  • I've actually never had trouble finding gens on the map. They're in really predictable places and never move too far which is normally the issue.

1- on the balcony in the main lab area - by the stairs or on the centre of the balcony.

2- if you come out of the lab area, go left last the 'raised steps vault' thing there is normally one in the corner or nearby.

3- one at the far end of this same hall. It never seems to move.

4 - one in the cupboard upstairs that only one person can work on that never seems to move.

5- in the far right hand side hallway (if your back is the main lab area) there is one either close to the lab, in the middle of the hallway or at the very far end. If it's not in those places it's normally in one of the little rooms closeby (normally the furthest from the lab).

That's just Off the top of my head. The problem with Hawkins, as with RPD, is that there is not enough variety so killers know where to go. There are also too many long halls to be seen in and small warrens of rooms that are easy to run through and still be seen during a chase.

I read in a thread the other day killers hate Hawkins and I'm honestly surprised. The vast majority of matches on there the killer can kill at least two survivors easy.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need to get rid of the exit area it would cut out a lot of toxic play as survivors wouldn't be able to stand a safe distance from the killer to grief them

How does one even get to purple or red rank. I'm a pretty consistent player: I do gens, I do rescue, I search chests and cleanse totems etc. But my rank never goes below about 11..

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever why you responded to my comment with a completely unrelated rant, bar 1 sentence at the end about a social team (and even that I'm not sure has any major relevance). There are plenty of other threads you can comment on that would make more sense to put this to.

I was actually responding to your first paragraph which I now realise I entirely misread lol. Some how I thought you meant BHVR dont have empathy and are more concerned with their other troubles than to fix stuff like this. Sorry about that confusion!

What a self-centered take. It's our job to kill you, not play patty cake. You have a horde of anti tunnel and altruistic perks already, excuse me if I want the most powerful one to have a bit of counterplay

You cannot have this attitude and then want survivors to fascilitate you by 'playing nice' too. If youre a killer who is in the game to sacrifice everyone then you cannot be surprised when survivors band together to do everything in their power to survive.

The problem is you never know which type of killer you are getting. Is it someone who want to play to win or someone who wants to play to have fun dance around the objectives a bit. Different people seem to have different expectations around what we should all be doing and it's confusing a lot of the time due to no communication on the console end.

  • We can nerf BT as long as Ruin gets nerfed as well. I would say lately 80% of killers have it. There seems to be a lot of complaining about survivors using certain perks or loadouts and conveniently forgetting killers have similar issues.

I guess it's not that they don't have empathy, but moreover they don't care about the other since they're drowning in their own troubles, so choose to be blind to it. Their fears take over others. It's wrong and there is no excuse, but understanding why people do it at least reveals them to be human (if somewhat flawed and ugly).

Also, the internet is too easily used to hide behind an anonymous profile. Someone online with a gamertag like "Bigdick6969" is most likely going to be someone with not nearly as much confidence as their name suggests. People say things they'd never say face-to-face because they can hide behind it with virtually no repercussions (although if the act is deemed criminal, then cyber teams, white hat hackers and police have ways of cyphoning them out). It's their supposed safe space, where they can be who they want to and puke out their venom.

Covid has been especially destructive to those, like yourself, who have been forced into a more isolated existence. With not much else to go on, it can feel like they are the only points to validate yourself with. There are articles you can read about which relate to this about "conditions of worth". It may help you understand yourself more, how to take action and give you more assurance that you aren't what they say.

To those guys, you're actually just a slate they are imposing the bits about themselves they don't like on, but only in their heads. You don't need those stickers; you can be how you wish. Just give yourself some belief and avoid those who can't deal with their own fears in an adult and practical way.

Perhaps they should spend more time fixing things that are currently wrong rather than chasing the next chapter then?

The Resident Evil chapter was an absolute farce. The RPD was deactivated in general play for the entirety of it. I literally only started getting the RPD consistently in general rotation about two days before they got rid of the RE menu screen and intro etc. Since the inclusion of that map there have been numerous issues with other maps too that have been disabled that never seem to have needed to be before such as The Game of Dead Dawg Saloon.

Despite that they're now pushing another chapter out. They need to slow down and improve the content they have before adding more. Telltale proved constantly pushing for more content can have detrimental effects.

The game has been out long enough now. It's unacceptable that BHVR doesn't have a team specifically for the social side of the game.

