Only thing i can see being fairly added is callout buttons. Like in dbd mobile you had a button you could hold for a wheel or different default messages to say, thatd pop up next to your portrait on the team hud. Such as "killer is camping" " need healing" "focus on generators" etc, the type of things youd like to tell the team but cant without coms, but without broadcasting everything thats going on.

which would still not compare to comms where people can pin point hex totem locations they see while in chase or say exactly what direction the killer is headed and towards which survivor.

Lately I've seen there's a ton which can be improved in the SoloQ experience, such as the communication with YOUR OWN TEAM. Let's be honest:

    1. It makes no sense I can't even see MY TEAMMATES' auras during the whole game. Whenever I jump into a SoloQ match, the games feels like I am playing a 1v1 against the killer instead of a 4v1, I have no idea where my teammates are and therefore I can't heal without carrying a medic kit (which isn't infinite at all).
    2. There is NO WAY TO COMMUNICATE. It is incredible hard to play this game when I have no information about the killer's location or any other important stuff. What the hell am I suppossed to do in the middle of a chase if I have no information about which zones are unsafe and which zones are safe? Whan can I do against a stealth killer if I have no information about his current location? How can I protect my teammates without chasing them across the map, losing a ton of time, if I can't see their auras nor communicate with them?
    3. The MMR system and the RANK system is simply useless. Why do you guys even wanted to change the RANKS system? In the past it used to work way better than it does nowadays. I am in the lowest rank possible and yet I have to play a match against a killer whose skills aren't in the same level I am playing on. There's no way I am forced to play against The Ghoul using META builds when I am starting at the game and have no knowledge about perks and my teammates are in the same situation than me.

    IMPROVEMENTS:

    1. Make it so I am able to see my teammates auras during the WHOLE game, it is not fair I got to use certain perks to have the information of something as simple as knowing where my teammates are.
    2. Add some kind of communication, such as pre-written messages which I can use by pressing number combinations. ("The killer is…", "The killer has…", "Do not rescue, focus on generators", "I need a heal", "Tank a hit for me", etc etc.)
    3. Remove MMR completely and bring back the old rank system, it was way more effective and didnt force you to play against 5000+ game hours people every match.
    4. Force killers to play as survivor every 3 matches, and so the same mechanic forces survivor to play as killer every 4 matches. This will help killers to be more conscient about how unfunny tunneling and camping actually is, and at the same time it will make the survivor mains realize going as killer is not as easy as they think

i think a big part of the issue is that your under the belief it is a team game…. it is not. it is 4 individual survivors, scored as individuals in regards to MMR, Bloodpoints and Rank badge. There is no team wins/team loses. Each may have individual goals such as escape via hatch, cleanse totems, stun kill, adepts. Even some perks are designed to provide benefit when other players die such as sole survivor. Having no comms just further pushes the concept that there is no team. You think someone going for adept is going to risk their escape for some random player when they can just walk out the gate? not happening.

Having advantages doesnt make them better players. That is obvious.

it doesnt have to make them better players thats the point and in fact makes the situation even worse lol, for example…a bad player who cant loop at all can be carried by SWF on comms by a simple heads up "killer heading your way". This means the bad looper can get a major head start and even be gone from the area by the time the killer gets there and therefore avoiding the need to loop at all. That is obvious.

I know this because i have played in a duo and my duo partner was brand new to the game, the little heads up i was able to give enabled them to casually walk away avoiding any interaction with the killer and allowed them to escape. Without the comms that player would have no idea the stealth killer is on their way to them and would be downed almost instantly.

  • @Dinadin said:

Here we go again penalizing people playing together in a team game. We never get bored of this unreasonable bias.

and this is why the game will never be balanced. people acknowledge that SWF has advantages that solo players do not yet SWF players refuse to accept any penalty for these advantages because it "penalizing people for playing together".

Chaos shuffle should not have dc penalty just as Lights Out and 2v8 they are not main and some killers are so miserable to go against there (like Doctor in Lights Out) that is a valid thing, don't forget that we barely get OTR or DS in random perks mode to counter that and counter slugging too

yes it should have DC penalty, you enter these modes knowing full well what can and probably will happen. If you know you will likely go against a doctor in lights out and dont want to play it then dont join the mode. Its no different to people that complain about tunneling in regular mode, They know what to expect before the match starts so its a risk you take when you start the match. Removing the DC penalty would lead to everyone DCing when they dont like 1 little thing, map, killer, perk load out in chaos shuffle, downed 1st = DC and no one would get a match. Bare in mind, it would be very 1 sided to allow DC for survivors and not killers, it would need to be added to both sides. Good luck getting any match when both sides can DC on a whim.

