Kind of like Decisive Strike?
@Almo you've really played yourself there

The way I just learned to have fun is to stop trying to win and accept that I'm not going to win every game and just do fun builds and killers, even if I lose half of my games that way

Errr.... Alright, let's put this another way. The survivors are a team consisting of 4 players, the killer is a team consisting of one player. If two survivors escape, and the killer gets 2 kills then each team completed half of their objective. Sounds like a draw, doesn't it?
This situation is OBJECTIVELY a draw. If a survivor thinks they won because they escaped or if a killer thinks they lost because they killed only 2 survivors then that opinion is SUBJECTIVE.
If we went with your logic though, the 2 survivors who lose will view it as a lost match. If two survivors "lose" and two survivors "win", then what does that give you?
And lastly, why would you care about a singular survivor's opinion, anyways? Survivors, as a team only win if 3+ survivors escape.
I'm not saying the result of this match was unfair. I'm saying what the killer had to do to get to this makes it unfair (nurse, camping/tunneling, getting a 3gen luckily, 3 gen slowdown perks)

Then when is there a draw? Half of the survivors completed their objective and the killer completed half of his objective. Seems balanced to me.
And what you said is very subjective. The devs say otherwise.
my argument is that in order to get a 2k/2e the killer needs to play nurse/spirit/PH and play dirty (tunnel/camp) I'm not saying that these things should not be allowed, it just shows that the killer needs to meet very specific requirements in order to stand a chance
-
@nursewannabe said:
So a perfect tie means that the game is unbalanced? I don't understand, is your idea of balance a 4k? So why even play survivor?
Your argument is literally the reason why this forum and reddit are a ######### joke
No, my argument is that in order to get a 2k/2e the killer needs to play nurse/spirit/PH and play dirty (tunnel/camp) I'm not saying that these things should not be allowed, it just shows that the killer needs to meet very specific requirements in order to stand a chance

Wasn't there a bunch of restrictions on perks and add ons, items, survivors, maps and killers?
I understand no ultra rares, keys and moris since those change the game drastically but I don't think this tournament in any way could prove if the game is balanced or not since those games don't really represent actual games with those many restrictions.
The restrictions make the game more balanced, removing perks like OoO. And even so, games are unbalanced

viable killers are normally Spirit, Nurse, PH, Freddy, Doctor, Oni, Huntress and Hillbilly but yeah the current meta for killers in red ranks and top plays are gen slowdown perks even then its not enough
well, if you are talking at competitive level play, then you can knock out doctor,oni,huntress and hillbilly from that list
-
@Artick said:
So you are saying Nurse should always get a 4k? 2 kills 2 escapes IS balanced.
I am saying that the game is not balanced because the only way a killer can stand a chance at a top level is if the play nurse and camp/tunnel and get a 3 gen along with 3 gen slowdown/stall perks. I think there should be more killers viable
-

Who are you to judge they were not playing top level? Maybe the Nurse in the 2nd game played trash too? Silly argument.
Also: Maybe the killer in those games with the 4Ks were just really good and showed that it is possible to destroy even the best when playing really well?
And finally, what is your point about the 2nd game? That if a strong killer is facing a strong team, it can be a close game?
Well, I think it's quite obvious in the games otzdarva and ayrun played that the survivors were not playing optimally. When I have time, I'll go through the VOD and point out all the mistakes

This game needs an absolutely signifcant overhaul at a base level to be even remotely e-sports viable. DbD as an esport is laughable.
I completely agree. And yet there are $15.000 tournaments being played as we speak
-
@Mooks said:
The game isn’t balanced because this one match ended in 2 kills/2 escapes which is pretty much the balance the devs said they would aim for? And that is already the cherry picked game out of the tournament, other matches should be ignored because you say so?
@xEa said:
"This is top level play"
"but we ignore the games where the killer dominated, because at that case, the survivors were just bad"
Seriously?
The tournament actually showed that the game is much more ballenced then most think. I dont have a score but it is probably not far away from 50/50 KD throught the whole tournament.
Oh and your 2nd game reverence. I played against that team who drawed against the Nurse and let me tell you they are freakin insanly good. This was supposed to be a hard fight and in the end the survivors got a bit lucky and could escape with 2 people.
I ignored the other games because the survivors weren't playing at top level. My point does not include survivors who aren't playing at the top level
-
@Aven_Fallen said:

You can. But ignoring the other 99% of the game does not make sense at all.
Of course you can pick that one game that proves your point, but again - does not really make sense.
Balancing around the Top 1% would not work. Or would you also be fine to balance around the Top 1% Killers? Because balancing around Top 1% Survivors but Rank 10 Killers (yes, I have seen this on this forum) is not really a good idea.
I'm not ignoring the 99% of games, just pointing out how the 1% is unbalanced for tournament play. And yes, there is interest in this game becoming an e-sport, otherwise there wouldn't be $15.000 raised for a prize pool. I don't have a solution for the balance, I'm just pointing out how the game isn't balanced
-
@Jukenobi said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1600829#Comment_1600829
That's not the point. The game wasn't created to be an E-sport, and it is to randomly generated to be one.
I don't care what the game was created to be. If people are treating it like an e-sport, and there is sufficient funding for high level tournaments, then I'm going to pay attention to that side of the game. A lot of games weren't made to be e-sports, but than become e-sports because people enjoyed them enough.

Top Level play is 1% of all games played on DBD. Around something like that.
If you are talking about tournaments - tournaments can be a fun thing, but should not be taken seriously since DBD is a party game.
Well, unfortuantely they are taken seriously and it's not my choice to make that decison as a $15.000 prize pool tourney exists. And your point about it being 1% is irrelavant. Am I not allowed to talk about the 1%?
-
@Jukenobi said:
Dead By Daylight is not a competitive E-Sport. Stop treating it like one.
Well if there are tournaments with a $15.000 prize pool being made then I am going to treat it like one

@gibblywibblywoo said:
The truth of the matter is that no matter how good a killer is, if the survivors spread out properly and focus gens there isn't much the killer can do. '''THAT SAID''' very few people outside of tourneys play this way as its incredibly dull for both sides. You do get SWF sweat squads that play this way on occasion but they make up maybe 2% of actual survivors. And I mean proper sweat squads. Let teammates die to focus gens sweat squads. No game should ever balance around the top 5% of players.
It says 'AT TOP LEVEL PLAY' in the title
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Are we now seriously applying a Tournament game to the standard DBD game?
Did you read the title? It says 'AT TOP LEVEL PLAY'

I'm sorry but you clearly seem like a new player if you think the killers would even stand a tiny chance winning any games whatsoever if camping and tunneling were banned. And then you say nurses calling and BBQ 😂

tomorrow i will make a post with the results, this is your last chance to contribute to the tier list

-
Yep, wraith main here although I now play him less as I feel like I've discovered everything there is to discover. The key is to hit and run, and rely on survivors healing out in the open. You basically have to run the bone clapper/silent bell addon otherwise you will never get a hit. I think bone clapper can be just as good as silent bell most of the time. And you have to use windstorm. Try not to loop pallets unless its right after an uncloak or it's very unsafe.
-
Cows, Fungoose, Dowsey
-
Tierlist for comp play. Nurse, spirit and PH can all counter looping effectively. Nurse and Spirit generate map pressure and PH can tunnel players out of the game. Freddy is good but can be countered by survivors staying awake and predropping pallets. Billy has good map pressure but not great downing potential. Oni has a great power but can't access it against a comp team, at least not early enough. Hag is ok is she gets a hook due to camping/tunneling potential but struggles with her traps. Huntress has good downing potential but not good map pressure and won't get cross maps. Doc can down but can't do it nearly as fast as PH. I'm not too sure about LF as he's quite new, but I think he's ok. GF can generate map pressure by 99ing but good teams will take protection hits etc. Rest of killers just get looped for 5 gens and won't even get a hook probably

You don't like slugging? I can see that you must be new to DBD. Always remember: the killer's job is to kill, not to be nice and let you escape
-
@InnCognito said:
I agree that there is an issue with this game where the majority of perks for rank 1-8 gameplay contribute NOTHING to the match for the killer. once a person plays against coordinated SWF teams. They can play through about ANYTHING and abuse the killer. Here is what my list looks like, for perks I have crossed out. and even then, good teams still counter them EASILY.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FOHI2UKUBYEH/august-2020-dead-by-daylight-viable-perks.jpg
I don't understand, why are perks like IF and STBFL crossed out but Iron Maiden and Mad Grit aren't?
-
@Jukenobi said:
So if most survivors are bad, what's the problem? Why should we balance the game in your favor due to a small minority of players who are better than you? I don't see your logic. This is not an e sport game, I don't understand why people get so butt hurt over it.
They need to just remove the ranking system all together so this nonsense whining stops and we can just enjoy the game for what it is.
Because it's unfair to balance around casual players when there will always be a competitive side of DBD where survivors will destroy almost all killers. It doesn't matter that it's not a high proportion, because typically these veteran players will spend the most money on the game and play the most, meaning they should be high priority to balance around.

