I'm trash with flashlights. I completed one of the flashlight challenges using pallet stuns over about a dozen games and I've never pulled off a flashlight save - and at this point it's kind of laughable because I don't have enough flashlights left to "practice" comfortably. I managed to do the Dark Sense one by playing extremely selfishly and saving no one - I didn't like that game.

I am the same with flashlights. If you have any firecrackers, they will count too. That was the only way I could get a save.

Wait a second. Since when rank means anything?

One game I experience red ranks who are very very good, the other game I just play casually because they (other red ranks) play like brown ranks and I don't want to torture them.

That was probably me, i suck as survivor but i somehow wound up in the red ranks.

Seems way too easy to pip as survivor (especially in comparison to killer)

  • I just don't like that I am still not at 70 even though all challenges are done. I would like to see more challenges or drop the tiers to maybe 60.

It didn't feel like a grind when I was doing challenges, but now it does since it takes about 10 or so matches to do one tier.

  • I only feel bad and show a little mercy when someone dcs.

  • I don't think it will matter if you derank as killer, I am only at rank 8 but I am always matched up with rank 2, 3, and 4 survivors.

  • Does anyone really believe that you get higher quality items after prestiging?

I personally have not noticed a difference.

If there is a difference, it must be pretty negligible.

You can prestige at level 50, but you lose everything and start over with a bloody cosmetic. You can do this 3 times to get the full bloody outfit.

Definitely not worth it, but if you already have everyone sitting at level 50 and need something to spend points on....

  • I don't think it is worth it, but I have started to prestige some killers just so I have something to spend the bps on.

  • Currently at 67... I have all the challenges done and I will probably grind out the rest but I am not sure about the next rift. I have limited game time and during the past 2 months it has all went to dbd.

Hoping that they will reduce the grind so that it might really be an hour a day like they said. Or at least add more challenges to help with the rift.

Speaking heavily from experience as a rank 1 Survivor, as well as using some basic thought experiments, Self-Care isn't just useful, it's an amazing perk which opens up a lot of opportunities. It's not the best perk in the game, but it's darn good.

People who say Self-Care is useless haven't considered the following:

    • Self-Care isn't actually slower than normal healing in terms of time efficiency. (Think about it, two people healing for 16 seconds is a total of 32 seconds, which is the same as the 32 second one person heal)
    • Most of the time, it's hard to find teammates. Yes, even with Bond, you'll sometimes have to look around for people to heal. This wastes time.
    • Even if you know where teammates are, you have to move to them to heal. This wastes time if they're not directly next to a generator. (Even worse if you need to leave your generator to go get healed)
    • Even if you know where your teammates are, and moving to them doesn't waste time, you now have two survivors in the same place. If the Killer shows up, neither of these survivors can do generators OR healing and the Killer gets huge mag pressure.
    • Oh, and did you consider what to do if you have no teammates? I have made lots of clutch plays by Self-Caring to go get a hook save on the last other remaining survivor.

Self-Care is extremely versatile, and it's a great perk that I nearly always regret taking off whenever I do.

Anyone who says otherwise either misunderstands math, the game, or they're lying to themselves about its usefulness.

I agree completely. It isn't the best perk, but still very good. I only play solo so it is comes in very handy.

Great point about the time factor, 2 people at 16 seconds is the same as a solo at 32 seconds.

During end game it comes in handy as well. I am not trying any rescues while injured if the killer is camping, which he should be doing at that point.

  • One game after I died I watched the last two survivors and one was just going from locker to locker in the basement. I dm'd the killer and told him. Was that toxic of me?

  • I would love to see predator in dbd, but he has his own 4v1 asymmetrical game coming out soon.

  • He is definitely way too loud.

As a killer you are not going to be able to hear any footsteps other than your own.

I would also reduce the cool down for the shred. Way too much of a penalty for a miss.

I like @Kycer idea of being able to teleport to a portal without having to stand on a portal.

This is what I would suggest. I would say stop 3rd party communication and force people to use their dedicated voice system. It will suck ass-ets, but in all sake for fairness and gameplay quality. Then survivors have the option to talk/text by using the keys. T,Y,U with I opening the text menu. You also have the option to voice to text and mute.

T: this is the default for whisper. You need to be within 5 meters to hear or see the text. For text it will have 40% opacity and last for 3 seconds (for those who are in range).

Y: this is default for talk. You need to be within 15 meters to hear or see the text. For text it will 60% opacity and last for 7 seconds.

U: this is the default for yell: You need to be within 40 meters to hear or see the text. For the text it will be 100% opacity and last for 10 seconds.

Remember, ANYONE even the killer, can hear the conversation if within range. But of course, killer cannot talk to them.

