  • @Mandy , can we request specific stat reports?

For instance, I would love to see current average BP rewards per match for killers versus survivors, both with and without factoring in dailies and Tome challenges.

  • Plot twist is great! I love it when BBQ or Deer Stalker shows me someone taking a nice little nap so I can go over and give them snuggles. 10/10. No notes.

And that's when you get left on the ground.

That basement has needed hooks for a while now...

yeah, but I had unbreakable, so I didn't care. Although I didn't even have to use it; he left me slugged twice and someone ran over and healed me once I was at 99% both times.

  • I'm surprised to see sloppy boppy so high. Is it the mangled part?

and I'm really surprised that Nurse's Calling didn't make the top 10. it's SO useful and powerful.

  • @shalo said:

Typical of this entitled generation, do a quarter of the work but expect the same pay as the person doing 4 times your output.

    😂

"Please have patience with the one Meg who showed up today. Nobody wants to repair gens anymore."

  • Exactly, to both of the above responses.

So survivor actions should all reward a LOT more BP (and killer actions should reward a lot less).

I had the funniest match. Two people DCd against a nurse so we got two bots. One was useless and couldn't last 5 seconds in chase so was taken out of the game asap, but the other one was cracked. She led the nurse on crazy long chases to the point where the nurse would give up. I would heal the bot asap because she was so good, and she'd take off and a short time later was back in chase. It was nuts. She outlasted me and the other guy and had zero hooks 🤣 I'm sure she got hatch too

maybe it was a matter of which perks those survivors had? I think bots only have code to use about half of the perks, and I doubt that they'll change their entire strategy based on what perks they have equipped (i.e. know that they're the runner rather than knowing that they have a gen build and need to stay hidden).

  • @SantaKlawz1 said:

I save them. But today one of the bots got beat to the hook by me and instead of helping me heal the survivor (another bot) they just teabagged us and left, lol.

    teabagged by a bot?

  • I think it's really weird how widely variable the lengths of tomes are; the first time I tried to 100% a tome was the one that featured Doc and I played constantly and 100%ed all the challenges but it was literally impossible to finish the rift before it ended. Meanwhile this last tome was up FOREVER, and there were some double fragment events, so I finished the entire rift, and then it stayed up for even longer because it was running in the background of the masquerade. It was kinda nice, though, since this was the one where they gave everyone premium for free via Prime Gaming, so now on top of all the cosmetics from the rift I have 1000 auric cells which I've never had any of before.

  • Yes, I do this a bunch. If one survivor sandbags another, I go after the sandbagger. If someone is pointing, they're goin' down. ...then I go where they were pointing and if you haven't moved by then that's on you. :D

  • good conversations here!

As a counterpoint to those saying "just go for the furthest gen at the start of the match", that's a great tactic at lower ranks, but I'm high enough rank that survivors usually know NOT to do the gen they spawn next to, so LP shows me which way they're going from that, and where they're trying to hide. And if I see a group spawn together, and I go over and one of them tries to lure me away, then I know that there are other, easier pickings hiding right around there.

Also, yes, I always include other aura-reading perks with LP.

  • it's hard to guess what xeno's power will be, because I keep thinking of things that would fit him but are already other killers' powers.

disappearing into the ground and popping up elsewhere, and having a lunge attack? Demogorgon

teleporting via "vent" objects? Sadako and Dredge

laying eggs and using them to spy on survivors? Singularity

face huggers grabbing onto survivors and having to be ripped off? Twins

    My rando guess is:

autonomous facehuggers that work like a combination of Victor and zombies. Vent props that killer can teleport between.

  • "one survivor is a malfunctioning android" power or GTFO

  • I'm crossing my fingers up to my elbows that now that DC bots are in, in a few weeks the devs will look at the game and say "oh! now that DC is less detrimental to the other survivors, we see that hook suicide is SUPER detrimental, and we should do something about that too! derp dee doo!"

Here to remind you why the Devs won't remove DC penalties.

