Such hyperbole.
Three regression perks were nerfed. Two of them needed it because comboing CoB and OC was OP, and Pain Res is arguably not nerfed all that much at all now. (PR currently takes 7 hooks to inflict 105% regression, if there's still gens left at 7 hooks you've probably already won, new PR will take 4 hooks to inflict 100% regression).
Meanwhile there's several other regression perks, and only one of those (Ruin) is too weak to bother with, the rest are entirely viable.
I never use CoB, OC or PR. I use Jolt, or maybe Thrilling Tremors, Corrupt on setup killers.
I haven't been nerfed at all, but my opponents who have had their self healing abilities decimated certainly have been.
Thrilling is in no way shape or form a slowdown perk lmao.

You aren't forced to use a scourge hook lmao.
This rewards good Killers for not tunneling. It's a W and a well designed perk.
You dont need scourge hooks, which is a good change else the perk does nothing, yet if its the first 4 hooks then its still useless, by the time you get the first down any decent team should have at the very least have 1 gen done and some progress on another one, less than 25% for sure, son when you get the hook the other gen will regress less than 25%, way less reward than it offers in paper, so it really only has 3 uses were it actually can proc the 25%, unless you are a bad killer and can only get those 4 hooks when gens have good progress across the map, and if that happens you already lost the map if you are playing that badly.

25% total regression is nothing to scoff at.
It is, taking into account how it works, most of the time you should not get 25% regression as not all gets will have 25% progress so you have to use those 4 tokens when you know a gen is in high progress, you down a survivor for the first time (so probably early on the match so the effect is not as powerfull) and close to a scourge hook, its so circumstantial its practically useless, just because it has a pretty number on it doesn't make it good.
-
As you said "if they were brought up to thr le el of being able to 12 hook" there wouldnt need be any reason to tunnel, but doing that last thing is impossible so I wouldn't put too much tought into this scenario.

Timestamp: 15:27, " pain res was way too OP" sorry but if thats his opinion on pain res, and based on his opinion on slinger I cannot take his sugestions regarding balance seriously.

Tbh I dont care about Pain Res and it was on overrated perk imo.
It only workes fine if you are lucky with hooks or camp hooks and survivors are dumb enough to give you Pain Res right after each other. In most situations the time it took me to bring a surviver to a Scourged Hook was quite long so the slowdown effect without DMS was quite neglectible.
Exactly, all your points related to pain res are correct and very easy to understand, however in the video you sent he cleary states he considers pain res to be OP, which makes me consider he has not a very good knowledge of how the pace of the game works (at least nowadays), so I will take his reactions with a very big grain of salt.

Deathslinger was S tier when he was released. Small teror radius combined with quick aim ability was really strong.
Your other aspect isn't valid either.
Tofu is a killer main and manages to win 90% of his games while reading chat 50% of the time. Can you do the same? Do you have the same skill level?
The argument that his survivor opponents make mistakes is valid for everyone. Most survivors in this game are bad and make many mistakes.
Only entitled kiler mains in this forum face 4 man sweaty SWF teams with BNPs and ranger medkits every game.
I do not face 4 man swfs all the time saying that would be foolish, but I manage to get 4ks often, however I do know its not due to my skill nor the killer I play, but because most of my opponents have no idea what is going on, if you let an addonless slinger without slowdown get a 4k you are objectively horrible at dbd.
Still you yourself said it, he manages to get a 90% killrate while reading chat and I do watch his stream from time to time enough to see that the moment he faces people who are not throwing he gets absolutelly clapped, nothing wrong with it, if you face good players without a good killer that is to be expected.
But you haven't still refuted the other arguments aside from just stating they are not valid without explaining, for one he trully believes new pain res is a good perk, new pain res is literally non-existant and if you argue its good it shows a lack of comprenhention on how slowdown works in dbd.

Not everyone is a top player though and the game shouldn't be balanced around top players. If a chase is 90s long your over committed and that's you're own fault. Who would let someone kill you for free
Not everyone is a top player, and since the most busted things such as alch ring blight and nurse are really not played by casual players, they should not be balanaced? I do not have any issues with that opinion, as long as is consistent, deadhard should not be nerf because not everyone is good at the game, same as nurse/blight if thats the logic behind the argument that is.
-
Yeah sorry tofu's opinions have always been really funny, for one he clasifies slinger as an S tier killer, when the cowboy is a joke to any semi-decent player. He also says killer is incredibly easy and that he win matches because of it but never actually sees that the survivors he is facing make a bunch of mistakes, even during his comp experience you can see him narrate plays that a player did for X reason and say a totally random thing because he doesn't understand it.
I respect tofu as a dedicated content creator for the game for a long time, but I do not take most of his opinions of balance seriously since he has shown time and time again to not be correct.
Edit: just watched the video and it was all I expected, with jewels such as "pain res change was 10/10 it was OP",

Damn, just like hexes.

