good players don't need information like that from each other and bad players don't do anything good with it. i would say the only time using voice chat is ever cheesy is if someone's using object
-
SWF really doesn't matter at all, if you get 4 good survivors you're likely to lose and if you get 4 bad survivors you're likely to win. these groups being swf doesn't really impact anything
-
most games have some form of swf (2 people) in them, so it's virtually impossible to avoid
on top of that i face 4-man groups pretty consistently throughout the season. most of them are boosted and most good 4-mans screw around and play overly altruistic

I use similar strategies with Freddy, relentlessly patrolling the last gens and biding my time for when the remaining survivors get desperate and much more reckless in their attempts, and profit accordingly.
you literally cannot do what the OP is describing with freddy. it can only be done with doctor, with the specified perks. it's called hostage doc for a reason
-
the people in this thread saying this isn't a hostage situation don't understand how hostage doc works
he picks the game map so 3 gens are within his treatment mode terror radius
he guards them all game
he stays in treatment mode and kicks them with overcharge
you cannot progress the game and you cannot prevent it
is this a design flaw? perhaps, but this doesn't happen unintentionally. the killer went into the game with this outcome in mind, so yes, i think action should be taken
-
also keep in mind that "toxic" is a widely used and hugely subjective term
some people considering simply playing the game well toxic, and others don't consider any in-game behaviour that isn't overt exploiting toxic
-
yes, they are
numerically you'll find more toxic survivors because there are more of them in a game
but i've had members of both sides do equally toxic things
this community is pretty tame compared to a lot of other online gaming communities though

What I thought was weird was when I got accused of tunnelling when Survivor A rescued Survivor B very close to me, and then promptly disappeared leaving me only one target, Survivor A. But then they did it again.
I mean, what am I supposed to do? Let the injured person go so I can hunt for someone who just vanished?
I know strictly speaking this is the definition of tunnelling, but Survivor A's behavior didn't leave me a lot of strategically intelligent options. :)
to me, tunneling is more of a behaviour pattern than an incident or two and it requires intent, specifically to chase someone off hook
in the scenario you're describing the person at fault is the rescuer ghosting after they unhook and i say this when i'm the person getting unhooked. part of altruism is taking the aggro for an injured person who has just been unhooked, not just yoinking someone off the hook to get your points. teammates are vital
when i'm on killer i usually just slug the person who's just been unhooked so that i'm not giving up pressure but am not punishing the unhooked person for their teammate's bad play. i certainly don't expect other killers to play like this though. running past a healthy person specifically to go for the injured person is another story
-
hex perks are weak due to how hex totems spawning locations, survivors spawning in close proximity to hex totems, etc.
otherwise they're fine, aside perhaps from noed
DS is in a good place, it could be tweaked a little but i'm happy with it
-
fix object hitboxes so you stop bumping on objects that you are not touching (the fence openings on preschool come to mind)

I am fine being injured but I sure as hell am not going to be going for saves once the last gen is done when injured. The situation mentioned was getting a heal "before the last gen was completed" the truth of the matter is it is a lot harder to loop injured, harder to hide injured, harder to open an exit gate injured, finally harder to save injured. You committing to the last gen to let the killer know where you are when they are injured it purely selfish. You 99 the gen if you have to then heal then pop it. Is someone has adrenaline they will commit with you but chances are that person won't do the gen with you if they are injured because they want a heal. You waste time them not being on the gen healing you and make a survivor play a lot more stealth. I don't have problems doing things injured and I quite often will and won't cleanse against the plague because it gives her benefits however you not healing me makes you selfish so I will play selfish.
i'm sorry but this playstyle is game losing
there are times when healing is smart, but healing instead of doing the last gen, especially in a close game, is extremely stupid. healing instead of opening a gate is also stupid
there is a reason why good survivor players don't mind going most of the game injured
-
object of obsession + bond + 2 other perks that don't matter
run to a nearby teammate and teabag the killer with object while next to them
run away when the killer approaches
find hatch
-
where did i say you did that? i was giving you advice not to in case you do run bamboozle since a lot of bamboozle users do it
what a weirdly defensive reply

