Had a match like that last night as Doc, one survivor could run tiles like a beast.
In the end I just had to leave them and focus on the others for a bit till I could catch them out of position.
It ended in a 4k just charging around the jungle gym the last hook was in. They were unable to get the save but at the same time I just couldn't quite catch them. I think they knew it was over but really made me work for it.
Perhaps I should have given the hatch but it was such a monumental task to catch them that once I finally did I just had to hang em on a hook, my ultimate trophy for that game.
There was no hard feelings and mad props all round in the endgame chat. The way this game should be.

Well, whatever the reason, I’m tired of listening to Swamp crickets chirp while I work my gen, followed by a ride on Spirit’s shoulder before hearing any change to audio - aside from the jump-scare sound, that is.
Isn't that scarier to play against. Kind of the point of playing survivor.
-
There is a common theme on the forums of people calling for nerfs because they make bad choices in game.
I want to make bad choices and get away with it.
-
This game shines when killers are powerful and survivors are scared. Its the core theme.
I don't want to feel invincible as survivor I want to feel scared, just as with killer my goal is to scare you not play ring a ring a rosie simulator.

Indeed, completely devoid of empathy for the other side, no matter if killer or survivor.
This is why the game needs a mode against bots.
I'm not in it to grief and bully other players but on the flipside when I have to constantly think of their feelings while playing a merciless killer who's out to kill them asap before they escape, it kind of defeats the purpose.
Not every game has to be a mori murder fest but you can't tell me it isn't fun to do that from time to time, its the most thematic thing a killer can do.
-
From the description you've given, you had a team that played poorly and your response was to tell the killer they played to hard and should have adjusted their game to suit the poor play choices of the survivor team.
I can kind of see why they spat that back at you.
Why didn't you tell your team to make better choices?
-
I agree completely.
There are some grey areas though as yes survivors are on a team and the more coordinated they play the stronger their side is.
You can see where people's frustration comes from with survivor play, especually solo survivor play. Still this doesn't justify telling other people how to play.
I think like most games there is a subset of the community who take it far to seriously and typically they have a very narrow minded view of how things should be done.
Its why we get meta builds etc etc, what aspect of the game's mechanics can be exploited for maximum benefit, now exploit them in this particular way for the best chance of winning and rail against anyone who doesn't do that because its the wrong way to play.
People also tend to assume the worst of their opponents in a competitive setting so no matter what you do someone will take offence at it and view it as a malicious attack on their fun.
The best thing to do is just play the way you want to play and if you think something is overly exploitable take it up with the devs.
-
The last few DLC's have been meh fo rme.
I'm not a big silent hill fan, I've never found it scary its more rediculous. Also have you seen the second movie it looks like power rangers level of rubber suits.
Blight pinball/pong is just a sorry power, for what could have been a great killer.
The twins is an interesting idea but it looks convoluted and easily countered by current game mechanics, this may change but what I've seen so far does not thrill me.
I don't mind new content but some QOL focus would be good. Also some better new content would be good.
-
So someone has to play nice beacuse you want to play nice, did you ever stop and think that they are just playing how they want to play?
-
ugh no, it's a slippery slope from horror genre to comedic parody.
-
Yeah if the killer is farming just burn through gens and leave. Most farming killers will leave you be if you aren't participating.
A match in which the killer is not pressuring gens doesn't go much longer than the DC penalty and if they do hook you there is a get out of jail free pass right there.
Also bleed out is 4 mins just get downed and bleed out and keep crawling if people try to heal you, don't struggle if you get picked up.
It might not be great that you don't get to play the game the way you want to play it every match, but its not worth rage quitting over and yes it is a rage quit, just a different sort.
-
Like people who quit social media they first have to make multiple posts about how they are quitting, your narcissistic personality disorder on display for all.
Classic. LOL
-
I'm a big fan of Hag's its so visceral.
I wish I recorded that last game, I mori'd Lori and the camera panned to behind some barrels in the lab. All you could see was the feet twitching and then the hag walking away licking her fingers through the small gap, it was very horror movie scene.
-
Yeah I prestige'd the doc for the bloody lab coat because it's thematic but I'll be damned if I could be bothered doing any others. Especially for nothing but a blood soaked cosmetic that often doesn't look that great.

