  • I feel the same way. I've played without slow down perks on Blight and I haven't gone below 2 gens.

  • If survivors win = SWF; if survivors lose =/= SWF. /sarcasm

  • This game is essentially a race between killer and survivors. As long as the slow down is impactful will be meta regardless of how much generator speeds are set to because slow down will make the game easier for killer.

I think that good killers will move away from slow down because other perks will make the games faster and more games means more blood points.

Either way though, it's pretty bleak for survivor. Bad killers will win with slow down and good killers will win incredibly quickly with chase perks.

  • With the new update coming out and the strategy of hard tunneling and hard camping has become even more prevelant, I think it's worth bringing this idea back up.

  • Screenshot 2022-07-19 182441.png

Why am I getting a bonus for going into a queue that's oversaturated BHVR?

  • Go and look through my history. I called BBQ meta several times in the past and I clearly said that I would run it even if the bonus was removed. And now BBQ + Lethal Pursuer is my go to perks on Blight. (Cough* and compound 21)

  • This is something that I find so odd. When I play survivor, I have to wait for several minutes and when I play as killer, I get instant queues. But I am getting 100 percent bonus for playing survivor, why?

  • Many killer powers already deactivate when near the hook. For example the Dredge cannot teleport to lockers near hooked survivors. Or do you mean that base mechanic cannot be changed, in which case, I hate to break it to you but BT was made basekit specifically to help with camping situations. And if BHVR finds other ways to reduce camping they can and will.

  • You're lucky that making really really silly posts isn't bannable in the forums. But this post is a prime example for why BHVR should consider it.

  • I honestly don't have anything to add to this discussion. But I'm also not willing to let this thread die. I want the developers to be forced to address the issue of Bubba and Billy face camping hooks.

  • I really wish that Keys had aura reading of the hatch by default. There have been a few games where I've found the key in a chest, but cannot find hatch and die to end game collapse. Keys are meant to show auras, so let that be basekit.

  • These are some of the best suggestions that I've seen. I really hopes that this post is seen by a developer.

  • The only way that Blight would be balanced base kit is if he had no add-ons at all. So I disagree with you. Rather than changing Blights add-ons, which are pretty balanced (when compared to each other) , Nerf Blight's basekit.

Blight should have his movement be at 110 percent, while keeping a 32 meter terror radius. All killers with a reduced speed have a strong chase power. Blight is not an exception to that rule. Once his speed changes, then BHVR can monitor him and if additional changes need to be made to his add-ons then they can do that then.

  • MMR for new killers starts just under what your average MMR is for killers that are determined. Which means if Legion is the only killer that you've put a fair amount of points into then all your killers are going to share that MMR until you've put several hours into them. That means that you'll have to lose a bunch for it to properly calibrate, which is where your current frustration is coming from.

Also because you've been playing legion, you've basically cut down your chases that aren't free hits. This means that you're MMR with legion is probably a bit overtuned. Legion is oppressively strong until mid to high MMR.

I would say, if you want to get better pick up trapper. You'll lose a ton, but it will really help you to learn how survivors think and you'll have to improve your M1 gameplay.

  • People will stop using BBQ for a bit, until they realize how good it actually is. BBQ even without bloodpoints is one of the best information perks in the game. It gives you information precisely when you need it as killer and has very little counterplay.

  • What I've done when I've run into this is to repeatedly grab them from lockers until I burn out their flashlight. It's definitely an exploit though.

  • If you're good with Blight, he's in my opinion the easiest killer to max out blood points. Otherwise legion.

He never said Off the Record would be broken. How would it be broken? How does 80 potential seconds of NOT doing the objective sound broken?

I'll give you what I think the new survivor bully squad build is.

Off the record, Decisive Strike, Mettle of Man, Dead Hard

So imagine this scenerio if you will.

I am Dwight, you chase me and I go down. I am unhooked and my team mate who is injured after getting off the hook. You the killer have come back to the hook and are looking to down the injured survivor. But I body block (first body block) even though it's been 15 seconds I still have the endurace effect due to off the record, You then change targets to me and when you think that you've downed me, you eat a DS because after all you're a filthy tunneling killer. The chase continues and right as you start your swing animation I react and protect myself with Dead Hard, and run away, resetting the chase. You continue the chase but everytime you are about to down me another survivor takes a body block hit. But eventually, I'm downed again. I am saved from the hook and this time as you swing to hit the unhooker, I am able to get in front of them and you hit me again! (How could you do this to me) But it's ok because now I've got 2 stacks of MoM. Me and my team mate both leave towards the exit. As I reach the doorway, both me and the other survivor wait at the door. You hit me again, but I dead hard and get my 3rd stack of Mettle of Man. This is enough time wasted that all generators are completed. But alas, I am injured now, in deep wounds and you the killer are close enough that you feel that I must be within reach to at least get one kill this match. But alas, As you hit me a final time, MoM activates my teammate opens the door and I am out.

