Interesting. If I remember correctly, last time 2vs8 was out, my queue times for the normal 1vs4 mode on killer were still pretty quick and normal.

    That can't be.

What i can get tunneled at 5 gens and then humped for 4 minutes oh great. Seriously I'm getting so sick of this game and if the devs think I'm buying ######### DLC and outfits they can think again!

WHAT kind of question is that? I only read complaints here. That doesn't make it any better

    Mad? Why?

I'm trying to understand the issue.

used to drag out chases unnecessarily

I'm pretty sure the survivor keeping being alive finds it necessary.

I understand it can be frustrating for the killer but it's only an indication of key points. It doesn't change the mind games available to both parties. (And please don't imagine for one second I'm pro-survivor. I play both roles.)

used as an excuse for many things

Like what? What could possibly require any kind of excuse? Especially for soloQ that needs all the help it can get?

If a perk allows a survivor to suck less without being overpowered (it only helps to route) it's all good.

The impression I get, without being sure, is that you think it makes survivors stronger loopers than they would be without the perk *. And you would be right. However it's not the "wrong kind" of stronger so it's not enough to warrant a nerf.

It's not broken like OoO, Dead Hard, DS, Made for This and so many other perks have been in the past.

*) Yes I've read all about the memorisation argument. On the killer side I'm a Nurse main. I know all maps in 3D literally with my eyes closed. That's a must for a Nurse. I don't believe it is so for anybody else.

a nurse never has problems with WoO. Shes the best Killer ingame

  • @drsoontm said:

WOO is not a problem at all.

It helps beginners, sure. So what?

I know for a fact one of the best survivor players out there (zubatlel, won the US vs EU 1vs1) is using it.

That's the whole spectrum of survivors right there.

I'm not using it myself (I still have the genetics of a Blendette) and I don't have any issue with it from the killer's side.

    Leave it alone.

leave it alone ? excuse me but,

I respect your opinion, no problem, but whether you like it or not, WoO is used to drag out chases unnecessarily and therefore hurts... and SoloQ is just used as an excuse for many things. That's my opinion, don't be mad.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

genetic limit exhaust the survivor. window of opportunity is not exhaustion perk. it is aura perk… only affected by blindness. In every single game, new players and lesser experience player always make up for at least 60% of player-base, if not more.

You are absolutely right. I got something mixed up. I am of course talking about “Hexed Third Seal” and similar perks.

And for those who think WoO is good. No problem, you'll be the first to scream when something is changed.

Literally its always the same analogy

“I cant go 20 seconds without a gen popping”

Ive actually had to watch painstockingly gameplay on how they played and i will quickly jot down key points

-they get mad at 1st gen popping

-cant seem to get much value from power/perks

    -to many pallets

To explain this, firstly expect the first generator to be repaired fast, the start of game is the strongest point for surviviors, it’s expected it will pop early. If you arent using a supressive killer expect it to be popped or something of equal value.

“”Cant get much value from power/perks”, if your power is skill based like spirit, practice it. If it is more reliant on surviviors input like trapper, casually pressure them towards that area, this can be accomplished by hooking in the region or chasing towards it.

“To many pallets”- this is the only way surviviors can fight against you, you do not have to break every pallet, and you arent required to chase anyone at any pallet. If its not worth it dont do it. Try to chase surviviors near other surviviors objectives to multitask. And the most basic rule is if a survivior juices you once, dont chase them again, it may seem impossible to kill them until you realize they have no protection against hook trades and having half their team dead

EDIT: Before the killer mains mention swfs, what happened to the game being balanced around the average player? And make sure to mention the official escape rate of swfs bhvr documented, will be very interesting

Why do killers think this game is survivior sided?

Thats an easy one. Cause its a 4vs1 and balance will never be happen

When Hit and run was strong, survivors had an issue with that, and all mangled addons were nerfed, as was sloppy butcher

Now I'm seeing survivors all saying that aura reading is too strong and that needs to be nerfed.

I must ask, how do survivors want killers to play? What is your preferred style of game play with a killer? What perks and add ons are on the OK list?

I'm aware that killers have demanded nerfs too (the only three in my opinion that were justified and needed were Ds, DH, and MFT.) I'm not mad or trying to bait. I'd just love survivors mains to express what is their preferred style of gameplay against killers.

Survivors want to rush Gens in peace. Possibly loot chests or make totems (this is only a small part, the majority is too lazy for this) and best of all the killer should stand in the corner and wait until the exit gates are open. Then the killer should come to the exit gate so the survivors can teabag the killer and then write EZ GG in the endgame chat. Yes, I think that's how the survivors want it.

