The bottom line is that there is a lot more than what's in front of you. The fact that you refuse to see the bigger picture is the problem.
i can see the bigger picture. and the bigger picture is removing tunneling will not stop people DCing because people will DC over far more things than just tunneling

Streamers, really? The most performative of all players? You don't think they're not DCing for reasons other then they're saying for an audience?
I've played 206 killler matches in the last 30 days. Out of those, I can recall one start-of-game DC. I was Dredge and the match started with Nightfall. If I had to take a guess, that's likely an accessibility thing, as it's a common complaint with Nightfall. Even if it wasn't, that's the one time. Less than 1%. My other DCs and suicides (and yes, there are a ton of both) are all later game, when it's hopeless. They affect nothing about the outcome and are not for frivolous reasons.
ok so its gone from people DC because of tunneling. when suggested that people admit they DC for silly reasons and not tunneling or not had a bad run of matches then they are saying this not to look weak and now they say it for the audience. realy? even when the people DCing say why they DC you still refuse to accept it lol. you will make any excuse to not see whats in front of you

Yes yes, the internet is known for its honesty.
But are you seriously messaging people through different platform apps to ask them why they DCed?
i dont need to ask, they say without me asking. in game, twitch, youtube, tiktok. the excuses these people come out with for DCing is crazy. one guy in pregame lobby just recently said "steve if you scream i will DC". sure enough he DCed. really? tunneling causes people to DC over that? or should we change steves scream so people like that dont have a reason to DC? People online truly dont care. But if you look on forums like these you get a different picture because people dont admit to these things on here. These forums are not a true reflection of what goes on in matches and why people do the things they do.

People you don't know, who may just be saying something they don't feel. "I hate this map lol later noobs" is more likely than "sorry strangers, but I'm at my breaking point." People hate looking weak. And something tells me your sample size is rather restrictive. You can only communicate with people on your own platform, and even then, it will be limited to who wants to speak, and who even sticks around to do so.
i can communicate with people on various platforms….the people that say their reasons wont admit them in places like these forums because they could get a ban for admitting and promoting unsportsmanlike behaviour. but they will be more honest when they dont have a worry of being banned. People who i dont know are way more likely to not give a hoot what people think about them, they are not thinking "i dont want to look weak infront of these random people"

The theory of people having bad matches which makes them prone to DCing doesnt make sense when people DC at the sight of a very low tier killer that rarely gives people any issues like trapper or wraith or get a map they dont like.
It's not a theory if you play in parties and have them literally tell you the reason. You also know what happened to them in the ten matches before, so you get further context of where their stress level is at. Maybe my buddy got tunneled by three Wraiths in a row, saw a fourth and just couldn't hang. That's the potential context you're missing.
What is a theory is you seeing someone DC and guessing why they did so without any information.
i have already said people have outright said why they DC and its purely because they can. "trapper is boring" is one reason someone gave. really justified in DCing for that reason. the likelihood of being tunneled by a wraith 3 times in a row is very slim so its unrealistic to assume thats the case. blight…yes. ghouls? yes… but 3 of the same low tier killer tunneling the same person out 3 times in a row? come on.

The theory of people having bad matches which makes them prone to DCing doesnt make sense when people DC at the sight of a very low tier killer that rarely gives people any issues like trapper or wraith or get a map they dont like.
If anything, this points to this theory being correct. If they have no reason within that match to DC, then the reason for the DC is outside of it. They've already been pushed to their breaking point, decide to queue up out of habit anyway, get into a match and then realise that they don't have the energy to play anymore.
Have you never launched a game (Not a match, a game) and then once the game's done starting up, realised that you don't have the energy for it? Because I have.
My point is there will always be a reason. if its not constant tunneling its killers they dont like or maps they dont like, or their SWF duo friend was killed, or a team mate blew a gen, they didnt last as long as they wanted to in a chase. These will always be reasons to DC regardless of breaking point or not. like i said, remove tunneling and people will find something else to complain about and DC over. so we remove tunneling and then people start DCing over map layouts…ok change the map layouts to keep them happy so they dont want to DC. Now people lasted 1min in a chase….they wanted to last 5 min not 1min. ok lets make it happen so people wont DC. when does it end? when is it time to say "no, this is the game, play or dont but we are not bowing down to ridiculous requests to stop people DCing anymore."

