horrible meme pallet inside one of the houses

Really? I thought you knew that it was actually the most powerful pallet in the game. Just like the other two you told me about.

hahaha. it definitely on the power level of that one rpd pallet across from locker room and the upstair Hawkins pallet. You're right though I truly forgotten my ways...It undeed a god pallet if u know how to time it!!

Do you use meta perks to try to win, and try hard? Or do you come up with fun builds to play for fun? Or meme builds which can fall under the second thing I guess lol just curious how many people play like I do.

Most killers i play come equip with 3 builds. A meta build, a chill build, and a meme/gimmick build. I'll usually stick to the chill & meme ones....but the opposition been extra sweaty lately. I value synergy of perks/addons over raw power naturally leading to more diverse builds. My main goal is a change in play style when i use a different build so I don't get bored. C

To all the people complaining about people being aggressive with the buffed DS, they could've been aggressive prior to the buff as well you know, they only buffed it by 2 seconds.

Besides, if they are in your face constantly then they are off generators, more pressure for you.

DS is necessary evil unfortunately. It annoying seeing a survivor running behind you with protection but what can you really do. Tunnel have definitely slowdown from what i can see so it during it job

Coldwind Farm has become killer-sided overall since the Maps usually feature huge Deadzones nowadays. Survivors who burn Coldwind-Offerings actually hurt their team more than they benefit them.

We will see Haddonfield-Offerings used by Killers in the upcoming weeks.

i will never understand why survivors would send themselves to a farm map knowing u can get rancid abattoir. Haddonfield is still a deadzone in the street but they move the building closer so u can enter them easier. Most of the pallets that got added was fluff. The two terribly weak edge map pallets by the hedges, the horrible meme pallet inside one of the houses, and ok pallet in kitchen of one of the houses. Overall the map is nightmare now when going against an high mobility killer. With that being said the map way better compare to the former. The infinite double windows houses was just free

  • Definitely a bad idea

i would 100% block every single survivor who rage quit when the match is still winnable.

  • I'm seeing nothing but unbreakable and DS in all my killer matches. i don't tunnel much so my results ain't really change but survivors definitely playing quite aggressive with it. Had a team full of DS/flashbang/unbreakable following me the whole game... it was quite terrible. I just hope when i return to solo q the games are actually playable

The hex totem RNG sometimes is very dumb, I mean it's literally appear right next to a gen. Since survivor can make their boon whenever they want, why shouldn't killer be able to? To balance it out, make survivor's boon no sound or make the range of sound smaller. This should encourage both killers and survivors to use hex and boon totem.

Not sure will Behavior ever touch hex perks but this change sound pretty cool.

  • @ember__lol said:

I will die on this hill btw.

Tunneling is good, it forces survivors to improve at their looping skill, i wouldn't be half the survivor i am now If i didn't get tunneled.

You also won't be tunneled as much if you can improve at looping, killers like tunneling weak links, it's smart easy pressure. If your getting tunneled your probably the weak link, or so good the killer has to prove to themselves or you they can down you, in which case you buy loads of time for your team, and if your the weak link you can improve.

Now, i know alot of people rage bc of tunneling and complain it's bad. They have a skill issue and are not willing to forcibly improve themselves at the game. If they get discouraged and uninstall or leave that's shows alot Abt them. They were never worthy of improving.

If you want to improve you will, if you get tunneled all the time you'll want to improve.

Each time a survivor gets tunneled it creates harder survivors for killers to go against.

Tunneling is ultimately incredible for the games health, i know when i first got tunneled i was like "damn, I'm never gonna let this happen again" and i improved and now killers abandon chase with me after 30 seconds and i sit on gens all match because they know I'm good.

Feel free to disagree. But you have to admit i do have a point. Tunneling creates good players

And no. This isn't bait. And no I'm not a killer main (i play both sides evenly)

"Tunneling is ultimately incredible for the games health"

interesting outlook on tunneling but i can't fully agree. Yeah it help some survivors improve but it also ruin the game for newcomers. Probably responsible for many new players quitting the game. Overall my main issue with tunneling isn't how it effect survivors fun but more so how easy it is to do. Such a dominant strategy should actually require skill to utilize but instead any noob can follow behind you and count to 10. The low amount of effort it take compare to the vaule u receive is astronomical. Tunneling circumvent the massive power gap that a strong coordinated 4man has but it way to powerful of weapon for solo q. A lot of tru3ta1ent tunnel babies have been manufactured and design with the thought "i have to tunnel no matter what".