  • complaining about being tunneled which means your out of the game pretty fast….then saying you want to DC? Maybe use the time being tunneled to practice looping and practice losing line of sight? Wanting to DC when slugged for 4min i understand, it makes sense. But wanting to DC because you cant be bothered to even attempt to out loop the killer and they are not tunneling you out fast enough?

Tunneling is either common as which you are joining matches knowing full well its likely to happen….thats on you. Or tunneling doesnt happen that often so its not a big deal to get tunneled now and then, just get tunneled, better luck next match…no reason to DC.

Long time experienced players tend to not struggle. In fact, when i play killer the experienced players are the ones i don't target via chase but via altruism. They're the ones who stick their necks out for others, and they're the ones who stick around in endgame to try and get everyone out. The newer and less experienced/confident players are the ones who run and take zero risk.

i wouldnt say so, in my experience its the ones that risk saving people end up giving the killer a 3 or 4k in a situation that would have been a 3man out. the experienced ones knows when not to save

Me when I leave my teammates on 1st hook so I get hatch.

    "I have a 90% escape rate"

Like, self reflect a little bit dude. You absolutely should NOT be leaving people on hook to die so you can do gens. Certainly explains some of the comments I've seen.

This is basically the epitome of the issues with Solo Q. One absurdly selfish teammate who refuses to play normally ruins it for everyone.

once again your claim in not playing normally but "normal" by your definition. Even descriptions of the game on steam state players can work as a team OR play selfishly. That it normal.

I don't know if someone who's proudly anti-empathy needs to be lecturing anyone about the concept. An attempt at morals is better than anti-morals.

As previously stated, I understand people play differently to how i play regardless if i agree or even like how they play, my attitude is if it works then good on them

Easy to say this when you're tunneling or letting your teammates die on purpose. This is like saying "I understand some people are considerate of others even if I'm not."  Your method as survivor only works because your teammates don't expect that behavior. If they were all just as devious your matches would be very different.

you say you dont take the game seriously yet your constantly talking about player growth and people winning using a tactic you disagree with…sounds very much like you do take it seriously to even care about player growth and getting better at the game.

I play this game every day so it's logical to try to improve. Otherwise what am I even doing? There's no point in engaging with something this much if I'm just gonna stand around and lose and never change.

But I'm talking more about the ego-driven players who want to feel like their the best players ever by winning a lot yet refusing to learn and cling to anything but the games cheapest tactic. It's not a desire to improve or be skilled, it's a desire to win and convince themselves they're skilled and feed what must be a horribly fragile ego. What's the point of winning by hooking an AFK until they die? What sort of victory is that? All that is is hollow stat padding.

Happy with my own matches as killer, yes, because I don't blame perks or players for my failures. I blame myself (and sometimes the map, a little, but mostly me.) As survivor,  mostly happy as well, but there are still those matches where a low skill killer camps multiple people into second stage or slugs everyone after getting no hooks all match. You shouldn't be able to win by doing basically nothing, even when you were terribly outplayed.

your empathy is based on you would feel, how your moral compass aligns.

I like that you say this like these are my views exclusively but you also are constantly seeing and engaging with people who feel the same way. Anti-tunnel and anti-rat are two of the most common complaints. That corny rulebook joke is a thing for a reason--many people adhere to it.

i have always said if people are not happy with the state of the game, the best thing to do is stop playing and state why you stopped playing

People do this all the time here. I'm sure they do it elsewhere as well. Currently it's the loudest (though not largest) mass that gets listened, which is a cowardly reaction. Most players also aren't engaging with the community. If they quit they'll just quietly walk away. And advocating for people leaving is anti-problem-solving. If you wait until that many people leave you're already screwed. You should fix a problem while people still want your product.

That corny rulebook joke is a joke not because more people adhere to it. Its a joke because how funny it is that people make up rules and expect others to follow them, then get annoyed when people dare not follow these made up rules. Your not the only one that likes to invent rules, there are many people that try to set their own rules, survivors and killers.

As previously stated im happy your happy with your games, im happy with mine too. One day maybe you can be happy for other people that dont follow your views or self-made rules 😊

That explains why you keep defending it.

Leave someone on hook because you wanna rat. Sure.

It actually explains how even long time players can and do fundamentally misunderstand how the game is and even dont fully understand the rules of the game. This also explains how some long time players struggle (not all but there are some).

