Am I the only one who prefer Saya over Prayer beads or Amulet?
Moderately increases Yamaoka's Haunting reappearance duration.Moderately increases Yamaoka's Haunting reappearance movement speed.People often talks about beads, but I found Saya quite good in red rank, especially against those who has iron will.
When you face against experienced survivor who uses iron will, even having Stridor is hard to pinpoint their exact location, not to mention they will pull out a bunch of tricks on you:
*On top of crouching (to make yourself more silence) and reading grass movement of your ability*
- Swf - spam fast vaulting window/pallet far away when spirit is chasing your teammate, so spirit kept hearing the notification sound and might mess up her chase
- Fast vaulting window and slow vaulting back
- Run to locker then start crouch/walking to play around your scratch mark
- Dropping pallets early, read grass movement and vault back when spirit comes (crouch to make yourself completely quite along with iron will)
- Run to cliff/edge of building, then start crouching away but doesn't jump down
- Run backward when spirit using her ability (weakest strategy, only works against new spirit player)
With other add-ons, the moment you realize survivors are pulling those tricks on you, it can be hard to get right behind them.
but with Saya, you have extra movement speed after your ability, and allows you to make up that gap.
My usual build:
just using stridor on spirit is already too easy, she doesnt even need addons to be viable, you just use stridor, listen and get ez 4ks unless u verse some really cordinated survs and get ######### over by a key or alot of bnp-s or just gen rush in general. Also forgot to mention, spirit DOES NOT move corn nor grass that myth has been busted a long time ago on this forum,im guessin you meant that by "reading grass movement"

honestly I am fine with prayer beads there is counter play
spine chill
listening to the grass
watching the birds
using your brain
gen tapping
really once you discover it is prayer beads then there is a bit you can do to counter it, o and before you say "you shouldn't need a perk to counter an addon" what about all the people that say "want to counter toolboxes and insta heals? JUST USE FRANKLINS 4 HEAD"
grass doesnt make sound nor does it move when spirit goes through it thats a fact. There was a post here on the forums in which someone showed a vid in which spirit going through grass didnt make sound/nor did it move.Birds arent everywhere,i agree with the rest of the post except i dont gen tap but can just tell when the killer is coming somehow

Nurse is very easy to learn on pc. Not even close to huntress' skill cap
agreed, huntress has the HIGHEST SKILL CAP IMO due to all the maps there are.Alot of people say she has an infinite skillcap cause you can ALWAYS become a better huntress.

How about ebony moris only work after the 3rd or 4th hook? So if you made 4 hooks, you can start to mori the next downed person. This gives the survivors a little time to play and wouldn't be too much of a nerf, since you try to hook everyone at least once anyway to mori them.
This.Really good idea imo

I never run iron will.
In any case you have an absolute minimum of 4 attempts against a Spirit before you die so long as you aren't hook farmed without DS/BT or 2 hooked of course.
If you heal that number jumps up to 6.
It takes about 3 attempts to have a somewhat consistent read on the average opponent.
Your first attempt is without data and thus you can only use statistics and payouts. In theory this wouldn't let you do any better than RNG but in practice it does, however the difference isn't large enough to be consistent so if you want to call this one pure luck then sure fine whatever. But just understand that I'd estimate a 60% success rate for predicting a Spirit on your first attempt, with that number being higher if you are at low ranks.
Your second attempt has data but a single data point is not enough to construct a trend. Thus this is slightly easier but not by much and still isn't anything reliable.
Your third attempt has a trend now and thus you can make a meaningful prediction using it. This is where you can start to expect you can dodge the Spirit.
And finally by your fourth attempt you not only have a trend but also a possible chance to shake up the (very short) trend. By this point you can start getting consistent against decent Spirits. The best Spirits will still catch you due to doing the exact same thing from the other side but this is where you can separate the good Spirits from the bad ones.
Yes this is hard since you need to do it fast, but luckily it can be thought out in advance. Between chases you have time to process what you've seen the Spirit do and work out what your plan is in the next chase. Alternatively you can just try to do it intuitively, but I wouldn't count on that.
Which means you cant really outplay good spirits alot, and just rely on everything u said in HOPES that u get lucky and outplay her a few times. Also I myself when running iron will dont really have that big of a problem going against her and i do everything i can do prolong the chase but its all luck no matter HOW MUCH you think and take into the fact statistics etc,but without iron will she can just hear u etc everything i stated in my previous posts.I play soloQ which means no communication which means healing is a waste of time and wont get you anywhere but you just HAVE TO DO GENS if you want to get anywhere and even then people just give up/dc cause spirit and she isnt fun nor balanced as she should be IMO i will always state that until they change her.

