I mean. All of those have significant overlap with horror and have horror sub-genres, so that seems a little nitpicky.
For example, Alien is both horror and sci-fi.
that... was not my joke.

typically when I've seen this happen it seems like they're mad at themselves for getting downed so early.
earlier today I had someone who just stood at a hook, and I asked him why in post-match and he said that he had had a bad Pinhead match just before and didn't want to play pinhead again.
-
-
I also agree that the key here is that this mechanic is forcing killers to leave the hook, whereas a better solution would encourage killers to leave the hook. e.g. something like the survivor CAN'T be unhooked for the first 30 seconds (or whatever) after being hooked, but there's also no hook progress during that time. so the killer is guaranteed that the hooked survivor won't be rescued for 30 seconds, so they're encouraged to hunt for other survivors, and gain nothing from camping the survivor during that time (rather it's always a bad choice to do so, because the other survivors can spend that time doing gens).
-
I disagree. Tunnelling is usually a strong (but mean) strategy, but hook camping a SWF team means the other 3 are popping gens, and will either 99% the gates and then unhook that surv, or if they can't do that in time then that surv will proudly die on the hook so the rest of their friends could all get out.
-
put it on the bottom or the top or even block the stats with it, but don't block the chat which I always want to access immediately at the end of a match to tell people "gg" and talk about how the match went.
-
I was in the same boat the last time I had that challenge; it took me FOREVER to get. At least as killer when you have a super-hard challenge you can see survivors usernames, and if they have "TTV" in them you can hop into their stream and ask them to help you. That's how I got one where you have to grab multiple people off gens, and another one that was equally hard but I don't remember what it was. On that last one, we traded, and I was also able to help them with a super-tough one (it might've been flashlight blind, or maybe it was something about protection hits).
-
based on previous hints, my guess is that next killer is Xenomorph, although I'd guess that their survivor will probably be some random lesser character rather than Ripley.
My TOTALLY random guess for the next killer is... uh... M3GAN. Or maybe the guy from Black Phone. Or some other Blumhouse monster. Note the lack of survivor, so that might suggest it's a killer without a specific hero, which I guess COULD mean FNAF, but probably won't.
EDIT: No, wait! I take that back: next killer will be Xenomorph, and to economize they'll tap Disney for the next TWO killers, and the next one will be Hatbox Ghost to tie-in with the Haunted Mansion movie. That's my dumb prediction. (jk Disney wouldn't have a character from a PG movie hanging people on hooks)
-
I don't understand why boil over isn't 3 different perks; one to hide hooks, one to get a wiggle boost when dropping, and one to make the killer veer sharply in random directions. Maybe combine those effects with one other similar effect on each perk, but having all 3 on one perk is WAY too strong. Most of the time if I pick up a survivor with Boil Over, unless I'm right by a hook, I immediately drop them. And if I find multiple survivors with Boil Over, then I go for slugfest.
-
counterpoint: this should be base. If your 4-man SWF's pro runner is kiting me while the rest of you pop 3 gens, then I should at least get the satisfaction of downing him in one hit once I finally catch him.
And before anyone says "JuST stop ChAsING HIm aNd gO PaRTrol gENs", I'll point out that breaking off the chase to hoof it over to the gens on the other side of the map from where he's kited me to (with a big chance of randomly choosing a gen without any survivors on it) is a terrible move, AND he'll follow me to know exactly where I'm going, and tell his teammates on comms so they can all move to a different gen.
-
DS used to be mandatory, but it got nerfed out of existence during the big perk overhaul. I did run into it the other day, though, and was momentarily really surprised and then remembered that it was a thing I used to see multiple times every match.
And DH is also a lot less common since it was nerfed, but I still see it fairly often.
-
the facecamping mechanic sounds like it might be good. Someone with more time than me should comb through old forum posts and try to count how many times the community has suggested this exact same mechanic over the years. :D
-
oooh! Eddie cosmetics! I was hoping Eddie would eventually be a licensed killer, but this is the next best thing.
-
I thought it was totally boxed in by a triangle of walls, but I might've missed an opening.

I assume it was because they'd been working on them.
one person each, all in the first 30 seconds of the match?
-
then there must've been some other reason 3 gens all went off together, while I was chasing someone.

I think at the very least killers should be able to see who is in SWF with whom.
So many times you play "nice" because you think you're facing solos, and near the end suddenly all survivors start bodyblocking for each other, 99' gens with adrenaline and instantly open the doors etc.
As a result killers start playing sweaty every match because it's too risky to assume you're not against a 4-man SWF.
One day I played against a TTV with 3 globes so I assumed they were solos. I lost the match and thought the survivors played insanely well. Then I watched the VOD and realized that they were a 4-man SWF. Within the first 15 sec of the match I had basically all my perks called and my position transmitted 24/7 because one of them had object of obsession, while I was trying to play stealthy. This kind of advantage is not fair, and had I known they played this way, I would have played very differently. But if I had not watched the VOD, I wouldn't even had thought they were a SWF, just that I was very unlucky.
agreed. playing a bunch of SWF matches in a row where I get steamrolled makes me take it out on the poor solo survivors I play the next round.

