Its reliant on the killer slugging, long enough for you to revive. And with Ruin + Undying they tend to have time on their side so will probably just hook you.
-
I go out of my way to kill sandbaggers unless its looks actually accidental.

Too situational to be better than DS. If you want a guaranteed use out of it you'll have to run flip flop as well and I don't see people replacing 2 meta perks for Flip Flop and Power Struggle
There's also the fact that you're using up a pallet, potentially a strong one. I think people are forgetting that. Whereas DS has massive time waste potential aswell as not using chase tools.

Just like killer has zero information about survivor movements on high wall loops?
Footsteps, breathing. The survivor is technically also in the dark if the killer knows how to hide their red stain and is playing off of osunds too
-
The fact that people think this might become meta outside of meme builds is shocking.

That's like saying the counter to a gen rushing swf is to just hook them.
When the devs have stated that they specifically want less stealth and more chases the "don't get found" crowd are awfully quiet.
-
I had a game yesterday where a Nancy started saboing a hook when I was already filling the hook bar and got stuck there whilst the player wiggled free. That was weird. Could have just been latency.
-
Its useful against idiots who see a red bar and go "oh no I can't do gens anymore". It takes too long to get the effects. You may as well use Thano.
-
Its just going to punish killers who are too paranoid to instant pick up a pallet down. 95% of the time teammates are too far to capitalise on it.
-
I feel like I wouldn't have a huge problem with Iri head if they just made her hatchet hitbox more fair. Latency is already giving her hits round 90 degree turns on dedicated servers. Either fix that or the hitbox, its absurd right now.

I remember when Doctor was released.
The devs did an interview (which I have since struggled to find) in which they stated that they wanted Doctor to be a "metagaming" playstyle, playing with the heads of the survivor players as much as he screwed with their characters themselves.
That's what his mechanic was supposed to be, but they ######### it up.
Him being anti-stealth was just something else he did, and the "stun" mechanic didn't even exist when he launched.
The only reason Doc exists in his current form is because the devs gave up (or forgot) what he was originally supposed to be.
true, but to be fair they patched that stun in not long after when they realised that he really had nothing going for him.
-
"Bully squads" are just SWF players that are better than you.
-
I think the old Freddy flicker would be a good idea. It would still play into her mindgame aspect without destroying her but would also add more back and forth and not "First hit, down 9 seconds later". The mindgames would actually have a back and forth which they currently do not, increasing her skill ceiling further.

Title. I miss the old hex ruin- the difficult skill checks. Imagine that with undying 😂 I remember survivors would throw away whole games just to get the ruin.
At first I missed old Ruin but it was only good against potatoes. Good players would just brute force it.
I kind of miss the lighting offerings, those were cool.

Strong killers are good if they're fair and the strength comes from outplaying survivors.
Spirit is not in that class.

1) That can't nobody know. Since nobody knows the future and with what the devs in the future will possible come up.
2) I had only seen a high peak of leaving players shortly after the rework patch. That is understandable. Nobody to that time thought that all of the posted ptb changes will go live. It had more look like a list from one dev about the things that could be possible done with the Legion, where they then in a meeting pick 1-3 things out.
But they haven't pick and just done everything as we know today.
3) The part of the playerbase that was against the Legion, was a very toxic, maybe the most toxic one in DBD. They tried to voice their opinion with the help of dcing, lying and denying of the real abilities of the Legion, towards the other parts of the playerbase that was either ok with the Legion, or neutral towards it and even towards the devs. Also in some forums, like the steam forums, they changed very often their forumnames, to fake a larger number of complaining people.
I had seen through it by accident, as I by accident discovered that their names got even in old threads changed and if you could remember who had written what in old threads, you could trace them, no matter how often they changed their names.
4) That said, you are right in parts. The Legion had annoying parts. For the people who have play it and against it, but that would have been the exploits and the addons. Not the basekit.
Pretty sure the "I hit you and look at the ground and no matter what I or you do in 20 seconds you're dead" was a pretty significant problem with his base kit. His add ons definitely excacerbated that problem though. The double mend stack bug was awful as was franks mix tape.

