If you ask me any action any player makes during EGC in general should reward more points. Sorta like the "Late Sacrifice" bonus and the general increase in altruism gain at endgame (that's still in the game, right? π)
Specifically giving a bonus for hits and downs the killer gets in/near an open gate sounds cool as a general rule as well, and I guess that's sorta related to your idea.
-
Suit yourself. If people just say GG and nothing more and you choose to look deeper into it than that you're only setting yourself up for unnecessary annoyance and frustration if you ask me.

GG in postgame chat.
Okay then.
A lot of people (me included) are quite simply used to saying GG almost automatically after a match unless there was a straight up cheater in it or something. That's how it has been in most games I've played throughout my life.
If someone thinks "no, it was bg" in their mind when they see someone say GG they can simply not respond. If they look even more deeply into it and think it's some sort of ironic bait/mockery then.. well, in the vast majority of cases they simply think it's deeper than it really is. Most people would just use ggez or something if they really want to be trolls.

Right, but how are players supposed to know what is against the rules without official communication?
The percentage of players that come to the forums is small.
Yeah, it should honestly be easily available in a to-the-point way in-game, I agree there. Both the EULA as well as more detailed explanations about stuff (like what counts as "taking the game hostage" and such)

No, not a forum post, an official link, link the EULA. Not everyone comes to the forums, just wondering about the official communication of what is allowed and what is not:
Ah, alright. Forum post I linked does have a link to the EULA near the top. The post does specify a few extra things (such as specific things that should not be reported and the like). π

You're right. But SWF, rushing gens and all of that isn't toxic either.
Actions aren't toxic, period. The mindset someone has might be, but the actions themselves? Nah.

Feel like killing them with kindness works better. Someone like this is likely to burst a blood vessel if you reply back "GG, hope everyone had a fun game"
Oh, I personally agree with that. I generally either just say gg or nothing unless someone else starts talking, and then I don't mean trash talk but if someone starts asking about someone's build or something funny that happened in the match.

Whenever I am being harassed, I fight fire with fire and end up winning.
I can say extremely offensive stuff that gets to them and they become offended. It shows that they are a hypocrite and cannot handle the things I say.
Chances are, if you believe harassing is fine, then you would also be fine with what I say.
I am not afraid to speak my mind; I don't take kindly to those who harass others.
I hope that by "extremely offensive" you don't mean stuff that's potentially bannable. Because if that's the case you're quite simply getting successfully baited.
Totally agree there's plenty of people that can dish it out but can't take it at all though.
-
#1 Old Legion, nothing has ever even come close. Not gonna go too far into it but if the Legion played in certain ways with certain addons I can't really blame people at all.
#2 Spirit before the nerf. Don't really have much of an opinion on this one, but boy were there a lot of DCs.
Beyond that it gets a bit less clear to me. Some sort of mix between Nurse before her change, Doc once it was confirmed in-match he's going for the "impossible skillcheck" build sitting on a 3gen and who knows what else.
In my experience people don't DC against insidious Leatherface. They either suicide on hook or hang in there because they want him to lose 3 gens, a lot of the time when people give up on hook it's because there's 1-2 megamind teammates hanging around the hook for ages instead of doing anything productive.
-
What do you mean with "skill"? Mechanical skill? Skill in general?
Yeah, "mindlessly" hard camping at 5 gens and continuing even if no one comes and gens pop makes little sense (unless someone's "playing for salt" or gambling on over-altruism I guess), but knowing when it makes sense to camp or not is a type of skill just like knowing when to give up on a chase or knowing when it's better to heal vs doing other stuff while staying injured.
-
Yesterday because a killer with iron grasp + agi got way too greedy and tried to take me to the basement from another galaxy π
-
I always do that if a doc is farming, and I sometimes spam space to miss skillchecks instantly as well. If other survivors join in you have a symphony of screams on your hands.

