I play solo queue. Let's see what I should do to make sure I have a fun game:
- Run a perk to see my teammates, so that I don't run chase to them and know who is rotating for hook in odd instances where gen HUD can't help me with that.
- Run kinship so I don't get proxy camped.
- Run anti-tunnel so killers don't tunnel me.
- Run shoulder the burden to help a teammate getting tunneled.
- Run unbreakable so I don't get slugged.
- Run a perk to pick up teammates faster so they don't get slugged.
- Run reassurance so my teammates don't get camped.
what else should we add to the list? I shouldn't have to run any perk to avoid getting bled out on the floor for 4 minutes.
Seriously, if someone has a problem with being on the floor for 4 minutes, why are they even playing? ( Don't say anything about time, you're playing a computer game and everyone who plays a computer game has time) It's part of the game.
"Seriously, if someone has a problem with waiting at your monitor for 120 minutes, why are they even playing? It's part of the game."
this would have been you several years earlier when hatch standoff was a thing, your take is just as insane now. The entire argument is that 4 minutes of nothing is not something that should exist in the game. It serves no functional purpose when the killer chooses to bleed you out solely to waste your time. It is not a good part of the game, you cannot argue that it is.
"""It serves no functional purpose when the killer chooses to bleed you out solely to waste your time."""'
You die and the killer is happy. Its simple because sluggin is Part of the Game.
"""It is not a good part of the game, you cannot argue that it is."""
Of course, it's not a good part of the game, but like it or not. You will have to accept it (as we all do at the moment).
There are only 4 perk slots and you won't be able to cover everything, and that's a good thing. Incidentally, this applies not only to killers, but also to survivors.
Come to terms with it

It is a comparison of fun. Killers do not enjoy being blinded or stunned the entire game. Survivors do not enjoy being on the ground the entire game. They are both unpleasant experiences that make the player question why they queued up to play. Hopefully that clears it up for you.
I would almost agree, except that in DBD, your opponent often dictates how much fun you have. As a Killer, if you play into a big time "bully" team, you probably aren't going to have fun. As a Survivor, if you play against a Knockout slugging Billy, probably not gonna have a good time.
People will always play to win, because winning is usually fun in DBD, but losing is almost always unpleasant due to the snowball nature of the game. There is rarely a close loss and more often than not, a blowout.
I have no idea what the last point means. There is an ebb and flow to gameplay, that's what makes the game competitive. There is fun in a challenge, else people probably wouldn't play Soulsborne games. There is enjoyment to be found in overcoming adversity.
I have to agree with you. Who likes to lose? Nobody does. I'm just saying that anti-perks have a right to exist and deserve to be used.

I've never taken anti-tunnel perks. It's not worth wasting a perk slot for 19 straight matches to avoid a potential tunnel on the 20th.
Tunneling/Slugging are a lot less common than they are made out to be, at least in my region/server.
I think a big issue is people don't play many matches a day. If you play 3 and you get tunneled in one it's going to feel like it happens all the time. Especially if you get unlucky and catch a few days in a row like that. When in reality if you're playing 10-20 matches a day you realize it's not happening that often.
thats right and a very good point

There were quite a bit of questions about slugging and when it is fine or not to do. I’m guessing they are trying to do something about it because there is going to be a large influx of new players with FNAF similar to Resident evil and want them to stay since dbd player count isn’t rising to much. Good on behavior for trying to do something about the most boring aspect of the game. What do you guys think about the survey
the most boring aspect of the game?
Camping, tunneling, sluggin. These are all mechanics that can be frustrating for the survivors, BUT THEY ARE PART OF THE GAME and should remain an integral part of the game. In my opinion, the devs have interfered far too much in the actions of the killers in recent years. What else are the killers allowed to do? The survivors complain about every little thing.

You were the one who brought up blessings as a comparison when you said:
This is not about whether the benefits are strong or weak. Have you not seen what happened to the blessings in the beginning? Have you learned nothing? That's right, you know everything better again. That makes no sense
As things stand, the effects of weaving spiders and treacherous crows would not be OP put together, even on a 60 second invocation, because of the broken downside. As things stand, they would be fine combined. As for what the killer can do when an invocation is cast, go to the basement, you now have a survivor who broadcast their position to you and can not be healed for the rest of the game.
If new invocations complicate things further, they can make it so stacking invocations makes the ritual take longer. But right now, I don't see any reasonable argument for why the current two invocation perks shouldn't be able to be cast at the same time.

Yes, and why do you think boons are allowed to be multicast and no others have been changed? Because combined they are still not a problem. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make here.
You can't compare blessings with invocations.
"You can snuff Boons, you can destroy Hexes, but the Killer can do nothing once an Invocation is cast. Because that's the point of Invocations"
"It's about the whole package. You're comparing apples with bananas.

