Oh, while the MMR system is certainly having a moment, OP wouldn't be seeing any of these doom squads unless they were showing some proficiency, for sure.
That said, there's no good excuse for a player in their first few months to be facing 10K hour survs (or killers). I'm at 2.5K hours and just hit devotion 10, and I really struggle with players on that level.
There is good excuse though. Here's an example. Player, completely new to DBD but an FPS veteran buys slinger and trickster. Watches a view otz videos on how to play before starting. Mows through the other new players, so the system puts him against mid mmr players. He continues to get 3 or 4ks, understanding the basics of looping and gen layouts after maybe his first week playing. It would now be reasonable for the mmr system to test this player against the higher brackets, would it not? The system wants to know, is this a smurf? Or does he just learn fast? Does he belong higher? To answer those questions the system places this new killer against veteran survivors.
-
If you start playing the game, learn quickly, and dominate the other new players, you will be "tested" by the algorithm against better and better players. Just think of it as the game saying wow, you learned fast! Let's see what you can really do!
I'm sure you are getting a lot of angry responses from people here who hate the matchmaking system, but really you should take it as a compliment from the game itself. Keep getting better, and you'll beat those 10k hour people too
-
The reason why you feel like you are getting camped by wesker is most of the weskers you are facing are very new, are immediately frustrated by his buggy power, and realize that they have 2 hooks with 1 gen left. So they camp, it's only logical
-
I don't think it would be good for bhvr to lean into this because a big part of deathslinger is shooting over and through obstacles. This is not an option with wesker
-
Yeah let's nerf the perk that turns off after 10 seconds. Remove the new passive, I don't care about that tbh
-
@Akumakaji said:
BTW, what exactly does his meme add-on, the jewel beetle do? The extention mid grab, is this how far away a survivor can be to grab them? Or how far you will slide after a grab in order to push them against a wall?
the jewel beetle means that you get less distance after grabbing to slam them into a wall
-
The real HARD counter to wesker is called the "rock infinite" where you run around a small obstacle in a circle so he physically cannot use his power
-
Blast mine is a meme perk anyways, don't pretend like it stops the killer from kicking gens. If I get blast mined, I just stand there until I can see again and continue applying call of brine
-
Not sure if this falls under your list but bounds that should hit at a window or pallet have about a 50% chance of causing the survivor to scream but not doing damage
-
this post is why I run plaything pentimento devour hope
-
I think most people agree about this. The sweet spot is probably between the current value and the PTB value. I am sure they will hotfix it soon
-
You know, I never thought I would ever be the one saying this. But...
Let people enjoy things
-
There is counterplay to nurse, it's just hard to think about and people don't want to adjust.
The counterplaty is: to do things that no sane survivor would do against other killers. Take horrible pathing at random, and then normal pathing next time she finds you. Be the most unpredictable player in the server
-
Being a highly popular survivor means that on average, you will see more bad fengs and megs than any other
-
He has a couple useful ones, but not more than PH. I have been killed by the z block multiple times lol

Realistically, what is the point of playing Deathslinger, when he is outclassed by every single other killer in the game.
His addons are by in large, are either bad or QOL.
His power is not garunteed to work even when used correctly (chain block).
He cannot down over pallets, yet artist can down at any range and through geometry (not to mention has 115% move speed).
His nerf has made him painful to use and unfun.
His power gives an audio que warning when used correctly, even though its limited range (ringing bell audio warning).
I just want to know why. Why does a Trickster give less than a single brain cells worth of effort and energy get 1000x the results I get for patience and accuracy at any range, while even when I manage to push through the crippling depression that is Deathslinger, I'm not even garunteed a hit or down.
Is it because K-Pop just makes more money? Why.
No way a slinger player is going to complain about add ones. You have 1 amazing iri, 1 ok iri, 2 great purples, 2 great greens, some OK yellows, and a couple of useful browns.
Nemesis has 1 usable add on
Pyramid head has 2

I tried everything. Sadly in solo I have no way to say to my teammate "leave" even if I point at the exit. I'm hopeless. I'm also sure that this challenge is too situational. I need to hope to arrive to end game (which is ok) but I also need to hope that my teammates leave and that the killer closes the hatch. I've never seen a killer closing hatch when all survivors escape from the exit gates
My only 2 successful key uses occurred when my teammates did not escape from gates, but rather all died. Killer closed hatch and began to patrol doors.

Killers are already running 4 regression perks though.
I would encourage you to read my post more carefully. I know that some never stopped. I said that in the post.
-
@Pulsar said:
Perhaps I'm being a bit too naïve, but I am willing to wait and see.
If it does prove to be a problem, those Survivors will be running something like: Built to Last, Hyperfocus, Stake Out and Streetwise. You could just tunnel them out of the game and there's not much they could do.
Yeah, I have thought about that too. Another counterpoint to my own argument, is every toolbox build andy is one less person using a medkit...

@brokedownpalace said:
Didn't realize they ever stopped using 4 regression perks
Yeah, there are too many of those. Too many people don't realize that there is more room for fun and error in 6.1. But I see "fun" killer builds in my survivor games too
-
Hop in a random locker in the end game so teammates don't feel like they need to stay for something?