Oh well i'm underage to drink so i dont really know anything about alcohol

It wasn't funny anyway. Don't trouble yourself.

  • I'd love a mode where there are no gens. The match is timed but breaking hex totems reduce the timer. Killers can repair hex totems to extend the time back to what was taken but no one knows where they are and there are no perks to show them on the map for either side. They relocate when broken/restored.

If you make it to the end of the timer the gates open automatically and you can try to escape.

    Hooks work as normal.

Chests have items that can stun the killer but no health items. Only other survivors can heal you but it wastes time when you could be collecting points.

How do you collect points? Points pillars, like the ones that were seen for the 5th anniversary that gave you the golden glow, will appear and disappear randomly in the match and you can claim them to increase you BP level. Different colour pillars give different BP amounts..

If the timer gets to a certain point and you are below a certain number of BP you will be revealed to the killer for 'x' seconds.

There are three sets of doors on each map. They do not all open at the same time and close at undetermined intervals. If you choose to stay when you can leave to farm points you better hope you don't miss your chance.

    Who will survive?

  • No performance issues but it's a rotter of a map. They should bin it and see if they can give us some Raccoon City Streets maps instead.

  • I think you'll get a lot of opposition from killers to make Ruin weaker, personally. I don't see it being a popular suggestion.

It feels like every killer is using Ruin at the moment though so I do see why people are calling for it to be changed.

  • Sorry I must have misunderstood you. I don't mind Ruin as it is. Yes it's oppressive but it's meant to be to give you the incentive to find and cleanse the totem.

I just think adding something else into the mix could be potentially dangerous for enjoyment. If you have ruin and a more powerful kick then two kicks and ruin could regress a gen to next to nothing in no time and it would annoy people.

Perhaps it could be a balance? People have a more powerful kick if they don't have ruin? This would mean that even if the cleanse is done killers aren't left without anything..

  • We need to remember the game needs to be balanced. Ruin already works quickly so I don't think it needs a buff as it just gets less fair the more survivors you lose. Kicking could potentially be buffed but not to 200%.

I think gens already take some time if youre alone or even near the end of he match. Last night I had a match against Demogorgon on Pre School and no joke three of us spent about 20 minutes trying to do the last gen, one on, one off, because he just kept portaling between the 2/3 gens that were left and it became a chore. Both for the survivors as we had to do a bit then run off and hide but probably for him too as he had to just cycle and repeatedly block gens. If the game goes too much towards slower gens you will end up with too much of that and people will just stop playing or DC when certain killers who are too fast are in a match.

Perhaps gens could be modified in a different way i.e the more survivors are working on one the more skill checks you have to do. This means more chance of explosions and giving away the position. Or more gens where only 1/2 people max can do them. There should never be gens where all 4 survivors can work on it imo.

  • It depends on what stage of the match you are on and the situation is i.e whether survivors are playing sensibly and killers fairly.

If all three other survivors get downed early on I will try and heal or unhook providing it's safe to do so - there is no point in me rushing in and getting downed too and give the killer an easy score. If it's not possible and the killer camps so I would not be able to do it, as it seems to be killers like Hillbilly who have instadowns that do it, I wait out the hatch.

If all three get basement hooked I'm waiting out the hatch, sorry. Again, the killer is clearly playing dirty so I have no issue doing the same.

If a killer is on a downing spree but refusing to hook for a long time so no one has a fair chance and ive been hooked twice but someone is still off the hook/up and about/escaped I will sacrifice myself to give them a chance. Killers don't like it... But then I don't like it when killers down multiple people. If Ive been downed and then they run off and down three others I try to get to somewhere where they cannot find my body and wait out the death. It might be petty but it makes me feel better they didn't get the hook. It's all underhand but normally in that situation for me it's the killer that started it so deserves a taste o their own medicine. On the whole, your allegiance is to your fellow survivors.

If it just looks like it might be going south early on but with no underhand play I try to carry on as normal because it can always turn around. I don't understand people who DC as soon as they get hooked or downed. I've had matches like that where I've been unhooked after my second hook and managed to do three gens and escape. It's all about trying to play consistently and fairly as well as making sure you try to stay alert and stealthy.

On the whole I like to play as long as possible and as fairly as possible. Sometimes you can wait so long for a match I don't want it over in 5 mins by either side.

  • I don't know what it is about the map but it's just not pleasant to play. I think it's the OTT mixture of long winding corridors and warrens of interweaving rooms it just makes evading or spotting the killer too hard. By the time you see them they're on you and there is nowhere to go. Plus, there isn't enough variation in the gen locations so it's really easy for killers to plan for that.

