If there's one thing I think we can all agree on in just about any game we play, it's that being stunned and not being able to move is generally not fun. Head On is simply an annoying perk that doesn't really have a counter and can give you a free stun, outside of baiting it out. Even then due to dedicated servers your killer hitbox can easily be hit or even if you swing at them when they're out of the locker, you still eat a stun because of dedicated servers, too, in the same way a grab doesn't always give you a grab and they get away. So no, I wouldn't really say it's always "easily avoided" and I wouldn't call it fun for anyone but a survivor, which is par for the course these days :)
Does the perk in general bother me? Not really at all, no. No one complains about head on when there's DH/DS/BT
Uh yes it does have a counter. Iron Maiden.

I'd rather have all toolboxes + Addons that have generator repair speed severely reduced if not removed and replaced with a new mechanic. Games need to be more consistent with game speed so BHVR can adjust the game accordingly.
Not until they start looking at kill rushing pink add ons. They already nerfed bnps and insta heals. Killers already have the upper hand items/add on wise bc they can see when survs grab toolboxes or flashlights and change their build accordingly. Survs go in blind every time. Know what its like bringing a nice purple medkit and then its plague with a pink mori?

This is no bait and i'm talking about reworking, not nerfing.
Did all the killer mains from the steam forums invade this place?
They realized their steam forums was just an echo chamber of crying so they flooded reddit and here bc survs arent allowed to have any opinion that benefits them at all.

I don't often play ruin but having it available for the 4 man swf that I encounter nonstop for hours helped
This is just a lie. I do not encounter swfs every game and when I do most of them are not impossible. Not at all. And when I solo the queues for surv are faaar quicker. In solo the games almost always end in an early 4k. But that's fair apparently. Grow up. Its embarrassing how killers think they are the only ones having a difficult time on dbd. Talk about bias.
Dbd wont die and new, less entitled killers will come. Know how I know? Bc killer used to be waaay harder. Stop trying to hop the killer victim train. It already left and is way gone. Stop thinking its still 2017.

I reaaally want Samara from The Ring but I'd love to see The Grudge as well. A killer that crawls low to the ground would be so creepy. Sorry pig but you just look cute.

As a survivor, I always go for the middle gens first anyways to prevent the 3 gen, so when someone uses corrupt intervention I just laugh and go "Cool, a killer with only 3 perks."
It also pretty much lets you know which direction the killer is going to be coming from so you can hide from them easier.
Corrupt Intervention has its uses of course (y'know, like not having one or two generators pop before you can physically walk to the other side of the map), but for how I play with always immediately seeking out the middle most gens, it unfortunately does very little.
"A killer with only 3 perks" yeah this is exactly what I think when I see CI lol
-
Never felt the impact of CI. Killers usually rush to the other side of the map per usual, get in chase and the others do gens unless they lack total awareness of what's going on. The more killers use CI the more survs will learn to counter it. Like a 3gen. You cant pressure gens and survs unless they go down by the gens like potatoes. Perk totally relies on survs being stupid.

But if you listen to them, they say Survivor Mains constantly cry and whine to cause the Devs to back peddle on Survivor nerfs or Killer buffs while demanding other Survivors buffs and Killer nerfs.
Then a Killer nerf happens (whether I agree or not on it) and we see the very thing happen... except it's not the Survivors throwing a massive fit... it's the Killer Mains.
BL gets nerfed, instant heals get nerfed, Sabotage got killed, Mettle died, EGT is in favor of Killers, L4D shirt got nerfed, gen time increase, less pallets, window block, longer gen and gate times, DS nerfed/reworked, Survivors can't see perks of Killer when killed, Survivors can't find out the profile of Killer before a match, more hooks, SC nerfs, moon offerings removed, Hag buffs, Freddy buffs, Trapper buffs, Wraith buffs, stealth Killer buffs, Swamp rework/shrunk, Badham rework with better totem spots, etc.
Ruin nerfed.
Killer Mains used Outrage.
Obviously some of the Survivor listed is older, but it's interesting to see a Killer perk nerfed and see a complete denial of all the Survivor nerfs/Killer buffs over the years with about 10x the amount of anger and call for strikes... while still pretending that only Survivors cry and whine.
Its incredible really. You have to be so blinded by bias to not see the massive amount of nerfs survs have gotten. Many very healthy nerfs. No outrage from survs. Killers will never ever be happy and will never ever address their own issues. They aggressively justified face camping with traps under hooks and body blocking the basement stairs for easy hostage scenarios. They will forever play the victim card bc the game USED to be super surv sided. That has changed. But theyll never accept it. Killers never listen to survs. They only care about their side. That is clear.