This would help balance out between solo and SWF. You can still communicate and work together while having the negatives of being overheard and being grouped. That, and have chat and voice recordings for reporting purposes.

I like your ideas but i don't think it is possible to eliminate 3rd party communication.

  • I was dreading trying to do the 6ft under challenge and I got it on my first try this morning!

Nothing too crazy, I had one already hooked in the basement and was bringing in a second and noticed a survivor trying to creep into a locker. That made for an easy third person hooked and BBQ showed me where the 4th person was.

I didn't think I would get them to the basement but agitation and iron grasp made it happen!

  • Seems fine to me, they give you free shards just for playing which you can turn into new characters, skins, teachable perks, or bloodpoints.

Price may seem high, but really those shards are a bonus so anything you get with that should be viewed as a bonus too.

  • @Mr_K said:

If you're the last survivor alive and it's clear the killer is trying for the Six Feet Under challenge.

Catches you and passes other hooks just to hang you in the basement.

You wiggle free and run as far away from the basement as you can.

Yes, you are an #########. Is it okay to be an #########? Yes. Just don't pretend you're not.

Yeah, at that point I would give the killer his final basement hook.

Just yesterday I was playing a hag that was going for it. I was on my death hook anyways so I didn't struggle as we traveled a long way to the basement. 4th survivor got the hatch though...

  • It is a little boring, which is why I liked the addition of the archives.

It gives me more incentive to play as survivor than I typically would.

The extra bloodpoints are nice too.

  • I was super lucky and got it on my first try.

Matchmaking, which had typically been pairing my rank 9 killer with rank 3 and 4 survivors, matched me with 6, 7, 13, and 16.

I had one in the basement and was bringing in the second and I saw someone trying to sneak into a locker. That made for an easy 3rd survivor hooked and then my BBQ showed me the fourth.

I had agitation and iron grasp so I just chased the last one until I was close enough to get to the basement.

    Luckily I didn't get any dc's.

  • It can do that, but I would say that the survivors are horrible if that would happen.

  • I don't know why there is so much hate for it. People talk like it will take down 4 survivors after gens are done, if that happens then it is the survivors fault. A killer should only be able to down one survivor, two max thanks to noed.

lucky you, you got nice survivors

mine always disconnect/struggle until the endgame timer ends just so they can throw insults and all in the endgame chats like "######### you ######### i wont give that challenge to you, #########, get ######### ######### lmaoooo rage salty woman" (yes this is a real comment i got after the guy dced in front of the last hook.)

That sucks, I was actually the opposite when I played someone today. He already got 2 kills in the basement and since I was on my death hook I just let him carry me across the map to get his third.

Unfortunately the 4th got the hatch before he could close it...

Nah sweetie I play in red ranks where killers mostly don’t waste time with NOED and even when they do, survivors know how to play it. I played for hours this morning and three killers had NOED. Once, it saved the game for a killer because my teammates were doodoo. Another time I cleansed it right after it spawned and the killer got nothing. Last time it got the killer two hooks before I cleansed it and three of us escaped. This is me playing solo. And none of those three times did I feel the game cheated me or was unfair. We just didn’t do totems. After any of those three games I could have changed out a perk for Det Hunch but I decided not to.

The balance is there, you just have to find it instead of whining for developers to hold your hand 👍

    I agree.

If NOED gets a killer more than 1 or 2 hooks, then that is on the survivors.

  • 1- DC player husks

2- DS to deactivate once another survivor is hooked or once you are healed

    3- Better matchmaking

4- Better ranking system (way too easy to rank up as a survivor)

    5- Better totem placement

I see, you are one of these casual players not knowing basics of a balanced pvp game.

Not worth my time arguing with someone like you.

Are you a competitive player? You are in the wrong game then.... Way too much rng for a competitive game.

  • @DwightOP said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/945402#Comment_945402

Imagine trying to balance the game with perks in 2020. Imagine not learning from mistakes. Imagine not improving. Imagine keeping everything unbalanced as it is. Yeah, thanks. Not interested into his little bubble.

It is impossible to balance everything in this game, way too many factors to consider.

You choose your perks to counter what you hate the most, sounds like you hate NOED so you should run small game.

I hate getting surprised by killers so I run spine chill.

Killers that hate gen rush run ruin.

If the game was fully balanced then would there even be a need for perks?

  • I don't like swf either, but it adds to the variety in the game. Sometimes it can even be good for the killer because they refuse to leave anyone behind.

I have had matches where they destroyed me, but I had one on the hook after the 5th gen popped and we then proceeded to play musical hooks until 3 of them were dead.