About less than a week ago (♪week ago♪), I was playing as Meg on a Badham map. In the second floor of its main house, there's an empty closet opposite the Gen. While hiding, Chucky sniffed me out trying to ninja the generator and slugged me there. Understandable— I play just as much Killer and get just as upset at sneaky survivor rats poking my gens before sprint bursting away.

What I DON'T understand is why he came back into the closet and, instead of picking up and hooking Meg, proceeded to roleplay "taking advantage of her." I dunno what words BHVR's decided to filter, but just think of the grossest thing and go with that. Backpedaling and holding forward repeatedly. Needless to say, I didn't do much afterwards besides quit DbD for the day.

Fast forward to today. I'm playing Yoichi on Midwich against another Chuck. After a grueling 11 minute game, it's finally down to a Quentin and I to try and wrap up 2 gens. I did my damnedest up until Chuck slugged Quentin CLEAR across the map and left him to look for me, just so I couldn't Hatch out of the match.

I mention Yoichi because I'm using Empathic Connection, so Quentin can see me across the map since he's injured. I also recognize what Chucky is trying to do here, fight the urge to quit and do my best to have fun with it. I hide in basement, emote to Quentin to crawl to me while Chuck wastes time searching and I pick him back up so we can have another go at it.

No luck. Chuck finds Quentin again while I'm on a gen, slugs him while I'm clear across the map a second time and proceeds to deny Quentin his right to leave the game with his well-earned BP. At this point I simply throw up my hands, sprint to the center of Midwich's courtyard and force notifications until he finds me.

His response after I call him out on "forcing a 4k" instead of "earning" it post-game? Something to the effect of "I got a 4k tho." At the same time, I was being lambasted by a Cheryl for "jerking around" instead of "playing the game."

I took a couple of breaks from the game after Nemesis and RPD were released. Best thing that ever happened in a multiplayer game I enjoy. Now? I'm wondering if licensed characters/killers are even worth the baggage they bring.

Bonus round: Which Killers attracted the most toxic individuals before Chuck? In hindsight, I find this psychological phenomena fascinating. It makes me wonder what types of people watched Child's Play growing up.

EDIT: I apologize if this should've been labeled discussion instead of question. These events incited my first time using the forums.

I don't think it has anything to do with immaturity or anything like that. It's more to do with Chucky's voice, and it's great. Nice and evil and venomous, and it's just fun to play with him.

"you should improve your looping skills instead"

That's a lame excuse, and many people use it. In truth, they want us to work on our looping. But I don't want to, because I'm bad at looping and I don't want to be forced to by the developers.

It’s not about one side being better. Survivors are strongest during early game (no resources used) while killers become stronger as the game goes on and are strongest in late game (when survivor resources are depleted). This is common knowledge and has been DBD’s formula forever.

If you make survivors weak when they’re at their strongest (early game), and make killers strong throughout the game what do you think happens to survivor? They’re now weaker during early game, through mid game (because you made them weaker during early game), and into late game. What happens next?

I understand your point and agree with it, but it's not about making survivors weak at the start of a game. Then I wouldn't have any motivation to play survivors myself. Rather, it's about developing something that directly prevents survivors from stubbornly sitting on a gene. Even if that's the main goal at the moment. That could be, for example, gas cans that you have to find first to start the generators or something else. New incentives, you know what I mean? Something new. The main thing is that the games aren't over after 5 minutes.

  • @Ayodam said:

if they modify early game to be stronger for killers, what do they do for survivors as they are weaker during late game? Or are you asking that killers have a strong early game, mid game, and late game… in which case I’d ask where is the incentive to play survivor..?

I prefer a sensible EC system to the current one. That's all I'm trying to say with this post. It's not about whether Killer or Survivor is better. I play both 50-50, I just want there to be something that creates new incentives.

  • @SlugKil1er78 said:

I made an account to bring up something not enough players are talking about. The goal of the game is too have fun, but most survivors aren't 4 stacks, its like 1 in 100 games. Why are the devs balancing the game around it, at first I was happy because of the ridiculous power of bully squads and some of the broken survivor perks but its just gone off the deep end. I'm a killer main and winning is too easy now, literally like every game I get like 3k or 4k.

Solutions have been proposed but the devs seem to ignore or not know? I think a fair balance would be to add in game comms, you can nerf every survivor perk and item in the game, but if you're balancing the game around SWF 4 stacks then just let everyone be a 4 stack essentially. It would shut everyone up on both sides, yeah there are strong killer perks but if they all have comms it would make it challenging for killers again and make it fair for survivors because comms dont guarantee victory. If even one person was giving call outs it would make the game way crazier. There would be toxic people but just ban them if they get enough reports or disable their mic.

There is also the idea of giving killers 5 perks but only 1 in each category, that was also an interesting proposal.

