I think the biggest problem with camping is that most survivors are just as unskilled at the killer who chooses to camp. I was getting camped by a Trickster the other day for some reason. He didn't face camp the first two people, but he decided to facecamp me hard with three gens to go. One person was crouched nearby, too petrified to even move, and the other just stood about 10 meters away and stared at the Trickster. My third teammate never even moved to help me, but at least he worked on a gen. There is no reason why I should have died on my first hook with three fully healed teammates against an incredibly weak killer.
It is what it is. Most killers are bad and wouldn't get a single kill if they didn't camp ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
That's not bad match making at all. Welcome to DBD! When I play killer, I'm level 18-20 going against red and purple rank swfs. And I've had six friends who all quit this game because match making so heavily favors killers, we couldn't even get a single gen done in most games.

It goes without saying that old DS was simply unhealthy for the game. It was a pure minute of invincibility from being hooked no matter what you did. There is not a doubt in my mind or anybody else's (hopefully) that old DS was the most meta perk in the game.
Earlier today I got called a meta survivor for using DS and I was running it with WGLF, we'll make it, and lithe. I could see being called a meta survivor if I had dead hard, iron will, DS, and unbreakable but that's just not the case. Even in solo queue I don't run builds like that.
At the end of the day can DS even be considered meta anymore? In my eyes it is 60 seconds of stun protection granted that you're legitimately being tunneled by the killer. If not wanting to have a match where you get insta tunneled out and have no fun is meta, than I take no shame in being a meta survivor while running we'll make it and lithe.
DS was not completely unhealthy for the game. How many times did you spent 10-15 minutes waiting for a game as a solo survivor, only to have the killer camp and tunnel you out of the game without any way to stop it from happening? The change that should have been made was that if the killer hooked someone else, it deactivated. It's literally the opposite of tunneling. I played eight games the other day, and the killer camped and tunneled every single person on seven of those games. So sure. DS is the problem, not killers that have no skill and make the game unplayable for most people.

It's probably just a bug. I had a friend who used to get credit for doing killer challenges while playing survivor (before he quit this game, that is).
-
Honestly, I die so often on my first hook without a single teammate even trying to save me, it wouldn't make a difference to me.
-
And Ima wink right back. Hey, girl.
-
Because she's hot. It's not complicated.
-
Yeah if a killer is bad, they usually have NOED. Since most people who play this game on both sides are not actually skilled, I assume every killer has NOED. Not sure why the devs needed to nerf Small Game. It was incredibly rare for me to see anyone else running it, but it is what it is.

But SWF and Keys are? Things that horribly imbalance the game and unfun for killers to play against? Sure thing BHVR, Fair and Balanced. Can we at least get a ranked mode where only Solos can play and a casual mode for SWF? League does it, every competitive online multiplayer game does it. But not this one? Why?
Moris were game breaking, period, and the what aboutisms on this forum are pointless and boring. And as a solo survivor, I can promise you that you get a lot of kills because of people bringing in keys and letting their teammates die so they can get hatch. I can't tell you how many games I've had where everyone would have been out if people hadn't decided to settle for hatch and screw over their teammates. They've done far more harm than good.
-
I used to always run Small Game but I took a long break form the game. I was surprised to see the devs decided to gut this perk for no particular reason. It's extremely rare that I saw anyone else run that perk, and they really didn't need to remove its ability to detect traps from Hag, Trapper, and Fredward. It was nice to have against them, but it by no means broke those killers, especially Fredward. With Hag and Trapper, you didn't even know if what was going off was a totem or a trap, so you might be avoiding a safe loop entirely for no reason, playing is safe and assuming it's a trap. But as always, they keep making the game worse for solo survivors.
-
Nah, they'd rather destroy the game entirely for us solo survivors so the only thing left really is the sweaty SWFs that make things difficult for killers.

It's almost like the game started off incredibly Survivor-sided and needed to nerf them.
It's kinda like killers have it extremely easy when they start playing the game and then have an absolute meltdown when it takes actual skill to get a 4k.
-
I'm not new to DBD and indoor maps are still difficult. I absolutely despise Midwich. Killers have a huge advantage on indoor maps because survivors can't even find gens and totems are nearly impossible to come across, even with (the nerfed) Small Game. Unfortunately the devs seem to be hell bent on making things worse for survivors, especially solo survivors. So if you're going to stick with DBD, be prepared to be constantly screwed over for no reason as a survivor. And once you learn a map? They'll rework it, don't worry.
-
It sounds like you have bad teammates and the problem isn't really 99ing the gates. Welcome to DBD, where your fellow survivors do more harm than the killer. I'd rather have teammates who at least know what 99ing is instead of the three fully healed teammates who leave me to die on the first hook when I had literally unhooked all of them at least once throughout the trial.
-
Damn near every change they make to this game makes it worse for survivors, especially solo survivors. It's kinda shocking. Hats off to the devs.

