    Hello,
I have written (with chat GPT) a script, that draws a crosshair on the screen in python. I wanted to play huntress, but Its annoying to miss some easy shots.
But I am afaird of getting banned for using it. They are cheats, or external game advantage.
I know many people are using monitor build-in crosshairs, Otztarva himself said that numerous times.
So I don't know, could anyone from product or development reply to me if such scripts are forbidden?

I would add the script to the post, but I think anyone interested will find information's by themself. And I don't want to be flagged as cheats developer by some mistake.

people use 3d party programs for coms and texture changes so i dont think a crosshair would be bannable especially as people can just stick a tiny bit of paper on the screen to act as a crosshair lol

  • how is it not a counter? it means survivor gets to play the match and potentially escape. thats what people want right? besides i didnt say hide for hatch….my counter is stealth while doing gens so im not the one being tunneled. thats not hiding for hatch

Can we not tell Survivors to "just counter tunneling" when Killers refused to counter the anti-tunnel mechanic and instead cried and got it cancelled in two days?

if it can be countered, counter it. the anti tunnel mechanic couldnt be countered with low tier, slow killers due to multiple reasons. if it could be countered then yes killers should counter it but it couldnt…hence why it was cancelled

If you think its interesting I guess, if the vast vast majority of players REFUSED to participate in looping then that part of the game could very likely have been removed from the game. To me that's just Ironclad reality, that or the game would have failed.

However that isnt the reality we are in, we are in the:
the vast majority of players refuse to participate in Tunneling so its getting removed - reality

Personally yeah, I was on your side, you can find posts about me making suggestions to make it easier for Survivors to understand when tunneling happens and fight back on it. But I dont think that is the path that you can easily squeeze new players through and BHVR has not given any suggestion in that way so im siding with BHVR on that one.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4013509#Comment_4013509

So… “nothing” is base kit BT, no hook grabs, anti face camp, additional +10 sec to hook times, +10 altruistic perks for helping teammates when they are getting tunneled?

Do you know what "in the past" means, Survivors first got basekit BT 3 years ago.
Yeah, for the vast majority of this game's life time tunneling has basically just run around unchained.

You just want this anti-tunnel to be absolutely free over emotional whimsy,

Duh, yes, that sounds great. No more games where the Killer tunnels one person out. SIGN ME UP.

i just hope people take notice of it lol. even if there are counters, just mass complain…. if killers end up doing it later about something then survivors can look back on this moment.

i really dont think tunneling is being removed or can be removed, its here to stay whether we like it or not. And IF it gets removed….following this precedent means killers can just complain and get it back lol. cant win either way

You are thinking about this the wrong way around, If tunneling was not an issue and no players could possibly be proven in statistics tp have quit over it, then why would BHVR do anything about it? BHVR's response in the past was to do nothing about it.

My own logic is clear: If BHVR says they want to do something about it, its probably worth doing something about.
They have other things to do, so why do it? for fun? for no reason?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4013491#Comment_4013491

BHVR constantly thinks things are problems when they aren't,

Problem is you cant prove this, you don't know what the stats show. You dont know what the results of the Surveys are do you?

I rather believe BHVR knows what they are doing, rather than you know better than the developers.
BHVR has made a great game I have enjoyed for 8 years, What have you made? nothing???

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4013493#Comment_4013493

This is so flawed, im sure if tunneling was as much part of the game as looping was then people would have adjusted to it better. But they have not and now we are here when its way way better to do something about it than not.

interesting precedent to set… can counter it, wont counter it, can change playstyle, wont change playstyle so lets do something to stop it happening. so lets just all refuse to counter looping so then loops get removed.

tunneling is a tactic and always has been just like looping has. when the game first came out not many looped because we were all new and didnt really know the game was best played. then people found out about looping and back when there was god loops people learnt to go in a circle instead of running from 1 end of the map to the other. these days everyone has adapted and learnt looping can be highly efficient. tunneling has always been part of the game, if its been made worse is because of the high speed killers they release recently but thats not tunneling thats the issue thats the killers.

im not an amazing survivor im pretty average, im soloq too… i counter it by changing my playstyle, simple. others need to do the same and they will find its a non issue and probably find it more fun like i find it.