When sounds are functional, a good killer (with good headphones) will always hear footsteps and regular breathing, so even Iron Will isn't a counter. The way to "counter" her is still simply guessing right every time, which is bad especially considering the guessing games are always in her favor. The only way to reliably beat a good Spirit is by getting a big map and spreading out. All the changes gave us was punishing bad Spirits more imo.
When sounds are broken she just feels like garbage to play which is obviously also really bad.
Object of obsession is really good against her but that's it. The guessing game or mind games are way in her favor and killers cant seem to grasp that at all. Stealth is strong against her but good luck finding a spirit without radar perks.
Her sound does seem to be buggy a lot though I always bring Stridor so idk. Some days I can hear survs breathing and other days I cant lol.

Quite true, when i first started i had the game on release, immediately got 4 survivors going through windows, i couldnt do anything so i dropped the game for nearly a year, and now after all the changes and having to constantly fight for a more fair setup, killers finally only have to deal with one or two god loops that killers cant do anything about as well as massive maps that make low mobility killers have a bad time, 3/5ths of the generators able to be done by first chase and so on. Yeah things are "better" but now that we got a legitimate way to deal with survivors, now the complaints are " BURT MUH HEALZ ARENT INSTANT, CURMPIN TOO STRONK, WHY AM I BEING TUNNELED PPLLLLZZZ NUUURRRFF"
TLDR Fankly im fine with most changes but dont say "hey be grateful things arent as bad as they used to be" as an excuse because everyone can do it.
It's not excuse. Its proof the devs have come a long way in nerfing survivors but killers ignore it and act like they only get nerfs and have no issues on their side. It's simply not true. Sorry the devs arent rushing to balance the game around the wraith mains. Killers are 3.5king on average as said by the devs stats. But well conveniently ignore that? The first killer mains asked for so much less and got so much more and now I literally see killers ask everything a surv has to be nerfed. Talk about spoiled.

And why is that? BHVR making a perk that outright encourages 3genning isn't a cause for concern to you? It is for me, I mean, the last time I checked most people didn't enjoy going against hostage killers.
4k surv main here. Countering 3 gens is not that hard. If you 3 gen yourself by the totem well...you kinda deserve it. But I rarely get into 3 gen situations or killers who camp the same 3 gens all game. It happens rare enough that it's actually kinda fun and tense and something different when it does happen.
I actually like the new ruin. The devs needed to trash old ruin. The perk is super bipolar and used by every single killer. Now they can see how bad the gen rush really is and the average kill rate without it and rework gens accordingly rather than force killers to bring an rng/inconsistent perk forever. I'm so sick of old ruin. It's just an annoying thing to deal with every. single. game. And its boring af bringing it as killer. I hope the game gets balanced without it and if it does I guarentee nobody will miss it. Have some patience.

