This is just a reminder that yes, there are indeed survivors who do bones in order to try and counter NoED. These players also generally don't gen-rush.
When these players come here and say that NoED is indeed a terrible perk and needs changing, they're right. They do not need to "git gud", they do not need to hear "Just do bones." and they do NOT need to hear a garbage spiel about how easy the perk is to counter, the killer is "oNlY pLaYiNg WiTh 3 PeRkS!" or the points of DS/BT/DH/UB being perks and can be stacked.
To now make the "Do bones" argument null and void, I will now highlight every way that this argument is totally invalid:
- Survivor perks, such as Decisive Strike and Unbreakable are used with the hope that they are NEVER ACTIVATED. Well, for a lot of their users anyway. People can claim this as being perks down, much like the arguments for NoED.
- The so-called Survivor equivelant, Adrenaline, is only a small and temporary boost while NoED is permanent if activated. Yes, the health state is temporary, but there are several killers that have base-kit instant downs so this really shouldn't be THAT big of an issue.
- NoED does not discriminate between those who have done totems and those who do not. This leads to several cases like mine where I am commonly doing 3-4 dull totems MYSELF and getting killed after only one hit and hook. I am being punished for others failing, not my own failure. I know that Survivor is technically a team game, but there is a point where the individual should not be punished for the failures of the team.
- It creates bad habits. Rather than actually adapting to applying pressure through various means, or learning how to improve in chases, NoED is used as a safety net in order to get kills that one would not normally be able to achieve, making them think that they are more skilled than they actually are. Rather than getting better at their role, they are telling others to do way more work because they refuse to adapt.
- Counters to a majority of Survivor perks are merely a change in mindset or playstyle, such as trading hooks to apply pressure and avoid Decisive Strike AND Borrowed Time. NoED requires survivors to go out of their way in order to stop one of your perks.
- The "counters" are also indirect and limited, also chewing up valuable perk slots for other perks to counter some of the more unsavoury tactics that killers use and are not perk dependent.
Main point here is that yes, I do the dull totems. They are more bloodpoints and cancel the perk. I AM NORMALLY THE ONE TO GET HIT BY IT. Most of these games, it is also the first hook that I will be placed on and will also ultimately kill me.
There are also many issues that I have with NoED on a fundamental level as a perk, especially with it's activation for both general activation and notification of it's activity. Every other Hex perk requires ONE totem to be destroyed, where as NoED can have up to 5 required, before endgame.
All exposure effects outside of NoED and Devour Hope also give instant notification. Devour Hope also has a lengthy list of requirements to activate outside of "be loosing" in order to achieve the same effect. Devour Hope is also a TEACHABLE perk, one that should be more powerful than base-perks as you have to do a lot more work for them to become available.
So, fellow killers, while you lot think up of an actual excuse for NoED being the way it is, I'll be off actually doing the damn bones whenever I decide to indulge in a little bit of Survivor while I try to progress my Archives. In the meantime, whenever any of you argue about Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable just remember this advice, since it's ok for YOU to give it: Just don't tunnel, camp or slug. Never mind that the survivor ran at you or started working on that generator or unhooking that other survivor in your face. Kinda hypocritical, isn't it? That's how I feel every time I hear the phrase "just do bones".
I did them, so now what?
I like NOeD as killer in the same way that survivors love DS. The mere threat of either perk warrants a shift in play from both sides. If a killer sees no obsession, if they're smart, they will tunnel every survivor after unhook. It's the smart play.

It applies only in a chase, and has a max of 5 tokens.
I said that 5% is still way too much for a permanent buff. That's bloodlust T1. And you'll need it most in a chase so not a problem

The cooldown makes this perk useless, the same goes for Thrilling Tremors tbh
That's not true. TT is one of the perks that actually DOES need a cooldown. Its stall ability is too much as you could just keep stalling the game for about a minute with a downed player. Also, you could take the game hostage with and afk player.
-
Futile resistance is clearly and disgustinly overpowered with Nemesis. The synergy is way too strong. Is there something I'm missing here? Just getting stunned 5 times near the start of the match will basically make you unstoppable. I think PWYF is already a balanced perk which does this idea, just better.

Jesus it's just a comment. Why should racist comments be treated differently to any other hatred? If you don't have thick skin, don't play this game. Or, don't use the internet because you're bound to come into plenty of hateful people

Discordance, I sometimes forget it's a perk and not basekit for killers that's how much I use it

Yeah, I was a bit confused as he said that he will assume that wraith will have windstorm in his calculations for map pressure, which made no sense to me as he didn't include things like rat liver for demogorgon which increases his downing potential alot. His reasoning is that 'wraith is basically trash' without windstorm, but I thought the point was to include with and without add-ons. So are the numbers he gave fo downing potential and map control with or without add-ons?