There was a carrot. Three of them, in fact. Haste, free Pop, and free aura reading on the least hooked survivors.
Also, how would a tool designed to help slugging reduce slugging?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4015361#Comment_4015361
They brazenly say "i dont like this map so not going to bother"
But again, they might've acted differently if they had better match quality surrounding that match.
To assume that that is the entirety of it is naive.
Not long ago before they hid map offerings, there was a couple of SWF teams i regularly went against. these teams would DC in loading screen when they saw an offering they didnt like. they could have brought sac wards but their attitude was "why waste an offering slot when we can DC when we see something we dont like". They had the opportunity and they took it. I recently went against one of these teams since then and it was on a map they didnt like….what happened? 2/3 SWF DC instantly. the 3rd SWF player and solo player went next. Now the offerings have been nerfed and hidden the opportunity to DC penalty free has been reduced but not enough to stop them from DCing over something like a map they dont like.
But you're referring to how many players out of the disconnecters?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4015377#Comment_4015377
And if the PTB changes went live, I literally would have boycotted playing killer. I wouldn’t have cared how the console players felt about the changes, and I would have refused to “try to adapt” to it.
Proving the same point again: Killers can just stomp their feet and demand BHVR balances more harshly in their favour.
i honestly think you should take the rose tinted glasses off lol. They might have acted differently if they didnt have a run of bad matches but if you think removing tunneling will make people suddenly think "iv had a good run of matches, now i have this map i really dont like….i get DC or i can play it….ok i will play it even though i dont really want to." it wont happen. remove tunneling and people will have something else to complain about like op killers that are not really op or map designs that might be slightly less than perfect.
Its amazing how some people refuse to see how humans generally behave. people as a whole will find an excuse to DC, killers or survivors. saying its because they had a bad few matches before hand is just an excuse, one that people will always find to justify DCing when they dont get what they want. if i could DC as killer and not worry so much about a penalty i most certainly would if i got a super SWF squad even once regardless of how my matches were before hand. or if i got a big open spaced map while i was a stealth killer, if i could get away with DCing i would bypass that match in a heartbeat….makes no sense to endure a bad time if i dont have to. This is why survivors DC. yes it has increased since krasue and ghoul have come about but tunneling has always been a thing.
The theory of people having bad matches which makes them prone to DCing doesnt make sense when people DC at the sight of a very low tier killer that rarely gives people any issues like trapper or wraith or get a map they dont like. DCing against ghoul or krasue or blights due to repeatedly having bad matches, yes i understand that reasoning… but people start to lose all credibility for their reasons when they DC over something they havnt previously had issues with.

How are you under the impression that kicking pumpkins takes a great deal of time? It's a like 1.5 second interaction.
Sometimes I feel like I'm playing a completely different game than you people.
- takes longer to find them
- theres more than just 1 to kick especially as there is a challenge to kick 50 of them.
it does seem like your playing a different game because pretty much all survivors in the matches i played were running round like headless chickens looking for pumpkins to kick instead of doing gens. during this time people are looking for pumpkins the killer is prowling around hooking people.
even when i did my challenge and didnt bother doing pumpkins, everyone else was still going for them for the BP and their challenges which means still no gens were getting done….plenty of time for the killer to do whatever they want in or out of the void.

This is the opposite of reality? Going into the void as the killer is a far larger time sink; their time is 4x as valuable as a survivor's. Moreover survivors get an item that directly progresses their objective without any input from them.
with so many people wasting time kicking pumpkins im pretty sure the killer has time to enter the void without any hindrance. yes survivors get an item to do gens for them but one kick of the gen stops that and to even get the crystal survivors have to step into the death trap that is the void. not really worth it for survivor.

Because killers arent held in a match for 4 mins and always move the game by just pushing survivors out.
Comparing 4k slugs to killers getting t-bagged in endgame is like conparing a nuke to a coughing baby.
"I dont want to t-bagged"
I dont want to get tunneled,
I dont want to get humped, just for looping longer than 30s.
I dont want to have 50 s-tier matches in a row.
too bad, you will have to deal with it. Just like survivors get toxicity from killers without a way to escape.
You wont like that answer but its what its designed for, not just to "avoid the toxicity" otherwise the dc button would have no penalty.
i dont have to deal with it because
1.i tunnel and slug and do anything possible to make sure it doesnt happen
2. if i do lose i just go round breaking pallets and walls to gain BP….if survivors want to be petty and try to BM me all they are doing is buying me more time to break pallets.
getting tunneled is a tactic used to win the game….t bagging at the gate doesnt help people win. its purely toxic behaviour that happens all too often and pushes me to play in a way that survivors dont like. if you wonder why killers tunnel so hard for no reason….thats your reason….to make sure people cant tbag at the gate.