    What do you guys think?

this is a 4vs1 and Balance will never be happen

  • Oh a little reminder: Reshade/Nvidia were never OFFICIALLY supported by DBD. They were always “use at your own risk”.
But EAC officially supports DBD by saying you will not be banned and it also shows DBD in the installation.
So people should stop listening to the fake news of some streamers all the time and go to the official EAC channel.

It's totally normal to have the generic versions, but the artifact version could only be obtained through a code.

Who says what is intended or not? You? Why do you get to decide what is "intended"? I don't remember lack of Woo causing issues in Chaos Shuffle, and Lights Out was just Killer sided in every, way you can't pin that on Windows. The fact is the 60% kill rate targets now are largely being met with Windows as the most popular perk so if they nerf it and Kill rates increase then Survivors will have to be buffed in a different way and then Killer mains will whine about that. A perk combo that allows mapwide Wallhacks and makes every item useless and essentially has no counterplay in many situations is broken. Windows is not.

In principle, it doesn't matter whether you are for or against the WoO. Fact is: If the developers don't change "Windows of Oppertunity", it will stay at the top forever and this will not be happend. I don't think this is in anyone's best interest, especially in terms of future perks.

Why would you need to change a perk that works well, doesnt cause any gameplay issues and isnt OP? Just changing the meta is the worst possible concept of balance. We already had that and it got way worse than before.

This advantage causes a lot of problems. As a survivor, you don't even have to bother running from window to window or pallet to pallet.

I am asking you a question and I would expect an answer. That a Perk is the most used does not mean that it is problematic.

And well, calling it an "autopilot" Perk would mean that the Survivor would be on Autopilot, but I dont see why good Survivors would need to be on autopilot.

and that is my answer. You know very well that WoO in its current form is too strong and are trying to play it down.

Admittedly I have not played the 1v4 in over 2 years. But from my recollection I found the 2v8 way more fun as compared to what was the 1v4, at the time when I would play it at least. From both roles I personally prefer the 2v8.

Thank you for your opinion. I prefer 1vs4 because the lobby times have hindered me a lot. Also, I can't use perks in 2vs8 and that keeps me from investing more money to buy chapters in the future. Why should I invest more when I can't use any of it anyway in a game mode that feels like an arcade?

Yes, I don't need to play 2vs8, I know that, but I don't fancy long waits in the lobby or bots as opponents or teammates

  • Why are you asking me such a question? you know full well that WoO is by far the most used survival aid and enough good survivors use it just to drag out chases.

  • @VantablackPharaoh91 said:

The problem with that is that it would mean not everyone who wants randomness would be on the same field. It's not fun to randomize a loadout and then run into a sweaty SWF/Killer with full meta.

Can't agree. Windows is a perk that closes the skill gap between mediocre survivors and good survivors. It doesn't enhance performance at the high end, it just cuts out map memorization. It's a training wheels perk, just a particularly effective one.

it is nerf for add-on only if a single person is injured. it is buffed in every other instance. The total amount of time it takes to get nightfall passively is 192 seconds, 106.6 seconds, 73.84 or 56.48. do keep in mind that Dredge does receive some minor nightfall points for hitting a survivor, hooking a survivor and staying in a locker however those point are very inconsequential compare to passive nightfall build up of keeping survivors injured.

    Thank you ❤️

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3776880#Comment_3776880

that is not how it works. Old Malthinker used to increase nightfall build-up by a flat value of 66%. the default nightfall build is 0.25 and you gain 0.75 per injury. You need 1 injure to activate Malthinker skull.

this is total 1.0 charges. Malthinker skull just add 66% increased nightfall flat when one survivor was injured. so 1.0x0.66 = 1.66.

New Malthinker does something completely different. The new one increases the total passive nightfall build-up by 25% for each injured survivor.

    1.25+0.312 = 1.562 → 192 seconds

    2.25+0.562 = 2.8125 → 106.6 seconds

    3.25+0.8125 = 4.0625 → 73.84 seconds

    4.25+1.0625 = 5.3125 → 56.47 seconds

Apart from 1 injury which has reduced charges of 0.10 charges per second, every other instance of new Malthinker skull is superior.

First of all, thanks for the calculation, but what does this mean now? Is this a nerf or a buff for the add-on?

The loss of progress issue was terribly unfortunate and even moreso that we were (and are) unable to gift back any lost Legacy items. The issue of the lost progress has been resolved and no longer occurs due to the way systems have changed over the years. But yes, we've acknowledged how much of a disappointment that it is that we cannot gift those items back. Bloodpoint compensation was the only compensation that we could offer.

If Prestige Rewards do happen in the future, they will not be Legacy - there would be other plans for those rewards.
