  • I do have IF at lvl 3 but never thought of that, thanks! I'm not sure if I'm capable to snowball with Billy yet but I'm gonna give it a try.

  • I want some whopper from burger king. I might also be or not be a bit drunk at the moment.

True, although this has never really happened to me before and its only on dead by daylight so i dont think its me..

It could be DBD servers, I don't deny that but it was more of a PSA that DL and UL speeds doesn't necessiraly mean stable connection.

  • Yes, Demo. Certainly Demo is what I meant. Not Billy. Never.

i have 1 gig download spead and 800mbps upload while also using ethernet i dont get bounced from any game or really have ping problems in any other game, the devs themselves have acknowledged that its a issue due to them making a whole bug discussion post for people to post their bans so they can fix it of which i didnt know before posting this, the main reason im annoyed is due to the fact that ive spent around 200 to 300$ on dbd and for me to not be able to play the game because of a bug that i cant stop from happening is really upsetting me :/

DL and UL speeds doesn't necessarily mean good stable connection. You could have problems with network adapter settings, windows firewall, ISP issues and so on.

I love you. For umm, some reason. Not because Billy is your number 3 choice on the list and I love Billy. It is entirely for some other reason not related to Billy whatsoever.

I find her to be in the middle. I just think she is very boring to play as.

I find Nurse very fun to play even though I suck. Feels very rewarding to hit those blink strikes. Maybe some day I'll play her enough to get rid of the addon that shows me where I'm going to blink and actually be decent with her. I haven't played all killers yet which could also kinda cloud my opinion. I don't have most of the killers at the moment but slowly going to get them all.

  • BILLY! Not really though, I find nurse incredibly hard. Even with that addon that shows where my blink lands.

  • PC EU rank 9 surv, most commons are huntress and Freddy. Least commons are pig, demo and deathslinger. I would love to play more against piggy. I love those reverse bear traps.

I forget which thread it was, but I had a suggestion about this idea somewhere else. General gist was this:

    Gates would have Five Milestones:

    -0%

    -25% (First light turns on)

    -50% (Second light)

-75% (Third light and buzzer) *If the gate ever returns to 75%, the buzzer will re-activate*

    -100% (Gate Opens)

If a gate's switch is not being used and a survivor is not within 2m (or ~6ft) of the switchbox, the gate will regress to the previous milestone. For example, a survivor 99%'s the gate and runs off to help a teammate, the gate begins to regress when they leave until it returns to 75% (meaning survivors will need 5 seconds to open the gate).

This would mean survivors going for risky end-game saves have different choices over the optimal "99 the gate and conga-line out" strategy:

-Open the gate and use all remaining survivors to help with the save (but risk perks like Bloodwarden interfering).

-75% the gate and use all remaining survivors to help save (Risk comes from the perk Remember Me and/or the extra time needed to open the gate).

-99% the gate, but leave a survivor to camp the switch, preventing regression (leaving less man-power to help make the save).

Sounds good. My experience is still quite shallow so don't know if it actually is a big difference or not.

  • Yellow or red ping for me. Kinda sucks but at least I got my daily done.

I like the comments from Salty Survivors when I beat them. I also play other games where people might look at my profile and not gain information they don't need.

CSGO with private profile and I get tons of hacker accusations. It's so funny. But maybe it would be better if we could check profiles in dbd only after the game is over. Don't know. I don't check profiles before match anyway.

Tbh it's only a small portion of rank 1s u need to worry about, most rr are boosted to hell and a little understanding of tiles will easily body them. No difference between bad red, purple or green rank survivors.

Stick it through, it'll be a bit of a learning curve but once you get it'll be easier.

Or play survivor it's just way easier. Everyone gravitates to killer in the beginning because it's easier, but frankly when I started survivor I could probably count my escapes on one hand out of 100 games.

Yeah I've noticed not all of them are actually good. I've had rank 2 tell me I tunneled him when in fact he could not loop at all and I constantly caught him fixing gens and others were smart enough to move. Like how can you not hear Billy zooming your way from across the map? But the ones that are actually good, oh boy it is disheartening when I can't even get one hit in.

