You should have just stopped and not come back on when angry and indulged in a rant. If this game frustrates you that much its time to stop for a bit.
I second the post about hyperbole here as it really does just come off like a rant, rather than a well thought out objective assessment of things.
Never come to the forums angry as this is the result and it basically shoots your own argument in the foot before you've even really begun.
Take your own advice and take a break.

I'm not a fan either, but hey what can you do.

EGC is when most killers secure hooks. Either from hook trades or just straight up failed attempts.
If I'm survivor I dont mind trading at that stage as the game is basically over anyway. I'd rather die a hero than live as a coward.

I predominately play without addons, I'm stingy like that, I'd say I break even in terms of kills.
That's with pretty much all killers.

Another "loss" if you will is making the achievement of killing all four exceptionally more difficult. But you could also use DH for that, so ...
A bit overpriced yeah. Maybe the red mori could be downgraded to purple. Otherwise you could argue, offerings overall do not have such a great impact, so it's more or less fair that moris impact was decreased as well.
Yes, not being able to punish annoying players anymore might hurt a bit, I can see that and likely will miss that from time to time. But as a compensation for this loss, I no longer have to dread a hidden offering, bc let's be honest, most of time that meant tunnel-mori time. The instances were the killer did NOT tunnel hooked survivors out of the game with his mori when they COULD have done it was in the single digits for me.
Yeah I agree with you, and I can still "punish" bad play as killer but I just can't do it as quickly and convincingly (or satisfyingly as with an old ebony).
I never minded the hidden object dread as survivor because basically I want to be scared of the killer. Without the tension, survivor really is just M1 simulator. Nothing more terrifying than that mori bearing down on you, I feel survivor game lost more from this thematically than killer game. Everyone's motivation to play is different but I personally feel survivors should be scared of killers its kind of the point. Where's the thrill?
That said 2mins of game time ain't great and yeah I enjoy the mori but the temptation to just butcher someone out early is so great, I fell to the darkside often no matter how much I told myself I would only use it if I needed it.

TWO DEATH THREATS? Good lord.
Yeah I get a lot of nasty messages from fellow survivors. Some straight up have told me they messaged the killer to let them know where I was. I know I can turn my messages off but it's kinda annoying to constantly have to turn things on and off because DBD is such a toxic community.
Oh yeah on a regular basis, I get told to catch cancer, COVID, hang myself, slit my wrists, run over by a car, those who wish they could stab you, etc etc. I've turned off comments.
I've discovered it doesn't matter how scummy you play either, you could play the cleanest game in the world but if that one guy who can't hack it dies they'll let you have it and if they escape they'll let you have it more.
Now my self esteem isn't tied to a game so I don't really care and I study animal behaviour and to a lesser extent human behaviour so the mentality of people who do that interests me somewhat. Fear and aggression response etc.
But its not pleasant and not warranted. I fear the community is getting a reputation for being like this, which may turn other gamers off. Several of my friends have quit playing.
Its a shame because the majority of my game experience is positive and generally the community is pretty good, but some nights its like every game has some really toxic element to it and I think its not a good night to be on and call it.
At the risk of starting a PC vs Console garbage fight, I feel it has gotten worse since cross play.

I agree with this- but it is not realistic unfortunately. this game inspires a "Us vs Them" mentality. So can only ask for those who are not toxic to not give into being toxic and hope the community realizes, when I say community I am pointing at survivors. That no matter who is more toxic, killers are quitting the game and this is why you have such long queues at parts of the day. Or you get Red Ranks going against a level 17
Yeah true on the "us vs them" mentality, I definitely lean into the killer camp moreso as its what I enjoy more, and my bias definitely shows when it comes to changes that affect killer perks vs those that affect survivor perks.
But I can't use that game design as an excuse to constantly attack the opposite side of the community as its only a game after all.
Definitely the amount of obnoxious play from some survivors makes me call it a night early as killer on evenings I play nowadays. I rate my killer games lower than my survivor games mostly because of the unpleasant nature of many survivors I play against.
As survivor yeah I get tunneled and camped etc etc, but I rarely get abused by a killer in post game chat.
-
The problem isn't haddonfield the problem is victor. This killer just seems lackluster at best and wow yet again we have map design that the twins also can't really deal with.