Fact is, nothing wrong with playing selfishly, nothing wrong with leaving someone on hook to do gens or escape. And It is certainly not griefing or reportable or bannable to not unhook people. If people are truly under the impression leaving people on hook is griefing then thats their flawed incorrect understanding that they should address.

it is not ranked, slowly you got to get that. There is not one singular game that has a ranked mode but NO casual mode and NO a custom lobby isn’t casual mode. YOU GET NO RANK. ALSO unlike in Tournaments, too strong or random stuff doesn’t get banned, so it sure isn’t a ranked mode. Only because you think it is and pretend like it is, it doesn’t mean it is. In every game ppl got much more competitive than it used to be for the sole reason to win. Like come on where is those guys ego if all they care about is to win (like I think nurse or blight wouldn’t get played that much if they wouldn’t be that strong). Do some research atleast, ppl even made third party ranked servers, hmmm I wonder why 🧐 stop being slow in your head and accept the truth instead of „huh what I think has to be right because i think so🤓“ ALSO nobody wants to look for strangers to play a what you call „casual mode“ match and even get no rewards. If I play with/against stranger I want my reward.

if you want rewards with playing with strangers then just do regular mode ranked or not, im not sure what you advocating for exactly…to be able to have easy casual matches that you dont need to try hard to win and get the same rewards as everyone else? you cant have it both ways, you want rewards? earn them by playing in the same pool as people that competing and try hard. you still have the ability to play the game casually, your choice to play it or not…decide if you want casual custom with no rewards or regular mode with rewards.

But in this world, you can simply 'believe' something and apparently it can be considered true. So just believe! :)

Edit update: I said I wasn't going to look it up, but I did. 5.3 was the trapper patch, and it indeed was 5 years ago.

So he has been touched, it has been 5 years, and something I think we can agree on is he needs more love, yes?

ye i wouldnt even consider the little minor updates he has had to be honest. they are so meaningless they are barely noticeable so as good as not being touched. 4 survivors playing on their own will not beat any competent Killer. 4 Survivors playing their own objectives do not beat good Killers. The game is team oriented.

Refusing to unhook or participate in normal gameplay is griefing.

lol sorry but you are flat out wrong, admitting or encouraging griefing is bannable in these forums….i and many others have openly admitted to not unhooking people, finishing the last gen and leaving. i have never been warned regarding this. It would be crazy to get reported because someone didnt unhook lol thats like reporting someone for not healing another player. As long as i am progressing the game and doing the objective then its fair game. Refusing to unhook and tbagging them isnt doing the objective so that would be griefing but leaving them on hook while i do gens isnt. How many people have left others on hook in end game because of camping basement bubba? your seriously saying thats griefing? not a chance.

i seem to be doing just fine playing by my own and have done for years now.

Not gonna dig up dates, but the most recent stuff was Haste when setting traps, Trap spawns were revamped, and I think a few other minor things, but anyway, they were done.

In no way am I saying 'Trapper is fine and these things made him great.' They didn't, they made him better.

    #LeaveEvanAlone

last actual update to involve trapper was about 4 or 5 years ago….meaningless changes at best and considering the game in nearly 10 years old many people have played for years and have never known trapper to be touched.

Rat players should absolutely be addressed. They are absolutely ruining the game by hiding and griefing their teammates.

The game is balanced around 4 Survivors. If it isn't a team game, make it balanced around all Survivors individually.

I can't think of any reason to defend them. I'm sure you can't either, since you seem to be experienced enough to know them well.

there is a difference between hiding and griefing v playing solo/selfishly. someone intentionally ruining the game for someone else is griefing. someone doing the objective and not saving people on the hook and decide to walk out the gate is not greifing….its selfish and essentially screwing over the "team" but thats part of the game.

The game is balanced around 4 survivors….4 individual survivors. The game is balanced around 4 individual survivors….the hatch allows 1 person to escape… there are perks designed around benefiting 1 player at the cost of others such as sole survivor. like i said, MMR, BP, the end match screen is all individual based. Even the objectives can differ per person….escape, escape via hatch, cleanse totems, get a stun. The fact there is no comms to coordinate as a team, There is no team wins or team loses. There is very few things that point to a team.

    "

    "

It is called being on Xbox. It doesn't matter if you are on Anon Mode or not, you can still be seen. There are/were people who would boot me offline if they saw me in their lobby using various tools. I had to be quicker than them, if I left before they saw me, I get to keep my internet on. If I did not, no internet for the next few hours.

How do you propose we address rat players then? People shouldn't be able to hide and boost their winrates by screwing over their team.

i dont think rat players need addressing. Its part of the game that some people can play for themselves. as long as they dont grief or avoid the objective then its all good. As far as boosting win rates by screwing over the team….there is no team. The game is not scored as a team, blood points are not awarded as a team, win rates are not scored as a team. I think if people are expecting a solid team effort from everyone on the team and naively think that everyone is on the same page when half the team might be working on challenges like hatch escape or adepts then thats the fault of the player that believes its a team when its not.

    I didn't say it was a Sable?