Nurse, Oni, Legion, and Spirit all gutted. Freddy nerfed. Doctor nerfed, Ruin beaten, burned, disembowled, drawn and quartered, then fed to the sharks.
Balanced landing, slight nerf. Oh yeah, I can really feel the survivors pain.
Spirit was not gutted at all. Did you really only rely on beads or collision with her? Shes still broken and easy to 4k with without ruin or pop. I hope she gets nerfed so I dont feel ashamed of using her. Oni got his flick back and the ptb killers playing him liked him. Freddy gets more kills than even spirit now. So again. Wrong. Legion was totally broken and poorly designed. They had to gut him. Why would you allow a poor mechanic to continue to be used? Bias? I'm sure theyll rework him like they did freddy.
If you think BL is the only nerf survivors have gotten this year you clearly arent paying any attention at all. If you think spirits nerf was impactful at all you werent good with her to begin with. If you think leaving nurse to be god like tier forever was okay, you're clearly bias.

So you bring in experienced players to test changes aimed at new survivors.... The doctor changes are so not what's causing this outrage. I like you, I feel like you're at least trying to get the community to see your side, but the actions of the dev team speak way louder than any words you can say.
It's showing an extreme bias towards survivors. Everything about this patch is all about making it more fun for survivors at the expense of your killers. You can say it's not the case all day long, that you're committed to both sides, but your actions say otherwise. Killer can still be looped for days against competent survivors, the maps are still too big for 115% killers, the nerfs are all against killers, the bug fixes are all aimed at survivor bugs, and now both doc and ruin are being nerfed for survivor enjoyment.
If you can't step back and see that, you're either blind, lying, or stupid.
Never mind the countless surv nerfs they have received over the least year.