You ever that think survivors are playing toxic coz you brought a mori in the first place?
I find toxic behaviour across the board mori or otherwise. Basically the best way to play this game is to just play your way and enjoy it. I doesn't mean you have to try and grief or ruin others game experience but frankly if people get upset over basic game mechanics then there is not much you can do.
I don't bring a mori every game but I enjoy using them when I do and they are part of the game. I like the way you put the onus back onto me though as the cause of toxicity because I brought a legitimate game item into the game.
Mori or not there is no excuse for toxic behaviour and if people think that they are justified in being unpleasant because of a mori then once again they are the problem.
-
Its probably more accurate to say its played best as a casual game.
Anytime you have competition some group are going to take it seriously and often that group are the killjoys. Play the way you want to play and that's all you can really do.

Players that can't win without moris are objectively bad.
If you love the animations so much you could easily run Devour or Rancor, two perks that are actually balanced, instead of an auto win, game ruining, mori. I bet you expect people to believe you when you tell them you read Playboy for the articles, too.
I don't expect anything. I run rancor and DH when I feel like it and I run mori's when I feel like it and there is nothing wrong with either.
You are great at making assumptions and unrelated accusations without much substance, debate is not your strong point, you should quit while you're behind.
I won't be replying again as you have demonstrated you are incapable of objective opinion you are here for a tit for tat fight and I have better thinsg to do. Never argue with a fool they are to dumb to understand their own point, let alone yours and you buddy are a fool.
Mori's and keys are fine people just need to sack up, play the game and stop all the whining.

Yes, surely negativity is the reason why the community is toxic, definitely not bad players going out of their way to ruin the game for others by abusing an overpowered game mechanic in order to fulfill their pathetic power fantasies.
What a bad ######### joke.
You make some assumptions about my game play because I brought a mori, again that is the problem here.
Check your assumptions. You have assumed my state of mind and my intention and they are both negative perceptions.
This is what I'm talking about. The game may be competitive but that does not make it inherently malicious, you assume and attribute maliciousness to a mechanic, why I don't know but I'd guess you don't enjoy it so it must be malicious.
I reckon all killers should have a built in mori after second hook and get rid of ebony mori's all together, it would increase the horror threat of the killer and prevent the one hook mori abuse.
Now I'm sure most people have one hook mori'd at some point, but I do it usually in response to obnoxious survivor behaviour. I have a tool to improve my game state and I'll use it if necessary. Otherwise its a back up threat to add a lil more horror and some sweet animations to the game.
The abusive closure of your post kind of highlights my point, you could have objectively responded but you chose to make assumptions and then belittle my post another great example of forum toxicity.
-
Hey man enjoyment is all about mental attitude if people get pissy about loss then change your perspective.
I don't care either way but here I have given folks a head cannon option so they always feel like its a win.
This game is fun and most of the time a positive experience, but with all online gaming it can be a toxic ######### storm, just look at all the negativity on the forums alone. How many times have you been gossly abused by random arseholes in endgame chat. I've lost count.
The original post was aking how do you value a 2k is it a win loss or something else.
I say every game is a win because as killer I am dictating the game, 0k 1k 2k 3k 4k I win :)
Because in the end it doesn't matter its an online game against random strangers, they could just as well be bots really so just play and have fun and to hell with the rest of it.

Is there anything I could say to convince you to leave sooner? Let me assure you nothing of value would have been lost.
See this is an example of the general bad player base of this game. Mori's can be used obnoxiously but many people don't do that, but we all get lumped together just by bringing one.
I like the animations, I think they make the killer scary as you can die quickly, I enjoy using them and facing them because the game intensity goes up a notch when they are used. If I get mori'd as a survivor even after one hook I just queue again no big deal.
To say that I should quit because you can't hack being mori'd is a great example of the kind of game community negativity that really kills the dbd community. I'm sorry mori's upset you but that's a you problem.
-
I've turned it on again and the game is running fine, if I have FPS issues again I'll turn it off, as that's what fixed it last time. Queue times remained largely unchanged as killer with either setting.
I'm guessing there is a glut of survivors and a lack of killers.
-
Its easy to cry SWF, but I think most often its just really bad match making.
That said when you get three rank 1's and a rank 15 who is maxed on all their perks its a bit sus.
Usually gameplay will tell you if people are grouped up or not, its often pretty clear when there is a high level of coordination or not. Even when its a team of two and a couple of randoms it can be pretty clear.
That said it is my dirty pleasure to wreck teams that do this being a former red rank who's had enough and has managed to drop all the way back to the low greens. :)
-
Yeah I find red ranks to be a mixed bag really. Probably the worst abuse that has been levelled at me, also the most obnoxious in game behaviour has been in the red ranks, and to a similar extent the purples.
The latest challenge was to bust my butt back to the greens while still earning bloodpoints, try it, its harder than you think to get 50k+ BP's and not at least safety pip.
Casual gaming is the bomb, the competitive board flippers can have their red ranks.