it's not lack of confidence it's just an understanding of game mechanics. without ruin gens get done in 88 seconds (not counting toolboxes or multiple people on gens) considering most chases last say a minute by the time you hook your first survivor 3 gens could be near completion thus requiring ruin to prevent such things.
it's lack of confidence
billy easily puts out enough pressure to not need ruin
if you aren't, then you aren't a good billy player, full stop
look up how good billy players play without ruin at high ranks instead of touting ruin's necessity on such a strong killer like it's some sort of truism

try not to sound so condescending, gonna be difficult to get people to agree with you that way
i mean they're right, regardless of tone
that being said there's a totem spot on disturbed ward that is literally completely out in the open with zero cover, so totem spawn locations (as well as survivors still spawning in very close proximity to hex totems) need work
-
it was figuratively useless before
it quite literally does nothing now
-
lauries, quentins and tapps
i wish i played against more quentins, he sounds so funny
-
my favourite survivor map is thompson house
my least favourite is shelter woods, the middle of the map is an enormous dead zone with a huge tree in the middle that serves no purpose gameplay-wise, and it has large dead zones elsewhere around the map
-
iirc they're changing her addons
if you're familiar with how they work you understand it's kind of a must
-
bamboozle isn't necessary if you run tiles properly and avoid god windows like the one on ironworks
spirit fury + enduring is useful on every map at virtually every loop (aside from aforementioned broken windows)
if you're going to run bamboozle though, don't just vault every window. strategically block a window off and then play around it
-
billy is not op at all
he does not need ruin though, and seeing people run it on him (and nurse) communicates to me that they are unconfident players
-

@Miasma So you are suggesting that you remain in the same exact spot, only to get hit one more time in the same spot. Yikes.
the exact same spot? so when a killer hits you, you just stand there while they go through their blade wipe animation? you don't run or anything?
i guess i can see why you run this perk now
-
i never called myself a killer main, but i do play a lot of killer. does a person have to complain about genrush to sound like a killer main to you?
i didn't come here to say "git gud", i came here because you seemed heated about the game and maybe needed some perspective to better enjoy it
i've certainly had my moments of frustration where games seemed impossible and survivors seemed unbeatable (for the record, due to shoddy map design some games actually will be impossible on weaker killers). but on reflection i could point out mistakes i made and things i could have done better
it's helpful in not thinking that playing killers that aren't nurse, billy or spirit is a fool's errand
either way i hope you discover a new way to enjoy the game if this doesn't help
-
you can assume that if it helps you sleep (or play nurse) at night
-
i play equal parts killer and survivor, with maybe more emphasis on survivor
it's very telling that you presume how much killer i play (or whether i play it at all) based on me coming down on this issue differently than you
if you decide to use this approach rather than even considering how you can better play killer then this discussion is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a waste of both of our time
can't say i didn't try

@Judith said:
Whenever someone says "apply pressure" in almost every post I bet they hardly play killer. I could be wrong but you people make it sound so easy. You can't apply pressure with every killer well. If you do please show me consistent proof of how you do it yourself in red ranks.
absolutely no one has said that applying pressure is easy, but it can be done; it is done all the time
i'll give you an example: you're playing wraith on disturbed ward. you're chasing someone who runs to the (totally busted) asylum building. chasing this person at this point does nothing because a toddler can run that building effectively and waste a ton of your time. instead, cloak, drop chase, and patrol some of the more exposed generators. find someone else in a more compromising position and down them. at this point you may lose two gens, which is fine, because now you have someone on a hook and a vague idea of where their team is (much less vague if you run BBQ, which you should). intercepting someone going for the save means that now half the team is off gens with a third having to get off gens to get the save
this is called applying pressure and it can be done with any killer. sure, it sounds simple, but dbd is dynamic and plenty of factors - map rng, perks, survivor skill, your own skill - come into play
-
you have every right to vent your frustrations here but this is an online forum, not a personal diary, and people can and will respond
my intention in coming here was not to antagonize you and certainly not to dissuade you from expressing yourself but rather to point out that perhaps you could be performing better with these mid tier killers
for the record, i know plenty of killer mains who play mid tier killers regularly and consistently do fine. do they 4k every game? of course not, but they spread pressure well and end chases quickly. they also make mistakes like everyone else and get punished for it. sometimes they kill everyone, other times they kill no one. tons of factors go into deciding these things
your points about "getting around" ruin and killers' powers is also weird. when haven't people gotten through ruin?