Seriously what is with every game someone giving up... I'd actually like to play a match without someone quitting or full on giving up. it's bad enough you get players that wont touch gens, able to lead on a chase, hook farming and just lack of knowledge all round but even putting those issues aside I have players not even attempting to play. I fully get not everyone is going to be amazing but it's meant to be red rank and players are actually meant to play the game... its ruining any kinda of fun having multiple people give up because it's a certain killer or they get out played... seriously you balance for these players??? No wonder I dont see half the killers and the games such a mess starting to think normal/average games dont exist anymore
You can blame the devs for some of this with the challenges that are in the tome. I'm not sure what all the challenges are right now, but I know in the past, I have loaded into many games where all three of my teammates never even start to play because they're trying to do a challenge. It's actually why I quit playing the game. I just came back two days ago after about nine months away to see if the game was any better. Spoiler alert, it's not. Oh and rank doesn't mean anything. Usually the worst teammates I have are in red and purple ranks. People think getting an escape is a win, even when they have 10k bp total and I die on my first hook with more than twice that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was in a lengthy discussion in the chat with a bunch of survivors who kept telling me that tunneling is not part of the game and that I shouldn't do it. I heard a lot in my time playing DbD about tunneling, but never that it outright isn't part of the game.
I got disconnected from the server before I got a conclusive answer, so my curiosity remains piqued: is there a convincing argument of why tunneling is not part of the game, when it, as far as I'm concerned, clearly is.
Keep in mind that the question is "is not part, because...", not "shouldn't be part, because..."
Most bad killers don't do anything BUT tunnel, so it's definitely part of the game but it's a crappy way to play and you'll never convince me it's not. I played eight games yesterday and no joke, seven killers camped and tunneled and wouldn't do anything else. I play entirely as a solo survivor and after waiting AT BEST at least five minutes to get a game, I could be done playing entirely depending on what other people choose to do. I can't dc, and killing myself on hook takes even longer now. You can play how you want but you can't exactly be surprised people aren't happy about you doing it.
-
I see it all the time in red ranks. When I run Empathy, I do indeed find that most people are unwilling to play injured. They also don't bring a medkit, self care, or any perk that would help them find a teammate to heal. It's absolutely maddening to see how often people get injured and just flat out refuse to play the game anymore.
-
PC master race, yo
-
Looks like a lot of the male characters with fewer cosmetics are licensed characters so that's probably part of it. Steve, Ash, Bill, Tapp, and Quentin are all licensed, right?
-
I haven't had it happen yet but I have had a few teammates dc at the start after loading in.
-
Yeah it's not new that survivors do more harm than the killer. I play entirely as a solo survivor and it's painful. A lot of survivors quit playing and just TRY to settle for the hatch, which ensures everyone dies. Most people, killer and survivor, are not actually good at the game. There are just a more survivors in a game than there are killers, so it's more obvious.
-
Not salty, but don't play her then? If she's not fun for you, there's nothing wrong with that. Play someone you do like. Or work on getting better with Hag and don't worry about getting a 4k. When I play killer I almost always get red rank swfs against my level 18-20 killer. I have no chance, but I'm not going to get upset about it. I still have fun and work on learning the killer and making smart plays when I can, even if I get no kills.
-

I just think "Well, They're going to get tunneled out of the game".
Same, and it's almost always the case.

Solo survivor is miserable. I expect to be the best player on the team and to die on my first hook. It happens at least a few times every time I play. I just accept it for what it is and have fun anyway. I laugh at easily baited killers and teammates who genuinely don't even know how bad they are and think they're gods.

