This is not an honest suggestion, is it?
It's very hard to have real discussions, because someone is always trying to figure out what "side" you play for, what agenda you have, rather than actually discussing how to make things better. And if a suggestion involves a nerf of some kind, so many people rush in to say "Well nerf this for the OTHER side first!" and it's just so paralyzing.
So the solution is to not nerf anything.
I love dead by daylight. But nerfing sucks...

Hi guys, so I’m going to do a string of threads looking at controversial perks that people believe to be Unfair or Useless.
So i decided to start with the big one. NOED
When it was first introduced into the game. It only happened once an exit gate was open but there was no way to deactivate it. This wasn't held in the same regard as it is today.
In the 1.0.2 patch they changed the perk to work when all gens where completed, and this meant absolute hell for survivors and made the game a lot more stale.
How ever in the 1.0.5 patch they nerfed it so that it only lasted 2 minutes. And this basically just made all survivors wait until the perk ran out and wasn’t frequently used.
Around the same time the hag came out and brought Hex totems into the game. NOED changed to a hex perk. Now this originally was a good counter to gen rushing, and that was a giant problem back then, with shorter gen times, older toolboxes and don’t even mention brand new parts.
It slowed the game down as survivors were forced to look for totems that were pretty easy to find on most maps.
Now jump to today. The meta hasn’t changed that much. And totems are hidden all around a lot better so NOED has also gotten better, apart from specific perks like, inner strength and detectives hunch.
But NOED feels like more of a problem than ever. One problem is that it activates when the killer closes the hatch. And yea i know that technically does mean all gens are powered. so it does fit the description, but it doesn’t make much sense.
We can’t blame killers for using it however. If people get to the end of the game, how many times out of 20 would you say, All the totems on the map were cleansed. For the test I did it was 1. So there’s a 95% chance that it will activate.
Another problem is that it makes survivors not do gens. And you may say, that’s a good thing. But survivors should be being forced off gens by killers. NOED at the moment can be used for rewarding for the killer doing badly.
My dream change would be that. Every time you hit someone, you get 1 token. Up to a max of 20. When all gens are completed it activates aslong as there’s a dull totem left.
Every time you hit a survivor you use 4/3/2 tokens to instantly put them on the ground.
This is so killers can’t just win games because of NOED as they actively have to work towards it.
Any ideas for other perks I can cover? I’m thinking I’ll balance out Killer and Survivor.
I don't understand the issue. Doing bones is so easy. I clear all bones on my own most of the time.
If I don't clear them, it's becuz my entire team keeps dying and I have to constantly run unhooking and healing.
And using perks and maps makes it even easier. What's the problem?
-
I hope the devs ignore these entitled players.
DS, Unbreakable, NOED, BT, keys, mori's, gen rush, camping, tunnelling, swf, it's all fair game.
If a counter doesn't exist, that's fine.
-
I'm not scared of no NOED. I use to be when I was a noob. Once u understand NOED, it's easy to counter.
Only noobs and mid level survivors are scared of NOED.
I run small game. And clear all bones by myself. But I get occasional teammates who laugh at me for running small game and tells me I'm a noob. The guy doesn't realize the game was easier becuz I cleared all the bones off the map.
Half the games I don't even get hooked once. I survive most my games.
But a mid level survivor tells me I'm a noob and that I need to learn how to play.
Bunch of scrubs...

Whats bloodlust? Been playing this game without knowing what bloodlust is.