See, I don't think this is getting the whole picture.
I don't think anyone logs on, plays a match, and immediately ragequits when they get a map they don't like, or a killer they don't like. I wager it's usually after a couple of matches that already soured the mood that the ragequitting sets in. Someone who's had a match with tunnelling, followed by a Krasue stomp at 4 gens, followed by a slugger, then another tunneller, who then loads into a map or killer they don't like, or they're the first one down, is far more likely to ragequit than someone who's had a clean slate.
People don't come into those matches without any kind of baggage. Fixing problems in matches without ragequits can alleviate ragequitting in other matches.
without knowing the history if these players matches its impossible to know for certain what built up to the ragequit. But based on the attitude of the players that openly admit to DCing and the reasons they DC i dont think its built up. They brazenly say "i dont like this map so not going to bother". Built up frustration doesnt excuse why people DC at the mere sight of a trapper unless trapper is somehow causing major issues for survivors which that would be a first. even with SWF duos, if their buddy gets taken out of the match first, the other often just goes next so they can join up together in another match.
People are opportunists, give them an opportunity to bypass something they dont like no matter how small, they will take it. Which is why so many survivors DC. If killer had the same opportunity to quickly reset the DC penalty and go next, they would take it and DC if they get a map they dont like or they find survivors have perks they dont like.
People here wont admit to the real reasons why they DC and go next because its borderline promoting unsportsmanlike behaviour which is against the forum rules and could result in them being banned, but in the game and on stream they are much more honest and direct regarding why they do things.
Not long ago before they hid map offerings, there was a couple of SWF teams i regularly went against. these teams would DC in loading screen when they saw an offering they didnt like. they could have brought sac wards but their attitude was "why waste an offering slot when we can DC when we see something we dont like". Killers can do exactly what survivors do: give up. I have a ton of suicides in my killer matches. Just got out of one right now where someone did it. I also have killlers who AFK when they're losing, or become friendly. Yet I still see much less of that from killers than I see of survivor suicides, and it's penalty-free.
just because some suicide doesnt mean the killer gets to go next, the killer has 4 people to kill. getting 20 matches where all 4 survivors go next is pretty hard to find.
killers that afk are the killers that would DC if they could get away with it. killer DC twice then has to play 20 matches where the killer has to wait for either survivors to offer themselves to the killer or wait for the gens to be done. compare that to 1min of survivor going next each match. not even remotely the same, thats how survivors are DCing so much, because they can fly through the DC pens like no tomorrow. so no killers cant do what survivors can do.
Make it so killers can kill themselves in 1min to end the match 20 times and earn more pen free DC and i guarantee more killers will DC over anything like survivors do…. bad map? DC. SWF running circles around the killer? DC.

All these people told you this is why they DCed? Because all I ever hear is a whole lot of assumptions.
If this was true, killers should be DCing just as frivolously. Getting juiced? DC. Load into Badham? DC. 3 gens popped with no hooks? DC. Survivors not playing serious? DC. Survivors playing too serious? DC. Mid-chase BMing? DC. Exit gates BMing? DC. Yet killer DCs are much rarer than survivor ones. It's the same playerbase, so why aren't the supposed petty reactions the same? There's this idea that the DCers are doing it all the time. More likely, they're just people who hit their breaking point at that moment. You don't know what happened in the matches before that one. Some are also accidental. I've been booted out before, often at load in—and my teammates probably assumed I didn't like the map. There's also accessibility issues. Sometimes people DC when I'm playing as Spirit or Dredge, probably because of hearing and sight issues, topics that have actually been brought up here before, unlike the post where everyone talked about how they DC if they don't like a map because it never happened.
Griefing is not that common. Working with the killler is something I usually only see if someone is ratting, which means you probably see it a lot more than I do. I've only once had a teammate who worked with the killler from the get-go to actively grief the other three players, and it's because they were tilted about a username. That's one of three matches out of thousands that I recall being griefed for stupid reasons.
a lot of the time they do admit in post match yes or on stream if they are ttv. killers dont DC as much because matches last longer for them so doing 20 matches to reset the DC pens takes a lot longer. killers cant go next and end the match in like 1 or 2min like survivors can. Killers are forced to play out the match because they get hit with the penalty a lot sooner. if killers could reduce that pen fast like survivors do im pretty sure more killers would DC when they get a map they dont like.