If these Nurses changes go through, all people will see at red ranks will be Spirit, which means she will eventually get a """slight change""". SWF will dominate red ranks and killers playing something else instead of Spirit will get destroyed.
If this happens but Spirit does not get her """slight change""" like the nurse, people will start using the anti spirit build (Iron will, spine chill, etc) making her a little girl with a shiny stick.
And thats how you nerf the two reliable killers in one change. Good luck killing someone at red ranks
i play freddy and im doing just fine without spirit or nurse, just cause YOU dont have enough skill to be able to outplay red rank survivors without bs spirits phase walk or nurses power doesnt mean you cant get 4ks in red ranks. Also you SHOULDNT BE ABLE to win each game aka 4k each game. You WILL lose from time to time and you need to get that into ur head and start playing a variety of other killers

The information is from both the Spirit standing still (telegraphing that you need to do a juke even if it's not enough to know which one) and more importantly you have data on what they have been doing in previous chases or previous parts of that specific chase depending on it's length.
For the record:
Information = What you know about the current situation.
Data = What you've seen in prior situations.
These aren't the standard definitions but it's useful to distinguish between "I see them vaulting so I should cut them off" vs "they vaulted the last 6 times so I should cut them off for the 7th".
EVERYONE acts according to patterns. It's simply an inescapable fact of human psychology. The difference from person to person is in what the pattern is and thus how easy it is to determine what someone's next action is varies depending on the complexity of the pattern, this is how we can say someone is more or less predictable than others even if it's all statistics when you boil down to it.
For example me and my brother are very similar in how we treat these kinds of mindgame situations. So if we play rock paper scissors and tie the first throw then we nearly always tie the next few as well even though statistically that doesn't make any sense.
In general however the factors that influence what someone will do in a given situation are:
- Difficulty of each option - What physically can they do?
- Payouts - What's the potential end results of each option?
- Statistics - What do most people do in this situation?
- Information - What options can they mechanically determine are not going to work?
- The data they have on you - How predictable are you?
All of these factors can be estimated. You know for sure what they Payouts are since they are static in any given situation. Statistic are also static but become less influencing as the game progresses. Information isn't quite known for sure due to things like Stridor but can still be estimated and is mostly static barring perks and fathers glasses. Data isn't static but you control it yourself and thus it is known.
Data in particular is powerful due to how you can manipulate it to make sure the Spirit is more predictable in the endgame.
all of what you wrote sounds really nice on paper, but when you take it into a game you need to make QUICK decisions based on everything you wrote, and you dont have enough time for that. Then theres the fact that not running iron will ######### you over,or the killer running stridor ######### you over aswell or the spirit using the glasses.I said all of this tho already, but even considering everything you said it all bares to what happened the first few times, did you get downed or did you live by winning the 50/50s so you actually have enough information about ur opponent,or are you already on ur second hook and about to die next time you get hooked. Also thats my point that i was trying to make, its all a guessing game about who gets more lucky, cause even tho YOU HAVE information taking into the fact that you remembered correctly what happened in all of ur chases(which you cant cause you cant see the spirit but can only tell where did she end up leaving her phase so you cant actually tell what did she plan to do but only what the end result of her phase was. Also she can just do something completely illogical like i said and make it seem really weird)its still a guessing game with luck involved.ANYTHING that isnt guaranteed involves luck on what will happen next aka who will get more lucky and guess correctly. What you said can bend the chances A BIT but luck is still on the spirits side due to collision, numerous sounds survs make etc.Im pretty sure the fact that you need to run a perk to even stand vs spirit is kinda dumb and the fact that can be taken away from you by one perk or one addon is kinda dumb aswell