  • doesnt bother me much because i just counter it so its not an issue

  • once again, the issue isnt tunneling or how often it happens. the issue is people refusing to counter it. it can and has been countered by myself and many others. The tunneling "issue" would go away if people just started changing play style and adapted. doesnt matter if it happens every 1 in 10 matches or every match…. counter it.

looping happens every match…. "how am i supposed to deal with this behaviour every match?" learn to counter it… adjust playstyle.

what is the 50% chance mechanic youre speaking of? i would LOVE to know (if ur talking about hatch, its literally just a way to end the match otherwise people will just rat out until someone dc's) getting mad about a measly hatch escape after 3king with 11 stages is insane loser behaviour

except the hatch isnt just a way to end the match because people rat out hoping to get the hatch. theres a reason 2 v 1 situations are boring for both sides. either killer slug 3rd to find the 4th or both survivors hide hoping the other dies first or the killer DC. this is exactly why bhvr tried to do anti hiding crows (which they fumbled as usual).

even if killer find the hatch first the survivor could have a key to open it anyway. coming from someone that actually uses the hatch as survivor i can say its way more survivor sided than killer sided.

  • @wilnunez said:

If you play both Killer and Survivor, you'll understand that tunneling (repeatedly hooking the same Survivor three times) is only effective for the Killer if the Survivors enable it by unhooking too quickly.

Since Survivor have 70 seconds per hook stage, a lot of that time is best spent repairing Generators in order to pressure the Killer and get closer to escaping.

Survivors who play in a group can easily tell their teammates to wait a bit before unhooking and to instead repair Generators. However, Solo Queue Survivors will often unhook each other far too quickly, enabling the Killer to tunnel them out much sooner.

So what if, after a Survivor is hooked, the hook is blocked off by the Entity for 30 seconds, preventing that Survivor from being rescued?

This would solve several issues for Solo Queue Survivors:

    • You have peace of mind knowing your team can't immediately farm you off hook while the Killer is nearby
    • You have time to look at your surroundings and prepare for chase if the Killer returns
    • Since your teammates can't unhook you right away, they can use that initial time to repair Generators, prepare for the rescue, and then unhook you at the last second

But this would also benefit Killers as well:

    • You have peace of mind knowing that one Survivor is unable to contribute to the match
    • You have a better chance at snowballing the match into a win if you can get another Survivor down while one is still blocked from being unhooked
    • You don't have to camp in the Endgame to secure a Kill; you can hook a Survivor and try to pressure one of the gates while they are forced to stay Hooked

I feel like this is a more elegant solution than punishing tunneling directly. I can't think of one scenario where a Survivor needs to be unhooked quickly after being hooked, so I feel like preventing it entirely promotes better play for both sides.

it might only effect low tier killers because killers like ghoul and blight or any speed killer can get in chase, kick someone off a gen then get back to the hook very quickly to tunnel so the block dont effect them. low tier killers that often need to tunnel would be effected more. i think people just need to learn to counter tunneling instead of having basekit things to force them into performing the correct action.

can you run me through how to counter being tunnelled instead of making empty suggestions??

my counter is based on soloq because thats what i play.

    1. dont play altruistic
    2. the biggest way to counter being tunneled is to prevent it before it happens, play stealth and make sure your not the one the killer is tunneling first. when they tunnel someone else just knock out gens as fast as you can.
    3. if your being tunneled and get hooked, when your unhooked, lose line of sight or use the unhookers scratch marks to confuse the killer.
    4. it might sound obvious but practice looping. if the killer is tunneling a very good looper and others are doing gens the killer will lose a lot of gens by trying to tunnel out the strong looper so they will often abandon the chase to pick an easier target.
    5. take hatch offering. if you cant do all gens by the time the killer has tunneled out 3 survivors then go for hatch.

you didn’t even read my post properly. either way though can you explain how it would be MY fault that I get tunneled out by toxic killers nearly every single match (not an exaggeration by the way)

its your fault for DCing instead of countering it. if your going to DC whenever a killer does something you dont like its absolutely your fault and should get a pen.