Are you a bot or something? You're just ignoring everything and going back to this again. This post is about tunneling and slugging.
I've already expressed my deep indifference to this topic. I don't DC and I also don't care what other people do. Punish them, don't punish them, it doesn't matter to me. This only effects me when multiple opponents DC and now I have to look at the sky why the remaining two unfortunates finish gens.
But if everyone is hungry maybe you should fix the food scarcity issue instead of making the penalty for stealing bread harsher. Killlers don't DC at the rate of survivors, therefore there's an issue amongst survivor players. You can make up whatever reasons you want for why people DC but the core reason is goimg to be mass unhappiness. You don't quit something you're happy with.
And that cycles us back to tunneling and slugging, because those are the issues that appear to cause the most discontent amongst the portion of the playerbase that is vocal about the game. If you really, truly care about DCing (and I don't think you truly do) then you should want changes made to tactics like tunneling and slugging.

If you really, truly care about DCing (and I don't think you truly do) then you should want changes made to tactics like tunneling and slugging.
based on my own experience alone, the vast majority of people DC over the smallest thing. its not tunneling or being slugged, people DC long before it even gets to that point. top reasons for people DCing in my matches are:
- Map they dont like
- killer they dont like
- teammates toxic behaviour
- first time downed
since map offerings have been nerfed and people can no longer DC in loading screen when they see an offering they dont like because they are hidden now, i have noticed a lot more people DCing over maps which are balanced pretty well. These people want survivor sided maps not balanced maps.
People dont like krasue or ghoul so they are the top 2 killers people DC against, however people have been DCing at the sight of a trapper, wraith, huntress, hag, doctor, houndmaster, deathslinger just to name a few…. doesnt matter who the killer is or what tier the killer is, people will DC if they get someone they dont personally want to go against.
there as so many toxic teammates around that will body block, work with the killer, avoid gens, deliberately blow a gen your on. when these people are spotted in a match others are more likely to DC because no one wants to be in a match like that.
many people only enjoy looping and being chased. they can be chased long enough for a gen or 2 to be finshed but the second they are down the fun stops for them. either they dont want to be hooked because its no fun being on the hook or they throw a tantrum because they cant loop the killer all match. either way going down first or even just going down 1 time is enough to make people DC.
All of this happens before a killer has had time to tunnel or slug. im not saying tunneling doesnt contribute to the DCing but the mindset of make people happy so they dont DC will not work unless bhvr provides survivors with
- a map so survivor sided they wont ever want to DC when they get it or a "pick a map" option.
- give survivors a "pick a killer" option so they can hand select what killer they want
- change players behaviours in game
- make the game so survivors cant be downed.
some things can be changed to reduce DCing but at some point people need to accept the game for what it is and need to understand they cant have it exactly the way they want it.

you say seems like your going nowhere but havnt actually said where you want to go. you want escapes? blood points? improve looping skills? make a mockery of the killer? im not sure what it is your looking for.

If all 3 or more survivors abandon the match, the killer should be able to leave the match with a win. The only point to making the killer play out a match against 3-4 bots is that you basically hate your killer player base.
If the other team quits, I win. I should be able to end it when I'm not playing against people anymore.untill they make abandon option for survivors only for matches that have lost with no comeback then they will never implement this. as it stands survivors can abandon over anything like being downed and recovered twice so bhvr wouldnt encourage killers to try to get survivors to abandon for easy wins.

