remove DC penalty, and make kindred base NOW
Bots make up for DCs. I am sick to death of dying on first hook as I watch the other survivors pass up a million opportunities to come unhook me in this game's miserable excuse for a solo q.
This is the most brain-dead obvious solution to improving player QoL, and it blows my mind whenever a day goes by without it getting implemented.
If you're not going to fix this, then just stop pretending to have a solo q, turn it off, and only have SWF.

Just try to attempt to unhook yourself. Once the others see that you want out of the match, they will stop at nothing to unhook you (even in front of the killer).
If they see that you're having a bad time and want to leave, they'll make sure you stay and even grief you afterward.

that answer is living in the fantasy that this is a multiplayer game you can just drop into as a survivor. It's not. It's SWF or nothing. If you're SWF, you're not going to DC at the drop of a hat because you'll leave all your friends. If you're solo, you're going to suicide on first hook because nobody's coming to get you. And then when you've suicided on first hook, that's a whole lot worse for the other survivors than if you'd just DCed and been replaced by a bot.
I'm crossing my fingers up to my elbows that now that DC bots are in, in a few weeks the devs will look at the game and say "oh! now that DC is less detrimental to the other survivors, we see that hook suicide is SUPER detrimental, and we should do something about that too! derp dee doo!"