nonononono
If you have enough information to deduce someone's next move rather than simply estimate it then that's a reaction. And the information required for an estimation doesn't need to be what they are doing at that exact moment since Humans act according to patterns which can be determined while playing with them and then utilized to determine the next move in the sequence.
Obviously no action will work 100% of the time, if it did then you could simply preform that action every time and the Spirit would never hit you. Instead both you and the Spirit are forced to use what they've seen each other do in prior encounters to determine what they each will do in THIS encounter.
knew u would introduce "patterns".They depend COMPLETELY on the other person and he can do something completely illogical of what you would think,so thats really unreliable.Like at t walls for example.First time they bait you into vaulting the window and you vault it.And then you would think they wouldnt do it again, but they do and you get baited again. Also where is that information ur talking about?Only thing i see is a spirit standing still with no sound or a whooshing sound.Im guessin you might be reffering to ur patterns again, but you dont have ENOUGH information if you guess wrong the first few times, which then brings me to the fact that it depends if you guess wrong or right the first few times. Also im really glad you didnt just say "git gud" or similar and are actually trying to have a normal conversation unlike many other players.

At worst that's still false.
If you have counterplay while injured with iron will then give her hell while you are still healthy.
Also that's not even true since a lot of her counterplay is about messing with prediction which would still work even if you were fully visible.
prediction is just a fancier word for guessing in this case, you cant predict where someone is going to go if you cant see em,hear them. And also alot of spirit mains i encounter say they have no problem with not being able to hear me,cause they hear my footsteps breathing etc.But you can outplay her if you get lucky, and choose the correct decision out of the ones that you had.Ofc out of the decisions you have none will 100% work you just choose what you think will work the best. Also the fact pallets are completely unplayable is kinda #########.Like i said needing to have iron will is still kinda #########,needing a perk to be able to even have a chance to outplay her.Once someone defending spirit told me "you dont need iron will it just makes it easier"how is there ANY predictions when you can just hear someones grunts?I know this doesnt have anything to do with our conversation atm but just putting that incase ur bout to say you dont even need iron will or something similar to it

im hoping ur trolling.Spirit with stridor is literal definition of bs like prayer beads. Also thinking doesnt counter something that can track you by sound. You just get lucky here and there so you actually outplay the spirit.I mean you can obv just gen rush spirit but it depends how good can she track with sound and how many downs can she get in a small amount of time.About nurse i actually LIKED going against her no sarcasm intended. But spirit is just bs,you cant outplay something by only having information that she is phasing aka the whooshing sound,u are prob gonna say "just put on iron will idiot" or smth like that. You shouldnt need perks to even BARELY counter her but not actually. And then there are stridor spirits which are 99% of spirits i face

I love this game, player since June 2016.
There have been many unbalances in this game and that the devs are dealing little by little ... but the issue I try to focus on is the generators.
If the real frustration of the killers really are the generators, should that frustration always exist?
I believe that a game should not be frustrated to play it, should have fun, on the contrary, in the interview, there was a reply a bit .. absurd of X person (if you have seen X video, you will know what I am talking about).
I think that although this X person does not have the answer about the generators, the designers of the game should consider replacing the mechanics of the generators and making the game FUN .. not with frustration.
Is frustration part of the game? No, that is not like that.
i never get frustrated about gens, its been so much time its been like this so i kinda dont even care. The fact that even the veteran players,i mean the ones that have been playing for a while cant stop genrush cause killers are so reduced in their powers is kinda bad.I just feel like increasing gen speed is the way to go,no matter how simple of a fix would it be.JUST AN OPINION

