What’s the word on asking other survivors ranks in the lobby? Is it ok? Bad etiquette?

Seems like behavior are quietly testing out their new matchmaking system again as I’m getting a lot of 17-19 rank team mates, I’m rank 4 and it’s putting me against rank 1 killers.

In my opinion it generally makes for a bad experience for survivors and killer.

It was in the game for a while but once again "wah we dont want players quitting because of their teammates ranks. So instead we'll force them into an utterly unenjoyable crap shoot of a match".

Yeah,i got like over 1000 Moris on my killers.Wish i could trade them for BP offerings though because i almost never use them :/

Same here. I get why people quit when they see one. Its not fun to queue for 5 minutes or longer just to get unlucky with being hooked first. I never see killers use them on final hook when I play survivor its "how fast can I tunnel this guy out and make this game unwinnable". I just use them for rift/dailies and do a final hook mori.

I have noticed especially in the older maps like farm i could run a tile correctly but survivor still escaped due to the lack of BL and that last moment of a speed burst i really noticed it on the TL i ran that perfectly and i still missed due to not having BL at that last moment

but i found this BL test timing so weird as maps like the farm are getting updated eventually so it may not be a issue once they are updated so the data they have now is going to be outdated when the maps are updated why not wait till more of the maps are updated to really test BL as atm we have 12 out of 35 maps updated with another 6 coming in the chapter 18 update

this feel like a waste of time and un needed frustration for killers

It definitely made jungle gyms an even bigger time sink when not playing an anti-loop/trap killer for me. I began having to just drop chases if I saw one with an L/T wall nearby or a pallet tree/haybale tile between that and another tile.

And you're right. This would have made more sense after more of the map reworks are out so we could get a more "final" redesign of the maps and their tiles.

    :( why people hate Legion?

    He isn't even good

He isn't good but he still makes matches extremely slow and dull. My reason for hating them. You know you're in for an incredibly boring match when you see that deep wound timer 30 seconds in.

It works great against people with medkits that have to heal in a conventional way after being hit, it can help you with kicking the key out of survivor's hands if he wasn't smart enough to leave it somewhere, it helps you against flashlight bully squads which are annoying even if you know how to deal with them. That's enough reasons.

More than 2 flashlights is always a free win anyway for me. Too much time spent going for saves and not doing gens.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208268/since-the-bloodlust-experiment

im sad its back, i felt no difference and never get bloodlust during my chases but i have a problem with dropping chases and when i get BL1/BL2 i just feel bad and like i deserve to lose wich ruins my confidence as a killer.. its rare but still, hopefully they remove it asap

sidenote: its fun to see people rage because its gone and to win chases with killers that rely on bloodlust, it truly shows who isnt that good and need to improve.. bloodlust only exist to get bad players a down and rewards people that play poorly.. hopefully its gone soon, cant wait

Calling players bad because they play a killer whose design is flawed to the point that they need BL isn't very fair. Many of the killers in the game are reliant on BL because of the constraints of their powers design. I like Micheal. He's the reason I got into DBD. But there's not much rookm for improvement in Micheal. He cannot counter loops. He cannot counter detection perks. Outside of this he has no power outside of a timed extended lunge. There's no way to "play better" against a good survivor at a strong loop as Micheal/Ghostface/Wraith (without purple addons)/Plague/Legion. These killers have no additional chase power to help with strong tiles, and ontop of that their main power be it slowdown or stealth, does not stand up against even half decent survivors.

These killers all have an incredibly low skill ceiling and there's no way to increase that through gameplay.

If BL actually made no difference at all then that means you're playing killer that are strong enough by design to not need it.

  • Tinkerer is countered by simply rotating your camera while doing a gen or lsitening for the killers ambient noises.

  • I'll never understand why killers use Franklins. Outside of having no other perks or just being a troll it makes no sense to me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208123/would-you-mind-if-ds-was-base-kit-if-it-was-100-balanced-and-fair-for-both-killer-and-survivors

No, there are better ways they can fix tunneling and camping.

    My general idea is.

Fix camping by giving every other survivor a 100% bonus to repair speed (40 seconds to repair a gen) if you are camping a hook and there is no other survivor nearby. Give killer and survivors a notification that this is happening. Should behave similar to how the emblem currently works for camping detection.

    Also, make kindred base kit.