Oh look you did again. "YOURE MAD BECAUSE ALL YOU SEE IS TOXIC SURVIVORS BUT IM A RANK 6 KILLER AND blah blah blah" Just like i said you were going to do lol. Nowhere in my post did i say i mad about toxic survivors, infact its to the contrary because most survivors are toxic, the only way you could be mad about it is if youre new. But you got offended immediately and want to pretend that killers beating you are just as toxic as the t bagging, hate mail sending, survivors.....Ok sure lol
What does upset me is that youre exactly who i want to talk to, you are the scummiest toxic player without a doubt, but instead of having any conversation you just get mad. Stay mad, stay toxic but im offering you attention!
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1052661#Comment_1052661
And as for you your question basically shuts down any desire to talk to you, if you dont even know what a toxic survivor is then why even reply? Why are you trying to give an answer if you dont even understand the question
Because its obvious question (why is the kkk racist?) everyone who plays DBD knows the culture but youre BSin because youre probably going to try to argue that killers are more or just as toxic as survivors, which isn't true sure, but more importantly is not the point of this post. The whole reason this post exist is because anyone that doesn't have their head in the basement understand the culture, in fact its a such a stupid argument because the thought process would lead you to explain why youre toxic. Obviously more the other guy than you since he raged right off the bat but wild guess, you would go down the same path. Though if i had to guess now youll just cling to ignorance while the other guy probably ######### talks, proving that he is in fact toxic....and nothing else because everyone already knows that
This is the part where i tell both of you to just say your piece and also the part where neither of you says anything of value if history repeats itself....and yet i still bother to reply lol
Actually that person asking what exactly you mean by toxic makes perfect sense. That word gets closer to being a meaningless buzzword every day as people have wildly different definitions for it.
To some people using a perk they don't like is toxic, to some people nothing that doesn't break the rules (like threats/racism postgame or blatant exploits/cheating ingame) is toxic. "Toxic", "toxic survivor" and whatever else can mean completely different things to two different people, and I'm sure it means very different things to you and me.
-
Slower I think, they also get to the "other side" of the window earlier in the animation so it's somewhat less likely they get hit.
-
Gen rush as a way to describe a match where the survivors did gens fast is one thing, it's just an easily understandable term for a game that went by real quick.
It's when people start using it more like gen rushers it gets silly. One is criticizing the game itself, the other is some sort of insult that's basically the same as "tryhard" and is just pointless whining.
-
Hours mean very little beyond someone who's clearly very new with like 20 hours or something. I guess 1000 hours is a pretty okay mark, it's when someone reaches four-digit playtime and it's not too ridiculous.
But obviously the answer I meant to give is the typical gaming one: however many hours I have. Less = noob, more = "nolife"! π
-
Sometimes, I like seeing my gameplay from other perspectives.