Oh yes let's not heal the survivor that is probably on death hook so you can get your gen and escape. Some of us don't run adrenaline if someone is asking for a heal and it is safe to do so freaking do it. Or you end up going to unlock the exit gate and the survivor still injured hides. While you are on the hook having got downed for trying to unlock the exit gates I will make my way out the exit gate not coming to save you because you decided it was better for you to try and do ######### on your own then heal someone that needed help.
person who cannot function while injured spotted
you must have a great time vs plague
that is if you're not killing your team by cleansing as soon as you get sick because being injured is scary and teammates who want to do objectives are selfish and deserve to die
-
they reverted that change
-
of course i play killer, i main wraith but play a lot of billy, huntress, pig and leatherface
even if this wasn't the case i can certainly judge his skills having personally played against him. i could be a rank 20 killer and it wouldn't invalidate anything i've said
-
what if pallets got removed and survivors spawned in the dying state
-
i solo queue far more than i swf but i play both
how good or bad i am is irrelevant since i am not taking to the forums and blaming the game for my problems
plenty of killer players regularly run mid tier killers at high ranks and do fine. have you thought about why you don't?
-
nurse is nonsense but anyone complaining about the changes to legion has a banana boat understanding of this game so i guess that contextualizes the rest of the thread
-
the perk was dumb to begin with
honestly if they removed the speed boost the survivor gets when mettle triggers it'd be much less stupid
-
no, the OP
that statement certainly applies to most vocal killer and survivor players though
-
self care gives a huge advantage
to the killer
survivors waste a colossal amount of time healing themselves (even more against the commonly run sloppy butcher) instead of doing gens or going for saves or doing literally anything useful and it's borderline throwing behaviour
a lot of survivor players simply stop functioning when they're injured and won't do anything useful until they are healed. i've actually had people aggressively teabag next to me for heals instead of joining me on the final gen. stop being so scared of being injured
-
no offense but i've played against you and you just aren't as good as you think you are
i would recommend figuring out how to best apply map pressure (something that is possible with any killer but much easier for some than others) and you'll find "gen rushing" isn't a real issue
don't get me wrong sometimes you get a stacked coldwind map or you get put on haddonfield against 4 clowns running BL but for the most part the game is manageable if you don't mess up too badly
-
seriously, stop with the visual effects
they're unpleasant, they aren't immersive, and they add nothing to gameplay
clown's was poorly received, legion's was poorly received, plague's was poorly received, and now this is being poorly received
it's enough

You see all these people saying they don't want them to be 115% speed killers? Because they don't want to face any more high tier killers because they don't want to have to work on their skills to face them
as if huntress, spirit and hag aren't prevalent at high ranks? what does this even mean honestly
if by "adding variety" you mean making already strong killers completely busted, then yes, making these killers 115 would add variety. as it currently stands spirit, huntress, and to a lesser extent hag already populate high rank games
-
haddonfield is the absolute worst map based solely on design. even without balanced landing, a lot of houses are very hard to chase, and with balanced landing every house is an infinite
most of the recent maps are pretty horrible to play on: mt ormond, temple and the yamaoka estate are all huge and either full of tiles or rocks/debris, making tracking and chasing difficult on top of spreading gen pressure
as for the original maps, wretched shop's windows are awful to deal with, the ironworks window is disgusting, and the middle of suffocation pit can be abused for a long time without even using the pallets due to connected jungle gym windows and L wall T walls

I'd understand the opinion of Spirit being #2, but really? Not hard to play? There's so much more to both killers than just mechanical skill. You have to learn map pressure, mind games, how to be effective at loops, countering counterplay, etc.
you don't have to learn mindgames. mindgaming involves predicting a survivor's decision making based on what you think they will do. spirit doesn't need to predict anything; she can see scratch marks, she can hear survivors without iron will, she can see grass moving, and she can even bump into a survivor by accident. spirit gets so many tells while using her power, and on top of this, standing still and simply watching the survivor while pretending to use your power makes playing loops very easy
if anyone is doing any mindgaming during an interaction with a spirit it's the survivor, since they get no tells for where you're going while phasing or even whether you're phasing at all, and have to predict what you're doing and where you're going based on how you play. they get no mid-chase cues aside from listening for your footsteps, which is only really possible on certain maps and can only be heard when she's right next to you. spirit is only as difficult as the quality of your headphones

there are obviously maps that are survivor sided and there are maps that are killer sided so what’s the problem?
there are far more survivor sided maps, some of them egregiously so (haddonfield, mt ormond). a map being "killer sided" is more complicated since different killers play differently. rotten fields is a great map for hillbilly but awful for most killers, for example

