So you're saying the majority of killers camp and tunnel? Ok buddy
Before DS became what it is today, absolutely. Used to be a lot of face campers too when you could block the unhook prompt. Lot of killers argued that was fair before it finally got fixed btw lol. Kind of sad how many killer players thought that was acceptable.

I have to completely disagree. I would like to know why you think so, however.
https://youtu.be/Q_Vx89p1HAc?t=62
From 1:02 to the end is the section I'm choosing to talk about as one example of good sound design. The brass lick that gets added just prior to the 1:02 timestamp adds a significant level of tension rise, but the way the entire pattern gets elevated into the chase music at the end of the video is wonderfully designed. The music conveys a sense of uneasiness and urgency tied to a need to escape to end the music and return to a less energetic level.
DbD's soundtrack (and I'm addressing terror radius/chase music here) is crafted so that the survivors are assisted through sounds in determining the amount of tension involved in a particular activity in relation to the killer. DbD's chase music was not designed for a leisurely 5 minute chase where both parties chill to some music before getting annoyed by hitboxes and animations that don't line up at all, and it shouldn't seek to disregard the desire for survivors to escape chase (as some do) rather than revel in it and elongate it.
Deathslinger's and Doctor's chase musics and terror radii are two of the worst in the game due to how slow their motif repetitions are compared to everyone else's. In addition, neither of them have the immediate unease factor for newer players, people who don't play DbD, or people who pay very close attention to this game's music. The comment I received from one person that I'd asked was "It's a slow motion movie" in regards to Doctor's chase music, and that I think encapsulates a major issue I have with those two killers' musics; they simply aren't fast enough to accommodate for character movement speeds and the pace of the game when chase or stealth occurs.
I dont mind the original heart beat theme (I'm actually really liking Billy's but boo nobody is playing him and maybe I'm just desperate lol) but I still dont find it, unsettling? Theres also a lot of play time in dbd where there is just no music to fill in the mood. When I'm on gens, running for a save, even just sitting in lobby. These are all times the dev's should be creating a disturbing mood via music and you get barely anything. Hardly any atmospheric sounds for most maps either. I strongly believe horror relies a lot on music and atmospheric sounds and dbd really only has that one heartbeat theme lol. And ya the DS and Dr themes are pretty awful. I love horror soundtracks so maybe I'm just very picky.

Solo players are selfish just because they don't play in swf? hot take, a dumb one at that.

Solo survivors aren't always selfish, but you'd be right probably 75% of the time, at least speaking from the experience I've had in Solo q. I can say with some confidence that a lot of solo players don't know or care about safe unhooks, I've been unhooked many times while in the killers TR and the survivor that does the unhook isn't running BT. It gets very frustrating because they unhook, run off, watch me get downed, unhook again while the killer is just starting to leave and boom, I'm dead. It sucks for me, but sucks more for the rest of the team having to be down a survivor just because some dumb dumb didn't know or care about when to unhook and when not to.
No obviously I dont mean all. But most players will not got out of their way to help you escape like your friends will. Whether its bc they dont care or dont have the skill and experience to deal with campy saves and what not. Even something as simple as body blocking to prevent a down is something many randoms wont do. The overall quality of survivor team mates has only gone down since I started playing in 2017. Or maybe it's just survivor was much easier back then. Either way, it's a horrible issue that honestly gives killers a huge advantage in solo matches.

It's working great so far for me!
Lol well it's not working for most of us. Maybe you're just more of a casual player who doesnt mind the imbalanced MM in the first place?
-
I agree I think itd be nice. One public chat box and one private chat for the survivors. The issue though is the dev's probably dont want players making plans to farm. I also dont want to underestimate players ability to use the function to be even more toxic to eachother. I'm sure many would use the chat to taunt eachother before the game even starts. But it would be nice if we could all chat and maybe set up interesting games like you do in kyfs.
-
Anyone who thinks solo surv is playable probably crouches until everyone dies and hops in hatch. Solo players are selfish. Players that dont want to work as a team or cant because they dont know how are boring and unfun to be in matches with. This is why swf is fun. Voice coms have little to do with it. Playing without voice can be really fun if you have good team mates. I can depend on my friends. They know how to run, juke, stealth, save, not waste time healing every time they are injured....
Idk why its controversial to say I want to play with team mates that are at my skill level. No more no less. It's not fun knowing in solo if I want to escape I basically have to play selfishly bc ik the moment I'm on the hook I'm at the mercy of bad players. Ik lots of killers like playing against selfish, clueless randos so they can tunnel them to death and then come for me when they've wasted all the pallets... but uh, it ain't for me.