First step don't spawn in on map with a low amount of resources like sanctum or rancid abattoir.😶

2 Into you actually step in the yellow gas yourself just assume they running the wall hack addon. So just be aware of that if u trying mind game at high walls structure.

3 Understand this killer can't be loop. Pre dropping a pallet isn't looping but it the only thing u can do.

I really wish in the future that behavior would actually consider given killers like clown and trickster better counterplay. They not op but it pretty lame going against someone who just nearly unstoppable in chase. All these people complain about nurse but at least she have actual solid counterplay. As u can probably tell i hate going against the clown.

  • ds just got buff and will probably take windows spot as the most use perk! survivors quitting now? The adrenaline nerf is a after thought in comparison

Tunnelling must be less common in Australia because out of those 12 games only 2 tunnelled, and 1 was justified because I ran into them haha.

ahh so pretty much just 1 game. i don't count u running back into the killer as tunneling. My definition of tunneling is very specific and not loose at all. A killer literally dropping everything they during at the moment because they hear the unhook sound and wanna focus u. Maybe i just need to vpn more often

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3706928#Comment_3706928

Australia. From what I can tell, tunnelling is not as common here as it is in American servers which may be the reason.

That number was from a few weeks ago though as I hadn't played in the game in awhile and the size was only 20 games. I did play 12 solo queue games since that comment and escaped 7 times, so 58%. But please remember this was only out of 12 games so it's not representative of much haha.

I do often have shockingly bad teammates and that does drag you down. Pretty much every loss is due to teammates playing poorly rather than the killer outplaying us.

Main thing that helped me though is running Kindred and Deja Vu.

Kindred gives so much information that playing without it is like playing a different game

    • It lets you know if you need to go for a save or stay on your gen
    • It lets you know which gens your teammates are on so you can finish them if they get chased off at any point. Really easy to do now with the HUD
    • Tells you exactly where the killer is and where they are going after a hook AND when they chase someone
    • Most importantly - it gives your teammates all of this when you are hooked. They probably won't use it super efficiently but it does really encourage them to focus gens because they aren't all rushing for the hook

Deja Vu is really good because it helps minimise the time in between repairing gens where you can't locate them. Also helps you to know where NOT to lead the killer by avoiding the most important gens that teammates might be on.

I also use Sprint Burst and Vigil which helps make up for my average looping skills.

Also utilise the HUD as much as possible. With Kindred and some game sense you can get a rough estimate of the killer and teammates locations even when no ones is on the hook for Kindred to activate.

Most importantly though - do gens. If you are on a gen as much as possible and not standing around doing nothing you'll be surprised how fast the game can go.

agree! especially the last part. Do gens as much possible is usually the right call. Also, it absolutely no reason to ever take kinderd off in solo q! like ever. I just ran it for so long i got sick of using it and wanted to try others things. SB and vigil you say? I'll try it out. Tunneling happen about every 3 matches when i play (NA west) so i don't like taking off certain perks like bond and overcome. Find myself having to body block late game often when someone on death hook.

I love when survivors vault spam and click and run up to you because they want to be chased so bad.

I never chase those guys cause chances are if they want to be chased they know what they do so I rather take chase with someone that don't.

Those guys often get super mad in chat when I don't chase then until everyone else is dead

yeah they always get piss when u don't chase them. I will never understand why they make their attentions so obvious.

  • Just imagine if this wasn't a bug tho. The amount of people rushing to defend the fax that victor could be recall quickly is insane. Telling u it possible to reset vs a 150 speed killer who can immediately be on the map lol no. People desperation to maintain power is sickening. It like telling someone ftp/buckle up, old eruption, and background player was fair..... I'm really disappointed

Personally - I hate gen rushing and most blinding strats. And Dead Hard. God, I hate Dead Hard.

dont really got a perk combo in mind that i hate going against but i kinda dislike how committed some survivors are to taunting you. Example ill get smack by a god pallet and they won't even run immediately. They just sit there and stare at you.... like "hey stupid how u get stun there lol". Same thing when u swing at window and miss! they run right back up to the window and just look at you. Sometimes shaking there heads which admittedly can be funny. Fast vaulting windows/pallets repeatedly after u had to drop chase. Don't get me started on flashlight clickers! I get it you really want to proc that DS but leave me alone please

Yeah I agree with that! Clown isn’t even good but he just feels boring and annoying to play against because there’s nothing else to do but pre-drop and hold w.

