Not at all, these are my preferred challenges.
The criteria is interesting, but if you don’t have them you’re just out of luck and have to wait till it randomly shows up, which is especially frustrating for a timed event
-
I’m not against cross play to bolster the ranks but certain killers will have an advantage on PC over their PS4 counterparts so may just get some stronger killers and PS4 Killer leaderboards will likely drop below them
-
If there isn’t a chance I can get you such as heavy camping then I’m not going to try. Or if I’m on the opposite side of the map, especially if the hatch or open door is by me, then I might wander over to see if I can get to you if you’re a full hook. I also don’t expect to be rescued from a heavy camper. The goal is for as many people as possible to survive. With statuses like exposed or perks that reveal you after a hook it makes the decision even dicier. But I usually give at least a test and see how close I can safely get before giving up on a hooked survivor
-
I don’t get how tunneling is toxic. Before I came to this forum I did it and still do it. Not out of animosity or grudge or anything. Getting another hook on a survivor will rarely be less beneficial than chasing a different survivor likely at full health. Unless they are good at kiting a killer then it may not be worth the chase when I could be chasing a weaker survivor and getting hooks. Just seems like the most obvious route to take. I guess if you are just endlessly chasing one person while all other generators are finished I can see that but isn’t that the survivor’s goal? Hide or kite the killer till everyone can get out?
-
It’s like people can’t handle a mute button in these comments. Optional chat wouldn’t hurt anyone though would give an edge to some survivors if they decide to use it. I enjoy solo but I also enjoyed this game a lot with friends before they stopped playing. Would be nice to More easily make more already in the game. Chat would be a great addition for consoles where creating a group is difficult
-
Just remember that there is the trophy for all survivors leaving through the hatch at the same time. So whatever you change about them can’t screw that up as it requires keys

What type of tall grass might I ask? Corn fields block stalking (and by relation breaking him out of it). The same happens with mikey's stalking in corn fields. They're considered line of sight blockers even if you're directly on the survivor's path.
It was the tall reeds in backwater swamp to the right of one of the exit doors

That isn't a bug. Undetectable by definition means no terror radius, no red stain, and survivors can't see the killer's aura.
I’ve looked up the timing and saved the video to count. I was looking at him easily long enough to drop his shroud, but it didn’t drop even if I accounted for add ons extending it.
-
I feel like there has to be a bug on Ghostface. I was running toward the doors and he was standing in tall grass so I didn’t quite see him until I was right on top of him. No reveal and I had time to crouch and try to walk away but I’m sure he heard me and just turned around and swung, but until he swung there was no terror radius
-
I find it more fun because of the survival tension that builds compared to the hunting of a killer
-
I don’t know about high rank play but keys are not easy to come by. After a long time I still haven’t gotten more than 2 or 3 add ons for them. Hamstringing them by permanently closing the hatch especially when the killer has almost free reign to find it and its tendency to teleport would make the item a fairly poor investment. Maybe it’s that specific survivor that made it difficult to see but I just picked one up in my last game out of a chest and he held his hand out like there was an invisible door in front of him the whole time

Sadly, it's not as simple as killing all 4 Survivors with a ebony mori anymore... The game requires you to have a really perfect game while killing all 4 Survivors to get a Merciless Killer.
You'll need to focus on any things like winning chases, generator protection for more than 2 minutes, hitting Survivors constantly, and hooking them through every stage. That means if someone DCs mid-match or just suicides on the hook, than the Adept attempt is over... and you'll have to try again on finding a suitable match up with Survivors that won't just give up.
Another thing to keep in mind, the emblem system likes to contradict itself on many points, yes the game wants you to have short and fast chases, but it's actually hypocritical and is more beneficial if the chases are in between being long and short... It wants you to get the two hits on the Survivor, while having the chase be a decent length to rack up hunter points (chase points) and than down them on the 2nd hit to hook them.
It's important to constantly hit people as the Killer when going for an Adept, it counts towards the chaser emblem and that emblem is the worst of them all when it comes to an Adept run, it wants you to constantly damage Survivors while also working towards hooking them on every stage AND protecting your generators for 2 minutes+ (That means having no generators finished for 2 minutes, or at least have them last for 1 minute and 30 seconds is also acceptable... But the best results is 2 minutes+)
It's in-general a tough challenge, especially on Killers like The Plague that have powers which can cause Survivors to eventually be one shot... but you also need to get both hits or hit them constantly as The Plague... so its kind of contradicting towards several powers, like Myers exposed effect and GhostFaces... It wants you to get Tier lll Myers to level up deviousness, but it doesn't want the chase to instantly end...
GhostFace is easier cause you can go into NightShroud mode and just hit them for a "Silent Stab" mid-chase.
Thank you that helps a lot. Any suggestions for the classic killers? I’m working on the platinum before branching to the DLC