Would it really be OP though? Permanent broken for the rest of the trial, 60 seconds in basement + killer notified on completion, and 2 perk slots in return for a BNP on every gen and situational aura read doesn't seem OP to me.
You have to think further. Much further. These will not be the only Invocation Perks. More are guaranteed to come. Imagine 4 Invocation Perks all activated at once. Those are powerful effects for all survivors, and for the price of just one Broken effect and 60s (if you do it solo). That would be way too powerful. Not to mention SWF in combination with that.

Why Do Survivors Play So Sweaty? A Rant.@Equinox_One said:
Trying to play chill during the event this afternoon. Silly themed builds, mostly playing for snowman jumpscares and laughs. As long as survivors are mannered and at least trying to interact with the event I'm happy to let everyone get some BP/tome challenges done and I'll maybe kill 1-2 to pip and let the rest go.
Game 1: Bubba. 3 fun survivors, one insanely BM Ace (why is it always an Ace?). Teabags after every pallet drop. Gets cocky so I happily tunnel him out and let the remaining 3 go. Get asked why I tunneled in postgame, I laugh and say that he was BM. Get 'oh come on bruh its not that deep stop being so serious its the internet'. I facepalm and move on.
Game 2: Shoe Hag. Fun game, 2 hook everyone, kill one to pip, let rest go. Great banter in postgame.
Game 3: SM Myers. Incredibly stacked 3man SWF and a good Nancy. I'm running a meme build. 4 hooks. Get teabagged from gate until I finally chase everyone out.
Game 4: Ghostface. Maybe SWF or maybe just a really strong team. Yet again, 4 hooks all game, 3 of which I got by trading in endgame. Teabags and GGEZ in postgame.
Game 5: Ghostface. Claudette kills self on hook on first down. I just wipe everyone and go next, not wasting my time. Felt a bit bad.
Game 6: Trapper. Crazy 4man SWF. One player with almost 15000 hours. Didn't get a single hook. Teabagging from exit gate, letting me down but then just endlessly body blocking, flashlights and sabo, would NOT leave. Finally endgame collapse kills them all. Clearly a SWF trying to keep MMR low.
Game 7: Nemmy. Full SWF. Get lucky with an early down then a second hook and T2 at 5 gens because they tried to sabo and messed it up. They then proceeded to hide around the map, avoiding AFK crows. Postgame 'tryhard killer.
Game 8: Billy. Playing around with Weave, Franklins, Insidious and Primer Bulb (stops instadowns from saw). Not SWF but strong and serious group, 1 hook all game. I finally get a second hook in basement, endgame. Rest just leaves.
Now annoyed, I throw on Grim, PR, DMS and Disc (my go to 'serious' build), fire up Artist and end up winning 3 games easily, back to back. Get asked why killers are playing so sweaty. When I respond that I'm tired of losing to people who don't want to meme around (and getting BM'd for my trouble), am told that I'm oversensitive and 'killer need a sense of humor'.
I give up and go play survivor.
Ugh.

Now I'm even playing without that totem and people are still disconnecting. I wonder what excuse people will come up with next time. Oh Hexbuilds OP ?! this is getting ridiculous. Hopping in to provide a little context on this, the team has been closely monitoring The Houndmaster's performance and determined that Knotted Rope posed a potential balancing risk when paired with certain perks and addons. They're currently re-evaluating this addon and plan to revisit it in 2025, but ultimately wanted to ensure that heading into the holidays, the risk of an over-tuned combo was minimized.
We know larger balancing changes like this can be frustrating, but we appreciate your patience as at the end of the day, we want to ensure there's a solid balance between having fun as the Killer and playing against the Killer."They're currently re-evaluating this addon and plan to revisit it in 2025, but ultimately wanted to ensure that heading into the holidays, the risk of an over-tuned combo was minimized."
And that's why you have to destroy it completely instead of reducing it further first, right? What's the point? I've always said that developers tend to destroy things completely. Good. Why should a single totem take half the time of a literal generator? Also progress isn't saved on totems like it is for generators if you stop interacting. Meaning if, for whatever reason, a survivor stops interacting with a totem, all that progress is gone.
If Doctor is running TOTH, they can just do their big aoe static which always prevent you from cleansing a totem, let alone blessing. And speaking of blessing, other users have recorded how long that takes, its like 92 or 93 seconds to bless a single totem with TOTH around. When solo invocations are more time efficient than booning a totem, that is a massive screw up on the developer's part.
Calm down, the nerf is coming. I can't wait to see what's coming next. It'll probably be about Genregress, camping and tunneling again.