Nah. Instead we're going to repeatedly tell the devs to ban people more often and for less. It's much more effective long term for the devs to keep control of their game as opposed to rewarding poor sportsmanship unless they acquiesce to their demands.
its a game, people try to have fun.Spirit is fun for one side and not for the other. If you ban all people that dc from her all ur gonna get is a bunch of extremely long lobby times and ALOT less people playing the game. They need to do some changes to her so its fun for both sides. It aint fun having 15 sec chases as survivor and to just do the holding m1 simulator only,Also you need to equip PERKS to even have a chance against her power. You shouldnt need to bring iron will/spine chill each game just incase its a spirit

I play killer. Id like to say I enjoy it I do play spirit with that being said its also a very TOUGH killer to learn. I had my first taste of killer as hillbilly and leatherface. The chainsaw was fun but it just didn't suit my playstyle so i branched out to other killers. Part of the reason why I enjoy spirit is the mindgame and the absolute crucial level of detail you have to pay attention to when using phasewalk.
Now with that being said I realize that spirit is considered one of the most OP killers out there alongside nurse but seriously guys? DCing cause you dont wanna face them? Or how bout when you bully somebody that's still struggling to learn how to be a killer? the trash talking? You guys talk about nerfing ruin and other perks that the killer has but when survivors are running in voice comms, using Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, etc. You really only bring the kind of pain on yourselves when your bullying NON nurse or spirit killers. Facecamping and tunneling are definitely looked down on but when you open a gate and decide to bully a killer instead of actually leaving you wonder why they do what they do?
I mean seriously if you dont wanna deal with OP killers then maybe you guys should play something else. I play spirit because i enjoy her and because its DIFFICULT. I have to WORK for my kills and its not easy. Some people can master it and just get 4k every match. I am not one of them but seriously If you don't want to deal with spirit or nurse look at yourselves before judging what a killer is doing. I have been in good matches bad matches, close matches and matches were people jsut DC or give up because they cant deal with a good or mid level killer. SERIOUSLY guys learn to practice with what you got and stop complaining about whats OP.
I guess at the end of the day going up against either of these killers isn't fun for people. But when you start looking at yourselves and ask gee I wonder why there are more spirits and nurses? You only need to look at the behavior of survivors in matches and what they do when they win. If you wanna trash killers regardless of rank you get what you deserve. I will continue playing spirit because to me I am having fun its challenging and HARD. I didn't just decide to roll spirit because it was the most OP killer I rolled spirit because I love the ability I love the difficulty and the challenge but most importantly I love thinking and mindgaming survivors.
spirit is literally all ears lmao. How much you want to believe the truth is on you.And killers DC alot aswell. One gen pops and boom dc dont think killers are as holy as you think.I do play survivor alot more then killer but when i play killer i play freddy/hillbilly/huntress killers that arent bs like spirit.Try playing survivor against a spirit and see how much fun will you feel bud

As a predominant console plebeian who plays some games on his PC - Dead By Daylight included - it always heartens me to see a game offer graphics options. Not just the usual ‘gamma and that’s the only option’ graphics options. It’s rare to see games on console that let you decide on a wide range of graphics options, such as terrain, model detail, foliage, frame rate cap, and so on.
Dead By Daylight is known to be terribly optimised on any graphics setting above ‘low’, so why not make all default graphics, including those for console, low, or at least give console players the option to choose between standard and low graphics?
As much as you may argue that it can ‘give an unfair advantage’, it’s always the player’s choice as to whether they choose the graphics settings to be low or not. At the same time however, the commonness of using low is what indirectly makes Trapper weak as his traps can be visible on low but not on others - but that can be resolved by buffing Trapper in general, which is a whole other topic.
Also V-sync for PC plz
I dont know why they havent fixed bs stain going through walls yet.It removes so much from the mindgame potential,BUT at the same it differentiates good killers from the bad ones so it kinda does add a bigger skillcap and more skillful interactions is def what this game needs

This is true, that would be the ideal scenario. But fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), hitting the survivor every time is not a guaranteed thing. You gotta' work for it.
getting the pallet down is good enough, but the window is strong by itself (IMO)

If they wait until they can see you, vault after then and then vault back. This will put you inside the shack with them by the door. They'll turn around and run back the other way, but you'll be close enough at this point to make vaulting the window into the shack a medium vault (easy hit for you). Their only option will be to use the shack pallet.
yeah, the problem is anyone with enough of a good reaction time aint gonna fall for that.I dont cause its just so common.U fake it,they go outside, they start returning inside and then you fast vault it.ALSO you can easily just NOT get urself in that position by vaulting the shack from the outside which i always thought was a bad decision but one NA survivor(Ussylis) told me how to play it correctly when he figured it out,a few months back in summer.