If they release a statement saying they are happy with the changes and expect outrage for it, and then keep the changes, how is this not ignoring feedback. This was done with nurse, spirit, legion, and now ruin. Not once have k seem the devs scale back changes from the ptb into the actual game. Also, it's very hard to have faith in internal tests. I'm not accusing them if being dishonest, but there is a lack of transparency that is concerning.
Spirit was barely touched but ok
-
This gave me a chuckle. I need to start playing hag again. I get stressed but she can be loads of fun
-
Never used ruin consistently. 2kd on average as myers in 2017 without it. Never ever used it or needed it on Spirit. Surveillance is where it's at.
-
As if killers cant and dont play toxic and use frustrating game strategies. You say you're new. Played surv for awhile yet? I can bully survs much worse than a few flashlight clicks. Heck, I can equip Spirit and be ultra toxic, bm and 4k if I really wanted to. You dont know what toxicity is son.
-
But there is a counter. Slug, down the rescuer or dont tunnel. If the chase was long you only have to slug for a few seconds longer. If you downed him immediately you can slug and bait other survs into attempting to pick him up. Clearly it was not the devs intention to allow killers to easily rehook survs the second they get off. Fix cheap hook tunneling and then we can nerf ds. Killers tunnel for free. Survivors require a perk to counter it a lot of the time.
This idea that killers have no room to work around ds is silly. Killers get around it in my games all the time. Half the time I don't even get to use it.
Ds is poor in that it is a bandaid but this entire game is covered in bandaids on all sides. You cant nerf ds without nerfing other things acting like theres no blatant issues survivors have to deal with too.
Camping and tunneling should be situational and require strategy, not a guarantee for free hooks.
-
@TheNHK32 said:
I never understood why ds is considered an anti tunnel perk. Wouldnt it make you want to tunnel them even more after the 5s stun? and the fact that they are most likely a 1 shot? If im not running an obsession perk and there is an obsession i just slug them. In the rare chance someone gets a ds off on me i then actually tunnel them because nobody likes DS.
Sometimes you will continue to be tunneled. More often than not I do get away after a d strike. Many team mates will help get you away as well. But if the killer does continue tunneling me, hes just wasted a lot of time and I now get to waste more of it. It penalizes killers going for cheap shots at the hook. Either I waste more of his time depending on how good he is in chase or I get away. Just depends.
-
@Pulsar said:
It is supposed to be anti-tunnel.
The Killer should NOT be punished by a Survivor's bad plays. Neither of the above examples are tunneling.
You just seem to want to give Survivor's a second chance after they make a bad play.
Killers have plenty of insta down options. If you camp, it's not hard to force a trade off. Why shouldn't survivors get sec chances to make up for it when you have noed, make your choice, 1 hit down chainsaws and add ons? Only killers are allowed to have second chances huh?
Tunneling is easy and cheap and the hooked surv has no say in how they are saved/farmed. Killers should not be able to put someone straight back on the hook without a fight. Any half decent killer can camp and secure a solid 2k just by afking at the hooks before survs complete all gens.
Like tunneling is hard and involves big brain plays and shouldn't need a counter lol.
-
@Negi said:
The reason most people even ran it was to soft counter DS. Without that it's pretty nonexistent, and if you see it you know Spirit Fury is coming.
I get the reasoning for it because it would belittle any stun based perks like head-on but at the same time it destroyed its most common use and this is why DS is so rampant and a problem nowadays.
Ds is rampant bc tunneling is rampant. Seems fair to me.
-
The problem is killer mains dont realize how much time it takes to find every totem. This is also highly dependent on the map. Youre essentially asking every solo surv to look around the entire map for a perk you dont know the killer will have. Red rank killers do put on a lot of pressure these days. There isnt like this ton of time to go casually totem hunting. Small game helps you learn the spawns but I still found myself wasting a lot of time going around looking for them and it sucked to bring such a boring perk every game. Survivors should be able to see how many totems are on the map and receive a little sound notification of where the totem was broken. This would close the swf/solo information gap a bit too.
I find forcing survs to do a second objective for a single perk every game is pretty ridiculous and can be a nightmare on some maps. Looking for totems vs doing gens can quickly end in a loss bc the survs werent pressuring the gens enough.
-
Dont tunnel then? If you chased them for a while their ds should almost be timed out anyways. If you travel back to the hook a lot then use make your choice. If you camp, it's pretty easy to down the rescuer and force a trade off. Camping and tunneling is very strong and easy to do. It deserves a strong counter. Camping and tunneling tend to go hand in hand so yes, it was designed to also counter camping.
-
Idk, are they gunna fix camping?
-
@Endstille said:
Legion is by far the weakest killer in the game, you might as well play any other 115% movement killer that has a power that can actually help in some way. The power of legion remains useless.
His power reveals survivors close to him and then gives him free hits. Put on slow down perks like sloppy and you've got injured survs with only 1 hit needed for most of the game. I've gone up against plenty of good red rank legions. Hes not amazing but he can definately be effective in the right hands.
-
If I'm constantly waving as soon as I'm hooked, I'm trying to say I'm being camped. If I sit there for a bit and then wave a couple of times it means help, nobody is coming.

When are DC bans going to be reset?
I'll keep it brief, but i heard that the bans are going to be reset every rank reset (E.G if you DC upto a ban of 60 mins, if you want to avoid being banned for 120 mins/ whatever the next interval is, when does that reset so that if you were to DC again it would go back to the starting 1 min.)
I think that having it at rank reset is an extremely irritating suggestion, with the game in its buggiest form i've EVER seen (literally can't go more than 3 games without a game breaking bug, and the game lately has been the laggiest piece of [BAD WORD] i've ever seen (no it's not just my connection, i talk to people i play with after every game and they agree it's always laggy af in oceanic servers rn), I was hoping to hear 'the bans will be reset every few days/ week', but due to what im assuming is a mostly European/ American playerbase, it will most likely be in their ballpark for what they deem as fair.
TL:DR I'm all for the penalty of DCING, so long as it's more of a 'no you've dc'd, take a break mate' instead of a 'whats that? you dc'd 6 times in the past month? Nah mate sorry but all those hours you've put in this game, yeah they're gone, [BAD WORD] off'
Theres no way it lasts til rank reset. Yeah you cant last an hr or 2 without crashing. Besides the test is only for a few days?