Lol probably a very small few using this cheat. I never see survivors dodging or putting on these hard counter builds. I've had two survs tell me it's so and so over the past few months and that was it. Sometimes you get unlucky. This exploit is way overblown. A very select few are using it and the more you post about it the more survivors are going to figure it out.

Not really, defeats the pressure of EGC and has no downside to doing so
EGC was to help with the issue of survivors hiding and crouching, doing totems, saving hooks... when they game should end. Not force survivors to leave so you can have an easier time camping someone to death. You literally have the option to open them yourself so i dont understand how it isnt fair?
-
@chase131119 said:

noed does not need any changes. its the only second chance killer perk while survivors might as well have only second chance perks.
ds shouldnt be removed, its just not used as a anti tunnel perk. thats the problem with it. if ds was used as a anti tunnel perk id be okay with it. however it is not used as a anti tunnel perk. people use it as a 60 second invincibility which is not okay. honestly i feel like this rework describes what i want ds to be
if a survivor with ds active touches a gen, totem, gets healed, another survivor gets hooked, or u jump in a locker then ds deactivates. ds has a 30 second timer but lasts forever when in a chase. this way itd actually be used as a anti tunnel perk and id be perfectly fine with it.
"Only one sec chance perk" you have killer powers that insta down survivors. You have multiple perks that have insta down abilities.
Please, plenty of ways killers cut survivors health in half.

NOED acts as a perk to punish survivors who want to rush the game and not do bones at all. A lot of times the killer isn't even running NOED but the idea that it might be there is powerful, and encourages wasting some time on totems.
DS acts as a tunneling prevention perk, a lot of times the survivor won't even have DS and the killer still slugs for 60s or just goes for the unhooker. The idea that DS is there is powerful
Imagine if DS or NOED weren't there
Survivors wouldn't give 2 shlts about bones games would go in like 4 minutes
Killers would just tunnel you off the hook and make it a 1v3 at 3 gens.
"bUt wHAt iF i aM oN mIDwICH!!?!"
Midwich got the totem spots right
Take some time to watch a vid on all totem spots on the map it won't be an issue in no time, there's like one of these for each map.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icop4YE3q0U
'bUt, iF thEY jUmp iN lOckER!"
Eat the DS, or just leave the man alone. Just go for the unhooker in the first place and this wouldn't be a problem at all, they fixed BT for a reason.
I mean its almost always better to rush gens then to waste entire minutes looking for totems on the off chance the killer has noed. This game is a race and youd be fooling yourself if you think survivors have plenty of time to spare against a good killer. Especially with randos.
The only time I waste time looking for totems is if it's an easy map to find them all or if the killer is indicating he has it (obviously bad, playing a killer that typically uses it) the perk is just not common enough at red ranks and it's better to eat Noed then die looking for every totem. Noed is crutchy bc it means you cant pressure gens or survivors. Not much a surv can do if you're camping and tunneling them. That's why ds exists. Survivors on the hook deserve a chance to escape after being unhooked.

wow....hating on the original (not including everything post-Doctor rework) soundtracks. I could understand if we're talking about the atrocious Deathslinger music or Doctor's ill-fitted chase music, but I can't agree with you on anything else.
Sorry, Dbds soundtrack is incredibly boring, unimaginative and definately not scary. Music is everything when you want to create a spooky mood and dbd miserably fails in this area.