And I do occasionally play survivors. I just don't enjoy it as much as playing killer. There is just something nice going around the map with chainsaw or hammering down people with Oni.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So you would rather choose to wait for an eternity to get matched with other new players? Doesnt make sense.

Why doesn't it make sense? I would, much rather sit in queue for longer and get matched people with similar skill level to mine than get thrown instantly to matches against red and purple ranks. Honestly if that was current system there could be more killers because matches would be more fair and new killers, like me, wouldn't have to get eaten alive in 5 mins match after match after match...

  • I know the struggles with matchmaking. And I hope fix is coming this month and it actually gets fixed. Most of my matches are against players way out of my league.

  • Matchmaking is busted but fix should come this month. About the BP and perk grind, I don't see issue with it. I'm sitting around 160 hours and have teachables unlocked on multiple killers and I have BBQ at rank 3 on both Billy and Oni, which is the ones I play 99% of the time. With BBQ and BP offering grinding perks doesn't take that long. Unless you are really unlucky getting your perks from bloodweb.

I have nothing against regular claudettes but blendettes are awful. Unfun to go against or to have on your team. Equipping cosmetics that make you randomly disappear even during a chase on some maps is not 'stealth', any more than getting hit by a spirit because her passive phasing threw you off is her outplaying you. I played a match yesterday featuring two of these creatures, one had the silent slug glitch and vanished into some patch of grass or god knows where and the other one let her bleed out while urbaning around looking for the hatch. I'd rather get a 0k against survivors who actually play the game.

I could also have said in my first reply that it is Blendette that I have the issue with, not all Claudette players. Good point.

It is quite true though. I can stomp people easily around my rank but I can't do anything against better players. And I also use decreased charge-time addons to down people in one hit. Maybe with more hours I can turn from a noob stomper to actually competent Billy.

    Survivor

Steve's tend to be some of the most annoying Survivors I've played with and face. Maybe it's how he is designed, but most players seem to also play really cocky with him which just gets infuriating as Killer but at least as Survivor, that gives me time to work on the objective while the Steve is focused on the Killer (and far away from me from becoming an annoyance.)

    Killer

Hillbilly's who rely on One-Downs all the time tend to be much worse than they actually think they are, A Hillbilly who always one-downs is a noob stomper, but against a competent team he will be freaking wrecked. I'm mainly saying this because everytime I face a Billy like this my teammates started massively losing braincells and just lets him get his free down.

    Ouch, I am sad now.

I would've been happy to acknowledge your curiosity if you'd replied with anything more than a brush-off. I brought it up because it's a double standard I see a lot in this forum, that killers should be able and encouraged to use whatever tactics, perks, addons that're optimal given whatever situation they find themselves in. and I don't actually disagree with that, sometimes you do have to sweat it out in order to salvage a really tough trial. survivors, though? apparently all it takes is selecting claudette to have crossed a line. tunnel them, mori them, all for playing the game the way they'd like to -- a common defense for camping and tunneling.

I'd like to see a more thoughtful discussion than let's all do whatever we want to our mutually most hated character claudette, given her innate and objectively unfair advantages that make the game more challenging and therefore deserve punishment. it's boring and in my experience untrue.

To be fair there is also double standard from the survivor side. Survivors should always have fun but only way to have fun is their way and what killers see as fun is meaningless.

People should be allowed to play whoever they want on both sides but cosmetics giving advantage should be looked at. Looking at this thread both sides suffer from this so why it still is a thing in game, I don't understand.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324991#Comment_1324991

My point was more that anyone who defends camping (or any killer strategy, in fact) is accused of being a "killer main", even if nothing could be further from the truth. You're right, however. This isn't about that.

I think the issue is less about Claudette and more the overall theme that some cosmetics provide tangible in-game benefits. That's not supposed to happen.