imo biggest strenght of SWF is not in voicecoms (like most ppl will cry about here, just give them a minute) but you most of the time will have 4 decent survivors so you wont have random running it down, or suiciding on 1st hook
and tbh thats main reason why i play swf just to not have random in team that will solo throw the game xd (i play without comms)
so its not like SWF is strong, not having survivor or 2 that will throw game is strong
edit: and most of the time when i play soloQ and play with 3 decent survs, we're getting called "SWF" just because we're decent and can coop
Exactly what I say but killer mains think it's the free "bond" and for some reason they think every swf has a ooo player spotting killer entire game like we dont know if hes in chase or not anyways lol.

Amazing confidence in your programmers, that for the first time, the got it right and couldn't possibly have made a mistake in their programming.
Instantly accusing your customers of being dishonest or going absolute "that's not possible" mode is the last thing you should be doing with all things considered. Didn't even make a recommendation to use the bug reporting feature so the devs could look into it. Just "nope, that didnt happen, our game would never do that"
Additionally, if you experience any issues with this test (e.g. Skipping straight to a longer penalty after one disconnect), please let us know roughly when it happened. Someone from BHVR will contact you through a private message in order to investigate further.
Thanks!

"scratch marks are invisible because of all the foliage"
That's from my first post.
Maps should have structures and line of sight breakers. There's a difference between that and as I said survivors being able to crouch so that you can't see them right in front of you; I shouldn't have to trip on them to know they're there. The combination of the darkness and the amount of foliage is a problem.
Disappearing in the environment due to a lack of color contrast is not stealth. I play stealth as survivor, I duck behind structures, I quietly hop windows, I keep track of the killer's FoV so that I remain out of sight. That requires me to actively stealth; crouching and disappearing so that the killer looks right at me and doesn't see me... well, in that scenario I'm not doing anything, the map is doing all the work.
Nobody is disappearing into the environment. Survivors should be allowed to actually hide. If you are in chase, you have scratch marks. It is the killers job to accurately track survivors. That's what the scratch marks are for. Indoor maps make it nearly impossible to juke showing crystal clear scratch makes. I can say that as a spirit main. One heavily stealth map is not a problem. It gives variety. Again, I dont see killers complaining about completely breaking stealth all together as gf or wraith. If scratch marks are invisible and bugged that's another issue all together. If pretty clear the devs make killer sided and survivor sided maps and some imbetween. Survivors should be allowed to enjoy stealth. Saying they crouch and disappear is a gross exaggeration. And that was not your first post. You can see mine literally above it.
-
@TragicSolitude said:

Scratch marks should be visible. The survivors aren't doing anything special with their scratch marks; the map is doing all the work by hiding the scratch marks in the first place. Survivors shouldn't be able to crouch and disappear when I'm looking right at them. That's not stealth; that's broken. On top of all that, there's no way to work around the frame drops.
Ok then fix the scratch marks. You only complained about darkness and foliage. Survivors shouldn't be forced to play in the wide open on every single map when half the killers now completely break all stealth. I guess its only okay for killers to totally break stealth and enjoy stealth gameplay?
-
@TragicSolitude said:
The new map looks cool but as killer it is too dark with too much foliage and too many obstacles, survivors can crouch in front of you and disappear.
Spirit feels like she hits a wall when coming out of phase, and her lunge is messed up.
Oni is clunky on console; trying to use his power punishes me more than the survivors. Struggling with him is one thing, but add to that losing survivors because the game drops frames or the maps are too dark or scratch marks are invisible because of all the foliage, or survivors are faster than the killer because of a speed glitch, and it ends with having survivors teabag in the exit gate... it feels like it's not worth bothering to play killer. Oni looked fun in the PTB, so how he is on console is disappointing.
I do like the new Kindred and No One Left Behind.
How dare survivors be allowed to stealth and juke and force killers to actually have to look and track survivors!