It goes by emblem system now.
https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Emblems
The trick is to not kill them right away or fast, and build up in other categories. Such as hunting/chasing deviousness, hooking etc.
Your rank will also determine how much easier or harder it is to double pip. Merciless you need to "double pip". It used to give you merciless by 4k's (killing all 4) but not anymore.
Thank you. That’s almost as bad as exposed then. To get merciless we now have to show mercy.
-
Yah after this I’m expecting Nurse to be the hardest part of the platinum if even possible
-
I always worry these big nerfs are eventually going to nerf the trophies out of reach for most. I’m still working on trapper out of the original cast

Sounds like you were exposed. His ability to stalk you to full bar means your a one hit down from full health for I forget how long
Really? I thought that revealed your location. That’s a stupid name for that effect. Explains a lot of other situations though
-
Free to play no longer means subscription or no subscription. Subscription is now subscription based and free to play is no upfront charge to play the game. So:
wow is subscription based and fortnight is free to play. Buying the game with no charge beyond the console cost for multiplayer is just normal

So many of you act like the last survivor knows where the hatch is. Vast majority of the time I can’t find it. It’s far from a free win. Not only does the killer already make a decent profit off the three kills it is preventable and the killer has free reign to keep an eye out for the hatch while survivors risk their lives searching. The hatch opening requires some progress. The killer has to put in the effort but that doesn’t mean they are entitled to a tilt every time. The hatch is a runner and mechanic that keeps the hope alive for a survivor to keep playing. Sure some people may abuse it but that’s a vast minority in my experience. The killer has a massive advantage against a survivor that is in the position to need the hatch to have a decent chance of living.
In my eyes its simply the killer gets a healthy reward for 3 kills and the survivor that finds a hatch gets the hope that keeps them playing in otherwise hopeless games. Is it a perfect system no. But a killer isn’t entitled to the last kill and a survivor has to work for that last chance. Many of you act like it’s just handed to survivors.
Also to get really out of the box on this the horror genre is built on a single survivor having a macguffin to win in the end. But all their friends and family are still dead -
What’s wrong with going for the unhook right away? I’ve found killers won’t expect it if you’re sneaky enough. Unless you mean when you're just staring at them. Also what’s your definition of constantly. I usually try to juke and hide but if I can’t lose you I’m left no choice but to use pallets to live.
-
I’ve only had connection based issues
-
With paid dlc and prior paid game I hate that there are microtransactions. The cells are connected to cosmetics so that doesn’t bother me too much though I feel shards are adjusted according to the microtransaction economy instead of a fair grind.
-
Just rampant disconnects for me and Long survivor que times which has been screwing up my trophies. Missed it twice now from the last survivor dcing
-
Definitely pumpkinhead
-
If the killer doesn’t have the bandwidth to maintain his connection to that many people yes it is. Most games where the lag is the worst I get messages from the killer apologizing. Many know their internet sucksMaster said:@OGlilSPOOK20 said:

Making ######### up? Hmm not sure how I feel about this since you just said, the topic has come up often. But I'm gonna guess you're a killer main who thinks it's balanced getting undeserved hits..... Am I right?
Its not the killers fault if you have a bad connection to him