I don't think any one side is more toxic than the other. The whole us vs them, survivor vs killer, console vs pc argument does little but to divide the community and result in unproductive partisanship.
Many people play both sides and if you don't you should because you are missing out on half of the game. Yes I play more killer and so by design see more toxic survivors but I also play a lot of survivor and see toxic killers and survivors from that side too.
There is 4x survivor and 1x killer, you are gonna see more bad behaviour from survivors because there are more of them.
Basically its an online game where there is little consequence and plenty of anonymity to go around, an environment that empowers the worst to indulge in the giant tantrum throwing cry babies they are.
Its the nature of PUG online gaming that you will be thrown in with people you would never game with under any circumstances because they lack the emotional maturity to play games with others. We all know that one person we don't want to invite to boardgame night because their goal is to ruin it for everyone when they don't get what they want.
Remember when you were a kid and you knew that one kid who always threatened to take the ball and go home if they didn't get what they wanted. That kid is now applying the same childish mentality to online games (often as a childish adult).
Bring on the bots I say. Let me decide if I want to spend an evening with these people or not. Because I love this game but what can really kill it is the bad gamers.

Funny thing is it's always the opposite for me, I met some pretty TOXIC killers for instance I think I'm doing a pretty good job looping, keeping the killers attention so my team can do gens then BOOM I get downed, put on a hook and face camped. Even tho I didn't tbag once, guess I'm toxic for trying to survive? But I hear you man there are some of those Survivors who do exactly what you described and that's when you face camp them till their dead, it might cost you the game but they're getting their just desserts
To play devils advocate in a counter point to this, are you sure the killer was being "toxic" or given that you ran them really well they are now unsure of how successful they will be and are just camping this one resource they've captured over risking losing it?
Are they hitting you repeatedly on hook the whole time you are hanging there or engaging in other obnoxious behaviour?
When this happens to me I try and take an objective view of why they might be camping me, and if I've run them for several gens, and generally outplayed them I don't blame them for camping and even tunneling me out because last thing they probably want is to have to chase me like that again.
-
I broke out the Mori's in a big way last night to see how it was and I have to say it doesn't make that much of a difference.
The big key is that where once it was possible to quickly mori 4 people now you'll probably only end up mori'ing 1-2 later in the game for the hell of it.
The two big losses I see about the ebony mori now are...
I feel its kinda overpriced BP wise given its sizable reduction in game impact.
I can no longer use it to quickly punish that one really obnoxious survivor who is hell bent on just being an annoying prick all game (constant noise spamming, unnecessary body blocking, flashlight clickity click etc). That is how I used to use them, this one guy is killing my game experience, bury them and then play a relaxed casual fun game with who's left. Now I am forced to interact with that prick for longer which is a reduction in overall game enjoyment, bummer. (and before anyone says maybe they behave like that because I brought a mori, I'll say this people who behave like that will do it no matter what, they are wankers in general and even if I bring a mori it doesn't justify their crap, just as keys don't justify me being a jerk to the key user).
Also people seem just as angry about them when you bring one, even though they have half the impact they used to have, the endgame chat is just as salty and tantrum filled as it was if you had insta-tunneled everyone out in 2 mins with it. I guess whiners are going to whine no matter what happens.
-
It must be a nutbar kind of night I've gotten two death threats and plenty of salty language out of only three games as killer.
Sigh I wish there was a solo play variant against bots. I hate people, especially giant angry man babies on the internet I'm forced to play with because thats the way things are.
-
Personally I'd say clown > oni > traffic cone.
Clown has the best perks and while not being in the strongest position killer wise he is quite fun to play. Oni ranks next as he is fun to play but his perks aren't quite as good, ol traffic cone last as he can be powerful but I've found his perks to be meh and as I'm not a silent hill fan, I think he's both a rediculous concept and dumb looking killer.
-
Yeah can't say I'm enthused about this one. I picked up blight because I liked the idea, had to give him a chance, but ping pong is not horror.
traffic cone head, ping pong, kick the baby, three bum DLC's in a row. I'm so happy they reworked LeatherFace, he's my thematic go to.
-
I really hope they implement this even if its a custom game with bots that leads to no BP rewards. I could at least get my fix when there is naught but toxic trash playing.
-
The problem is that certain perks just pollute your bloodweb.
I always say the same thing to killers asking about the grind. Level up Leatherface first and unlock BBQ & Chilli. Then put some time into each killer till they all have at least BBQ and Chilli 2 if not 3.
Then go back and prestige/unlock your other perks on killers you want to play. This greatly lessens the grind.