I am surprised to hear killers don't like the map as to me if feels very killer orientated. I think they should have gone with the city streets... Which ironically were what they used to advertise the chapter.

  • It's not worth it. It tells the killer where you are and half the time they're a nightmare to find. Even active totems don't get cleansed half the time for the same reason.

I'm all for the creation of some secondary objectives but they need to be meaningful. E.g. having to find parts before generators can be repaired or sections of wire to patch cut cords coming to gens, finding the handle for the exit gates etc

  • There was definitely a massive increase in multiple DCs when they removed the penalty during the RE launch event. I do think it's needed but I would like BHVR to try as distinguish between physical disconnects and connection issues.

I lost connection three times the other night and had to wait for a long time to rejoin. If the game knows enough to tell you that you have lost connection or that there has been an error, which you don't get when you physically DC, then it should be capable of knowing not to block you if you're sent those messages.

  • Could they do it so that it's works in line with how many survivors there are? For example if there are 3/4 survivors then the killer can use tinkerer as much as they want but when there are only 1/2 it's only possible to use it once per gen? If it's already activated before it won't activate now.

This makes it fairer on both sides. Killer still gets lots of chances earlier in the match but relying on it has consequences down the line. Having tinkerer combined with Ruin, which I find more annoying but I guess I understand why it's there, feels very unfair for 2 or sole survivors. I literally just watched a video where a guy downed someone and went straight for the gen to down the person working on it for an easy win. It doesn't seem fair as it's punishment for simply doing objectives.

  • Yeah blight matches are not good. He's just way too fast - I don't think I've ever escaped from a match with him. Fortunately I don't get him that often.

  • I was thinking about how to word it and that just seemed the best lol.

Perhaps it is down to inexperience and not knowing what things look like from a killer POV. That could explain not waiting until the killer has had enough time to move away because they may not realise the killer gets a notification when you unhook.

But I'm still at a loss as to why you'd do it right in front of them

  • I don't blame you. It's annoying for both sides. I consider myself quite a patient survivor so it's really annoying seeing three people rushing to unhook straight away and who inevitably get downed. Worst case scenario is they get downed and basement hooked and no offence but I ain't coming for you in that scenario!

  • Camping is actually a pretty poor technique for winning if you have a team of survivors who know what you are doing and are willing to sacrifice the fourth member (which you might as well do anyway as you just end up getting into a cycle of unhooking and not doing any gens).

You can get plenty of gens done in the time it takes for one survivor to die on the hook from first hook. Or if one survivor is good at evading the killer.

On a match a few days ago I was getting tunneled but had decent team mates who would flashlight or heal. By the time I'd been twice hooked the others had done the remaining four gens. I escaped using the hatch, cause I had a key, and the other three escaped.

So despite using underhand tactics the killer gained nothing anyway. The funny thing is he was good at knocking people down. But his insistence on chasing me was his downfall could have hooked the others at least three times.

Camping or proxy camping only works if other survivors come to rescue each other and unless the hooked survivor has 'Kindred' equipped, which is a rare one these days, generally about two do end up going for the unhook cause you cannot see what other people are doing you have to, at some point, hedge your bets and go for it. This means that people are actively participating and not just pinging gens so the logic there is flawed too imo.

  • I once had a match on Azarov's resting place where very early into the game I got someone off a hook then quickly got downed and hooked myself. Despite unhooking someone no one came for me. I even had the kindred perk on so all other survivors could see I was hooked, see killer was nowhere near me and what each other were doing and still no one came. One guy even was repairing a gen right on front of me (and when I say right in front I mean it: the hook was just left of the little lodge, the gen way by a hill in front of the lodge! I was honestly flabbergasted. Clearly the killer was too as they messaged me afterwards to say how they couldn't believe that no one came to even try and that they had tried extra hard to make sure they all died to avenge me. I know survivors are supposed to have solidarity with other survivors, but we had a great killer-survivor bond lol.

I've just played three matches and yes all survivors quite close on each one.