I notice a lot how people say things about the devs.
"They don't listen to the community"
"They don't care about the community"
"They're afraid of the community"
I'm confused on this situation. They listened to community when they got complaints about Billy.
They heard complaints on the overheat mechanic being to strict/restrictive and they listened to the feedback and decided to tweak it.
Then the new add-ons (even though we can all agree they were pretty bad when they were first presented) had complaints which the devs listened to the community and gave them a rework.
There's instances where they do listen to the community, because they can use our criticism and suggestions to improve their game and make it better. But when they make the changes some of us get antsy or just frustrated at the changes they suggested or the feedback they said (understandable depending on the situation), most of the time I understand what the community is trying to say to the devs and such. But at the same time it's really draining to see the devs not getting a win for doing what we've been saying over and over or at least trying to use our feedback and make changes to them.
Sorry if this is a stupid thing to say or anything, but I just wanted to voice my say into this.
I never said they didn't listen to the community. I just don't know what's going on at BHVR's office that they don't bother changing perks that have been known to be absolutely awful for ages now. Perks that could be so easily changed but just aren't. Then they change billy with a new mechanic that basically does nothing and rework perks that didn't need to be reworked (aside from tinkerer)

You also can't somehow know for sure which direction will huntresss thorw fully charged hatchet or where nurse/spirit will blink/phase. If he had higher ADS time you would only know that you should attempt to dodge now, not when/where he'll shoot so then counterplay would stay the same as now, predict it slightly before it happens.
First of all, you can juke hatchets SO much better than the spear gun, even if they're fully charged. You can also juke nurse's blinks quite effectively, at least better than deathslinger. Spirit is a whole different arguement, but i'll just say that just because spirit might be also bad to play against it does not make my arguement about deathslinger invalid.. Even if all your points about all these killers were right, it does not make mine wrong.
-
@Kebek said:
This no-counterplay "argument" is getting tiresome. Predictions are counterplay, like it or not. Hard to pull off but still counterplay.
Also if we go by logic "if killer plays perfectly" then about 12 out of 20 killer in DBD don't have counterplay. As unlikely as it may seem killers are just humants and they make mistakes, more when faced with good survivors who can read them while also playing efficiently overall.
But the problem is survivors can't predict his speargun, the time it takes to shoot a survivor isn't enough for them to juke it. He can just ADS and make the survivors juke themselves and then shoot whenever he wants.

Deathslinger is by far the most fun killer I play. I can't relate. Trying to balance a PvP game around both sides having fun is an uphill battle, since usually in PvP games, one side has fun at the expense of the other side. There is plenty for survivors to do against Deathslinger. The strongest counter to deathslinger is distance. If you spread out from deathslinger and do gens apart, it's almost an instant win because the maps are god awfully designed and deathslinger's movespeed just makes it worse.
Survivors shouldn't be able to 1v1 a killer. The killer should be around 4x stronger than an individual survivor. The survivors are supposed to win by collectively being better than the killer, not by one survivor just dabbing on the killer for 5 gens, which is actually possible in this game.
Hell, I find it incredibly boring that 80% of my games at high ranks during peak times are squads of survivors with ds bt and unbreakable, but that's just the way the game is set up. Deathslinger isn't overperforming, and being boring is a matter of personal perception.
I think that killers should be 4x more powerful than the survivors in more ways than in a 1v1. I think it should extend to map pressure and gen control as well. Also, deathslinger is actually still a bad killer despite being very strong in the 1v1, which shows how unbalanced DBD is. The game is really about time management and gen control and deathslinger can't control gens well. This leads to games being boring as him, in my opinion.

Hm, clown or trapper I would say

I hate the people who respond just "no" to a thread.
But literally... No.
He has counterplay, but no 100% counterplay, as no killer should have. Hug main buildings and drop pallets early.
He's subjective for both sides, I personally love versing him and playing him.
Chasing is fun with slinger, so I have no problem downing, hooking, searching etc. It's a fun cycle.
Gen rushing isn't the only thing to do against him, do well in chases and you don't have to devote to gens.
He doesn't need pressure, at all. If he proxy camps and tunnels he can win most teams if he plays with no mistakes (which is borderline impossible).
The absolute only thing he needs right now is a reduced missed shot cooldown to promote going for more shots.
All the counters you list for him are counters for any 110% killer really. Also, you said he needs to proxy camp and tunnel to win against most teams which I think isn't healthy for the game at all.

For me it's demo because I feel so powerless, I hate his portals and never feel like I get use from them and the shred feels.. underwhelming and clunky.
-
I would disagree that DBD needs to be more like F13 in terms of power role because in F13 there are 8(?) counselors but in DBD there are onlt 4 survivors.