It's clear to anyone that a no DS weekend would just be a tunnelfest. I think, due to slugging being solely at fault of the survivors if it works, that a no Unbreakable weekend would be extremely interesting.
Sure, we'd see a lot more onis and nurses, but we'd also see a lot more calm spirit, WGLF, sprint burst and possibly even buckle up or flip flop.
Thoughts? I just really wanna reduce the amount of crutches on the survivor side, DS is still OP on it's own so seeing its effect without UB would be interesting.
(Inb4 chase another survivor 4head)Take the top 6 meta perks from both sides and delete them for a weekend. Should be fun. People might even find new builds they enjoy.

I would say that the Legion thing is still hurting, but it would be a lie. I am just mad about it and hold it as a bad example of game companie decisions in mind. Since they gutted the Legion with intent to cater a specific part of the core audience (also a very toxic part imo) and forget about the players who had fun to play, or to play against the pre rework Legion (they have exist, despite how much even the named toxic part still trys to denie it today), I just chuckle sometimes, that a game that solds so well, can't hold its players.
Usually I would have sympathy with the game devs (hell I still even speak good about Bethesda), but not if they on purpose stomb game features and frighten away parts of their playerbase, just to cater a small part of their core aduience.
I am curious how long this will be enough. At least on this way I have something to read while I am searching for new things to buy on steam, or amazon :).
Edit: What the rest matters, so I think that is a good list, besides by 2 or 3 killers where it seems at least to me a bit exaggerated.
Legion couldn't stay in their launch state. That would have done more to speed up the death of DBD than any other decision the devs have made. The amount of oversight there was in regards to deep wound and moonwalking outright killer survivor gameplay for the entire time leading up to the rework.
That said I'm not even remotely satisfied with the current version.
-
The problem is most players just run around with her and drop a trap at a loop instead of setting up a nest. Or they get sucked into the idea of just defending the basement. There's some godly hags out there. Just few and far inbetween, and shes kinda boring to play so no one wants to learn her.

Right because I am inclined to believe you from a forum post. Nah I'll just follow the statistic. Players who favor Killer are leaving fast, and players who favor killer are dropping out when they get the game. It doesn't look good, nor bode well for BHVR long term, which they know - which is why they want to change that - but have a hard time too because their survivor base is a massive group of entitled players at this point.
And I didn't refuse to play the game. I played the game. I played Survivor and never got sacrificed. Lol "don't @ me". Why even bother commenting then if you don't want a response, get out of here ya fool.
Cool nice stats showing a drop in killers.

Oh right. Why are all the Killer players leaving then? Why can't they get Killer players to stay?
I've been here for 4 years now, I have no plans on leaving. These new killers that are leaving are just unwilling to learn to play better. They want their wins handed to them. They wouldn't last 5 minutes in 2017 DBD. If they're actually leaving out of "frustration" when killers have better perks, less pallets, and shorter loops than they ever had than DBD just isn't for them
There are still imbalances in this game, mainly perks and map design, but if thats enough to make you actually quit the game... sorry, but this game isn't for you. The devs ARE making strides to make non-viable killers stronger. Look at Leatherface, spirit and freddy. all killers that sucked when first added. But its a understandably slow process.
People were literally crying and screaming about leaving when the devs announced a BL TEST. A TEST that they specifically said was for 1 weekend to gather data. Too many killers regurgitate this toxic "killers are victims" mentality that is propgated by certain content creators that I cannot name.
You literally refused to even play the game when BL was disabled showing you don't even want to try to contribute to the devs attempts at making this game more consistent. Dont @ me

Nurse main btw not that it matters but I have a bias obviously. If a killer is going to be strong you should need something aside from a decent pair of headphones to be good.
"Nurse main btw not that it matters but I have a bias obviously. If a killer is going to be strong you should need something aside from a decent pair of headphones to be good."

