I see this said a lot to justify overly comedic or non horror things in this game and it gets on my nerves more than anything. so far starters, DBD IS a horror game. It doesn't matter if it 'stops becoming scary' its still a horror game with a horror centric theme that, until last chapter, has always kept the horror centric theme.
DBD being horror is what makes this game successful and I'm sorry but straying away from horror to move onto other genres is just…weird. So what because the game stops becoming traditionally scary (at the devs fault btw) that means we just move on from the horror genre and start fresh? Everything in DBD people try to use as justification doesn't make sense especially since the mascot skins such as Robbie or Clowns community skin are often used as justification despite mascots being an extremely common fear (John Wayne Gacy hello?) and the Robbie skins are in a league of their own as literal icons in the horror genre.
Bottom line is its ridiculous that people fight so hard for DBD to stop being a horror game when it being horror is what made it so famous in the first place and I swear moving away from that will be something that kills this gameIs that the developers' fault? I see it differently. Just watch the same horror movie over and over again. At some point, you won't be scared anymore.

I know in thr Forums, bad-mouthing BHVR will get posts taking down but this is a genuine concern, not bad-mouthing so before whoever take this down, hear me out.
BHVR never really cared about fixing things unless it brings them money. I mean, look at the Twins Rework. They did a terrible job at it and reverted everything about it. If it was so bad why didn't they, I dont know, push the update back to fix it? Well, its because in the same patch, they have the "new and improved store." Something that will bring them money. But instead of pushing the store back with the same update, they gotta make sure it gets released because "money."
Another example. Its funny how BVHR is nerfing/removing skill expression to cater to newer players such as stuff like Lightburn but all this does is 1. Ruin the game for veterans. 2. Strip away extra fun from the game and 3. Doesnt help newer players because they never even cared about skill expression at least where they are at this point.
You wanna know what will HELP newer players? Free banners, badges and cosmetics for prestige, updating their tutorial to be more inlined with the game they have now, increasing bloodpoint gain to help players prestige faster (along with iri shards) getting rid of SBMM, etc. All of these will help in the long run but due to how time costly it will be to implement these features, meaning theyll lose money in thr short term, they'll much rather remove advanced features because its "easier" and "Time/cost effecient." Goes to show that BHVR really only do things of quality when it comes to money.
It's sad how BHVR is only catering to things that matter because of money but in the long run, this will hurt their game massively, losing more money than they could ever gain doing this.
TLDR: BHVR only "fix" things in their game if it makes them money.
Your post is only 50% correct. I think your headline is terrible..... a stupid statement that doesn't really help anyone.
That the BHVR doesn't care or only does things that make money is a lie and not true. I'm sorry, but I can't share your opinion.
But it goes without saying that BHVR also does things that bring in money. We are talking about a company that has to earn money. That's quite simple and nothing new in the computer games industry.
To be honest, I don't think it will hurt BHVR in the long run. As long as there are people who pay enough or keep paying, they will continue. That's as sure as the Amen in the church.
Just look at the shop.... we are just getting littered with outfits and who knows what else is coming.

I just want to clarify that constructive criticism is always welcome on the forums; feedback is crucial to the development process and why we endeavor to read everything posted across all platforms. Whilst we can't respond to everything, we do see everything.
Dev bashing and other disrespectful behavior is wildly different and is what we do not tolerate. We welcome all discussions, even if players are expressing disappointment, as long as the conversation remains on topic and doesn't devolve into name calling or other negative behavior.
Of course, developer bashing doesn't belong in the forum. What developer wants to read something like that? I don't think anyone would want to. Anyway, I find this post here very interesting and I think it's good that it can be discussed
@Huge_Bush said:
Too lazy to read the OP so I’m just responding to the title.
BHVR is a business and as a business, they are entitled to make money off of their product. They have to pay their employees, bills (rent, maintenance, utilities, advertising, servers) and must make money to please shareholders(sucks, but that’s the economy of today’s world). There is nothing wrong with a company trying to make money as long as they don’t use unsavory tactics.
Anyways, there’s plenty of things in this game that they have done or provide for free after you purchase the base game. You don’t pay a monthly subscription and yet still have access to their servers. You can earn lots of free cosmetics (even if it takes a while and a lot are underwhelming, they’re still free), you can unlock plenty of characters even though you only need Claudette, they listen to feed back and rework killers all the time (most recently Twins, Skully Mommy, Sada-no, HillyBilly), they introduced mechanics to make the game less frustrating (base-kit BT, Removal of Hook Grabs, Anti-FACE Camp mechanic, Anti-3-gen mechanic, a nice HUD that greatly helps solo-Q -yes it helps a lot even with all the naysayers) and they still communicate with the community albeit less than they used to(don’t blame them, this community is insufferable).
So, you’re simply wrong.
I don't agree with him 100% either, but the author of the thread is not entirely wrong.
And of course it's the developers' job to make sure everything runs smoothly. After all, they want their game to remain successful
The only thing that bothers me personally is that at the moment we're just being inundated with skins and the quality of the game is falling by the wayside. There are thousands of great suggestions from streamers, forums, Reddit and co....., but unfortunately only a very small proportion of them are implemented. The developers go their own way. We simply have to accept that.