Freddy is another killer that I don’t like playing against because he’s just so uninteractive. He’s got next to no power yet he’s just so boring whether awake or asleep. Which sucks because it’s Freddy Krueger!

I don’t mind the Knight too much so long as they don’t just drop a guard in a loop you can’t run away from. It’s kind of fun when they aim to play more strategic or when you manage to avoid the Knight and the guard. Sadly the drop guard and run strat is the best way to play him :(

Freddy just so dull to go against 🤣🤣. knight not bad! i just don't like being force to run from every loop with no other options. The knight can be super interesting! especially when he don't have line of sight on you. Every once in while u get the right set up with the right line of sight blockage to be able to misdirect the knight. For example in most main building there some furniture, structure, or random object u can loop on inside. knight put a guard on you, you run inside main, big brain 4d chess knight go around for the classic pincer maneuver. Obviously he can't see u around these big buildings so he relying on the guard to tell what direction your going. As the guard chase u loop around a near by structure inside. Allowing u a chance to change the direction before reaching the knight so u don't run into him (possibly even returning to the orginal position for the flag).

I think one thing that would encourage many players (especially newer players) to try some of the lesser seen members of the cast would be to maybe try a scaling blood point slider on how often a killer is seen. Either that or some of the lesser played Killers in the cast could be placed into a pool where each week 3 get swapped in for a bonus and they rotate in and out accordingly.

What are your thoughts on this idea? Do you think it would benefit the gameplay, or just lead to a lot of people throwing matches for the sake of grinding? I think it could result in more killer variety among matches, without being such a massive incentive that everyone hops in.

i really like that idea. Can add some much needed variety

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

That’s funny because Blight, Slinger, Dredge, and Chucky are some of my favourite killers to face!

Killers I hate playing against the most are Plague, Hag, and Skull Merchant.

Blight and slinger very fun. Infact most killers are even fun or i can respect the skill it take to use them. slinger, huntress, unknown hitting crazy shots how can i be mad? wesker, demo, billy, power accelerate them in one direction giving u room to dodge sound like lovely time. ArielAriel deniers who force u to leave the loop or get injure like knight, skull merchant, artist.... i don't like going up against that type of thing but intertwining Loops can at least stall them. The killers i dislike are the ones with nearly no counterplay. clown a perfect example! Endless bottles so he's nearly invigorated the whole chase, while keeping u slow... forcing u to pre drop nearly everything. Terrible design in my opinion! u can't even get around most loops more than once most of the time. You don't have to even be accurate with his bottles at all.

My conclusion is matchmaking decide your fate rather than your own skill.

I have been trying to wrap my head around this exact feeling for quite some time now.

I don't know if it is Patrick's comments in a developer stream years ago that tore down the veil of matchmaking for me, or if DBD's matchmaking system is just fundamentally different than other PvP games, but any influence I previously believed I had over the outcome of a trial has been completed decimated.

The realization that all this time there has been a false sense of player agency has completely shattered my trust in online gaming.

"The realization that all this time there has been a false sense of player agency has completely shattered my trust in online gaming."

Really i gotta see that stream. I feel like it just a dbd thing tho honestly. Your carrying potential outside of looping is just very low as a single survivor. The killer must be willing to over committ to chasing which is terrible. You don't wanna rely on your opposition making terrible decisions to be able to carry. Nurse blight billy (plenty other killers as well) can all dominate off of skill, a good 4 man swf can dominate off of gen efficiency, coordination, or perk synergies (they also tend to be good loopers). Still tho even in a swf a individual capability to carry by themselves is extremely low. Like what can you do as a Survivor to carry with your own skill that don't rely on specific scenario! like being in the right spot for a flashlight save that can be easily avoided by a wall?

    My experience:

40% of games are matchmaking losses where your only hope is hatch because one or two teammates are completely dysfunctional relative to the killer.

Another 40% of games are matchmaking wins where the killer is way out of their depth and d/cs half the time.

The remaining 20% are actual toss ups that could go either way.

