific things, for example, people still do not know trickster and sadako have a lullaby or that you only need to lock one locker against dredge when there are piled lockers, which imo is basic info.

  • I mean you are right in the regard that he is just an m1 killer with haunted grounds, but you fail to understand the vast mayority of players are really bad at the game, if people manage to go down to sadako and other m1 killers you as myers do have a chance to kill someone in average every match.

  • Yes, I want call of brine and overcharge to be nerfed too, so I can watch what is the new perk that is uncounterable and needs to be nerfed, honestly eruption is kinda bs, but from the experience we had with deadmans+ pain res, i'm convinced people do not care if a combo/perk has counterplay or not, they just don't like effective regression/delay, altho for the record i'm not delusional out of that bunch eruption does not have a counter.

  • I do the contrary, when I see a high prestige survivor I will play the match (I tend to not dodge matches unless its a know cheater or I am in a bad mood and don't wanna face a swf) I will go with the asumption that they are good, if I chase them a little and they are very good I will drop chase and avoid chasing them the rest of the match until very few resources are left, and if I see they are not that good at chase, well if they had all the time to get to say p100 and are still easy to down...I have found myself a very weak link, and can take advantage of that.

  • Not true in any capacity, since the stats show that even the top 5% mmr dies a lot to meme killers like sadako, if so many people of the highest mmr can die to such a joke killer you are still facing potatoes in high mmr, meaning you can still win easily without doing things like tunneling.

Nope. You're mixing that up with "Oblivious". Blindness only makes you unable to see auras. You still see the red stain and hear the killer's TR.

That being said, the only real use I've found for blindness so far is missing the aura of hooked survivors. Anything else is too situational or just not impactful enough.

I would like to see blindness deactivate the icons for its duration. That way it would be exactly as strong as it is now without the icons but might be useful because many people will rely on them.

    @HugTheHag said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3311778#Comment_3311778

    You're thinking of Obliviousness !

Blindness actually only removes the ability to see auras. =)

    @jajay119 said:

Blindness removes the red stain and terror radius so the killer has a better chance of getting to the survivor unnoticed.

It also removes aura perks so you can't see specific locations.

It will still do all of this. Being able to see someone is on a gen or being chased won't change that. You still won't be able to tell how close the killer is or where anyone else is.

Just wanted to clarify both of these are wrong, as oblivious still lets you see the killers red light and aura, what you are talking about is undetectable.

  • Wont change a thing, problem with soloq is most of its players are not the sharpest tools to put it lightly, no icons will make your teamates stop going down to joke m1 killers without wasting at least 2 gens worth of time.

  • @Aceislife said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3310203#Comment_3310203

I agree with you. The icon changes will help soloq a lot. I dont think its going to make Eruption balanced however.

Hard disagree, starstruck+agitation may be bs, but if the nurse failed her blinks the combo lost effectiveness, now nurse players can change those perks for slowdown, making it so there is less skilled required to play nurse as all the perks you used for basic attacks will be replaced with slowdown, and you will have more time in the match in case you miss blinks, your mistakes won't get punished as hard as before.

  • I honestly see too much people putting m1 killers up there, like how do you think those are even remotely good compared to the actual killers, dredge, sadako and the like are easy af to beat compared to say spirit or blight.

    My list is:

    1.Nurse

    2.Blight

    3.Spirit

    4.Wesker

    5.Twins

  • I think you can give soloq all the basekit kindred or information you want but it will not balance it out, why? Because information does not make you good at the game, for example, a killer like onryo gives you a ton of info, enough to never get ambushed/surprised by her, yet so many people manage to give her free hits.

Communication will not make your teamates good, so you can even see everything thats going on in the match, if you still go down to an m1 killer without at least wasting between 60 to 90 seconds, no amount of info will solve your problem.

People complained about deadmans+ pain res, a combo that gives you an aura warning when it will proc, if they considered that a problem when it gave them all the information to counter it, then I believe soloq will always be the weakest role in the game, not because of lack of information but because most of them are simply not good at the game.

  • If you are half decent at the game, you should know that at least in chase you are the one in control of how it goes, and if your team does too, well you can dunk on the killer as much as you like.

Now if you can do this while being half decent, if you are good, you should loop m1 killers as easy as knight's guards or nemesis zombies, there is no risk on chase (unless they get bloodlust ||| ).

But since most of thr playerbase does not achieve the semi decent category, your average team will somehow die to meme killers like trapper or non condemned sadako.

If u face 3 or 4Man-SWF while playing M1-Killer, you know why.

M1 killer are meant to be dunked on anyways

  • Nah, I already play a meme killer without addons and slowdown, and if people manage to give me 4ks im convinced you can play perkless trapper without using traps and still win against some teams, no need to run meta everytime.

  • I do not run gen perks yet my endgame chats are full of creative ways I should game end myself, just as a question did the huntress get stomped? How many kills did she get?