Also, after reaching the second hook stage while the killer is camping and the other survivors have the repair buff (if 1 hooked then camped) you automatically unhook yourself and become "Ethereal" (details below) This means you will die on your next hook. This effect does not happen after all the generators have been repaired.

Fix tunneling by creating a new status/buff effect called "Ethereal" which works as follows:

While you are "Ethereal" you make no noise, no scratch marks, and are completely invisible to the killer. You are also unable to be hit and receive 100% bonus movement speed for 10 seconds. For the next 20 seconds, you are unable to exit the trial through the gates. If you perform any action, or are healed by another survivor during this time, the effect is cancelled.

After you do these 2 things, you rework DS and BT to do this:

    DS:

Works exactly the same as it does now, EXCEPT:

    • Lasts 30 seconds
    • While in the killer's terror radius, or in a chase, the timer freezes.
    • If you perform any action (repair gen, heal, do totem etc.) or are healed for one full health state, the perk deactivates.
    • You are now able to use this perk more than once.

    BT:

    Completely reworked.

When unhooking another survivor while in the killer's terror radius, they gain "Borrowed Time". 10 seconds after being unhooked (after the ethereal effect ends passively), the survivor unlocks the "self-heal" option and are able to heal themselves at 150% healing speed.

I want to desperately believe this is a shitpost but you put too much time into this.

I used to really enjoy the huntress, she was my #1 favourite killer. Recently going back to her after a lot of game changes, I realize I just don't like her anymore at all unfortunately.

    1. Trees and Rocks added to the game really make her unenjoyable.
    2. Not able to throw hatchets around trees, I'm forced to try to M1, but bloodlust is even turned off, also why should I be relying on m1' as huntress? Yikes.
    3. Idk, I used to enjoy the idea of possibly sniping or even hitting people with a hatchet on loops. well loops have been changed, as dbd stated, they are a bit shorter, but how the hell do I get a hatchet around a short loops? IDK man.. These my thoughts

Maybe I'm just really rusty, I'll give her a try later when BLoodlust comes back at least.

She's still incredibly good in the right hands. Most complaints I see for her are about how large maps really screw her over. She's 110 and has to also stop to find a locker to reload.

######### Trapper and Myers players I guess.

The buff solo survivor needs is an improvement to the pip system. Any potato can mantain rank 1 nowadays and this leads to huge discrepancies between survivors of the same rank color. If the ranking system was effective it would guarantee having at least decent teammates that have similar skills to yours.

This. I die the majority of my rank 1 games as solo because of either a potato teammate making a bad play that snowballs into us all or I just get outplayed by a good killer. I still safety pip if not pip the vast majority of those matches.

There's games where we've all played poorly and I absolutely expect a derank but just black pip.

  • Wasn't talking about that perk specifically but I've actually been seeing a ton of OoO recently. Mainly by Lauries who don't seem to know what a pallet is. OoO is different because it counters every killer except Ghostface and Wraith.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

Its very noticeable on stronger loops sense they now have to actually can't constantly greed pallets/windows without being punished if they mess it up.

I really do feel like people underestimate 5% movement speed as its the difference between the trapper's ability to play most loops and the hag's inability to play most loops.

Even in where scott says he doesn't notice BL helping him I could point out 2 windows and 2 pallets that he either got a hit on or forced them not to greed it because of BL going off nearly every video.

I've been saying since Midwich launched how hilariously weak that 15% faster movement speed actually is if the survivor can hold W with impunity or the loops has many parts sticking out that punish the killers large hitbox further. Shack with that corner hook is an absolute nightmare. The Crane on Azarovs that for some reason pushes the killer outward but not the survivor are a few examples.

  • @The_Bootie_Gorgon said:

Since the bloodlustless weekend is over, are you paying more attention to when BL1 triggers in your matches?

I'm about to fire up some DBD and try to be more aware of when BL1 kicks in.

I was surprised by how fast BL1 actually triggers after the event was over. Chases trigger from so far away sometimes that by the time you even get within lunge distance of them you might already be BL1, and that's assuming they just held W. The only killers it didn't really happen to me with is Spirit and Blight for obvious reasons.

  • I feel like there are too many perks that heavily counter specific killers for this to be fair.

No idea when Clown's rework is coming, I'm hoping it's in the next mid-chapter.

What do you guys think? Are you hoping Clown's rework will be good? Do you think Clown is alright where he is (unpopularly) or do you think this is the right decision from the devs?