We need more of the 20% and fewer contrived wins and losses, even it means waiting in queue another 30 seconds (the horror).

yeah! way to many matches are decided 1 to 2 minutes in. i think Behavior hesitant on increasing the queue time because players was complaining when survivor queue was long before . Of course this was all pre 6.1

At the bare minimum the matchmaking should stop pairing players with 70 hours in game against 1500 hours players. It just st setting people up to fail

  • knight feel unplayable without the map so I'll go with him

SImple question....why do you stand right neat hatch? Why do you just stand there you found hatch just go in. "Because I won and you lost." You were hooked, you've been injured and barely tried protecting your own teammates you rescued them but while I was like not even two centimeters away(for the American readers you don't know that's extremely short) so why are you teabagging hatch I'm not bothering to go near you because guess what I don't care this more me asking why not just go in. "Because I wanna give you BP." Hmmm doubt definitely doubt your going to go in by the time I make it to hatch no survivor ever just gives the killer BP. I won't lie...I would enjoy if they brought back the grab animation for hatch just so those way to overconfident players get their dreams crushed. I won't lie I only made this because I had to wait about four minutes while an Ada stood on hatch I broke some walls and pallets and just remained on the edge of the map your not really wasting my time but also yours and your SWF if their wanting to move on the next match.

I've been tracking nearly 100 games now and my escape rate is 30.5%. It feels impossible to escape if a killer is trying to win and when it happens it just feels like luck or they weren't trying.

30% is definitely normal. DC s easily make the 40% average win rate way lower

after otz did his 300 games solo q run and only got a 40% excape rate i decided to do my own.! after weeks i got to 198 games and stop it there (to frustrated). I got over 15 hatch escapes which i won't factor into the score because it a draw mmr wise. A magic hole opening up in the ground after the team got destroy never felt like a win anyway.

rerecord was 75-123. 37.88% excape rate

My conclusion is matchmaking decide your fate rather than your own skill. You being a good looper feel irrelevant because a chase can be drop and a weak link can be focus. Maybe after the DS buff that might change but probably not. Tested many different builds and by FAR gen rushing builds had the best win rates. I think it also clear that most survivors don't play killer much. Teammates will constantly ask for heals under hooks, constantly double gens (not always a bad thing), and constantly focus the wrong gens. I just don't see the appeal of playing a mode that almost guarantee you losses. DBD is excellent for giving new players the horror vibe but for more experience survivors who wanna play more competitively it pretty bad. I find killer way more enjoyable

I've been letting you do all the talking for me for months now XD

@Iron_Cutlass to answer your question, I feel like the forums are dead. For many months I thought I was shadow banned—so many of my comments get 0 replies and 0 upvotes. I'm pretty stubborn, and I'm prone to overdramatization for literary effect, so I've also considered tons of users have blocked me.

I'm definitely not a bait poster, but I'm not afraid to defend some hot takes, so it's surprising how little engagement I've been seeing.

  • The forums question is interesting and i kinda think @WolfyWood is right. It handful of people posting the same messages over and over. I like to think of the forums as masterfully ongoing story crafted by C3tooth. You got your establish main cast consisting generalV, Reinami, Nazzzak, pulsar, etc (can't name them all). You got strong side characters who usually mind their business but still post frequently enough like iron cutlass, blighteddolphin, Raccoon, count in the fog, etc. Usually the antagonist of the season is a new account who posting 20 threads a week and wilding out nonstop (skill issues, Professor dunwich, more recently camper_villain).

  • Unlike ftp/buckle these perk have high pick rates and way easier to use (both top 20 on nightligh if u care about that)

Yeah u might be right. I've been apart of plenty swfs and it always a blast. They all eventually die out in a couple months tho as no one get online. My experience is the same, and my escape rate has been on the same downward trajectory since update 6.1.

I like to joke that you're supposed to get more skilled at games the longer you play, but I seem to be going backward and apparently lose skill the more I play.

The matchmaking is a weird one because I feel like once upon a time I was matched up with people on my same level in solo queue. Now it feels like matchmaking purely revolves around the killer's MMR. Like the killer will ready up and the game will then put the team together and ensure it consists of a couple survivors on the killer's level and a couple on a lower level (ie the weak link/s). I could be way off but I just don't know why else so many solo survivors feel so incredibly mismatched with some of their team mates, and why a game's outcome seem to be decided by whoever gets found first - if a less experienced survivor is found, it's usually game over. More experienced survivor found first gives the team a fighting chance. But you can usually predict how a game will go early on. It never used to be like that.

"I like to joke that you're supposed to get more skilled at games the longer you play, but I seem to be going backward and apparently lose skill the more I play."