I don't think she needs a nerf but more of a rework. Try playing against Pig on RPD and it's just not fun, it's impossible to search all the boxes in time if RNG is against you. I feel like her power needs a rework so it's less RNG but more deadly. So you can't just sit on a gen when it's deactivated

This was my thoughts. Plus on smaller maps it can be hard as the speedy nature in which you need to get to the traps makes it easy for the killer to get to you. I just feel there needs to be more consistency which is why I suggested either knowing which box you need to go to, which is only like using the cleanse stations for Plague or Alarms for Freddy etc. People seem to think she is a really bad killer but as someone who has gone against her often as a survivor she feels very oppressive. I'd rather go against wraith than her.

  • Thanks for the explanation. It's something that's been bugging me but I don't know enough about the killer side of things to say for certain if it was a mechanic or glitch.

I suggest running bond if you play survivor for your next few games. You might appear alone but the other 3 will be within 24 meters of you. Last night 10 survivor games no shrouds played and with bond I spawned next to a teammate every game, spawned all 4 together around 80% of the games.

I do remember a year or 2 back they addressed the issue because some survivors were spawning within LOS of the killer which is understandably not acceptable.

To be fair Ive not paid attention to how close we could be. I've just always noticed we are not immediately together like when shroud offerings are given.

Could this not be done in response to gen rushing though? I've noticed if you spawn together in pairs you tend to stay together to do the first gen you find. I know two survivors do gens quicker but it's still less gens being done so quickly as if 4 survivors spawn separately you will have 4 gens being done all at once.

It's not a bug per say. It's a game mechanic flaw when injured, Survivors don't breath but instead moan grunts of pain and since Iron Will neglects the moan while injured they're completely silent instead. Been like this since the game launched

Surely moaning is more audible then breathing and more useful to the killer anyway?

  • Out of the last handful of matches I've played most of them I've spawned alone. Im not sure what could lead to such a drastically different experience.

I do agree if this is an issue though it should be fixed.

  • Is looping essentially where you run round the edge of the map? I'm new to the community so still getting to know the terms here.

I think a better compromise, if we trully need a buff (Nemesis killers have been quite capable in my experience), would be infinite cures, like Plague, but you have to be cured to leave the map.

  • I'm glad the map is going not gonna lie. I hate it. Too small and cramped. I'm not a fan of indoor maps in general, with the exception of the Meat Packing plant, but The lab and Lerys are particularly annoying. I see a lot of people who openly hate the map so maybe they think it's not worth it.

  • What does being infected by Nemesis even do? As a survivor getting hit by his tentacle and being infected often seems pointless. Most of the time you don't even need to use the vaccine to complete the objectives and escape.

  • Well given the posts here people seem to have a better understanding of it than me so I guess I'll concede she doesn't need a nerf on the traps.

  • Plus, I tire of killers who DC when the match gets to 4 gens too quickly or if it looks like too many people are going to survive.

That's happening increasingly (at least once per day) but doesn't get mentioned.

  • Only if we reduce the BP reward for:

    Tunnelling

Camping (especially for stealth killers for whom its completely cheap)

Knocking down multiple people in one go and just leaving them there as an easy way to end the match quickly.

These are all things that lead to DCs and are poor killer form. Both sides are guilty of it.

  • The gates aren't normally hard to find. If we are making changes to them I would say it should be that they never have a clean line of sight across the map to allow the final survivor a bit more of a chance to open them if the hatch is shut. But that's all I'd really change.

  • @TerrorUnleashed said:

This is a post I hope is only ephemerally irritating. Nerf Pig? Pig is amongst the weakest Killers in the game; she's 100% RNG-based, luck dependent, and her power is only good in SELECT situations. More often than not, you'll be relying on being stealthy and unleashing your ambushes, trying to cycle through hooks, as opposed to affixing a trap to a Survivor's head. The fact that you are complaining about every aspect of her, and the fact that you're especially sooky about the tremendously flawed elements of her kit, says a lot about you. It means you've never played her. Worse yet; you've never seen gameplay of her. Or, enough to compensate for your shallow opinions.

Thing is, Pig, just like many other Killers -- we'll scratch Trickster out of this for now, because I'm just plain sick of hearing all those complaints -- is in a horrible place right now.

I complained about one aspect. One. I said the rest was fine and was suggesting one tweak out of a suggested list to make her more bearable because when I play against her, which I have many times, these are the common things I notice. Kindly get off your high horse and stop being so sanctimonious.

  • Doing the gens is the entire point if the game. If survivors are hurt, so only take one more hit to get downed, and are still popping the gens maybe you need to revise your play style rather than ask for changes to the game. Maybe try one of the killers that has instant knockdown like the hillbilly?