@Opex said:
It's impossible to have fun while playing Killer. Because of the busted gen speeds you cant really do much as long as you play against half decent survivors that do gens with an unreliable killer. Simple solution would be playing a strong killer right? No! The game is just spamming bugs at you every single game. Btw autoaim takes away hits from you quite often, this has been a problem since the game released and it's still not fixed. Autoaim will make you hit the corner instead of the survivor, so much fun. If you play strong killers you will still win, but it is just not fun and I just have a reason to complain about the game like every few seconds a game.
Nurse? No ######### you! Take this Blink Bug, and don't forget this M1 bug.
Blight? Are you kidding?????
Survivor isn't much better, survivor isn't as bad as killer but still unfun. Since the DS nerf killers just play extremely annoying almost every game. I haven't had a single killer that doesn't camp / tunnel and ruins everyone else's experience within the past few days. BT and DS will punish the killer for it and make them lose, but your own game experience is still ruined. Maybe it's just me being extremely unlucky with the killers too, sometimes it's okay to play like that. But a Stridor Spirit that completely ignores everyone she see's and just tunnels me the entire game from the beginning when she saw me at 5 gens is literally just annoying.
I remember having fun in DBD a few years ago, and seeing a game get worse over time is just sad. :/
I was thinking about how much killers moan and cry about how stressful the game is for them. I think it's because when you start playing DBD, killer is incredibly easy compared to survivor. Killer mains expect to continue to get easy 4Ks every game, and anything less is a loss that makes them have an absolute meltdown. If it's not fun for you, stop playing. Plain and simple. I've quit many games that changed in ways I didn't like. Stop investing time in something you don't enjoy just because you used to.
-
I'd remove the tome. As a solo survivor, it completely destroyed the game for me. It's hard enough to get teammates willing to play and not just hide the entire time, but going into the game now where literally all three teammates have NO intention of doing anything but throwing so they can get a challenge done is what made me quit. I came back a few days ago to see how bad the game was these days. I quit sometime before Blight came out, I believe it was. If I couldn't remove the tome, the unnecessary map changes. Old Autohaven. Yamaoka Estate. Coldwin. Crotus Prenn. Why fix what's actually broken in the game when you can destroy things that are perfectly fine?
-
New Autohaven is so dark you can't see from one end of a truck to the other, and the corn maps are blinding us at high noon. It's absurd. Leave it to the devs to keep breaking things for no reason.
-
I wouldn't want to see any rift outfits in the store. If we had to suffer though the rift to get them, they should stay exclusive.
-
I'd say the three I see least are Ace, Quentin, and Jeff, in that order.
-
I am a solo survivor and never run it. I'm almost always found first. I'd have to completely change the way I play to get any use out of it.
-
EGC was a huge change that ONLY helps killers. You can open the gates instantly if you choose. You don't need any more help.
-
I feel bad killing the survivors who actually play and don't hide the entire game. So anyone but Claudettes, really. I want to give that person hatch, whoever it is, but I know I won't be able to find the Claudette and I'm not spending half an hour trying.
-
There's already a DC penalty which is so stupid I still cannot believe it. All it does is give killers a few more BBQ stacks since you can indeed (and many people do) ######### on first hook. If I run a killer for LITERALLY two and a half minutes and not a single gen pops, and then when I'm finally downed I see only one person is even working on one? I'm out. I'm not wasting my time in a game like that. If I have to stay in that game, I'm done playing DBD. Great for queue times, having less people play a game.
You can't force people to play the game the way you want them to play it.
-
Same thing happens with me when I try to play killer, but I know I'm a garbage killer and only play for challenges so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't camp pallets as a survivor though.
-
Most people are garbage at DBD, period. It's not specific to certain killers.
-
It's pretty frustrating to die because you've been touched once the entire game. Happens a lot. At least there's a chance, as slim as it is.

I played a game the other day against a survivor that refused to do any of their objectives.
They just stood a safe distance from me t-bagging constantly. I couldn’t catch them because if I moved towards them they sprinted straight to the strong loops, which they knew how to loop.
This is all they did all game, starting from the first minute. The game got pretty frustrating, does anyone have any counters for this?
Imagine complaining that your opponent isn't doing anything to win the game.
As long as killers keep being tilted by teabagging and making posts like this, survivors are going to keep doing it.
-
I'm a solo survivor main and I think the DC penalty is absolute garbage and always have. People still DC. I had two games in a row the other night where the killer DC'ed. I had a game recently where two friends DC'ed when the first went down. I just had a game where my first teammate downed DC'ed. I wanted out so I just stood by my gen and let the killer get an easy down on me. He didn't, of course. He stood over me for about a minute, shaking his head at me and swinging his knife and me over and over and over. I was fully recovered, and my two teammates healed each other and then one went into the basement to loot, leaving my slugged, while the other got back on his gen. Wow, what a great gaming experience after waiting 10 minutes to get a survivor game.
I mean, thank god this game bans people from playing it. Survivor lobbies are lightning fast, as we all know.