The problem is, in this topic you are not JUST telling us about a horrible build, you are ALSO defending a busted killer perk, while RECOMMENDING your horrible build as a supposed counter to it - all of that, while telling other survivors to "stop whining" and encouraging them to throw the game for hatch.

If your idea of having fun is having all odds against you and losing, then yeah, go and have fun. I am not advocating for winning or losing. I want to have a chance at winning. The reason i play dbd is for the loops, the jukes, the slapping, the nodding, the corner techs, the moonwalking and for good plays. I love that dbd used to be really goofy. But, if i dont even have the chance or even almost no chance at winning and killer has all the advantage with unbeatable strategies, then yeah, i think it is unfair and I dont enjoy it. Do you know how i know you are not a survivor main? Because if you were a survivor, you wouldnt be defending this perk. This perk is unbalanced and people running it are sweat lords. Nobody wants to play survivor to cleanse a totem for 46 seconds or longer. The killer gets haste, instant down and might have advantages from other totems. Now, if you were a survivor main, you would want to loop more and do other stuff than just cleanse totems. You CANT be a survivor main if you wish to do totems.
I'm not trying to defend anything here. I'm expressing facts and the truth and something else
“I'm not in favor of winning or losing. I want to have a chance to win.”
That is so contradictory. That's when I stopped reading…. Be that as it may. The nerf is coming. But that won't stop me from playing and testing crazy builds, and if you don't believe me that I'm Survivormain, that's your problem, not mine.

Counter Force and Inner Strength are a powerful combination and save a lot of time.
Still takes more time than just healing with a medkit (let alone if we compare with syringe).
Hardened benefits from Counter Force and Plunderers.
3 perks just to counter screaming perks in the 10% eventuality that the killer has one. Meanwhile you have no exhaustion perk which would trigger 100% of the time.
A perk like Sprint Burst alone saves more time than all the perks you equipped.
Plunderer's gives you a chance to find a key if the round goes horribly
The round will go horribly because you spend all game doing totems and chests instead of gens, just to setup perks which don't even have good effects. By the time they activate you have effectively thrown the game for your team, but then you escape through hatch, and then you come to the forum explaining why survivors need to get better, lol. At least now it makes sense why you don't need exhaustion.
right. It's more fun to sit at a gen for 90 seconds or play copied metabuilds. Play your thing. I do mine and have fun doing it. That's all that matters to me, ok? greetings

@Saiph said:
Pack a map with reach add-ons and use Counterforce, Inner Strength, Hardened and Plunderers Instinct and you'll have a very great time and fun playing the game
It's unfortunate you couldn't find a way to replace Inner Strength with No Mither somehow, because then that would be the worst build I've ever seen recommended on this forum
Counter Force and Inner Strength are a powerful combination and save a lot of time. Hardened benefits from Counter Force and Plunderers. It also works against Face The Darkness and other perks that make you scream, and Plununderers additionally gives you a chance to find a key if the round goes horribly due to the increased chance of better items.
I can deal with that. It's my own combo and nothing copied. I enjoy experimenting with it. I'm not interested in the rest.

You clearly dont play solo Q. I am a survivor main and I play solo Q. This buff is overtuned. We all know solo Q is chaos and most people running Hex builds at the moment are also running TOTH and Devour Hope. You only need 3 hooks, which are really easy to get to get instant down. I never play killer. I have almost 3 k hours and maybe 300 hours in killer. I decided to test this and i have been getting only 4 ks. On doctor, on blight, on legion, on trapper. Now, you might say I am not getting good survs because i have low mmr as killer. This could be true, but if i am so bad at killer and i am getting people on my "mmr", why do i keep getting 4 k? The game isnt balanced to be like that. To make matters worse, there wasnt a single match where survs finished all 5 gens.
i am a survivor main …… 🙄 The difference is simply that I'm not interested in winning and losing. (nobody cares about the MMR because you can't see it anyway) I just have fun (unlike many others)

Sounds like a classical Winter Chapter for DBD. The Winter Chapters have been rough historically. The only time new content was not bugged was with Chucky last year - when many Bugs of already existing content were present.
IMO the Winter Chapter is always the sign that the Devs should go down to 3 Chapters each year. The content bloat is not really helpful if the quality falls off. And IMO Doomed Course is way below the other three Chapters released in 2024. Lets just compare All Things Wicked and Doomed Course and you see a MASSIVE difference in original content. And if we look for Year 9 of BHVR, the two licensed Chapters released are way above the original chapter when it comes to quality.
I just think the signs are clear that we should not have 4 Chapters anymore (especially when you consider that we also get Paragraphs nowadays…).
Yeah, rather 3 chapters a year (one every 4 months) and more quality of life changes, perk and balance adjustments, much less bugs and so on than 4 chapters and a bunch of frustration. I think BHVR earns enough with the store already.