I do not base it off of my own ability but rather, people who are considered to be good at the game.
I've had the opportunity to play against a couple of those people. People with 7K+ hours who stream the game for a living. Like I said in my original comment, I do not get to play against them consistently, I imagine the matchmaking system is too funky for that. However, I was able to keep pace with them while they were, at the very least, trying a little bit.
I'm confident enough that I'm perfectly willing to say that I don't get real high-level teams often, which is something at least.
Correct answer, honestly. That's about how I see my games too. It really depends on the time of day and how many people are in each queue. All we can do is look at hours of teammates, the odd streamer in our game, or how many bug abusing blights, etc
-
Off the record now does it better and is available to people who don't want to pay for DLC. So why buff it?
-
@Pulsar said:
It's funny that you think you're playing at a high level.
I will grant you that, at the highest level, you do end up needing to tunnel or camp based off of RNG.
However, the VAST majority of players will never see that level of play. I don't even see that play consistently. Most players that do tunnel and camp use it as a crutch. It's easy and it works but it can destroy your growth as a Killer.
You have just the same ability as OP to determine whether you are in "high level play" or "the killer is bad and using a crutch". which is zero. lmao
-
I play nurse, and watched that video. Both great suggestions and would make the game better
-
we literally just got a killer sided patch, 6.1. what exactly are you on about? as an 80% killer player, if you don't think 6.1 helped killers, yeah you might as well quit lol
-
Keep it the same as it was before the buff. 4% stacking, not 5.5
-
I think you forgot that in the game's code, hatch does not count as a win...
-
The game is winnable if there is 2 or 1 gen left and 2 survivors. Do the gen and believe that you or the other guy will get the chase of their life
-
@Kaitsja said:
How are y'all doing? Like, in general.
Pretty nice. Game is good, life outside the game is good
-
Good enough to be high mmr at the 3 killers I play the most, executioner, nurse, and artist. Middle on most others, and then probably still in new player mmr with blight. For survivor, probably just above average
-
The trapper gets 4ks every day! surely, we should nerf him right? that's the type of logic you are using here. 1 blink nurse is objectively trash
-
you will take my spasmodic breath/bad man's last breath combo from my cold dead hands
-
nothing wrong with slugging for 4k when you have seen, or have a good idea of where the last guy is. however if he's in a locker on the other side of the map and you slug, you are cringe
-
He's pretty fun, but main event needs a rework.
-
purple range add on is really her only issue. other than that, you just need to get good. you beat nurse by playing the exact opposite way you would against any other killer. do things that would get you killed against normal killers. go for the most idiotic pathing and plays at random. that is how you outrun nurse.
additionally, if you run more than 2 slowdown perks on nurse, you are a baby. she does not need that. you can 4k most of your games only running jolt for slowdown, even against good teams. I say this as someone who plays nurse quite a bit. if someone escapes through a gate when you're running pain res, dms, deadlock, and jolt all in the same build with NURSE, you are the entire circus. playing nurse with perks like that is like lebron going to the local park and dunking on 10 year olds

M1 Nurse? That's bound to get a "WTH lol" out of me at least, I think I'm gonna try if I ever decide to play killer.
It’s surprisingly fun!
-
Last patch I was escaping ~70% of the time as survivor. This patch it’s more like 50%, as it should be

the game lasted 26 min since i record all my gameplay
and i didnt even start recording when the game started
only when i started my first chase but it was he first chase from the game tho
If the game lasted 26 mins and he said genrushing, the guy is trolling you or there is something very wrong with him lol

ow i didnt see that yet but it didnt matter really since no one was on a gen together
i guess it was more because the gen i was on was literally 99.99% finished when she grabbed me and i had deliverance so when she teleported i completed the gen
Yeah he probably just assumed the prove thyselves were on gens together if the game flew by, especially since he was playing onryo
-
Probably because your team has a total of 3 prove thyself, and he’s playing a weak killer.
-
That’s a chad build. Bravo

This is not true because I've been able to get a few of my friends to the game. When they started IW was one of the best perks for helping them stay alive. Now they don't need it because they are semi-decent at the game and have put a little bit of money in the game to get perks such as off the record. Which is now better imo if you are able to be healed within the 80 seconds. Proving that a new player will buy perks just to make themselves a little more powerful, whereas the die hard people that have been around for a while will have already purchased this.
I think we are using different definitions of “new player”
-
They are not going to calculate a new kill rate after 12 hours of update lmao

Jesus the amount of people that don't read and comprehend what they are reading is insane on these forums. I said new players bring in much more revenue that those that have been around for a long time. You may spend $40 on new AoT skins but a new player has to buy the game and then they end up spending money on skins and other dlc you probably already own. Please read the post next time.
New players will not quit or avoid the game because of this update. They didn’t play the game before, so they never relied on dead hard and iron will as crutches. They will continue to buy the game, which is currently on sale

Jake was free same with David. I do agree that DH needed a nerf but iron will is one of those perks that if you start out with you have a much higher chance of hiding from the killer. One of my major concerns is that the best perks will now all be locked behind a pay wall. Why pay to get the perks when you lose every game?
wow, I guess Meg, Bill, Dwight, Claudette, David (WGLF) just don’t exist anymore huh
-
LOSE revenue? After collabing with attack on titan! LOL