Billy will be nerfed, despite criticism. The main hillbillys will move to Oni.
I'm a surv main and so are most of my friends. Nobody I know wants these changes to go through. Billy is too strong in the games current state but this was overkill and honestly after spirit and oni gained popularity billy is rarely used, and almost never used well at that. I'd rather they nerf oni and spirit than billy. I miss playing against billys... I see hags and myers more than Billy's these days!
-
I've said this many times. But the dev's dont want to fix it. For some reason they are dead set on making solo surv communicationless so we can be immersed in bad graphics and lackluster soundtracks.
-
Farming was fun when I was 100hrs in. Farming was okay 1000hrs in maybe. 5k hours in I will instantly leave the match if a farming killer refuses to kill me. You have to really suck as killer to need to farm considering how many more points you make compared to survivors.
-
It really depends. If you stay predictable and tunnel one player hard all match everyone knows exactly what you're doing. They are on gens and if just one player has d strike or borrowed time and you end up losing that surv you spent a good junk chasing, camping and tunneling? You're about to lose pretty bad. And at most, get 2 kills. Tunneling and camping that hard only works if survs aren't rushing gens and successfully saving the hooked surv.
A good killer knows when to tunnel and when to pressure gens imo. Even if you're a LF, you're going to secure 1 maybe 2 dead survs by just standing there unless you're just playing against a really incompetent team.

Thats the same thing people said when MGLA was doing Killer Block Lists by type... "no one is using this"
Sure thing, until devs had to step in and say "yeah, thats not cool, it exists" and banned MGLA, no idea on the current state, but back then when BBQ Billy came out, if you played him, you were put on the block list that was shared by a third party app and would indicate the killer you were versing was blocked.... hence leave lobby.
Sure it doesnt exist, just like MGLA d block lists didnt exist, until they existed lol
Mlga simply showed ping and if you had the killer blocked or not. You know, so they can dodge toxic players the same way killers dodge for whatever reason they like? It didnt show what killer you played, perks, profile. Just ping. Sorry but not the same thing at all.

If you read my entire post you would understand that survivors in pre-game lobby right now can tell what killer they are going against before the match starts. With that knowledge you can plan your perks around the killer, and still last second item swap.
You think its fair for a trapper to load into a match where no survivors are using items, then last second you have a key, a map, and two toolboxes with BNP on them, giving the killer no time to adjust?
No they dont? Why is this hack being mentioned constantly? I've yet to meet a single surv that's doing this. Stop acting like every surv is doing this.
-
@ggezbaby said:
Let me preface this by saying: I understand the reason for the killer lock. I understand it's so high rank players can practice as new killers against a fair survivor lobby. This is all understood.
Now, to my point: If killers have to have a load out ready before even searching for a match, so should survivors. There is absolutely no reason survivors shouldnt also be locked into their choices. If you have any legit reasons, I'd be happy to hear you out.
But why is it okay for a survivor to have the opportunity to last second a key but the killer has no choice but to stay or lobby dodge? Theres no reason why I, a rank one survivor, can wait until the very last second of lobby time to switch to a key or some other item, while killers are locked into their killer choice.
If the devs plan on keeping the killer lock, a survivor lock definitely needs to be looked at and implemented for the sake of balance. If not, good job continuing to kill a great game by implementing further ways to ruin the killer experience.
And if you're a killer main and you're cool with this change, good for you man but its important to take everyone's opinion into account, and in my opinion, it's bad.
Why? It's not like survs can see what you are bringing like the killer does. Just bc wah that's not fair? Please lol.

-
Spirit is broken bc she has information to use against you and the survivor has zip. She needs to give off more hints to where she is.
-
This change will hurt new surv players more than anything. Imagine Truetalent using a new r20 killer and the amount of new players he'll destroy in the process. Just bc a killer is new doesnt mean a killer main doesnt already know how to run tiles and mind game his power.

-
This whole thing in practice is stupid lol wait until you see trutalent wrecking r20s bc "new killer" lol. Unless you're learning nurse, most killers dont need to be set way back to r20 to learn a new killer. You still know how to run tiles, manage map pressure, mind game...while the r20 survivors will know nothing at all. This is one of the dumbest things the dev's have done.

In Low Ranks, Killers immediately tunneling Survivors off hook is a legitimate issue that Decisive can help fix. At high ranks though, Borrowed Time is common and very few Killers hard camp.
At Rank 10, Decisive punishes campers and protects against bad teammates going for unsafe saves. It usually gets picked up by the Killer in the first maybe 15-20 seconds of the timer.
At Rank 1, Decisive prevents Killers from gaining momentum and forces them to slug. If they get stunned, it's usually at the 50-59 second marker or because the Survivor forces a pickup with the locker exploit (no, its not a tech).
Rework the perk.... again. Or just decrease the timer to from 60 seconds to 30-40 seconds. Then it will still punish hard tunneling, but it will be very hard to accidentally pickup Decisive if you're legitimately not tunneling and its just a fast paced game. Or if the Survivors are doing endgame mechanic abuse and getting everyone's Decisive activated so the Killer can't pickup
Killers dont hard camp BC DS exists. That's what it's there for. To make camping and tunneling risky just as Noed creates risk when gen rushing.