There are way too many things in this game to fully balance it, swf, rng, maps, add-ons, etc.

For every 0k game you have, there is probably a 4k coming (and vice versa)

  • @DwightOP said:

idc about small game, stop annoying me. You don't get the big picture, stay in your little bubble

You should go to his little bubble because he is right. Plenty of perks that help with totems if you choose.

Besides, if ruin isn't running then the majority of survivors won't bother cleansing dull totems (unless they are running inner strength).

  • This would be a buff for survivors, so what would we do to buff the killer? More totems or longer cleanse times?

  • You can't really call it competitive when you can't even define winning and losing.

What makes a killer win, a 4k? Does he lose if he only gets a 3k and someone escapes through the hatch?

Can a survivor claim victory if they get 0 gens done but get out the hatch with a key?

There is a LOT of gray area where neither side can claim victory so you can't really call this game competitive.

  • You can have your opinion but i don't see how you can say that you see zero problem with it when the developers came out and told you precisely what the problem is.

It is not a matter of being outnumbered, it is a matter of what is good for the game.

I am sure survivors would love to see a killers perk loadout and the vast majority of survivors would be in favor of this, does this mean it would be good for the game?

  • Just run it by itself because know one will search for totems if there is no ruin. Luck of the draw then as to whether or not you get a good totem placement.

Idc about lobby dodging. Killers do it a lot, I see no reason why Survivors shouldn't be allowed the same luxury.

If they added something that led to more killers dodging lobbies, then I guarantee you that they would remove that feature just as fast as they did this.

It is not that tough to realize that long queues are bad for the game, so they will do what they can to improve that (like removing something that people admit to using for lobby dodging).

I know matchmaking sucks, I don't like it either. We should be asking for improvements on that instead asking to bring back a feature that lets you pick and choose a good team at the cost of other people's time.

  • You can keep leveling up demo without actually playing him. Just earn your bloodpoints with one of your other killers (that does have ruin). I earned most of my points with leatherface and the shape because I got BBQ on them early.

  • Give up, it is not coming back.

The fact that you are telling them it is for lobby dodging is hilarious since that is the exact thing that they want to avoid.

You should at least mask it and say that you want to know if you have a noob on your team so you can help them or something along those lines...

  • @FabV said:

I love when they SC while you have Sloppy and NOED is active, instead of trying to open the gate or bust the hex.

I have seen people healing against infinite tier 3 myers as well, hilarious.

  • I run it sometimes, comes in handy as a solo survivor.

Also doesn't it run at 50% of normal healing speed? So if it takes 1 person with self care 32 seconds to heal, how is that different from having someone heal you in 16 seconds (2 people×16 second=32 seconds)?

It is very situational though, sometimes you need to finish that last gen before worrying about healing.

  • @Fibijean said:

    Imagine getting banned for crouching.

But he was doing it really fast!

  • I like the key idea, but the mori idea is bad. Why even bother at that point, hooking them would quicker. The flashlight, pallet, and body blocking doesn't happen often enough that it is a concern.

  • @VincentRedfield said:

The problem is this game has extreme helplessness. Unlike f13 or last year or Resident Evil or Evil Within, survivors are helpless. No weapons to fight back at all.

There are hatchets in every locker dude ;)

  • Honest question here, so take it easy on me. I don't play survivor too much, but why is self care looked down upon so much?

I know it is slower but 1 person with self care take 60 seconds, someone healing that person takes 30 seconds (2 people x 30 seconds is still 60 seconds total)

I get if they run across the map to a corner it wastes a lot of time, but i have no problem sitting on a gen while they heal themselves close by.

  • I think he might still be trying to finish level 3

  • I get what you are saying, it is way too easy to get to red ranks as a survivor so there will be a killer shortage at red ranks.

The reality is that matchmaking is so screwed up right now that I don't think it will affect queue times for killers at all.

On PS4 killer queues are almost instant, survivors take a few minutes.

  • Be ready to open the gate immediately and hope the killer is chasing someone. Also make sure you have BT equipped to ensure the safe unhook.

  • Don't worry, there are just as many threads complaining that it is too hard. They can't make everyone happy....

  • @GrootDude said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/931858#Comment_931858

I agree with you on that, I made a thread earlier about that.

Has there been any update as to when the survivor husk will be implemented when someone dc's? I remember them talking about it a while ago but haven't heard anything since.

  • Bloodpoints, shards, or auric cells would be great, but I doubt it will happen.

  • No, they will not carry over.

Also there will only be one rift out at a time.

The archive challenges will still be available to complete, but you will not earn any rift fragments.

  • I know I am horrible, but I had to try and complete the challenges.... Before the archives I never even tried to use one.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 13