If i play both sides and dont main anything, is my opinion more valid?
Or does requesting nerfs for any side make me main the other side?
Sadly to some people it's the latter. You're in a superposition between the most hyperbolic and stereotypical killer and survivor mains that exist, and depending on how badly people want to get an excuse to ignore your opinion they can just put you in either camp. Afterall, even if you agree with someone on 99% of their posts, if you disagree on a single pet issue no matter how extreme and unfeasible it is you're clearly a smelly <other side> main π€‘ /s.. kinda at least.
At the same time I wouldn't say playing both sides makes someone's opinion inherently more valid though. Someone with deep knowledge of one side can still have very valuable opinions and insights on the game that you might not get elsewhere. No surprise if they're a bit biased, but everyone's biased to some extent. As long as someone is aware of their bias and can still discuss stuff in a constructive manner that's not inherently a bad thing either really.
-
Complaints and criticism is fine, I'm sure even the devs agree with that as long as it's remotely constructive.
Agree on the namecalling though. Some people make it seem like hyperpolarized politics, complete with hatred towards "fencesitters" or people that have mixed opinions and aren't all "my side good, other side BAD". Agree with someone on basically everything but disagree with them on their (perhaps extreme and unfeasible) pet issue? You're a filthy <role> main! π
-
You'll have more luck if you use language like advantage or unfair advantage instead of cheating.
Cheating is a very binary yes or no sort of thing. You don't get punished for doing it even if streaming or otherwise providing "evidence" of it yourself, so it's by definition not cheating. You can argue it falls under the rule against unfair advantages from third-party programs, but it's an explicit exception to that rule just like stuff like Nvidia Freestyle.
Believe me, interpreting that rule completely literally could lead to some very silly situations involving everything from streaming software to general recording software in pretty weird ways.
-
Demo has very good synergy since they can Shred their obsession and keep stacks.
Hag gets good value from it too in my opinion, as she can teleport + get a hit and then be ready to go again fast.
And on Clown it's just immensely satisfying to see his sick knife trick skills π
-
As an EU player there would be some... challenges involved with that for sure. Not everyone can speak English (or any other majority language in the lobby for that matter) understandably or at all, some refuse to speak it and that's on top of more generalized issues like people being dickheads in chat.
If they were to do this a contextual button + some preset phrases would be better in my opinion. Press the button to report on your "status" like "I'm in a chase", "I'm on a gen" and so on. And have some presets for harder to detect scenarios like "I'm going for the save". Unlike voice chat it can be localized.
Of course people could still troll. They could spam it, intentionally give inaccurate information and so on, but the same goes for voice chat anyway.
-
I guess I play it sometimes, it's rare though but sometimes me and a friend play R6S for a few hours and it's pretty fun. We play it pretty casually though.
I play way more TF2 even to this day and used to be pretty deep into its competitive scene to get my competitive "fix".
-
While it's not exactly that fun (for the survivors or the killer in my opinion) to just make people hold M1 more with their power I honestly feel some of it is just leftover hatred from before the rework, and the follow-up controversy with the infinite mending bug didn't help in that regard.
I don't mind Legion, in my anecdotal experience Legion players tend to be pretty adept at mindgames like many M1 killer mains which is something I always enjoy on either side, I like outsmarting people and getting outsmarted π
-
I'd assume the new system will still match SWF based on the best/highest rank, or in this case MMR. So you'll still get the equivalent of current 1-2-10-12 groups or whatever in that case if there's one survivor involved with high MMR if it works as intended.
And if we assume the system actually works properly, if you do go against people you consistently lose to your MMR will just drop until you get to a place where you win enough to maintain it. Of course we have no idea what the system will consider a "win" in the first place so that's a pretty big if right there.
-
Just because others are straight up wrong and list stuff that's clearly not working as intended being fixed as nerfs doesn't mean you should join them in being wrong by doing the same. And when I say "not working as intended" I mean stuff like the Legion mending bug or the Wake Up bug.
-
Probably the same way as it's supposed to work with rank at the moment - use the "best"/highest/whatever value in the party for matchmaking purposes.
-
Because it's a method of healing that you'll always have available. Doesn't matter if you're the last survivor, you get players that refuse to heal you no matter what or anything else - you always have the option.