They also brought back the PR + DMS combo so i would say it is not impossible for them to revert it either
They brought it back due to the mercyless storm bug, the way I see it the only way they found to fix the interaction between mercyless and pain res was to add the scream, which made it work with deadmans again. Their approach was not to fix a bad change they did before, they were just doing a quick change to fix a current issue that coincidentally fixed a bad change they did before.

Holding a 3-gen for an hour is holding the game hostage. "It's a tactic" yeah a tactic to get banned.
Stats say every Killer is viable, even at "high" mmr. Pretty crazy how if you're good at the game, you can do well.
While I think that holding a game for that long is bs, boring and no killer should be able to do that, doesnt the second part of your argument mean that no killer really needs any buff/QoL changes?, I mean if even trapper can do well because people are awfull at the game then he should be right were he is, same for pig and all the meme killers.

I have had zero issue with Dead Hard since I started playing DBD in 2019, so no it is not related.
Over-rated perk, that never even needed to be changed--it boggles my mind that a killer cannot wait 1 extra second to counter the perk. All Arguments made in favor of its oppressiveness are gross exaggerations and niche cases.
I have played since 2016 and never considered the overcharge skillcheck problematic, people just exagerate it, even new overcharge is a very easy to counter perk.
If you wanna reply like this to others people issues take in mind people can do it too.
Btw im not even joking I have never had an issue with OC skillchecks they are not hard in the slightest, maybe if you drop frames but notmally they are as hard as looting a chest.

yeah but what im saying is killers can just load in as Skull Merchant with a few select perks and do nothing to win, they are not beating the other team in PvP, they are exploiting. You can't beat a cheater under normal circumstances. And yes it is an exploit, because I highly doubt the devs intended for the skull merchant to hold a game for a whole hour.
If that can be clasified as an exploit then looping is an exploit since devs have repeatedly mentioned how it was born as something unintentional, as well as any creative way to use a killers power that deviates from using it without any creativity, pig dashes on loop are an exploit, hillbilly curving is an exploit, sadako condemn is an exploit, trapper and demo using their portals/traps to bait people into flashy saves is also an exploit since that is not the intendednpurpose of the power.
I hate skull merchants 3 gen as much as the next guy but this is an awfull way to define exploit, or a good one if you wanna consider any interesting way of playing to be exploiting.
-
Depends on RNG and most survivors are not good enough to hit great skillchecks consistently, which is also the only reason hearhead is balanced, why use a perk that only works at random?

I was just saying it's ironic and it's funny. You have to remember new players picking up a Killer for the first time will likely on have their perks to work with, so if their personal perks don't work with their power or are even a hinderance then it's bad for those players
This is why Sadako and Pinhead likely do so well, their teachables are insanely good for new players.
Nah I was messing with you, yes its kinda funny but then again skullmerchant's mechanics and poer are funny as a whole.

The only similarity they have is their eye shape, and even that is a little off as SM’s eyes are angled differently. It makes no sense to use the facial structure of a male to model a female character unless they’re siblings. We know behavior can be lazy, but claiming they look alike comes off as nit-picky and makes it seem like you’re itching for things to complain about.
No I mean legit look at the face models, either they are very similar or one was modeled after the other, not even lying look at the head model of both, there is even a video comparing them.
And regarding why use another character's model, you dont only use it if they are siblings, you can use it to save yourself some modeling fees, its easier to work on something that already exists than something new.

This pretty much sums it up.
Eruption was good when you play Killer but I have no hard feeling letting it go because as a survivor it was just infuriating. We did not notice it because it was sleeping for the most part because Ruin and Pop were just everywhere and people had no desire to try other things.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3347506#Comment_3347506
You think so?
For me at least PainRes, Jolt, Call of Brine and Deadlock are quit serious slowdown perks with PainRes/DMS still being one of the best combos to run when you have no other idea.
Only Thana, Dying Light and Ruin are in a bad spot when you use them alone. Pop, Merciless and Gift of Pain are okay when they fit into the build (Merciless is quit strong on Doctor) and Overcharge demolishes the medium-good survivor.
There is enough slowdown in the game that is playable for me.
DMS is useless unless you can actually interrupt thr survivor on the gen, you can just let go before pain res procs and you do not have to worry about it.