Basekit Kindred would be nice thou.

that answer is living in the fantasy that this is a multiplayer game you can just drop into as a survivor. It's not. It's SWF or nothing. If you're SWF, you're not going to DC at the drop of a hat because you'll leave all your friends. If you're solo, you're going to suicide on first hook because nobody's coming to get you. And then when you've suicided on first hook, that's a whole lot worse for the other survivors than if you'd just DCed and been replaced by a bot.

  • dying on first hook : "this is a multiplayer game" :: spending an hour on the toilet : "that was a productive team meeting"

  • @Nos37 said:

Just try to attempt to unhook yourself. Once the others see that you want out of the match, they will stop at nothing to unhook you (even in front of the killer).

If they see that you're having a bad time and want to leave, they'll make sure you stay and even grief you afterward.

    painfully true.

  • The solution here is to just drop DC penalty. DC penalty was just a stop gap until survivor bots, so now that there are survivor bots DC penalty should be removed.

  • @Chomperka said:

Pinhead hoarder as obvious choose, extremely useful(although little nerfed with items rework) for pinhead, super useless for every other killer in the game.

Completely nerfed now; hoarder no longer affects box or any other killer items.

I still have a lot of Splinters.

I thought they were really cool, even if you couldn't use any perks. That was what originally got me to buy Michael. Played him once with a Splinter, decided I liked him and bought him up while he was on sale back in 2018.

    Same!

They need to bring back splinters, make one for each killer (or, better, let you choose killer for the match, but that's not gonna happen), and get rid of the "no perks" part because that's dumb.

  • @Ayodam said:

Because if you ran the killer for 5 gens but died anyway was it really a skilled play? Do you deserve more BPs than you got for your performance?

    ...yes? obviously?

Yes! I use Thrilling Tremors a lot with most killers, but it's especially good for killers who can teleport. I also feel like BBQ is a great perk for Dredge.

  • now that I've remapped invite to X I'm having a much better time, but I think the "unstunnable" ability doesn't work well and should be removed if they do something like this again.

  • Hmm, looking at the year 8 roadmap, and with the FNAF movie coming out in October, now I actually suspect the August killer WILL be Freddy Fazbear. At least I presume they would make him a killer before the movie comes out, as a promotion, rather than after the movie comes out.

I mean killers got very useful event powers? Exposed and insta-pallet break. They both are pretty good. Especially killers are using insta-pallet break power so much. And if there is no loop to next after that, you will just get hit.

Don't forget: survivors ALSO get "block the window that the killer just hit me as I vaulted through"! Seriously, 100% of the time I see that power I have just hit the survivor who used it, and it just takes a couple more seconds to go the long way around to pick them up or continue chasing. In most cases even without the window blocked it's faster to go around than through.

I'm trying to think what WOULD be a good survivor power for this, with the stipulation that it has to be used during a chase... maybe "tap that nearby regressing generator" would be a good one.

And the spawn a pallet one would be fine if the pallet just lasted for a few seconds before automatically breaking, or if it didn't automatically break, but instead only took .5 seconds for the killer to break.

  • AAAARGH!!! My tiny brain stopped looking for options when it saw "controls". I feel very dumb.

    Thanks for the help!

There's 3 certain gens you have to repair and once EGC starts the door will open. Can't ever remember which gens though.

it's only 2: chemistry lab (which is the one with the lab tables and the hole in the middle) and music room (with the piano). Which is why those two gens make the clock tower ring when you complete them.

The weirdest thing was the use invitation button was bound to Q by defauly and i have a azerty keyboard.

So I would randomly get buffs everytime i strafed left and it took me a while before i realised what was happening

I keep randomly getting buffs playing on controller, and apparently I accidentally press R3 a LOT. Wish I could just bind it to Y button.

  • I wish I could change the activation button; it seems to be either L3 or R3 will work, and it keeps randomly going off during chases; I guess I must be accidentally pressing L3.

You have to use the Terrormisu to see the aura. Anyone can collect them however

yes! thanks! I just finally saw that in the description. :D

  • rather, as survivor I can SOMETIMES see it; this last match as survivor I never saw it. I wonder if this masquerade is just really really buggy because they tried to do way too many things with it at once?