  • @hhedge said:

Hey team! If I get tunnelled, slugged, face-camped, and hit on hook after not doing anything toxic I shouldn’t get a time penalty for disconnecting. How is it fair that I should have to sit through like 10 minutes straight every match of just being tunnelled out because I’m not that good at looping and don’t get the chance to improve since this happens every match. I would appreciate if you could do your job and fix this game! Thanks.

you get 2 free dc and then get small pens before it gets to 10min. i get tunneled and i dont get any pen so you must be doing something wrong

Killers DC because the poor things didn't win.

Survivors DC because they are being treated like punching bags by both a bad system and weak skilled killers that are taking advantage of broken systems.

    It's really that simple.

I've never DC'd as a killer. I consider it a learning experience if I get rolled.
The clear advantage of the killer role makes the argument of killers DC'ing a moot point.

If it's Krasue with 4 slow down perks; I'm out. There's literally no counter play or strategy against it.

Punishing survivors for not wanting to waste their time for bad mechanics is a terrible answer and won't work. I won't and can't be forced to play an obvious miserable game.

The anti-tunnel was too harsh but a good idea. Although, I'd limit it to 3 new hooks. 6 was crazy and even 4 is too much.

There was nothing wrong with the anti-slug. If anything I'd change it to a radius thing instead of a time thing. If the killer is on the other side of the map they are obviously either intentionally letting you get picked up or intentionally trying to slug everyone. That way, bully squads can still get slugged.

so a survivor loops the killer long enough for a gen or 2 to be done, goes down once then DC because they have been treated like a punching bag?

a survivor looks at a low tier, easy to loop killer like wraith or trapper and instantly DC because they have been treated like a punching bag?

a survivor doesnt get the map they want so they DC before they even know who the killer is and its because they have been treated like a punching bag?

come on, some DC you can swing that excuse for but when people start to DC over any little thing i think thats just the players. you say you dont DC as killer because its a learning curve but that should apply to survivors too. Krasue i agree with, but that excuse doesnt apply to low/mid tier killers.

The date doesn't actually help, since it could be easily Photoshopped or otherwise manipulated. For example the in-game screenshot doesn't actually have a date in it, so I could have either Photoshopped a fake time, or manually have set my system clock to a different date before taking a screenshot with it below the screenshot.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3B7KGQYQOFGX/image.png

Which means people will either believe the screenshots or not believe them. It's also 2025, and it's so easy to digitally alter images that someone could have easily just have done that instead. People could also post their friend's stats, and none of it is verifiable.

Regardless, the in-game screenshot clearly shows a 66 game time period. It doesn't matter if that took 4 days or 4 weeks, it's still 66 games with a 51% escape rate. And that is still a lot higher than the average solo q survivor.

i agree any pic can be faked, could even be legit but someone else account. but people are less likely to go through the effort to photoshop and make it look genuine and up to date than they are to just cut a screenshot and use the same one time and time again. Just to clarify, im not saying that is or isnt the case here im just saying i can see why there would be doubt. i know some people cut screenshots to only show the relevant info but also some people do it because they want to hide something.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4013031#Comment_4013031

Except that you used the wrong dbd stats graphic. The one with the survivor/door icon is the overall escape rate. You posted an individual survivor escape rate.

And I didn't think there was a conspiracy theory, but considering how many bad takes are on these forums, I thought at least one person would have gone overboard about it.

And actually, the inflated stats had nothing to do with not waiting long enough. It has to do with the fact that a lot of people don't understand how QA testing works, and don't understand how to check if a system is working properly.

right or wrong stats graphics aside, i think the point is that the screenshots don't show a date or anything like that so could be interpreted in whatever way. im not saying the info is inaccurate or you deliberately tried to create a narrative using cropped screenshots or any thing like that but its understandable to question screenshots that show no date. which i believe i did mention before when i said "assuming the screenshots was around the same time period" or something to that effect. thats why i make a conscious effort to make sure my screenshots are dated whenever possible.