I'm pretty much with you on deathslinger. Really didn't think long term. The other is plague and jane. I was still new when I bought the chapter didn't realise I could have bought plague on her own. I've used jane a couple times for dailies and thats about it. Plague has decent perks but boy do I struggle to play her.

Deathslinger is another one for me. Same with Legion. Like, I can do well with Deathslinger. I've played FPS most of my life and because of that his ADS is hilariously easy to abuse. But I don't find him fun. I had a BLAST with him and the new map is his launch month. But I've never really had the feeling to go back and play him again.

Title, me and my friend have been playing duos for a while and he keeps running self care, I keep telling him it's the slowest healing perk in the game and wastes time but he always replies with "muh infinite heals". He does not get any value from it as he is pretty good at chase and avoids the killer incredibly often (unless self-caring, because he's stuck in position for 30 seconds). What should I say to him?

Tell him to keep a timer going for every time he heals with self care across a match and compare it to the amount of gens he could have completed after. As long as he's using Botany he isn't losing much time, if any. But if hes Self caring on its own or through slopyy hes a dumdum

I mean to the point where you throw something, hit something, swear out loud, shut off the game, or anything else.

Usually I never play to the point of rage I just stop playing if I’m getting tilted and do something else. But one time I kept playing a bad match which already sucked but it was the end chat that set me off. I got up, dropped my controller and just walked away.

Has anyone else had a bad rage with DBD or do you just close the game when you’re starting to feel upset?

When starting out a few years back I used to get kinda tilted. Doesn't happen very often anymore as I'm older and know remind myself its just a game. I've only had 1 time recently where its happened but it was just a DC.

Wasn't a "smash things" level of rage. I used to do that when I was a Halo kiddie but after a while I realised how often I was spending money on new controllers and just... grew up I guess.

If you reach a point where you're physically damaging things as an adult over a game just take a little time off and chill out. Remind yourself of how insignificant 1 game of DBD is in the grand scheme of things.

  • I'm still pretty disappointed how poorly thought it this killer seems to be. A shame because I love the concept and find Victor hilarious.

It boggles my mind though. We know they have a QA team. Most of these issues should have been apparent long before public testing.

  • @DwightFairfield said:

They're things that a killer can do, but they shouldn't be viable nor should they be promoted as playstyles to such an extent that perks need to be designed to counter them. It's aggravating and practically uncounterable because eventually you are going to die and you can not do anything about it. I'm not saying they should be bannable offenses but they should at least be frowned upon enough for Behaviour to do something, anything really, to fix the issue.

They're viable because bad or just survivors without the right perks (kindred) make them viable.

  • Honestly I thought playing without BL showed how pitifully slow killers actually are in an open chase. It was like every map was Midwich

You may have misread a thread that was on here a day or so ago. Currently his fov IS fixed when carrying a survivor. They're reworking all his animations to be like that.

I honestly don't know why people can't see these experiments are very good for the game. This allows them to test things before they decide to nerf or buff them, so they can do so accordingly.

Maybe disable meta builds (both sides) for a week to see how much they actually boost win rates. The PTB doesn't have a big enough player pool to test things like that.

But, as it is, we'll probably have a few "disable Bloodlust forever" posts for a week until The Twins come out.

I hope we get more of these weird experiments for devs to collect data. Every other weekend or something. Disable a mechanic/set of perks that is divisive in the community and see what's best for the future.

  • @SweetTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1769904#Comment_1769904

Yeah the Blight was another example of a botched experiment/release. For starters the devs had made changes to how the Blight played, but those changes were never implemented into the PTB. Gamers couldn't accurately give constructive feedback since they didn't have access to the same build that the devs did. Plus it was recently announced that the Blight's POV will be changing. Obviously this is great news for those that play the Blight, but this is something that should have been fixed prior to release.

I think the PTB thing was when Mcclean simply said something along the lines of the Blight in the PTB was "different" to the one he'd been tinkering with that week of the PTB. It was miscontrued iirc. People thought they had launched a weeks old version.

But yeah the POV thing bothered me. It's getting fixed though. And he's still both fun and a threat even without it.

  • @GrimReaperJr1232 said:

I definitely think the game's in a state where T3 and T2 of BL can be removed. However, the same cannot be said for T1. Don't believe me? Play a game of Temple of Purgation. Good luck mind gaming those loops when they can see you the entire time...

