  • Given how abysmal BHVRs map choosing algorithm seems to be, where I endlessly get Pale Rose or Azaroths resting place, map offerings are a welcome addition for me.

  • I think the map is mostly fine. Visually and atmosphere wise it's great.

The upstairs of houses are useless though as every time I've been on the map no gens have spawned upstairs.

I also don't like that they got rid of the basement gen.

  • While we are on it, can we please have an option to disable the vomiting sound for Plague? It honestly makes me want to heave myself and I find her matches unplayable to the point of wanting to DC sometimes.

  • @Annso_x said:

There's nothing wrong about CI, you're not supposed to wait around for it to end to start playing the game... if you waste 2 minutes of your (and your team)'s time doing nothing I'm sorry but that's on you, not on the perk (or on the killer). Feel free to roam through chests and bless or break totems, but really you're just supposed to leave the blocked gens and find an other one, not hide for 120 seconds.

I know you're not... but that doesn't stop people. That's the point.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    Very overpowered.

Imagine losing the game thanks to a 3-Gen then this activates and the Killer loses all the pressure they had

Fair point. Maybe it could be tweaked then to only be usable early in the match - so up until 3 gens have been done or something. Or increase the amount of time spent on the hook in the terror radius etc.

I don't blame killers for camping late on in the match. I think that's fair, but i think we need an early match counter.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Seriously. You hate campers? Then STOP dying on the hook, you are giving them free kills up to 4K on the whole team just because your actions. Thanks.

He is going to get the 4K anyways because as soon as one is gone he will do the same to someone else. Then they tend to slug and leave people down as soon as the gens get to two to go. This is a weak argument for something that BHVR need to address.

Good job BHVR on literally killing one of the WORST killers ingame.

I knew it would be bad but I still gave him a try today. I can't mark ANYONE cause 9 out of 10 survivors run Spine Chill and start running the second the cat lights up. They literally expose me working on gens from sides where I can't even SEE the survivors. I can't mark people anymore mid-chase cause they can expose you while the survivors are behind stuff (rocks, walls etc.) and are literally LOS.

What the ######### where you guys THINKING when you made those changes?

I refuse to believe this many people are running Spine Chill. I very rarely ever see it in anyone's load out.

Yoichi is licenced, so he can't be made gay on BHVR's own standards, and before that is... Jonah. A war criminal with no sympathy and who doesn't appreciate just how ######### his actions are.

If Jonah was our gay rep I'd feel insulted.

I didn't realise Yoichi was licensed. But my point still stands. If you want gay characters then make them from the ground up. Don't retroactively change a character. Its not appropriate.

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

    Cool?

As a fellow gay person myself, here's the part where I don't really care. shrug lol

Ohhhh they retroactively made a character gay. Big POG. It took them YEARS to do that. But yes, let's give them all the praise in the world, for taking this long, do to something as important as representation, and half-assing it like normal.

As a gay man, this is my opinion too. Many other gay people will say I should be grateful for any representation and that I shouldn't be putting it down.

But, in the nicest and most respetfuk way possible way possible, to them I say: get better standards. Making a character, that they know the fanbase play cause he is 'hot', gay is not progressive, supportive or appropriate representation.

I'd you want a gay character, make one with their own backstory. They've literally just launched a new male survivor who could have been gay.

  • A perk to counter stealth killers... shouldn't counter stealth killers?

Same almost nobody using it anymore.

In SWF it has high value though

Maybe limit the amount of people who can use it at any one time to one survivor then?

That way it nerfs SWF but stays useful for solo?

  • As a survivor main, I barely even see CoH anymore. Its a novelty when it's there and even then it seems to get stamped out pretty quickly .

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Yes but a LOT of survivors would suddenly suck at looping.

I still sucked with it lol

  • I said this in another thread but the reason PH is disliked is not because he is OP but because he is too oppressive.

