No.

Wraith was not fundamentally changed, he's still Wraith. And fundamentally Wraith is pretty bad, he is not too overpowered, he's fine.
-
Blast Mine is pretty terrible. The real regression perk you should be scared of is Ruin and Blast Mine doesn't even affect that. It also doesn't stop the kick at all with PGTW, you could just kick right after and still get it's affect. It's funny but really bad.
-
I've had a few crashes here and there but other than that I've had no issues.
-
I like just having only 1 person be able to escape with a key, like the hatch would close right after one is used.
-
They fixed none of those problems.

I don't understand why people are excusing the poor console optimization because I thought it was common knowledge that DbD is poorly optimized even for PC, the system it released on. The devs simply made a poorly optimized game, so the consoles themselves aren't exactly the cause of the problem.
I mean they work perfectly on the newer consoles.
-
NOED is a problem that the devs refuse to fix.
-
Yeah that would be awesome. I feel like there are way too many good characters and costumes to only have 2 characters. I can name like 10 other characters I think would be amazing even for legendary cosmetics.
-
I don't think gen rushing is a legitimate complaint. Like survivors are doing gens too fast? That's literally their only objective, what are they supposed to do, just sit around? How could you get mad at survivors doing the objective too quickly? "I'm sorry killer, I did the gens too quickly. I should have just sat around and waited a bit longer just to make it more fair for you".
-
Killer just feels too stressful for me. Every once in a while I can get into it for a few days but It's just not the role for me.

Dbd is poorly optimised. It was made before next-gen consoles were a thing. Many of us aren't expecting 60fps 4k graphics, we're just expecting a stable framerate. It's really not a lot to ask for when you consider there are more graphically demanding games that can run at a stable framerate.
There is literally no excuse and people shouldn't have to put up with it when they've been promising console optimisation for 2 years now.
So then why does the game run flawlessly on the new consoles?

@Lycidas said:
Entity crowns, yes
Blood prestige on ANY cosmetic they already said that it would take too many resources, because they would have to design both the normal and the prestige version of each outfit for every character, every time they release a new outfit
It would be nice to have, but it probably won't happen
That's not true. The blue stuff when you get infected by Nemesis goes over every cosmetic and they didn't have to design it for each and every cosmetic. They could easily do it with blood but they choose not to.
-
being P3 means nothing. In fact I think it's a detriment. I have a character with every single perk and it's because I didn't prestige them. Prestiging characters is a waste of bloodpoints in my opinion unless you really want the bloody versions but I don't care for them.

My expectation is for the game to not stutter every 3 seconds despite playing at a decent enough frame rate, and for there to be more careful consideration when adding particularly taxing VFX to maps/cosmetics. If that's too much ask for then ######### me I guess.
And if they're legitimately at their breaking point then kill the game on last gen. Stop updating it, disable crossplay, etc etc.
Well I guess I can agree with that, but that's not what I was originally arguing. Also nobody wants it to be stop being sold on the old consoles. Breath of The Wild on the Switch is extremely popular and that game runs like garbage and gets around 20 - 30 FPS. That was also made by Nintendo, the biggest game company in Japan.

Dbd isn't a new game: it's an old game that the devs didn't expect to succeed and so they've continued to build their game upon a bad structure. If every match didn't load such a large amount of extraneous junk it might run decently. They brought it to console, they said they'd optimize for console, and they haven't. Players who continued to give them money because "console optimization is coming" are not going to let them forget this.
There are other things they could do to improve the console experience but have neglected. More options for controllers, like a dead zone setting. Being able to change the graphics settings (DOA6 on PS4 lets players choose "graphics" or "performance").
There are plenty of games on PS4 that look better, run better, and have a higher number of online players in the same lobby. It's not the hardware.
I agree with having a performance or graphics option, that's valid. I just don't like people being angry that a game with textures and models made in 2021 is not running flawlessly on their Xbox One.

Why does Destiny 2 run smooth as butter on old gen consoles despite 1 bazillion particle/light effects, more demanding graphics, faster movements, open-ish world, multiplayer etc ?
I've put almost 1k hours in Destiny 2 since I've started taking a long break from DBD (due to the terrible fps drops/freezes) and have yet to experience ONE SINGLE STUTTER.
No, the "old hardware" argument is not valid. Next argument please.
Because Destiny 2 is one of the most popular games right now and it's made by Bungie who has had major success in the industry since the 90s.

"just get systems that are super hard to get because of chip shortages and scalpers 4Head"
i don't even think it's the textures that are causing the most issues. #1 is their event system being unoptimized to hell (see nemesis & how stuttery he is due to his power design, see trickster on PTB with the knives causing FPS drops...actually it still happens from time to time from what I've seen of streamers) and #2 is their insistence on using excessive amounts of particle effects & animated parts on maps & cosmetics (see asylum's smoke effects and spirit's blighted skin). or even the gen sparking effects (which were disastrous even on PC when they first released on PTB).
and in any case, they could absolutely tone down any VFX on console so it plays more stably. maybe give us a separate performance mode for it (which isn't unheard of, see Nioh). but...nope.
I'm not saying go out and buy a PC or new console, I'm saying if you are going to keep an old console you should keep your expectations in check as the game gets updated. Eventually every game that slowly gets updated on the old consoles will leave those consoles behind because they can't handle it. You upgraded to an Xbox One because your 360 was too old, the same thing will happen here.