I said I wanted an avoid system to avoid those players. Hopefully, if enough people avoid players who leave their teammates to die so they can escape, we will have less of those players.

    i said:

sure but you cant recognise how a player plays based on the character they play or what platform they play on. some people hide their names so they can grief players in matches….some might hide their name to avoid toxic comments on the profile or from being targeted by a griefer. Ping yes, we should all get to see our ping in the lobby imo.

    you then said:

I absolutely can. I had to be able to recognize names and dip out of lobbies quickly, way back when.

And I think DBD should have an avoid system, like Overwatch does. The less rats who hid for Hatch and let their teammates die, the better imo. Eventually, they simply won't be able to play.

So when you said you absolutely can…How? how do you recognise how a player plays based on the character they play or what platform they play on. This is what you said you absolutely can about. i didnt say anything about avoiding player names. Having an avoid system is a different topic, and judging from how the general player base can be, literally everyone would be avoided by everyone and no one would ever get a match.

From my experience, lobby shoppers on the survivor side operate on very simple logic

"Is the ping bad? If yes, dodge"

"If I can't see the hours of one of my teammates, due to private profile - Dodge."

"If I CAN see the hours of my teammates and it's not to my standards - Dodge"

"If I've played with someone in this lobby before and didn't win - Dodge"

These 4 are, in my experience, the biggest reason why people on the survivor side lobby shop. There's some even pettier reasons people do it like if they see a default character, licensed character in the lobby or someone not bringing an item.

indeed and there are a few that take it a step further…

    "no item" dodge

"not on the same platform" dodge

    "sable" dodge

    "standard dwight" dodge

just because of mmr and sbmm it’s not ranked. Look at the black ops games for example, they do mmr and sbmm in their casual modes that affect your rewards, also you can see the stats of your games in that mode too, so by your logic it’s a ranked mode, but what is the mode called ranked mode in the game then, some kind of super ranked mode? You are basically saying because a plane has a motor, tires and windows it’s a car…

This is not black ops, this is dbd, its an asymmetrical 1 v 4 game which makes it unique. saying what other games have is pointless because other games are generally free for all or 4 v 4 or 8 v 8. fact is, you have a casual mode where winning doesnt matter and you can meme around not trying to win….custom. search for SWF players on these forums and you will probably find some that would be willing to play casual easy going matches with you. But when you join the matchmaking q, your in no mans land, anything goes…including sweating and trying hard to win. People play how they want, that might not be how you want to play but thats like going into a ranked match and saying "lets take it easy" then getting annoyed when people play to win.

IDK I kind of preferred the game pre 6.1.0, and the killer queue times were much shorter back then. The game survived on lower kill rates.

Players always adapted to the current meta one way or another but second chance meta has been nerfed over and over, which was the answer to tunneling. We have options but they are nowhere near as strong as they were,

killer times are almost instant for me, survivor times are usually about 10 to 30 seconds. yes the game survived, but player numbers were far lower than they are now, i dont think the business wants to go backwards and start losing players.

Players always adapted yes, they tunnel, slug, camp use whatever op combo of perks and killer they can at the time. like back in the days of 3 gen meta. which is why if they gutted tunneling its possible meta would shift to slugging or something else especially as survivors usually abandon after being downed a couple of times turning them into an easy bot player….not quite as good as tunneling but still.

Oh, you mean people with empathy who don't take games that seriously? Got it.

Who is the killer playerbase? Plenty of killer players weren't dooming and glooming about the changes. The other people were just louder.

I dont know whats happening other people's matches but I've never said hard tunneling is in every match. It is a minority. The issue isnt it's frequency, it's how much you can suck, how inexperienced you can be against someone with 10x the hours, and still get kills or win. It encourages people to stay stuck with an obnoxious tactic instead of learning macro. It's a detriment to player growth and the game's growth.

Maybe you recall there was an excessive stink about a survey. It was survivor-sided for a reason. It's likely survivors who are quiting in a slow trickle instead of some dramatic mass exodus that won't happen.

having empathy and not taking the game too seriously doesnt mean you should look down on people that play the game differently to how you think it should be played. As previously stated, i understand people play differently to how i play regardless if i agree or even like how they play, my attitude is if it works then good on them. your style of play works for you, good on you, im happy your happy with how you do things, thats what its all about, playing in a way that matches our own playstyle. You on the other hand seem to look down on anyone that plays in a way the goes against your made up rulebook. You dont seem to like it, you dont seem to be happy that others are enjoying the game. i could be wrong but thats how you come across.