The box is the issue with this. Even SWF don't go for the box because it gives PH essentially a free down which is not a fair counter play. There is no way survivors can solve the box fairly unless PH is in chase and chooses not to follow you which is not a fair fight alone. Add to that it freezes you in place and teleports him to right in front of you. You can understand why people don't want to do it. Even experienced SWF teams I've watched on twitch as soloQ won't do the box, or if they can end up getting tunnelled or multi downed trying to stop their team mate getting downed.

The box needs adapting in some way so that it does not always offer this experience. This could be having set period of Time to solve the box which can happen at any time in the count down to the chain hunt. Or, having a set survivor, which changes periodically throughout the match, who needs to be the one to solve the box without the fear of PH being able to teleport to you at any given moment without restriction, as long as you succeed in getting 'great' skill checks. If you fail it he can teleport to you as usual. If you are not the designated survivor or do it out of the set time given he can teleport to you at will as he can now.

Killers can argue he is not OP or balanced as much as they want. But there is a consistent pattern, over a decent enough amount of time to prove something needs tweeking.

The change mentioned above gives everyone a fair chance and depends on survivor skill for not getting caught out.

They learned from this is the new chapter by offering the new killer a chance to teleport to you but ways of avoiding this by both doing the tapes and having the new type of skill check for completing the gens which rely on players being focused.

They need to now take that mentality back and apply it to PH.

  • Yes. I've run it got one match and thought it was pretty pointless

  • I've always thought this. Sometimes you spend longer waiting for a match than in it. Not fun when it happens really..

    Yep, same.

I have seen how difficult it gets once chainhunt started.

But i sometimes wonder how some players don´t know what chainhunt does or how this box thing works.

The problem is a lot of people do know how the box works and that's exactly why they don't go for it. Especially if they're not good at looping which more people are not good at than are; it essentially gives Pinhead a free down and doesn't, for many, have a good counter play. Using this as an example as to why survivors aren't ready for a secondary objective isn't really a just argument for that reason.

A fairer test for judgement would be to change Pinhead so that there is a rotating 'designated box cracker' which changes person each time a box spawns and that person can solve the box without allowing Pinhead to teleport to them as long as they don't miss the great skill check. Other could Still solve the box as they can now but Pinhead can teleport if he wants to if it's not the designated survivor. Then if People still aren't doing it you have a definitive answer.

  • That's the point: with this play style I wouldn't get use out of it. I'd be injured and one hit would sent me back down. The likelihood of me getting up, getting to someone and healing enough to salvage anything is quite remote possibly. I just feel there could be a better way than forcing a preemptive perk. I get others don't feel it's as much of an issue. Maybe it's an Xbox playerbase thing. I don't know but it's been ruining experiences for a few days now.

  • At first I was inclined to agree but as it's progressed I do not. Killers are planning this style. They're tunneling one survivor, hooking them, camping then slugging both the unhooker and the unhookee. Not to mention there running BBQ/Tinkerer/No Way Out consistently to add a layer of control on top of it. I've even tried avoiding playing altruistically and doing gens but by the time you get to one gen left it's pretty much just me and one other person so either way it's not going to go well. I go to heal, I get slugged. I stay on the gen - I get found, chased and slugged.

Were it the odd match I wouldn't even be phased by it. It happens. But it's the fact that it's happening for the vast majority of matches I'm playing at the moment. I play on series X and Solo Q . I'm gold grade at the moment nearly irridescant so I wouldn't consider myself a particularly bad survivor. I try to play fairly and respectfully of both survivors and killers so I don't want to waste a perk spot by bringing in Unbreakable et al.

I don't know what i expect to happen to fix it (well l, I do - nothing). But it's just, imo, getting a bit out of control. I appreciate killers find it hard sometimes but that's why I stopped running boons and perks like Kindred/Deliverance etc. I appreciate killers don't know that and others aren't doing it too, obvously but this style of play cannot be enjoyable for these killers? Especially considering there are some pretty good ones out there even when there are boons etc on the map and still come out well.

  • I find the point of boon totems was go add a secondary goal so one or more players have to take breaks from doing gens to find and activate the totems.