This is why I have such a problem with Spirit and Freddy currently. Any idiot can throw on slowdown perks and nothing but a top tier SWF or them being literal trash can stop them.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208799/thoughts-on-trapper
Broadly if a survivor could never escape from a trap it could lead to a possible issue where a killer just leaves a survivor in a trap the whole game while they chase everybody else. Survivors need to be able to escape a trap after a bit to avoid that.
That being said I’m not really a fan of how survivors currently can get out of a trap just randomly really quickly. Sometimes they hit a trap and are out in just a few seconds, it’s kind of annoying.
I've always thought it should be a timed action with skillchecks. Making it RNG based can either hurt the killer or help them tremendously with no input from either side.

You missed the charts they showed a month or two ago. Here’s the kill rates for games with a red rank killer. (The kill rates are higher across the board than the All Ranks chart since this Red Rank Killer chart includes games that had lower rank survivors.)
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0UL157TTWQNC/bildschirmfoto-2020-10-22-um-13-30-19.png
Yeah but these don't really mean much. There's way too many variables to consider. What add ons were used, what map were they on, were the teams good or bad (one bad survivor can snowball a whole match). The fact that Micheal is next to Spirit or Legion being above Huntress should speak volumes.

Im gonna pretend like you dont mean that you are ok if we have to wait 2 years and a half to get Spirit to be good again if they ######### her up, which they will.
With that out of the way, we can agree that all the counters I've specified are at the same time countered by the Spirit player, that's curious, you know how a killer counters some loops? By moonwalking, so the survivor can expect that moonwalk and counter It, right? That's survivor skill, but when Spirit gets you down by countering your counters to her power, "oh that's so broken" you guys just cant accept when someone is better than you, can you?
And btw, yh Im sooooo killer bias... Why dont you go around my profile and see how many times I've defended survivors and how many times I've gone against killers? Im one of the first people who wanted the Legion reworked when he was released because that really didnt have counterplays, I've been defending BT since I've been around, I've complained and bitched about dead zones in maps like Autoheaven and some Mcmillan variants, I've allways said gen speeds are good as they are now, but yh, Im sooo killer bias... I defend that the Spirit doesnt need any more "counterplay" as you guys call It when you clearly want a nerf, because she doesnt need It. That's It. I play both roles unlike many other people around these forum, Im red ranks on both sides and Im sure what Im talking about because I see both sides.
But anyway, I honestly dont give a ######### if you or anyone else changes their mind here, Im just writing all this so that somehow the devs see all the pros and cons regarding these conversation and somehow understand that it's not good for them to start nerfing a killer that is already at a good spot on the tier list.
We are allways gonna have strong and weak killers, why should we get them all to be mediocre at best? Yes the Spirit is strong. Does she have counterplay? Yes she does. Does she need anymore? No she doesnt.
Is the Legion strong? No. Does he have counterplay? Yes he does. Does he need anymore? No he doesnt. But no one is complaining about Legion counterplay right? Because he is easy to counter. People just complain about Spirit because she is a little harder to counter. That's It.
"No one is complaining about LEgion" the complaints about Legion literally never stopped. Still by far the most boring killer to play against in DBD.
It seems like your idea of counterplay is either "hope the killer is bad, survivors skill should have no say" or "just gen rush lol". Which are boring styles of gameplay for both sides. Or are you going to pull up Tru3 already disproven counterplay video that literally doesn't even work for him in livestreamed games?

4 Survivors to 1 Killer - who does BHVR care about more. Killer mains are like the runt of the litter that BHVR just ignores like a momma cat. They sometimes get in for scraps, but when it comes to climbing a stone step, she's picking up all the Survivor mains and walking off, while the runt sits there confused and whining and then finds some kind of work around on their own.
And like a toxic family where the parent has a favorite child. Every time the Killer does get something from their cat mother the survivor mains go "Why don't I get something too, this is broken and unfair", so they get an uneeded buff just to keep them happy. Also when survivors get nerfed, they are incredibly careful about it like the Survivors are this delicate flower that if the PH level is slightly off they are all going to die. So it's not even a nerf, they buff some other part so there really is no change at all, and make the changes on something that isn't even apart of the problem (looking at you Toolbox "nerf" (changes)).
Don't believe me? BHVR literally is trying to market that they are looking for Killer mains - because they're running out. They even had Samanimation make an ad for them where they constantly hint at searching for Killer (wink) Fog Whisperers.
Tin foil hat territory. If BHVR didn't care the game would still be in the state it was 3 years ago.