This has been in the game for at least 1-2 years. Seems like there is some sort of map rotation going on that boosts certain maps and switches every few days. Many players just start to notice it now since map offerings are nerfed and not used as present anymore

doesnt explain why the current map rotation often gives same realm 2 or 3 times in a row which the map update this year claimed would prevent from happening. something is broken with it.

There are like 4 different ways to abandon as survivor and two as killer I think so they kinda did and now you can dc 2 times per day without ban but Im not sure.

supposed to be 2 free DC then pens start of light with 60 sec then 5min i think. then play 20 matches without DCing to earn a reset and get another 2 free DC. which 20 matches people will probably go next in most of them anyway so if im playing for 8 hours straight (which isnt uncommon) i can essentially get like 6 free DC in 1 day

And of course games where my team mates are either allergic to gens or can't last 10 seconds in a chase. Sometimes both.

while soloq is awful i agree, it doesnt always reflect the escape rate. my escape rate 60% and im soloq.

"game is not balanced for good team"
"yOu hAvE MaDe yOuR aRguMeNt vOiD"

buddy, half of the killers in this game are conceptually and fundamentally weak. they're way too easy to pick up, use and have such low potential in comparison to other killers that making them keep up vs top 1% survivor players means making them completely unfair against the rest 99%.

it's a genuine delusion to demand the game to be balanced around these players and have every killer being able to keep up at that point.

if they have the potential in their design and their balance allows them to, they can do that, otherwise PLAY SOMETHING ELSE or DEAL WITH IT.

i have never said once the game should be balanced around them, you have just invented that argument. i only said that your point of "just apply pressure" doesnt make sense, which you have openly admitted and agreed they cant because they are not designed to. i can play weaker killers and win because i tunnel and slug and do whatever i need to do to win, i have no problem with it lol. fact remains that these killers are not designed to win, like you said. im not saying anything to do with balance or what changes should or shouldnt be made.

do you understand how you get map / gen pressure?

yea, map mobility helps a lot, yet it's not the only way to apply pressure. it's always about making people busy anyhow.

it's not inherently related to map mobility, map mobility simply enables more commonly accepted playstyles, yet the game isn't limited to "commit to chase, hook, ######### off somewhere else for a new chase".

you have essentially made any argument void based on your 1 statement admitting not all killers are designed to win against good teams. how to gain pressure is irrelevant because you yourself have admitted they are not designed to win, which means no amount of pressure via map or gens or powers is enough….they are simply not designed to win. You said it. therefore your entire argument of apply pressure is non existent.

and like I said, most killers make up for that with something else.

Pyramid Head has no map mobility and he gets one of the best ways to secure stages / kills & one of the strongest midrange antiloop power in the game amongst similar killers.

Chucky gets very easy and oppressive chase power with multiple different abilities including his own size.

Knight can multitask and pressure different survivors.

Pinhead, if we are being fair and not counting box tp as map mobility, can stall the whole team from doing anything if he pulls off box logic well.

Trickster or Bubba can shred the whole team if they happen to group up together with them being close.

tHe lIsT gOeS oN aNd oN.

dbd isnt balanced for esports and most killers arent even designed to have enough potential for winning against good enough players unless they throw. in hands of average player against average survivors even the weakest killers are doing pretty well if you are willing to put effort and skill. it doesnt matter changes arent needed, but you're lying to yourself if they are incapable of applying pressure and winning games.

killers like pyramid head with strong anti loop helps gets downs but it doesnt help gen pressure when the gen is on the opposite side of the map. 4 players, 1 hooked, killer can waste time traveling the map to kick someone off a gen which the gen will most likely already be done by that point. get a hook but lose a gen regardless.

trickster and bubba relies on the team being together to actually do anything which i remind you we are talking about GOOD teams v these killers. a good team wont clump together like that.