This scenario can't happen. You can't be downed and received for that long as each down shaves off a chunk of bleedout time. After about 5 downs they just die anyway.
this is wrong; the situation being described means you down the survivor, then immediately pick them up and drop them until they wiggle out automatically. they're on the ground for very little time and therefore bleed out very slowly
this may not constitute a permanent hostage situation like bodyblocking the basement in previous patches was, but it's still taking the game hostage as it prevents the survivor from exiting the game legitimately for a long time, and indicates the killer is intentionally keeping the survivor in the game for as long as possible. i don't know whether BHVR has ever commented on what would happen to people who do this, but it should have some consequence
-
no, the killers who are currently 110% movement speed are perfectly strong where they are
the only killer i'd argue would be okay with this change is huntress, and that's more because the devs seem to love releasing enormous maps that are terrible for her
hag and spirit do not need movement speed buffs
-
i don't think plague has a strength issue, i just think she's not terribly fun to play for most people because corrupt purge's use is entirely based on survivors' decision making and not your own. this means that playing against 4 competent players will prevent you from using it until the end of the game
the obvious answer is to give survivors more incentive to cleanse; make being sick more of an issue than just applying the broken status and some (incredibly annoying, by the way) visual effects. the flip side of this is that corrupt purge is far too strong for you to just be getting it all the time. a buff to vile purge and a nerf to corrupt purge might help in balancing out how she's played, but i haven't put much thought into what this would consist of so they're just loose ideas
-
unhooker/hooked survivor hitboxes are incredibly wonky. i can intentionally hit around the person being unhooked to go for the rescuer and it'll still somehow lock onto the person being unhooked. i think autoaim has a lot to do with it
-
a gen limit already exists for a key unless you're the last one left in the game, since a gen limit already applies to the hatch

Was this change to prevent Survivor from losing rank when the Killer pulls the plug? Rank really just means how much time you spend on the game more than anything. Silly to think anyone really cares about Ranks.
you should rephrase this to "it's silly to care about rank", because i promise you that a lot of people do care. in any game with a ranking system you'll get people who care about it, no matter how little it actually indicates about individual skill. the significant increase in DCs since this change occurred is more than evident of that
to answer your question, if i'm right and this was done to prevent deranking, it was likely to prevent survivors from DCing to lower their rank (perhaps after all the debating surrounding deranking that occurred recently), which was a common practice that is now no longer possible. however, if you care about deranking and think it's an issue then this change still did nothing, since people can still just kill themselves on their first hook or otherwise throw the game, so all this did was cause even more people to DC given the lack of any real consequence beyond a soft ban once you hit a certain threshold
-
keys and moris cannot really be compared; keys only become useful when the hatch spawns, which is either at the end of the game (if everyone is alive) or earlier after people have died. a mori is in play after one person has been hooked one time
my suggestion for a mori has always been to reduce their impact on the game while rewarding the player - maybe give more BP for a mori kill instead of a sacrifice, but make them only usable on death hook, or after a certain number of generators are done, or something. as of right now if a killer wants to come back to your hook, hit you off hook and then remove you from the game they're allowed to, and to be able to do that to everyone in a game is honestly beyond absurd
i don't want moris removed but i want their use to be catered towards seeing a cool death animation or a personal reward rather than gaining an enormous advantage in a game just by playing an offering
-
DCing has always been something of an issue but it became much worse after people stopped losing pips for DCing. as of right now, if you actually care about your rank (which many seem to) and you feel the game isn't going well you can just DC and retain your rank. i have no idea whether or not this was an intentional change (perhaps to discourage deranking, which it hasn't, since people just suicide on hook now), but it needs to be reverted as soon as possible. ever since this change was implemented i have seen far more DCing. i've hit people once at the start of the game as a yellow addon wraith and had them DC