The "claudette running to a corner to self care every time she gets hit" thing isn't because of self care itself. It's because people that insist on using the perk no matter what sort of situation is going on.
And it's also great for players that aren't as confident while injured as many more experienced players. It's easy to say "lol just loop while injured" when you're confident in your ability to do so, but a lot of people aren't. So they equip self care.
-
I'd imagine more and more games will have "Streamer Mode" options. And of course they help the streamer avoid getting sniped as streamsnipers can't as easily confirm they got in their match, but since it often replaces everyone's names with anonymized alternatives it hides the "identity" of other players too.
That's honestly the best options. Doesn't hurt anyone (except for streamsnipers I guess?) and doesn't involve punishing people.
EDIT: Even though for DBD a "streamer mode" should probably obscure real usernames + make everyone appear as default outfit characters in the pre-match lobby to actually make it work. Streamers that use such a function to avoid + discourage streamsnipers probably won't have t.tv/epicgamertime as their steam name at least as that would defeat the entire purpose π
-
Not at all, and with how common the perk is nowadays a killer should almost expect at least one unbreakable if they go on a big slugging spree. Outside of the DS + Unbreakable combo or generalized complaints about "second chance perks" in I don't think I've ever seen anyone complain about Unbreakable itself.
He's just mad. If anything I'm surprised he didn't cry about Adrenaline instead.
-
If you really think the devs auto-nerf anything that gets complained about "enough" do you really think NOED wouldn't have been absolutely nerfed into the ground by now? And moris? They've been complained about way longer than most things that actually got changed, and the only clear nerfs they've recieved are both very old by now (NOED infinite -> time limit -> hex, and moris requiring a hook).
It's not as simple as "oh, the complaints reached the arbitrary threshold! time to nerf!".
-
If you want to nerf it trying to interfere with VOIP is the least feasible option.
Absolutely impossible to enforce. People could just voice chat from other devices anyway, like using Discord on their phone while playing on PC or console. Even trying to do it is one gigantic waste of resources.
-
Don't worry, I honestly don't see how skill-based MMR can work for a game with such extreme differences in challenge for one side or the other based on killer, perks, add-ons, items, map, map generation, matchmaking, playstyles and way more things that player's might not be able to directly control.
Because SWF will never be removed or have mechanical restrictions or nerfs applied to it. To the point where it's nothing but a complete waste of time to even propose that particular approach.
-
Downed someone that had last second Delivererance'd off the hook a few meters away from the open hatch... and then picked them up before closing the hatch. The moment I pressed spacebar I had a serious "wait a second what am I doing" moment. Needless to say they DS'd me and jumped into the hatch.
Could've easily been prevented though so I still had a laugh at my mistake π
-
@Sairek pretty much nailed it on the last page. Obviously a lot of people would agree it's sort of a dick move, but it's impossible to actually enforce a rule against it. The player mentioned in this thread did admit to it, but what if they don't? Only ban if they admit it? Because then it'll pretty easy for snipers to catch on and never get banned.
And believe me banning for streamsniping based on any other evidence than a confession is a terrible idea. PUBG had controversial bans for it that made a lot of players feel like the devs only cared about big streamers, there's that one clip of Ninja playing Fortnite and accusing someone of streamsniping that made a bit of a splash. It's just not possible to fairly ban someone for it unless they confess to it, ever.
EDIT: Oh and on top of that if it's gonna get someone banned, that's something the streaming site someone's using should take care of. Just like you don't report people leaving really vile garbage on your Steam profile to BHVR just because it happened after a match of DBD - you report that to Steam.
-
Doesn't really matter, nothing mentioned is bannable in any way.
If survivors feed a hard camping killer kills, they messed up. If a killer throws the match to kill one survivor that annoyed them, the killer messed up and the other survivors responded to the situation correctly.
As long as people don't follow it up with actual bannable post-game behavior (so not calling people ######### at the game or mocking others, but actual slurs/threats and such) it doesn't matter.
-
Absolutely not.
It's inherently competitive in the "there's winners and losers, and someone winning might make someone lose" sort of way, but it's by no means the tournament-play sort of competitive.
Maybe with some sort of "Promod" like Confogl for L4D2? But otherwise no, at least not without sever restrictions on a lot of things in the rules.