knight is designed to tunnel and camp and has ability to pressure gens without actually being there

chucky is awful at pressuring gens and very easy to counter, especially on wide open maps where stealth isn't an option

pinhead i agree has a power that can create pressure but i would say killers like this are the outlier to the rule, generally speaking fast speedy killers can pressure easier than slow killers

Nemesis and deathslinger are another 2 that lack speed and have no power to pressure gens.

you said it yourself, "most killers arent even designed to have enough potential for winning against good enough players unless they throw". yes they can win v average players, but this is about good teams, teams that know how to play, teams that dont make many mistakes. these killers just cant compete which is why people tunnel and slug…to try even things out. you have just said my exact point.

cool, you've mentioned 5 killers, let's add skull merchant to the list, who are all notoriously bad and need to be reworked.

if you're trying to argue the whole game needs to be balanced around these killers, you're just as bad as people who try to force the game to be balanced around top 5 killers.

like i said the list goes on, there are many more killers with no speed and no means of teleport. if 2 people are working on gens on the opposite side of the map, i truly would love to know how you intend to pressure the gens…. kick one off, chase, the other will do the gen by the time the killer gets a down and there is nothing the killer can do about it because it takes so long to get there even if they tried to kick them off.

i dont think the game should be balanced around the bottom 5 killers or top 5, im just pointing out that your statement of "if your applying enough pressure" and then trying to use a teleport killer to show how it can be done is flawed when there are an abundance of killers that simply cant apply pressure because they lack the speed/teleport ability to do so.

more than half of the killers in the game have map mobility and others make up for by higher lethality / better utility in comparison to their counterparts in the same weight group.

i think you're just looking for excuses here.

1.trapper, 0 speed, very limited anti loop if any.

    2. myers, 0 speed, 0 anti loop

    3. doctor, 0 speed, somewhat has anti loop but not if people predrop.

4.bubba, 0 speed, 0 anti loop. basically useless v vaults.

5.pig, 0 speed, 0 anti loop and useless on big open maps.

the list goes on. if we are talking about pressuring gens, these killers struggle simply because they are slow and cant teleport from 1 end of the map to the other to kick someone off a gen. speed/teleport killers have a much easier time applying pressure, they just as lethal, if not more so and they have the speed.

I dont think gen speeds are a problem if you're applying enough pressure.

thats the issue, low to mid tier killers struggle to apply pressure especially on big maps. speed killers like blight and ghoul, sure the can pressure no problem but a slow killer on a big map is much harder to apply any pressure… this is where tunneling and slugging come into it.

  • which is exactly why people often feel the need to hard tunnel at 5 gens. they know if its a good team and they are a low to mid tier killer then gens will fly so have to get it down to 3 v 1 asap.

  • people will dodge for anything, sable? dodge. claudette? dodge. mikaela? dodge. hidden name? dodge. no item? dodge. ttv? dodge. even certain skins people will dodge.

  • i use microsoft points earned from rewards if i ever buy anything for the game so i dont mind paying that, not costing me anything

  • personally i like the moving eye banner and badge lol

    Prove me wrong?

Besides...how many times have you encountered a person and thought to yourself, "my God, this person's behavior is quite unpleasant. Is there a way I can continue to experience this feeling or can I tap out"?

Go ahead, I'll wait on both counts.

depends on the situation, as killer i will gladly take on bots any time because they are easy wins lol.

as survivor, sometimes bots can be better due to them actually doing gens unlike a lot of people. However, if there is a player that can loop pretty well, they loop long enough for a gen to be done then i would rather they play the match to give the team time to do the rest of the gens. bots dont last long in chases because they are easy downs.