truely, it is unacceptable to release in this state.
I got a flashback to when I played ARK and Studio Wildcard ######### the bed with their catastrophic rollout of what was essentially a overhyped & overpromised paid UE5 update that ended up DOA. The lying, manipulating, and alienating their playerbase ontop of leaving many bugs still in the game that were supposed to be squashed to this day leaves a particular kind of stain on their brand's reputation.
I don't think that's the case here, but I'm still not impressed. Rubberbanding…just like the many of the other horror stories on the forums that would keep your average DBD enjoyer up at night.
Also, store is an improvement for sure. Still some clutter that can be fixed in the future. Like why does there need to be 2 seperate sections for cosmetics? I feel there is a better way to consolidate those options and have a dedicated tab or page that already does it with filters to reduce the amount of menu clutter to navigate.
The only thing that bothers me is that you show things in the store that shouldn't even be available, like Dwight's shirt (Bloodletting or Dev Shirt). Why is something like that shown if it's not available to everyone anyway? and why should I buy the survivor or killer packs just to get access to the two red charms? I have already bought them.... is a mystery to me...so much money just for 2 charms...no thanks

BHVR,
Seriously, you need to do something about survivors being able to take the game hostage by just hiding. It's too easy to avoid the killer, hide in lockers, switch lockers when the killer is checking one, or crouching around the map, moving to another part when they hear the terror radius. Something needs to be done so that killers aren't left wandering the map for 20 minutes trying to find the survivors. Why you haven't fixed this by now is beyond me, but now is the time.
Hiding from a killer is part of the game (especially for beginners) and always will be.
To blame survivors who hide is a terrible statement in my opinion

Because OP is probably running 4 Slowdowns or stuff like that and does not want people to see it when OP complains about what Survivors are bringing.
@Topic:
You lost a game. Get over it. Does this happen to you frequently? The answer will most likely be "No". In over 9300 hours of DBD I have encountered Builds like this (including the Perks, Items and a Map Offering) a handful of times. You will probably win most of your games anyway - but once you lose, you complain in this giant Killer Echo Chamber. Nice.
I will say this one last time. I am not complaining and have never complained. It's not about winning or losing, that's complete nonsense. There is a reason why my build is unrecognizable. I would also encourage you to read @ChaosWam response to my post, as you, like many others here, did not understand my post.

I kinda get what OP is saying.
It's not how the match ended, winning or losing isn't the problem, it's the stagnation of the meta. We're going to see the old meta rise back up slowly on both sides and already kinda are. There's not as much variety and matches are becoming increasingly similar in quality.
My matches, running off-meta, are either god tier looping survivors, obvious speed cheaters, or survivors who just give up immediately. There's no real tense chase, loops are mostly a joke with how densely packed they can be, and meta perks exasperate the issue when you finally win chase and someone rushes in with something like FTP+BU or BGP+Flashbang, meanwhile slugging or tunneling is also a bad idea because of the picture OP posted. Really only the highest tier killers can get away with it for obvious reasons, but for players like me who enjoy some of the kits of the low tier killers you hit a point where every match plays out the same because of the meta. Winning or losing feels the same at that point.
Thank you, you are the only one who has understood this article.