@xenotimebong said:
Killer is the more difficult role because it’s the 1 in 1v4. If you make killer easy and stress free, and survivor the role that requires more time and constant attention, everyone will play killer and the game will die.
OK, this is actually a good perspective that I hadn't thought of

Sorry no.
If you have NO fun doing any other part of the game as survivor, and that is your sole argument for why you should have a fairer chance during a chase, then you’re playing the wrong game.
That killer your up against is a player too. If no matter which killer is chosen the game were designed around survivors having it too easy during a chase, killers will just give up in droves, and you will have NO game to play at all.
I say in my post I want DS to get a buff. He's not a good killer in terms of strength or design. I just want him to be more balanced instead of having all his strength in the 1v1 and none in the 1v4
-
@VicThor said:
This game is not a 1 vs 1 game, it’s 4 vs 1. If you can easily counter a killer, then the killer won’t have a chance to win. Deathslinger creates pressure by quickdowns. Even tho that’s usually not enough.
My point is that it's not healthy for his only source of pressure to be quick downs. He should have more counterplay and also get a secondary pressure ability
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
Predrop the pallet and he is forced to break in most circumstances. And you need to be ready to call any bluffs.
A lot of deathslingers will either always shoot or always bluff. If you notice he raises his gun to just get you to dodge and lose distance you call the bluff and keep going.
On a lot of loops the time you can shoot a survivor is like a split second. Knowing that split second as a survivor let's you dodge preemtivaly
I likefacing deathslingers cause how different you need to play against them. If you play against Deathslinger like you play against other killers then the problem lies with you
Your counters require the DS player to make a mistake. If a DS always shoots or always fakes, then he's not playing well

Well, I barely play survivor that much but I assumed holding m1 on gens and then escaping isn't the fun part of the game for the vast majority of people. I've never heard anyone say that they enjoy that more than the chase

The 1v1 is the ONLY part of the game for the survivor where they interact with the killer. You have to make it fun for them and the killer

I completely agree. People say 'killers should have the power in the 1v1.' That's really a bad argurment as it makes much more sense for deathsligner to have a more balanced chase (able to be countered better), but then have a secondary movement ability. You have to look at the fun on the survivor side as well as the killer side. The 1v1 is the only fun part for the survivor so we have to make it fair

You sound so dumb right now. Like seriously. Everyone should be having fun, they are entitled to it, hence why they're playing a game. Genius 🙄
And no, killers will face camp for no reason. It happens all the time. I played around 7 games a couple days ago and 5 out of those 7 the killer face camped with 4 gens or more left. Killer mains will never understand uncalled for camping and tunneling. Its far too often.
HAHAH. I love that. 5 out of 7 games are facecampers. That's really not a convincing lie.

@Almo said:

It takes more than 30 seconds. The change has to be approved, it has to be tested for release, etc. I can't just jump in to tweak things, no matter how small. I'd like to, but that's just not how modern game development with large teams works.
-

Low-priority concern. :) It's not the only issue with Rituals. When we get to updating that system, we'll go over the whole thing.
Are you serious?! You do realise that buffing the amount of BPs would take literally 10 seconds. What even happens at BHVR studios? This isn't an indie game anymore, you have millions of dollars..

The guys oni build is really odd. Looks more like a Ghostface build to me
-
I think that there are more perks that need a rework more desperately than boil over
-
You either AFKd, bought the shards, or used some unknown exploit. I'm going for AFK because there's no reason you'd lie about buying shards and I don't think there is an exploit
-
I don't think they DCd because of you. If they had DS+UB they would be good if you pick them up, or if you leave them slugged. That's the point of their build.
-
It means where you hit someone on the hook. Like slicing kebab meat for a doner kebab
-
Well it depends on what your goal is. If you're playing solo and you just want to escape try:
Adren/DS/Deliverance/DH
-
I camp for a few reasons
- The most obvious. When the gates are open/99d and I want to secure a kill/possible snowball
- When I want to secure second stage hook/death. I do this only when survivors just all try and push gens so I go back to the hook near 2nd stage/death to punish them
- This one is very rare. When a survivor does something to really annoy me I will facecamp them to death. This normally happens when a SWF bullies me playing wraith/clown/legion and is toxic in endgame chat. If I see them in lobby again I go spirit/freddy with best add-ons and green mori to scare them and then just troll them. This can include face camping or kebabing.