For the same reason when a survivor DCs at 5 gens, and the killer kills everyone left, the survivors rage at the killer and not the guy who DC'd.
I don't understand this. Survivors tend to point fingers at the killer and not the survivors. Why? Another reason I think survivors are toxic. Killer is innocent.

in my opinion it is toxic when the survivor wasn't doing anything to be toxic
A killer camping or tunnelling is just playing the game. There is no toxic involved.
Most noob killers camp and tunnel becuz they're supposed to secure kills. When they don't get kills, the entity is displeased. They have no intention of being toxic. They don't even know what that is. They are just playing the game.
It's after series of hate messages does the noob finally figured out what he's been doing is considered toxic.
The only ppl who tells him this are disgruntled survivors w a entitlement mentality.
The noob tries not to camp and tunnel after his startling revelation. Than gets bullied by toxic survivors. He figures out the survivors deserve to die, and goes back to camping and tunelling.
It is true, that it's toxic when survivors did nothing to be toxic. But camping and tunelling was never toxic to begin with.
-
Dbd on Xbox one x crashes.
Dbd on PS4 pro overheats on launch models. Fans sound like jet engine during loading screen.
Devs don't care. Devs do care about this game, and care about us as well. But they don't care about optimization on PS4 pro or Xbox one x.
-
At this point, I don't consider camping and tunnelling a toxic player.
A toxic player is who sends u hate messages, teabagging, saying nasty things to some other player. Racial, sexual, name calling, betraying teammates, etc.

Or, here's a tip: Stop being so sensitive to pixels going up and down. Like, good god. Someone T-Bags and you camp them to death? That's just childish imo. Grow a pair and stop being so triggered over something that has zero impact on a game.
But it's the survivor getting triggered ...
And it does not have 'zero' impact on a game.
Dbd is a mind game w emotions involved. That's why the teabagging exists. Becuz it DOES have a impact. It changes the way the game is being played.
A lot of things annoy ppl.
U gotta be a Buddhist monk w shaved head eating veggies all day, than u can play dbd without being triggered becuz u got camped. Or tunnelled. Or mori'd.
Hardcore StarCraft players would only laugh at ppl playing dbd. Perhaps this new generation of gamers are easily triggered.

I think the best solution to this whole problem is to not look at it as a problem.
Just let everyone play how they want and use and abuse whatever ppl feel like.
No hypocrisy required.
I'm kind of tired of the same post w different words w the following comments being the same argument.
Killer or survivor? Who are the toxic hypocrites...
Probably the one who comes to the forums to complain about the same exact thing that someone else complained about 5 post down.

@TheButcher said:
I think the dumb part is that the reason Killer's use these perks is to balance the game.
Pop is needed for balanced gen regression.
BBQ/Thrilling is needed to actually find survivors and keep the game active.
Undying is required to barely make Hex perks viable. (I'm only explaining this one because you included in your original post. Actually in higher ranks you rarely see hex perks even Undying because they are still so incredibly unreliable. It's easy to remember totem spanws, and it's not difficult to find them. Most spawns are even directly in most Survivors pathing)
The reason Survivors use these perks is to optimize additional second chances. When in a game where the Killer makes one mistake that will cost them the whole match.
It's extremely unbalanced and one sided when you actually look at it all statistically. Survivors only have a hard time because most were raised in the game relying entirely on the second chances, and being pandered too - they are not good enough or have the common knowledge of the game to know that with some actual learning they are unstoppable. Then when you get to high ranks - the best are the only survivors you ever face, making it awful for Killers. Sure in high ranks you get some bad eggs of survivors because leving survivor is easy, but you really only need 2 strong survivors in a match or SWF to completely decimate a killer that isn't Spirit, or Nurse (Killers that apply both pressure to survivors and gen's quickly).
I completely agree w this comment.
-
The only perk I see killers use a lot is bbq. Followed by undying w something combo.
Everything else is random.
-
Don't touch DS. Plz.... Just let it be. And stop nerfing killers.
-
Lots of ppl play dbd w their emotions. That's why survivors hate it.
PVP games should be emotionless to be more effective.
Sometimes tunnel and camping is not used strategically, it is used due to emotions.
Same as flashlight clicking and teabagging the killer.