I would prefer a player not be able to dictate when a match is over for other players just by quitting. If you're done - great. Abandon. You're out. Whether someone else is continuing to play has no effect on you. If they're done then, well, they'll leave too. If not then that's up to them.
You know killers earn BP for hooking or performing a mori on the last downed survivor even if that survivor abandoned, yes? That said, I don't think it's about farming BP from the killer anyway.
Like I said though, I'm kind of over even entertaining this as a possibility. No, killers don't get to abandon. I was on board until it became part of the design spec that it absolutely needs to affect other people too.
so in order to get the abandon option for killers we need to have a bot for 1 sec so then survivors can walk out on their own? seems a bit much just for the "match ends when i say it ends" mindset. either way i dont care because as killer i just afk and wait for the timer to count down and as survivor i just leave when the gates are open regardless of whats happening lol. maybe give survivors a 30 sec window to leave of their own accord of get forced out by abandon?
the choice to continue to play doesnt make sense because that choice is removed when the killer hits them out the gate…they either leave or get downed. mid match ye i can understand but not end game when all at the gates. what gameplay can you really have at the gates with a bot?
-
@MDRSan said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4015113#Comment_4015113
So lets go for experience parity then. The moment the last survivor abandons everyone is removed from the match and shown the end screen. Wanted to watch that mori animation? Wanted to actually hook those slugs? Nah, we got places to be and since the last survivor decided the match is over then the killer doesn't get a say.
I was willing to entertain the possibility of a system like this but if asking that it be implemented in a way that doesn't just kick everyone out of a match is too much then no.
i would much prefer the match just ended when survivors abandon. who wants to go round hooking slugged bots? at that point killer won, get it to end screen and move on. if you want to play with bots play custom matches. but when players abandon thats it, match over.
if a bot was to replace the killer when all survivors are at the gate, then what? people would walk an inch to exit the match anyway. why implement a bot when people wont hang around to t bag the bot? based on the fact killers dont farm survivor bots for BP survivors wouldnt use the killer bot for end game BP like they do with a real player so it makes no sense to create a bot for survivors to have no interaction with.
-
personally i would rather the void be a slow motion type of thing for killer and survivor…same speed differences so killer can still catch survivors like normal but the slow down time difference would mean if the killer is spending time in the void survivors have more time to do gens. or make gens go faster when killer enters the void. it does seem a bit harsh that the void offers little to no reward for survivors and is a death trap for survivors but killer can enter worry free and get a significant gain through the ranged phantom attack. there is really no point in the void for a survivor.

A stalemate abandon function intentionally doesn't include a bot because if it did the stalemate could just continue. The design expressly calls for the match to just end.
A system designed to let the killer skip the ECG does not expressly require the match to suddenly end. All it requires is that the killer player can exit the match.
Why do you care if there's a simplistic AFK bot or not? Do you want something more than just being able to leave the match? Why?
Personally I think matches just suddenly ending is an awkward, clumsy, and jolting experience in a match. We shouldn't scope creep the amount of scenarios where this can happen without there being a good reason for it to need to be that way.
i dont care if there is a bot or not im just saying its not needed because when the match is over its over so the argument of denying killer the abandon option purely on the basis that there is no killer bot isnt valid. just like in stalemate conditions, its time to end the match, not prolong it by using a bot to chase people out instead.
as a survivor i dont hang around the gate so bot or no bot makes no difference to me, when the gates are open im outta there. besides, survivors taking 10min to do gens isnt a stalemate because either they avoid gens and get the afk crows or they do the gens slowly and carefully which means the killer will eventually run out of gen kicks. There are mechanics already in place to stop these stalemates happening so the abandon option isnt for that purpose.

Healing,"protection hits" and whiffed m1s at gates dont provide any gameplay value or meaningfull skill expression, basically you want killers to unconsensually waste their time on meaningless "interactions" or straight up bm and be cool about it?
it does seem like some people want to use killers as sort of BP challenge farm regardless how it makes the killer feel…and they wonder why killers have no mercy with tunneling and slugging lol

That's arguably a different situation. The EGC is a normal phase of a match that is intended to happen (provided a 4k doesn't happen beforehand). 10 minutes of the game not progressing isn't the same as 2 minutes of end game collapse which is inherently the game progressing.
Also, consider that the 10 minute, no activity abandon feature is partially there to prevent stalemates from dragging on into hour long matches. It would kind of defeat the point if it didn't end the match in that instance.
true but my point is the argument of "we need a bot if the killer abandons so survivors can do hatch challenges and other end game stuff" is redundant because this situation of instant match ending already exists. 2 v 1 being perfect example where 2 survivors both know they cant do gens especially if they are close together. they hide or do gens very very slowly…10min later…abandon, match over….technically after 10min it could trigger egc but it doesnt. it just ends the match if killer decides to do that.
If survivors want certain challenges such as hatch, totems or whatever else, they wouldnt be waiting at the gate would they? someone going for hatch escape is going to be near a hatch spawn, not the gates. The proposed abandon option for killers is when ALL remaining survivors are at the gate, not hooked, not slugged, not roaming around for the hatch, not in the middle of the map doing a totem. even challenges like escape however many times, why wait at the gate when the challenge is escape? killer abandoning in these situations makes no difference to the survivors or challanges. At most it would put a dampener on the heal x amount of times. But that alone isnt enough of a reason to justify killers being forced to endure tbagging at the gates every time, just heal during the match like normal.
-
my advice is change playstyle, dont need to have a whole build dedicated to play aggressively to get somewhere

Survivors have hatch challenge or some other endgame challenges so no, YOU CAN ABANDON ONLY IF YOU ARE BEING REPLACED BY A KILLER BOT, END OF IT!
is the killer replaced by a bot when they abandon after 10min of no gens being done?