I'm sorry I have to disagree, the best you can do is make them drop the pallet after 2 loops and in this case you already lost 20+ seconds as the killer in a chase. Now imagine at Rank 1 what that does cost you... May I ask which rank you play at as killer? Thanks.
Just to add to you sometimes next to shack there can be debri pallets, jungle gyms etc so you can combine it so you never block off the window or even if you only use the shack window you go to the other tile use that pallet and come back to the shack.IMO even with the window only shack is really good still can waste good time
-
LOS is line of sight. In this sentence he tried to say shack has alot of LOS(line of sight blockers) which improves mindgame potential i disagree with it due to the fact there are still cracks in walls and the red stain goes through walls anyway which idk why they havent fixed yet removes alot of mindgame potential
-
@JetTheWaffleCat said:
I personally have no issues with shack. It's pretty fair on both sides and the killer and survivor have equal mind game potential.
A lot of killers have some sort of way to shut it down as well.
Thats what i replied to someone, some killers have powers to shut it down alot better(demogorgon fr example)and some killers dont have any other way except red stain mindgames which are the unmindgameable part im talking about(BTW when i said its unmindgameable i meant against really good survivors, not in a way that the shack is unmindgameable against bad survivors)

@[Deleted User] said:
Don't have to necessarily mindgame it. You just need the survivor to rotate in a way that takes away the guaranteed fast vault from the inside. This usually forces the pallet down after one loop and renders shack fairly unsafe.
why is everyone taking it as if im talking as a killer xD you can fast vault it from the outside in time most of the time or you can just medium vault it before you even see the stain.

While I agree it's mindgameable, it would be vastly better as a tile if you couldn't clearly see through every single wall from both sides.
that is EXACTLY what counters moonwalks even on the side where lockers are there are still little holes so even if the killer completely hides his red stain you can see him before through holes but you cant vault yet cause he still CAN double back to make you go into alot worse position you need to get the minimum fast vault range to be able to not get mindgamed atleast thats how i see it.And the other side is unfair cause that one literally doesnt have ANY mindgame potential whatsoever. The other one atleast doesnt have completely see through walls lol

@Peanits said:
Shack is one of the more mindgameable tiles. There's loads of LOS blockers and you can double vault to catch them out of position. Even if they manage to get back to the window in time, they'll either be forced to take a hit or use the pallet.
believe me double vaulting can be countered by insta vaulting from the outside from the shack. One thing another person said is changing routes and that kinda makes it mindgameable if you make the survivor vault from the side opposite of lockers, where the pallet is cause that side is alot shorter and alot more unsafe.I dont know if you were tryna give me tips as a killer or as a survivor, but im talking as a survivor cause i never get mindgamed there except if the killer forces me to vault the window in the different way where the pallet is.
-
@Boosted_Dwight said:
No I don't agree. The shack is mind game able, hiding the stain, taking different routes, or reading the survivor's behaviour can all end the shack loop quickly. If you can't catch them there, you're going against a survivor who is definitely better than you.
im talking about it as a survivor main.Well i dont completely main survivor but i know i never get mindgamed unless i vault from the side where the pallet is and even then you just need to have a good reaction time to beat that.I can get mindgamed there tho if i get too chill and i mess up cause of it.Only that side is mindgameable imo and its very bad aswell cause if you vault and the killer double backs most of the time you can just vault back
-