Call of Duty: Warzone is multiplayer and runs just fine on older gen consoles.
COD Warzone is also in one of the most successful game series of all time. Comparing that and DbD is ridiculous.
-
@Pepsidot said:
One of the simplest changes DBD could make is also allow consoles to choose the low setting that PC players can.
That would drastically improve performance and although it's not ideal for those that want good performance and the best graphics, it'd be worth it IMO. I've personally played DBD at low settings ever since it came out and I don't think it's bad at all.
Yes that is a valid solution other than "drop everything and make this game run faster on my old console". I would like that to happen.
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:
Nope, this ""arguement"" doesn't work at all.
Yes the Hardware is old,but DbD isn't a new gen title either.
I played several multiplayer games and none of them had any performance issues whatsoever.
You really want to convince me that old gen shouldn't be able to load a tiny icon or status effect without freezing your game for a solid second?
It's "new gen" by having textures and models made in 2021.
-
BHVR does a lot of different work on a lot of different games. I think the main source of their revenue is freelance work on other bigger games.

There is a HUGE difference between "Can't reach 60 FPS" and "This is literally unplayable garbage"
If you're going to come in with such ridiculous hyperboles like this already, this thread is going to be a useless discussion
Almost everybody I play with in DbD are console players. The game is far from unplayable. I lose all the time to console players.
-
@Ryuzaki said:
Care to explain how The Last of Us Part 2 and Death Stranding perform very well on a base model PS4? Both of these games are more graphically demanding than DBD.
Because those were made with help by the actual developers of the console and not by a smaller team like BHVR.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
Then stop selling it and the DLC for the last gen systems
If the hardware can't handle it and BHVR is unable or unwilling to do anything about it, then they shouldn't be selling a broken product
So they just shouldn't sell any video game on the Nintendo Switch that can't reach 60 FPS? Well that's like every game ever.
-
Yes the forums are very biased against survivor which is lame because the stats are in killer's favor anyway and survivors have gotten nothing but nerfs the past few years.
-
Yeah, no matter how they die it will trigger. They could die from not mending and it would work.
-
DCs are extremely rare for me. Albeit they have been more common the past few weeks but I'll go days without seeing a single DC.
-
I don't mind it. It's still a horror game after all and can genuinely get scares out of me every once in a while. The bright cosmetics are just fun for me.

Grind 2 win then.
Yes like every single game in the world you have to play a lot to get good at the game.
-
Gen slowdown perks are a literal game changer. Like half the players use Ruin especially with Undying and it's for a good reason, it's a literal game changer. It also really depends on who you're playing as. Any good survivor can easily dunk on a Trapper or Wraith but not so much a forever Freddy or Spirit.
-
In my experience almost every time the killer hits me as the unhooker to avoid BT. It's really annoying because I would love every killer to hit the unhooked person.
-
It is literally the free kill perk. No perk should get you a free kill just because you equip the perk. It should take skill to use. It's based on the survivors abilities to do bones, nothing the killer did.
-
I feel like every Nemesis feels oppressed and that their killer is extremely under powered (he's not) so they take it out on survivors and take every little thing as a personal attack.
-
I mean there's a reason it's a brown add-on.

It looks awful. I will say it feels nicer to play like that because running feels faster (still hated the advantage I got from it) but it looks so much worse lmao
Yeah I agree that it genuinely looks better. I've never used stretched res but I love my FOV really high in games so that makes it look amazing to me.

Locking the file won't do anything. Nvidia control panel changes the layout of your monitor and you then just set it to full screen and it comes out looking like this in recordings. Very stretched
(I really hated playing with that res but without it the game wouldn't let me keep a stable framerate since 5.0.0. Native keeps freezing on me and this somehow doesn't and its really frustrating because I don't want to be forced to play with that much advantage just to get a stable damn framerate.)
Woah what resolution is that? It almost looks like your FOV is way higher.

Yeah thats actually what i meant. Matchmaking is bad, but i think that killers to survs are balanced not the complete game for itself.
Well if we're talking about the highest level play then yeah it's probably balanced in the favor of survivors but in the average game the statistics show that killer is favored.

Cmon this has gotta be one of the most fun builds in the game. People say Starstruck Agitation nurse is OP but hag gets double the value. One shots invisible traps AND basement camping with agitation all at once.
I think I know who you are referring to...

*sigh* sorry for not making an offical statistic about it. But most of the people i saw on yt or my friends are for the most part my opinion. But what do you think? Killers op? Or wrong matchmaking?
The thing is the statistics are heavily favored for killer. Every killer has above a 50% kill rate and the majority have like 65% and up. I don't think this is because killers are OP (I think a few are) but because the matchmaking is really bad and it always matches good killers against bad survivors.

well there are walls that make certain places a dead end. So it does help If you can see the walls
I guess so. The only map I could think of this ever being useful on is Gideon.
-
This makes sense. I think it would be kind of dumb for those things to just completely counter Knockout.
-
The biggest thing I think is too much is how Windows of Opportunity shows the auras of breakable walls... like why?

Lore wise there are numerous killers that are deemed immortal such as Myers, Freddy, Pyramid Head etc so there isn't really a "strongest" killer in this regard.
I mean Myers is only immortal in some timelines and Pyramid Head doesn't even exist. The only one I can think of who legitimately could be immortal is Freddy but he can be beaten by teenagers, so that doesn't last long.
-
Nah I've been able to reach rank 1 fairly easily. Every once in a while I'll dip into rank 2 but it's been fine.
-
I mean you can't really judge the entire balance of the game on your experiences alone.

Just the withered body and arm for the first image as the head is pretty identical, and then a single cosmetic for the head piece of the 2nd image.
I think these would be pretty cool.
Omg the bag over his head is so scary... I would hate to see that in-game.
-
I feel like this would only be good on smaller maps where you can kick gens quickly.
-
That is definitely too fast. She's moving killer speed at least.