  • You will never manage to convince me a killer that let 4 survivors escape is any good, they got destroyed by those survivors, they absolutelly wrecked him since he was so mediocre he couldnt even get a single kill, bot trapper and they can get the same results.

It's more than just the average vs. good player thing though. That situation you described is what was suggested as a bad thing for the killer, but it's only a bad thing if the killer aggressively tries to defend the hook. You've got two people hanging around the hook, you just have to chase and down one. They have to come into range to use the perk, so you can use that as your first hit, and profit off that.

But I feel like people are just comparing that situation to the exact same one, minus Reassurance, while not realising that that situation won't happen without that perk.

With Reassurance, two survs could pull off this strategy. Without it, they won't bother. So the aforementioned situation of two survs juggling Reassurance should not be compared to two survs just hanging out, watching the hooked survivor die, it should be compared to one survivor hiding nearby and keeping tabs on the killer, while the other continues on a gen.

And then the comparison doesn't look that bad anymore, suddenly! Fewer survs on gens, and they have to expose themselves to get to the hook to use the perk, versus not having intel on where the survivors are, and them having an extra perk.

It's only a problem if the killer continues to try to camp.

Which just brings it back to 'anti-camp is fine, so long as it doesn't interfere with my camping'.

I differ in the part of "you just have to chase and doen one", thats were the ddifference is between a good player and a bad one, a good player will not get downed outside of a deadzone by anything less than blight/nurse, if we are talking a bad player, you are right on every aspect, as they will go down to even a trapper or a sadako, but against good players that just down them doesn't work unless you are blight/nurse.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3307117#Comment_3307117

I mean, you name it - it is a Perk which might find use in an SWF. But if you are Solo (or I would even say, anything below 3 person SWF), the usage is really limited and not really worth to pick.

I mean I think thats reassurance main issue, since it could be a help for solos getting camped, but OG reassurance against people who actually know how to play would be hell, they could just pause the timer and use the hook timer + reassurance as a safe time to do gens, making getting a hook a punishment for the killer rather than a reward.

However since even the top 5% of the "best" survivors somehow manage to die to a meme killer like sadako, imo these teams who know how to play and hence use reassurance to its max potential could be counted with your hands, yet they nerfed it.

People are so keen is seeing the problems perks can cause on good players, when they failed to realize the average player does not know how to play.

  • If people manage to somehow die to non condemned sadako and trapper, then by mere chance you should be able to get matched with survivors so bad you can do a 12 hook game as trickster, now the issue is not make them DC early because then you will get no adept.

So try to act dumb or play baddly at the start, because about half the survivors will DC in the first chase if the killer is not completely bad at the game, do try to act dumb to then win.

If you played well enough for long enough that the Killer admits defeat outright, I'd call that a pretty complete match.

What, Killers don't lose their add-ons or offerings? They could probably have farmed at least a few more points if they had kept playing out the match as well.

If it's really that big a deal to you, the solution is to have bigger quitter bonuses, not to punish the Killer.

Nah, because the people who get the bonus will continue to play as usual while the person who ruins the match doesn't learn anything, if you punish them, maybe they will think about it two times before doing it, I like how it works but I would preffer a system like f13 or other games that when you ragequit a lot it puts you in the "salt mines", basically pairing you with equally entitled players that DC a lot, meaning those people get to ruin equally entitled player matches and they get to experience the other side of the problem, honestly props to ganes that do that.

I can say the actual fact is, we all share a different play with this killer. It's subjective as hell.

Usually you tell a killer's power is good or bad, this time around... she can do well only if you are up to extreme pressure in the game.

How does a team of people who are not new/throwing manage to get pressured by an m1? Its like managing to get looped while playing nurse, you have to be incredibly bad to achieve such thing.

  • He is a bad killer but since most survivors are bad too you should not have trouble getting shot hits, and the harpoon going trough their body happens because of two aspects, hitboxes/latency.

  • This would be the case if most survivor players were good, as beating an m1 killer is very easy, however people are really bad at the game( hell some people genuinly die to trapper and non condemn sadako), so they are not unviable because there is such a low amount of good players, you can even have an average killrate higher than 50% while playing trappless trapper, now trappless trapper isn't a busted killer, people are just that bad that they will hand you the win.

  • As you said, sadako is very easy to loop, so if the killer does commit to a chase, a good survivor can make her lose the match in a single chase, however if you verse a good killer they will just hit you or give you a condemned stack and leave you, treat her like oni, if she gets the hit she turn on the TV, do not let her get that hit, you can avoid getting sneaked on since you have a LOT of sound cues.

Now as you said you were in soloq, so there is literally nothing you can do, if they go down to a sadako im afraid against any decent killer they would have never had the chance to escape, you cannot control how skilled your teamates are unfortunately.

1 … 19 20 21 22 23 … 33