That's not her lore at all, lol, she became a killer because she's a sadistic stalker who wanted to rid herself of corporate competition and then gained a taste for doing it. One of the cooler killer backstories in a while, as far as I'm concerned.
I think it's fine she took some inspiration from her father's manga, I think that's a neat detail.
Even tho he is awfully wrong about her lore, her backstory is awfull, its as bland as it gets, tricker looks goffy as hell but his lore shows his psycopathic nature and his development as a seria killer, her lore has her development in one line of text which says she enjoyed killing one man with the claw(they don't even explain where the tech cane from or if she made it or anything), also they could have taked such a good approach describing hiw she enjoyed taking thr skulls of her victims and using them in their drones but they didn't, its a very lazy lore from a lot of perspectives.
Also even her model is mediocre, its literally trickster.
-
Thing is and this is coming from a very biased killer main, you can a 100% still win without gen regression or using awfull regression like pop, why is that? Because wether you like to admit it or not most survivors are really bad at the game, hell people somehow manage to go down in less than a minute against m1 killers, I play a joke killer (slinger) addonless and the only regression I use is pop, I still win a fair amount of matches, because im skilled? Because slinger is good? Because pop is good? Hell nah, because my opponenets are playing incredibly bad, people still manage to get snipe by slinger LMAO.
TLDT: this is a hard cap, most survivors are so bad even trapless trapper can seem as a good killer.

I mean, yeah its less effective but it still gives you the information.
I wouldn't consider it a dead perk.
I just didn't see how the HUD was to blame, thats all
Tinkerer is absolutely a dead perk, there is no reason to run it when better undetectable and info perks are at your disposal, no decent player will get surprised by tinkerer and on the killers that can get to the gen on time before it pops, there are way better alternatives.
-
@egg_ said:

?
Old pop + old pr meant 40% progress gone. Apply that with OC (that got buffed) + CoB regression means that a gen would go 99% -> 0 in a matter of seconds, considering the survivor would be pushed away from it and chased so they wouldn't be able to stop the regression.
Old pop in current meta would be a huge problem, and it situationally still is equally strong, aka on gens with a lot of progress. The only difference is that you now can't mindlessly pop a gen with 30% progress and have it completely nullified
As someone who actually uses pop on my builds, the first part is completely true, old pop along with the new regression could be horrible, however the second part is a hard cap, I have played with pop a lot and it is in no way a strong perk, even on high progress gens the 22.5% regression is not even noticeable compared to the gen progress a survivor can do while their team mate is being chased and the time it takes to get to the gen, saying new pop is strong has to be ironic, thats ehy I use it because I like to use memey offmeta stuff.

What? How? That doesn't make sense.
Also, are you saying that tinkerer was always a dead perk against a SWF then?
Altho OPs point isnt valid imo, tinkerer was useless against swf, like always, you can just call out that the killer lost his tr or that you gen is close to 70%, idk how this is a rare thing to know.

I truly believe its a good approach that behavior is taking with regression from current rather than total progress. And hopefully they do it with pain res as well.
Killers complain about one perk, dh. While survivors complain about not just eruption. But the gen kicking regression builds that we see time and time again consisting of the same 4 gen regression build perks like eruption, pain res, cob, overcharge that stacks and constantly being used.
I truly believe eruption being gutted and changed into an info perk will finally take it out of the gen kick builds and into aura reading builds which i prefer more.
People told me I was crazy when I said pain res what the next perk to be asked to be nerfed, and I love you so much for proving them wrong. Its a start at the very least.

Nightfall and being able to recharge your power every 5 seconds turns any loop into a 50/50. Mixed with pretty good mobility, and he is definitely nothing to brush off
Idk ill have to take your opinion for it since at least in my experience a dredge on nightfall is no more dangerous than he is outside of it, the game is darker and thats all you can still waste his time in a loop to make nightfall run out.
-
@Shroompy said:
Honestly I think this perk will be fine as is. Sure they nuked it, but literally any logical change would of been a nuke with how strong it was
I see Eruption working on killers that can snowball really well like Oni, Billy or Dredge. Dredge I can imagine will thrive with it since his snowball potential comes from Nightfall, which makes one of the best snowballing perks in the game Infectious Fright not work. This also goes for any killer with a shorter TR.
Eruption will definitely still have its place in the meta, it just wont be nearly as oppressive or irritating
If you let a dredge which is basically an m1 killer snowball your team you have a very big skill issue, oni, billy, blight, nurse and huntress I get, but who gets snowballed by a dredge? You have yo be really bad at looping.
-