  • As much as I agree with Otz's points, and I do. I disagree with this being presented as "BHVR listen to Otz!!!" You can simply make a post where you paraphrase the points that Otz made, you can even add or remove parts of his argument if you would like. I think the arguments that he makes can stand on their own without having to say, these points are valid because Otz says so.

What I mean: what if the killer didn't tunnel etc but a survivor thinks that "my team is trash" etc and suicides on hook. And I can see swf abusing this

What's there to abuse? If a survivor dies , survivors on a whole are at a disadvantage. At that point the killer simply needs to make sure that all survivors have been hooked once. And then the killer has won the game.

Killing the weakest link shouldn't be a guaranteed win for the killer.

So if the 3 survivors are good enough that they can waste the killers time and avoid getting hooked, then in all honesty, they probably still deserve a 3 man out.

  • I'm going to say something incredibly unpopular. What made BBQ overpowered was not the perk itself but the fact that when you ran BBQ you could guarantee that you would have enough bloodpoints to always have the best add-ons at all times. You never were in a position where you needed to change what build you were using because the add-ons that you needed for your build had run out.

  • @Valik said:

I do like the idea of, instead of making the perk activate once alone, causing it to have a stacking bonus with fallen allies.

    • For every ally that has died, increase Generator Repair speeds and Exit Gate Opening speeds by 16/24/32%

At that point, the perk becomes incredibly strong even when you're trying to get out with another survivor trying to loop the killer.

This would work too. My idea does include a stacking bonus, So for example. If you unhooked 2 survivors and they were both killed before you were hooked you would complete generators at 300 percent. So a generator completed every 30 seconds.

The reason why I opted for such a large percentage is to have a condition that is game winning in a tunneling scenerio that would not exist in a game where the killer spreads hooks.

  • @LapisInfernalis said:

And what about someone DCing/dying on hook right after another survivor got the bonus? There are people out there who would do this to take advantage of a perk like this.

Even if someone DCs or dies on hook, the bonus is lost as soon as the individual with the bonus is hooked. And the game is down to just 3 survivors, which is usually a guaranteed loss. The changes are only really affective in a situation like I listed where a killer has tunneled one person out and is trying to secure the kill on the second. Or when a killer is only going after 2 survivors. For example Surv1 and Surv4, but ignoring Surv2, Surv3. But like I said before as long as a killer is spreading hooks then the bonus does not come into affect.

Otz is right that Corrupt exist to help killers get off to a hot start, getting an early down then can be snowballed into more value from that perk. Why should I be punished for successfully using the perk? the answer is a perk should never punish the player for getting strong value from it and the changes to Corrupt punishes the killer.

edit* you actually said Otz said corrupt exists to help killers in the early game, true and it still helps killers like trapper to setup and most of them wouldn't get 2+ downs, but it shouldn't punish the killers who could get 2+ downs.

What is the counterplay for killers dealing with an SWF squad who uses an oak offering, and tries to blind you with 2+ flashlights, sabo hooks and body blocks? There is none, you're most likely not getting that hook and not going make it to a scourage hook on a big map for certainty.

Let's make this perfectly clear. The goal of this update is to increase the value of subpar perks and reduce the value of perks that offer too much value. Corrupt was not some mid-tier perk, it gives way too much value to killer. Killers got many many base kit buffs. It stands to reason that these changes for killer have to come with the cost of reducing the value of the best perks that they can run.

  • Are you surprised. People who use meta perks like their meta perks, it's the opponent that doesn't. So of course the individuals who it affects the most are coming to the forums. I personally say just adapt to the changes, if a perk isn't worth bringing any longer, than don't.

I'm assuming the Devs know its picked for the blood points more than the aura reading.

Sure on some killers. But on Nurse, Blight, or Huntress. Those killers would run BBQ even without the additional BP, I absolutely run BBQ for aura reading on Blight and not for the BP. But the extra BP also means that I can run whatever add-ons I want in addition to having a meta perk.

Ooo thanks for the info! I better start prestiging all the licensed survivors too then!

I have all the licensed survivor P3. Mostly to give them all some outfits since they don't have one other cosmetic.

I think you missed my point. I don't want to have blatantly overpowered things with no counterplay, but small changes that actually force players to work around something rather than outright cancel it.

Then the example you gave was a poor one. Crawling through trails is not a true counter because you lose mobility to make that play and it's also not viable in all situations, for example you can't crawl through trails of torment while in the middle of a chase unless your goal is to go down but avoid having the torment status affliction, which in some situations is the correct play. But that's not the definition of a counter, an example of a counter would be using iron will vs spirit.

  • Spirit doesn't teleport. She simply moves faster and is hidden. She can be blocked by pallets and windows.

  • I think that the amount of time before the effect wears off is the key to balancing Overzealous. Right now it's just a few seconds, but make it so that it's a full 60 seconds and can be refreshed by going into the radius.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

Blight with a 24m Terror radius and 16m with monitor...