Yeah but this is one of the times i think hes just wrong. His argument is essdntially "survivors want to be able to use the skills theyve learned" and by ghat he means looping.
Want to take a wild guess at what the most boring thing in the game is for killers? Running around in circles for 5 mi utes.
What behaviour is doing is creating killers that have different counterplays to their powers, some killers you can loop to ######### like wraith, some killers you have to counter a little more uniquely like Spirit. This keeps the game fresh and different. If every single killer was loopable the way wraith is this game would have died 2 years ago.
Scott's wrong on this, the people that find a killer boring its because they either dont understand the counter to thst killer and are getting waxed all the time, or they understand it really well and dont find it challanging. Either way, so tf what. Its better than every single killer having the same boring ass nascar counter
You gotta be pretty bias to think not a single killer has an issue with balance.

8/20 killers can instadown
4 can insta down forever at base 5 if survs never cleanse.
3 require expensive add ons.
1/5th of the killers can reliabily instadown it isn't as bad as you make it out to be.
I didn't say it was bad I said it was fair. You have plenty of insta down killers and perks to choose from and they are used very frequently at high ranks. If you prefer other killers that's on you not the surv using d strike.

This is an assymetrical game; Survivor perks need to be under 4x as much scrutiny because if a Survivor perk is strong, it can be equipped on FOUR players.
No bc killers have powers and base abilities added to their kit.
-
@Dwinchester said:
The problem is not with strong perks, but how they synergize and how many second chances they offer. Look at killer. Pop and surge don't work together. Spirit fury and enduring are useless without the other. Blocked gens stop regressing. Overcharge doesn't force you to stay at the gen. Forever Freddy and legion were removed.
Dead hard can be reused, but haunted is only good for 60 seconds. Bt has no cool down, but thrilling does. Adrenaline is an exhaustion perk that ignores exhaustion rules.
If these new perks become the meta, it's because they will synergize.
Please. Killers have insta down powers with unlimited use. You making too simple a comparison. Survs using "sec chance" perks is fine bc killers have plenty of perks AND powers that cut survs health state in half.
-
Killers complaining about a pink add on that was completely destroyed by nerfs lol. How many ridiculous pink add ons and moris and S tiers do killers still have? I really wish I preferred playing killer bc winning is far easier and you have far more points to get boosted add ons and offerings.
-
I almost got to 5k hours without ever touching Spine Chill. I always thought of it as a super nooby perk but my friends finally convinced me and I cant take it off. There are so many anti stealth killers and anti stealth perks now. I've always hated Wraith bc he never has to put any effort in finding me and after his buffs he gets a little speed boost essentially getting a free find and free hit. That's annoying af and SC counters that nicely. It also counters several other anti stealth killers now that are commonly used. And great on those sweaty spirits too.
Also loving Kindred since it tells me if a killer, especially a stealthy one, comes at me with bbq. Overall the combo is bringing back a lot of stealth plays back and I love wasting a killers time looking for me and failing to find me.
-
Remember when legacy actually looked good?
-
Omg. Killer mains are so delusional that every nerf to survs is actually, somehow...a buff. I cant anymore. Never mind the fact that solo survs still have to work around a totally broken matchmaking/ranking system. Never mind anytime you bring friends to actually have a chance against sweaty s tiers the killer brings pink add ons and moris.
But killers think moris and insta down add ons are totally fair! Lol cant take any of you seriously anymore. The entitlement of killer mains who use the crying mob of the noob killers who want the game balanced around their r20 leatherfaces to constantly nerf survs is just too painful to read. You guys have proven you'll NEVER be happy. Not even when you've got several s tiers to destroy the vast majority of survs you go up against.... imagine complaining about not getting as many bs shots at windows like you used to. But dont worry, you can still hit through most pallets!