Haha you should have included where he says to play Civ if you get frustrated at DBD

I think Freddy can actually be quite nice because he often destroys survivors then gives hatch or goofs around at the end when he knows he's won

Well I dont know what theyre doing as it hasnt and most likely will not be revealed.
That said i really dont think its all that complicated. All they need to do is rank your skill level up or down based on whether you win or not and grant more or less ranks depending on the skill of your opponents. The better players will win more often. The more of tgese skill rankings they have the better. We know theyve already been tracking peoples skill rank for sometime now so predicting the outcome of matches based on those skill ranks should be working pretty well by now.
The real question is if thats what they did (and we'll likely never know for sure) then what do they consider a win.
For killer I agree with you, it's not that complicated. They just have to account for things like Moris and the killer you play. Survivor, on the other hand, is practically impossible to account for.
Let's say you are a trash survivor who drops 10 pallets in 2 minutes but sustain a long chase with the killer. Then a very good survivor gets downed instantly because there are no pallets left in the map. The 'algorithm' would think the bad survivor is better. There are so many things to account for in survivor skill that no algorithm BHVR could make would accurately depict skill.

So your nurse and trapper skill level is exactly the same? Please stop being rediculous.
Of course you use the example of the 1 killer that is different to the rest. And yes, my skill level as wraith/trapper/ghostface/legion/freddy is all the same. You really don't think a rank 1 legion would absolutely destroy rank 20 survivors if he played as freddy? Nurse and maybe spirit are the only 2 examples where seperate MM works.

I’ve been playing since mid 2018 and I can tell you honestly that when I play survivor there’s no difference in the amount of tunneling before and after the Ruin nerf.
If anything the problem with old Ruin was that it bought killers too much time to tunnel in some games.
If it's not tunneling then it's slugging. I've been playing since 2018 as well and I can say that slugging has gone from a bit of an obscure tactic that was seen as toxic to something that most killer players will recommend you to do if you want to win. I do agree, though, that it's more slugging than tunneling

No, not at all. The idea is to make them all stand on their own without stacking to ridiculous amounts (e.g. Ruin and PGTW are both fine choices, but don't work together very well).
Have you not thought about looking at why killers want to stack these perks and maybe seen that it's necessary to run multiple slowdown perks on most killers (with the exception of a few) if you don't want to get absolutely destroyed? I didn't like having to use old ruin but I used it because I had to if I wanted to play nice. Now I'm forced to tunnel someone out of the game, force 2nd stage or death or slug if I want to win. Old ruin made me able to play nice.
-
I'm not completely sure but I think unhooking or healing yourself gives you survival points, not benevolent

what's wrong with them being able to play like that?
I just said there is nothing wrong with them playing like this, there is something wrong with them being able to play like this is they choose to because they game is unbalanced
-
@Flyguy115 said:
I see nothing wrong with survivors splitting up , if they win that way then they earned it. just like survivors should always assume a killer has noed and cleanse totems , killers should always expect survivors to be doing seperate gens and choose their chases wisely .
@EmpireWinner said:
they're playing optimaly.
I'm not faulting survivors for splitting up on gens, in fact it's the best way for them to play. I'm blaming the devs not the survivors for playing optimally. That's why I also don't fault killers for using NOeD, Slugging and survivors for Adren, BT, DS and DH/SB. It's on the devs to change this not the players

@Artick said:
Let me tell you the truth. Killers 4ks 9 games out of 10 and it's all cool and balanced. Then they run into ONE team that's actually better than them, they lose and blame it on "op survivors", "survivor sided game", "gen rushing swf with crutch perks that in fact are just as crutch as the perks the killers was running". In order for the game not to be survivor sided in killer mains eyes they shouldn't ever lose a game or get outplayed.
Give us a break.
My whole point is that killer is fine to play now precisely because you don't see that level of co-ordination. I'm saying if/when survivors figure out to do that solo then it will be a problem
-
@SailedSavage said:
How many good SWF teams do you actually run against like that though? It's not often I find teams that have that much skill or coordination. Usually there's one maybe 2 on that kind of team who are good at chases. If I feel that chases is taking longer than 15-20 seconds I leave and head on gen patrol. I rarely struggle against SWF at red ranks but every so often I come across a really strong team.

do the devs want variety? yes but do they want killers to be good? no
This is why no one plays around with perks cause if you do you lose and also why play m1 killers there is just no point in having variety in killers or perks cause if you do you get gen rushed and have no map mobility unless the survivors are 4Heads. Plz devs use the ptb more buff the ######### out of stuff on ptb killer and survivor to change the meta cause its just so ######### boring. Up survivor had ds and you get hit with it even though you dont get tunnelled. Like whats the point of playing anyone other than oni, freddy, nurse, spirit, billy(if they revert the changes but they won cause devs are clueless)
I completely agree. They nerfed ruin because 80% of killers at red ranks used it but they never looked at why. I would love to change up my killer builds but I just can't for most killers as i'll get gen rushed to hell