I would arguably say that I've yet to meet a console player with more than 90 IQ
I'm not trying to insult everyone, but for the love of god i can't understand how they reach red ranks, couple of days ago i remember a RANK 2 CLAUDETTE urban evading the entire game, running self-care, urban evasion, botany knowledge and we're gonna live forever.
In the instant i saw her urban evading on the other side of the map while being in a hook i could tell it was a console player.
Guys please, just watch some high ELO players/youtubers, i'm not even remotely good, i wont try to act like im a 1% top player, i can press M1 on gens and loop for a good while without wasting pallets being injured, why are console players so scared of bleeding? Can't you run? Can't you repair?
Just think that you're playing a videogame and you have a life bar, your actions won't be slowed because you're half hp right? You can keep doing exactly the same (there are exceptions, i know)
Please, please i beg yall ps4 and xbox players, just watch some videos, Monto, Noob3, Ussylis... I really want to enjoy playing with everyone, but I'm starting to grow hatred against console players.
Had to vent, sorry.
I just turned on cross play for the first time. Apart from the PC Huntress who camped the hook and slugged at five gens vs all four of us survivors on console, it's been a much better experience for me. I don't know what is is about console survivors, but most are absolutely terrified to play the game. Healing constantly, and being unwilling to work on gens past a certain point and throwing the game. It's so frustrating. I was going to try to finish the last 10 levels of the rift but the grind is just not worth it.
-
"Waste time carrying survivors" That's a new one. My mind is blown.
If you want to slug at five gens and hook everyone once, go ahead. It's boring and pretty scummy for survivors who have to wait for games, but play how you want.
-
It doesn't x2
I get match making like that as a killer too. I'm 16-18, just playing for challenges, and I get at least purple ranks in every game. Usually SWFs.

Everything is harder to see since they reworked pallets, hatch, maps etc. Everything is just darker and easily blends in environment like.... Yeah... They need to bright them quite a lot.
Even on maps that haven't been changed yet though totems are harder to see. It's just funny to me to see a killer complaining about totem spawns and not realizing they actually got buffed. I never bother looking for the hatch. My teammate is always camping it while I'm trying to finish the last gen and it's closed as soon as they go down. I never have a chance. I just pick one gate and try to open it in time. But I LOVE how new Autohaven is so dark you can't even see if there's a pallet at the end of the truck you're looping. IT'S GREAT

From a killer pov, while I don't see necessarily a skill disparity between PC and console survivors, I definitely noticed different trends.
I see most console players running self-care, although still common among the PC folks as well. They also tend to prioritize healing over gens, even when doing the gen is the clearly superior choice.
I am constantly amazed when my three teammates take the time I give them to heal each other with one gen to go. Then when I finally go down, the killer BBQs to all three of them, injures them, and nothing was gained.

Totems actually got a buff. They're much harder to see than before. I always run Small Game and I sometimes have my perk go off three or four times before I can find it. They've also make slight changes to placements. I've spent hundreds of hours in this game using this perk to help me cleanse totems and then things changed.
Yes, some are still easy to find. A lot is luck, but overall, totems got buffed. Stop whining. It's the risk you take with Hex perks.

I had a game against Ghostface where I was the only one Exposed and I purposely ran to two different teammates, both hid instead of taking a hit for me. A lot of people don't seem to understand the value of taking aggro away from the killer. After I got unhooked I went into a locker to heal with Inner Strength while (that same teammate who wanted to crouch walk around) kept trying open the door. Once i healed and left he just stood there.
I have the same thing happen to me. I'll be injured and run by two fully healed teammates and they Urban Evade and let me go down.
I asked a guy once why he didn't help me save a teammate. (I wasn't nasty to him, I just wanted to know why he did what he did). It was before EGC. A spirit was camping the hook which made perfect sense - the gates were open - and there was no NOED, and we were near one of the exits. He was searching a chest while I tried to find a way to sneak in and make the unhook before getting hit. I got hit, ran to him, he healed me, but when I tried to get him to come with me, he refused. He said no one ever helps him so he isn't going to help anyone else.
I think a lot of people are like that. Teammates are just a tool they can use for their own escape. Most people are bad at the game and they see an escape as the only way to win. I personally like trying to get better. There are times when I'm like, I just did not know what to do in that situation. I die or screw up and my teammate doesn't make it out, but I'm like, well at least next time I can try something else. LOL imagine if everyone used critical thinking and tried to improve at this game???