"And that is why people keep asking you why you want to turn it off."
IRRELEVANT TO THE CONVERSATION.
I typed it big to make an impression. Why does it matter why I want it off? I want it off but I can't turn it off, and even when I can turn it off I'm punished for turning it off.
How you guys can even argue against this is astounding.
I completely agree. I play PS4, PC and Xbox.
Unless ppl played on Xbox before and after the crossplay, they would never understand.
My favorite platform for dbd was Xbox due to the great queue times. Now Xbox players suffer at the expense of other platforms, especially the PS4.
PS4 survivor queue time use to be like 20 mins. Now it's only 8 or so mins.

And I really don't care if guys look like crap. As I don't look at their face becuz I don't care about the guys. I only like girls.

All I know is that, there's only 1 rulebook in this game. It's made by survivors and designed for killers to play in a certain way. if killers don't follow it, they get guilt tripped and shamed.
-
Guys seem ok. But the girls face looks hideous up close. So I don't turn my camera like that.
Need a cosmetic of brown bag that covers the girls face. Only Kate is hot. The other girls can.... Go die I guess, idk.
-
I tried that pyramid head facecamping method today. I forgot the user who posted it.
But I couldn't get survivors to stick around. They just suicide on hook when they see me camping few meters away in the basement.
After the first survivor died, I just played normally and ended w 4k.
I guess survivors really hate it. And that's a good thing. Not sure why survivors get so mad about camping. I think it's a lot of fun.

You dc, you get the penalty. There's no way for bhvr to know if youre being a bad sport or "making a stand" so everyone gets the same treatment. I think that's why people who feel like they're making a point usually kill themselves on hook, avoid the penalty.
Does the spirit being on pc make a difference? Honest question, I've never really paid attention to who I'm playing on pc/console
PC killers are more lethal. Maneuver better. Screen is faster. No jitters. Overall PC killers are superior.
PC survivors are the same, they can perform moves console players can't.
If I'm playing killer, PC 4 swf team are really annoying and stressful to play against.

Crossplay is quite evident in the score screen, so it's not that 99% of players are "too lazy or uninformed" to turn it off. More likely, they just don't think the long queues are worth it.
Xbox never had long queue times. It has long queue times now that the crossplay is on.
It especially benefits PS4 players. PS4 had the longest queue time, ever. It's got much better now at the expense of Xbox players.
Being on Xbox, I wish crossplay never existed. It only hurts Xbox players in favor of other platforms.

I remember many years ago (about three years) I was once a baby bill hiding in a locker when I heard the terror radius of the killer. I escaped that match. But not before I was hooked on the game. I remember that game, and how useless I was omg lol I did like half a gen if I remember correctly.
What about you? Do you remember your first games?
I only remember being killer. I forgot how I was in my first survivor match.
But as killer, I didn't find anyone. Gens were done and they all left. I think I might of hit 1 person. That's pretty much it.
I never touched killer again until a long time later.
-
I hope they leave keys and mori alone. I love both of them. I think it's cool and fun, and makes the game harder. I don't care if other ppl find it unfair or boring.
-
I've camped before. But I never faced camped before. But I'm gonna go facecamp this weekend and see how it goes.
I'm kind of excited and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Salty survivors say it's boring becuz they lose and it irritates them. I think it'll be fun though.
If anyone has tips for the ultimate facecamping method, let me know.

Nah, DS is too powerful in late game. It needs the mechanic it has, but currently it negatively impacts killer gameplay. Sometimes you simply have survivors that you need to sacrifice ASAP and having to play around DS with those kind of survivors is simply impossible. If you think DS is fine as it is, go play killer and you'll see how much your gameplay exists around DS alone. It's the exact same reason why Undying and Ruin is too strong as a combination currently, because it forces you to play around Ruin the entire match rather than choosing to play around Ruin. I've even made the hardest killer achievement easily thanks to Ruin and Undying. That alone proves its too strong as a combination. But DS also has that effect on survivors. Survivors have reached originally hard achievements thanks to DS alone.
DS needs to be alterated, no matter how you spin it. The question simply becomes how. I am just one of many people suggesting something that could be a solution, and even though I am 100% biased to my own suggestion, I really think it could work the more I think of the effects it could have in the match.
I understand what ur saying and agree w ur points.
But that OP'ness u mentioned is what makes the game fun.