True, the cosmetics giving advantage shouldn't be in the game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324984#Comment_1324984

that's one way to completely write someone off huh? I actually play both sides pretty frequently nowadays, and you can go through my comments to see how often I bring up camping and tunneling if you'd like. spoilers tho: it's rare.

It was just a response to your "killer mains do x", not saying you bring it up every time or that you were a survivor main.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324984#Comment_1324984

I'm a survivor main (rank 5 survivor, rank 10-ish killer, haven't touched killer in quite a while) who defends camping and tunneling and I still get accused of being a killer main. It's quite interesting.

I don't actually mind the discussion when it is in threads about camping or tunneling but I don't see any reason to bring it up here. Thread was about Claudette and why people hate her. And I don't see why I am not allowed to hate her blending in the maps just because camping and tunneling is a thing.

  • @hagling said:

killers are so quick to defend camping or tunneling as valid tactics yet a survivor playing stealthy?? that's just too far. even given the advantage of knowing exactly who they're facing before the round, they can't imagine slotting something like stridor to increase their noise detection or i'm all ears for wallhacks or whispers or any of the other anti-stealth addons or perks in their arsenal. they just mori the claudette. problem solved.

it's a boring bias. i personally love sneaky survivors, if ol blendy's going invisible in the scenery or urban evading around she's definitely not doing gens or being at all helpful toward her allies. a classic blendette is basically an extra perk slot for killers.

And survivor mains are so quick always bringing up killers defending camping and tunneling in every thread.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323532#Comment_1323532

Only certain maps have foliage that allow Claudette to become nearly invisible. I've played against plenty of survivors not named Claudette who were hard to find.

Like I said, stealth is a play style.

And I personally haven't encountered many Claudettes that used those special bushes to hide in.

Good for you, I still hate her guts for being so hard to find.

  • I came up with few reasons why killer would feel the need to camp.

    • Frustration
    • They don't know better/are new
    • Clicky-clicky / teabagging survivors
    • Enjoyment from camping

Camping won't go away as long as the game allows it. Same with teabagging, clicky-clickys, SWF swat teams, suiciding on hook, DC, moris, keys etc...

  • I hate Claudette and the ability to be invisible on certain maps. I still don't tunnel or mori them though.

  • I don't have that many hours but I guess I could still say Billy is my main because I play him most of the time.

  • @FrootLoops said:

I do find it ironic that the people that defend camping and tunneling also complain about gen rushing. How does gen rushing work? survivors getting gens done back to back? it's almost like you are too busy applying your winning strategy to keep people from sitting at a gen for 80 seconds (or about 45 seconds if they pair up). especially since toolboxes have been nerfed to near uselessness and perks like BBQ, discordance, thrilling tremors, surveillance, and probably more that I can't think of will tell you where you need to go to get more pressure.

On the other hand if you left the hooked guy alone you are guaranteed that at least one and most likely 2 survivors aren't touching a generator for at least 30 seconds, which gives you time to find one of the other 2 (or both) and pressure them off a gen. Now you've got 3 people not doing anything and you are moving around the map making survivors cautious.

camping and tunneling is definitely a winning strategy if you know the team is super altruistic, or late game when there are fewer gens, everyone has had a hook state or 2, and all the survivors feel like they have a big brass pair for making it that far and will rush for the saves, but early game it's not only a salt generator it also causes all that gen rushing we hear so much about. You are in that case relying entirely on their mistakes rather than your own skill to get you kills.

Everyone is entitled to play how they like of course, but there is a pretty good reason why camping and tunneling is not the norm. It is boring, unskilled, and synonymous with the bully beating up the skinny kid so he can get the ball, even though nobody wants to play with him

I don't defend any specific mechanic/strategy, I defend freedom of choice. And as you said it too, people are free to play how they want.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1321975#Comment_1321975

These aren't "my rules". I mean, I would love to take credit for the 'golden rule', but unfortunately it was around long before I was born.

Clearly not everyone thinks like I do, because people ruin matches I'm in every single day. That's pretty clear.