Well, I've been on the Forums for five years, so there's that.
Likewise, you aren't the first person to accuse me of being a no-life Survivor main.
Fun fact: I play almost exclusively Killer. When I played, I took it as far as I could and dabbled briefly in competitive DBD. Ultimately, I've backed off the game and Forums because I don't like the direction they are going. The game is out of ideas, the role I prefer has lost any real challenge and I see no indication of change.
I'm surprised you only play killers. So if I just went off on you for some of your comments, I apologize. Now back to the topic at hand. Yes, DBD needs change. I've said that many times. If it were up to me, one less chapter. (3 a year would be perfect) and more quality of life changes instead. I don't like this "us vs them" either. By the way, I play both sides 50-50. There are sooo many good ideas from some people. Unfortunately, not so many of them are implemented. What we need is not just new items in the store or new chapters.... What DBD needs is Quality of Life. Bug fixes and the cheater problem first and foremost.
I know that this is of course a small indicator of where things are heading. All good
-
These statistics are only a small part and quite inaccurate as a large proportion of players do not use this website at all. I would be careful with this

Its actually NOT the 0K to 4K play itself. I mean yes - there is no other perk in the game where you can watch 3 or 4 people stand at the exit gate for 60 seconds, all knowing they will die and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it. That is the most exhilarating feeling in DBD.
But that happens - at most - once every 8 or 10 games. Blood Warden offers a killer something no other perk in the game does, something far more valuable - hope until the very end.
If you are at end game, there are four people left,, the gate 99ed, you KNOW that - absent a truly monumental screwup - you are getting a 0K or a 1K. And unless the person you have hooked is very far from a gate, probably a 0K. The game is over, you are just managing your depression until the inevitable defeat.
With Blood Warden, you are never out of the game. There is ALWAYS a chance something interesting could happen. You could get that 4K. You could at least have a fun game of chopping people at the gate, carrying them, watching them get rescued as you go to the next survivor at the gate, and vice versa. Every game - until Blood Warden is gone - offers possibility.
I've played this game since 2018, and never once - in the last 5 years - have I ever taken Blood Warden out of a single build. It is hope incarnate - run it.
Is this a bait? I mean, look at your headline. BW is definitely not the best perk in the game. This perk just has too much counterplay and can be countered 99% of the time (Exitgate, which has been around for years, is boring and annoying) .... the likelihood of anything interesting happening is so low that it's not worth grabbing this perk anymore. Unless it gets reworked.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fNTfc2_NvQ&t=1s
Sorry, I forgot to add this. The reactions on the net speak for themselves. This is by far the worst midchapter update ever.
Once again to DS:
You don't have to be a developer to realize that these are seriously negative changes. DS is being used just as aggressively as it was before the flashy actions were introduced. This is going to be bad. New meta ? DS + OTR ( hello Plot Twist ?, maybe ).The whole thing at best x4. There is a reason why I said there will be less killers in the future. Time will tell, but we'll talk again when the time comes.

He's still likely top of A-tier, which is fine.
It's incredibly disappointing that we waited four years for Twins changes and they've essentially boiled down to some minor number changes.
DS will still not be great, but it'll be better.
UW got super nerfed. Finally.
An A-tier killer? Sorry but i have to disappoint you. Without his tech, which was never intentional and had nothing to do with skill, he will become a B-tier killer. Time will tell for sure.
As far as the Twins are concerned, I can only agree. Too bad, I would have expected more
DS has never been great and never will be. It's a terribly designed perk. Imagine this after the patch: In almost every game a combination of DS, DH or DS, OTR .... it's going to be a terrible meta, I promise you that. It was like that then and it will be like that again.
I was never interested in UW because I play with Calm Spirit. So I don't care about this change
and the only thing that worked at the PTB was the store. It's always the same when it comes to all the skin stuff. I'd like to see one less chapter, but more quality of life improvements

@IHSGames said:
I hear all the time when players are frustrated at DBD. They usually go, oh you feeling frustrated? Take a break. Play a different game. See here is the issue.
Telling people to take a break for starters, doesnt fix the issue of why youre frustrated. When you come back after your break, sure you might feel a bit better but those issues will come back. If you have to " take a break" from a game that is MEANT to be fun, then its the game thats terrible meaning taking a break can never fix that. Is like breaking up with your toxic ex and getting back with them after a month to expect something different.
I also think "taking a break" invalidates the players' frustation, making how they feel, feel meaningless. For example, if I'm tired of getting tunneled every game or getting a map that heavily favors survivor, telling folks to "take a break" make every reasonable frustraion feel meaningless. The 2 things I meantioned are things that the devs need to fix in order to make the game more bearable. I shouldn't have to "take a break" from a game because Im frustrated with a flaw that the game has.
I think DBD needs more frustrated players. DBD devs have been doing quite literally anything these past few patches and they don't contribute to the game such as the Twins Rework, Huntress Buff, and quite literally every map rework. They been making some questionable balance changes. And if players are taking a break, who is going to tell the devs about the issue thats causing them to be frustrated? Eventually, frustrated players who take constant breaks will leave the game entirely, which leads us back to the title and the beginning of this post.
I understand your contribution very well, but it makes little sense to blame the developers for every mistake. That's too simple. It's up to the players themselves, and everyone interprets things differently. In short, it doesn't matter what the developers do. There will always be someone who has something to complain about.