Ive found this is my first thing to do in a match now and sometimes it can take a while. Matches are taking longer which is good. Having more totems would pretty much make that redundant.

I think a better system would be to remove the ability to destroy the totems (why survivors still do it to dull totems when they have a Mikaela on the team baffles me) but killers should be able to to re hex a totem just like survivors can rebless them.

This should make Ruin a more worthwhile perk for killers, would be fairer across the board and increase the secondary objective count.

  • Ah ok. I must have misunderstood.

  • @Rogue11 said:

I get stuck on those weird rubble entrances as survivor too.

I would gladly trade one of the main building god pallets for making the greenhouse area not a complete dead zone.

There is a window vault to outside

  • With most totems being close to gens this would just ruin matches for killers. The only way it would work would to make it a one time only type of thing. Not renewable.

Or, make the stakes much higher so it HAS to be a great skill check, the type you get when installing a new part, or you lose 25%

  • I've encountered a lot of killers like this who don't start playing till 2/3 gens are done as sort of a hard mode.

  • I don't mind blight. I dislike the Doctor more personally.

  • Imo and as a Mikaela main i think circle of healing should be a passive thing for anyone who has not lit the totem. I.E survivors can go into the totem zone but 'Mikaela' has to be there to heal. If multiple survivors are in the zone 'Mikaela' can heal them all at the same time at a slower rate.

This way it would limit the amount of times survivors can heal in the totem zone and it would need a 'Mikaela' to go with them having potential multiple survivors in the one spot being easier for the killer to see and disturb.

It's Mikaela's perk so it should need her to be the crux of it.

  • Boons provide a really good secondary objective for the survivors to counter the endless 'gens are getting popped' complaints many killers have. As a Mikaela player I seem to have moved into a support role where my first main objective is to find and bless a boon for other survivors to use. Then, find other totems to potentially use later.

This means for a time only 3 survivors are doing gens and unhooking but it also puts me at a disadvantage as if the other three get hooked it may leave me with more gens to do than if I had just started immediately. It's really a gamble and I have noticed a definitive slow down of gen rushes and matches lasting longer.

I've also noticed that not many Mikaela characters run boons and so it's not being overused to overwhelm the killer in.the matches I've played since the day after the boons were launched. They're a good addition and should exist.

  • No one should be able to see anyone's totems. The whole point is to have a discreet advantage. It's meant to work like that.

The Hex totems should work the same for killers and survivors. They need to be blessed or hexed manually and this can be done unlimited times. Killers should be able to hex blessed totems quicker than survivors can bless hex totems.

Now that totems can be blessed no one should be able to destroy them. Cleansing /snuffing should just turn the totem back into a dull totem.

I don't understand why survivors break bones when there is a Mikaela on the map. It's stupid.

  • I thought the whole point of the boon filter and sound was to act as something of a hindrance to make it more fair to the killer.

Id prefer they play an audio cue when the killer snuffs the totem out.

  • I don't think perks should be buffed on the premise that most people don't use it well. That's just something the player needs to practise.

  • I think they could just stick with the blue floating particles in the area.

I think it's meant to also be a bit of a hindrance though.

  • @Wolfganguntoten said:

Seriously this boon business is broken. I'm beyond annoyed and am now just tunneling every michaela I see until they nerf that ######### to show my frustration. Maybe tunneling michaela will catch and people will stop playing her? .....burn the witch!

You do realise it's not just Michaela that has the boons by now? I saw a Jake with them yesterday... hours after the patch went live. Plus I was on a match with three other Michaelas that didnt use them. Tunnelling them is pointless and will just let other survivors do gens while you chase them.

  • @Munqaxus said:

Killers flipping out over boons as if they are the end of the Killer race.

Survivors hardly even playing them the 2nd day they are out.

    ---

Somewhere there is a serious disconnect.

To be fair, yes I'm seeing a marked decrease today.

  • I was very surprised by a few things about the boons: one that that were teachable. Which I don't think they should have been. The update only came out yesterday and on my third match I already saw a non-Michaela character using them.