Tunneling is a choice. It can always be avoided. You may choose not to avoid it...but that's a conscious decision to punish that person. Maybe you're doing it because they were toxic to you...that's understandable. Clearly I don't like toxic people either. But unless it's that or end game, you shouldn't be tunneling people.

Gen rushing isn't comparable to tunneling at all. There are numerous ways to kill a survivor. There is 1 way to do a gen. Killers like to claim tunneling is a made up thing...except it has a very definable action that people in both camps recognize and validate. Gen rushing is literally just doing generators. That's it. Touching a generator at all. You can tunnel a survivor to death in the first 2 minutes of the game. You can't finish 5 gens in the first two minutes of the game. Tunneling completely incapacitates a survivor and removes their opportunity to earn BP or PIPs. Doing a gen does not remove anything from the Killer...instead of provides them something to destruct and a place to find their next victim. Not. Comparable.

Again, not my rules. Just average expectations of average people playing a game they also want to enjoy. And just so we're clear - my assertion that everyone should be able to play and enjoy the game is consistent between when I play Killer and when I play survivor. I don't camp/tunnel when I play Killer. If a Killer isn't have a good time in a match - I have no problem dying to help ensure they meet their daily/challenge and earn decent BP with a higher chance to at least safety PIP. This is not a one way expectation.

It boggles my ######### mind that you suggest people play a game in a fair way so that everyone can enjoy it and people actually refute that concept.

People like different things. Just because some ruin the match for you, it doesn't mean they were doing anything wrong. Golden rule is a made up rule and people are in no way required to follow it, as long as they don't break any rules set by game developers.

Game has competitive aspect and some like to win by any means necessary to get that highest rank. This means fun is out of the picture occasionally. And it is absolutely fine.

It boggles my mind that you only see one way of playing as fair and right way to play and refuse to give people freedom of playing how they want.

To sum it up: not everyone has the same. mindset, people like different things. Get over it and give people the freedom to play how they want, when they want as long as they don't break the rules set by game developers.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1321914#Comment_1321914

Gen rushing cannot be compared to any of the behavior being discussed in this thread. Its not remotely comparable. So I'm not sure why you'd even bring it up. Running out of tunneling arguments?

I, and every other survivor who doesn't feel like rewarding unskilled players with mutliple hooks, WILL continue to suicide and move on. Because just like camping and tunneling, it's well within the confines of the rules to do so.

No one said anything about disconnecting. Again, just running out of things to talk about?

And no, expecting people to play a game fairly so that everyone can enjoy themselves is not your favorite buzz word: entitlement. It's what normal, empathetic grown ups give and expect when they approach pretty much any aspect of their life that involves interacting with other people. You clearly lack empathy and any interest in winning a game fairly or enjoying a match with others. That's fine. Treat actual human beings like NPCs and play the sweaty, toxic matches of your narcissistic dreams. :)

Just don't come here and cry when people check out of your sweatfest and post the very true complaint that that play style is cheap, absurd, and ruins the game for the majority player base in this community. 👍️

So play by your rules or don't play at all? Seems fair. Not everyone thinks like you do, some like to tunnel or facecamp and find it fun and you suiciding on hook because you don't want to reward him takes the fun away from him. But it is fair because they didn't play by your rules, I understand that.

Sometimes survivors are bad and "tunneling" cannot be avoided, but I guess killers should just look the other way so it goes by your rules and you don't have to suicide on hook, again, taking the fun away from your team and killer.

Gen rushing is actually comparable to tunneling in a way. Tunneling takes the fun from survivor, while gen rushing can take the fun away from killer. But I guess gen rushing isn't a thing and even if it was it is fine because that would go by your rules.

And you accuse of treating players as NPCs while you enforce your rules on killers? BHVR should add game mode where you could play against actual bot that follows your rules so you won't get upset and suicide on hook when things doesn't go exactly like you want.