I don't think it's fine. Even if Eruption is still usable after the nerfs, the problem is that the community points out a specific issue, and then BHVR goes scorched earth on everything in a five mile radius of said issue. Again.
Idk, most players like that approach, many people will argue new eruption is a very well done change, to this day I have heard many tell me PGTW and ruin are still good and they were OP before, I think most people are happy when things they dont like get nuked, for example I haven't seen a complain about slinger in a while, ya know since he became a meme killer.

How is the overcharge skillcheck hard? Like not even trying to be mean, who misses that? Its literally an easily ignored aspect of the perk, I think I have missed it like 20 times on my lifespan playing dbd and thats when doctor came out.

Umm we can see when someone is being hooked. I'm guessing you don't play survivor. Their aura lights up red just before the hook happens. It gives you enough time to hop off the gen. And if you don't want to rely on the aura, then you hop off the gen when they get picked up. It's different to Eruption because a survivor could hold chase for minutes/multiple gens so you can't just wait around for them to be downed to avoid 25s incapacitation. With PR though, a killer will hook the survivor within a matter of seconds. Or, as most survivor do, you wait for the hook aura and jump off for a second.
Yes, and wasn't this the case with old pain res too? And people asked for it to be nerfed no? Thinking because something has a counter players aren't gonna ask for it to be nerfed to the ground is delusional, people still complained when the scream returned, why complain about that if you can see the aura and avoid the scream? You might not complain but people sure as hell have showed something having a counter doesn't mean people will use the counter, they prefer slowdown like current ruin, you can rid of it 1 minute into the match, and even if you dont you don't even notice it is into play, everything different is annoying, OP, boring and borderline uncounterable.
But eruption did need that nerf, that perk did not have a counter (just for the record)

By that logic, why play anyone but Nurse/Blight?
Dredge isn't my fave killer (of killers with a similar skillset, I prefer Sadako), but I find them fun enough, and not weak by any means.
I'll play at least a few matches as the Dredge every week. Plus Dredge has some great cosmetics.
Not everyone on the community thinks this way, but a large part does, at least for me nurse and blight are fairly common killer, while off meta meme killers are quite rare. So I think my comment on why there are not many players coincides with a feasible reason for it.
-
Why play dredge when better killers are at your disposal?

Just because a perk is used a lot does not mean it needs to be nerfed. See self care. By that logic pain res and call of brine should be nerfed because I see them in nearly all my games as survivor.
I think dead hare is mostly fine maybe a small nerf to make it more balanced but nothing major. Let's not make a survivor perk completely useless and bad (like calm Spirit and pharmacy)
If you really want a meta shake up buff terrible perks instead of nerfing strong ones.
A lot of people complain about CoB and pain res, most of them asking for a nerf tho.
-
@Omans said:
Eruption created arguably the least fun meta the game has ever seen. In no way was the meta 'varied' as you said. It was easily in the top 5 of OP perks ever made.
It being absolutely destroyed like this is not a big deal. In fact, it is a shame it took so long to nerf it. It ruined countless games while being active from when it was buffed until now.
There are hundreds of perks in the game. You'll get over it. You never used it before, and you'll be completely fine never using it again (undoubtedly changing all your loadouts to have the next best perk).
And you are completely wrong about Pain Resonance. There will be no outcry for it to be nerfed because it feels fair to use and is not completely busted like Eruption. Or, if there is the occasional post about it, it will be like Windows of Opporunity posts (the people who complain about it are complete noobs).
So yeah, did they nerf it too hard? Yeah. Is it a big deal? Not even a little bit.
Completely unsurprising topic from this poster, though.
You are delusional if you think pain res is not gonna be the next thing people complain until its useless, unless the new chapter has some incredibly good regression, I expect pain res to get nerfed in the nect midchapter update, maybe deadmans along with it.

I disagree or agree, if we think of bullying as flashlight squads I fully agree with you a good billy will dunk on them always, however if we are talking the bully time of team that has the objective to make the match as miserable as possible while still beating you (they are good), billy will get devoured, he is easy af to counter in most maps and there are certain techs you can do to mess with his power and stress him, seen a ton of comp billies get eaten alive by good teams.