The point is if a player is in a situation in which they feel they have absolutely lost the game
The problem here is the "feel" part. And that's where the slippery slope comes in.
We've already moved from "there's literally nothing, actually nothing, zero you can do to progress the game" to "I can do something, but I don't want to, so let me out".
Which applies to nearly anything. When does the slippery slope stop?
- I'm getting tunneled out, just let me go next. We hard punish this "go next" mentality, but should it just be abandon?
- A gen got completed before first down, should the killer be let out of they feel it's hopeless?
Both of these players "feel" they've got no chance, and the match is over. But that's not necessarily true, and it should be played as far they can.
I don't personally like the option for abandon, but here we are. I feel like posts like this are dangerously close to breaking forum rules about encouraging bad behavior by disconnecting, personally.

This precedent has already been set by survivor abandon options.
- when downed twice and recovered, next time they are downed they can abandon. If this survivor gets recovered again they can continue to play the match, they can even win in many situations but they dont want to so they just abandon.
- even if all survivors have perks to recover from dying state and all downed, they can use these perks, they can continue the match, heal, do gens, unhook. If they dont want to, they dont have to, they can just abandon.
- if all remaining team players are bots, the 1 player can continue the match and win, if they dont want to play out the rest of the match with a killer and a bot or 2 they dont have to….abandon.
All of these situations doesn't necessarily mean the match is over, but it does give survivors a choice. continue if they wish or abandon. many times as killer, people have run to me, i down them they all abandon then suddenly bots use the perks to recover or unhook and im stuck in a match v bots. Im only suggesting 1 of 2 things should happen.
- killer gets the same choice as survivors, if they wish to continue they can. if they dont wish to continue, abandon. OR
- survivor abandons should be fixed so they do the job they were intended for (make a lost match end faster to prevent toxic killers forcing people to wait out 4min). But not so they can be used as a glorified go next system.

Survivors wait at the exit gate to heal other survivors who are still running there. They might be trying to get more BPs because late heals offer a bonus over regular heals. They could also be trying to take a protection hit for another survivor, which also gives them BPs. They could also be wanting to run down the clock so they can squeeze out more XP, since XP is tied to time in the match. They could also be wanting to trigger a basic attack from the killer that'll miss when they exit, since there are quite a few BS Tome challenges where you need to avoid basic attacks as a survivor.
There's a multitude of reasons why survivors wait at the exit gates. If your ego is so fragile that you don't want to walk over to the exit gate and push the survivors out because they might hit their Ctrl button… this might not be the game for you.
Have you tried Animal Crossing or Mario Kart?
yet the killer can abandon after 10min of no gens being done…. how is that any different? people could be going for hatch, looking for totems for bp or challenges, trying to heal but killer can still abandon

If the killer was replaced with a bot, the same way a survivor is replaced with a bot, then I am all for it. If the game just ends, throwing everyone into an end game screen regardless of what they were doing, or where they were, etc. then I disagree. If the same thing happened regardless of who DC's, then I think it would be great, but the same thing doesn't happen, so i don't think it's fair or accurate to say they're the same thing.
- no reason why the killer cant just abandon and the match continue for survivors. bhvr could easily implement this
- This situation thats being discussed is all remaining survivors waiting at the gate after its been opened. if the survivor steps 1M they leave, match ends. they are not going for saves or on hook or getting chased, just sitting at the gate waiting for the killer to hit them out. how is that any different to if the killer abandon and the match ends?
- killer already has 1 abandon feature that abruptly ends the match regardless of what survivors are doing if no gens are completed in 10min. people could be doing totems, doesnt matter, if killer abandons match ends.
While i dont think the onus should be on the killer to abandon in a stalemate where survivors hide avoiding their objective but thats another topic, the fact remains the killer has that option already. its no different to survivors being forced out by hitting them out or being forced out by abandon. if other survivors are no where near the gate then fair enough killer shouldnt be able to abandon but the situation is for when all remaining survivors are at the gate. if people really dont want the match abruptly then give the killer a button to spawn a giant vecna hand that pushes survivors out instead having the killer having to walk to the gates. survivors escape, pick up the win, killer doesnt have to endure the t bag fest.