It's strange how so many people are willing to accept Spirit's lack of counterplay and interactive gameplay in favour of 'well survivors are also imbalanced and blah'. There's already a killer that can stomp 99% of teams that has clear counterplay and definitely has power in games, and that's Freddy. Freddy is insanely strong. Freddy has even more map pressure than Spirit. He only lacks the unpredictable factor. Yet nobody is saying Freddy is /broken/. He is horribly oppressive against generic solo teams, sure, but it doesn't mean he can't be reliably countered with skill and knowledge.
Spirit is just absolute crap and Stridor counters the perk that gives survivors a chance (relying on a specific perk to have a chance against a killer isn't a counter, it's a big flaw in design). And yes, survivors have a few things that are with little to no counterplay, and these things have been complained about countlessly. This isn't the place for another DS-UB rant. This is about Spirit and the abysmal gameplay that goes with her, especially in high ranks.
Agreed. As much as I hate Freddy now and how low effort I consider him, I can still see what he's doing and attempt to use my skills as a survivors to outplay him. Against Spirit I have no info. Yet she does. So trying to outplay her is literally just "I'll take a seemingly random action and hope the Spirit player is a dumbass".

(Sorry, I got a little emotional there)

I've been going against a surprising amount recently. Unfortunately I'm a solo survivor and any half decent Nurse can decimate a solo team. Nurse takes a lot of time to learn and lots of survivor knowledge but that said I have such little respect for pubstomping Nurse players.

Do you want to heal yourself?
Do your teammates hate you for wasting time while doing practically nothing?
Do you hate being called selfish?
Do you want to spend less time Self-caring in the corner when you could be doing something else?
Well now you can! With this magical trick, you'll be able to heal yourself faster and actually contribute to your team!
Anyway the trick is to bring a medkit and run Pharmacy. Now you have 2 medkits for the trial which you can use to heal yourself for half the time Self-care gives you. Wow! But that's not all.
Now you can also heal other survivors even faster and not end up in the forums where you'll be insulted
So what are you waiting for? Level up your Quentin, get a medkits, and ditch that Self-care into the bin where it belongs
There's better ways. Inner strength. Self care with Botany saves more time than most of these as long as you don't use it through Sloppy. Pharmacy is reliant on your teammates not spawning on chests and wasting them. Bond with Leader is also good for gen focused builds allowing you to get a quick heal and immediately 2 man a gen.
I've been using Botany and selfcare with a yellow medkit recently and its great. The medkit is faster and lasts forever. Can be used for even faster panic heals on teammates or to take protection hits with no major loss to the teams map pressure.

I'd argue that new Legion or Freddy aren't particularly fun either. These 2 killers have definitely been the biggest failure from a design standpoint imo. Legion is impotent with no real power and Freddy is so strong with a power for every situation that he borders on boring to actually play. There's no incentive to even wake up against a Freddy without slowdown add ons. Such a weird design choice.

I get it being loud on the survivors end cause of the scarieness and such but can we turn em down a bit for the killer players
Demos footsteps kind of make his undetectable add ons worthless, he seems to have a global cue for EVERYTHING even the teleport that gives him that effect in the first place. Clowns vault sound also removes mindgame potential.
That said I like the majority of killer ambient noises. How else are you supposed to know GF or Micheal is approaching from a LOS breaker or Billy with Tinkerer.
Demos noises can make him annoying to play sometimes though.

Pretty much a full or at least half agree on all of these except Doc. The hallucinations were never meant to be more than an additional form of tracking. His true power is his anti-loop.

Rift challenges are probably the culprit. A lot of the single trial survivor ones force you to play a certain way, sometimes straight up throwing the game for your whole team just to get them.