"NOED easily carries bad killers to higher MMR" ?@weareweebs said:
Not an exaggeration but the amount of awful killers who can't even get 1 hook carried by NOED is immense, sometimes in the end game can't counter it because of RNG aka the totem will either spawn next to a hook or gate. I have never failed an assumption about a killer running noed because everytime I see an awful killer bad enough that there is no way he is matched with survivors in my matches, they always have noed.
I will never fail to advocate that the perk should be removed from the game because it is very unhealthy. I personally have no problem with most one hit perks, but NOED is the only perk I have problems with.
I've seen killers AFK until the gates are activated, and securing 1-2 kills, sometimes a 4K.
Not only that but it gives you extra speed which is overkill, making it almost impossible to outrun a guy with NOED to escape through the exit gates. One of the main issues as well that it doesn't tell you it's activated until a survivor gets hit, whilst other hex perks does. I've experienced this perk using nurse, afk hide behind a gate, and you can secure 2-3 kills guaranteed without working for it.Sry but, that's a terrible statement and doesn't help anyone…..
If Noed is active, then it's probably largely the survivors' fault for not paying enough attention to the totems.
Now, one could argue that in some fights, the survivors are unable to clear totems due to the pressure the killer exerts. This may be true in some cases, but if the generators are the main target, you shouldn't complain if one or two totems are left at the end, provided the survivors have only focused on the generators.
That killers who play with Noed are supposed to be bad is just a lame excuse.
Sometimes there are good matches for a killer and sometimes bad matches for him. This depends on various factors such as the map, the respective killer, etc. and is completely normal.
In principle, it doesn't matter whether the murderer killed someone with Noed or not. That's a fact: the only reason why some players complain about Noed is that they have become victims of this perk and feel unfairly treated.
It's always the same.... and who cares about the high MMR? You can't buy anything with it and you can't see your number anyway and that's a good thing.

Well its like I told you at the very beginning of my comment I'm not gonna tell you how to play your game you do your own thing as far as that goes, you should definitely consider taking time to get better at looping so stealth isn't the only upside you have though is one piece of advice, I never said it was your fault they get caught but if you're not actively helping progess the game by doing gens I could understand why they're mad
I understand your point of view very well. I only play solo. I always help and always do gens. Only when I realize that nothing is working anymore do I choose the "safety first" option. Whatever the cost.
Unfortunately, the stealth game is no longer so popular these days.

I'm not telling you how to play your game, but stealth is rarely good anymore just due to the sheer amount of perks there are that can detect you, if you're hiding too much you will continue to have this problem because people would rather sandbag you and not have anyone at all there than someone who is just hiding waiting for the other survivors to either all die or do all the work for them, and I question how much you hide when you say this is happening alot , if you're one of those people who don't do anything but hide I don't blame them, have you ever thought maybe you're ruining their game also by hiding alot instead of helping? If you don't care about their fun why should they care about yours?
Have I already emphasized that I play a special build that compensates for my weaknesses in the game? (im bad at looping e.g) I think so... Although I'm a lone wolf, I like to help and of course make generators. Normal or ? Whether stealth play is good or not. It doesn't matter and is in the eye of the beholder. But the most important thing for me is: safety first. So if I realize that the game isn't going well, I play it safe and that's the ONLY RIGHT WAY TO PLAY -for me-. I'm not someone who constantly sacrifices himself for his teammates. I want to survive, whatever the cost !
but did you ever think that some survivors could also ruin my game by playing full risk instead of trying to survive?
-Helloooo killer hunt me-
I always have fun. But it can't be that I'm the one who has to suffer just because some players are so frustrated because they failed. If the killer catches others, it's their fault, not mine.

I had a streamer and his SWF as my team mates and even though I am an aggressive player I happened to be running Distortion in my build. One was being chased and I got into the locker on the loop with Head On and Flashbang (my fav combo) to help in chase but instead he sandbagged me by opening the locker so both of us died.
I asked why he did it post game and I got a pile of abuse as his dead team mates told him I was running Distortion, as if these people think they have the right to dictate to others what they run or not. I have 4k hours in DBD and I love chases so it isn't like I was hiding all game either.
I am pretty much exclusively a solo queue player (I love the chaos) and these days if I load into a lobby that is obviously a SWF, I will dodge that lobby. As they often will completely throw the game for altruism, they will attempt to bully the 'random' (me) with sandbagging etc and if they have flashlights you just know they will be chasing the killer around all game trying to get saves.
As a solo I recommend lobby dodging SWF's