I p3'd doc for the bloody lab coat but other than that I have no more prestige toons. Can't see the value in it. Especially now with every perk unlocked. Prestige shouldn't reset all your perks, I just don't see the point in it other than forcing you into a grind.
You should play because you feel like it not because you need to feed a completionism addiction.
-
That's the thing, I usually don't finish the rift hence why I don't buy the rift passes.
I cherry pick the ones I want to do and then pick stuff that may inadvertently get done at some point. If I finish I finish if I don't I don't.
I guess the cosmetic rewards are for those who put in the time to get them all done, but I'm not fussed.
I think the best way to deal with the rift is to only buy the pass if you have already unlocked a tier/cosmetic you were going for. Otherwise its just a waste of money.
-
Yeah that's how I used it last night with Hag, mori'd 3/4 by either harassing the hook till they hit second stage or getting the second hook asap. Ate 2 DS and lost 4 gens but got 3/4. Last survivor hatched out. Lots of salt, death threats the usual.
Basically the "proxy camping" of hooks has always been the most effective way to apply fast pressure with a mori. It just requires a lil extra to do it now but its still doable. The difference is you'll lose 3 to 4 gens going that route rather than 1 to 2 gens.
Its only one game to draw from but I wanted to see how much immediate pressure you can apply with the new mori, and you can tunnel off hook but it just takes more investment with potentially less payoff.
-
As someone who plays more killer than survivor I'm a bit bummed out about it but it hasn't killed the game.
I think its affected my survivor game more than my killer game as yet again its less scary to play survivor. A killer with a hidden offering was scary, now even with that its kind of like eh I've got two hook states to get away before there is any real threat. The watered down fear of the survivor experience is what really undermines that side of the game.
-
People whine about every change killer or survivor, you need to stop with the killer vs survivor rhetoric that infects every post you make. It doesn't help the situation at all.
-
Dc’ing is against game rules. Sack up and bleed out.
-
It’s thematic I think it’s a great idea.
-
If you are mindful of your pathing while carrying someone it shouldn't be a problem.
It's just going to make survivors greedier with pallets to get downed next to one and hopefully get enough recovery to drop it. You'd have to really build for that though and it would be a suboptimal build at best.
A team trying to coordinate stuns is still going to beat one guy running this build so they can use it in this one specific scenario.
Its just another subvert your expectations perk that letting someone get another second chance, the game is riddled with them already and most aren't game breaking.
-
Ah the ol "I'll never shop here again!" play, guess they'll just have to rely on their 1000's of other customers then.
Shame though he was the pillar hold this whole game up without him it just won't be the same.
(yes its snide but seriously why don't people think before posting this kind of unobjective trash on the forums)
-
its because what's defined as "playing fair" by one side of the community could also be called playing sub optimally or even poorly from the other side of the community.
Tunneling can apply a lot of pressure if survivors get focussed on rescues, also taking the game down to 3 on 1 rather than 4 is continually applied pressure for the killer, for the rest of the match (obviously).
If survivor play leaves you with the option to rehook someone quickly and advance their hook state it pays big in the long run to pressure that.
Its kind of like asking survivors to stop pressuring gens for a few minutes after a couple pop, to give the killer a chance to catch up. Its probably not going to happen.
A hooked survivor is just another resource that the killer can pressure and if their are no obvious gens they need to go straight to to defend then its basically naive to assume they won't pressure that extra resource.
There is a thematic aspect also, I don't get upset when the serial killer chasing me, visciously murders me because that's what they are meant to do. When killers play nice it defeats the purpose of the game. I want to be scared as survivor without that fear it is just M1 simulator with occasional ring-a-ring-a rosie bot.
Why do you watch a horror movie its no for the oscar grade performances? Its about fear, survivors should fear the killer and being tunneled out of existence early is part of that fear.
Most calls for balance when you read between the lines are calls for watering down the fear aspect of the game.
-
I main Hag she is a beast.
To many traps to close together will let survivors tear through them all, you need a couple out in good places at the start, a few random and then use the rest aggressively to shut down loops.
I will typically take a port over continuing a chase it's usually a free hit and you pop into another chase, losing no pressure. Also pressures the survivor who's plan is to just run through all your traps and pop them while you are busy elsewhere. If they are saying "hey come kill me" I'm happy to oblige.
Offset traps near windows as it turns survivor's camera and often screws up fast vaults for players who aren't prepared for it.
Play her without addons and get a feel for teleport distance then when you run addons it'll feel like easy cheese.
Just drop a trap before you pick up and only one trap to proxy camp a hook more than that is overkill. Best bet is to hook in an area where you have traps already It'll get em every time because they won't see you set any near the hook.
Also you main nurse, hats off to you I'll never touch her again hehe absolutely hate her playstyle.