  • also, does the invitation aura only show up for survivors? when I play as survivor I can see it, but when I play as killer I can't. Maybe the survivors are just getting it before I notice it?

  • huh, just had the same thing happen again after 2 skill checks, but got the rest I needed (12).

I don't know if the floating dancers have anything to do with it but a killer exposed me with one too. The reason I think they might have something to do with it is the option isn't always available when I'm killer.

Do survivors get a speed boost around them or some other crazy boost? Why the mystery?

On my controller Right stick click does it.

yeah, I finally noticed that it says R3 to use an invitation. this last match was even more confusing; I got 2 invitations and never used them, and toward the end of the match my invitation icon turned gold and didn't show a number anymore? What does this all mean? This is way too complicated and unintuitive.

Camp Crystal Lake map and camp counselor themed cosmetics would be super fun idk what Jason’s power would be though and there’s not really an iconic survivor I guess Tommy in a way.

Tina Shepard, the psychic girl, maybe?

  • @Seraphor said:

Jason might be iconic, but his power is going to be incredibly disappointing.

I'll always hold out hope for an Alien chapter, it seems more likely now than it ever has before, but that's still not too likely compared to some others.

I was thinking about this, too; at this point whatever Jason's power is it's going to be disappointing. Unless they get SUPER clever with making him generally OP, but with a weakness based around a shrine to his mother in the basement. That could be neat.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I genuinely think the next killer is finally Jason

it's either Finally Jason or Suddenly Susan.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

They said that these next 2 killers are very ICONIC so it’s 3 choices Jason, Predator or Xenomorph. It’s got to be one of those 3 who could be more iconic than them?

"iconic" is a very flexible term. :) I feel like they've called every licensed character "iconic"...

    https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fdeadbydaylight.com%2Fnews%2F+iconic&oq=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fdeadbydaylight.com%2Fnews%2F+iconic&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQRRg60gEINTI2M2owajSoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#ip=1

  • Since they're in good with Capcom for the Resident Evil licenses, I would honestly love to see either Akuma or Morrigan as a killer.

It's not going to happen, but I think it would be really fun.

  • The fact that you can be doing a gen right under a camera, get slimed, and then fire off your EMP to get un-slimed AND disable the camera before the killer can TP to you, and then immediately resume the gen, is so bonkers. Someone mentioned this strategy during PTB, and it still works just fine in live. Even worse if there are 2 people doing the gen, because one of them can still be using a toolbox while the other has an EMP.

It's so bizarre that all of the other "something on you" killer powers are way easier to apply, way harder to get rid of, and way more useful.

  • I hadn't played Wraith in a while, and then had a daily to use him, and absolutely destroyed the survivors. With his improved invisibility and no light burn and moving super-fast while cloaked, I was constantly getting situations where I could corner a survivor and uncloak and they couldn't get around me and I could take my sweet time hitting them and not have to chase at all.

  • You forgot "Secret Neighbor", the Hello Neighbor DBD.

Which is still a flawed system that would need WAY more tweaks than youd think

but even with all the flaws and none of the tweaks it would be a way better system than we have now.

  • @Aurelle said:

It is a little strange that Ebony Moris appear more frequently than the green ones. I'm assuming the amount of map offerings, green addons, and green wreaths (BP offerings) is overwhelming the item pool for that specific rarity, so green Moris are less likely to appear. The yellow Moris are pretty rare as well, now thinking about it.

good point. And I bet fixing the rarity of them is super low priority since the whole mori system is on the chopping block anyway.

  • @jesterkind said:

Half of Kindred should be basekit, pretty unambiguously. The survivor aura half absolutely should be made basekit to better prop up solo players without giving SWF anything extra.

The killer aura half, though, would be too strong as a basekit thing, and honestly kind of unnecessary once the anti-camp change goes through. That part being on the perk is 100% reasonable, I think.

    agreed!