Well, that shows another problem. People are throwing matches, just to complete these ridiculous challenges. I'm pretty sure these "challenges" are corrupting the data that the devs look into.
While I don't view it as much as a "problem" when it comes to statistics and such, I totally agree that people basically throwing to get challenges done can make match quality drop for sure. If you have 4 survivors all going for unhook challenges you already know it'll be a mess of a match π
I'd imagine the devs are aware though, and while data might be part of what makes them take decisions it's not gonna make them change something based on the data alone. Even the Ruin change wasn't exclusively "it's used too much", they had other motivations as well even if people disagree with them.

That survivors dont want to end the round, escape and additionally might be messing around because they can, isnt that pretty concerning in itself?
Not really inherently concerning. Matches where one side is capable of toying with the other will to some extent always happen unless the game had some sort of impossibly perfect matchmaking if you ask me.
-
Nah, that's taking one step too far into conspiracy theory territory if you ask me. It's far more likely they simply wanted to prolong the match and didn't really care about escaping if you ask me.
They could've also gone for challenges that require people to get hit/hooked, like ones revolving around healing or unhooking but still wanted to get some gens done too.

Like I said even if I was reported for this I doubt Iβll be banned or even suspended in my eyes he deserved it
Probably not, unless the player makes a proper report with evidence. And even then it doesn't sound like it's something you do on a regular basis anyway.
But no, people never "deserve" to be on the recieving end of something that breaks the rules for doing something that while a dick move isn't against the rules. In my opinion anyway. You could've done something like refuse to save/help them instead if you really wanted payback and that's completely allowed π
-
That is indeed considered reportable griefing unless I'm mistaken.
-
Because they happen to be the sort of people that like to taunt their opponents in video games, and/or they're happy to escape.
It's really not any deeper than that. In-game actions like tbagging, hitting on the hook or whatever else are completely irrelevant to how the game plays out anyway, and unpleasant but not rule-breaking behavior post-game can be hidden if someone's can't just ignore it and move on.
EDIT: And as said in the post below, a quick little "tbag" seems like it's often used as both a greeting in general and a way of saying "Thank you".
-
There's a reason most discussion is about other approaches, be it the "change base survivors and killers" aka the "buff solos + killers" approarch, indicators for SWFs, bonus BP, split queues or whatever else. They actually have at least a tiny little chance of ever happening.
Personally I'd like to extent the "never ever" to any form of mechanical nerfs like penalties to gen speed, perk selection or anything like that. It's quite simply never going to happen. And yeah, obviously the actual removal of SWF or attempts to interfere with VOIP apps are completely out of the picture, and anyone that has that as a no-compromises stance should just do themselves a favor and uninstall + never look back to be honest.
-
Sure, but I hope you're aware that the only way you can actually make any sort of statement whatsoever/"protest" is by simply not playing the game. But lets not remember classics like screenshots of the "Boycott Left 4 Dead 2" steam groups with the entire group in-game before talking about gaming boycotts π€£
-
Do keep in mind there's a challenge to sabo hooks so at least toolboxes make sense. More accessible than Saboteur, and faster too.
If they really want to bring an item they can just last second switch anyway. Plenty of killers that are willing to dodge lobbies but don't alt+F4 the loading screen so it does increase their odds.
-
It's not really that different to many other communities, there will always be some sort of obvious rift between parts of the community based on one thing or another.
Nothing inherently wrong with taking sides or even being biased as long as people are self aware and honest about it. But obviously people that use " ur a <role> main" and even convince themselves into believing it's an actual arguement are silly.
-
Considering that for optimal distribution you'd want 4 survivors for every 1 killer I'm surprised the difference isn't bigger. Obviously there's also people that play both and have both sets of achievements, but I don't see why it's surprising that there's more survivors than killers?
-
Would greatly prefer map sizes and strong central tiles on maps being reworked even if that takes longer than just making gens take more work to finish.
Changing gen speed isn't something you can simply do in isolation and be done with it. You'd have to change repair speed boosts, slowdowns, hook stage times and more to avoid undesirable results in one direction or another.
-
Depends, more likely to do it if some silly shenanigans happened during the match. If a killer simply chases one survivor all match and never changes targets they sadly need to learn that they're doing something wrong the hard way. A lot of the time when a killer genuinely gets obviously screwed by matchmaking or something and just give up they actually refuse to hook me even if I offer myself to them, and I guess I can understand if they don't want "freebies" in those situations.
I will never go out of my way to pointlessly screw killers out of achievements they're obviously going for though. If a Myers manages to tombstone 3 people I'm not gonna hump lockers just to screw him over, more than likely I'll just spam a locker and nod at him as he comes over. And I've offered myself to killers that seem like they're going for an adept achievement when I'm the last alive several times as well.
I never used to give myself up in any way as I needed that BP, but I'm at the point where I basically have all the perks I want on killers and survivors alike, and I have considerable stashes of add-ons and items on the killers I play a lot and my preferred survivors.