So this is why I say that Spirit flips the script on survivor's! You said "it's a guessing game for the survivor" but yet 90% of killer gameplay is guessing and hoping so here's my question!
"WHY IS IT OK FOR KILLER'S TO GUESS AND HOPE, BUT IT'S NOT OK FOR SURVIVOR'S TO GUESS AND HOPE?"
Survivor's get spoonfed all the information they need in a chase to counter a killer! For example, if Wraith is at a mindgameable loop he flicks his camera and moonwalks 'HOPING' that the survivor makes the wrong read which makes it a 50/50 for him so that he can get the hit! But when he flicks his camera back around he can see that no matter what he does the survivor can just wait around the corner peaking for either his physical body or Red Stain, but this is fine!
But Spirit can stand still at a loop (which BHVR designed her to do btw) making it 50/50 for the survivor to determine weather they should go back towards her or not and 'HOPING' that they made the right call. But somehow this a problem!
I don't get it. I play survivor too and I enjoy playing against Spirit because she's not Shift + W and occasionally look backwards counterplay killer. Idk I guess I'm more focused on the fact that the game is 1v4 and not 1v1
Basically this, you have a killer who mixes up the gameplay, but a lot of people only want loopy loop and when that isn't as effective its somehow boring and impossible to counter. Go figure.

the walls is what helps mindgame.
that’s just like saying “make me a coffee without any coffee beans” it’s literally a vital part of a survivors success
You do realise that you still can't see each other when she phases.
-
Its all been said before, ther are those who say yes and those who say no and those who say who cares.
I'm in the no camp, there are enough children and people with the emotional maturity of children playing to make the game unpleasant enough without inviting more with cartoony kiddy horror.

Think of it as a mindgame without walls.

It's entitled to want to be able to play the game without being removed in under 2 minutes?
Yikes, guess I'm not allowed to have fun.
I think the "entitlement" described here is the expectation that another player will take responsibility for your fun.
Yeah it sucks to be taken out of the game early and survivor queues kind of blow. But its not outside of the game mechanics to do it and can be a huge amount of pressure to take the game down to 3 on 1 rather than 4 if you can do it quickly.
To attack another player and call them a bad killer because they apply this mechanic well, is just unproductive and another example of game toxicity.
You are allowed to have fun, but you have to have realistic expectations of what can and does happen in this game.