Hex perks are meant to be high risk-high reward perks, while only ~10% of them are strong, while Thrill buff is a terrible bandaid to the bigger problem which are hex spawns.
Even if you completely remove Thrill from the game, most survivors will complain because they don't like clearing totems. They want to do gens in peace and that will never change.
Of course, other factors also play a role. For example, being prevented from clearing, having a bad start and much more but, even if this is a terrible argument, a large proportion of survivors simply don't want to make totems and are too lazy.
-
@NarkoTri1er said:
i really need to be honest, problem with hexes are their spawns. Buffing Thrill in such a dirty way in order to force longer cleansing is not the way to fix this problem, it's just a bandaid that will rather make perks like Pentimento even more oppressive and infuriating to deal with
What do you mean by dirty method? HexPerks have to be strong, otherwise it's not worth the effort.
-
@EleaticStranger said:
This is the right way to think about it. Most perks are almost useless and are therefore almost never used. Now there's a reason for survivors to diversify their builds to deal with guarded hex totems. Behind these complaints, I suspect, is the desire to run a metabuild without consequences.
Don't forget that the survivors also have map Items with certain offers to track down totems. This saves additional time
-

To be fair, survivors are a team. They have 16 perk slots to counter all the bad tactics. While the killer has only 4 perk slots against survivors. Whose fault is it that some survivors want to be greedy and prefer selfish builds?
Thinking in the spirit. Better him than me. I don't want to take responsibility.
I always remembered the line from the movie SAW 6.
The one who should live and the one who will live. These are two completely different questions in the face of death. You always want to, but do nothing to survive.
Survivors have many tools to counter the killer, which they do not want to use.
"Survivors have many tools to counter the killer, which they do not want to use"

No risk? Just stop it. Thrill can be removed from the match permanently within the first couple minutes of the game and then the killer is down a perk slot for the rest of the match.

I might be jumping the gun a bit here, but this perk seems like it's s almost on par with original Undying. If the killer has any sort of detection or mobility power, you CANNOT cleanse hexes. SWF may be able to coordinate synchronised cleansing, but this buff hurts solo players IMMENSELY.
Why do single players always get dragged into every little thing? This is so ridiculous. How about this one?: Remove everything directly and put the murderer in a corner..... Honestly, the only reason you wrote this post is because you're frustrated about it, otherwise you wouldn't write things like that last sentence. What do you expect? The answer is simple. If you have a hidden MMR of 2000 and so does your opponent, then you will meet. There are differences. The duration of the game doesn't matter. It only reflects experience.

I know. I'm having a lovely extended break.
Oh no, they extended the event for a short time...I'll still play a bit more civilization 🤣

I don't see how, the novelty wore off in one week the first time around.
Notice also how almost all of the people saying they like it here all have a history of seeming more Survivor sided, or to be more of Survivor mains. No surprise there - when you make the game overtuned for one side, of course that side likes it more. But the game suffers for it.
will finally be over soon

This mode is DOA. It was not fun past the first couple days last time. It is not fun this time. Surv side is overbuffed. Killer side is undertuned to busted depending. Does not feel good to wait 20 minutes for an 8 minute match.
I think I genuinely enjoyed Lights Out 2.0 and Chaos Shuffle 2.0 more than this. Just drop this mode, it will never be good and it actively makes the rest of the game less enjoyable due to bad queue times.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, there are some who prefer this mode. That is a pity

this is the problem with killers. They don’t play the WHOLE OTHER SIDE of the game and will NEVER UNDERSTAND how the other side even works or struggles with. And no you can’t complain. Because there’s ANOTHER. ROLE.
I play 50:50 and have been doing so for a very long time. So stop saying such nonsense. 1vs4 is affected by Q time, which is bad, and I don't like 2v8, end of discussion

no thanks

No, I haven't played at all today. I don't usually log in till late in the evening(its 5:10pm now). That said I most likely wont log in today since I been hearing killer queues are already bad XD
yes, the Qs are terrible again. I haven't even played yet. I just watch a few streams, that's it. 😔

im having alot of fun! Survivor is alot more better now then the first iteration!
2v8 round 2 is actually a lot better this time around for survivors able to get pallet and flash saves and the insane class ults is a comeback dream Medic ive gotten a 6 man heal, Guide you can pop an entire gen in seconds, Scout rebuilding strong pallets is a life saver!
Survivors i think is on the right path to being a better experience in 2v8 and were escaping alot more then before cant wait to see the stats!
As long as the gens fly and the survivors escape, it's always fun. But if it doesn't work.... oh dear, then there's a lot of moaning