Yeah, but if the Killer is camping you, then you can buy them time. It is a courtesy that I'm sure you would appreciate yourself if you were working Generators and you saw that. The best way to cure a Killer of camping is for the rest of the team to milk those camped hooks and get everyone else out. If I hit a camping Killer, I'm there till the bitter end because I'll have him through two whole stages.
I agree. It also helps if the team sacrifice and switch out the hooked survivor towards the end of the struggling phase w a fresh survivor. This is totally doable as I've done it many times before.
All gens can be finished this way without anyone completely dead.
-
The better solution is to penalize the survivors who obviously DC.
Like survivor who goes down in 30 seconds into the match by a chainsaw. Killer picks up the survivor, but the survivor DC.
Or when the game becomes extremely one sided, survivor gets hooked for the 2nd or 3rd time, immediately DC.
Killer who DC after the ruin goes down 30 sec into the match.
Survivor who gets camped/tunneled, immediately DC.
U get the point. This will not harm the ppl who got random disconnect or game starts w a freeze as soon as the match starts, which happens on xbox.. Or when the PS4 pro overheats in the loading screen, etc.
-
I think DS should be left alone.
-
@Bootlegmoth said:
If you tunnel and camp you end someone's game quickly/prematurely. If you tbag you are just being an ass but doesn't effect the result of someone's game.
Tunnel and camp = ruin a game
Tbag = being an ass
Mind changed
Tunnel and camp - ruin game for survivor
Tbag - ruin game for killer
The subjective opinion of how it affects one side is the same.
However, Tunnel and camping is a valid strategy. It is part of the game and intended use.
Tbag is something the game isn't designed for, but survivors do to offend the killer. It's the same as sticking the middle finger at someone as ur walking out of the gate.

It's been 6 months now, so a total of 2 chapters, and 2 rifts
The total amount of LGBTIA characters in Dead by Daylight is now : zero :D
Not to be that girl, but for something, quoting Mathieu here, "important for him", 6 months, with 4 brand new characters, and the rifts giving lore on a lot of people... Zero is quite a pathetic number for a promised representation. This is even I would say hypocritical, and I'm even ready to bet (and would be happy to lose) that those words could completely be empty and that next June, for Pride month, we would get the same discourse about how representation matters and they could perfectly not have added since then anyone that is queer. Even Nea that is, like, largely the most queer-coded character did not getting anything that would canonize it.
And before you start, no i dont care about your blatant lgbtphobia, and no there is no debate about if there should be queer characters in dead by daylight (which at some point i can understand given it's a video game about murdering people), the point is : they publicly announced introducing sexual/gender diversity in their game aaaaand... nothing, absolutely nothing, and that you want or not that there are lgbt characters in dbd, the point is, they promised something, in a very formal way, and did nothing after, without even giving an explanation or something to say they changed their minds cause "oh no, maybe killing queer people in our video game is not so cool so uh, let's go back to our first plan". which, we'll be all honest, is bad whatever the context, see how halloween event went for example.
That's all, that was a rant, I hope they will prove me wrong, but for now, I just see just a little bit of queerbaiting from your part BHVR, but hopefully soon we get our rep, it's so important to Mathieu after all :)
Where's the promise?
-
I didn't even know dead by daylight launched on the Xbox series x.
Is it backwards compatible? Do I just pop in the dbd disk? Or is it in my library? Or u re buy the series x version of the game?
-
It's a Xbox issue. PS4 works fine. If it's too dark on the PS4, that means ur using a 4k tv or a low budget tv.
1080p tv from a good brand works well w PS4. I don't have any issues.
But it's too dark on the Xbox.
PC is the best though.
-
I don't get tunneled much unless the other survivors put the killer into that situation.
I get camped for looping the killer though.
But every survivor who thinks they get tunneled every game should run DS, camaraderie, kindred, and open hand.
But they don't run it, why? I have no idea.