Well tbh, survivor queues are always long, at least on ps4.
And as killer I didn't see any difference.
But then again that is as how I experienced it
Yeah true on the survivor queues, but they were breaking 10-15mins this weekend and I don't think I ever waited that long. This game aint worth that wait.
The loss of bloodlust hasn't really affected my game results that much usually I don't need it, but I did find myself more often abandoning chases early if there was a strong loop nearby.
Its more the blandness of the chases holding W and hugging edges is now more effective than mind gaming, worse if pallets are pre-dropped. All of the double back/ sneak around/ second guess that makes chases fun was largely missing and replaced by hold W and run.
-
Hey its not needed but the tedium of some games has increased. I called it this weekend and played other games instead.
Survivor queues were too long and killer was tedious, what more can I say.

Your counter argument is the strongest argument that I've seen so far. I concede that you have a point. However, I don't think lack of bloodlust is a punishment so much as a reward for playing badly.
Yeah true, but there are a lot of elements in this game that reward or at least soften the effects of bad play some more pressing ones come to mind than bloodlust.
I'm alos gonna miss crutching out on it in a bad chase myself.

I guess I'm biased since i main nurse 😆
nurse can wreck an indoor map though, especially being able to pop up and down between levels, stairs... what are they?
-
I like them, variety is the spice of life. Indoor maps have their place just as outdoor maps.
I like em both and prefer the gameplay to change up a little from time to time.
-
I guess the counter point is that bloodlust doesn't punish new survivors the same way the lack of it punishes new killers.
Playing stealthy is a perfectly good way to play the game and can be a lot of fun. Survivor gameplay doesn't revolve around the chase, its a big part but you can stealth around and avoid the killer, get saves do gens, hide in their TR and not get spotted.
There is a myriad of survivor gameplay that bloodlust has no effect on and you can still escape or "win" without ever really being effected by it.
Killer gameplay revolves around the chase, making bloodlust infinitely more valuable to a new killer especially when paired with higher ranks and more experienced survivors through bad match making.
The fact that time management is also infinitely more valuable to killers, and now you have new killers who may not be great at looping even on non infinites or unsafe pallets that get destroyed and then quit.
This game needs both killers and survivors but how often do you see posts by people saying "I'm to scared to play survivor", its typically the other way around, "I'm to scared to play killer" which is nuts because in a survival horror game the survivors should be scared of the killers not the other way around.
-
Talk of balance in this game annoys me a little bit. Basically its a survival horror game.
The survivors should be scared of the killer and the killer should be a major threat to the survivors.
When you know the killer has little chance of catching you as survivor this game is dull as dishwater and the same goes for when you are poorly matched as killer and can't actually dictate the game. Often the posts I see about balance want this scenario rather than a survival horror.
I get it though if killers were super powerful noone would play survivor, but when survivors don't fear the killer its kind of a mute point. The problem with this game is its multiplayer meaning someone has to get neutered in the name of balance.
Single player mode against bots would be great.