Grinding the event today just cause and I only DCed once—my first Krasue trial ever and 3 of us were slugged at 5 gens while the Sable hid in a locker. So it checks out. 😵
sables have got it clocked lol i main sable and its exactly what i would do. best chance of escape in that situation is hatch…. or if i really cant be bothered just run out and join the slug party so i can abandon asap

Cause you can force them out. No discussion needed.
survivors can watch the mori… but they get to abandon.
survivors can continue and win the match but if they get downed and recovered twice they can abandon

- No, sorry. Leaving aside the normal queue for a moment, survivors during the events, especially the first few days, do everything except repair generators... trust me.🤣
true, normal mode soloq is bad enough with people doing adepts and tomb challenges instead of gens but events like this people are just doing them for the challenges so gens are not getting done at all. i just had a match v ghoul with full meta build, tunneled and slugged while the whole survivor team were running around kicking pumpkins lol. bit overkill.
people can hate me for it but thats exactly what im doing, running around kicking pumpkins and doing the challenges, im not touching a gen or unhooking. when im done, bye bye god awful mode, hello regular dbd
-
hardly any wonder why the new broken killer was dubbed ghoul 2.0 and why so many people go next and dc at the sight of both killers

Yeah, this challenge is beyond impossible, nobody is entering the void, neither survivors or killers, this challenge has to be reviseted since it's not on your control to complete it, you have to rly on others to do it, which is stupid.
to be fair survivors have a challenge to use void crystal on gens…have to go to the void to get them
other than that, no reason to go in the void really but then again, other than the challenges theres no reason to play the event at all lol

I still like some gambling factor in this game, so want hatch stay. It’s just interesting for me — playing who is gonna be faster, me or survivor. It doesn’t influence on MMR, it doesn’t influence on win condition, so I think hatch should stay, but changed. While wins should be reconsidered and works around team and not personal kills and escapes
the issue is that the hatch doesnt count as a loss when the survivor hasnt done any gens, hasnt unhooked anyone, just been floating around the map potentially being toxic to their team mates by body blocking, take a hatch offering to spawn at shack and its easy escape and they maintain the same mmr for failing the objective of doing gens. Thats my issue with it currently…and it encourages hiding and slugging.
in some ways i do think the win condition should be team based not personal escapes, however, i think it would make escaping soloq matches worse. i like that as a soloq player although somewhat technically reliant on my god awful team that DC and makes silly mistakes or go next, these people dont really effect my games as much because im going for my own escape and i play accordingly. i dread to think if my win condition was based on the team as a whole with the type of team mates i get matched with lol.

the longer they take to fix this killer the more people are going to dc. still every match people will dc v this killer

It doesn't actually end when Survivors abandon though, which is the main difference. Giving Survivors the win in that case would work fine for now, but Killer bots would be the ideal scenario in my opinion.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4014349#Comment_4014349
Because when Killer disconnects now, the trial ends and the Survivors don't win. I don't trust that that system wouldn't be replicated unless we had a bot which would guarantee that Survivors could still escape. Call it personal bias, I guess.
i dont see the difference for the survivor, match ends when they walk an inch out the gate or ends when the killer abandons. either way match ends, survivors won. bots not needed

The main Problem is the unbalance in who can dc at which point.
Don´t understand me wrong, if all Survivors are hooked or slugged it is totaly fine.
But in the last time I get the abbandon Button if I get picked up in the middle of the game?
this is where the abandon feature is getting to be a joke, from what used to be a way to get out of a match that was lost such as all hooked or all downed with no way of recovering to prevent toxic killers from leaving people slugged for 4min. now survivors use the abandon option to avoid watching the mori or hook sequence at the end. last survivor….downed…DC before killer even has a chance to wipe the blade clean. they get downed and healed couple times in the match and they can abandon even though the match is still very much in play. if this is how the abandon feature is going to be then killers should have more than "wait 10min of no gens being done" as an option.
alternatively, bhvr should fix the abandon system so the last player cant just abandon mid mori and cant abandon after being recovered 2 times when the match is still in play. its just a glorified go next button at this point, which currently, killers dont have.

There's no Killer bots yet, so the trial would end. If it's treated like it currently is when a Killer DCs, that'd be unfair for Survivors working toward Adepts and things of that nature. We'd have to have the abandon be considered a win, or we'd need Killer bots to be a thing.
thats the point, the trial should end. all at the gates waiting to tbag the killer means the game is done….just end it. make it include adepts then lol. abandon is considered a win for the killer when all survivors abandon because the reason why survivors got the abandon option in the first place was to end a match that was already lost at that point.