@White_Owl said:
I disagree. Chases are the core of the game, simply because it's in chases that there is interaction between players. As a survivor I prefer stealth over chases, but still a match without at least a good chase is a boring one. Not to talk about the killer pov, spending a lot of time trying to find someone to chase (= to play with) is extremely boring.
Yeah but define a good chase.
Across several sections of the map with mindgames and doubling back is a lot of fun even if it costs you a gen its fun.
Around and around the same rock till the pallet drops then around and around the next rock till pallet drops is really really lame.
-
Hey I like the chase aspect of this game it's a lot of fun however the typical gameplay is run around the same piece of trash three times.
When someone starts just running in circles around the same un-mindgamable junk trying to save the pallet for as long as possbile it just irks me. Not because its hard to counter but because its really dumb.
Ring-a-ring-a rosey simulator isn't that fun and baiscally if you are the kind of person who tries to play the abuse hitbox mechanics by running around and around the same piece of trash I'm quite happy to one hook mori you.
Not because it upsets me but its just not that much fun to play against and I'd rather not really play with you. So I either ignore you or remove you asap.
-
You're thinking about i tthe wrong way.
As killer I win every game as those who survive do so by my choosing.
I killed the one guy I decided should die and the rest lived or I killed everyone because they all deserved to die. Every outcome is the result of my choice to let you live or die.
Sure I'll still scare, chase and hit you but that's because I'm a monster who's out to hunt you, whether or not you die as a result is up to me.
So I always win no matter how many K's :)
-
Mori's are the only thing keeping me playing at this point.
The general obnoxiousness of most players these days means that the mori is one of the few things I derive a lot of joy from.
Having a fun game only use it if you need it, having a kind of toxic game one hook mori and get it over with.
They are a blessing, if they go I'll probably go with them.
-
I think the key here is that tunneling off hook and camping can be consequential to gameplay. Where butt dancing at the gates is just fools mashing buttons, it has no consequence at all.
Chase em out the gate or just wander around the map doing other things like breaking left over pallets/walls, set a trap 50 times till you are maxed out on BP etc.
I mean lets look at "tea bagging/butt dancing" objectively. You'll wait out the egc adding unnecessary wear and tear on your own equipment to teach me a lesson, yeah sure knock yourself out buddy.
Its possibly the dumbest revenge play anyone has ever come up with as it literally has no consequential impact outside of the egc timer which the killer can directly counter by chasing you out if they choose to. If they choose not to chase you out you still waste your own time as well, so 90% of the cost of "tea bagging" at the gate is born by the guy tea bagging. If you think that's an adequate revenge play then you might not be the sharpest tool in the shed.
Not worth being upset about. Its basically announcing to other players that you are dumb enough to think this is worthwhile doing.
-
Bill would never vape because he's a dude not a douche.
-
First ever 4 kill, was with the hag. She's been my main ever since.
Last game with the Slinger, got a million to one shot through a window from a long way off, didn't get a hit from it just really happy with the shot. Icing on the cake was the last survivor butt dancing at the open exit gate, harpooned, dragged, downed and hooked for the 4k, it made me smile.
Next time just leave buddy.
-
Apart from a few comments here I don't think I've ever seen anyone say Jason doesn't belong in this game or that they don't want him. Basically I think it all boils down to IP lawsuits, when they are settled he will probably make an appearance. At least one can hope.
-
The answer has already been given and I'm sure its mostly to avoid toxic survivor butt dancing, that said though there is a pragmatic objective response and its about blood points.
Typically at the end of a match I'm maxed out on chase and survivor found so the only thing I can get coming to the gates is 300 (I think that's right) points for a hit which is not always guaranteed. Typically I can get more points breaking unbroken pallets, walls and maybe finding and closing the hatch as usually not everyone leaves straight away. So I go to the gate and potentially get nothing for my efforts or I go around the map and clean up as it were. Also if the timer gets low I've had survivors come back in to try and taunt, only to get caught and killed for their efforts.
There are a lot of unsafe pallets you don't have to break when they first drop and they make for a good task during the egc if its a 4E steamroll.
Yes I could get more for hits but many survivors will run out the door without me getting the hit, often using deadhard just to rub it in. For the non-toxic survivors who want to share the points I'm afraid you are often outnumbered by this toxic behaviour and that makes it a no brainer to do other things, if there are any to do, when it comes to the egc. If there is nothing to do then you can chase everyone out and call it a day.
The fact that the egc is necessary in the first place says a lot about player behaviour, it was introduced because people weren't leaving, dragging out the match indefinitely.