Even if the first DC or two are "free," they really aren't. Those DC's stay on your record until you play out 20 matches afterwards. And the DC timer doesn't even tick down unless you actually go to queue up. It doesn't tick down when you simply turn off the game and walk away. That's definitely more harsh than simply waiting 24 hours for the DC point to get wiped. (And I suspect that's why people keep queueing up, because it's the only way to get rid of your DC penalties.)

i think trying to get people to q up to remove the penalty isnt a good thing. it encourages people that already stressed out and reached their limit to continue playing the game where they will attempt to go next and take out the frustrations on other players.

previous system gave people 24 hours to cool off, it didnt say "we know you have had enough and likely to dc again or go next but keep playing to remove the penalty"

with this in mind, the old system was better. i try to think about things as me being in that situation. if im going to DC because im frustrated that much time after time then i get a chance to reduce it by playing 20 matches… thats 20 matches i can go next in (pretty quickly done maybe under 2 hours) bingo i earnt free DC again. for someone that plays 8 hours consecutively 2 hours of going next to earn more free DC is nothing.

old system… if im going to DC due to being stressed and annoyed time after time then i get hit with a 60 sec pen, 5min i think ok another time i do this im getting hit hard for a full 24 hours with no going back so better play the game or come back tomorrow. i can go next as many times as i like in 24 hours but my pen remains the same so there is no incentive for me continue and intentionally go next to reduce my timer.

i say bring back 24 hour timer and let people cool off, dont let them continue to play when they are that frustrated with the game.

No killer DCs though. That's interesting. Like the problem is only on one side for weird and unknown reasons

to be fair the past few days i have had multiple killers dc too. granted not as many as survivor but the killers that seem to dc are the non s tier killers…myers, doctor, wraith, nemesis, huntress, bubba have all been killers that have dc in matches over the past week. never seen a blight dc or ghoul or nurse or krasue….

Disconnecting is annoying and people shouldn't do it.

For me, this is just solid proof that the "go next" update was listening to the wrong people. Just punish them is the wrong solution.

They haven't addressed the main reason why people disconnect, which is that the match is generally over if you're the first person found.

They finally, finally after 9 years agreed to look at tunneling, and pulled it immediately. That seems a pretty clear message that they don't care to actually fix anything about the issue if the loudest voices complain (and they absolutely did).

I'm not even saying that the changes were perfect, they weren't, but as of right now there's no ETA, no communication, and it's sounds like they're going back to the drawing board. So, maybe at least another year before we get only the part of the list the loud people wanted (Killer buffs that demonstrably won't fix anything).

Only 1 match included tunneling (blight), there was no slugging, no camping

Well, you can't say that because the match changes after a disconnect. The match changes instantly at that moment.

Some killers will focus a player because the bot is basically useless, and some players will go easier on the remaining survivors because a disconnect sucks and an early dc already basically guarantees the killer a win.

If people are disconnecting on first down, which is almost all of these... It's because they're expecting to be tunneled out. They are conditioned by the game and the meta "strategy" of tunneling that "well, bad luck you got found first, but maybe you get to play the next match instead".

But instead of being able to fix that, we have to discuss how to punish people further.

people ASSUME the killer will tunnel and just DC instead of even trying to counter it. the killer doesnt have a chance to tunnel someone out because they DC before they can even attempt it. 1 person DC after second hook after finding out they are being tunneled i can understand but first down? then another goes down 1 time and DC? They clearly have the impression that tunneling is unbeatable and pretty common but they still start the game knowing this is the case. i think the message here is the punishment isnt enough and people should learn to counter it instead of giving up. how will people learn to counter tactics if they DC all the time?

If i go down in seconds because i cant loop very well, should i DC because i know i cant loop so know i will go down fast again when in chase? i mean whats the point in playing in if i cant loop? no, i should continue the match and learn to loop, play the game i decided to start up and play.

People even DC when the match starts not even knowing who the killer is or no going down. I understand reasons why some people do it, like v krasue or a toxic killer but the second they are down 1 time after giving the team enough time to do 1 or 2 gens is crazy. it comes across as stroppy children throwing a tuntrum because they cant loop the killer all match, what next? people dont like spawn location so they DC, lets change the spawn locations? When is it enough? when people DC because they dont like killer skin, a pallet didnt spawn where they want it to spawn?

Even with the several abandon options available, people still just DC

  • i think i will stick to my meta build lol. i used to go full gen build because i could never rely on my team doing gens but since the nerf i dont run built to last and streetwise anymore. I adapted just fine 😊