Secondly I was surprised that you can use two boons at the same time. I thought you should have only been able to equip one. Either the health one or the cloak one at a time. I think you should be able to use up two perk slots but have to choose which one you're going to bless.

Thirdly I was very surprised that you could rebless the totems. I think you should only be able to bless them once but the killer has to destroy them all together rather than snuff them out and risk losing their own chance at a hex. Either that or allow killers to rehex them.

It does feel too OP at the moment.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

Good idea, with one fatal flaw:

All forced voicechat would do is open the game up to more toxicity while taking away a lot of accessibility (which the game already has little off)

    So. No.

I deliberately avoid voice chat for this reason. Being forced to use it would ruin the game for me. So for that reason, I'm out.

I'd rather they limit the number of people that can play SWF to 2.

  • I'm all for adding a secondary objective for survivors. I've said this before but reworking the environments to have more things to interact with other than the chests would be good. Repurpose things like the new part and the gloves so that a gen needs a new part to be found in the map and inserted before we are able to repair it, find a length of wire to patch a cable before the power from the generator can be counted as complete, have the exit door handle missing and someone has to find it in anticipation for the end game, etc.

This would feel like a natural evolution of what is already happening.

  • This the opposite to what I'm experiencing

Every day I'm getting at least two killer DCs

Most matches killers tunnel and or camp.

Killers knocking 2/3 people down and leaving them downed.

Most are using the perk where you can see survivors for 4 seconds after hooking.

Ruin is now pretty much base kit for how many killers have it.

  • It's not really the killer's fault. Theyre there to kill you after all.

I always thought the gen count should reduce by 1 if someone DCs.

  • When BHVR can tell the difference between a network drop and a disconnect I'll agree but until then no.

I don't see why killers complain about this. It counts as a kill for you and It's more annoying as survivor because you now have to do everything with only three of you when it wasn't needed.

Also, the recent influx of killers DCing as soon as the match starts is getting rediculous too. But it's just the way it is.

  • I had a match earlier today where a survivor when downed speed crawled along the map. It was Haddonfield and we are talking moving from the main road to behind the houses in about 3/4 seconds.

  • Probably not coming back as it would overlap with the prestige costumes. The blood spatters actually help camouflage survivors in certain environs so actually hinder the killer.

  • @miketheratguy said:

Has this been proven? That the grade system is based on how much you play and nothing else? I haven't heard that before.

Not proven but it supports my experience where my level was at bronze when I logged in with a few days gap between each session.

  • The killer knowing you can see their local area and know all survivors can see each other may fix camping but it won't fix proxy/distance camping. They may as well not bother.

  • The problem is it's too big now but as soon as you start closing off floors or wings becomes too small and restrictive due to the layout being lots of long halls and then small clusters of rooms.

Visually the map is lovely and really pays homage to the RPD very well. It even makes the layout more logical than the RE2 version but it just doesn't work for DBD.

Given the general disliking for indoor maps the community seems to have I'm surprised they went for the RPD and not the streets of Raccoon City.

It be nice if they would sticky downed maps on this forum somewhere but I guess I'm the only one who thinks so I started a thread asking for it but no takers

I noticed when I logged onto the game this evening it was in the notices for updates etc. That appeared. So they do tell us. I guess it's just easy to miss. I've never noticed a notice like that before.

I recommend actually bringing in Unbreakable and/or Soul Guard if that happens to you often.

You won't get value out of it every game but even 35% recovery speed/ 8 seconds of endurance is nice.

I'll have to give that a try, thanks. Having read up on it Soul Guard wouldn't be much use in this instance but Unbreakable seems it would. I just didn't think this should be something that you should need a perk to get out of. Mid game with multiple survivors active, sure.

On Twitter, on friday, they said they're disabling the map so idk.

Maybe I got it when it went back up but before they took it down? I got it three times and it was working fine so dont see why they need to take it offline again.

  • I think BHVR really need to up their game accessibility wise. I'd love an option to press to start activities rather than hold it as it's getting harder with my crappy hands. I wish there were a way to directly propose these things to them.