what I always thought they were trying to do with the pinball mechanics was something like the monster movie chases, like how a creature slams into the wall and then chases it's prey with a renewed fervor kinda deal. While at first I always expected the alchemist to be a killer that will experiment on survivors injecting them with serum and what not, I love the route they went with him, he's turned into an addicted monster with some of the best lore in the game, honestly though, and I know it's your opinion, but if you really think that it's better to chase and M1 normally all I can say is just keep practicing him, you can do some insane downs with him once you can rush properly. His power lies in cutting off survivors, and if he applied deep wounds (unecessary imo) or instadowned at base he would be so op
I agree he would be op with the added effects on the dash but with the tight loops and jungle gyms I find the dash only really pays off when set up just right otherwise its really just quicker and easier to bash someone with m1.
I don't have any trouble getting the hits and the downs using the dash, its just outside of the obvious plays were you can cut off a survivor I find it more efficient to just m1. The power is different sure but outside of adding mobility I just feel like it doesn't offer enough to be a killer power. Often a well placed mindgame is more effective than a well placed dash and it comes with less of a cool down.
If you could curve him more like old billy maybe but I think every time I've curved well with him its because of the slide bug on some obstacles rather than the power itself.
If you enjoy him great more power to you, I'm struggling to find the enthusiasm to continue playing him.
-
On the topic of tunneling for the DS, the great irony of DS, is that it gets more powerful as the game progresses and pressure becomes more valuable, so tunneling it out early when you have time is an effective strategy against it.
-
I'm the opposite I'm afraid.
I love the theme, the idea is great. I find the execution rediculous. Yeah it has some functionality with traversing the map but I find its better to just chase and m1 normally in most cases. I really find the whole "ping pong/pinball" element just ludicrous and cartoony, it really kills what could have been a dark gothic horror killer.
I got him to 40 and have called it, his perks are pretty good and now they are unlocked I'll park him for a bit.
Maybe if the dash applied deep wounds or was insta down I might feel more inclined but its kinda annoying, unimmersive and I really don't like it.
I tried to like it I really did try too.

Performance has declined with the last three patches, and I've had Crossplay off on my Xbox since day one for killer. Survivior is mostly playable aside from the indoor maps. Looks like our PS cousins got it the worst this time around.
Looks that way. At least there is a sizable console population (or so my console buddies tell me that wait times haven't been impacted much by turning it off), I've found after a week that the PC pop can go up and down quite a bit, some days are insta queues, some days are a bit of a wait.

I do play killer on a slightly competitive level lol
Yeah the aim dressing can screw you over from time to time especially when it makes you smack an object when you are clearly looking at a survior, thats annoying. If it happens in a dead zone and you just whiff in a circle, this is called a 360.
If you miss a swing on an unhooker. That is a miss, their hitbox doesn't dissapear or anything, you are lunging from too far away. Move closer and grab them.
Dead harding after being hit into dying state? Or did you miss and then they used DH?
It feels bad sometimes playing killer I know , but the game is not screwing you over im sorry to say
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1704423#Comment_1704423
Nah im just not biased towards one side, but keep whiffing good sir
Your points are valid here but there is a substantial amount of frame drop and stuttering that affects both killers and survivors.
I find these stutters happen typically when an event takes place, like a gen pops or I achieve bloodlust. I get them from time to time just wandering around the map but they are most impactful during chases. They make jukes rather powerful, as you stutter to the point that even if you track the survivor well and time your hit you've stuttered into an overturn and when the framerate catches up you are facing the wrong way, swing and a miss.
A lot of potential hits are going by as misses as a result. (I'm not saying I never get outplayed but the stuttering and frame drop has some substantial effects, all of which lengthen chases a key component of the game). This has only become problematic for me since the last couple of patches and I got a substantial improvement after switching off crossplay.
I definitely have a "better" (as in less laggy) game with a lobby full of other PC players when compared to a lobby of crossplay icons.
Yes 90% of losses are likely to be human error over machine error, however this new level of frame drop and stutter has exacerbated any error I make meaning that recovery is that much more difficult and as such overall gameplay experience is diminished.
I think that's an issue worth pointing out.
-
@bm33 said:
Crossplay felt extra laggy when I had it on, turned it off and just have regular console performance issues.
I can't speak for the console experience as I play on PC but things have definitely improved. Also match making is less rainbow and more in line with my rank/experience too. Its just been an overall better experience.
Until they iron out the preformance bugs I won't be switching it back on.
-
Try turning off crossplay, my matches have been better in terms of rank since I did.
-
picked him up the other day, love the idea hate the power. When I think scary/horror the classic gothic horrer alchemist consumed by his work is a tried and true theme.
I don't often think horror = pinball and ping pong, can't say I find them scary. I just find it feels really really silly to be headbutting stuff so I can dash and bounce off the next thing.
-
Yeah every game so far with bubba has him starting out like a park statue pose.
-
@Dacrenon said:
An offline mode would embolden a lot of people to test out killers with more difficult mechanics to them (ie. Nurse) and could ultimately lead to healthier gameplay as survivor-only players may become more willing to play dual roles on live servers after enough practice.
Yeah I don't often play nurse as I find I rarely get many hits in and its over before I really get a feel for her. She is probably one of the spookiest characters though and her power is really unique. I'm tired of getting flahlight blinded and BM'd agin and again just because I'm not very good at her.
It kinda turns me off playing some of my less played killers.
-
I'm considering quitting too, this game is starting to run its course and is getting rather unpleasant to play.
-
So basically there is a bug the renders her phasing useless because you can easily determine directionally where she is. This isn’t a good thing game wise.