I VERY rarely play killer, normally only when I consistently don't get survivor matches for a long time, and I win more matches than I lose (by which I mean I can sacrifice at least one survivor to the entity).

  • Survive with friends doesn't feel true to the nature of the game imo. Playing with friends to get a quicker party form, sure. That's helpful on days when match making is slow but as a survivor you're mean to be reacting in the moment: quickly and quietly to avoid detection. Being able to set up chat parties etc. Doesn't seem right and I main survivors.

  • I would argue it is holding the game hostage as you are deliberately denying normal play. Just because the game will end, it doesn't change that.

Killers get pissed when the EGT is going on but players do no leave and class that as holding the game hostage. This isn't any different to me.

  • I've found maps where 1 survivor DCs with 3/4 gens left to do very doable really.

Honestly the only change I would make overall to how the game is balanced is to have the wait for the doors to open be reduced or changed to skill checks for the final survivor in a challenge to give a fair chance to escape. I've noticed that many killers will go out their way to find the hatch before killing S3 now and when the hatch is down killers can get from one side of a map to the other way quicker than it takes to open the doors to give a lone survivor a chance. Thats even if the gates are ate opposite points if the map which they often arent. I had a map yesterday where you could see the other gates from the ones you were stood at.

Either that or make it so the killer never has a clear line of sight to the gates. Half the time they can see you truing to open them from miles away and then it's game over.

  • @maaadinsomniac said:

how tf is possible to corner yourself like this?😅

Someone tried to hide and the killer found them? It's not that hard to see how it happened.

Personally I wouldn't mind the changes suggested above but I don't feel like it happens enough to be a noteworthy problem. In the years I've been playing I've had this happen to me once in the cabin of the small boat which has a gen on it one the Pale Rose map.

A far bigger issue ATM is killers downing multiple survivors and just leaving them. I think a recovery chance should be introduced if you've been downed and not hooked for a certain length of time.

  • Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels like they would benefit from it. I wonder how possible it is to do though.

  • I think the Wraith should have to remain immobile for a bit longer when cloaking and uncloaking. Far too often he can appear and attack with far too much speed to be enjoyable to go against.

Either that or reduce his cloaked movement speed - it feels more natural to remain slower when cloaked rather than faster to protect being 'stealthy'. Either one of those two things seems fair.

  • @Mandy said:

maybe give reasoning as to why you think gestures are a problem in DbD...

Because it's something that lets the survivors work against the killer and the common theme I've seen since arriving here is that's not allowed...

  • As an RE fan i cannot stand the RPD. It's big but too small at the same time. All the side areas are just small clusters of rooms which offer little in the way of actual good gameplay. Plus, the gens are not random enough either. This makes it way too predictable for both S and K when playing. It totally hasn't been worth the chaos it's caused..

  • How do you know the 3rd survivor delibertely DCd to let the fourth survivor win? The entire premise for this argument seems to hinge on that and I don't see how it's provable.

Still, as a survivor main I don't see why anyone DCs anyway. You don't get any BP and get increasingly locked out of match making. It just doesn't seem worth it to let another survivor who may or may not have found the hatch to survive. Especially if it's going to be the killer hook anyway. The problem isn't the hatch. The problem is people who seem ok with DC and that's not often the fourth survivors fault.

Also, let's not pretend the killers don't abuse the system either. The amount of killers who now down S3 and then go off to find the hatch before sacrificing them, then who go and stand on the hatch ready to close it before any survivor gets a chance to use it is quite high. That happens WAY more than survivors escaping in many matches in which I've been the last survivor. If we are going to nerf the hatch for the survivor it needs to be counter nerfed for the killer too.

  • I don't think slowing down gens is the answer. If you're doing a gen alone it's already borderline boring anyway.

I do like the idea of a secondary objective though. Friday the 13th led be to DBD and one thing I liked more about F13 was the variety. Perhaps they could increase the colours of gens so that green gens been their wires patching too and blue gens need a new part found somewhere on the map before you can repair it. This would change how the new part item works but I think it would make it more useful.

  • I'd get rid of the Pig. Absolutely cannot stand her. She is way too OP for me.

In terms of maps... I'd probably get rid of Midwich or Lerys. They're just too confined to have a decent and enjoyable playthough as a survivor. Plus Midwich being entirely 2 floors and so small means half the time you can always hear the terror radius which gets more tiresome than fun.

I never minded Hawkins though. I thought It was a good size.