I've had matches with ranks 2, 3, 3 and 5 as a rank 16 killer. and as a rank 16 survivor i've been put in lobbies with all red ranks recently. last I heard from a dev last week is that the match making takes the average of a swf or lobby and pulls a killer from there. could be anything =/- 6 of either end

    fkbhvr.png

This has been my usual experience. Like a lot of lobbies like this and the mix of purples and reds for the short time I've played this game. I played surv only for few days because I got sick of these lobbies. Today has been exceptionally good day with MM. Which makes me hope that I've been testing the new MMR system as said in this thread: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/157584/is-new-mmr-active-already/p1

    mm.png

My games today have been looking like this, not once I had reds and only a few purples. I like to believe these matches were part of testing the new MMR system. That would give me hope new system could actually turn out fine.

  • I haven't seen any red ranks today and only a few purples. Usually I get tons of reds and purples and hardly ever people around my rank. I don't know if I'm lucky getting good matches or I got lucky and I am playing with new MMR tests going on. I like to think it is the latter because that would mean new MMR system looks promising.

  • I rank up and derank all the time and most of my deranks are from A) bad matchmaking or B) SWF. Should SWF be bannable because I deranked and I didn't enjoy the match?

  • I would like to see keys, moris and iri heads gone from the game.

  • I like to go fast. Billy is my favorite and Oni comes close second.

From this survivor's perspective, you are wrong.

A skilled Killer will not find and down a skilled survivor quickly. And that is the point. Unfortunately, a skilled Killer will find and hook potatoes quickly, which sucks as a stronger player because we all know the game gets exponentially harder with less people or when someone(s) is a total anchor.

I would like 2 things in this game that would, IMO, really bring back the fun. 1) Killers who play 'fair', as you put it. 2) A much better rank/match making system.

There is absolutely no fun playing against unskilled Killers who are easily evaded and dunked on. There is no fun in playing against Killers whose only prowess is to camp and/or tunnel every survivor. There is very little fun in being paired with survivors who do not belong playing alongside legit red ranks and make brain dead decisions that are bad for the team.

Imagine how blissful it would be to just be paired with people of your own skill level, both survivors and Killers, who all played well.

I appreciate a match where a Killer just plays fair. Even if I die. When I get downed in a good chase, I usually remark, "bah, I deserved that."...in post-game chat, I try and tell them that I legit appreciated their play style - because it's so f'ing rare, but it's so much more fun to play against. Match after match after match of being camped and tunneled really ruins this game. It's sad that it's actually noteworthy when someone just plays well and everyone gets to enjoy themselves. That people are so used to having a crappy time, that when someone manages to maintain a fun match - it's praise worthy. That's sad, bruh.

What is fair play by killer? Seems like survivors opinion about it is to play as dumb as killers can so survivors can all escape. I'm honestly curious.

From my perspective as new player, most efficient way to play killer is to tunnel always. Cut down survivors one by one. I haven't done anything that could be seen as unfair or toxic playing but in return I still get mostly clicky-clickys, teabags and ggez baby killer in chat. And this is while survivors are way higher, more experienced than me running meta perks while I'm not even allowed to use noed.

  • I don't want pity kills. If I get outplayed, I get outplayed. Simple as that. Just do bones and gens and leave.

    Edit: had bones written twice.

  • Just do gens and bones and then leave, I don't want pity kills. If I get outplayed, I get outplayed. Simple as that.

I think for now I'd prefer to go with a pre built for now as it'll be my very first desktop PC although as I get more familiar with them I will most likely build my own one for my next PC. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Building a PC isn't really hard to do these days. Motherboard connectors are color coded and/or text coded, there are tons of good tutorials on YouTube like Linus Techtips. Putting in processor is the only thing to worry about. Triplecheck you get it right in the socket so you won't bend any pins, then apply correct amount of thermal paste. Building PC from parts usually is a lot cheaper than buying pre-built. Especially if you have patience to wait for discounts on parts which happen quite often. I suggest getting a tower with proper built-in intake and exhaust fans.

So, it is a very strange perk and it feels killer dependent as some get much better use out of it than either. It is more of a fun perk than one that will win you the game. If you are this far in leveling her up, you might as well finish the job.

If your profile picture is anything to go by, dark devotion can be pretty good on hillbilly, even more so on Bubba