I didn't do that cause that's not necessary.
Read the 2nd sentence please.
OK what perk should I suggest if I don't know what perks you already have?
Its not about this perk goes best with that its about answering your question in an informed manner.
When in doubt just take BBQ for the bloodpoints. (and if you respond I already have BBQ then see my previous comment, self sabotage is a real thing).
-
Yeah if you are getting bloodlust then the chase isn't going great anyway but now the chase in non existant in some scenarios.
I don't want to have to drop chase just because the survivor goes into a strong loop and every survivor B-lines for that loop on every map now.
I'm getting kills etc etc its just more tedious to do, I don't mean hard I mean tedious. When the killer doesn't get bloodlust you don't have to mind game you just hold W and run in a circle, its tedious.
Also the run around the one piece of junk preserving the pallet is a go to for every chase rather than a select few chases.
Bloodlust shouldn't be needed to get downs but ffs it helps when RNG isn't in your favor or when folks know how to exploit tiles well.
So far I'm
Huntress 0k x 3 matches
Trapper 2k, 1k, 4k, 4k, 4k (last one was a mori fest)
Bubba 4k, 3k hatch, 1k obnoxious player that I camped and let the rest go, yeah I did it and I apologise for nothing.
Haven't tried my main gal Hag yet but the huntress daily was painful.
As survivor tonight I've escaped 10 games in a row, several without getting downed once and I'm a potato.
I think the loss of bloodlust would be felt less if match making was better. But when match making is skewed with ranbow teams, or grey/yellow killers paired with purps and reds then bloodlust can play a major part.
You can argue its just killers relying on mechanics to get them downs but can't the same be said for survivors utilzing their smaller hitbox to circle the same piece of trash and extend chases. Overall I don't think its removal is healthy for the game until RNG can completely remove infinites and match making can solidly pair up matches.
-
@darktrix said:
Whenever I see posts like this I reserve my opinion since it only one side giving their story. Camping, ebony mori, what else did you do that was toxic and you expect them to return love for it?
Neither camping nor an ebony MORI give any justification for the post game behaviour. Basically the survivors in this scenario lack the maturity to play this game objectively and shouldn't be here.
-
Yeah I get why a test of it is being conducted, but I'll have to admit to even myself occasionally crutching out on bloodloust against a player who is better than me. Typically this happens during the chase around unmindgamable trash with a pallet saving survivor.
I find the ring a ring a rosie element of some people's playstyle tedious and the loss of bloodlust will likely increase that tedium.
I'm not enthused but I'm interested to see the outcome and will definitely try my hand at killer this weekend to get an (narrow and subjective) idea of how much I really crutch out on BL.
In typical fashion there has been a major overaction to even a suggested test of a change. Only time will tell.
I still think there are enough abusable loops in some maps that bloodlust is not entirely obsolete yet.
-
Yeah I get why they are doing it but It will really increase the tedium of the game without bloodlust.
Typically things aren't going well if you get to that stage in a chase but given how mindgames are becoming less effective and holding W is often a valid chase tactic I don't think we should write off bloodlust just yet. Think of the ring a ring a rosie simulator around the unmindgamable junk pile without bloodlust ugh.
We'll have to see how the test turns out.

None of that was going on. What I love about this community is someone says something they're ALWAYS crying about it we can't just have discussions about things. you point out something that seems odd to you or you don't like and you've got 5 people that are guaranteed to come at you and say you're just complaining and throwing blame around.
No I didn’t miss that at all. You don’t need to address each survivor individually but saying to your team that could have gone better if you didn’t rush the hook, is better than pointing the finger at the killer and expecting them to not capitalise on poor survivor game play.
You aren’t in a group with the killer either but you still direct your ire at them for your team’s failing. I’m afraid your reply is about as illogical as your initial complaint.
This scenario as described is no fault of the killer.
-
I play a lot of Doc he was my original main when I started. You can make some builds that really slow the game down as the survivors are missing skill checks also while dealing with your find em and shut down loops ability he's a bit of an all in one killer.
I think the reason people hate on him as if at anytime you struggle to hit skill checks, the constant shocking and anti loop can really slow things down and make it feel like you can't progress.
But in essence he's really just an M1 killer with lots of counters, you just have to be mindful of when when he's using his shocks. A lot of players are predictable about when they'll static blast jump in a locker jump out and be mindful of position in chase and he's pretty easy to work around.
-
He's one of my fav killers to play. Probably number 3 after Hag and Trapper.
He's kind of a blunt instrument, no setup, not real strategy other than find folks and mash em, but if you control and corner him well, while timing your saws you'll get those downs quickly.
Also while the original texas chainsaw massacre movie drags on a bit at the end, the chase scene in the middle looks like what DBD was based on, just watch it.