Shack is mindgamable. If you run them around the window and double back, chances are they jumped the window. If you just walk in a straight line its kinda the killers fault.
im guessing ur talking about vaulting it from outside?I do that and even if you mess up you can vault again unless they triple mindgame you which is unlikely i have only had like 3 killers that did that and even then i could use the pallet. You could be also saying from the other side from the inside,If you take that route then yeah i understand but if you take a longer pathing you have more time to react if the killer is gonna double back so yeah, you need to know the lunge range tho to not overcalculate urself and get hit by a lunge anyway, but i defo see ur point i can get mindgamed there but the thing is you can nearly always adjust urself to run the other side cause you can vault it from the outside

At first i thought this was bait lmao.Ok so,i will tell you why it isnt fun to play against spirit.Just one sentence, counterplay is LUCK based. And luck is flipped into the spirits favour. If ur injured without iron will you are DEAD.Even if u have iron will ALOT of spirits are running stridor now so it doesnt even matter, she can hear you. When you arent injured or if she doesnt have stridor and iron will works everything is luck based in spirits favour, but if she can hear you there is nothing you can do.There is no "mindgames" verse her.You CANNOT be unpredictable cause if ur injured she will hear you anyway cause literally all spirits ive seen at red ranks use stridor. Its also pretty sad you need a perk just to SLIGHTLY counter her. Then there are her addons like for example, prayer beads. They make it so unless u have spine chill u are 100% #########.Even then u are #########.So called "mindgames" are when you give the other side information and they fall for it like the red stain mindgames. While going against spirit you dont have ANY information on what is she doing, especially if she is running prayer beads. If ur teammates are actually sentient they WILL do gens but other than that chases last really short. Also her passive phasing can ######### you over more than anything sometimes. She dissapears together with her red stain near a jungle gym you hesitate to keep going for example cause you think she is doing something else and then you DONT make it to a pallet. On smaller loops its even worse cause she can just stand still. If u run away she will see you running and will phase after you instantly and ur gonna get hit.If u stand at the pallet she will feel ur collision if u go around the pallet and if you keep vaulting it she will just wait on one side for you and will hit you or she maybe is just standing still so you get hit without her even using her power.Atleast on t walls its a 50/50 chance for both you and killer to guess correctly while spirit has luck completely tilted in her favour.I have enough game sense with spine chill to use it properly against spirit but it even has it limits, and once spirit catches onto what are you doing after a loop or two you are dead. There is my whole reasoning on why spirit isnt fun to play against.I dont dc and will try my best but if the spirit is good i am gonna die fast in a chase, and only hope is gen rushing.Hope you understand what i meant in my post.

Tbh as a killer, I HATE T-Walls. You can see right through them since they have gaps in between the boards and whenever I play survivor, the only person the killer is mindgaming is himself since I usually have him in my sights.
You do not see him the whole time.In between time when vaulting the window is when you lose vision.Thats when the situation is a 50/50.Then mindgames can be involved if you fall for the window fake moonwalk next time so he thinks that you went back cause he doesnt se the stain but you actually come up behind and hit him

Great suggestions in my opinion.

When the killer is hiding his red stain, I usually just run away to a next loop if possible, but in most cases, it's a pure guess, you never know which way he is going unless you can see him.
I especially hate T walls, where you're about to vault a window and have to guess if the killer is going to follow you or double back.
What I mean:
Alot of stuff in dbd is 50/50s i always see if killer will try to predict first tho.If he does ill fake it next time. But then he can trick me by moonwalking so i think he went back while he is just hiding his red stain .Alot of possibilities if killer is good.Survivor is very limited in mindgames.Wish there was a way to beat it but that it would require a lot of skill

The killer cant see you either, hes guessing as well, so you can try and trick or outsmart them. Spinechill can help with some jukes, but generally mindgames are exactly that, mindgames.
I get how you mean i should use spinechill, ill try that.I rely on heartbeat most of the time tho.

Yes its possible, saw a red stain through a wall in the game. Must be a bug relating to the optimization.
Which map was it?Red forest?

Sadly no, I'm waiting for an increase in camera movement for both killers and survivors too since Nurse seems to be unplayable on PS4 but I'm just waiting.