  • @Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:

Not derailing, but curious. Why is closing the gap from solo and swf so important? I like there's two game modes in this game lol /s

because a whole lot of people hate solo queue because you're playing with a fraction of the information that SWF players have, and killers don't know whether you're solo queue or SWF, so they typically play in a way that's competitive against SWF, but unfair and unfun against solos. And there are elements of the game that are problems in solo queue with its limited communication but aren't problems for SWFs, so fixing them is a low priority for the devs because they're not a problem for the most visible players -- influencers who primarily play SWF. A prime example is the subject of this thread: survivors getting left on the hook isn't a problem in SWF because you can coordinate who will unhook them and when, whereas in solo queue you have no idea if you need to drop the gen you're working on to go unhook, or if someone else is doing it, and more often than not either two people run to the unhook when only one needed to, or everybody hopes someone else is going for the unhook and nobody does it, and the survivor on the hook dies.

You're definitely right that there are two game modes for survivors -- an "easy" SWF mode and a "hardcore" solo mode -- but most players don't have access to the "easy" mode and would like to have a fighting chance in solo mode, or at least have the most frustrating parts (like being left on the hook) mitigated.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/376567/am-i-just-bad-at-killer-or-are-survivors-too-strong-right-now

The chase to gen speed ratio is off and has been off for a while. But it was hidden due to the 3 gen meta that was going on previously. Now that it has been nerfed and there really aren't any good slowdown perks anymore that slow the game down enough against these good survivors it can be quite bad.

Also with toolboxes and things like hyperfocus having come into the meta, really good survivors can exploit those to really shave off time on a gen to be around 60 seconds, or even faster if they get good RNG.

My personal advice to you is to do what i do which results in me getting more fun games most of the time.

    • On the 13th of the month, when the ranks reset, tryhard to get rank 1 as fast as possible
    • After that, start playing a "game" within the game. Where you goal now becomes to 2 hook every survivor, and then kill the obsession once the gate has opened. It doesn't have to be the obsession, but for me i'm "roleplaying" a bit and try to go for the obsession. Also the obsession gets bonus points for dying as the obsession, so it makes up for them not escaping a bit.
    • If you 2 hook every survivor and they aren't done with gens, start downing them with your power or hits, and chases to max out your bloodpoints.
    • Once the gates are powered, try to get in a chase with the obsession and down them, then wait for the gate to open, or open the gate yourself, and hook the survivor.
    • Bonus points if you want to run rancor and do this.
    • Let the others escape.

This results in a few things:

    • you only getting 1 kill, but still getting around 36k bloodpoints, nearly capping hook states while capping the other 3.
    • 3 survivors escape, meaning the game thinks you "lost" so your MMR goes down.
    • The survivors tend to have more fun and are less toxic in the endgame, often thanking you for a good time.
    • The survivors get a ton of bloodpoints
    • The killer gets a ton of bloodpoints.
    • Because your MMR goes down, your next match, in theory is more chill.

If you do this for a while, you start to notice that you stop getting matched against top survivors and you can play more fun more chill matches. If the matches get a little too easy or boring for you, play a few games where you kill all the survivors as fast as possible to increase your MMR and get matched against better survivors until you get that sweet spot of fun but chill. Once i hit that sweet spot, which usually only takes a few days after i'm done tryharding for rank 1, i will often play a couple matches like this, then tryhard for a match, and repeat this every few games, keeping me in that sweet spot.

this is brilliant and I will try it!

  • Almost everyone commenting on this thread needs to work on their reading comprehension skills for the SAT. You're all focusing on the OP saying that sometimes he gets steamrolled (and drooling at the opportunity to tell someone to GIT GUD), without reading the part where he says that the other half of the time he steamrolls the survivors, and the real issue is that matches are currently usually one of the two extremes with very few matches in the middle.

Telling a killer to "play more nicely" is only going to result in more matches where he's steamrolled, because the survivors aren't "playing more nicely" at the same time, and telling a survivor to "play more nicely" is just going to be detrimental to them for the same reason.

Although I'd rather a new mechanic encourage players to play more nicely than force them to, I'm hopeful that the new hook camping mechanic will make killers play more nicely, which in the short term will make things awful for killers, but if BHVR is smart about how they counterbalance that then maybe everyone will be encouraged to play more nicely and matches will be more balanced.