There... isn't an auto aim bug?
Maybe... just get good?
I main killer and never have this issue...
My dear sweet brothers in The Entity, if it's a skill issue then I've somehow suddenly gotten WAY worse at killer overnight, while simultaneously getting WAY better at survivor at the same time.
Also this is on PC; it's not just a console issue (although maybe it's a gamepad issue since I'm the rare player who plays on PC with gamepad?)
-
Survivors are 100% learning to game this garbage. Yesterday I had a survivor who would run at an angle away from me, and then when they saw my attack animation start they would zig-zag in the other direction, and even though I would turn in mid-animation to hit them, auto-aim would snap me in the direction they would've been if they hadn't zig-zagged. He did this like three times in a row in the same chase, and there was nothing I could do about it.
I'm also noticing it when I play as survivor; I TOTALLY suck as survivor, but I've actually been able to dodge some attacks by changing direction as the killer attacks, which I've never been able to pull off before. And if you think I'm just finally getting good then you've never seen me try to play survivor. 😂

@NotAnotherDoctor said:
Is this happening on PC too? I thought it was exclusive to console, but I'm starting to see it get more complaints which is good because it means it'll get fixed quicker
yeah, I'm on PC
-
Feels like this is getting worse lately, and I'm constantly snapping in a weird direction when I attack. And some of the best survivors know about it and can consistently fake it out.

As a killer main I never had a problem with survivors hatching early. That was just the rules of the game.

It's Alien. How well it plays remains to be seen...

1) would waste too much time
2) most killers don't deserve it, just remove grabs.
3) they would have to basically rebalance the game. Could work as an experiment for PTB.
Nerf to self heal made the game kinda scarier. It's not that comfy to work on gen while injured.
Mainly against stealth killers tho.
OMG, just removing hook grabs is such a simple perfect fix for hook camping! Not being sarcastic! It wouldn't fix it completely, but it would be a huge improvement, and would stop people "hook tickling" which looks and feels dumb.

Nah. I played a match yesterday where I was the last survivor with 3 gens left. I hunkered down at the edges of the map and evaded the killer to finish my gens, and popped the exit gate by myself. I won't lie, I didn't really think it would work out but it did. The game isn't over for sure unless you've been hooked and there's no one to rescue you.
how in the world could you do that unless the killer was AFK? And which killer? If the killer was patrolling gens, he could kick and regress them faster than you could repair them, and every time he saw a gen that wasn't regressing he'd know you were nearby. Unless you were tapping gens, and then somehow sneaking all the way over to a far away gen while he looked around your old location for a long time, but surely he would figure that out after a few times. And it especially wouldn't work once you were down to the last 3 gens.
Also why wouldn't you or the killer go for the hatch?

That bloodweb auto purchase feature is….. muuaaahhh, chefs kiss.
Anybody as hype about it as I am? :D
yes, this is something I've been wanting for a long time, and the implementation is excellent. I played this release in PTB, and was really sad for a couple weeks between the end of PTB and the launch of this chapter when I had to go back to old bloodweb. :D

Also, The Dredge is clearly supposed to be The Edge from U2. Once you see it it's obvious.

Homages aren’t a thing, I guess.
The OG trio are all clearly inspired by certain big slashers. Jason, Predator, and Bubba/The Hills Have Eyes respectively. That doesn’t mean a license fell through. On the contrary, it likely means they never got it in the first place. There’s evidence of another “Bob” killer that was inspired by Myers, before they got the big man himself and “Bob” was made redundant.
Slinger x Scorpion: Mechanically, maybe, but the character is completely different. Scorpion is also not a horror character.
Twins x Xenomorph: No shot
Trickster x Joker: Not sure where this one even comes from. Joker isn’t even a horror character. Moreover, they recruited a K-pop group for this chapter. Even if they landed a DC license, it must’ve fallen through very early in development.
Joker isn't a horror character... but a random member of BTS is? 😂
My rationale was that he's a skinny, smiley character, he throws knives (cards) and uses a blunt weapon (the Joker often uses a mallet or cane). AND he's the only killer who's announcement video was a cartoon, further solidifying the cartoon / comic connection. (yes, I know I'm reaching. This is for fun, you guys!!)
-
To rein discussion back in a little, this thread was originally intended to be about killers who specifically seem like they were originally designed to be licensed characters, but were changed to original characters because the license fell through. It's not about "inspirations"; the inspirations for the original killers are obvious in most cases.

i think twins is more chucky than xenomorph (i cannot see it im squinting so hard my eyes hurt)
My rationale (which I'm sure is wrong, but it's fun to think about) is that babby is a facehugger, and if she'd been xenomorph there would've been an intermediary step of laying an egg, but when it became an original character they just had her spawn babby directly.

Common items are common enough. I have probably 5 times as many brown medkits/toolboxes than I'll ever need. They cost 2,000 BP and you make ten times that in an average game, or more.
Take yourself out of the mindset of a "good" player for a moment, and put yourself in the mindset of a "noob" player: you have a tome challenge to blind the killer, but you don't have the hang of flashlights yet, so you keep getting the timing wrong again and again, but you're slowly getting better. You think you can pull it off next match, but you're out of flashlights, and there are no flashlights in your current bloodweb. Or the next one. Remember, you don't control how often flashlights show up in the bloodweb; the RNG does, and right now it's rolling against you. How does that feel?

I doubt a comic book character will come to DbD. The popular comic book characters are already licensed to other video game companies. Other characters are probably too obscure or not horror-related to be considered.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, get "gg"s in the post-game chat.
-
I agree. Killer hook counter wouldn't make a difference to killers who tunnel, but it WOULD make a difference to killers who specifically try to AVOID tunneling.
-
Why do you need lethal pursuer for that? I just always start every match by going clockwise around the map and about 50% of the time I find the box that way.
-
there were actually a couple times that I filled up void energy, but didn't get a notification, but definitely didn't have everything yet, but I don't know if that's because I didn't get anything or because the toast just didn't trigger due to a bug.