🤣lol it definitely feel that way right! Your skill just seem irrelevant in solo q.... teammates/matchmaking and how the killer is playing seem to steer the match completely. Your killer mmr theory don't seem to off. There's always at least one player on the team who have no business being there. I dodge low level prestiges like the plague. It coUld bE a prestige 100 playing a different character. DONT MATTER! that a risk I'm not taking. Yeah Prestige don't equal skill but it do show you know the basics. I had enough matches with noobs indulging themselves on dull totems. I'm gonna go by what i can see and careless about the backfill problems it cause. The Matchmaking don't care about my experience clearly so why should i give a flying $hit about others? Sad that it came down to this but you need to be completely ruthless to even have a chance at a normal game.

also I'm not saying high prestiges can't be terrible because half of them are.

  • @Azulra said:

So, as we all know, Sole Survivor isn't exactly that great of a perk due to not only how it behaves with needing teammates to die for it to work, but also because of its effect not being the greatest. Because of this I thought of a tweak for the perk that would make it actually somewhat more useful.

Currently, when you become the last survivor Sole Survivor gives you two different effects which are "Increases your Repair speed by +75 %" and "Increases your Gate and Hatch Opening speeds by +50 %."

The tweak I thought of is to transfer the generator repair speed bonus onto the token system that the perk uses instead of requiring you to be the last survivor. The way it would work is slightly more complex than normal, but for a reason.

Tweak: Each time a survivor dies Sole Survivor receives a token. Each token adds a +5% bonus to repair speed and acts as a multiplier to Sole Survivor's bonus repair speed buff effect.

    How the tokens work:

1 Token = +5% repair speed bonus with a 1X multiplier totaling at +5%(this is when there are 3 survivors remaining in the trial including the perk holder)

2 Tokens = +10% repair speed bonus with 2X multiplier totaling at +20%(this is when there are 2 survivors remaining in the trial including the perk holder)

3 Tokens = +15% repair speed bonus with a 3X multiplier totaling at +45%(this is when there is 1 survivor remaining in the trial which is the perk holder)

Of course, this is primarily a rough draft in a sort of way and would likely require some number/value changes, but I think this would be one of the best way to change this perk to be more worthwhile since that current +75% repair speed bonus for being the last survivor in the trial just isn't exactly helpful since you'll likely be looking for the hatch or a gate at that point rather than working on a generator.

according to nightlight solo survivor got the highest win rate out of any perk. it might be op hehehe

  • It unspoken rules that must uphold.

If you only play 13 games in a whole week, and you get paired with survivors with less than 500 hours, it sounds like a case of either you play in a region at times there aren't alot of players (especially if the killer has much more hours) or your MMR is just not too high.

And just to be certain, what is your win condition? Because escape rates and win rates are not the same thing, I can die and the 3 others get out and that feels like a win, or my team gets slaughtered and I escape in the hatch, that doesn't feel like a win to me.

If you don't want to stick the games out to record the survival rates of your team, that's fine, I imagine it could be tedious. Just thought I'd ask.

my win condition is escaping through the gates via all gens being completed. hatch/afk killers/farmers don't count. I could be low mmr like u said but we will never know. Behavior should consider showing players their mmr so people can finally understand where they rank. If my mmr was truly low than i wouldn't have any right to complain about my teammates but instead we are left in the dark.

"If you don't want to stick the games out to record the survival rates of your team, that's fine, I imagine it could be tedious. Just thought I'd ask" i never stick around to see but i could start too

  • yeah the current background player make flashligh, bangs, and pallet save a bit easy. They should've just gave the speed to the survivor getting unhook for anti tunnel protection like the community was suggesting

I've been tracking my escape rate. Over the past 64 games it's 30.3%. In so many games someone dcs and those games don't even get added in the stats which is why devs say the escape rate is 40%. I'm on the verge of being done with this game unless they make changes because this is just too discouraging to even try anymore.

    it been 30%

They just dont include the DC'S which happen all the time. my win rate went from 45% to 40% to 35% throughout the year. My kill rate always remain at 80% but now i don't even use tactics (sometimes 3 gen still). I don't think killers are op or nothing but the matchmaking have made the solo q skill expression pointless. I play 13 games last week and in half them i took the killer on a 2 to 3 gens chases. Won 3 out of 10 because teammates die immediately. check they profile and realize i can't even blame teammates! matchmaking pairing u with people who have 100 to 300 hours vs 4 digit hours killer constantly. Literally giving them tunnel food on a silver platter. The whole meta base on capitalizing on weak links and matchmaking guarantee easy targets so pop go the weasel can infinitely proc. There's no way to carry as a Survivor cuz the killer could just drop chase but it many ways to lose off one weak survivor. Huge issue! Your skill level rarely reflect your team level in solo queue.