    Ha, no thanks.

No one suggested reducing the terror radius to less than 32 meters. Blight like Nurse would continue to have a 32 meter terror radius even with the changes to the default move speed.

  • I have been making this same argument now for a very long time. And I'm making this as a Blight main. Yes, Blight should absolutely be 110 percent rather than115 percent. I believe the developers initially thought that Blight would be a mobility killer with a weak chase power, but the reality is that his chase power is not weak at all.

The thing is, if you made blight 110 it really wouldnt change anything, if you made spirit 115 it would change a ton

There are many times when as Blight you need to chase around a loop. The slower speed would increase the strength of those tiles. And it also will increase the skill floor to use Blight well.

  • @Brimp said:

The only thing that really needs to be changed about blight is c33 and alch ring.

I think he did make a point when he said why is blight 115 percent move speed while spirit's is 110, and I have to agree. Blight should really be 110 percent move speed when considering the strength of his kit.

    You're right.

What's worse is that unsafe saves encourages tunneling. Even with BT. With BT basekit, more unsafe saves will result.

At least if no mither is basekit then the killer can instantly go for the fool who unsafe saved because they don't have BT. This is what will discourage tunneling imo.

I'm completely honest here. I want to verse you and 3 of your friends. You can run BT + no mither + whatever other perks you want. And I will verse you. If you can get all gens done, I'll concede that you have a point.

  • Is this how to say you're new to killer without saying it explicitly?

  • I don't pay attention to items of survivors. I don't think killer should be able know ahead of time if survivors have specific items.

  • @_AdamFrancis_ said:

Nobody is crying. It is just stupid to get punished for your teammates mistakes.

Playing survivor is all about getting punished for your team mates mistakes. That's why you play as a team as survivor. If you're not a team player or your team mates are not team players than yes, that should cost you the game.

  • I've seen some good suggestions, but I offer 1 buff for her that I think would change Sadako and how she's played a lot. Have it so that she can see the progress towards condemned on survivors. I guarantee that would make her a lot more lethal without a single other change.

  • How about no for all of the above. If specific killers need buffs they can be buffed. I don't feel that it's justified to grant an outright buff to all killers.

  • The buffs to legion absolutely do make him stronger than he was before. How much better depends on where you thought he was before. A lot of people put him as the absolute worst killer, which he definitely is not now. But even if you rated him a bit higher, I think that Legion is better than doctor now, which he wasn't before. Comparable in strength to Demogorgon from my experience.

  • You think this will really hurt survivor? It will definitely lead to some unsightly killer gameplay for sure!

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Legion aswell, but they atleast have some really good music

I've been doing really really well with Legion after his buff. Eventually I'll plateau at his new MMR with his buffs, but honestly he feels decently strong now. I'm not sure exactly where I'd place him in a tier list yet.

Honest question, how much of the camping and tunneling is due to the (today nerfed) Circle of Healing and how much is just the Killers being campy tunnelers?

Exactly, the idea that if killers were buffed they wouldn't camp or tunnel is outrageous.

  • Midwich and Azerov's are his strongest maps.

  • @KFChris18 said:

Killers can no longer afford to spread hooks these days. With first chases costing at least one, two or three gens if you're unlucky and circle of healing rendering injuries moot, killer have to commit to the tunnel or lose any pressure they might gain. If games weren't so fast then there would be less overall tunneling, but until the game slows down, expect lots of tunneling and camping. Thats just the reality of DBD right now.

I disagree with your assessment, which is make the game so killer sided, that killer can win regardless of tactics used. I offer a counter proposal, make tunneling a tactically bad decision and make it base kit.

  • Spirit and Blight, invisible rushes at increased speed. sign me up!

I guess I have different definitions than you. To me, a skill floor is defined as how much one needs to know to have a basic handle of the killer’s kit. A skill ceiling is the maximum amount of learning one can do to master the kit. So every killer has a skill floor and skill ceiling, with varying amount of time and practicing needed to get from the floor to the ceiling.

So to OP’s post, Blight really doesn’t take much to pick up and go. You move at base speed, have a standard terror radius, a highly mobile power that is also lethal, and very strong add-on options. Not to mention that you can use just about any perks on him effectively, particularly meta ones. But of course you’re not going to know it all in 10 hours of gameplay.

Yeah, that makes sense. Then we really share opinions on the matter. I've brought this up before and I'll bring it up again. I think Blight should be a 4.4 m/s killer.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Are you talking about old Spirit? Because after nerf you can easy tell when she is using her power (can't fake it anymore) + you can hear from where is she coming from.

The phasing sound is pretty quiet. I would say that you can catch survivors by surprise in much the same way as a tier 2 Michael. Spirit is still a very strong killer. I do think that she's largely over rated, but she's still high A tier. Around the level of hag.