-
Isn’t the point of this to encourage grabbing the unhooker instead of hitting the unhooked?
-
This is how we introduce people into the game. We lose often because of that. I can see the frustration with high tier teams for killers but without a healthy killer population, that opt out would make very difficult, we would never get people to play much less play solo and that kills the game’s growth.
But matching is definitely an issue on both sides. -
I guess I can kind of understand. The problem is as a survivor your escape options are tied to getting at least 2 generators and the longer the match goes on the more likely you are to lose. My goal will always be to get two generators done as fast as possible. With no hex there is no reason to do totems. Since sabotaged hooks come back that’s pointless. Chests I grab as I come across them but see no reason to seek them specifically due to the increased chance of becoming exposed to the killer.
I could care less about getting max blood points and do not care at all about rank. My goal is to win. If there were more dailies maybe my playstyle would change but I’m usually stuck with two killer dailies and one survivor or two. So I run out of factors that change my playstyle quickly -
The devs tried that first and it was completely unbalanced and didn’t let the survivors hide
-
Probably knew he was going to lose so he took his pound of flesh. Slashing on the hook is toxic. Making it impossible to take you off the hook by staying right there isnt
-
Short attention spans. I’m also a stealth player
-
If you’re getting camped by killing yourself you give less time for your fellow survivors so yes it is lack of maturity and selfishness. Also what’s you’re definition of bad teammate? All these reasons are pettyMaxi605 said:@Mister_Holdout said:
Actions like this demonstrate a total lack of maturity. Not really but ok
I never let go of the hook unless i'm getting farmed/camped/proxy/face or i have just so bad teammates, it's annoying but meh, they will de-pip becouse of it
-
Depends on the context. If the difference like I said is a second I could care less. Actively killing yourself has the exact same effect therefore they are equally bad to me. DCing while the killer is carrying you is worse.Master said:@kone19 said:
@Master how is that positive? It’s a difference of a second or two.@xmenfanatic it was purposeful. Attempt to escape ASAP till struggle then immediate death from a purple perk person.
Do I really have to explain why not-DCing is a good thing in a multiplayer game?
Yikes, seems like we truely have come this far nowIts about time that the devs punish DCing
Like I said how is that a positive they are equally bad in this situation.
-
I think it’s entirely perk dependent. Low level but high ran survivors barely have a chance against high tier killers. Communication among survivors makes them even stronger. But killers against lone survivors have a huge advantage. So it’s very dependent. A communicating team of high tier survivors against a high tier killer is probably in the survivors advantage however matching seems to love to put top tier oilers gainstvmy barely level five survivor from my others being 10.
-
@Master how is that positive? It’s a difference of a second or two.
@xmenfanatic it was purposeful. Attempt to escape ASAP till struggle then immediate death from a purple perk person. -
@chemical_reject ok. Good
to know. Not helpful if you’re damaged but good to know -
@flamestandish that is a terrible strategy the killer won’t keep chasing someone else if there even is someone else. They will go for the one hit down and guaranteed second stage hook. Especially if it’s a nurse.
-
@Judgement yep pretty much lol but even closer
-
@Tsulan yes they try to lose the killer by using me as bait or unhook me to let me get hit again so they can get away
-
@DarkWo1f997 can’t loop without the terrain to do it. I had no chance with my area of the map
-
@Master this wasn’t across the map. This only happened once so I’m laughing at it now but it was spawn next to a generator that had no over and a second and a half the killer turned the corner next to me clearly just starting his patrolling at the closest generator. I hadn’t even registered my surroundings or moved more then a couple feet by the time I was seen with the where to go. I still loved a little longer but there was no where to get away. By the time there was enough terrain for that I had already been hit once
-
@Mister_Holdout then you’re just selfish in a team game. And going out of your way to do so
-
In other games it is used as psychological strategy in this one it’s just to be a jerk
-
@Mister_Holdout well then I hope they/you enjoyed losing the game because that’s what keeps happening afterwards
-
@Master they had just unhooked me they literally guaranteed my death
-
@Baphomett too late that’s already the second that costs me my life. I should accept healing not be forced into it
-
The rank doesn’t bother me so much as the perk discrepancy. Skill I can match. My level 5 single perk survivor simply can’t do much against a tier 3 purple super killer. There has to be more than rank taken into account
-
@Yrwenn some do but usually just one, two if I’m lucky. It’s usually stacked killer and low to mid perk set survivors and one high tier. Some we win but most of the time the favor is highly skewed to the killer especially if the match starts to snowball early. The stacked killers are usually high skill as well. I can usually work around high tier Hillbillys and trappers but those are easier with my play style. Once they have the screw every generator perk, see everyone for fixing a gen or one getting hooked, etc. and I have to search for totems and avoid stuff at baseline it’s very difficult to make headway unless all the survivors are on their game.
-
I have to give this a read but from the title alone yes. I’m sick of my level 4 single perk survivors getting matched with tier three stacked killers from getting 4 to level 10-13 for the trophies but no strong main to share perks
-
I’m a new player and I don’t mind the hide and seek aspect however it is incredibly frustrating when I’m a low level survivor matched with stacked tier 3 purple perk killers that can see where you are constantly from the perks as well as significantly slow you down. But I think this is more of a poor matchmaking issue than a balance as I don’t have any high level survivors with perks yet to even test counters.