You claim you have empathy but that empathy is very narrow. your empathy is based on you would feel, how your moral compass aligns. You use this "empathy" to refuse to tunnel because you dont think people should do it, you think it would make them feel awful, yet you dont have empathy for anyone that might go against your beliefs. such as friendly killer? letting someone go? targeting a player just because they havnt been running up to the killers face to try take chase so you havnt seen them? leaving an afk person alone and targeting someone else that might have a challenge to do? looping a killer for 3 or 4 gens? there is no empathy for any of these people, you dont care if they are having fun or not. So your empathy seems to only swing one way, the way you think things should be done.

you say you dont take the game seriously yet your constantly talking about player growth and people winning using a tactic you disagree with…sounds very much like you do take it seriously to even care about player growth and getting better at the game. Someone that doesnt take the game seriously genuinly would care one way or the other if they die, how they die, how people win and certainly wouldnt care about player growth

as for survivor quitting, the numbers dont reflect this, player count is still up and seems to be pretty stable for the past couple years. makes no sense to risk killing off the killer playerbase when the number are still up. if the numbers dropped significantly then there would be a call for changes to get players back but as it stands people are still playing the game so it makes no sense to take such a big risk. i have always said if people are not happy with the state of the game, the best thing to do is stop playing and state why you stopped playing but complaining and still playing the game wont lead to major changes….tweaks here and there yes but not major changes that could kill off an entire role of the game.

  • @cogsturning said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4046006#Comment_4046006

What is a player like me exactly?

when no loop holes exist, no options available then yes i would quit as would everyone else

Speak for yourself. Not everyone needs an exploitable system. The way you play is a minority in both roles, a severe minority for survivor.

you still think all killers would get balanced in a timely manner?

If they weren't sustaining a playerbse, yes, but I don't think nearly so many of these people who screech about quitting actually will. The ability of this community to cry wolf is off the charts.

And as for SM, it's probably also becsuse she was despised. You can be Ghoul and be despised cause you make money, but you can't be non-lucrative and despised.

Luckily this is another dream world and this scenario will never exist.

Two efforts to introduce anti tunnel, slug, and camp have even made. It's perfectly possible it may happen in the future. It's clearly on the radar.

a player that maintains a "moral high ground" and looks down on people that play differently to how they think they should play.

i think the killer playerbase spoke for themselves when they flat out said if the ptb changes went through they would quit the game…that wasnt an idle threat, that was a warning, dont do it or you lose your players.

i minority in both roles? so tunneling as a tactic is a minority? yet plenty claim it happens almost every match to the point they claim its unplayable and getting frustrating, doesnt add up, either its a common case which means my killer playstyle in particular isnt in the minority or it doesnt happen that often and all these people complaining about it being so frequent making the game miserable is just wrong.

Like i said its a good job dbd isnt ran by you, you would take the risk of killing the game thinking people are just threatening to leave, they wont really do it….and when they do….dead game. bhvr luckily has not taken that gamble because its a bad gamble to take lol. makes no sense to kill off the entire killer role to appease a few survivors that slightly unhappy but not unhappy enough to stop playing

I main survivor. And even I load up into every chaos shuffle match fully expecting there to be slugs, running back to hook and tunneling. Because it's chaos shuffle. The killer doesn't have a full slow down build, aura build, a complimentary build to their killer. So they're entire strategy they built around their killer and their unique powers/abilities is gone. Not everybody has the skillset to beat survivors through sheer skill alone on a terrible perk load out. Not everybody has the time or dedication level for that. And I don't expect them to.

What I expect is for killers in shuffle mode to see gens flying (or know they're gonna start flying) and immediately go into catch up mode, running back to hook, tunneling and trying to slug out the match. I ain't even mad anymore. I'm just gonna come in, get my challenges done and get back to playing regular 1v4.

I use to play killer a lot more back in the day. And I cringe when I remember having some difficult matches with survivors bagging, nodding and staring at me over pallets after every missed swing. If I were a killer playing chaos shuffle, with a trash load out and terrible add ons, I'd probably be tempted to run back to hook, too.

indeed, i played a few survivor matches and it is way easier imo… no pain res, no corrupt. Pain res can be annoying when people go down in seconds one after another blowing the gen of the 1 person doing a gen which can be common in soloq. without that to worry about, i have been flying through the gens. i still bring a toolbox and even the worst add ons still mean i can crank gens pretty fast.

If you're that big of a baby about losing matches that you'd immediately quit then idk what to say. You could just maybe try to change your ways and adapt, like survivors have to do every time a new killer is released. Not everyone tunnels, not everyone would be affected. Tunneling will never be removed anyway, but doing it early-game needs to be deincentivized.

SM is a bad example. They'd be working on her if she was making them any money. She's low priority for a reason.

i always adapt, and usually in ways players like you wouldnt like lol. if there is a loop hole, i will find it. cant tunnel? slug. there are many ways of dealing with things, especially with the abandon feature being the way it is. when no loop holes exist, no options available then yes i would quit as would everyone else. SM is a perfect example, money being the hitter right there. the fact that you understand the killer isnt making the money so they are sidelined and not a top priority….you still think all killers would get balanced in a timely manner? nearly 10 years and trapper hasnt been touched. there will always be killers that wont make them money so there will always be killers side-lined which proves my point that bhvr can not succesfully balance each killer before people quit and the game dies. its a death sentence for the game.