Be honest, how many of you turned off the red portraits because it looked weird having the survivors or killers portraits that released after the change never having that background. What if they could add them as a reward for p100. Its not as complicated as a skin and it wouldn't cause as much "Fomo" as they would put it.
To those who want to gatekeep it because you earned it as legacy. Don't you think the hours you put in for something no one else but you can see be somewhat equivalent to the person who gets a character to p100. Be honest with yourself, its no legacy skin.
I have already written something about this in one of my other articles. Nobody is forcing you to bring a character to p100. You do it voluntarily. Why should there be an extra reward for that? Not everyone has that much time and I don't want to be forced to do something just because I want something specific.

Now that Adrenaline is being gutted I've recently been seeing lots of killer mains on Reddit complaining about WoT. It's also the most used perk in the game we know that the devs have a history of nerfing perks based on their usage rate. They could nerf it in a way to make it disabled when injured.
I wouldn't worry about that. I 100% expect the perk to be toned down in the future. I think a little CD would do him a lot of good to balance him out a bit better and not always make him the first choice right away

I think the lobby dodging is just a mood. When I load in and there are three P100's and a P79 in my lobby, sometimes i'm just not in the mood..I just want a chill match.
At the same time, someone kind of hit the nail on the head when saying it didn't really matter.. a lot of P100's play low prestige characters…so you don't really know..you can only really judge by how they play. Though P100 is indictive of someone who put a lot of time into the game.
On the flipside, I have a p100 Jane..most of the time I cannot play her without being tunneled now because of the p100 and ttv in my name. So i've actually taken a character I love and made her unplayable. I'm not an amazing survivor. Above average..I am a killer main who really liked Jane and put a lot of BP's I earned playing killer into making her a P100. So I think people tend to forget that the P100 isn't everything when judging it.
I mean, there are also a lot of players out there who identify with some characters, but yeah, it's a shame when you invest so much time into a character to get him/her to p100, only to realize that you don't play him/her that much later after all

I think P100 skins would be dope though. It gives you something to grind. And survivors would know if a killer is P100 when they see them in game instead of at the end of the game. I really like the P3-9 bloody skins too but they are just so common there’s no point to using them really. I bought the HoY Huntress skin and haven’t take it off once in over a year so who knows if a P100 skin could ever change that lol.
p100 skins would be great of course, but wouldn't many players feel forced to grind like I do?

and I always assumed that luck also played a role in other factors. I was wrong in my thinking. Thanks for the answer and yes, luck has been forgotten, that's true

Luck is purely the % chance you have to escape the hook without a perk like Deliverance (Adam) or Wicked (Sable). It is an outdated mechanic that also used to apply to Trapper where you had a % chance to escape a bear trap. This has since been revised to be a limited RNG to a max of 6, where you are guaranteed an escape. It doesn't affect items, hatch, anything else. Hatch can only be influenced with 1 of the 2 hatch offerings, spawning in or behind Killer Shack or in or around the Main Building. Luck likely was intended to be a more fleshed out mechanic that got removed from half of it's uses and somewhat forgotten.
Thanks for the answer, now I understand

I kinda wish I had at least one P100 character. I got a bad habit of spreading all my BP so P34 for me is the highest I have.
That's not a bad habit. I distribute the blood points in exactly the same way :)

Please change the killer meta. Pop and pain res are in just about literally every killer build and it’s so boring atp. I don’t see these perks as a problem on their own but they get paired together and just over reward killers. I don’t wanna play survivor anymore because almost every match everything done is just about for nothing because of this and survivor is so boring as a whole it’s to the point where I don’t want to play survivor unless it’s in a customs with friends
Please change the survivor meta. The generators are flying around my ears and I'm so bored with all the adrenaline junkies..... it's basically the same thing.
These debates unfortunately lead to nothing......

To killers that hate exit gate spamming.
Isn't it annoying when the survivor does that? It's toxic and you feel like your time is just being wasted. Rest assured, I agree, it's really lousy behavior.
Agreed? Good?
Now that that is settled maybe consider not slugging to bleedout once in a while. Making me wait out the entire bleedout timer while you hump me on the ground is literally the same thing.
Something to consider.
Alternatively, you can consider that both sides have problems to deal with, and making false equivalences and sparking more us vs them debate rather than appreciating that time wasting without easy exit is frustrating regardless of what mode you queued up for.
Think about it idk.
I can only agree with that