@BlightAbuser said:
It’s not hard to just push them out. Survivors can abandon because it doesn’t affect you at all. If killer abandons, the game is over for everybody. It makes sense to me.
if people are waiting at the gate to tbag the killer then the killer abandoning wouldnt effect the survivors would it? just like the game pushing them out instead of forcing the killer to do it. survivor gets the win, killer gets a loss, no real issue and effects no one
-
hatch as a whole is outdated. what was once a mechanic used to prevent matches lasting forever is now a case of slug to prevent it spawning and last 2 hide hoping the other dies so someone can get a free escape without doing gens or the gate. both boring an unfun. instead of hatch it should just be egc…maybe a slightly longer one than normal so people can still do gens and actually earn the escape. at most the hatch should be sacrifice pit that the survivors can jump into, no one should be able to do 0 gens, 0 saves, dont nothing in the match then just walk out the hatch.

I don't think that many people are against the Killer surrendering during EGC as long as the Survivors are able to escape without it being considered a forfeit on their end.
when survivors abandon i dont think it considers it forfeit for the killer, so i would imagine if killer got the abandon option then it wouldnt be forfeit for the survivors

Here's a scenario for you guys. Its the endgame collapse. The timer is ticking down. The last survivor(s) waiting at the very edge of the exit gate to Tbag. Why am I, The Killer, not allowed to Abandon the game in this situation?
It needs to be VERY clear that this is 100% just a BM/EGO thing for all survivors that do this. They will abandon the game the split second the last survivor hits the ground under the pretense of "oh well I just want to get to my next match faster" but this urgency to get out is nowhere to be seen when they're the ones winning.
BHVR has already implemented a feature where getting slugged too much in a match lets survivors ragequit, so we've obviously gone past the point of "erm! abandoning is only for when you cant do anything!!! you can still do stuff in EGC as the killer just try harder!!!" and is basically just "okay this match might be making you mad so here your BHVR-sanctioned gonext"
Bonus points if you can come up with an explanation that doesn't involve "I want the killer to force me to leave so they can see my tbagging"a question that no one can answer because it has no logic why survivors can abandon before the match is over but killer cant.

5min q time for me…seems killers are in short supply in my region. cant say im surprised

Currently, entering Lockers has the same button of vaulting pallets and windows. This leads to many situations where one cannot distinguish what to do, or spams space and then enters a locker instead of a window.
The most egregious case is the one of the window tile on Eyrie of Crows.
PLS BHVR change this on survivor.
same with the pick up item button and drop pallet and mending. so many times i have tried to stun the killer but instead it decides to start mending. or tried to heal but instead picked up a random item on the floor i didnt even know was there. there is no reason why we cant have something as a different button. even on xbox controler the Y button isnt used for anything, why not have that used?

map offerings wouldnt be an issue if they kept them hidden. it was having them visible so people would DC in loading screen that was the issue not so much the offerings themselves.

A survivor can't do anything but hide when the killer is slugging for the 4k. the last surv doesn't have any options other than going for the downed person or doing the 1-5 gens which either way results in a likely down. so the game is at a stale mate until ( A ) the downed person bleeds out or ( B ) the killer finds the last survivor hiding and kills him. Or ( C ) being able to revive your teammate and doing it all over again, making the game take an extra 15 min therefore I call it holding the game hostage. Where's the devs at can I get some answers. I would like y'all to clarify what holding the game hostage is. Cause if we can't progress the game until our teammate bleeds out are we not being held hostage? Or is it an exploit. Cause there using in game mechanics to the detriment of the game? Until I am answered I will continue to report. They should not be allowed to deny the last piece of hope a survivor can have.
you already said the options available….heal the downed survivor or do gens like normal. if you cant do the gens out of fear of being downed then thats a loss.
holding the game hostage is avoiding the objective causing a stalemate that prevents the game from progressing, slug timer is much like hook timer in that does progress the match.
However, survivors hiding in 2 v 1 situations is holding the game hostage as they are avoiding the objective (gens) while trying to prevent the killer from chasing and killing.

im not sure the cool down is the main issue its the auto aim thats the problem. the main counter to the killer is dont gen infected because when infected your ******. kinda hard to counter when the auto aim can infect people the killer didnt even know was there by spamming the attack and waiting for it home in on a survivor.