Luckily this is another dream world and this scenario will never exist.

difference is no matter what happens there is always a way for the survivor to escape, thats the point to the hatch so no reason to give up other than laziness….

Now turn around and apply that to the Killer. No matter what happens, there's always a way for the Killer to win, so no reason to tunnel other than laziness.

except there isnt always a way for the killer to win, 5 gens done, gates open, 4 hooks spread out…. tunneling at that point is too late. killers tunnels to make sure they win, might be lazy, might be easier but the point is they do it because they are playing the game. survivors giving up is not playing the game. its ok to be lazy and take the easy option if its playing the game. survivors are not doing that by giving up

  • @cogsturning said:

The point is the gen speed argument is garbage, which you are proving with all this. They do it regardless.

If KRs drop, killers can finally get needed adjustments, since the stats are probably horribly inflated by tunneling. It would be the best thing to happen to the game. If people in this community can't handle changes that improve the game overall then they can fly free.

if kill rates drop there wont be killers left to play the game lol look how long it took bhvr to get the balance they wanted, nearly a decade. look how long it takes them to balance 1 killer like skull merchant…. you think they can balance all killers accordingly before people quit? not likely. its a good job your not heading the bhvr dev team thats all i can say lol you would kill the game in 24 hours

  • difference is no matter what happens there is always a way for the survivor to escape, thats the point to the hatch so no reason to give up other than laziness….there is no point in the match for a survivor where all is lost because they can always get the hatch.

killer on the other hand, there is a point of no return where tunneling wont bring it back for the killer…tunnel too late and the damage is done.

Also killers are pre-emptively striking, playing the game with the aim of winning. survivors giving up because its 2 v 1 and 5 gens left? thats not playing the game, thats not aiming to win.

a better comparison would be thats why survivors stealth first because they know what will happen if they dont (they get tunneled)….oh wait, they dont do that lol

They're doing it without gens even getting done. It's automatic. Some people have crutched on this so hard for so long they don't know any other way to play. And 90s is an eternity. If you can't maintain pressure with those long times that's on you.

its called pre-emptive strike, tunnel sooner rather than later, maybe because they know what will happen if they dont? you can say its a crutch but its no different than anything else someone relies on to win, be it perks, tactics, teams, maps even. Even if people have "crutched" on it for so long they dont know any other way to play, to change it now would probably mean so many people wouldnt know how to play…kill rates would likely drop…people would likely leave the game. I think its at the point where this is the game, people tunnel, people loop, people stealth, people camp, people slug, people body block. Taking the attitude of "if you cant maintain pressure in the timeframe thats given thats on you", people can say they same….if you cant counter tunneling then thats on you.

  • @cogsturning said:

This is why the crying about gen speeds is bs. You have a mode where survivors can't bring commodious toolboxes with meta add-ons or gen speed boosting perks and the camping and tunneling are still rampant. Nothing other players do will change these people. It's the game that needs to change.

This says to me that the base gen speed is too fast, when survivors dont have anything to boost gen speeds and killers dont have anything to slow gens down its pretty much all on basekit terms, so if killers still feel they need to tunnel it says a lot about the need for slowing down gens.

Ranked means you get a rank? You don’t get a rank, the „mmr“ that you can’t see yourself is only to have sbmm. Which basically every game does nowadays also in their casual modes just like bf6, bo7 and many more. You get rewards in casual modes in every game?? What are your arguments??? Meme perks shouldn’t exist, that is my point, every perk should atleast have some use. But some perks are even considered killer perks… You literally have nothing to actually see how „good“ you are no elo, no rank no nothing… so it is casual! Custom is a custom mode, it is casual too but it’s completely different hence it’s a private lobby so you can’t say that’s is the casual mode.

by definition the rank would then put people into the same rank as them pretty much what mmr does….you just cant see it. There are many games where there is a casual mode where no matter what you do in that mode it will not effect anything, not your rank, not your mmr, not rewards nothing just like in custom dbd. then they have ranked mode where your win/loss actually makes a difference just like in regular dbd. your rewarded based on performance, the better you do the more rewards you get. put simply my argument is that what your asking for already exists, its called custom mode, look online for people that are willing to play casual custom mode and you have exactly what you want.

technically there is the official dbd stats (although its incorrect)…this does provide your escape rate/kill rate, matches played, things like that which can show how good you are which is probably why they dont count custom matches in the stats.

Normal gameplay devolves into hook farming all the time. 😵

debatable, avoiding the objective is technically reportable, certainly forbidden to encourage on these forums. hook farming could be seen as intentionally getting hooked (go next) which is again forbidden to encourage on these forums.