That's the problem I think. The whole "play better" thing. If there's no LOS blocker at a loop there's absolutely nothing the killer can do unless they're playing 1 of a very small handful of specific killers. And removing BL1 will only make these loops even stronger.

  • @MadLordJack said:

So long as it cannot be used aggressively, I think that'd be the best change since they decided to rework the maps.

This. I was thinking (it'll never happen) but, base kit, 45 second timer, pauses in a chase OR down. However, disables when touching a gen or changing a health state. But I think that would be too complex and weird to be basekit.

  • Its definitely made stronger loops even stronger, and weaker killers weaker. There's only 3 or 4 loops I can think of that are a literal infinite without it. But those are map specific tiles.

I'm interested to see what comes of this. I don't think anything will change outside of maybe removing BL3, potentially 2. I think outright removing it without major reworks to a lot of the loops would be a complete disaster and lead to people outright refusing to play killers without anti-loop powers in red ranks. Hell, long wall window jungle gyms are pretty insane without BL right now. Throw an L/T wall or Shack opposite that long wall window and you have an actual infinite against anyone that isn't Nurse.

I still think tile spawns and map design in general are the major culprit of DBD imbalance. Not gen speeds or specific perks.

And don't forget about the spirit she has no counterplay 🤓😂

I'm cool with those threads tbh.

  • I feel like the only people that say that are the literal "I only play killer" people. Like how you get some people who only play survivor and have some wack opinions. These killers wouldn't have lasted 2 games in 2016/17 DBD. They're also forgetting around late 2018/mid 2019 where we had significant survivors/pallet and loop nerfs. The healing speed nerf also.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

I think only the locker interaction won't be there on release, all the other changes will.

The problem is now everyone that didn't already know about that MASSIVE design oversight now knows. And its already easy enough to tell if Victors near. Hear weird gurgles? Run and jump in a locker. Safe. If it isn't included in some form. Even with missing assets. This will be the most botched killer launch since Freddy.

This'll be the first chapter I'm not buying at launch. It's clearly half-baked and after Blight this is shocking to see. Still doesn't even have an original map, even with existing realm assets.

This will be the first time EVER I haven't bought the chapter pack day 1. And my first time buying a character with shards.

Maybe I'll get Elodie with shards but not even bothering with the Twins.

It was kinda funny at the beginning but it's pretty surprising how many people got so upset about an experiement

Some people are legit acting like its permanent and wasn't for one weekend.

  • Don't worry, within the week we'll be back to nerf NOED/DS threads and "devs don't care about us" posts.

  • I guess if I had to choose maybe Elodie? I've always found French accents pretty hot. Kinda wish I tried harder to learn French in school instead of slacking.

For killers? Are we assuming post or pre entity? Still probably none. Maybe Susie assuming she was out of school and wasn't insane

  • When I played survivor I exclusively got top tier or chase based killers. Didn't see a single Micheal/Pig/Ghostface or anyone that gets hard countered by pallets. And I had a bad time with some of those killers when playing myself. I had to dedicated my entire build to anti loop.

  • @Wesker09 said:

    Sorry had to be said

Paired with Botany Knowledge its decent. I bring a medkit for faster heals on myself and still get faster heals on teammates. And a yellow medkit heals at 133% and lasts forever with the efficiancy boost from both perks.

The only time I don't self care with these two is if Sloppy Butcher is in effect as it just takes too long, but the medkit counteracts that.

It is literally the most healthiest way to leave when you aren't having a good time with the game.

I don't think the devs for this game are aware/or see that and probably nor does 50% or 80% of the players that play this game.

"If the game is not fun, then why bother?" Such common sense!

The problem is that DBD is designed as a game where one bad/missing player can ruin a whole match.

  • @Elena said:

Beast of Prey is a bloodlust reliant perk, with BL being disabled temporarily and possibly being removed in the future, what changes would you like to be made with the perk?

For example, I would change it so that you gain the undetectable status effect for 10/20/30 seconds while you've been in a chase for 10 seconds. To balance it, I would give it a cooldown of 60/50/40 seconds.

What change would you like to see?

Passive perk. No red stain. More chaser points. Boom. Actually useful. No 2 or 3 unnecessary triggers like Surge or other perks. Useable for pretty much any killer to get some use out of.

  • This is a silly thread. They literally said its for 2 days and its an experiment. They're most likely gathering info to see how much work it would be to fix the bad loops and if its worth spending the time for it or just leaving it in.