I can't speak for the clown, and im not trying to. Just speaking for myself
Yeah but that's kind of the point of the counter posts, are we watching 5 people have fun or 4 people grief a less experienced 5th?
A casual game doesn't have to be a tedious repetition of stuns, where survivors are baiting the killer constantly to just stun them again while they film it. When you step back and look at it objectively its kinda like yeah it could be a laugh but I'm not sure everyone was in on the joke and its a very repetitive joke.

I'm sure its fun up to a point, but would eventually get tedious.
Imagine a game where you got up and the killer knocked you down and you got up and the killer knocked you down and then you got up but the killer knocked you down and so on and so on and so on in rapid succession till you either bled out or all the gens got done by other survivors.
Its not something to get upset about but at some point you're probably gonna say eh this isn't much fun.

He had every right to say “It’s Just a Game bro it’s not that deep” at the beginning of that video because that is the problem with this community, Someone always has something negative to say. God forbid someone uploads a survivor gameplay video of them having fun but it’s okay for a killer to upload videos of them moring survivors and slugging at 5 gens etc. and have nothing be said? Hmm... you see how the coin can flip the other way now?
Think about this objectively. Its a game with a difference that would probably make any generally un-serious player chuckle but I think the novelty would wear off eventually. Yeah 10-12 stuns sure but once you start hitting the numbers of 20+ it starts looking less and less like people mucking about and more like a group of people baiting another player purely to grief them with stuns.
Its clear by how the killer moves that they aren't anticipating the survivor movements very well, and are likely a less experienced player, so how long do you assume they found this fun for?
Personally I'd say its not unrealistic to assume that initially it was "wow that got me good" and eventually became "ffs enough is enough".
So at what point do you think you could say what we are watching here isn't five people having fun but four people poking fun at a fifth.
This isn't killer vs survivor debate so please don't make it one. Its an, I found this funny, but did everyone involved find it funny or just the survivors? We don't know and it doesn't look like it would be much fun after the first little bit when the joke would wear thin.
You could just say toughen up its a game sure but the same could be said about your example of mori's and slugging. Also the idea that making videos where survivors grief killers because killers grief survivors is a lackluster excuse at best and one of the major problems with online gaming. Basically the ######### behaviour begets more ######### behaviour and it spirals on and on.

Toxicity is refering to people as "dumb #########" for playing the game. Ok they didn't play it well but seriously, you are complaining about in game toxicity while holding an attitude like that toward the game, it will be toxic to you no matter what takes place.

The idea that everything needs counterplay is what has ruined this game the most.
People want it so that no matter what the killer is doing there's always a chance to outplay them in that moment and come away unscathed. Survivors who run to the killer and then complain that something doesn't have counterplay.
It makes for a bunch of boring, underpowered killers where you have to sweat to make progress, and then you have that progress stolen away by an abundance if second chance perks.
Sometimes the counterplay needs to be "run away before it's too late."
I agree.
More of the game needs to be run away before its too late.
I find survivors who want to be chased often kill the immersion for me.