On that map specifically? Break totems and hook farm. It's incredibly small and incredibly limited, yet somehow still has a hill. 😵 Genuinely not worth the effort at all.

hook farm? meaning? sounds like avoiding the objective and not engaging in normal gameplay to me….

Isn't that the new Eyrie? It's literally the worst map in the game. You're better off not even trying to finish the gens unless the Killer is friendly, in my opinion. Otherwise it's designed to be an easy stomp.

    Hello developers,

I’d like to report an issue that has been making survivor gameplay extremely frustrating and, at times, completely unplayable.

In many matches, killers are leaving survivors slugged on the ground for the entire match, creating an infinite and repetitive cycle. This happens especially often when the killer is playing as The Twins. Other survivors try to help, but end up being downed as well, and when that doesn’t happen, everyone simply bleeds out.

This type of gameplay feels very unhealthy and goes completely against the spirit of the game. It removes interaction, counterplay, and enjoyment from the match.

I kindly ask that the team review matches where this behavior is occurring and give this issue proper attention.

    Thank you for your time.

    abandon?

People love to bring up the "horror" aspect of the game, but only when it would benefit the killer or defend the killer sided 60% kill rate.

Because there's absolutely a horror trope where the survivors, or just the "final girl," kill the killer at the end. In fact, several of the killers in this game have that ending: Xeno, Ghostie, and Nemesis right off the top of my head.

Everyone wants the resident evil rocket launcher, but canonically we'd give it to Leon.

At some point, the "video game" aspect overrides the "it's horror" part.

Most people understand that giving the survivors the ability to kill the killer would probably not be great for gameplay, yet people still want (or expect) to 3k or 4k every match because "it's the horror theme".

3 or 4k every match? no. 3 or 4k most matches? yes. as survivor i want to struggle to survive, as killer i dont want to struggle to get a kill. What i dont want is to be able to win as survivor and see 4 man out being a thing, what i dont want to play killer and struggle to get a kill. This is an asymmetrical horror game, like it or not thats what it is. so its reasonable to apply logic that connects these 2 things. horror being survivors struggle to survive, have a fear of actually dying….asymmetrical being both sides are not equal. yet some people want both sides to be equal and have equal chance of winning

If only you didnt need a tausend plus hours just to even get the basics memorized because of the many maps, tiles, layout, perks, addons, killer powers there is.

Compared to killer where, sure you struggle to use your power, but them killers like kaneki exist, that you barely even need to learn how to effectively play him.

You dont want to pay to play a killer?, dont worry!, you got killers like blight and nurse who barely need any experince to get good (or running aura/anti-loop loadout to make it an auto-pilot).

But im sure requiring survivors more hours and pratice will benefit from the game...and im sure killers wont be whining for more nerfs and "requiring more experince" even if most people knowing about this will just rather play something else entirely.

you dont need many hours to play survivor. to win, maybe but thats the point. survivors should struggle, the game is designed around survivors dying where there could be maybe 1 or 2 to escape. the issue is people expect to play survivor with no experience at all, not struggle and still be able to win v a lethal killer.

as far as S tier killers go, they may be an issue but its an issue caused by SWF. There is a reason why S tier killers are more prominent in the top MMR, They are needed to counter the top SWF teams with swat team coordination and comms. Cant have it both ways, give SWF teams comms which solo dont have and you have to have killers that can compete against them, the result it these killers can be OP v soloq players that dont have the same coordination or comms. There will never be true balance while soloq is denied what SWF has.

Nurse takes barely any experience to get good? Flat out incorrect, nurse is well known to be very OP but takes a lot of time to master.

  • this is the difference between survivor and killer. As a horror game, what sounds more appropriate:

    1. survivors struggle to survive and escape while hunted by a lethal killer
    2. lethal killer struggles to kill before survivors escape.

survivor should be harder, killer should be easier. Anyone picking survivor role should understand this and accept this role for what it is.

you assume i do worse than i admit

    You kinda said it:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2IUSRPTIAIVT/screenshot-20260113-004717.jpg

i often know because there is a pregame chat

People usually say nothing in pregame chat from what I've seen. Are you just interrogating everyone in every lobby?

yet you now say that a good team (2 or 3 strong players) can carry the 1 weaker player.

You can rat your way to a personal escape with any teammates. You're using other people, doing the exact ratting I said partymates don't do, and if they're dying while you manipulate your way to an escape, your team is losing.

i already hit that mark your in as killer long ago. i turned to tunneling which allowed me to win. it only means you lose until it goes down if you impose your own restrictions on yourself and dont adapt to higher levels.

I'd rather work on improving, thanks anyway. It's also a bit hard for me to believe you're in uppermost MMR as killer after seeing that Bubba match.

interesting how you can take a comment without actually providing the context. you assumed before i said that…just because i said i probably do doesnt change the fact the you assumed it originally. you assumption might be correct….just like my assumption might be correct.

again your assuming the rat thing… this player might have 2 hook states already, they might have gone down in seconds because they cant loop, they might have healed, unhooked, done their part for the team but when the killer is busy with the others that weak player that cant loop could finish the last gen and escape off the back of the team. Thats hardly a rat if they are playing as part of the team but they would win not because they are better or even on par with the killer they could be worse but because their team mates are better they would win. Thus raising mmr when they are not good enough to last very long in chase. Thrown them into soloq with team mates of equal level and they might find they cant ride the team to victory.

I have said many times my survivor matches do not match my killer matches. killer matches i was getting 70 to 80% kill rate for well over a year, many of them 4ks. survivor matches i have worked more on challenges where i concentrate on them instead of escaping and i have played in duo with someone pretty new to the game which would have effected things (which is probably why my overall escape rate is about 50% but my monthly escape rate is far higher). Not only that but as we know hatch is neutral mmr so so the mmr climb for survivor would be a slow but more gradual rise killer that would shoot up. Your assuming again….i have never said my survivor is high mmr. Killer side is quite likely high mmr based on the teams i get.

That’s what one should do in ranked, but there literally is only a casual mode, why does everything have to be 100% competitive, that’s some serious ego problem if all you play for is just winning in a casual mode. Secondly it makes the game more boring so you support that only 5% of perks really are getting played and bring the needed value to win?

How is there only casual mode? custom is casual mode where people can play together and not gain rewards. matchmaking is not casual mode, you go up and down in MMR, you gain BP rewards, do challenges, adds to your stats. You may view it as casual but that doesnt make it so, if it was casual there would be no rewards or incentives for winning.

People can bring whatever perks they find useful to their individual playstyle, if they want to compete and play against someone else that wants to compete then yes they should bring whatever perks works for them. If someone wants to play casual and meme around then they can bring whatever perks they choose to, doesnt mean they will win but winnning isnt the reason why they bring meme perks is it so its not a problem if they lose.

There's no skill issue. Tunneling is busted, period. And you've become so reliant on tunneling that it's poisoned your mindset. You won't acknowledge that it's a skill issue, you're not willing to adapt and improve, and you chide Survivors about their made-up rules when you made up the rule that playing in a SWF is considered cheating. If anyone has the double-standard here, it's you.

i did adapt, i learnt the best way to win, can you say the same? have you adapted to counter tunneling like i have? technically swf with comms is using 3rd part apps that are not included in the game so its not doubke standards. But regardless of how i personally feel about SWF, i adpated and i stand toe to toe with them and tunnel. i have no issue as killer or survivor because i have learnt to deal with both sides. have you?

Your the one that has an issue with tunneling, your the one that refuses to bring anti tunnel perks, your the one the streams allowing the killer to potentially stream snipe….you are allowing these things. you cant complain when the issues your having are of your own making. If you have an issue, deal with it, dont complain, dont try enforce rules that you have made up….adapt

again your saying im not willing to improve, you sound like these people i constantly get in matches that just lost and they say "get good"….to which my answer is always "why does the winner need to get good, makes more sense that the ones losing need to get good and improve, not me" if you didnt have an issue then i would say each to their own, we do what works for us but you do have an issue with tunneling and have yet to adapt.

Survivor gameplay isn't Killer gameplay. Using items does not guarantee a win for them like tunneling guarantees a win for Killers, so that's comparing apples to oranges.

If it was just me, you would have a point. But you have people who use all the anti-tunnel perks, and Killers tunnel right through them. That shows how busted tunneling is.

Just think of all the other strong stuff that got nerfed despite all the counterplay. Why did Dead Hard get nerfed? Because it was too strong. Why did MFT get nerfed? Because it was too strong. Why did FTP+Buckle Up get nerfed? Because it was too strong. Why did COH get nerfed? Because it was too strong. All of those had counterplay, but were still too strong to remain in the game as they were.

It's well past time for tunneling to receive the same treatment.

its only not comparable because you say tunneling is guarantee win which it is not or all tunnelers would win every match and i can assure you they dont based on me tunneling as killer and based on killers tunneling in my survivors matches.

At some point people need to acknowledge skill issue….use stealth better.

If the time comes that tunneling is against the rules or gets nerfed to the point its useless (it wont) then your made up rules might have a standing. untill that point, killers will do what they need to do and will not take your rulebook into consideration. Its up to you to adapt, to be prepared to do the things i do, throw out your moral compass and do what you need to do to counter it. Your choice at the end of the day, keep get beaten down by tunnelers or make a stand and adapt. It can be done, im doing it, survivors do it sometimes in my killer matches.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 27
